FORWARD PISTON CRACKED CAUSING OIL LEAKAGE AND LOSS OF POWER, AND VEHICLE TO OPERATE ERRATICALLY WHEN THE GEAR IS IN DRIVE. *AK *YH
FUEL TANK IS LEAKING FUEL BECAUSE THERE IS A WHOLE IN TOP OF TANK. A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED ON VEHICLE MAKE AND MODEL. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.*AK
SPEED SENSOR AND TRANSMISSON WERE FAILING, CAUSING GEARS TO SHIFT ERRACTICALLY AND RESULTING IN VEHICLE TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE AS IT DEACCELERATES. DEALER HAS REPLACED SPEED SENSOR AT 64,000 AND 77,000 MILES, AND TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT 70,000 MILES, PROBLEM STILL REOCCURRING. PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS ON THIS MATTER. *AK
WHENEVER AT A STOP LIGHT OR SIGN WOULD START TO ACCELERATE. VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE FIRST, AND THEN JERKED FORWARD. IT WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. CONSUMER STATES HEAD GASKET FAILED, ENGINE LEAKED OIL ON EXHAUST, AND THE WATER PUMP WAS ALSO REPLACED DUE TO EXCESSIVE NOISE AND A LOOSE SHAFT.*YH

THE TRANSMISSION FAILED BECAUSE OF THE FAILURE OF THE FORWARD CLUTCH PISTON.CONSUMER IS ASKING FOR REMBURSEMENT BECAUSE THE COMPLAIN, CLUNKING WHEN SHIFTING THE CAR FROM PARK TO ANOTHER GEAR AND CLUNKING IN FRONT END WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS.
WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE. IT WOULD DOWNSHIFT AND THEN SLIP, TRYING TO CATCH AND THEN SLIP AGAIN. WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR WHEN PRESSING ACCELERATOR PEDAL. WOULD CATCH EVENTUALLY, AND THEN TAKE OFF. HAVE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP , HAD TRANSMISSION REPLACED. REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION ACTS LIKE THE PREVIOUS TRANSMISSION.*AK
WHILE DEPRESSING BRAKES IT IS DIFFICULT TO STOP. DEALER STATED THAT ABS RING WAS CRACKED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
VEHICLE WOULD HAVE SEVERE SHAKING IN FRONT WHEELS WHEN SPEEDOMETER REACHES 50MPH AND ABOVE. CAN MAINTAIN CONTROL OF VEHICLE WHEN VIBRATING. PROBLEM IS MOST NOTICEABLE WHEN VEHICLE IS LOADED DOWN OR GOING DOWN HILL. BEEN TO DEALERSHIP, AND INFORMED PROBLEM WAS NORMAL.*AK
THE WINDOWS FOG UP AND WILL NOT DEFROST UNLESS THE VAN IS IN ONE SPOT RUNNING. ON BELOW ZERO WEATHER THE WINDOWS FOG UP THEN FROST OVER WE HAD ICE ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDOW. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VAN BACK TO BROWN'S 3 TIMES AND THE HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM YET. I HAVE 4 CHILDREN AND I'M NOT ABLE TO USE THE VAN IN THE WINTER MONTHS BECAUSE I CAN NOT SEE OUT THE WINDOW. I'VE CONTACTED FORD AND THEY CALL BROWN'S AND TALKED TO MIKE IN SERVCE AND HE SAID HE WOULD GET THE VAN IN AGAIN BUT DIDN'T CONTACT US AT ALL AFTER THAT AND THAT HAS BEEN MONTHS AGO. THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATES WHEN IT IS NOT NECESSARY CAUSING THE VEHICLE NOT TO STOP QUICKLY ENOUGH, THE VEHICLE ALSO JUMPS FORWARD WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE CAUSING REAR END COLLISION. NLM
THE HEAD GASKET FAILED AT 125,000 DESTROYING THE ENGINE AND THE TRANSMISSION, CONSUMER STATES IT TOOK SIX WEEKS TO GET A REPLACEMENT ENGINE REBUILT, CONSUMER IS REQUESTING COMPENSATION SINCE FORD HAS A KNOWN HEAD GASKET PROBLEM.*JB
TRANSMISSION SLIPS. THERE ARE FIXES THAT FORD SAYS NEED TO BE DONE WHEN TRANSMISSION IS TORN APART FOR REPAIR. THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEMS BUT WILL ONLY MANDATE WHAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THEY SHOULD RECALL AS THIS IS NOT ISOLATED. IT IS LIKE THE HEADGASKET, THEY EXTEND THE WARRANTY BUT WILL NOT REPLACE UNLESS IT GOES BAD. ODDS ARE GREAT IT WILL AS OTHERS HAVE. WHILE DRIVING GEAR SLIPPED 3 TIMES, AND THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT. DEALER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION OR MAKE CORRECTIONS. *AK
I'VE HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED/REBUILT 3 TIMES, MEANING THIS IS MY FOURTH TRANSMISSION. TWICE IN 1999 ALONE AND BOTH TIMES SERVICED BY COASTAL FORD. I HAD THE ENGINE HEAD GASKETS BLOW, ALSO IN 1999, AND SERVICED BY COASTAL FORD AND I ALSO HAD TO PAY FOR THAT, WHICH WAS OVER $1,400.00. I JUST REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN IN NOV 2001 (FOR MY 4TH TRANSMISSION IN 6 YEARS). I'VE REPLACED THE BRAKE ABS SYSTEM AND HAD THE BRAKES SERVICED REPEATEDLY FOR NEW ROTORS, AND OTHER COMPONANTS (NOT THE USUAL PAD REPLACEMENT). I'VE WRITTEN FORD AND THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP SEVERAL LETTERS OVER THE YEARS AND THEY HAVE NEVER REPLIED TO ME. I HAVE SPENT WELL OVER $12,000.00 IN REPAIRS ON THIS VAN SEVERAL THOUSAND IN RENTAL CAR CHARGES, EVEN WHEN IT WAS A KNOWN FORD RECALL AND FORD WOULD NOT EVEN COVER THE COST OF THE RENTAL. VAN ALWAYS HESITATES AND ENGINE RACES AND SLOWS WHILE STOPPED. *AK
FORD HAS REPLACED HEATER CORE MORE THAN 10 TIMES IN 5 YEAR. HAS REPLACED 3 OR 4 TIMES THIS YEAR ALONE. PROBLEM NEVER FIXED.*AK
HEAD GASKET BLEW AND ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE FUTHER INFORMATION.*AK
ENGINE BLEWOUT AT 30,000, AND IT WAS REPLACED. ENGINE BLEWOUT AGAIN AT 60,000 DUE TO A LEAK IN TIMING COVER. ALSO HEAD GASKET BLEWOUT. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WE HAVE DONE ALL THE RESEARCH AND CONTINUE TO GET THE RUNAROUND ON THE HEAD GASKET FAILURE FOR THIS 1995 WINDSTAR. IT'S NOT THE VEHICLE, BUT DEFECTIVE PARTS AND MY FAMILY WAS PUT IN DANGER BY ALL OF US BEING IN THE VAN AND THE HEAD GASKET BLEW....GOOD THING WE WEREN'T TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY YET. WE HAD JUST PULLED FROM THE STOP SIGN ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND BAM....THIS SHOULD BE COVERED AND WE ARE STILL PAYING FOR A HAZARDOUS VEHICLE THAT WE CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX DUE TO FORD'S DEFECTIVE PARTS. WHILE DRIVING 40-45 MPH VEHICLE SHUTDOWN. CONSUMER CONTINUOUSLY TRIES TO START VEHICLE, NO COMMUNICATION, CONSUMER WAS NOT ABLE TO GET OUT OF VEHICLE OR OPEN WINDOW, THERE WAS NO ELECTRICAL POWER. *AK

WHILE DRIVING SMOKE EMERGED FROM EXHAUST. ALSO, ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON DASH AND TEMPERATURE GAUGE IMMEDIATELY WENT FROM COLD TO HOT, CAUSING HEAD GASKET TO BLOW OUT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ENGINE CHECK LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON DASH, INDICATING THAT HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN. VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. TOOK TO DEALER FOR REPAIRS. *AK

TRANSMISSION BEING REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME. STARTED REPORTING PROBLEMS AT 10,000 MILES. DEALER COULD NOT IDENTIFY. (SLUGISH, BUCKING, ROUGH ACCELERATION.) AT 60,000 MILES WOULD NOT MOVE OUT OF PARK. DEALER REPLACED HEAD GASKET AND MADE OTHER ADJUSTMENTS (DON'T KNOW WHAT BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL IN CODE ON REPAIR SLIP) AT 90,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION WENT. MOTOR MOUNTS ALSO HAD TO BE FIXED. PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION AND BUCKING CAME LESS THAT 7,000 MILES LATER. SECOND TRANSMISSION WENT LESS THAN 20,000 MILES LATER! ALSO HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH (REPLACED 3 TIMES AND STILL DOES NOT WORK RIGHT) AND WARNING LIGHTS FOR THE BRAKES AND AIRBAGS. (NO PROBLEMS EVER FOUND) FORD DEALER SAYS TRANSMISSION IS NOT A RECALL ITEM AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO. I FIND THIS SHOCKING IN LIGHT OF THE NEARLY 4,000 COMPLAINTS THAT THE NHSTA HAS LOGGED FOR THE 95 WINDSTAR, (669 FOR TRANSMISSIONS!!!). FORD SHOULD BE ASHAMED!*AK
CONSUMER HAS POTENTIALLY FATAL PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE, THEY DO NOT HOLD AND OFTEN MAKE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE WHEN PRESSED. *JG
HEAD GASKET IS SHOT, DEALER SAYS WARRANTY RAN OUT 5 MONTHS AGO, SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE HEAD GASKETS AND THAT THEY WON'T REPLACE IT. CONTACTED FORD AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS A RECALL ON THE HEAD GASKETS IN THE WINDSTAR AND THAT THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED BUT WE CAN'T GET ANYWHERE WITH THE DEALORSHIP OR WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE . *AK
A LEAK AROUND THE HEAD GASKETS. DEALER SERVICED VEHICLE. SHORTLY AFTER VEHICLE WAS SERVICED GASKETS STARTED TO LEAK AGAIN. DEALER INSPECTED VEHICLE, AND DETERMINED THAT ENGINE NEED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.*AK
TRANSMISSION GEARS WERE NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. DEALER WAS CONTACTED. AFTER INSPECTION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE DECELERATES TO THE POINT THAT FRONT END BECOMES SLUGGISH. *AK CONSUMER STATES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE OVERDRIVE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE SHIFT LEVER LIGHTS UP, WHEN LIFTING FEET OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY SHIFTS TO LOW GEAR. *YD
VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY SMOKE. IT WOULD OVERHEAT AND EMPTY FLUID FROM RADIATOR. GUAGES NEVER SHOWED THAT VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. ALSO, DRIVER COULD SMELL ANTI-FREEZE WHENEVER VEHICLE WOULD START TO OVERHEAT. THIS WAS ALL DUE TO FAULTY HEAD GASKETS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT STATE SPEED LIMIT AND WITHOUT WARNING VEHICLE WILL STALL. WILL EXPERIENCE MORE DIFFICULTIES WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED OR AT STOP SIGNS.*AK
LIGHT INDICATORS COMING ON, LOSS OF COOLANT AND SOUND FORD DIAGNOSED LEAK OF TIMING CHAIN ASSEMBLY AND BILL PIERRE FORD SAID NO LEAK, NO WORK DONE.
WHEN APPLYING GAS PEDAL VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE IN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. RPM DISPLAY WOULD JUMP AROUND. DEALER RPLACED SPEED SENSOR, AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
AFTER PUTTING FUEL IN VEHICLE AND START DRIVING ENGINE STARTED TO SMOKE. PARKED VEHICLE. CONTACTED MECHANIC AND VEHICLE WAS TOWED IN. MECHANIC INDICATED FUEL WAS ENTERING OIL FOR MOTOR, WHICH WAS A PROBLEM. A NEW ENGINE WOULD BE REQUIRED.*AK

WHILE BEING DRIVEN, THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED. ONE DEALER SAYS IT WAS DUE TO THE HEATER CORE ANOTHER DEALERSHIP SAYS IT WAS DUE TO THE HEAD GASKETS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED. NOT UNDER RECALL.*JB THE HEAD GASKET FAILURE WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE CAUSE FOR THE VEHICLES OVERHEATING. *YH

A STEEL BRAKE LINE RUBBED THROUGH THE FRAME, CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GO TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKES TO FAIL. *TT
