TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE AXLE CRACKED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS TILTED INWARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,037.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THEN THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. IN MARCH 2015, I REPORTED TO FORD THAT THE REAR AXLE BROKE IN HALF WHILE DRIVING. WE HAD BEEN DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE 10 MINUTES BEFORE GOING 70 MPH. IF IT HAD BROKEN THEN, MY HUSBAND AND TWO DAUGHTERS (13, 15) WOULD HAVE MOST CERTAINLY BEEN KILLED. HOWEVER, GOD SPARED US BECAUSE WE WERE ONLY GOING 30 MPH ON A SIDE STREET WHEN THE AXLE FAILED. WHEN I REPORTED IT, FORD TOLD ME THAT THE REAR AXLE RECALL ( I HAD PERFORMED IN 2012) WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. ALSO, ANY PRIVATE MECHANICS I APPROACHED SAID IT WAS A FORD RECALL AND WOULD NOT PERFORM THE REPAIR. SO, AT 137,000 MILES WE JUNKED THE VEHICLE AT A JUNK YARD BECAUSE WE COULDN'T GET IT REPAIRED.

I BOUGHT THE VAN FROM SOMEONE DROVE FROM A HOUR FOURTYFIVE MIN AWAY FROM HOME GOT ALMOST HOME AND THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON BK LIGHT ON RIGHT WENT OUT SEATS STOP WORKING THEY ELECTRICAL AND THE HEAT MESS UP VERY UNPLEASED CAUSE I HAVE KIDS I DRIVE TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY
"CHECK TRACTION CONTROL" WARNING SIGNAL, BREAK LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, TRAC OFF LIGHT, AND TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. SPEEDOMOTER STOPPED WORKING, TACHOMETER STOPPED WORKING, VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT WHEN NECESSARY. LOCAL MECHANIC SAID IT WAS A FAILURE IN THE ABS PUMP AND ABS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. *JS
ABS LIGHT WENT OFF. BRAKES SUDDENLY BECAME LESS EFFECTIVE ON THE SNOW LADEN ICY PAVEMENT. TEMPORARILY LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN DRIVING THE VAN AT 50 MPH THE YELLOW ABS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, TOOK TO THE GARAGE , SAID ABS SYSTEM GAVE 8 CODES BUT THEY COULDN'T PIN POINT A PROBLEM, LIGHT WENT OFF ON ITS OWN AND VAN REGAINED ABS FUNCTION , AND NOW RANDOMLY THE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE ABS IS DEACTIVATED. *TR

MY ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY BRAKES OR ABS. I HAVE THE CODES READ BY A MECHANIC AND IT SAID THE REAR ABS SENSOR WAS BAD. I GOT IT REPLACED AND IT NEVER FIXED THE ISSUE. SO I HAD IT READ AGAIN BY A MECHANIC AND IT SAID THE SAME THING. *TR
DURING INSPECTION INSPECTER 38573 REPORTED A DIAGNOSTIC FAULT AS AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE. AFTER FAILED INSPECTION. I LOOKED FOR PART WITH THE AVAIL. CURRENT PART ON VEHICLE IS 1F2A-14B321-EE. I CANNOT FIND A PART NUMBER MATCHING. I TOOK IT TO A SECOND MECHANIC TO VERIFY IF HE INFACT WAS RIGHT. AND I LOOKED AT THE DIAGNOSTIC AND THE AIRBAG DID NOT SHOW UP HOWEVER WHAT DID SHOW UP AFTER AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AFTER A FULL MEMORY CLEAR WAS CODE B234 WHICH POINTS TO DRIVER SAFETY BELT BUCKLE SWITCH SHORT CIRCUIT TO GROUND. OR IN LAMES TERMS SAFETY BELT BUCKLE SWITCH. THIS SHOULD NEVER IN A CARS LIFE EVER HAPPEN. IF THIS HAPPENED BEFORE A ACCIDENT THIS COULD CAUSE DEATH TO THE CONSUMER. IM THE SECOND OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE I BELIEVE SO IM NOT SURE IF THERE'S A RECALL FOR THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE AS I DO KNOW THERE'S ONE SIMILAR. MY REINSPECTION IS DUE WITHIN 6 DAYS. I FEEL I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR A REPAIR FOR A PART ON SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NEVER NEED TO REPLACED. ESPECIALLY WHEN LIVES ARE AT STAKE. *TR
ABS LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR A FEW DAYS NOW. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GET SERVICED, ABS LIGHT ON PANEL AND BRAKES SQUEAKING. RELIABLE MECHANIC SHOP INFORMED ME THAT THE VEHICLES BRAKES WERE FINE AND NO REPLACEMENT IS NEEDED, BUT THAT MY ABS WOULD NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. I WAS TOLD THE ABS LIGHT WAS ELECTRICAL AND THAT IT WOULD COST A LOT TO FIX.THE BRAKES HAVE FAILED TWICE RECENTLY WITH BRAKES LOCKING AND NO ABS. AFTER RESEARCHING I SEE THE ABS WARNING LIGHT IS AN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE. PLEASE MAKE A RECALL. *TR

IN 2011 FORD RECALLED OVER 400000 VANS (1997-2003) DUE TO SERIOUS CORROSION OF AXLES AND OTHER COMPONENTS. SPECIAL REPAIRS WERE DONE AT FORD EXPENSE. RECENTLY MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THE REAR MOTOR MOUNT AND THE VAN SUB FRAME HAD CONTINUED TO RUST BADLY TO THE EXTENT THAT THE UNIT WAS A SAFETY RISK. A SEARCH OF THE INTERNET INDICATES THAT MANY, MANY REPAIRED FORD VEHICLES HAVE EXPERIENCED VERY SERIOUS CORROSION OF THE SUB FRAMES AND THE REPAIRED AXLES WITH SERIOUS RESULTS INCLUDING FAILURE OF SUB FRAMES AND OR AXLES WHEN DRIVING!! *TR
REPORT RECEIPT DATE: AUG 26, 2010 NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V385000 FORD'S RECALL NO. IS 10S13. THIS VEHICLE (VIN#: [XXX]) HAD THE RECALL PERFORMED BACK IN 2001 FOR THE REAR AXLE. ON 12/1/2014, MY GIRLFRIEND BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THE LEFT REAR TIRE OF THE VEHICLE WAS LEANING IN TOWARDS THE INNER FENDER, COME TO FIND OUT, THE AXLE HAS NOW FAILED AND CRACKED AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, AND BOTH THE FORD DEALER I TOOK THE VAN TO, AND ALSO FORD CORPORATE WILL NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE THE AXLE, STATING THAT THE RECALL WAS ONLY GOOD FOR 12 MONTHS, OR 12,000 MILES. UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE FORD WINDSTAR OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS, AND WITH NO HELP FROM FORD TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT SUBFRAME EXHIBITED A HOLE ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND THE REAR AXLE WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V030000 (STRUCTURE), BUT THE SUBFRAMES WERE NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,120. THE CONTACT HAD RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V385000(SUSPENSION) AND HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL. THE DEALER WAS EXPECTED TO INSPECT AND IF NECESSARY INSTALL THE REAR AXLE REINFORCEMENT BRACKETS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY INSPECTED AND SPRAYED ANTI-CORROSION SPRAY ON THE AXLE. ON A LATER OCCASION, THE CONTACT STATED WHEN SHE EXITED THE VEHICLE SHE NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS LEANING INTO THE FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT REAR AXLE WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,917.

ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS KEEP COMING ON AND OFF. ALSO HAVE SHAKING IN SUSPENSION FRONT AND BACK. DEALER CONDUCTED THE BACK AXLE REPAIR BUT THE VEHICLE STILL HAS A LITTLE SHAKE WITH NEW TIRES AND FRONT END ALIGNMENT. *TR

THE REAR AXLE BROKE IN THE PLACE THAT WAS "FIXED" BY THE RECALL WORK IN 2010. NOTICED SQUEAKING NOISES (TIRE WAS RUBBING) AND A LARGE CLUNK AND WIGGLE WHEN TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT. TOOK A PHOTO WHEN I GOT TO THE PARKING LOT. MY REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WAS AT AN ANGLE TO THE VEHICLE AND THE REAR AXLE WAS BROKEN UNDER THE COLLAR THAT HAD BEEN ATTACHED BY A DEALER FOR THE RECALL. THE WELD HELD UP, BUT THE AXLE SNAPPED UNDERNEATH THE FIX-UP JOB. APPARENTLY THE RECALL FIX WASN'T REALLY A FIX. TOWED IT INTO A DEALER, WHO TOOK PHOTOS AND TALKED TO FORD. FORD SAID THEY WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING. COST ME $$ TO TOW IT TO THE DEALER AND BACK HOME AGAIN. DON'T HAVE $1,000 TO PAY THE DEALER FOR A NEW REAR AXLE. VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THEY DIDN'T STAND BY THEIR WORK. VERY THANKFUL THAT I WAS NOT ON THE FREEWAY, AND THAT ALL MY CHILDREN WERE NOT WITH ME AT THE TIME. IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH WORSE! *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY FORD WINDSTAR AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN I HEARD A CLUNK. SHORTLY THEREAFTER I HEARD A METAL-ON-METAL CLANKING NOISE. I THEN DROVE HOME, PARKED THE VAN UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2014, I REMOVED THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE TO FIND THE SWAY BAR BRACKET COMPLETELY RUSTED AWAY FROM THE SUBFRAME. THE RUST WAS SO EXTENSIVE, THE SUBFRAME ALSO HAD A RUST HOLE, THE SIZE OF A QUARTER RIGHT THROUGH THE SUBFRAME DIRECTLY BENEATH WHERE THE SWAY BAR BRACKET "WAS" LOCATED. THE FOLLOWING MONDAY, OCTOBER 27TH, I CALLED AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT WILLOWBROOK FORD. THEY HAD MY VAN FOR TWO DAYS BEFORE CALLING ME WITH THEIR DECISION. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL NOT COVER THE COST TO FIX MY VEHICLE DESPITE FORD HAVING A RECALL ON THE SUBFRAME. THEY ALSO CALLED THEY SENT THE FORD DISTRICT MANAGER VARIOUS PHOTOS SHOWING SO THE CORRODED SWAY BAR BRACKET AND SUBFRAME. THEY TOLD ME THE DM AT FORD ALSO REJECTED PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED SINCE THIS 2001 WINDSTAR HAS RECEIVED SEVERAL RECALLS, MANY OF WHICH WERE ASSOCIATED WITH CORROSION AROUND THE SUBFRAME AND REAR AXLE. MY WINDSTAR IS NOW NOT SAFE TO DRIVE! VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS FORD WINDSTAR AND WITH FORD IN GENERAL. *TR

I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK, WHEN MY VAN STARTED TO SHAKE AND SOUND LIKE I HAD A FLAT TIRE. I GOT OUT OF THE VAN AND LOOKED NO FLAT. WHEN I MADE IT HOME I NOTICED THAT THE BACK TIRE WAS LEANING AT AN ANGLE. I CHECKED MY LUG NUTS BUT THEY WERE TIGHT. I LOOKED UNDER THE VAN AND SEEN THAT THE AXLE BRACE WAS BROKEN. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-800-392-3673 THEY TOLD ME THAT THE RECALL ON THE REAR AXLE WAS FIXED IN 2010 AND IT DIDN'T MATTER THAT IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM THEY WERE NOT HELPING. THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. IF THERE IS A RECALL SHOULDN'T IT STAY IN EFFECT UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS COMPLETELY FIXED NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES IT TAKES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM? THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT FUSE AND BOTH BULBS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. TAKATA RECALL I'M LOOKING TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON MANIFOLD IN THE 2001 FORD WINDSTAR.

THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED IT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE SPEED WOULD NOT INCREASE PAST 5 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
THE RECALL 10S13 REAR AXLE INSPECTION AND REPAIR WAS PERFORMED ON MY CAR IN 2011. FORD DEALER INSPECTED, CLEANED AND PAINTED AREAS OF REAR AXLE RECOMMENDED BY FORD. THEY INSTALLED ADDITIONAL SUPPORT PARTS. NOW REAR AXLE RUSTED THRU WHERE WORK WAS DONE DURING RECALL WORK. IT IS SAFETY CONCERN. FORD'S TEMPORARY FIX DOES NOT WORK AS PERMANENT FIX. WHEN I CALLED FORD REGARDING THIS PROBLEM, THEY SAY THAT THE RECALL WORK WARRANTY 12 MONTHS ONLY. *TR
VEHICLE HAD A RECALL ON THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH (SCDS) IN 2009, REPAIR WAS DONE BY INSTALLING JUMPER AS SCDS WAS NOT LEAKING. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AS BRAKE LIGHT WAS ON. FOUND LEAKING SCDS TO BE PROBLEM. FORD CONTACTED TO COVER REPAIR AS SCDS WAS KNOWN TO BE BAD WHEN RECALLED IN 2009, BUT WAS NOT LEAKING. THE LEAKING SCDS CAUSED THE JUMPER (INSTALLED DURING RECALL) TO GO BAD AND LEAK BRAKE FLUID OUT OF SCDS. FORD ADVISED THAT "SORRY, THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO BECAUSE THE RECALL HAD BEEN DONE." CUSTOMER CARE PERSONNEL ELEVATED CONCERN TO SUPERVISOR, WHO ALSO REITERATED FORD'S STANCE THAT THE ORIGINAL RECALL HAD BEEN PERFORMED AND THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE. OUR CONCERN IS FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND CHILDREN WHO GET TAKEN AROUND IN THIS VEHICLE. FORD KEPT SAYING, "SORRY..." CASE WAS CLOSED WITH NO ACTION ON SAFETY ISSUE. I GUESS LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID FROM A KNOWN BAD PART IS OF NO CONCERN TO FORD. REPAIR FOR BAD PART AND PREVIOUSLY RECALLED PART AND LABOR WAS OVER $200. FORD KNEW PART WOULD LEAK AND ADVISED DEALERS TO REPLACE SCDS IF LEAKING DURING INSPECTIONS. FOR KNEW THE TEXAS INSTRUMENTS PART WAS BAD, BUT ONLY CHANGED THE ONES LEAKING. IF IT LEAKED AFTER THE RECALL WORK WAS DONE, IT WOULD BE THE CUSTOMER'S RESPONSIBILITY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VEER IN ONE DIRECTION INDEPENDENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE REAR AXLE FRACTURED. THE RECALL THAT WAS RELATED TO THE FAILURE, NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V195000 (SUSPENSION), HAD EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS 2001 FORD WINDSTAR SE MINIVAN WHICH NOW HAS A RUSTED, CORRODED AND BROKEN PASSENGER SIDE ENGINE SUBFRAME WHICH RENDERS THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I COMPLIED WITH THE EARLIER FORD RECALLS WITH REGARD TO THIS ISSUE (11S16) AND THE SERVICE WAS COMPLETED (6/20/2012) AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP. NOW AFTER 27 MONTHS AND LESS THAN 16,000 MILES LATER, THE ENGINE SUBFRAME BREAKS AND THE COST TO REPAIR OF ABOUT $5,000.00 EXCEEDS THE KELLEY BLUE BOOK VALUES FOR THE VEHICLE. FORD HAS REFUSED ANY HELP AND CLAIMS THEY HAVE COMPLIED WITH THE RECALL WORK AND THE MATTER IS CLOSED. I BELIEVE THE RECALL SUPPORT BRACKET THAT WAS INSTALLED WAS NOTHING MORE THAT A BAND-AID APPROACH TO CORRECT A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH SUBSTANDARD ENGINE SUBFRAME PARTS. I HAVE ASKED FORD TO BUY MY VEHICLE BACK, AS THAT WAS AN OPTION UNDER THE RECALL(11S16) BUT THEY HAVE REFUSED AGAIN SAYING THE MATTER WAS CLOSED. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE ENGINE SUBFRAME PARTS SHOULD LAST MUCH LONGER THAN 13 YEARS OR 97,000 MILES. AFTER ALL FORD SUGGESTS THE 1ST ENGINE TUNE UP FOR THIS VEHICLE AT 100,000 MILES. I GUESS I WON'T BE WORRYING ABOUT THAT IN THE FUTURE. I HAVE THIS VEHICLE NOW FOR A SHORT WHILE AND I HAVE PICTURES OF THE BROKEN SUBFRAME. I WILL BE GETTING RID OF IT PROBABLY TO A JUNK YARD FOR SCRAP VALUE. I AM WORRIED ABOUT ALL THE OTHER WINDSTAR OWNERS DRIVING AROUND WITH THIS SAME POTENTIAL CONDITION ON OUR ROADS AND HIGHWAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V385000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. BRAKE LIGHTS WENT ON AS WELL AS ABS LIGHTS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS, VEHICLE STARTED TO BRAKE ON ITS OWN WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 40 MILES AN HOUR. THIS HAPPENED TWICE FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN I HAD CONTROL AGAIN. VERY SCARY.... *TR
ABS BRAKE LIGHT AND PARKING BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND REMAIN ON AT THIS TIME. THE BRAKES WERE RECENTLY SERVICED AND CURRENTLY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM. THERE IS CONCERN FOR VEHICLE SAFETY AND BRAKING SYSTEM. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS IS A ERROR IN THE MODULE AND ABS STILL WORK OR IF ABS IS DISABLED. FORD WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUES. BASED ON THE COMPLAINTS FOR THIS VEHICLE FORD IS WELL AWARE OF THE CONCERNS FOR SAFETY, BUT AS OF THIS DATE BUT HAVE YET TO ISSUE A RECALL. THERE IS ALSO A NOISE COMING FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE STEERING COLUMN. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON THIS AS WELL, HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE WAS NOT IN THE RECALL. STOPPED AT INTERSECTION. BEGAN MOVING FORWARD MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AND STEERING DISENGAGED, STEERING WHEEL WAS FREELY GOING IN CIRCLES. ACCELERATED THROUGH INTERSECTION, OVER CURB AND INTO GRASS AREA TO BE CLEAR OF CROSS TRAFFIC. HAD DIFFICULTY MOVING GEAR SHIFT BUT WAS ABLE TO FORCE IT INTO PARK, SHUT OFF ENGINE. LOOKED UNDER VEHICLE AND FOUND BOTH FRONT SUBFRAME LOWER CONTROL ARMS HAD BROKEN FREE.THERE WAS NO INDICATION FAILURE WAS GOING TO OCCUR. *TR

ONE WEEK PRIOR TO A SCHEDULED VACATION (900 MILE SOUTH) WE ASKED MECHANIC TO CHECK THE REAR AXLE BECAUSE OF THE PREVIOUS REPAIR FOR THE RECALL. BRACKETS INSTALLED 4/12/2011 BY HALDEMAN FORD IN ALLENTOWN, PA FOR THE RECALL 10S13 WERE IN PLACE PER OUR MECHANIC. SEVERAL SERIOUS CRACKS AND RUST AROUND THE BRACKETS WERE FOUND IN THE AXLE DURING THIS INSPECTION AND PICTURES WERE TAKEN. HALDEMAN FORD AGREED THAT THE AXLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BASED ON SEVERE DAMAGE AND RUST, SENT PICTURES TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY, FOR APPROVAL OF REPLACEMENT OF THE REAR AXLE UNDER THE RECALL. FORD ENGINEERS EXAMINE THE PICTURES SENT BY HALDEMAN FORD DENIED THE REPAIR. FORD MOTOR CO. SAID " THE BRACKETS DID WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO". HALDEMAN FORD WAS SURPRISED THAT THE REPAIR WORK WAS DENIED CALLED SARA AT FORD'S CUSTOMER RELATION CENTER WHO INDICATED THAT THEIR POLICY WAS THAT THE FORD ENGINEERS DETERMINATION WAS FINAL. MANANGER TOLD US: FORD'S POLICY WAS THAT THE REPAIR WAS DONE PER REQUIRED BY THE RECALL 10S13 AND THAT THERE WAS A 1 YEAR WARRANTY ON THE REPAIR AND IT IS PASSED THE WARRANTY PERIOD AND AGAIN DENIED THE REPAIR REQUEST. WE WERE NEVER TOLD OF A ONE YEAR WARRANTY. (I HAVE THE ORIGINAL COPY OF THE FORD "REPAIR ORDER DETAILS" WITH NO "SMALL PRINT" OR OTHERWISE REGARDING THE WARRANTY). HALDEMAN FORD STATED THEY WAS UNAWARE OF A 1 YR. WARRANTY. HAD REAR AXLE REPLACED FOR THE COST OF $918 FOR VACATION 2 DAYS LATER. PLEASE INVESTIGATE I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE YOU COULD PROVIDE WITH SECURING PAYMENT FOR THE REPAIR THAT FORD WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR. NEVER RECEIVED A "RECALL NOTICE" FROM FORD MOTOR DESPITE BEING THE ONLY OWNER OF THE WINDSTAR (WAS A DEMO VEHICLE) LIVING AT SAME ADDRESS. WHEN WE FIRST TOOK IT TO HALDEMAN FORD ABOUT THE RECALL, THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE RECALL AND WOULD NOT REPAIR IT UNTIL THEY WERE NOTIFIED. *TR

TOOK FORD WINDSTAR VAN 2001 IN FOR BRAKE INSPECTION BACK ON MARCH 31,2014 WAS SHOWN PICTURE OF REAR AXLE THAT WAS CRACKED IN HALF BUT HAD THE FORD MANUFACTURED BRACKET INSTALLED AS A FIX TO THE RECALLED AXLE ( WHICH I WAS NOT TOLD ABOUT WHEN WE PURCHASED THE USED VAN FROM THE DEALERSHIP). ON MARCH 31, 2014 MY MECHANIC TOLD ME HE WOULD NOT GO ON THE EXPRESSWAY WITH IT. TODAY, 7/30/14 I WAS DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE VAN AND I HEARD A TERRIBLE NOISE COMING FROM REAR OF THE VAN. I SLOWED DOWN AND DROVE HOME. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE VAN AT HOME BOTH OF MY REAR TIRES WERE LEANING INWARDS AND UPON FURTHER INSPECTION LOOKED UNDER THE VAN AND SAW THE AXLE COMPLETELY CRACKED IN HALF WITH A GOOD HALF AN INCH WIDE CRACK THROUGH THE AXLE. WHEN THE MECHANIC TOOK PICTURE BACK IN MARCH THE CRACK WAS A HAIRLINE CRACK. PLEASE LET EVERYONE BE AWARE OF THIS LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. IF YOU DRIVE A FORD WINDSTAR THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED AND FIXED WITH A BRACKET FOR THE REAR AXLE DO NOT GET BEHIND THE WHEEL IT IS A DEATH TRAP!!!!!!!!!!!! *TR
