AS YOU DIRVE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ON DASH COME ON STAY ON. *JS
REAR AXEL BROKE. *TR
AFTER GOING THROUGH A HEAVY DOWNPOUR AT ABOUT 20MPH THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. NOTHING WAS HUNG UP AND IT LATER CLEARED. WE FIGURED A SENSOR GOT WET BUT PERIODICALLY MAYBE STOPPING QUICKLY OR EVEN JUST TURNING OFF AUTO AND RESTARTING WITHIN 15 MINUTES MAY TRIGGER THE LIGHTS. THEY MAY STAY ON ENTIRE TIME OF TRAVEL UNTIL SHUTTING OFF CAR OR THEY MAY JUST GO AWAY WHILE DRIVING. NOT SURE IF IT'S A BRAKE PROBLEM OR ELECTRICAL BECAUSE MY TEMP NOTIFICATION FOR OUTSIDE TEMP ALSO DOES NOT WORK AND THE GAS GAUGE WILL SOMETIMES REPORT EMPTY AFTER FILLING UP AND ALSO I HAVE HAD ISSUES WHERE THE CRUISE CONTROL CAN NOT BE SHUT OFF BY BUTTON. I MUST APPLY THE BRAKE TO SHUT OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE BRAKE LIGHTS STARTED BACK IN 2012 BUT THEY ALL DID NOT FAIL AT THE SAME TIME. THESE OTHER THINGS HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM AT LEAST SINCE 2013. I HAVE APPROX. 138,000 MILES ON THE VAN. *TR
7/21/2011 BOUGHT VAN FROM PRIVATE PARTY. RECALL COMPLETED IN MARCH OF 2011 REGARDING BACK AXLE. ON 7/13/2012 8PM, MY 18YR OLD SON, WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM LACROSSE PRACTICE, NEARLY KILLED. UPON PULLING OUT ONTO THE MAIN ROAD, HE LOST ALL CONTROLS, NO STEERING, NO BRAKES AND NO POWER. HE COASTED AND PRAYED IT WOULD STOP. I ARRIVED, WE CALLED AAA. FLATBED TO MY HOME DRIVER COULD NOT BELIEVE HIS EYES. THE ENGINE HAD FALLEN OUT. 7/16/12 CALLED FORD IN MICH AND SPOKE TO REP. TO BE TOWED 13 MILES AWAY TO ROUTE 23 AUTO AT OUR EXPENSE. REALLY? ROUTE23 WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH ME (THEY DID RECALL). WENT BACK AND FORTH THEN PER RT23 "IT WILL BE A MONTH UNTIL WE CAN LOOK AT IT" GETTING KNOW WHERE. 7/18-22 BORROWED FRIEND CAR FOR TOURNAMENT. 8/1/12 CALLED MAGARINO FORD AND WITH GREAT CONCERN HAD A FLATBED THAT NIGHT. THIS TOW TRUCK DRIVER COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. FLUIDS RACED OUT AND DOUBLE STABILIZED FOR ENGINE SLIDING DURING TRANSPORT. 8/2/12 MAGARINO CALLED 9AM, PICTURES SENT TO FORD AND AWAITING REPLY. 8/5/12 T/C FROM M STATING FORD REFUSES TO BUY BACK AND SENDING A SUBFRAME. YOU MEAN A RECALLED ONE? MAGARINO CAUGHT IN MIDDLE I QUESTIONED WHETHER HE WOULD PUT HIS CHILDREN IN THIS VAN. HE SOFTLY REPLIED, "NO" WHAT AM I TO DO, OUT OF WORK 2 YEARS, SINGLE PARENT WITH NO CAR TO FIND WORK. 8/8/12 I QUESTIONED FORD WHY THIS VAN EVER LEFT RT 23 AUTO, ACCORDING TO RESEARCHED PAPER A PART WAS WAITING ON. YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT UPON THIS FIXED AXLE NOBODY NOTICED THE SUBFRAME WAS ROTTED FROM INSIDE OUT CAUSING THE ENGINE TO FALL OUT THE NEXT SUMMER NEARLY KILLING MY SON! BUT THEY SIGNED IT WAS FINE! REALLY? NOW WE HAVE CASE # 1373091992 8/10/12 PICKED UP VAN. BROKE= A/C, R-WINDOW, HEATER ENGINE, AIRBAG, BRAKE LIGHT ON, RUNS HOT STEERING= THUMPS MAKES NOISE (FULL FLUID) SKIP GEARS, SWAYS, BARELY CAN GET UP A HILL. 11YR OLD SCARED TO DRIVE IN IT
THE ABS SYSTEM HAVE BEEN INTERMITTENTLY OPERATING FOR A WHILE AND CASED THE ARE TO ALMOST REAR END A VEHICLE. BOTH THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ONE WHEN IF FAILS. THIS FAULT FIRST OCCURRED AROUND 78,000 MILES. *TR REPLACED THE ABS MODULE AND THE SECOND ONE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. FORD INDICATED THAT THEY WANTED ME TO BUY A NEW PART AT >1250$. NOT SURE THAT IT WOULD WORK ANY BETTER THAT THE TWO I HAVE OR FELT THAT IT WOULD NOT LAST.
ON SUNDAY JULY 8TH, 2012 I WAS DRIVING MY 2001 FORD WINDSTAR I STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND AS THE LIGHT CHANGED I BEGAN DRIVING AND THEN HEARD A LOUD NOISE, MY WHEELS BEGAN TO SQUEEL AND PULL ALL OVER AND MY VAN CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE ROAD AND WOULD NOT MOVE.. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL WAS TURNED OUTWARD BUT MY WHEEL WAS STRAIGHT. THANK GOD I WAS NOT ON AN EXPRESSWAY OR HIGHWAY WITH ALL MY KIDS IN THE VEHICLE.. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK THE DRIVER INSPECTED IT AND SAID SOMETHING UNDERNEATH THE FRONT FRAME HAD SNAPPED OFF.. SO TODAY I HAD IT TOWED INTO A FORD DEALER TO FIND OUT IT IS A NEW RECALL HOW CAN THESE WINDSTAR VANS HAVE SO MANY FRAME AND AXLE ISSUES AND BE SAFE TO DRIVE EXSPECIALLY WITH ALL THESE BRACKETS THEY ARE HAVING TO PUT ON THEM FOR THE RECALLS.. IF I WAS ON AN EXPRESSWAY ME AND MY SON WOULD OF BEEN HURT BADLY IF NOT KILLED.. NOT TO MENTION IF I WOULD OF HIT SOMEONE ELSE I COULD OF INJURED OTHERS TOO..I WILL NEVER TRUST ANOTHER WINDSTAR WITH MY FAMILY THIS IS CRAZY.. IT IS THE SUBFRAME FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM REAR ATTACHING FLAGES COMPLETELY BROKE/SNAPPED OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BASIC 40 MPH ROAD..WHEN IT BROKE IT MESSED UP THE UNDERNEATH OF MY VEHICLE IT RIPPED THE DRIVE SHAFT RIGHT OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION.. AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE IS DAMAGED NOW.. PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS NOW BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT.. *TR
ME AND MY FAMILY WERE ON OUR WAY TO NEW YORK FOR VACATION. MAYBE ABOUT AN HOUR INTO DRIVING ME AND MY HUSBAND STARTED TO SMELL SOMETHING BURNING SO I PULLED OFF THE HIGH WAY AND LITTLE DO WE KNOW MG VAN WAS UP IN SMOKE WE CHECKED OUR OIL THAT WAS GOOD BUT I TOLD MY HUSBAND TO CHECK THE TRANSMISSION. FLUID AND IT WAS EMPTY BUT BEFORE WE LEFT WE HAD THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF TRANSMISSION FLUID IN THE VAN. WE HAD TO ADD ABOUT 5 OR 6 QUARTS OF FLUID IN ORDER FOR THE VAN TO SWITCH FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE TO SN AUTO PART STORE THEY TESTED THE VAN ON THERE COMPUTER EVERYTHING PASSED EXCEPT THE TORQUE CONVERTER. *TR
BOTH OF MY BRAKE LIGHTS, AT THE SAME TIME, COME ON AND OFF ON MY DASHBOARD. WITHIN THE PAST YEAR I HAVE HAD BOTH THE FRONT AND BACK BRAKES FIXED, INCLUDING NEW LINES, CALIPERS,ROTORS, ETC..AND THE LIGHTS STILL RANDOMLY COME ON. *TR
ABS LIGHT, AIR BAG LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT KEEPS COMING BACK ON WHILE CAR IS ON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHEN THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 122,840.
ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON. GO OFF WHEN VEHICLE IS TURN OFF AND BACK ON. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. LESS SO IN COOLER WEATHER. FRONT AND BACK BRAKES CHECK OUT O.K. NO SIGN OF FLUID LEAK IN BRAKE SYSTEM, HOWEVER ABS SEEMS NONFUNCTIONAL. HAD DEALER CHECK LIGHTS. SAID COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES AND THAT THE ABS MODULE MIGHT BE BAD. READ THAT NUMEROUS OTHER OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT THESE CARS WERE ASSEMBLED WITH DEFECTIVE ABS MODULES. *TR
ABS BRAKE LIGHTS KEEP COMING ON. *TR
ABS TROUBLE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND GOING OFF. IT WAS CHECKED AND THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE IF I DIDN'T WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY. I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THE CONNECTOR IS ABSORBING FLUIDS AND SHORTING OUT. THIS SHORTING OUT HAPPENS MOSTLY IN WARM WEATHER. IN SUB 0 WEATHER THE LIGHT PRETTY MUCH STAYS OFF. THERE IS STILL A CHANCE OF FIRE WHEN IT IS SHORTING OUT. I COMPLAINED TO FORD AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS ITEM. THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER FOR MY COMPLAINT. IT IS #[XXX]. THIS PROBLEM IS A DIRECT CAUSE OF FLUIDS LEAKING ON THE MODGULAR CONNECTOR AND HEAT FROM ENGINE. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THAT THE BRAKES FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS BRAKE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
THE ABS LIGHT AND EXCLAMATION POINT LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. THERE IS ALSO A SCRUBBING, DULL SCREECHING SOUND WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES. I'VE HAD IT CHECKED OUT AND ATTEMPTED TO BE FIXED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT NEITHER MECHANIC HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT. THEY TURN THE LIGHTS OFF, BUT THEY COME RIGHT BACK ON. PLEASE RECALL AND CORRECT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE PEOPLE GET KILLED. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VAN VERY MUCH. *TR
ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS GO ON RESULTING IN THE INACTIVITY OF THE ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM RESULTING IN A MAJOR BRAKING SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
FRONT SUB-FRAME BADLY RUSTED AND SWAY BAR WELDED MOUNTS ON THE SUB-FRAME HAVE RUSTED AND BROKEN IN HALF CAUSING POOR STEERING CONTROL AND EXCESSIVE BODY ROLL. AS A NOTE, THIS VEHICLE WAS RUSTPROOFED WHEN NEW AND INSPECTED OVER THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE EACH YEAR. ALSO, FORD HAS INSPECTED THE FRONT SUB-FRAME IN JANUARY OF 2011 ON A RECALL AND IT APPEARS DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE SUB-FRAME IN THIS AREA. GIVEN THE SEVERITY OF THE RUST IT WOULD APPEAR THE PROBLEM EXISTED AT THE TIME OF INSPECTION. *JS
ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND WILL NOT GO OFF. BRAKES HAVE BEEN CHECKED BY TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AND THEY FOUND NO REASON FOR THE LIGHT TO BE ON. UNABLE TO RESET. *TR
WHEN DRIVING THE FRONT END OF MY VAN WOULD START SHAKING AT 54MPH. TOOK IT IN TO MY MECHANIC JULYOF 2012 TOLD ME MY SUBFRAME WAS BAD .FORD RECALLED MY VAN IN JAN OF 2011 HAD IT FOR FOUR MONTHS RECALL ON SUBFRAME AND REAR AXLE WAS COMPLETED IN MAY OF 2011 CONTACTED FORD THEY WILL NOT HELP ME. *TR
ABS SYSTEM LIGHT APPEARED ON, ABS TRACTION ACTIVATED IN DRY, NON SLIPPERY CONDITIONS,WILL NOT DISABLE UPON RESET AND PROBLEM CONTINUES. FORD DEALER INDICATES THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY WINDSTARS, BUT WILL NOT FIX WITHOUT $200 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. *TR
AT APPROXIMATELY 16:45 AFTER DRIVING 6 MILES THAT DAY, THE WINDSTAR VAN WAS STOPPED AND THE IGNITION KEY TURNED OFF. THE DELIVERY DRIVER WENT INSIDE HIS DESTINATION FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. WHILE LOADING HIS CARGO, HE SMELLED SMOKE. LOOKING UP, HE NOTICED FLAMES COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BETWEEN THE HOOD AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPER PLASTIC SHIELDING. USING AN ONBOARD 5 LB FIRE EXTINGUISHER, HE ATTEMPTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES BUT TO NO AVAIL. HE DIALLED 9-1-1 ON HIS PHONE. EMPLOYEES AT HIS DESTINATION ALSO NOTICED THE FIRE, AND CONTACTED THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT AS WELL. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES WITH SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE REAR PORTION OF THE ENGINE, THE FIRE WALL, BRAKE CYLINDER AND GLASS WINDSHIELD. THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE THAT DAY WAS IN THE 70 DEGREES RANGE, WINDOWS WERE DOWN IN THE VAN, AND THE A/C SYSTEM WAS NOT IN USE. *TT
KEEP HAVING BRAKE & ABS LIGHTS COMING ON. I LOOKED ONLINE TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION AND WAS SURPRISED AT HOW MANY OTHER WINDSTAR OWNERS WERE POSTING THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS TRYING TO FIND A TIME AND THE MONEY TO TAKE THIS IN TO HAVE CHECKED. I FINALLY TOOK MY WINDSTAR IN TO THE SHOP TODAY AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE ABS MODULE. THEY SAID THEY UNDERSTAND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. THEY SAID THE VAN IS STILL DRIVABLE, ONLY WHEN THOSE LIGHTS COME ON, THE ABS SYSTEM WILL BE DISABLED. THE REPAIR FOR THIS IS ALMOST $1,000 TO REPLACE THE MODULE. I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE BECAUSE THIS HAPPENS SO FREQUENTLY. *TR
OUR REAR AXLE HAS SHEARED IN HALF THREE TIMES. THE THIRD TIME (AFTER THEY ADMITTED A RECALL) WE WERE 40 MILES FROM HOME WHEN IT BROKE, FORD TOLD US THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE IT WAS A SATURDAY. WE WERE FORCED TO DRIVE IT HOME ON THE INTERSTATE, AS A FAMILY OF 6 IN A TOWN WITH NO RENTAL PLACES WE HAD NO CHOICE. FORD PUT THEIR "PATCH KIT" ON MY RECALLED AXLE LAST YEAR, AND IT FAILED. NOW THEY HAVE GIVEN ME A 1992 SABLE AS A RENTAL WHILE MY VAN IS IN THE SHOP. MY FAMILY CAN'T FIT IN IT, AND MY CHILDREN CAN'T EVEN FASTEN THEIR SEATBELTS IN IT, AND ONE OF MY CHILDREN HAS TO SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT WITH THE AIRBAG. THEY TOLD ME THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO. MY SUBFRAME IS UNDER RECALL, AS WELL AS THE CONTROL ARMS AND BODY MOUNTS. FORDS FIX FOR THIS IS TO PATCH THEM LIKE THEY DID MY AXLE, WHICH BROKE. NOW I AM STUCK WITH A TICKING TIME BOMB AND FOUR CHILDREN. FORDS BANDAIDS FOR THESE DEVESTATING FAILURES ONLY BUYS THEM A FEW MONTHS TIME, AND PUTS LIVES AT RISK. MY FRONT END CLICKS WHEN I TURN, MY TIRES RUBBED ALL THE WAY HOME ON THE BROKEN AXLE, THE TRANSMISSION LEAKS HORRIBLY, THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS RUSTED AND ROTTED BEYOND REPAIR, AND ALL THESE ADMITTED FAULTY PARTS ARE BEING PATCHED AND SENT OUT THE DOOR. I DONT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY KIDS AROUND IN THIS! AND IM BEING TOLD MY CHOICES ARE BUY A NEW VAN AT MY EXPENSE, OR DRIVE THIS ONE AND TAKE A CHANCE!! *JS
AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION GETTING ONTO A HIGHWAY OUR SUBFRAME GAVE OUT AND WE CAME TO A SCREECHING HALT & A DEAD STOP. THE ENTIRE SUBFRAME UNDER THE PASSENGERS SIDE OF THE VAN ROTTED AND THE WHEEL WAS UP AGAINST THE FRAME OF THE CAR. IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. IT COST US $1,500.00. *TT
JUST RECENTLY, IN THE PAST COUPLE MONTHS, THE ABS LIGHTS GO ON INTERMITTENTLY ON THE DASHBOARD, WARNING THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. WE TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, AND THEY SAID IT MAY NEED A NEW ECU OR COMPUTER MODULE, BUT THEY SAID IT WAS SAFE TO USE. HOWEVER, THE MANUAL SAYS WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON, THE ABS SYSTEM AND TRACTION CONTROL ARE DISABLED... THERE SEEMS TO BE A RECALL, BUT NO ONE AT THE DEALERSHIP MENTIONED ANY ISSUE. IT SEEMS STRANGE FOR A CAR WITH 68,000 MILES TO HAVE THIS GO OUT - WE WANT TO MAKE SURE IT IS NOT A COVERED ITEM BEFORE PAYING $ 1,400 FOR A NEW PART. THANK YOU. *TR
THE PARKING BRAKE AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS COME ON INTERMITTENTLY AND TEND TO STAY ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS WARM. THIS VEHICLE HAS ALREADY HAD THE RECALL 09V399000 PERFORMED ON IT SO THE LIGHTS COMING ON SHOULD NOT BE RELATED TO THAT ISSUE. IT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING WITH THEIR WINDSTAR VANS WHICH IS A BAD SOLDER ON THE ABS CONTROL MODULE CIRCUIT BOARD. I HAVE ONLY DRIVEN THE VAN A FEW THOUSAND MILES SINCE THE LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON SO I HAVE NOT NOTICED ANY LOSS OF FUNCTION THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED. *TR

THE LOWER ANCHOR STRAP FOR REAR FACING WILL NOT TIGHTEN OR LOOSEN AND IS STUCK IN THE SAME POSITION. I CONTACTED GRACO AND THEY ARE REPLACING THE SEAT AFTER I SEND BACK THE DEFECTIVE ONE (RELATED VEHICLE INFORMATION: MODEL YEAR=2001, MAKE=FORD , MODEL=WINDSTAR). *TR
ABS LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY, EVEN IN SUMMER WITH NO ADVERSE DRIVING CONDITIONS. IT STAYS ON FOR VARYING LENGTHS OF TIME, THEN DISAPPEARS FOR SOME TIME, THEN OUT OF THE BLUE COMES BACK ON. BRAKING A LITTLE BIT HARDER THAN USUAL DOES SEEM TO TRIGGER IT. ALSO, RECENTLY, THE CRUISE CONTROL JUST SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. IT WORKED FINE ONE DAY, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, A DAY OR TWO LATER, I HIT ON, BUT IT REFUSED TO SET. I TRIED AGAIN ON ANOTHER DAY AND IT STILL WOULDN'T SET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V030000 (STRUCTURE: FRAME AND MEMBERS: UNDER BODY SHIELDS) IN 2001. THE CONTACT STATED THAT PER THE RECALL, ATTACHING BRACKETS WERE INSTALLED TO BOTH FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS. MOST RECENTLY, THE SUB FRAME WAS FOUND TO BE FRACTURED NEAR THE STEERING COLUMN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL DID NOT PERTAIN TO THE SUB FRAME AND THAT THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED THE RECALL DID SO ACCORDINGLY. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,500.
THE BRAKE FLUID IS LEAKING FROM THE BRAKE PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. I CALLED RUSS MILNE FORD MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL, BUT WHEN I LOOKED IT UP ONLINE IT STATES IT IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND COULD CAUSE A FIRE. THE SAID IT WOULD COST ABOUT $90 OR SO TO FIX IT. I HAVE ALREADY PUT A OVER $2000 IN REPAIRS IN THE LAST 2 YEARS ON THIS VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UNBEKNOWNST TO HIM, THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT FULLY COMPLETED AND THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE SUB-FRAME BEING COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER REPAIRED ONLY PART OF THE FRONT SUB-FRAME, THEY DID NOT REPLACE IT. THE CONSUMER LATER LEARNED FORD'S INSTRUCTION WAS TO PERFORM COSMETIC REPAIR OF THE CORROSIVE DAMAGE ON THE FRONT SUB-FRAME. SIX MONTHS LATER, WHEN THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL SERVICE STATION FOR AN OIL CHANGE, HE WAS INFORMED THE SUB-FRAME MOUNT WAS COMPLETELY ROTTED OUT. THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS SEVERELY RUSTED AND HAD A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. I NARROWLY AVOIDED GETTING T BONED AND CRASHED HEAD FIRST INTO A SMALL HILL. MY FIANCE AND MY SELF WERE UNINJURED BUT WHERE EXTREMELY SHOOK UP OVER THIS. I LOST ALL CONTROL OF THE STEERING AND THE ENTIRE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WHERE ON THE GROUND. A FEW WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING MY VAN I HAD ISSUES WITH MY BRAKE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT COMING ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THAT DAY IT WAS 95 DEGREES AND SUNNY. I ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND THE ONLY THINGS THAT STOPPED ME WAS THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. IT CONTINUED TO DO IT EVERY TIME I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN TO STOP THAT I REFUSED TO PUT MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. LAST WEEK AFTER ALMOST CAUSING A FEW ACCIDENTS I ENDED UP PULLING THE MAIN FUSES TO THE ABS. SINCE I HAVE DONE THIS THE ONLY ISSUE I HAVE HAD IS MY SPEEDOMETER ACTING UP. I FEEL THAT FORD NEEDS TO SERIOUSLY LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE. I HAVE ALREADY HAD 5 RECALLS FIXED ON MY VAN AND THIS NEEDS TO BE ANOTHER ONE. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 168,000.
I GOT ABS SIGN SOMEWHERE IN FEBRUARY. IT PASS MY MAY INSPECTION TOO. BUT FINALLY I DECIDED TO GET IT CHECKED AND IT TURNED OUT THAT ABS MODULE IS FAULTY.
