This page combines three types of NHTSA data: recall campaigns (official manufacturer or government actions), owner complaints (unverified consumer reports), and crash test ratings (where available). A vehicle with many complaints is not necessarily less reliable — complaint volume correlates with sales volume and vehicle age. Recalls indicate identified defects, not overall quality. To compare this model year with others, use the year navigation in the sidebar or return to the model overview page.

The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) on my Genesis GV60 called Highway Driving Assist (HDA) would randomly turn off without warning ever since I purchased the vehicle. I use it pretty much daily for my commute to work (but have to watch closely since it turns off often without warning) and the system would randomly turn off a least a few times a day so I would need to take over quickly. Yesterday when I was driving in the carpool HOV lane in the Los Angeles area where some sections of the freeway have lane markers that are very close to the center divider and the car decided to randomly turn off ADAS without warning which resulted in a car swipe against the center divider and damaged the front bumper as well as a broken side rearview mirror. I did a random search online and found lots of complaints from other Genesis/Hyundai/Kia owners who have similar issues am surprised why nothing has been done about it so I decided to report this. The repair would cost me almost 4 thousand dollars all because of the manufacturer defect that probably could be easily fixed with over the air update. Please investigate to prevent other drivers from getting into a crash for this defective. Thanks.
The ICCU failed again. This is the second failure and this failure occurred after the previous recalls were applied.
Car stopped taking a charge. ICCU and fuse seem to have died. This widespread problem needs to be addressed by the manufacturer. It's dangerous and careless to not have fixed the issue years later.
I purchased a used 2023 Genesis GV60 on [XXX] from a franchised Genesis dealer in New Jersey (Genesis of Wayne, Wayne, NJ). At the time of delivery, the vehicle had an open safety recall with an available remedy and it was not completed prior to sale/delivery. After purchase, Genesis’ official recall/campaign lookup for my VIN showed at least one open safety recall listed as “Incomplete.” The dealer had represented that recalls were addressed, but Genesis’ system continued to show the safety recall as open. Vehicle: 2023 Genesis GV60 VIN: [enter full VIN] Recall/Campaign information shown as open/incomplete: •Campaign/Recall 027G (NHTSA Recall No. 25V474000) – Instrument panel cluster display may go blank (software update). Status shown as incomplete at/after delivery. •[If applicable] Campaign/Recall 028G – [Windshield molding / other campaign], status shown as incomplete at/after delivery. I am submitting this report because the vehicle was delivered to a consumer with an open safety recall that had an available remedy, and the manufacturer’s own system indicated the recall remained incomplete. I can provide supporting documentation upon request (Genesis recall lookup screenshots showing “Incomplete,” dealer sale paperwork, and communications). In 2023 & 2025, my vehicle had been brought into the Genesis dealership to complete NHTSA 24V868000 safety recall by receiving a new software (Service Campaigns 907G & 025G). However, despite that, on [XXX], the vehicle's ICCU failed while I was traveling at highway speeds. The ICCU is the primary component that the safety recall was supposed to address, yet it failed anyways. The car suddenly and dangerously reduced propulsion on the freeway, and I had to slowly maneuver the car onto the shoulder where the car then completely lost all propulsion entirely. My family and I were in the car, and our safety was at extreme risk since the car lost propulsion without warning on the freeway and other vehicles had to swerve around us. There was the very real possibility that had I not reacted quickly, that we would have been fully immobilized on the freeway, blocking traffic and creating a real safety hazard for other vehicles. There were no warning lights or any indications that the part was going to fail -- it failed immediately, and only after that did multiple warning messages appeared due to systems downstream of the ICCU failing as a result of the ICCU's failure. The dealership (Genesis of Dublin) confirmed that the failure was specific to the ICCU and the vehicle had its ICCU replaced under the 10 year powertrain warranty. I have documentation proving that the problem was caused by the ICCU's failure. In addition, the ICCU's replacement with an identical ICCU simply means this extremely dangerous hazard can occur again without warning in 1 to 2 years' time, since the replaced ICCU is the same unit that failed before - no updates to the ICCU have been announced by Genesis or its dealerships. I reiterate: the problem persists despite 24V868000 being preventative recalls completed. Recall 907G Completed 10/26/23 Recall 025G Completed 01/13/25 The above mitigations are not enough to fix the problem and avoid a dangerous situation. Water pump failure in vehicle less than two years of age. Dealer stated car was not safe to drive. Instrument cluster had a warning light, the app had details of the failures, and the display in the vehicle had a pop up stating the car needed to be serviced TODAY!
While driving car, I heard a "pop" sound coming from the back seat, my ICCU had failed and then there was a sudden loss vehicle power and the car went into a limp mode. The car only had 5,650 miles on it. This is a serious safety hazard. The car was towed to the dealership and a new ICCU was installed. The replacement part was the same model number that had failed. I was advised by the service adviser that I could possibly experience another ICCU failure in the future.
My Genesis EV has experienced multiple incidents where the vehicle suddenly decelerates while driving and limits its speed to approximately 20 mph, creating a significant safety hazard. The first incident occurred in September 2025, when the vehicle unexpectedly began to decelerate on its own and would not exceed ~20 mph. I brought it to the Genesis dealership, but they were unable to reproduce the issue. The second incident occurred in November 2025, with the same failure: sudden deceleration and a maximum speed of ~20 mph. I brought the vehicle back to the dealership. They have kept the car for diagnosis but again report they “cannot reproduce” the problem. The issue remains unresolved, and Genesis has denied my buyback request. This is an intermittent EV drivetrain or power-delivery failure that prevents the vehicle from accelerating normally. If this occurs in traffic, at intersections, or during merging, it could easily lead to a collision. The vehicle is currently still at the dealership because I do not feel safe driving it. Multiple attempts to have the problem repaired have not identified the cause. I am reporting this because sudden loss of acceleration and speed limitation is a major safety issue, and other drivers may experience the same failure.
Complete ICCU failure resulting in loss of power on the freeway during rush hour, extremely dangerous for me and everyone around me. Car was towed twice over three years for the same issue, despite having all recalls done. Eventually lemon law eligible, did a buyback.
The headlights have excessive moisture on the inside. Genesis replaced them once a year ago but now they have moisture on the inside lens so bad that you can't see the LED bulbs. This is a known issue with the GV60 and even though the car is under warranty Genesis will not cover this under warranty, they say it's normal! The moisture is changing the way the headlights light up the road and this moisture issue is a major safety concern. This needs to be fixed, no headlight beam should ever be obstructed by material inside the headlight assembly. The chrome trim strip above the windshield flew off while driving. This poses a safety hazard for anyone driving behind a GV60 and unfortunately this issue seems to be very widespread (examples: [XXX] ). Genesis refused to fix the issue for me despite being under warranty, so I suspect they are doing the same for other owners despite the safety risk. The vehicle's instrument panel, behind steering wheel displaying things like speed and warning signs, periodically goes blank at start up for between 30 seconds and 15 minutes. There are lots of reports of this problem on sites like Redit and Genesis Forum, however, Genesis has not issued a recall for even a service bulletin. This apparently common problem is a safety hazard as the driver does not have access to critical safety information, including the vehicle's speed, for a period of time. Because this problem is periodic, it is often difficult to verify at the dealership as it does not produce fault codes. This leaves consumers in a bind as the problem persists since the dealership and manufacturer will not always address.
On 3/5/2025 I was driving my car and accelerating to 45 miles per hour when the Stop vehicle and check power supply warning on my car showed on the dash followed by a loud and starting audible tone. I pulled over to check the car and it still worked well. I then went home and tried to charge the vehicle off of our level 2 charger and the vehicle would not start to charge. I brought the car to the dealer the next day after charging the 12 volt battery overnight. I charged the 12 volt battery because the car was no longer charging it as the charging system was not working. The dealer then diagnosed that the ICCU and main fuse were broken and needed replacement. These were the problem parts that previous NHTSA recalls were issued and completed on this vehicle to address this failure. My car still failed with around 6,750 miles driven. I want to let the NHTSA know that the failures of this critical part are still happening despite the manufacturer's recalls being completed in a timely manner.
Upon startup, the dashboard cluster that displays safety information and the speedometer did not power on until several minutes had passed. This happens randomly. This console includes the safety warning information and the speedometer and is not the infotainment screen (which worked as it should). This has not been reported to the dealership yet, though the issue is known and discussed on several owner forums.
I leased a Genesis GV60 in July 2023. The car was under a stop sale order and had to be repaired before it was leased to me because of a known issue with the rear axle. The dealership performed the fix to the vehicle and then proceeded to lease me the vehicle. In January 2025 while driving approximately 40 MPH on a paved flat road, I experienced a sudden thud and loss of power. When I applied pressure to the accelerator a loud angry noise came from the back of the vehicle. Smoke and a burning smell came from the back of the vehicle. There were electrical issues with the car being initial unresponsive to attempts to put the car in park, unlock doors and turn off the vehicle. We left the vehicle on the side of the road. We were in a remote location in a very cold climate with no cell phone signal at dusk. We flagged down a passing-by driver for transport to a safe location where we could call Genesis Emergency Roadside assistance. The car was towed to an authorized Genesis dealership and the rear axle was replaced at no cost to me. Repair staff at the dealership confirmed that based on their inspection there was no indication that the car had experienced any type of impact / injury that could explain the fractured rear axle. In March 2025, again I was driving on a paved flat road going approximately 30 MPH. As I was approaching a stop sign, I again experienced what felt like a sudden thud, and heard a high pitched whine. When I tried to accelerate off the stop sign and cross traffic I again experienced a lack of power with an angry noise and the smell of smoke. The car was towed to the original dealership where the vehicle was purchased and it was confirmed that the rear axle had broken again just two months after having been replaced. I am unwilling to drive the vehicle again our of concern for my safety and that of others.
Ever since the update that came to my car last October (update 24.11.1), the instrument cluster screen of my car does not turn on initially upon starting the car around half the time I start it. It will turn on eventually, varying in time anywhere from 1-10 minutes later. My local dealership has yet been able to fix it and tell me they have no idea why this would be happening and over the many attempts to fix this and many service appointments they now say that they need to replace the entire display but that none of available and not sure when they will be. Reading through the owners forums, I am not alone with this issue [XXX] ) Obviously, the car isn't safe to drive this way even though I continue to make my monthly payments to Genesis, so hoping someone can help me. (I've included two photos for reference...one where you can see the instrument cluster information screen off and then about 5 minutes later when it turned on.) Completed NHTSA recall 24V-868 at my dealer December 13th 2024. ICCU failed on 1/1/2025 and I am awaiting on the 3rd ICCU for my vehicle in less than 2 years. Similar issue happened December 2023, completed the ICCU recall and had the ICCU fail in a similar fashion.
This car is fully electric. Upon start up in cold weather and for up to about 5 miles thereafter, the instrument panel remains black. This eliminates any displayed driving information including warnings, speedometer, driving mode and other items such as brake regeneration, etc. The distance traveled before the panel eventually energizes appears to be increasing. All other vehicle functions continue to operate. A saving grace for my car is that it displays the speed in the heads-up-display but all other information is unavailable. The dealer has determined that the instrument panel will be replaced under warranty. They state that the book price for the panel is in excess of $9,000! The car has approximately 23K mi at this time (1/13/2025)
Since the weather got colder, the driver's instrument cluster does not display immediately when the vehicle is powered on. When cold, the cluster takes from a few seconds to several minutes to come on. While it is off, there is no access to any warning lights or messages.
The contact owns a 2023 Genesis GV60. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, it was noticed that the battery percentage was excessively draining. The charger port warning light was illuminated. The contact attempted to depress the brake pedal however, the vehicle failed to decrease in speed; the vehicle suddenly became difficult to maneuver. The vehicle was veered onto the sidewalk and the front driver's side of the vehicle crashed into a street lighting junction box. There was cosmetic damage however, the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained several injuries including emotional distress, back pain, and neck pain; the contact was taken to a local hospital in an ambulance to seek medical attention. No other injured individuals were reported. The doctor diagnosed the contact with a mild concussion and prescribed medicine for nausea and headaches. The vehicle was not drivable and was towed to a local Towing Service Center for a diagnosis. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 24,300.
