OUR CAR WAS SERVICED BY JIM SALERNO GMC IN RANDOLPH,NJ ON 5/4/13. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT IN TO CHECK THE TRANSMISSION THAT WAS INSTALLED BY SALERNO IN 2011 BUT WE WERE TOLD TRANS IS OK, THE TIMING CHAINS NEED TO BE REPLACED. WE GET THE JOB DONE WHICH REQUIRES THEM TO TAKE THE ENGINE OUT OF THE CAR. WE GET THE CAR BACK FROM THEM AND IT IS IDLING VERY LOW TO THE POINT IT STALLED ONCE WHEN MY WIFE STOPPED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR TO GET OUR MAIL. AND WE NOTICED IT DIDN'T START UP THE SAME AS BEFORE (SLOWER) BUT WE DIDN'T MENTION THIS TO SALERNO BECAUSE WE TRUSTED THEM IN DOING THE JOB RIGHT (BIG MISTAKE!) FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS, MY WIFE DOES SOME LOCAL DRIVING WITH THE CAR UNTIL 6/22/13 WHEN WE (MY WIFE AND I AND OUR TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND OUR DOG) LEFT FOR A LONG DRIVE UP TO MAINE. WE MADE IT INTO MASSACHUSETTS AND THEN AN ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY A LOT OF RATTLING FROM THE ENGINE. THIS WAS QUITE SCARY SINCE THE CAR STARTED DRIVING ERRATICALLY AND WE WERE TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS ON RT 84. WE LUCKILY PULL OVER INTO A SMALL REST STOP AND 5 HOURS LATER, A INGERSOLL GMC COMES WITH A FLATBED TRUCK AND A LOANER CAR. *TR
DRIVING UP HILL, LOOSING POWER, FINALLY MADE IT UP HILL CAR JUST STOPPED - ALMOST LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL GEAR. COULDN'T GO ANYWHERE, CAR STARTED RIGHT UP AND WHEN I PRESSED ON GAS IT REVVED UP LIKE IT WANTED TO GO, BUT NO MOVEMENT. STILL LIKE IN NEUTRAL GEAR. FOUND OUT THAT LOTS OF 07 AND 08 ACADIA OWNERS HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE WAVE PLATE (WHICH IS WHAT MECHANIC AT DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT IS). AND THE POWER TRAIN, WHICH ENDS UP MAKING THE TRANSMISSION FAIL. THERE ARE FAR TOO MANY ACADIAS OWNERS OUT THERE WHO HAVE HAD THESE ISSUES. I THINK IT'S WRONG THAT GMC DOESN'T INVESTIGATE OR RECALL THE CARS FOR THIS COST. I CALLED GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FEEL AS IF THEY DON'T TRULY CARE, THEY JUST WANT TO SNUB OFF THE ISSUE AND TELL YOU TO HAVE A GREAT DAY! MY DAD WORKED FOR GMC FOR 20 YEARS, AND I ALWAYS HAD A HIGH OPINION OF THEM UP UNTIL NOW. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THEM. I FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE LOST THEIR LOYAL CUSTOMERS. BECAUSE OF THIS I WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY GMC WHICH IS A SHAME BECAUSE THAT'S ALL MY DAD BOUGHT IN THE PAST IS GMC. I AM GRATEFUL THAT THE CAR DIDN'T GIVE OUT WHILE I WAS GOING UP THE HILL AND I DIDN'T HAVE MY KIDS IN THE CAR. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT UP THE HILL. I FEEL GMC SHOULD STEP UP AND INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AND REPLACE THEM WITH MORE QUALITY PARTS. I FEEL AS IF THE ACADIA IS VERY CHEAPLY MADE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD RATTLING FROM THE FRONT END AND NOTICED A BURNING OIL SMELL. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT FOUR OF THE DRIVE-SHAFT BOLTS WERE MISSING AND TWO WERE BENT. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 95,000. ...UPDATED 07/22/13 *BF
WHILE DRIVING AT OVER 65 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES, CAUSING CAR TO COAST TO A STOP. REDUCED ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION PERFORMANCE. ALSO INTERMITTENT DRIVEABILILTY ISSUES, TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT, FALSE MESSAGES/CODES RE: STABILITRAK, AIR BAG, ONSTAR, OIL AND GAS GAUGES, ETC.. AT 122,936 MILES IN JULY, 2014, TRANSMISSION REPLACED AT COST OF $4967.42. *CN
POWERTRAIN (TRANSMISSION) GAVE - OUT AT 72100 MILES ON MY 2007 GMC ACADIA AND GMC DEALER STATING "MOVE PLATE" AND "CONTROLLED MODULE" AND ESTIMATES ARE AT $4000.00. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IT SHOULD BE MENTION ON NHTSA AND HAVE GMC MAKE A RECALL. *TR
THIS ISSUE STARTED WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 35MPG. THE ACADIA TRIED TO SHIFT INTO A HIGHER GEAR BUT CLUNKED VERY LOUDLY AND JOLTED THE WHOLE CAR. FROM THAT POINT FORWARD THE VEHICLE WAS STICK IN 3RD GEAR. IT WOULDN'T UP SHIFT OR DOWN SHIFT. THE CAR LIMPED HOME BUT STARTING ON HILLS OR AT STOP SIGNS WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. ONCE I GOT THE CAR HOME I CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. TRANSMISSION FLUID OK. I THEN TESTED THE CAR AGAIN BY TRYING TO BACK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. THE TRANSMISSION MADE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND WOULD NOW LONGER MOVE IN REVERSE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED FROM MY HOUSE TO A LOCAL TRUSTED MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE WAVEPLATE FAILED. HE ALSO SAID THAT THIS WAS A KNOW DEFICIENCY IN THESE VEHICLES AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED OR REBUILT. I HAD TO SPEND $3950 TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION ON A 2007 VEHICLE WITH 80000 MILES. I WOULD APPRECIATE A REIMBURSEMENT FROM GM FOR THIS OBVIOUS QUALITY PROBLEM. *TR
ON MONDAY, WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR, I STARTED NOTICING THAT THE CAR WAS NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY. I DID NOT THINK MUCH ABOUT IT. THEN ON THE WED OF THAT WEEK AS I WAS DRIVING IN A MAJOR CITY DOWNTOWN AREA FOR THE MORNING COMMUTE, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON... I WAS AT A STOP TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND THE RPM'S REVVED. STEPPED ON THE GAS AND THE CAR WOULD ONLY GO 1 TO 2 MILES AN HOUR THEN SPEED UP ... DEALER SAID THAT THERE WERE "MANY PARTS IN THE PAN" AND THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. $3600 PLUS TAX OR HAVE IT REBUILT $3300 PLUS TAX. CALLED GM AFTER READING THE VARIOUS POST ON EDMUNDS ABOUT THE ACADIA PROBLEMS. THEY WERE VERY NICE AND OPENED A CLAIM BUT AS OF YET, NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK. WHEN THEY OPENED THE CLAIM THEY SAID SOMEONE WOULD BE IN TOUCH WITHIN 2 BUSINESS DAYS (AND THEY WOULD SEE WHAT THEY COULD DO ON SAVING ME SOME MONEY ON THE BILL) AS I WAS DUE BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP TO PICK UP MY CAR. *TR
NO PRIOR PROBLEMS, NO WARNINGS. WE PULLED UP TO A STOP SIGN, CAME TO A STOP AND THEN PROCEEDED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. WE WERE LEFT STALLED IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAD MYSELF AND 5 PASSENGERS INCLUDING FOUR CHILDREN AGES 10 AND UNDER. IF THE TRAFFIC HAD NOT STOPPED WE ALL COULD HAVE SUFFERED MAJOR INJURIES. THERE WAS NO REASON PRIOR TO THE FAILURE TO SUSPECT THAT THERE WE ANY PROBLEMS. NO ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS OR ANYTHING. *TR
WHILE AN HOUR FROM HOME, I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A TOWN AND SUDDENLY COULD GET NO "PICKUP" TO START AFTER STOPPING AT A STOPLIGHT. I WAS JUST SITTING THERE IN THE INTERSECTION WHILE TRAFFIC DROVE AROUND ME. I CONTINUED TO MY DESTINATION THIS WAY, BARELY ABLE TO GET GOING AFTER STOPPING. THEN WHEN COMING HOME I HAD "PICKUP" BUT THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTING IMPROPERLY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED A BROKEN WAVE PLATE AND SAID IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. AFTER READING ABOUT ALL THE OTHER ACADIA OWNERS WHO ARE ALSO HAVING THIS PROBLEM, I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY GMC. I DROVE MY CAR AFTER I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION, AND THE TRANSMISSION FAILED IN A BIG WAY WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. SUDDENLY I WAS PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL, BUT NOTHING WAS HAPPENING - MY VEHICLE WAS JUST COASTING. I THINK THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL TO FIX THESE FAULTY WAVE PLATES. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. TURNS OUT THE 2007-2009 MODELS HAVE A KNOWN ISSUE OF A FAILED "WAVE PLATE". MY SON AND I WERE ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE GMC DEALER. *TR
PROBLEMS WITH WINDOW CONTROL WHILE DRIVING, UNABLE TO RAISE UP WINDOW ON PASSENGER SIDE FROM THE DRIVER CONTROLS. *TR
ON 1/25/13 OUR 2007 GMC ACADIA WAS TOWED TO THE SHOW FOR WHAT WAS DESCRIBED AS A TIMING CHAIN PREMATURE WARE AND WAS COVERED UNDER A RECALL. THE MILEAGE ON THAT DATE WAS 52,788. IT IS OUR UNDERSTANDING THAT THE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REMOVED. ON MAY 18TH 2013 I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR MADE A LOUD NOISE AND DECELERATED DOWN TO 25 MPH WITH A HIGH RPM. AT THAT POINT I PULLED OVER. I NOTICED THE CAR HAD NO REVERSE. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE LOCAL GM DEALER. TODAY THEY CALLED AND SAID THE TRANSMISSION IS SHOT. CURRENT MILEAGE 55,308. WAITING TO HEAR BACK ON EXACT ISSUE. AFTER READING ONLINE THIS IS A KNOW DESIGN FLAW AND HAS BEEN SINCE CORRECTED. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR GM'S DESIGN FLAWS. ALSO THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOUR VEHICLE SLOWS TO A MAXIMUM OF 25MPH ON A MAIN ROAD OR HIGHWAY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AROUND 5:05PM ON THE 5 NORTH FREEWAY GOING ABOUT 65 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND I FELT A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER IN MY ACCELERATION. AS I STEPPED ON THE GAS MORE TO KEEP UP WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC, THE RPM NEEDLE JUMPED UP TO BETWEEN 4 AND 6 ON MY GAUGE, BUT MY VEHICLE WASN'T GOING ANY FASTER SO I HAD TO STEER TO THE RIGHT TO GET TO THE EXIT. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO EXIT WITHOUT ALMOST GETTING REAR ENDED BUT I HAD NO CHOICE AS MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO OVER 40MPH. AFTER GETTING IT CHECKED AT THE NEAREST SHOP, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A STUCK SOLENOID. AFTER I GOT THAT FIXED, 4 MONTHS LATER, SAME PROBLEM, BUT NOW THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME THEY WILL HAVE TO REBUILD MY TRANSMISSION DUE TO A BROKEN WAVE PLATE, WHICH WILL COST ME AT LEAST $2800, WHICH I DON'T HAVE. *TR
1-HEATED WASHER REMOVED, CATALYST CONVERTER REPLACED, TIMING CHAIN ISSUE, FUEL PUMP, HEAD LIGHTS ALL REPLACE DUE TO DEFECT AND NOW @ 89,500 I HAVE A MAJOR TRANSMISSION ISSUE A PO752 CODE HAS BEEN NOTED AND THE CAR IS 5.5 YEARS OLD AND BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT GMC IS AWARE OF AND FAILED TO FIX, EVEN SUGGGESTED BY AMAACO THE TCM MAY EVEN NEED REPLACING. FEEL LIKE THIS CAR HAS BEEN ONE DEFECT AFTER ANOTHER WHICH LED TO OTHER DEFECTS HAPPENING AND PREMATURE WEAR AND TEAR ON OTHER PARTS. *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO FAULTY FACTORY ISSUED WAVE PLATE. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL AS GM APPEARS TO BE VERY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM IN MOST EARLY YEAR MODEL ACADIAS. THE PRICE TAG ALONE IS $4,000+... NOT TO MENTION A RENTAL CAR AND MAKING PAYMENTS ON AN UNDRIVABLE VEHICLE WHILE IT SITS FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG SINCE THE TRANSMISSION IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER BECAUSE ITS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM. *TR
WE BOUGHT THIS CAR USED. HAD IT FOR LESS THAN A YEAR AND ONLY PUT 8,000 MILES ON IT. ON A RETURN BUSINESS TRIP THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WHILE GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. HAD TO CALL FOR A TOW AND HAVE HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCES WITH THE DEALERSHIPS WORKING ON IT. I'M ABSOLUTELY OVER THIS GMC AND THE JUNKY CAR THEY CREATED IN THE ACADIA. *TR
ON THIS PARTICULAR DAY I WAS MERGING ON TO THE FREEWAY (WHICH SPEEDS OF OTHER TRAFFIC WAS UPWARDS OF 65 MPH). I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND IN DOING SO WAS UNABLE TO SWITCH GEARS. THE VEHICLE "BOGGED DOWN" AND NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AS I WASN'T GAINING SPEED. THIS ISSUE REPEATEDLY HAPPENED ON MY WAY HOME, TRAVELING A DISTANCE OF 60 MILES. THIS MALFUNCTION ACCORDING TO SOME DISCUSSIONS ON EDMUNDS IS WELL KNOWN BY GM! IT NEEDS TO BE MORE THAN FIXED, THE TRANSMISSIONS NEED REPLACEMENT. A BANDAID ISN'T GOING TO WORK IN THIS CASE. *TR
CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE, ENGINE JUST REVS AND RPMS INCREASE TO 5000+ WHEN ATTAMPTING TO CHANGE FROM THIRD TO FOURTH GEAR. THANKFULLY, I WAS ON A ROAD LESS TRAVELED AND DID NOT GET SMASHED IN THE BACK WITH MY SON IN THE BACK SEAT ON THE HIGHWAY. WHAT A SAFETY HAZARD! *TR
AFTER TRAVELING 160 MILES AND EXITING THE FREEWAY THE POWER STEERING WAS INOPERABLE STOPPED TO CHECK FLUID WAS FULL. STEERING IS FINE AS LONG AS THE CAR IS ABOVE 20 MPH. STOPPED AT SMALL TOWN SHOP, MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS NOTHING NEW WITH THIS CAR. AND THAT GMC HAS PLENTY OF CHANGES WHEN REPLACING THE SYSTEM BOTH PUMP AND RACK AS WELL AS DIFFERENT FLUID BUT WOULD NOT HELP ME WITH ANY COST. FOR WHAT IS WORTH THE NHTSA KNOWS ALL ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WOULD NOT HOLD MY BREATH ON THEM DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM UNTIL THIS CAR IS FULLY LOADED WITH EIGHT PEOPLE AND THEY ALL ARE KILLED THEN THEY WILL WAKE UP! *TR
NO SPEED ENTERING THE FREEWAY AND THEN REVERSE SHOT THE CAR FORWARD INTO A FRONT YARD AND ALMOST INTO A HOUSE. I ENTERED THE FREEWAY AFTER PICKING MY 4 YEAR OLD UP FROM PRE-SCHOOL WITH MY 1 YEAR OLD ALSO IN THE CAR. THE CAR WOULD NOT GAIN SPEED AND RPMS SPIKING. NEARLY GOT IN AN ACCIDENT MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY, EXITED FIRST OFFRAMP, PULLED INTO NEIGHBORHOOD AND TURNED INTO DRIVEWAY TO DO A THREE POINT TURN TO PARK ON THE SIDE OF STREET. PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE LIGHTLY TAPPED THE PEDAL, AND INSTEAD IT SPED FORWARD AS THOUGH THE GAS PEDAL WAS PINNED TO THE FLOOR. WE WENT DEEP INTO THE FRONT YARD OF HOUSE STOPPING JUST SHORT OF THE HOUSE. AAA CAME AND TOWED THE CAR TO THE CLOSEST GM DEALER. AAA DRIVER TESTED REVERSE AND IT WOULD ONLY GO FORWARD. HE SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. SO GRATEFUL THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN MINUTES BEFORE IN THE PRESCHOOL PARKING LOT WHICH IS A U SHAPE WHERE THE PARENTS LINE UP AND THE TEACHERS BRING THE KIDS OUT. THE EXPERIENCE WAS TERRIFYING. WE PARKED NEXT TO AN ACADIA YESTERDAY AND MY 4 YEAR OLD SAID "MOMMY WE SHOULD TELL THEM THEY HAVE A BAD CAR." CALLED GM IMMEDIATELY AND EVERY DAY SINCE (2 WEEKS) - NO RESPONSE, I AM JUST SHUFFLED BETWEEN REPRESENTATIVES. MY CAR IS STILL SITTING IN THE DEALER'S LOT. MY CAR ALSO HAD A PURGE VALUE PROBLEM CAUSING IT NOT TO START AFTER GETTING GAS, AND A POWER STEERING PROBLEM. IT IS ONE THING FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL AT 64,000 MILES AND ANOTHER FOR IT TO ALMOST DRIVE YOU THROUGH SOMEONE'S HOUSE. GM DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE. *TR
WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE, WOULD NOT EXCEED 20 MPH IN DRIVE, RPM'S SPIKED TO 4000, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, ERRATIC DRIVING BECAUSE OF THE CONDITION, WEB SEARCH REVEALS NUMEROUS INCIDENTS OF SAME TYPE INVOLVING BREAKING WAVE PLATE FAILURE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 40 MPH. IN ADDITION, THE GEAR SHIFTER COULD NOT BE MOVED INTO REVERSE. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,400.
BOUGHT WITH 58K MILES ON IT, 9/2012. PROBLEMS BEGAN THE FOLLOWING APRIL. SITTING AT RED LIGHTS, THE TRUCK WOULD STALL OUT AT ACCELERATION, OCCASIONALLY NOT RESTARTING IMMEDIATELY. DEALERS COULDN'T REPLICATE PROBLEM. PROBLEM BRIEFLY STOPPED, AND NOW IT HAS RETURNED AND IS FAR WORSE. WHILE DRIVING, IT SHAKES AND JERKS LIKE A NEW DRIVER LEARNING TO USE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. SEVERAL TIMES THE TRUCK HAS SHUT OFF COMPLETELY ON HIGHWAYS WHILE CRUISING AT OR AROUND 70MPH OR ACCELERATING TO PASS SOMEONE, NEARLY CAUSING ACCIDENTS. THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN TOWED HOME 3 TIMES THIS MONTH FROM THIS ISSUE, I REFUSED TO TAKE IT TO A GMC DEALER BECAUSE I CAN'T KEEP PAYING $109 FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY SAY THEY DON'T FIND ANYTHING (TWICE ALREADY). I RECENTLY HAD THE VEHICLE SCANNED INDEPENDENTLY AND IT'S GIVEN ME CODES 7EA AND 7E8. THE SECOND CODE DOESN'T GIVE A DIAGNOSIS. IN THE LAST WEEK IT HAS FAILED TO START 4 TIMES AND I'VE BEEN KEEPING VIDEO BLOGS TO RECORD WHAT IT IS OR ISN'T DOING. IT IS CURRENTLY SITTING IN MY DRIVE WAY, NOT OPERABLE. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE SAYS THERE ISN'T ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT A RECALL, BUT EVERYONE IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. TWICE IT STRANDED MY WIFE AND CHILDREN ON INTERSTATES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V062000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
AFTER SPENDING $370.51 AT MY LOCAL GMC DEALER FOR STABILITRAK ERRORS RESULTING IN LOW FUEL INPUT INTO THE ENGINE, WITH A MAXIMUM SPEED ALLOWABLE AT 35 MPH, MY 2007 GMC ACADIA IS ONCE AGAIN EXPERIENCING STABILITRAK ERRORS. THEY GENERALLY OCCUR WHEN I ROLL TO A STOP AT A STOPSIGN OR STOPLIGHT, BUT I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WILL REDUCE SPEED WHEN I TRAVEL THE INTERSTATE. MY LOCAL GMC DEALER CLAIMED THIS PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY A "CAM EXHAUST POSITION SENSOR FAULT" AND REPLACED THE "CAM EXHAUST POSITION SENSOR" ON 3-20-13 FOR $370.51. FOR ONE WEEK THIS REPAIR WORKED AND THERE WERE NO STABILITRAK ERRORS. TEN DAYS LATER, MY 2007 GMC ACADIA FWD IS WORSE THAN EVER, ENDANGERING ME AT NIGHT BY SHIFTING SUDDENLY INTO "STABILITRAK ERROR, LOW FUEL INPUT" MODE. I AM TERRIFIED THAT MY GMC DEALER WILL CHARGE ME MORE MONEY TO PRETEND-FIX THIS PROBLEM, AS THEY HAVE ME COMING IN FOR $400-$1,100 REPAIRS EVERY OTHER MONTH NOW SINCE THEY WANT TO SELL ME A NEW CAR. *TR

ENGINE LIGHT ON VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR - HAPPENED THREE TIMES HAD TO PULL OFF SIDE OF ROAD TO NOT GET HIT FROM OTHER VEHICLES AND 5 YEAR OLD WAS ALSO IN CAR WITH ME. ALSO FOUND INTERNAL DEFECT PARK OF VALVE BODY. CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND HAS ONLY 55 THOUSAND MILES ON IT. SAW OTHER ISSUES ON THIS DATABASE ALL WITH BROKEN WAVE PLATES ON 07 ACADIAS. WHEN IT RAINS EITHER HEAVILY OR FOR LONG PERIODS IN CHICAGO MY GMC TENDS TO FLOOD IN THE PASSENGER FLOOR AND BY THE TV AND 3RD ROW LIGHTS. I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN 2013. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR 6 YEARS AND I HAVE TAKEN IN TO A DEALERSHIP ONCE AND THEY QUOTED ME CLOSE TO $500 TO DO A TEST AND LET WATER RAIN ON THE CAR AND SEE IF IT IS A MANUFACTURE OR OWNER FAULTY ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING TO THE STORE, GOING DOWN HILL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. MID-WAY DOWN A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE COMPUTER SAYING "ENGINE FAILURE, POWER OFF" AND THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN WITH OUT WARNING. NO MATTER HOW HARD I PRESSED ON THE GAS THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF. THE STEERING WENT OUT AS WELL AND I HAD TO STAND IN THE SEAT TO USE ALL MY POWER TO TURN THE WHEEL. PREVIOUS TO THIS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD NOT BEEN ON, NO ADVANCE WARNING OF THIS. I HAD BOTH OF MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR AT THE TIME. LUCKILY THERE WAS A BP GAS STATION WITH GARAGE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL, I WAS ABLE TO COAST THE CAR INTO THE GAS STATION WHERE THEY RAN DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRED MY CAR AND RESET THE SENSORS. NINE MONTHS LATER I WAS DRIVING WITH BOTH OF MY CHILDREN AGAIN, IN NORTH EAST WASHINGTON DC WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE THE SAME MESSAGE APPEARED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART THE ENGINE ONE TIME. I TURNED AROUND TO GO HOME AND ON THE DRIVE HOME THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON A LESS OF AN INCLINE OF A HILL. THE CAR SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY TOWARDS THE TOP OF THE HILL GOING DOWN. SAME AS BEFORE, NO GAS AND NO STEERING ABILITY. I WAS TOO SCARED TO LEAVE THE CAR ON THE SIDE AS CARS COMING OVER THE HILL WOULD NOT HAVE TIME TO STOP BEFORE HITTING US. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND TRIED TO GLIDE DOWN THE HILL TO THE SHELL STATION. THE CAR CUT OUT COMPLETELY AND LOST ALL MOMENTUM SO I HAD TO PUSH THE CAR INTO THE GAS STATION AND WAIT 3 HOURS FOR THE TOW TRUCK TO ARRIVE. IT WENT BACK TO THE BP STATION FROM FEBRUARY AND HAD A NEW BATTERY AND SEVERAL OTHER ITEMS REPLACED. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN 2007 AND HAVE HAD COUNTLESS BREAKDOWNS AND REPLACEMENTS- TWO TRANSMISSIONS WITHIN THE FIRST 3 YEARS AND REPAIRS. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HIS HEAD AND CHEST. THE CONTACT WAS TAKEN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM BY FAMILY. THE POLICE WERE NOTIFIED AND A REPORT WAS AVAILABLE IF NEEDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO STATED THAT A REPRESENTATIVE WILL GIVE HIM A RETURN CALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000. UPDATED 3/10/13 *CN
THE VEHICLE HAS TWO PROBLEMS. THE RADIO WORKS, BUT THERE IS NO SOUND FOR THE BACK UP WARNING, TURN SIGNALS OR RADIO. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS IN THE GMC ACADIA, CHEVROLET TRAVERSE AND THE BUICK ENCLAVE. THE PROBLEM IS LIKELY THE PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE BCM OR THE AMP. WHEN DRIVEN IN THE RAIN, THE POWER STEERING FAILS MOMENTARILY AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. *TR

AT THAT TIME OF REPLACING THE POWER STEERING PUMP THE DEALERSHIP ALSO REPLACED THE RACK AND PINION AND TIMING CHAIN. NOW, IT'S THE TRANSMISSION. GOING ROUNDS WITH GM TO GET THEM TO TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE IN ITS ENTIRETY. THIS VEHICLE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 63K MILES ON IT! THIS VEHICLE IS DEFECTIVE IN EVERY WHICH WAY. I'M WORRIED ABOUT WHAT WILL GO OUT NEXT. I WAS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING RELIABLE AND SAFE AND THIS ACADIA HAS BEEN EVERYTHING BUT THAT. I HAVE SEVERAL FRIENDS THAT ARE ALSO EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES. LET THE GAME BEGIN. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE THAT I FEEL IS SO UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE. I FOUND OVER 200 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY TRYING TO GET UP A HILL WHEN THE CAR STARTED TO DO THIS. I LUCKILY WAS NOT FAR FROM MY EXIT AND MADE IT TO A GAS STATION WHEN THE CAR JUST STOPPED. *TR

THE CONTACT REMOVED THE CARPET FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE FLOORBOARD AND DISCOVERED THAT THE FLOORBOARD WAS COVERED IN MILDEW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 96,600.
PRIOR TO HAVING THE TRANSMISSION BREAK DOWN THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SHIFTING HARD FROM 2ND GEAR TO 3RD GEAR. STARTING UP A SMALL GRADE FROM A STAND STILL THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY BEGAN SLIPPING AT ABOUT 20MPH. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ONLY ABOUT 1 MILE FROM HOME SO I DROVE IT HOME AT ABOUT 25MPH. AT HOME I PUT IT IN REVERSE AND IT WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP THE NEXT DAY, THEY CALLED ME BACK LATER THAT DAY AND TOLD ME IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THEY ARE DOING THE JOB FOR $3200. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A SEIZED SOLENOID IN THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH WOULD REQUIRE REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000. *TR

HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS FOUND TO HAVE A BROKEN WAVE PLATE, DAMAGING NUMEROUS GEARS AND TORQUE CONVERTER. PRESSURE CONTROL MODULE WHICH IS PART OF THE VALVE BODY WAS BAD. HAD TO REPLACE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION, ALL SEALS, GASKETS. ALSO FOUND OUT WHEN REPLACING THAT THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING WAS LEAKING COOLANT, SO HAD TO HAVE THAT REPLACED AT SAME TIME. THIS AT A COST TO US OF OVER $3500.00. HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. WE WERE 7 MONTHS OUT OF OUR 5 YEAR/100,000 MILE WARRANTY AND GM WOULD NOT HELP IN THE LEAST. *TR

BY RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE I HAVE FOUND A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT 2007 GMC ACADIAS BETWEEN 50000 AND 80000 MILES HAVING TRANSMISSION FAILURES, BUT YET NO RECALLS. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT GMC IS WELL AWARE OF, THROUGH THEIR OWN ADMISSIONS. WHY IS THERE SUCH A DELAY WAITING FOR A RECALL? HE HAS STATED MY WARRANTY HAD RUN OUT, NEVER STATING THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE ACADIA. I THOUGHT IT WAS A SEAL PROBLEM AND SET OUT TO ORDER ONE FROM THE SAME DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED IT THAT TIME, IT WAS PROBABLY THE DRAIN HOSES, OD COURSE THE PROBLEM WAS NOT IDENTIFIED AS BEING COMMON WITH THIS VEHICLE. BUT WAS TOLD TO "BLOW OUT THE DRAIN HOSES" I HAVE TO PUT PLASTIC OVER MY CAR TO PREVENT WATER FROM ENTERING, MY RESEARCH HAS DISCOVERED SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE GMC HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS AND BE MADE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *TR
WIPERS QUIT WORKING AT 40MPH IN A FREEZING FOG/RAIN. I LIFTED HOOD AND COULD SEE WIPER LINKAGE DANGLING INSIDE COWL OF VEHICLE. I HAVE READ AND SEEN THAT THIS IS A OPEN RECALL FOR VEHICLE IN STATES WITH COMMON WINTER WEATHER. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT 45 MPH, AND WITH NO WARNING (WEIRD SHIFTING, ETC) THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED. AFTER BEING LIED TO BY THE DEALERSHIP AND GM, I DID MY OWN RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL YEAR, SO MUCH SO THAT GM HAS CREATED A SPECIAL PROGRAM TO FUND PART OF THE REPAIR IF THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. (WAVE PLATE FAILURE IN THE TRANSMISSION). THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED WITH A MANDATORY REPLACEMENT OF THE WAVE PLATE. *TR
MY 2007 GMC ACADIA'S FIRST STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS IN DECEMBER OF 2012. THE VEHICLE STARTED HAVING ISSUES WHILE TRYING TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY OR DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL FOR A PASSING AND/OR MERGING PURPOSES, THIS WOULD SOMEHOW REVERT INTO A NEUTRAL POSITION, HAVING THE RPMS REV UP AND NO FORWARD MOTION , UNTIL IT'S SORT OF CAUGHT UP ITSELF BY BACKING OFF ON THE ACCELERATOR. THE OTHER ISSUE INVOLVED PUTTING THE AUTOMOBILE INTO REVERSE ,NOT ONLY AT TIMES IT WOULDN'T GO INTO REVERSE BUT INSTEAD WOULD REVERT TO A NEUTRAL POSITION, UNTIL YOU STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN WITH THE PROCESS OF PUTTING IT BACK INTO PARK AND THEN BACK INTO REVERSE. NEVER WAS THERE A LIGHT NOR A WARNING BY THE CARS SENSORS OR ANY OTHER SYMPTOMS THAT WOULD GIVE AN OWNER A WARNING THAT THERE WOULD BE A PROBLEM COMING SOON. IN ANY EVENT, AFTER HAVING THE SYMPTOMS DESCRIBED ABOVE THE CAR SOMEHOW DROPPED INTO FIRST GEAR AND CANNOT SHIFT FROM THAT POSITION AND FINALLY, THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON. AT THE MOMENT, I AM IN THE PROCESS OF FILING A COMPLAINT WITH GM AND AT THE ADVICE OF THE GM REPRESENTATIVE, THEY ADVISE ME TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP LOOK INTO THE SITUATION. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEEING ALL THE SAME COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THERE SHOULD BE A FURTHER DISCUSSION ON THE TRANSMISSION OF THE 2007 GMC ACADIA. THANK YOU *TR
