TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE ATTEMPTED TO PUT AIR IN THE TIRE AND THE VALVE STEM FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TPMS SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,300.
EVERY SINCE I PURCHASED MY 2007 GMC ACADIA, I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH STEERING ESPECIALLY WHEN IT RAINS AND WATER GETS UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK. I HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE TRUCK SEVERAL TIMES. THEN THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT FOR THAT REASON. THEY PUT SOME KIND OF PROTECTION BEHIND BOTH OF THE FRONT WHEELS, BUT I CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH POWER STEERING AND LOSING CONTROL OF THE TRUCK. IT GETS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL; IT STIFFENS UP AND YOU CANNOT CONTROL THE TRUCK. THIS HAPPENS EVEN AFTER I HAVE PUT POWER STEERING FLUID IN THE VEHICLE. IT WILL EASE UP A BIT, THEN CONTINUES TO BE DIFFICULT TO TURN AND EVEN MAKES A SOUND WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE WHEEL. ANOTHER PROBLEM IS THAT SOMETHING KEEPS MAKING THE TEMPERATURE HANDLE GO ALL THE WAY ON HOT AND A TERRIBLE FUME SMELL IS RELEASED AND ITS LIKE THE TRUCK IS OVER-HEATING. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THE ELECTRIC: POWER WINDOWS WORK SOMETIMES, RADIO WORKS SOMETIMES, DVD PLAYER WORKS SOMETIMES, ETC. THIS BECOMES ANNOYING TO KNOW THAT YOU HAVE A "SOMETIME" VEHICLE. I WANT A RELIABLE AND SAFE VEHICLE TO RIDE MY FAMILY IN. I ALSO NOTICE THAT SOMETIMES THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH. IT SOMETIMES DELAYS PRIOR TO STARTING. *TR
I WAS COMING HOME WITH MY FIVE CHILDREN WHEN GETTING CLOSE TO HOME MY TRUCK JUST WOULD NOT GO OVER 10 MPH I WOULD PULL OVER FOR CARS BEHIND ME TO PASS AFTER I TRIED TURNING IT OFF AND RESTARTING BUT IT WOULD DO THE SAME GLAD I WAS CLOSE TO HOME THAT I WAS ABLE TO GET THEIR. I GOT HOME SHUT THE TRUCK OFF AND TRIED TO TURN BACK ON AND IT WOULDN'T I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT WAS A SENSOR AND REPLACED IT AND IT STILL DIDN'T WORK KNOW I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS THE MOTOR THAT IS BAD IT IS EMBARRASSING TO HAVE A TRUCK IN YOUR DRIVEWAY THAT YOU HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE AND STILL OWE HAVE THE AMOUNT OF WHAT IT WAS SOLD TO US. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS COMMON ON 2007 BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY MOTOR THAT WAS PUT INTO THEM AS I READ SOME OF THE REVIEWS IT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS A RECALL BECAUSE OF THE PRICE THESE TRUCKS GO FOR NEW OR USED SUPPOSE ABLY IT IS A HIGH QUALITY VEHICLE AND ITS SAD THAT THEIR IS SO MANY BAD REVIEWS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO HELP ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE AS GM KNOWS THIS ISN'T SOMETHING YOU CAN SAY I WILL GET IT FIXED RIGHT AWAY YOU ARE TALKING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR REPAIRS. *TR
LEFT FOR WORK IN THE MORNING WITH HEAVY WET SNOW FALLING BEHIND RAIN, AND PULLED OUT DRIVEWAY GOT A FEW BLOCKS DOWN AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS QUIT WORKING. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 GMC ACADIA. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MULTIPLE WORK DON ON THE TRANSMISSION AND YESTERDAY IT SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE RPMS WENT HIGH BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT. HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY AT A HIGH SPEED THIS COULD HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE OF A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER AND THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE HAD WENT BAD AND IT COST ME $1400.00...AT 83,00 MILES???? I THINK GMC SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE TERRIBLE WORKMANSHIP OF THEIR TRANSMISSIONS IN THE 2007 ACADIA. *TR
ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK, IN THE MIDDLE OF TUNNEL TRUCK TURN ON CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, IN PANEL " REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND REDUCED THE VELOCITY BY ITSELF TO 10MPH. I TURN IT OFF AND ON AGAIN , STARTED RUNNING BUT IN LESS THAN 1 MINUTE RUNNING, DID THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILURE. 2007 WAS THE FIRST YEAR OF THE GMC ACADIA. AT 94,000 MILES I DON'T THINK THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD FAIL. WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR IT CAME WITH A 5 YEAR 100,000 MILE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR 7 YEARS. I KNOW GMC HAS MADE IMPROVEMENTS TO LATER MODELS. I FEEL THIS IS A HUGE INJUSTICE. I HAVE BEEN QUOTED $4500.00 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION BY THE DEALER. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A REPUTABLE AAMCO SHOP THAT THE ONLY PLACE THIS CAN BE FIXED IS AT THE DEALER BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE CODES TO MAKE THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE WORK TOGETHER. *TR
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK. STOPPED AT LIGHT. LIGHT CHANGED. I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 10 MPH. TURNED THE CORNER. HAD TO PULL INTO A BUSINESS PARKING LOT WHICH IS WHERE I WAS STUCK UNTIL A TOW TRUCK CAME BECAUSE I COULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC WHO REPAIRED THE TRANSMISSION THAT I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE HE HAD SEEN WHO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS PARTICULAR TRANSMISSION. ALSO, IF YOU GOOGLE 2007 ACADIA TRANSMISSION, YOU WILL SEE SEVERAL, SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
SEAT BELT SENSOR WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AT START-UP. GOES OFF AND ON WHEN MOVING. THE PATTERNS ARE UNPREDICTABLE. SOMETIMES IT CONSISTENTLY TURNS ON AND OFF. OTHER TIMES IT MAY NOT DISPLAY AT ALL. I DID DISCOVER A RECALL RELATED TO THIS MODEL - RECALL ID # 47176, EFFECTIVE FEB 21, 2007. THE LOCAL DEALER HOWEVER REPORTED MY MODEL IS NOT COVERED. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WILL TURN OFF & ON - SENSOR IN SEAT WILL NOT RECOGNIZE WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN IT OR IF THEY SHIFT THEIR WEIGHT OR MOVE IN ANY WAY IT WILL TURN THE AIRBAG OFF. *TR
PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL THE VEHICLE REVVED UP AND THE GEARS SLAMMED INTO GEAR, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SEEMS TO HAVE NO FIRST GEAR AS OF NOW. SEEMS IT MAY BE THE WAVE PLATE WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
WAS PASSING A SLOWER MOVING VEHICLE WHEN TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING SEVERELY. PULLED INTO PARKING LOT AND THEN VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE AT FIRST. A COUPLE OF THE GEARS SEEMED TO SLIP IN DRIVE AND REVERSE HAD A SHUTTER. TOOK IT TO A GM DEALER AND THEY SAID ITS A WAVE PLATE IN THE TRANSMISSION THAT IS MESSED UP. *TR
GOING DOWN HIGHWAY VEHICLE ACTED LIKE IT SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR ..ABOUT GOT RUN OVER BY TRANSFER TRUCK BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO SIDE OF ROAD ...TOOK TO SHOP SAID TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACED ..APPARENTLY LIKE 100S OF THEM DO ON THE ACADIA. *TR
WHEN BEGINNING TO DRIVE OUR VEHICLE FROM CHURCH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT DOWNSHIFT, AND SPEED WOULD NOT GET ABOVE 30 MPH. WHEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING DAY, WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 50K AND SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE, AND IT IS A TRANSMISSION SAFETY ISSUE. HAD WE BEEN ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AND THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED, A MAJOR ACCIDENT COULD HAVE TAKEN PLACE. OTHER SITES HAVE LISTED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME TRANSMISSION PROBLEM OCCURRING IN VARIOUS ACADIA'S AS WELL. A RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN ISSUED AND GM SHOULD PAY FOR THE FULL REPAIR AS IT IS OVER $4,000. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROX 40 MPH IN TOWN, THE VEHICLE FELT LIKE IT BOGGED DOWN, ODOMETER STILL SHOWED 40MPH BUT I WAS NOT GOING ANYWHERE, CAR BEHIND ME SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES, CAR BEHIND HIM SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES, I WAS HONKED AT ALL THE WHILE I AM PUSHING ON THE ACCELERATOR, AFTER 10 OR 12 SECONDS IT WENT FORWARD WITH THE RPM'S GOING VERY HIGH AND MPH WENT TO 50 AND BACK TO 40 IMMEDIATELY AND I WENT FORWARD. IT SCARES ME TO DRIVE THIS CAR AND FROM WHAT I HAVE READ JUST TODAY, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THE PROBLEM. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOMEONE IS REALLY HURT. *TR
TRANSMISSION HAS FULL FAILURE, DEALERS SAID THAT WAVE PLATE WENT OUT DESTROYING ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. $4300 REPAIR AT GMC DEALERSHIP. *TR
MY WIFE AND I WERE ON HWY 78 IN LOGANVILLE GA WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T SHIFT CAUSING US TO VEER OFF THE ROAD. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS IN THE OTHER LANE. WHEN I GOT TO MY DEALERSHIP I ASKED THE SERVICE WRITER IF THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE ACADIA AND HE SAID VERY CANDIDLY YES. HE FURTHER SAID AS THE MILEAGE GETS HIGHER ON THESE MODELS HE EXPECTS NUMEROUS BREAKDOWNS. MY WIFE IS DISABLED AND THIS IS HER CAR. WHAT IF I HADN'T BEEN DRIVING. IT'S GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE GETTING KILLED BEFORE GM ADMITS THESE TRANSMISSIONS HAVE DEFECTIVE PARTS. IT'S NOT A MATTER OF IF THEY WILL BREAK BUT WHEN. *TR
BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN 2010 WITH 89000 MILES IN 2013 TIMING CHAINS WENT OUT TOOK TO GMC DEALER AND EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS A RECALL ABOUT THE TIMING CHAINS CARDINAL IN HAZARD KY WOULD NOT FIX THIS RECALL BECAUSE THEY SAID IF THE VEHICLE HAD OVER 120000 MILES THE RECALL WAS EXPIRED. .SO TIMING CHAINS GO OUT AND I READ FROM THIS SITE THE RECALLS NEVER EXPIRE ?? NO THE VEHICLE HAS MAJOR PROBLEMS
MY 2007 ACADIA, JUST A FEW MONTHS OUTSIDE ITS 5 YR POWER TRAIN WARRANTY, EXPERIENCED A TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT SUDDENLY STARTED OVER-REVVING AND WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO CERTAIN GEARS. RESEARCHING THIS ON THE INTERNET SHOWS MANY MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE GMC ACADIA. THIS APPEARS TO BE CALLED THE "WAVE-PLATE" FAILURE. UNFORTUNATELY, MOST PEOPLE APPARENTLY HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS BETWEEN 50-70K MILEAGE, WHICH IS EXACTLY WHERE I AM. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND GMC INSTITUTE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE THIS APPEARS TO BE HIGHLY COMMON, AND A SAFETY RISK AT HIGH SPEEDS. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION ON MY ACADIA HAS DIED. MY WIFE WENT TO PICKUP OUR SON FROM A FRIEND'S HOUSE. THE CAR DROVE FINE ON THE WAY OVER. WHEN THEY GOT BACK IN THE CAR, TO LEAVE, THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. SHE COULD MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER INTO REVERSE BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T GO. THE ENGINE WOULD JUST REV. SHE TURNED THE CAR OFF TO GO ASK FOR HELP. WHEN SHE STARTED IT AGAIN, IT WOULD GO INTO GEAR BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND IT DIDN'T SOUND RIGHT. WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE THE CAR, IT WOULD SLIP IN AND OUT OF GEAR AND HAD A WHINING SOUND. WHEN READING THE CODES, I FOUND THE FOLLOWING: P0700 POWERTRAIN - TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM, P0752 SHIFT SOLENOID "A" STUCK ON, & P0797 PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID "C" STUCK ON. I HAVEN'T HAD IT CHECKED BY A MECHANIC YET SO I DON'T KNOW THE REAL PROBLEM. THE TOW TRUCK IS TAKING IT TO THE SHOP TOMORROW. I'LL HAVE TO UPDATE ONCE I GET THE DIAGNOSIS. 67K MILES SEEMS A LITTLE PREMATURE TO BE LOSING THE TRANSMISSION. *LN UPDATED 1/10/2014 *JS
IT ALL STARTED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE THE CAR TO 30 MPH FROM A STOPEED SPEED AND RPM'S FLEW UP TO 3,000 AND WOULD NOT GO DOWN TO A NORMAL RANGE WHILE CONTINUED ACCERATION OR COASTING. THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT POPS ON AND PULL OVER TO TURN CAR OFF TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO. TURN CAR BACK ON AND THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS BUT THE LIGHT IS STILL ON. PROBLEM WOULD SHOW UP RANDOMLY WHEN DRIVING BUT THEN WOULD STOP IF CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON ALMOST LIKE A RESET. THEN STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WHEN GOING DOWN THE ROAD WHERE RPM'S WOULD GO FROM 1500 TO 3000 AND WOULD JERK CAR DOWN TO 2500 WHEN FOOT WAS TAKEN OFF THE PEDAL. WOULD RANDOMLY GO BACK A FORTH FROM 1500- 3000 DURING CONSISTENT SPEEDS. EVEN WHILE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS IT WAS NEVER AN "EVERY TIME WE DROVE" THING. THEN AFTER A FEW WEEKS OF HAVING THIS PROBLEM A MESSAGE POPS UP SAYING "TRANSMISSION HOT IDLE ENGINE" THAT IS WHEN IT REALLY WORRIED ME. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO PAY $199.95 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST STATING THAT THE CLUTCH WAS BAD AND OTHER INTERNAL FAILURES EXSISTED AND WE NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. TO REBUILD WOULD BE $4900 OR A NEW ONE $6200. WITH ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON HERE REGARDING TRANSMISSIONS ON THE 07 AND 08 ACADIA'S IT SEEMS SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ON GM'S PART. THIS IS NOT A CHEAP FIX AND IS FRUSTRATING TO SEE ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE DEALING WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. THANKFULLY WE WEREN'T STRANDED ANYWHERE WITH OUR 2 SMALL CHILDREN. SAFETY SHOULD BE A TOP PRIORITY FOR GM.
DRIVING ALONG AT APPROX. 25MPH AND TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY LOST POWER. THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND ON RANDOMLY TO APPLY POWER TO THE TRANSMISSION FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES TO DRIVE IT BACK HOME. THANK GOD I HAD JUST LEFT HOME! NEVER, EVER RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM GMC NOR THE DEALER REGARDING POWER TRAIN PROBLEMS. THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING SINCE THEN (NOW GOING ON APPROX 8 MOS. BECAUSE I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO AFFORD APPROX. $3,500 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE SADDEST PART ... I DON'T EVEN HAVE A NOTIFICATION AS TO WHERE TO TAKE IT TO GET REPAIRED. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN I HAD LOSS OF FORWARD MOMENTUM AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE WAVE PLATE IN THE TRANSMISSION BROKE LEAVING ME AT FREEWAY SPEEDS WITH NO WAY TO ACCELERATE. THIS SOUNDS LIKE A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE STEERING LOCK UP . MY WIFE ALMOST GOT INTO A ACCIDENT THIS HAPPEN TWICE IT ALSO HAPPEN TO ME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY COULD NOT PIN POINT THE PROBLEM THEY GAVE ME A PAPER ABOUT INTERMITTENT STIFF STEERING I TOLD THEM THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WE JUST BOUGHT THE TRUCK A YEAR AGO FOR 20.000 DOLLARS
WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN...I HAD NO DRIVING POWER. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE, PUT MY CAR IN PARK, STARTED IT AGAIN, WENT ABOUT 30FT AND IT SHUT DOWN AGAIN. IT WAS TOWED TO A GMC DEALER AND RECEIVED A PHONE CALL THAT I WOULD NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING BECAUSE I HAVE READ THAT MANY GMC ACADIA'S TRANSMISSIONS HAVE GONE OUT AND THEY ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THESE. THE SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR 100,000 MILE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY! I HAVE READ THAT THE 2007 AND 2008 MODELS HAVE THE DEFECTS AND THEY FIXED THE DEFECTS IN 2009. *TR
WE WERE HEADING HOME FROM FT. DAVIS AND WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE THE ENGINE WOULD JUST REV AND IT DIDN'T SEEM LIKE THE GEARS WERE SHIFTING. WE WERE GOING AT LEAST 60 MPH AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO THE SPEED LIMIT. I HAD CONTACTED ONSTAR WHILE WE WERE DRIVING AND THE DIAGNOSTICS CONFIRMED THAT IS WAS THE TRANSMISSION/POWER TRAIN. WE EVENTUALLY ENDED UP IN PECOS, TX AT A GMC DEALERSHIP, WHO TOLD ME, AND ONSTAR, THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THEY WERE ALREADY CLOSING FOR THE DAY. WE GOT THERE BEFORE NOON AND THEY STILL DIDN'T WANT TO RUN TESTS OR ANYTHING, BUT THEY DID SAY I COULD LEAVE MY VEHICLE AND THEY COULD WORK ON IT COME MONDAY. WE HAD PUT TRANSMISSION FLUID IN TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP, BUT ONCE WE STARTED THE CAR WE NOTICED THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT REVERSE. NEEDLESS TO SAY MY TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REBUILT...WE WERE ABLE TO GET MY CAR BACK HOME AND TWO REPAIR SHOPS BOTH CONFIRMED THAT. THE SECOND GUY EVEN SAID THAT HE'S HAD TO REBUILD/REPLACE AT LEAST 4 TRANSMISSIONS AND I HAD MISSED THE RECALL BY ONE YEAR. FUNNY THING IS I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER BEING NOTIFIED OF ANY TRANSMISSION RECALL, BUT I HAVE RECEIVED OTHERS. I HAVEN'T EVEN FOUND ANY ONLINE. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS AN ONGOING AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP! *TR
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35MP AND I TRIED TO ACCELERATE BUT COULDN'T, IT WAS IF MY GEARS WERE STUCK AND I WAS DRIVING AN AUTOMATIC! THE CAR WAS REVVING LIKE CRAZY AND DRIVING VERY FUNNY AND ALL I COULD DO WAS SLOW DOWN AND THERE WERE CARS BEHIND ME HONKING AND TAILING ME! THERE WAS NO SIDE OF THE ROAD TO PULL OFF TO SO I PRAYED AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO A GAS STATION PARKING LOT AND CALLED MY HUSBAND. HE CAME TO MY RESCUE AND WE CALLED CHEVY DEALERSHIP FOR HELP. THE REVERSE WENT OUT IN THE ACADIA AND MY HUSBAND HAD TO PUSH IT IN REVERSE SO WE COULD LIMP IT DOWN TO THE DEALERSHIP (DRIVING UNDER 30MP) THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. WE DID PURCHASE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT THAT HAS SINCE EXPIRED SO WE HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. WE KEEP UP ON MAINTAINING THE VEHICLE SO WE WERE SHOCKED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WHEN I WAS DRIVING, THERE WAS NO WARNING AT ALL! I WAS SCARED THAT MY GIRLS AND I WOULD BE HURT! WE WERE QUOTED BETWEEN $3,500 OR $4,800 FOR EITHER REBUILDING OR REPLACING TRANSMISSION. MANY REVIEWS SAY THAT EVEN THOUGH OTHERS HAVE PAID TO RE-DO THEIR TRANSMISSIONS ON GMC ACADIA THAT IT EVENTUALLY HAPPENS AGAIN. WE CAN'T AFFORD TO GET RID OF ACADIA (MANY PAYMENTS STILL) BUT I FEEL UNSAFE KEEPING IT. OTHERS SHOULD BE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM IN CASE IT HAPPENS TO THEM. WHILE MY WIFE AND I WERE ON OUR WAY TO COURT TO FINALIZE THE ADOPTION OF A BABY GIRL THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2007 GMC ACADIA WENT OUT WITH NO WARNING. WE WERE DRIVING DOWN A 2 LANE ROAD GOING OVER A BRIDGE WHEN IT WENT OUT. WE NOW HAVE IT IN THE SHOP WAITING TO SEE HOW MUCH IT IS GOING TO COST TO REPAIR. I WAS LOOKING ON HERE TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS ON THE TRANSMISSION SINCE IT WENT OUT WITHOUT WARNING TO FIND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR MODEL OF THE ACADIA. I CANT FIGURE OUT WHY GM WILL NOT COMPENSATE ALL OR PART OF THE COST SINCE THIS IS AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE YEAR MODEL. WHILE ON A VACATION TRIP WITH THE FAMILY, MY 2007 GMC ACADIA STARTED TO HESITATE AND BUCK WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION AND PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT, WHEN THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING WITH NO FORWARD OR REVERSE GEARS. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A GMC DEALER AND HAVE A BROKEN 3/5/REVERSE (35R) WAVEPLATE REPLACED IN THE TRANSMISSION. THIS SUDDEN UNANNOUNCED LOSS OF POWER TO THE WHEELS, COULD BE A POTENTIAL CATASTROPHIC EVENT FOR THE CAR PASSENGERS AND OTHER VEHICLES, TRUCKS AND BUSES, IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN ON A HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT 65 MPH, AS THERE MAY BE NO WAY AVOID GETTING IN AN CHAIN REACTION ACCIDENT WITH THE FOLLOWING TRAFFIC MOVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS COULD BE ESPECIALLY HAZARDOUS IN HIGH VOLUME RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, AT NIGHT OR UNDER WEATHER IMPAIRED CONDITIONS (I.E, FOG, RAIN OR SNOW). AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH, I WAS MADE AWARE THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND GM IS QUITE KNOWLEDGEABLE OF THIS WAVEPLATE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, IN ALL MODELS WITH THE SAME DRIVETRAIN PLATFORM, BUT HAVE DONE LITTLE TO STEP UP AND REMEDY THE PROBLEM. IF YOU ARE OUT OF WARRANTY (5 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES) YOU ARE GOING TO BE OUT SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIRS, SUFFER A GREAT DEAL OF INCONVENIENCE AND ARE PUTTING YOURSELF AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD AT GREAT RISK. I HOPE THIS WILL HELP BRING THIS ISSUE TO HEAD, AS GM NEEDS TO RECALL AND REPAIR THIS WAVEPLATE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, AS IT PRESENT A SERIOUS EXPOSURE AND LIABILITY TO INJURE AND HARM THE TRAVELING PUBLIC. *TR
WE PURCHASED THIS ACADIA USED IN APRIL 2010 WITH ABOUT 40,000 MILES. IN EARLY JULY 2012 THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. THIS HAS BEEN REPAIRED UNDER OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY AS OF JULY 15, 2012. ON AUGUST 1, 2013, OUR TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AGAIN. DURING THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE, WE HAVE HAD THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS OPERATING ERRATICALLY AND THE RADIO WILL NOT ALWAYS SHUT OFF WHEN THE ENGINE HAS BEEN STOPPED AND DRIVER'S DOOR OPENED & CLOSED (POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS). WE'VE ASKED OUR GMC DEALERSHIP TO ADDRESS THE ELECTRIC, BUT EACH TIME THEY SAY NOTHING SHOWS ANY ERRORS ON THEIR COMPUTER TESTS. WITH THE RECENT ISSUE IN A LITTLE OVER A YEAR ON THE TRANSMISSION (AGAIN!) WE HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS SITES FROM OTHER 2007 ACADIA OWNERS STATING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND THAT IT IS REPETITIVE. IF THIS HAS BEEN A WIDESPREAD AND KNOWN PROBLEM, THIS WAS NOT SHARED BY OUR DEALERSHIP. GIVEN OUR VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 100K MILES AND WILL LIKELY HAVE A 3RD TRANSMISSION IN ITS 6 YEAR AGE, THIS IS NOT A VEHICLE I FEEL SAFE HAVING MY WIFE AND 3 YOUNG CHILDREN CONTINUE TO RIDE IN. UNFORTUNATELY, OUR OPTIONS ARE VERY LIMITED FINANCIALLY TO FIND A VEHICLE ALLOWING FOR THE AMOUNT OF SPACE NEEDED FOR 2 CAR SEATS IN ADDITION TO OUR 9 YEAR OLD BOOSTER SEAT (NORMALLY CANNOT SEAT THEM IN ONE ROW SIDE BY SIDE BY SIDE). TRANSMISSION FAILURE...FIRST NOTICED CAR HESITATED ACCELERATING WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS OR GETTING ON INTERSTATE AND RPMS WOULD JUMP UP TO 4-5K THEN HESITATION IN ACCELERATING BEFORE JUMPING INTO FEAR...THEN LATER INCREASED RPMS AT30MPH AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENED MANY TIMES BUT WOULD GO DAYS/WEEKS IN BETWEEN INCIDENTS. AFTER TAKING TO SHOP AND RESEARCHING THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL...WAVE PLATE FAILURE IN TCM ( POOR QUALITY PART) THIS IS SO DANGEROUS....AFTER FIRST INCIDENT I BECAME MORE AWARE OF HOW THE CAR WOULD BEHAVE AND WAS BETTER PREPARED WHEN IT DECIDED TO JUMP INTO A HIGHER GEAR OR HESITATE. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WHEN SHE FELT A JERK IN THE VEHICLE. SHE WAS APPROACHING A STOPLIGHT THAT HAD TURNED RED AND THEREFORE WAS APPLYING THE BRAKE. WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. THE HIGHWAY IS VERY BUSY AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT AND SHE WAS IN DANGER OF BEING STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. SHE WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE IN GEAR AND TURN ONTO A SIDE ROAD AND PHONE FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN HOME AFTER SITTING FOR A SHORT TIME, HOWEVER I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OUT OF MY GARAGE AND COULD NOT GET IN GEAR. *TR

PROBLEM IS DIAGNOSED AND FOUND TO BE "TRANSMISSION SHIFT SOLENOID A". DEAL STATED THAT THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY SUCH PROBLEMS WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. WE WERE 50 MILES FROM HOME ON A VACATION WITH OUR TWIN 2 YEAR OLDS AND 7 YEAR OLD WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. FIRST IT SAID "TRANSMISSION HOT, LEAVE ENGINE ON IDLE". SO WE SAT FOR 10 MINUTES. IT WENT AWAY, THOUGHT WE WERE OK, KEPT DRIVING FOR ABOUT ANOTHER 15 MINUTES AND COMPLETE FAILURE. WE WERE STRANDED FOR 3 HOURS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE (DETOURED ROAD TOOK US BACK ROADS). COULDN'T GET A TOW. HUNGRY, HOT AND THIRSTY LITTLE BOYS. COPS GOT CALLED ON US BECAUSE WE ENDED UP BEING ON SOMEONE'S PROPERTY WE SHOULDN'T BE. TOTAL MESS. EMBRACED, HOT, IRRITATED AND SO ANGRY. $15,000 OWED ON A VEHICLE THAT WE HAVE TO REPLACE A $3600 TRANSMISSION! SERIOUSLY?!?! WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I WAS BY MYSELF AND MY HUSBAND WASN'T WITH ME. WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE SHIFTS VERY HARD FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. SOMETIMES THERE IS A LOUD CRUNCHING SOUND AND OCCASIONALLY IT WILL SHUDDER WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE HESITATES ALL THE TIME WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, AND WILL NOT DOWNSHIFT WHEN GOING UP HILLS. ERRATICALLY CHANGES GEARS EVEN WHILE TRAVELING AT THE SAME RATE OF SPEED, LIKE IT IS NOT SURE WHAT GEAR TO BE IN. THE CHECK-ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND IT WILL NOT CHANGE OUT OF 1ST GEAR, AND IT WILL STAY THIS WAY UNTIL THE VEHICLE IT TURNED OFF AND LEFT ALONE FOR A FEW MINUTES. THEN THE LIGHT WILL GO AWAY AFTER IT IS DRIVEN ABOUT 50 MILES. I HAVE HAD THE SHIFT SOLENOID REPLACED ($450 EXPENSE) WHICH IS THAT THE CODE SAID WAS WRONG, AND THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM OR HELP ANYTHING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH VEHICLE WAS SHIFTING VERY HARD. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO HAVE ISSUE SHIFTING. AT ANOTHER TIME WAS DRIVING VEHICLE AND STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. UPON LIGHT TURNING GREEN PUSHED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO, TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. VEHICLE HAS 83,000 MILES AND NOW THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACE. SEEMS TO BE A FREQUENT ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE MODEL. GM SHOULD RECALL THIS TRANSMISSION!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STOPPED SHIFTING GEARS AND BEGAN TO JERK AND LUNGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AND INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
STARTED THE VEHICLE THIS MORNING WITH REMOTE START, GOT IN AND PUSHED THE KEY FORWARD. AS I LEFT THE APARTMENT COMPLEX ON MY WAY TO THE POST OFFICE, I NOTICED MY ACADIA STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS SHIFTING PAST 20MPH. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP AND WHEN THEY DRAINED THE FLUID, THE FLUID WAS BURNT REQUIRING THE TRANSMISSION TO BE OPENED UP. I HAVE STILL NOT HAD THE TRANSMISSION MANIPULATED PAST THE FLUID DRAINAGE. I EVEN TOOK VIDEO OF THE SPEEDOMETER AND RPM GAUGE WHILE IT WAS HAVING TROUBLE SHIFTING. *TR
DRIVING HOME FROM THE BEACH WITH MY FRIEND, NO SERVICE LIGHTS WERE ON. WHILE DRIVING ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY MY CAR WAS BECOMING SLUGGISH ON THE PICKUP WHILE CHANGING LANES. A COUPLE EXITS DOWN THE ROAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH A MESSAGE - "TRANSMISSION HOT, IDLE ENGINE". I SAFELY PULLED THE CAR OVER 2 EXITS AWAY INTO THE RESTSTOP AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. I WAITED APPROXIMATELY 20-25 MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE CAR, ALL SERVICE LIGHTS WERE NOW GONE. ME AND MY FRIEND DECIDED TO NOW CAUTIOUSLY DRIVE THE CAR HOME SINCE ALL THE SERVICE WARNINGS HAD GONE AWAY. AS WE BEGAN TO PULL OUT OF THE RESTSTOP THE VEHICLE COULD NOT ACCELERATE I THEN WAS STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE EXPRESS LANE ON THE PARKWAY. SINCE THIS INCIDENT I HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED AND IT TURNS OUT MY ENTIRE TRANSMISSION IS BROKEN, NOT ONE SALVAGEABLE PART TO REBUILD MY OWN TRANSMISSION. I FIND THIS EXTREMELY RIDICULOUS THAT A CAR WITH 63,000 MILES THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE OF GOOD QUALITY IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO FOUND A TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WEBSITE/BLOG RANTING ABOUT THEIR TRANSMISSIONS PROBLEMS IN 2007-2008 GMC ACADIA VEHICLES ALL WITH 60,000-72,000 MILES. CLEARLY THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED, THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND UNACCEPTABLE. A RECALL SHOULD BE ESTABLISHED FOR THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO IMMEDIATELY. *TR
WHILE MAKING A TURN DURING A RAIN STORM THE ENGINE BELT BEGAN TO SQUEAL AND I SUBSEQUENTLY LOST POWER STEERING AND THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT UNTIL THE POWER STEERING CAME BACK. I'VE HAD THIS HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES DURING RAIN EVENTS SINCE I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE. IT APPEARS TO OCCUR WHEN EXCESSIVE WATER GETS ONTO THE DRIVE BELT CONTROLLING THE ENGINE AND POWER STEERING UNIT. *TR
CAR SHUT DOWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. AFTER AWHILE IT STARTED BACK UP BUT IT WOULD ONLY GO ON FIRST GEAR SO I COULD GO MORE THAN 20MPH. I'M HAVING CHRONIC TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS I'VE SPENT &2000. SO FAR ON THE TRANSMISSION. THE GMC DEALER HAS BEEN CONSTANTLY TELLING ME I'M HAVING MULTIPLE ISSUES REGARDING THE TOTAL WAVE PLATE OF THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH IS EFFECTING OTHER AREAS OF THE CARE. NOW I'M BEING TOLD THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS A LEMON-MAKE. THAT IT WAS BUILT FAULTY & GMC KNOWS IT. THEY HAVE HAD THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS AND REFUSE TO RECALL THIS TRANSMISSION. THIS IS TOTALLY UNFAIR. I STILL OWE 18,000 ON THIS TRUCK. I'M PAYING TWO MORTGAGES AND I'M WORRIED ABOUT HOW I WILL MAKE IT TO WORK THE NEXT DAY. VEHICLE IS HARD SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. HAD SERVICED WITH NEW TRANSMISSION FLUID ON 7/2/13. ON 7/5/13 VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER SHIFT AT ALL WHILE TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY ON OUR WAY TO FAMILY VACATION TO HILTON HEAD SC. IT WAS TOWED TO PARKS CHEVROLET IN CHARLOTTE, NC WHERE TRANSMISSION WAS DISASSEMBLED WITH PARTS REPLACED AND REBUILT. UPON DEPARTURE OF PICKUP VEHICLE IS STILL SHIFTING HARD FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR (AROUND 20-25MPH) AND WE HOPE TO MAKE BACK HOME TO OHIO SAFELY. I'VE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE IS COMMON IN GMC ACADIAS. THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING WHEN I MERGED ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THE ENGINE RPM WOULD SPIKE TO 4,000 OR 5,000 EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS NOT ACCELERATING. I DROVE THE CAR RIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH WAS ONLY A MILE AWAY. THE DEALERSHIP LATER CALLED BACK AND STATED THAT I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THIS IS FOR A CAR WITH ONLY 55,000 MILES ON IT! THESE CARS SEEM TO HAVE A COMMON PREMATURE FAILURE WITH A WAVE PLATE THAT IS INTERNAL TO THE TRANSMISSION. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO PURCHASE A NEW TRANSMISSION.
AS I WAS TAKING A FAMILY TRIP, I WAS TRAVELING THROUGH SOME STEEPER GRADES WHEN THE VEHICLE RPMS WERE REGISTERING VERY HIGH AND WOULD NOT SHIFT TO LOWER GEARS EVEN WHEN MY TRAVEL SPEED SLOWED DOWN. ON MY DISPLAY A WARNING CAME ON SAYING TO IDLE THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION HOT' I THEN PULLED OVER IN A VERY BUSY ROAD AND LET THE VEHICLE IDLE FOR 10 MIN IT THEN SHUT OFF BUT HAD VERY WEIRD DRIVING CHARACTERISTIC THE REST OF THE WAY. THIS INCLUDED WHEN SHIFTING FROM SECOND GEAR TO THIRD IT FELT LIKE THE CLUTCH WOULD POP AND JERK THE VEHICLE WHEN IT DID SHIFT. THANKFULLY AS WE GOT CLOSER TO A TOWN THE VEHICLE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WE IMMEDIATELY CONTACT ONSTAR AND THEY GAVE US THE CODES ALL RELATING TO THE VEHICLE WAVE PLATE FAILURE. I THEN HAD TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER OUT IN THE TOWN WE WERE VISITING AT THE TIME WHICH WAS A MAJOR HEADACHE. THIS WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING CONSIDERING THE VEHICLE BARLEY HAD OVER 50,000 MILES AND GMC IS SUPPOSED TO BE A UPGRADE FOR GM. SHAME ON THEM FOR NOT RECALLING ALL 2007-2009 MODELS TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE. NEEDLESS TO SAY GM DID OFFER TO HELP WITH REPAIR COST ONLY CAUSE THEY KNOW IT'S A KNOW ISSUE WHICH I APPRECIATE BUT THE FACT IS WITH THAT LOW OF MILES ON THE VEHICLE THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE LAMP ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,749. PDATED 09/23/13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 07/2/2013. AFTER ADDING A HALF QUART OF TRANSMISSION FLUID THE VEHICLE RAN NORMAL UNTIL 08/12/2013. *JS
WENT TO BACK OUT OF MY GARAGE AND THE CAR WOULDN'T GO. HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. WE HAD NOT BEEN EXPERIENCING ANY ISSUES WITH THE CAR REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION IN THE DAYS BEFORE IT QUIT WORKING. OTHER THAN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON FOR A FEW MIN AND THEN WENT OFF ABOUT 5 MIN LATER ABOUT 2 DAYS BEFORE IT QUIT WORKING. I LOVE THIS CAR BUT DISAPPOINTED THAT OUR TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 81,246 MILES.
THE VEHICLE FIRST STARTED FINE, HOWEVER, COULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE. ONCE STARTING AND TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF THREE TIMES, IT FINALLY SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. THEN ON THE HIGHWAY GOING TO DROP OFF MY KIDS AT SCHOOL, THE VEHICLE THEN WOULD NOT SHIFT HIGHER THEN SECOND GEAR. EACH TIME I STEPPED ONTO THE GAS PEDAL, THE RPM'S WOULD GO UP, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO ANY FASTER THEN ABOUT 30 MPH. OF COURSE, THIS SITUATION IS HIGHTLY UNSAFE, ESPECIALLY WITH SMALL CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. AT ONE POINT WHEN I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE, AND EVERYONE SAID IT WAS FIXED, I DROVE 3.5 HOURS TO PICK UP MY STEP-DAUGHTER AND WAS LEFT STRANDED THERE, DUE TO THE SAME ISSUE IT WENT IN FOR THE FIRST THREE TIMES. IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT 9MOSTLY IN) THE SHOP FOR OVER THREE AND A HALF MONTHS, WITH EACH REPLACEMENT PART FOR THE TRANSMISSION, IT GOES ON A TEST DRIVE AND THE SAME THING KEEPS HAPPENING. *TR
THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER ON THE INTERSTATE. IT LOCKED DOWN INTO "LIMP HOME" MODE. WE HAD CRAWL ALONG THE BERM AT 30 MPH. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED BY GM AS TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO FAILING OF THE WAVE PLATE. THIS WAVE PLATE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM TO GM BUT AS OF NOW NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. I HAVE READ ONLINE BLOGS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IT IS A FREQUENT AND UNSAFE FAILURE OF THIS DRIVE-TRAIN. OUR CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY BY YEARS BUT ONLY HAS 84K MILES ON IT. GM HAS OFFERED US A 50/50 SPLIT ON THE REPAIR WHICH THEY WOULD NEVER DO IF THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF THIS ISSUE. I THINK IT SHOULD BE THEIR FULL RESPONSIBILITY. PLEASE INVESTIGATE, THANK YOU. *TR
