THE ABOVE ODI ID NUMBERS SIGNIFY EXISTING COMPLAINTS IDENTIFYING WATER LEAKS AND RESULTING DAMAGE IN 07 & 08 GMC ACADIAS. GM INSTITUTED RECALL CAMPAIGN #08207: CUSTOMER SATISFACTION - SUNROOF WATER LEAK-INSTALL DRAIN TUBE EXTENSIONS DATED: AUG 27, 2008. CAMPAIGN WAS PRECEDED BY NUMEROUS TSBS LINKED TO THE SAME TYPE OF WATER LEAK. *** PURCHASED CERTIFIED VEHICLE ON 3/4/09. TSB #08027 PERFORMED PRIOR TO CERTIFICATION AND SALE. SERVICE MANAGER STATED WATER WAS PRESENT IN THE REAR DOME LAMPS AND HEADLINER. RETURNED TO DEALER 3/5/09 FOR WATER IN THE PASSENGER FLOOR AREA. TSB # 080857003A WAS PERFORMED. PRIOR TITLE OWNED BY A COMMERCIAL ENTITY AND MOST LIKELY NEVER RESPONDED TO THESE ISSUES. PICKED UP VEHICLE ON 3/6/09. STILL TAKING IN RAIN WATER. TOOK BACK TO DEALER ON 3/9/09. DOOR SEALS REPLACED AND RETURNED ON 3/11/09. HAS NOT RAINED SINCE THIS POSTING BUT CONCERN IS FOR ELECTRICAL INTEGRITY ON VEHICLE AS WATER LEAKAGE WAS CONCENTRATED NEAR MAIN FUSE BLOCK NEAR KICK PANEL AND MAIN WIRING HARNESS UNDER PASSENGER FLOOR AREA. MOLD IS ALSO A CONCERN AS DEALER HAS NOT REPLACED CARPETING OR HEADLINER BUT ONLY CLEANED AFFECTED AREA. VEHICLE IS USED FOR TRANSPORT OF FAMILY OVER LONG DISTANCES AND AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE DURING ON ROAD USE CAN BE CATASTROPHIC. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SIDE AIR BAGS SUDDENLY DEPLOYED AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT IT WOULD TAKE TWO WEEKS TO REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS ON A TRIP AT THE TIME, SO SHE PUSHED THE AIR BAGS BACK IN AND CONTINUED DRIVING THE VEHICLE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HER LOCAL DEALER AND HAD IT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 23,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AND WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL HIM ONCE THE PARTS ARRIVED. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, ONE OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE WIPER ACCORDING TO A RECALL; HOWEVER, IT STILL FAILED TO OPERATE. THE FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN REMEDIED. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 16,319.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A POPPING NOISE WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE SEVERAL TIMES WHERE THE BEARING PLATE AND STEERING COLUMN WERE REPLACED. HOWEVER THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT THEN NOTICED THAT THE SPRING ON THE STRUT WAS STICK UP AND THEY COULD HEAR A SPRING POP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECORD OF SIMILAR FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 22,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000.
IN LIGHT OF THE ALL THE SAFETY RECALLS BY GM FOR IGNITION SWITCH FAILURES, I BELIEVE THAT MY WIFE'S CRASH IN OUR 2008 GMC ACADIA WAS THE DIRECT CAUSE OF THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILING. DRIVING NORTH BOUND ON AZ ROUTE 89 IN THE AREA OF PRESCOTT, AZ CALLED THE GRANITE DELLS, THE CAR PROCEEDED STRAIGHT WHERE THE ROAD TURNS SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT. THE CAT PROCEEDED INTO AND PARTIALLY UP A GRANITE STONE OUT CROPPING ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR THEN WENT AIR BORNE LANDING UP SIDE DOWN ON ITS ROOF IN THE MIDDLE OF ROUTE 89. I BELIEVE THAT THIS ACCIDENT HAPPENED DUE TO IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE WHICH IN TURN SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, POWER STEERING, AND THE ENTIRE AIR BAG SYSTEM WHICH IN THIS ACCIDENT FAIL TO DEPLOY. MY WIFE WAS AIR LIFTED TO NORTHERN ARIZONA MEDICAL CENTER IN FLAGSTAFF, AZ FOR SEVER HEAD INJURE FROM WHICH SHE HAS RECOVERED. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THE IGNITION FAILURES THAT HAVE SHOWN UP ON OTHER GM CARS IS ALSO A PROBLEM FOR THE 2008 GMC ACADIA AND POSSIBLY OTHER LIKE MODELS OF GM VEHICLES. IN MY OPINION IT HAS TO BE IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE THAT SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE, POWER STEERING AND AIR BAG SYSTEM CAUSING THIS ACCIDENT. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE UTILIZED THE CRUISE CONTROL AT 50 MPH. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED FROM 40 MPH TO 50 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. THE CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTION WAS NOT BEING UTILIZED AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND A TEST DRIVE, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
OUR 2008 GMC ACADIA WAS PURCHASED IN OCTOBER 2008. A FEW MONTHS LATER WE TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE BECAUSE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WOULD INTERMITTENTLY GO OFF WHEN AN ADULT WAS IN THE SEAT. THE LIGHT WOULD NEVER COME ON WHEN OUR SON, THEN 100 LBS, SAT IN THE SEAT. BECAUSE OF HIM, WE WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HAD THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE FOUR MORE TIMES OVER THESE PAST TWO YEARS FOR THE SAME REASON. AT ONE POINT, THE DEALERSHIP EVEN HAD ONE OF THEIR EMPLOYEES, 27 YEAR OLD MAN, APPROX. 125 LBS., SIT IN THE SEAT - LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. THEY HAD HIM SIT ON A BOARD, STRAIGHT UP, GET OUT, TURN THE CAR OFF THEN ON, GET BACK IN ETC. (IT WAS RIDICULOUS) . .LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD "CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM," "DON'T HAVE PEOPLE WHO DON'T SET IT OFF SIT IN THE SEAT." THE LIGHT WILL BE ON FOR SOME PEOPLE AND THEN SHUT OFF WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. YOU CAN BOUNCE UP AND DOWN AND SHIFT AROUND, BUT THE LIGHT DOES NOT COME BACK ON. OUR SON, TODAY 112 LBS, 5'7", STILL NEVER TURNS THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG ON AND WE ARE STILL TOLD "THERE IS NO PROBLEM." WE HAVE SPOKE TO GMC HEADQUARTERS AND THEY WILL NOT HELP BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NO PROBLEM. WE ASKED WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF WE TOOK THE CAR TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AT THIS POINT AND THEY FOUND A PROBLEM. HEADQUARTERS SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF REPAIR BECAUSE IT COULD BE A NEW PROBLEM. WE INTEND TO TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, BUT WONDER WHY WE HAVE TO. WE HAVE OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR AS WELL, BUT NOT AS SERIOUS AS THIS ONE. WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN OUR SUPPOSED 5 STAR SAFETY RATING CAR. WE NO LONGER WANT THIS CAR AND WILL NEVER BUY GMC AGAIN. *TR
TO STATE RECOGNITION OF THE FACTS: FWD WHEEL-SPIN WAS REPORTED TO ACHIEVE FORWARD VEHICLE MOVEMENT WITH THE CURRENT FWD SYSTEM ON WET SURFACES OF THIS VEHICLE. THE DRIVERS CORRECTION FACTORS TO REGAIN TRACTION INCLUDES, DE-THROTTLE (BACK PEDDLE THE ENGINE) TO LOWER THE TORQUE LEVEL AND THEREBY HOPEFULLY REGAIN TRACTION WITH THE ROADBED WHEN THE ROAD CONDITIONS EXIST AS REPORTED. REPORTED DETAILS TO GM AND DRIVING EXPERIENCES DRIVING ISSUES INCLUDE: 1.CANA TRACTION CONTROL DEVICE BE ADDED TO RETARD THE THROTTLE AND RPM TO PREVENT WHEEL-SPIN? 2.ARE THE CORRECT TIRES / TIRE COMPOUNDS BEING USED? 3.WILL WHEEL-SPIN ENDANGER THE LIFELINE AND LONGEVITY OF THIS TRANSMISSION OR MOTOR? 4.IS DAMAGE IS BEING INTRODUCED INTO THE MECHANICAL PARTS OF THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION, WHAT CAN WE EXPECT? 5.THE CURRENT IMPLEMENTATIONS REQUIRE THE DRIVER TO FUNCTIONALITY DRIVE REGAINING CONTROL OF THE FRONT TIRES, WHICH IS CONSIDERED ABNORMAL THEREFORE BECOMING A HAZARD TO THE NORMAL TRAFFIC FLOW AS SHOW. 6.THE CURRENT IMPLEMENTATIONS REQUIRE THE DRIVER TO BACK-PEDAL THE THROTTLE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION; THE OBSERVED CONDITIONS OCCUR OVER 2000 RPM OF ACCELERATION, NEXT THE MOTOR / FWD SYSTEMS THEN OVER-SPIN THE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION UP TO 3500 RPM BEFORE THE DRIVER CAN BACK-PEDAL THE THROTTLE, REGAIN CONTROL, AND RESUME ACCELERATION WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REMAIN SAFE IN NORMAL TRAFFIC FLOW.. TO SUMMARIZE GM (KAREN) HAS REPORTED IN A VERBAL PHONE CONVERSATION WITH ME, HELD ON 12/10/08 THAT A STABILOCK TRANSMISSION ON A 2008 ACADIA IS WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS TO HAVE FWD TIRE-SPIN AND OR TRACTION LOSS WHEN ACCELERATION EXCEEDS 2000 RPM ON WET ROADS AND SURFACES AND THE VEHICLE HANDLING CONDITIONS ARE NORMAL. KAREN ALSO STATES SHE HAS NO ISSUES WITH THE REPORTED PROBLEMS AS DESCRIBED, AND MAYBE, I (THE DRIVER LACKS EXPERIENCE DRIVING A FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE). *TR
I WAS TAKING MY DAUGHTER TO FLORIDA FOR CHEER LEADING COMPETITION; I WAS JUST OUTSIDE OF ILLINOIS WHEN THE CHECK AIRBAG LIGHT AND MESSAGE SCREEN CAME ON THANKFULLY THE LIGHT WENT OFF BUT CAME BACK ON ON OUR WAY BACK TO CHICAGO AND KEPT COMING ON AND OFF. TOOK IT TO DEALER BUT THEY ONLY SAID THAT THE HARNESS WAS TIGHT THEY ONLY WIGGLED IT AND LIGHT WENT OFF BUT CAME BACK A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER. THEN THE POWER STEERING STARTED MAKING NOISE DEALER SAID THEY DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING AND DIDN'T DO ANYTHING AND NOISE IS GETTING LOUDER. THEN SUSPENSION STARED IT MAKING NOISE. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND HAD TIE RODS REPLACED. THEN THE SERVICE AIRBAG PROBLEM CAME BACK AND THIS TIME DIDN'T GO AWAY. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THE HARNESS WAS TO TIGHT AND THEY REROUTED IT SO IT WASN'T TIGHT ANYMORE. WORKED FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND ITS ON AGAIN BUT I DIDN'T TAKE IT BACK AND NOW IS PAST ITS WARRANTY.THEN HEAD LAMP WENT OUT. HAD TO PAY DEALER $180 (RIP OFF) NEXT THE OTHER HEAD LIGHT WENT OUT. MY NEPHEW REPLACED IT IN LESS THAN 10 MIN. NOW THERE IS A RECALL FOR THAT HEAD LIGHT PROBLEM. THEN WIPERS ARM CAME LOOSE FROM MOTOR I HAD MY COUSIN FIX IT FOR ME. NOW I HAVE HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE CAME BACK WITH THE CODE TO REPLACE THE CANISTER PURGE SOLENOID NOW I HAVE THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, IT STARTED TO ACT FUNNY SHIFTING PRETTY HARD SOME TIMES AND THEN A FEW DAYS AGO I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY COMING HOME WHEN I NOTICE THE RPMS AT ABOUT 45000 AND IT WOULDN'T CHANGE GEARS AND THE FUEL GAUGE STARTED GOING NUTS I DON'T KNOW WHY AND HAD TO DRIVE IT HOME ON THE SAME GEAR. TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE AND CAME BACK WITH THE SAME CODE FOR THE SOLENOID PLUS P0700/P0716/P0717 FOR THE TRANSMISSION. NOW MY ACADIA IS JUST SITTING ON MY DRIVEWAY NO MONEY TO FIX IT AND DRIVING MY 15 YEAR OLD TRUCK HOPING GMC DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THIS NIGHTMARE
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS. FIRST THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON WHEN WE WERE GOING ON VACATION I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS FIXED BUT IT KEPT COMING ON AND OFF TOOK IT AGAIN AND SAME THING HAPPENED IT KEPT DOING THAT SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY HAD TO REROUTE THE AIRBAG HARNESS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AGAIN IT ONLY LASTED FOR A FEW WEEKS AND IT CAME BACK ON. BY THAT TIME THE CAR WAS OVER 60,000 MILES AND IT WAS PAST THE EXTENDED WARRANTY SO I'M STUCK WITH THAT PROBLEM. THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPAIRED A FEW MONTHS AGO AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED AGAIN BUT DON'T HAVE MONEY TO FIX IT AND GMC WON'T RECALL THE 2007 AND 2008 ACADIAS KNOWING THAT THE ACADIAS OF THOSE 2 YEARS WERE MADE WITH A FAULTY TRANSMISSION AND A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEM. THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR THE 2009 AND LATER MODELS BUT WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE 2007 AND 2008 MODELS AND A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T HAVE MONEY TO PAY FOR A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT IS GM'S FAULT. MY ACADIA IS SITTING ON MY DRIVEWAY BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE MONEY TO FIX ITAND I'M STUCK USING A 16 YEAR OLD CAR THAT IS MORE RELIABLE THAT OUR NEW CAR. I HAVE HAD THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS SINCE A FEW MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD AND RELIABLE FAMILY VEHICLE. AIR BAGS LIGHT ON AND NEVER GOT FIXED SUSPENSION REPAIRED ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO LIGHTING PROBLEMS A COUPLE OF TIMES AND NOW THERE IS A RECALL FOR THAT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS THE CAR HAS ONLY 70,000 MILES AND IT SHOULD NOT BE HAVING ALL THIS ISSUES PLEASE LOOK IN TO THIS I KNOW THERE IS A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND GM WON'T DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY KNEW THEY HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION'S THE 2007 AND 2008 MODELS THAT'S WHY THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR THE 2009 AND LATER MODELS. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. THANKS. *TR
PURCHASED A 2008 GMC ACADIA SLE ON OCT. 23, 2008. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ON NOV. 20, 2008 BECAUSE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. INFORMED THAT THE CAM SHAFT WAS BAD, AND THAT THE CAM & BOTH HEADERS WOULD NEED REPLACING. VEHICLE HAS JUST SLIGHTLY OVER 2,000 MILES. DISCOVERED THROUGH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, AND INTERNET CHAT FORUMS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. VEHICLE IS STILL AT THE DEALER, REPAIRS NOT COMPLETE YET. IT APPEARS THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ON GOING SINCE THE 2007 MODEL YEAR(FIRST YEAR OF PRODUCTION). WHY HASN'T GM ADDRESSED THIS PROBLEM? IT APPEARS THAT THEY ARE JUST STANDING BY, AND PUTTING THE BURDEN ON THE CONSUMER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR CONTINUES TO ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. ON THE MOST RECENT VISIT TO THE DEALER, THEY ORDERED NEW AIR BAGS IN HOPES THAT THIS WOULD REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS LESS THAN 6,000.
OWN A 2008 GMC ACADIA THAT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 5 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN AUGUST FOR THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. THE LIGHT FIRST CAME ON IN OCT. OF 2008, AFTER DRIVING ONLY 4000 MILES. THE PROBLEM WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED BY GMC SERVICE AS THE LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY. THE FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT IT WAS THE RESULT OF FAULTY WIRING, BUT LIGHT STILL CAME ON AFTER WIRING WAS REPAIRED. AFTER THE SECOND TRIP TO GMC, , THE FRONT SEAT AIR BAG WAS REPLACED ON DRIVER SIDE IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I HAD TO WAIT THREE WEEKS FOR THE PART TO COME IN THOUGH, AS THEY WERE BACK ORDERED. AS SOON AS I DROVE OFF THE LOT WITH THE DRIVER'S SEAT AIR BAG REPLACED, THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THIS WAS THE FOURTH TIME NOW, AND THE VERY SAME DAY! THIS TIME I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG. IT TOO WAS REPLACED IN HOPES OF SOLVING THE PROBLEM. ONE MONTH LATER THE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. I ONCE AGAIN NOTIFIED GMC OF THE ISSUE AS I FEEL THE AIR BAG SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE, AND DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY FAMILY IN THE CAR. RECENTLY I HAVE NOTICED A CLICKING SOUND WHENEVER I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT SEVERAL VEHICLES OF THIS MODEL TYPE ARE SUFFERING FROM FAILED POWER STEERING PUMPS. SOME HAVE FAILED WHILE DRIVING AND HAVE EXTREME DIFFICULTY TURNING. *TR
ENTERED MY FAIRLY NEW 2008 GMC ACADIA THIS MORNING AND WAS GREETED WITH A PUDDLE ON THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THE DOOR JAMS LEAKING TO A POINT WHERE THE ROOF LINER WAS ALSO SOAKED. I AM NOW AFRAID THE WATER MAY COMPROMISE THE AIR BAGS AND SPEAKERS THAT ARE LOCATED NEAR THE LEAK. NOT TO MENTION THE ODOR THAT WILL OCCUR FROM HAVING SOAKED CARPET IN A VEHICLE. I DON'T BELIEVE A VEHICLE WITH 10,000 MILES AND COST ME 36,000 DOLLARS NEW SHOULD EVER LEAK. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND WAS ADVISED TO BRING THEM THE VEHICLE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP, BUT THE INDICATOR WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. AS A RESULT, NO ERROR CODE COULD BE FOUND AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE. WHEN SHE RETURNED TO THE REPAIR SHOP, THE INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE MECHANIC ADJUSTED A COMPONENT AFTER INSPECTING THE INFLATOR MODULE AND SEATS, WHICH BOTH APPEARED TO BE OKAY. HOWEVER, WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE REPAIR SHOP WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY ORDERED THE PARTS FOR THE REPAIR, BUT DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE REPAIR SHOP COULD NOT GUARANTEE MAXIMUM PROTECTION WITH THE SIDE AIR BAGS IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. WHILE WAITING FOR THE PARTS TO BE SHIPPED, THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED WITH A RENTAL VEHICLE FOR ONE DAY. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,304 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000.
WATER LEAKING FROM SUNROOF - LEAKS FROM BOTH AIRBAG AREAS, ABOVE SUNVISORS AND THROUGH SEATBELTS. HAVE SERVICED TWO TIMES AND WILL BE GOING BACK A THIRD TIME THIS WEEK. FIRST OCCURRED 6 DAYS AFTER TAKING CAR OFF LOT, THEN AGAIN 1 MONTH LATER AND NOW 18 DAYS LATER (EACH TIME IT HAS BEEN IN THE RAIN). FIRST TIME, TOOK OUT WINDSHIELD AND REPLACED, THINKING IT WAS LOOSE SEAL. SECOND TIME SAID THE STRIP AROUND THE SUNROOF WAS FLAT AND REPLACED IT. THIS TIME THEY THINK THE FRONT DRAINAGE TUBES ARE NOT WORKING AND ARE BACKING UP INTO THE INSIDE AND LEAKING. THE MECHANIC RODE WITH ME AND COULD FEEL THE WATER PUDDLING UP IN THE SUNROOF. I AM AFRAID THE WATER WILL CREATE MOLD AND MILDEW, AS WELL AS GET INTO THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OF THE VEHICLE. THE WATER POURS OUT OF THE FRONT SIDES AND ONTO THE STEERING WHEEL AS YOU ARE DRIVING. *TR

WE PURCHASED A NEW GMC ACADIA ON 6/16/08. SINCE OUR PURCHASE, WE HAVE EXPERIENCED A DANGEROUS TRANSMISSION ISSUE. AFTER COASTING DOWNHILL, THE VEHICLE FAILS TO DOWNSHIFT WHICH CAUSES A RAPID DECELERATION WHEN TRAVELING UPHILL. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 5 TIMES; ON ONE OCCASION, THE ENGINE STALLED IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE. CONSEQUENCES WERE AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. 3. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN ON AN URGENT BASIS TO THE GMC DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO "PLAY IN THE CAMSHAFT," WHICH SENDS AN ERRONEOUS SIGNAL TO THE STABILITRAK, CAUSING IT TO SHUT DOWN. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT REPAIR WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OF CYLINDER HEADS AND OTHER EQUIPMENT, WHICH IS A DRACONIAN PROCEDURE WHICH WILL TAKE A WEEK OR MORE. IN ADDITION, THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE PROBLEM IS CAUSING PERMANENTLY DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE'S DRIVETRAIN WHICH WORSENS WITH MILES DRIVEN. THE DEALER FURTHER ADVISED THAT REPAIR PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR AT LEAST 8 WEEKS BECAUSE THE PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD IN THE VEHICLE LINE AND GM REFUSES TO MANUFACTURE PARTS IN SUFFICIENT QUANTITIES TO MEET THE NATIONAL DEMAND. I PURCHASED A NEW 2008 GMC ACADIA IN SEPT. OF 2007 AND I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH IS SENSE BUYING. I FEEL THAT IS A VERY UNFAIR TO ME BECAUSE THAT JUST MEANS I HAVE TO DRIVE FURTHER TO FIND A DEALER AND WASTE MORE TIME ON SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. I HAVE 3 KIDS AND THEY CAN NOT EVEN SIT ON THAT SEAT BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN ITS GOING TO CATAPULT THEM UP AND INTO THE BACK OF THE DRIVERS SEAT. THE GMC DEALER WAS CALLED AGAIN AND THEY OFFERED FREE MAINTENANCE/SERVICE (WHICH WAS INCLUDED IN THE CONTACT'S EXTENDED WARRANTY), BUT THERE WAS NO REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LIGHT EVENTUALLY DIMMED, BUT ILLUMINATED AGAIN AT LEAST 3 MORE TIMES. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 938 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 800.
EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING VEHICLE. WHEN VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND AT A STOP, EXHAUST FUMES ENTER THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. ALL WINDOWS ARE IN THE UP POSITION, AND ALL DOORS ARE PROPERLY CLOSED DURING THE EVENT. RESULTS IN NAUSEA AND HEADACHE. OCCURS EVERY TIME VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. DEALER HAS NOT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. *TR

MVA 2/2/08, NO INJURIES. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HIT. COMPLAINT #1, GM WOULD NOT RELEASE PARTS FOR REPAIRS TO BE DONE IN A TIMELY FASHION. AS OF MAY 1, 2008, VEHICLE IS STILL NOT REPAIRED. GM ENGINEER CHECKED VEHICLE DUE TO NO AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND STATES NO SENSORS HIT. HOWEVER, ON APRIL 30 THE BODY SHOP STATES THEY REMOVED FRONT DASH AND FOUND AN AIR BAG SENSOR TO BE "FRIED". WE NOTIFIED CONSUMER SAFETY DIVISION AT GM AND WAS TOLD CASE WAS CLOSED AND NO FURTHER INVESTIGATION WOULD BE PERFORMED DESPITE THE NEW FINDING. I FIND GM TO BE VERY NEGLIGENT FROM THE BEGINNING OF THIS INCIDENT. WE HAVE MADE CAR PAYMENTS AND PAID INSURANCE ON A VEHICLE THAT WE CANNOT DRIVE AND NOW I DO NOT FEEL SAFE PUTTING MY FAMILY IN A VEHICLE THAT I AM NOT SURE IS SAFE. THE VEHICLE IS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. GMC ACADIA WAS BOUGHT IN JANUARY 2008. HAS BEEN BACK 4 TIMES FOR PROPANE SMELL THAT COMES INTO THE CAR FROM THROUGH THE VENTS. IT MOSTLY HAPPENS WHEN I STOP FOR A RED LIGHT. THE FUMES SEEM TO BACK UP INTO THE CAR. CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS SWITCH OUT BUT IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN EVEN AFTER 7000 MILES. HAVE CALLED GM CORP AS WELL AS DEALER TO COMPLAIN THAT THE SMELL IS MAKING ME SICK. DOCTOR NOTES HAVE BEEN SENT TO DEALER AND CORP BUT STILL NOT RESOLVED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MIDDLE BENCH (60/40 SPLIT) HAD AN ISSUE WHERE THE 60 PART WOULD CONSTANTLY "POP" UP TOWARDS THE DRIVER SEAT. THE ISSUE WAS NOTICED EVERY-TIME SOMEONE SAT IN THE VEHICLE. A 164-LB MAN WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT AND WAS LIFTED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. SHE HAD TO SIT HER CHILD SEAT ON THE 40 PART TO AVOID INJURY OF HER CHILD. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS A TOTAL OF SEVEN TIMES. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NEVER FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE THAT WOULD INDICATE A CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER TOLD HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER WHICH SHE HAD AN APPOINTMENT SET FOR 11/06/09. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,000. SIMILAR TO COMPLAINT # 10224804, I HAVE ALSO HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY GMC ACADIA. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, AND TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE GAS CAP WASN'T FULLY TIGHTENED, AND THAT'S WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. THIS HAPPENED TWICE. AFTER THE THIRD TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE DEALERSHIP "MAGICALLY" DISCOVERED THAT IT WASN'T THE GAS CAP. THERE WAS A BAD SENSOR, A BAD SOLENOID, THE CAMSHAFT WAS INCORRECTLY FIT TO THE ENGINE BLOCK, AND NOW A BAD CYLINDER. NO RESOLUTION FROM GM OTHER THAN THE TECHNICIANS ARE LOOKING INTO THE MATTER. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN WORKING ON THE VEHICLE FOR OVER 30 DAYS NOW WITH NO REPAIR, AND NO IDEA WHEN THE REPAIR IS GOING TO HAPPEN. GM TECH SUPPORT HAS NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP. VEHICLE PURCHASED 12/13/07. FIRST CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON 01/07/08, SECOND 01/17/08, THIRD 5/20/08. MILEAGE: 994. MY COMPLAINT CONCERNS MY 2008 ACADIA DELIVERED SEPT.2007. CURRENTLY WITH LESS THAN 5,900 MILES ON IT. IT IS NOW IN THE SHOP FOR FAILURE TO START FOR THE THIRD TIME. THE BATTERY IS SOMEHOW BEING DISCHANGED. OTHER THAN REPLACING THE ORIGINAL BATTERY, ON THE FIRST OCCURANCE, THE DEALER SERVICE CAN NOT SEEM TO TRACK DOWN THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. THEY SAY THAT THE CHARGING SYSTEM CHECKS OUT OK. IT DOES SEEM TO START FINE FOR A WHILE, SEVERAL WEEKS, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL HAVE A DEAD BATTERY OVER NIGHT. NOTHING IS EVER LEFT ON. I CHECK THAT EACH TIME THE GARAGE DOOR IS CLOSED. THE HEADLIGHTS ALWAYS GO OUT IN ONE MINUTE, IF ON. WHILE DRIVING I DO NOTICE THE VOLTMETER ON NUMEROUS OCCASSIONS WELL STAY AT ABOUT +15 VOLT CHARGING RATE. I KNOW THAT IT SHOULD BE NO HIGHER THAN ABOUT +13.5 VOLTS, AND SOMETIMES IT DOES, BUT MOST TIMES, NOT. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT A POSSIBLE FIRE DANGER AND BEING STRANDED SOMWHERE. I AM AN AIRCRAFT A&P. MY TROUBLE SHOOTING THOUGHTS POINT TO A STARTER SHORTING. I COULD BE WRONG BUT I WOULD START THERE AND PROVE THAT NOT TO BE THE PROBLEM. EASIEST FIX FIRST, THE AIR FORCE WAY. *TR
MY 2008 GMC ACADIA SLT2 MODEL HAS WATER LEAKING INTO THE PASSENGER CABIN. THE WATER LEAKS ARE COMING FROM THE SEAT BELT RETRACTION AREA ON THE PILLARS LEADING DOWN FROM THE ROOF AND ALSO ON THE PILLARS AT THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WHERE THE AIRBAGS ARE LOCATED. I ALSO HAVE WATER SOAKING THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER RUGS, IT APPEARS WATER IS RUNNING DOWN THE FIRE WALL FROM THE FRONT POSSIBLY DOWN THE PILLARS. THE ROOD HEADLINER IS GETTING WET AT EACH SPOT WHERE THE ROOF PILLARS MEET THE HEADLINER. I AM QUITE CONCERNED ABOUT WATER AFFECTING THE ELECTRONICS, FUSE BOX, AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MOLD. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL SQUEAKS WHEN I DEPRESS IT AND I ATTRIBUTE THIS TO THE WATER HITTING AREAS IT SHOULD NOT BE. I PURCHASED THIS CAR WITH 1,275 MILES ON IT AS A CERTIFIED PRE OWNED VEHICLE ON 12/12/07 AND I AM BRINGING IT BACK TO THE DEALER TOMORROW 12/26/07 TO SEE WHAT THEY PLAN ON DOING TO REMEDY SAME. TURNED DOWN A ROAD AND FELT SOMETHING POP AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 2ND. GEAR. SINCE THEN HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING TO EXCESSIVELY. THAT SOME ISSUES WITH EXTREMELY EXCESSIVE SHIFTING. ONCE MY WIFE PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT CAUSING A MAN IN A TRUCK TO SLID OFF OF THE ROAD TO AVOID HITTING HER BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT AND GO DOWN THE ROAD. THE SEAT BELT LATCHES IN THE SECOND ROW BENCH SEAT IN OUR 2008 GMC ACADIA PRESENT AN INJURY RISK. THEY ARE MADE OF METAL, EXTEND APPROXIMATELY THREE INCHES ABOVE THE SEAT, AND ARE IMMOVABLE. WHEN A PERSON TRIES TO "SLIDE" ACROSS THE SEAT THE LATCH CAN CAUSE INJURY. IT WOULD BE WORSE IT A PERSON SIT ON THE LATCH DIRECTLY. POC, [XXX], I HAVE MET WITH BEFORE IN REGARDS TO A RECALL, AND TOLD HIM ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THAT I HEARD SOME SOUNDS COMING FROM THE ENGINE, I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT HEAR ANYTHING. 25 SEPT 2013 SUV LEFT AT SHOP, [XXX]WOULD CALL ME THAT DAY. I DIDN'T HEAR FROM HIM, 1 OCT 2013 I STOP BY HENNESSEY, ON THE SUV'S PROBLEM, SPOKE TO [XXX], I STATED THAT I BEEN WAITING FOR HIS CALL, THEY WERE STILL CHECKING IT OUT, BUT GMC ONLY PAYING FOR ONE HOUR, TO OPEN UP THE ENGINE, IT MAY COST $500 TO $ 600 DOLLARS. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE. HUMMVE. THE MILITARY LEARN DECADES AGO THAT VEHICLE MANUFACTURES WILL DELIVERY VEHICLES WITH DEFECTED PARTS, SUCH AS ENGINES, TRANSMISSIONS, THAT CAN BE OUT OF TOLERANCE. THE ARMY STARTED PULLING OIL SAMPLES, AND SENDING THEM TO THE LABS FOR TEST, FOR WATER, METAL, AND ANY OTHER FOREIGN MATTER, THIS HELP TO IDENTIFY ISSUES IN THE ENGINE BEFORE THE ?WARRANTIES EXPIRED.
