TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45-60 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. HE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WITHIN A COUPLE OF SECONDS THE VEHICLE STARTED MOVING IN REVERSE. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE AFTER THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER REPAIRED THE AIR BAG LIGHT. THE FAILURE HAPPENED AGAIN ON DECEMBER 22, 2010 AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,200.
MY 2008 GMC ACADIA HAS HAD A RECURRING ISSUE WITH THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR. A NOTIFICATION IN THE DASHBOARD SAYS "SERVICE AIR BAG". I TOOK IT TO THE GMC DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT IN RICHMOND VA SOON AFTER PURCHASING. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. IT CONTINUED TO BE A PROBLEM. THE GMC DEALERSHIP IN MANASSAS VA SAID THEY FIXED IT WHEN I TOOK IT TO THEM LATER. I TOOK IT BACK A MONTH LATER BECAUSE THEIR "FIX" DID NOT WORK AND THE "SERVICE AIR BAG" INDICATOR STILL COMES ON. BEFORE IT WOULD COME ON PERIODICALLY, BUT NOW IT IS ON ALMOST ALL THE TIME. MY CAR DOES NOT PASS INSPECTION NOW AND THE GMC DEALERSHIP WANTS $1000 TO REPLACE THE SENSOR EVEN THOUGH THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR SINCE I PURCHASED IT FROM THE DEALER.
MY 2008 GMC ACADIA PASSENGER SIDE HEAD LIGHT WENT OUT ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. I PURCHASED A REPLACEMENT LIGHT BULB AND TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. WHEN HE TOOK APART THE COMPARTMENT WHERE THE LIGHT IS HE FOUND THAT THE WIRING HARNESS THAT PLUGS INTO THE BULB WAS COMPLETELY BURNED AND MELTED. THERE WAS NO WAY OF REPLACING THE WIRING HARNESS WITHOUT SPLICING THE WIRING AND INSTALLING AN AFTERMARKET CONNECTOR PART. THIS WEEKEND THE DRIVERS SIDE BULB WAS OUT AND AGAIN WE HAD IT TAKEN APART ONLY TO FIND THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM WITH THAT BULB. IN ADDITION HE CHECKED ON THE OTHER ONE JUST TO SEE HOW IT WAS WORKING AND FOUND THAT THE BULB IS AGAIN GETTING TOO HOT FOR THE WIRING AND WILL LIKELY BURN UP THE HARNESS AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR 2 ELECTRICAL ISSUES, THE MOST RECENT BEING A CIRCUIT THAT COULD OVER HEAT AND CAUSE A FIRE. IN ADDITION TO THE HEADLIGHT ISSUES I HAVE HAD MY PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW WONT ROLL DOWN AND THE POWER REAR HATCH HAS STARTED TO MALFUNCTION AND CLOSES AT RANDOM AND IF NOT CAREFUL WILL SMASH YOU IF YOU ARE UNDER IT. *TR
RECENTLY, WHEN LOADING THE CARGO AREA OF MY 08 GMC ACADIA, THE VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING FORWARD (THE IGNITION WAS OFF, AND IN "PARK"). IT ROLLED APPROXIMATELY 2 FT. BEFORE "PARK" ENGAGED. (MY 2 GRANDSONS WERE PLAYING IN MY DRIVEWAY A SHORT DISTANCE AWAY). AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE CHECKED OUT AT THE GMC DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED THE SERVICE MGR TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A "NORMAL" CONDITION, ACCEPTABLE BY GM, THAT THE PARKING GEAR "PAWL" CAN ACTUALLY ROLL UP TO 2 FT. BEFORE ENGAGING. IT DOESN'T SEEM PROBABLE, OR EVEN POSSIBLE THIS CAN BE CONSIDERED TO BE A "SAFE" CONDITION. WHEN I ASKED WHO WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR INJURIES RESULTING FROM THIS SITUATION HIS RESPONSE WAS, "GM". *TR
THE HEADLIGHT COVERING HAS MELTED TO WHERE THE LIGHTS ARE NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH TO REALLY SEE WELL AT NIGHT. CAR HAS 103,000 AND THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY HAS LET WATER INTO THE INSIDE AND. THE LIGHTS ARE ON ALL THE TIME AND THE COVERING IS PLASTIC. WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR SINCE NEW. SAW AND HAVE READ REPORTS OF OTHERS WITH THE SAME CONDITION.
2008 ACADIA 50,000 MILES. A WHINNING NOISE FROM THE TIME I START THE CAR UNTIL THE CAR IS CUT OFF. REPAIRMAN STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THEY HAD NO FIX FOR IT NOW. HE TOLD ME IT WOULD BE OKAY TO DRIVE..........NOT VERY HAPPY!!!! *TR
REPEATED (AT LEAST 5 TIMES) LEAK ALONG THE AIRBAG DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. DEALER SAYS THEY FIX IT AND THE PROBLEM REAPPEARS ON THE NEXT RAIN EVENT. CAUSING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND MOLD PROBLEM IN THE CAR. *TR
MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED A NEW 2008 GMC ACADIA IN AUGUST 2009. WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OR SO I NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE DIM AND THE PLASTIC OVER THE LIGHTS STARTED TO PEEL. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO, THAT WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I CALLED GM DIRECT AND THEY ALSO SAID THERE WASN'T A RECALL AND THAT IT WAS PROBABLY A CHEMICAL THAT WE USED TO WASH OUR CAR, THAT CAUSED THE PEELING. THEY QUOTED ME $800 FOR A NEW SET OF HEADLIGHTS... UGH... A YEAR OR SO LATER, I BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE STRUTS. THEY BEGAN TO LEAK. I THOUGHT IT WAS MY BRAKE LINE AND I TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE STRUTS WERE BAD AND NEEDED REPLACING. AT THAT TIME THERE WAS AROUND 36,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I HAD THEM CHANGED OUT AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THEY WERE THE WORST HE HAD EVER SEEN. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN THE SAME. IT'S NOT NEAR AS SMOOTH AS IT WAS AND IT MAKES NOISE. I HAD IT CHECKED TO BE SURE THEY WERE INSTALLED PROPERLY AND THEY WERE. THE WHOLE PROCESS COST ME ABOUT $900.00 THE NEXT ISSUE I HAVE HAD IS MORE SEVER. THIS JUST HAPPENED A FEW MONTHS AGO. I WAS TAKING MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND SAID STABLE TRACK WENT OFF AND THE ENGINE LOST PRESSURE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. AFTER IT COOLED DOWN I COULD DRIVE A LITTLE FURTHER AND THE SAME THING WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE AND IT WOULD PROBABLY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY CLEANED IT FOR NOW, BUT I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT ANYWHERE! NOW THE POWER STEERING IS MAKING NOISE WHEN YOU TURN THE WHEEL, SOUNDS LIKE THE POWER STEERING PUMP MIGHT BE GOING OUT NOW AS WELL. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 65,000 MILES ON IT.. *TR
ON AUG 9TH AFTER LEAVING SAN BERNARDINO CA.. I WAS DRIVING UP THE CAJON PASS TO RETURN HOME. I HAD THE CAR IN CRUISE & GAVE IT SOME GAS SO THAT I COULD GET UP THE GRADE BECAUSE THERE WAS A CAR BEHIND ME THAT WAS FAIRLY CLOSE. AS SOON AS I GAVE IT GAS THE CAR LOST ENGINE POWER & I HAD TO MOVE OVER TO THE SHOULDER. THE CAR CAME TO A STOP & I WAS UNABLE TO GET IT RESTARTED. I THOUGHT IT HAD OVERHEATED BUT LOOKING BACK ON THE SITUATION. I DON'T THINK THAT WAS THE PROBLEM .I ATTEMPTED TO START THE ENGINE AGAIN AFTER SITTING FOR SEVERAL MINUTES & IT STALLED AGAIN. I SAT FOR SEVERAL MORE MINUTES, TRIED AGAIN & IT STARTED . I STAYED ON THE SHOULDER UNTIL IT GAINED SPEED, & I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. ON TUES. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP & THEY HAD ME TOW THE CAR IN. THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THIS IS THE ONLY TIME I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. *TR
I OWN A 2008 GMC ACADIA WITH MELTING HEADLIGHTS. THE PLASTIC HOUSING IS MELTING AND THE BULBS ARE MELTING INTO THE SOCKETS. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS FOR MANY MONTHS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM INCLUDING REPLACING 3 BATTERIES IN 1 1/2 YEARS. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED BY THE DEALER WHICH FINDS "NO PROBLEM" WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AND NO EXPLANATION FOR THE BATTERY LIFE. WITH INTENSE HEAT THAT WOULD BE NECESSARY TO CAUSE THIS SOCKET TO MELT, METAL AND ALL, IS OF GREAT CONCERN, AND IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. THIS VEHICLE ALSO WAS INVOLVED IN A RECENT RECALL FOR POSSIBLE FIRE WITH HEATED WINDSHIELD WIPERS (NOW DISCONNECTED). HOPEFULLY, THIS CAN BE INVESTIGATED, SO THAT NO ONE GETS HURT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SEATBELTS FAILED. THE VEHICLE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RELEASE A CHILD PASSENGER AND WITH EVERY EFFORT TO REMOVE THE SEAT BELT, IT ONLY BECAME TIGHTER AROUND THE CHILD. THE CONTACT HAD TO CUT THE SEAT BELT FROM AROUND THE CHILD PASSENGER. THE DEALER ADVISED REPLACING THE SEAT BELT. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE SEAT BELT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
MY 2008 GMC ACADIA HAS TROUBLE ACCELERATING/MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. THE TRANSMISSION, AT LEAST ACCORDING TO A GMC SERVICE WRITER, IS DUE TO GMC'S TRANSMISSION DESIGN. IT WAS INTENDED TO UPSHIFT AND EVEN SKIP GEARS, IN ORDER TO CONSERVE FUEL. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS WAS "CORRECTED" IN LATER YEARS. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS "NOT A PROBLEM, IT IS THE WAY IT WAS DESIGNED TO OPERATE". IF THAT IS THE CASE, THEN WHY WAS IT CORRECTED IN SUBSEQUENT MODELS? ENTERING TRAFFIC IS DANGEROUS, THE TRANSMISSION "LAGS" AT ALL THE WRONG TIMES, AND ACCELERATING TO PASS, OR WHILE CHANGING LANES, PRODUCES THE SAME LAGGING EFFECT, THEREBY CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO BECOME A ROAD HAZARD! THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE TO ME, AND AFTER SPENDING ALMOST $30,000 ON THIS VEHICLE IN 2010, I DO NOT FEEL I ALONE, OR I WHILE DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY, SHOULD BE SUBJECTED TO THIS DANGEROUS AND HAZARDOUS SITUATION 90% OF THE TIME WE ARE ON THE ROAD. *TR
ON THE FREEWAY, POWER WENT OUT. CAR WAS TOWED . TRANSMISSION WAS OUT AND WAS REPLACED. *TR
GMC 2008 ACADIA, VIN [XXX] MILEAGE 33,893 POWER STEERING FAILURE DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING, ALMOST CAUSING POTENTIALLY FATAL/INJURY INCIDENT. HAD IT "REPAIRED" AT DEALER ON JUNE 21, 2010. DEALER INDICATED THAT THERE ARE FREQUENT PROBLEMS WITH POWER STEERING FAILURE ON THE ACADIA. RE-OCCURRED WITH NEARLY HEAD-ON ACCIDENT AT HIGH WAY SPEEDS ON JUNE 27, 2010. NHTSA SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS BASED UPON DEALER'S COMMENT THAT THIS IS OCCURRING WITH SOME FREQUENCY. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING LOCKED UP TWICE WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING AT 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING BELT FAILED. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLAINT; THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT SHE WOULD RECEIVE A CALL BACK. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 32,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF ONCE THE KEY WAS TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION. THE CONTACT COULD REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO RUN UNTIL THE BATTERY DIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE CAUSED BY A WATER LEAK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE MOLDING AROUND THE SUN ROOF WHERE THE WATER WAS LEAKING IN FROM. THE FAILURE CONTINUED, AS WATER CONTINUED TO LEAK INTO THE VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN WHEN THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THE HEADLIGHTS WERE MALFUNCTIONING AS WELL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
I NOTICED THAT WHEN DRIVING ON AN EXPRESSWAY AND WOULD ATTEMPT TO PASS A SLOWER MOVING VEHICLE, AS I WOULD MOVE INTO THE PASSING LANE AND ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR WOULD HESITATE FOR A FEW SECONDS, LOSE SPEED, THEN SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFT AND ACCELERATE AT AN UNEXPECTED RATE. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE CAR WOULD UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATE OR DECELERATE UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR, THEY RESPONDED THAT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG, BUT THE WHAT I WAS EXPERIENCING WAS CHARACTERISTIC OF THE 6-SPEED TRANSMISSION ON THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AND I FOUND IT DANGEROUS. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE AND THE DEALER'S REMEDY WAS TO "RESET THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER." DURING THIS TIME, I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE "SERVICE STABILITRAC AND TRACTION CONTROL" WARNING WOULD COME ON. ONSTAR RECOMMENDED I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE TO RESET THE SYSTEM. I FOUND THIS ONLY HAPPENED WHEN I FIRST USED THE CAR IN THE MORNINGS TO GO TO WORK. AGAIN, THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG AND THE COMPUTERS WERE SHOWING NO CODES -- THEY ALSO STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I GOT THE CAR BACK FROM THE DEALER AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN - AT 7:00 AM. I CALLED ONSTAR AND THEY GAVE ME TWO CODES. I BOUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND GAVE HIM THE CODES. IT NOW SEEMS THAT THERE WERE TWO DEFECTIVE SENSORS CONTROLLING THE STABILITRAC / TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM AND HOW THEY COMMUNICATE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS TOLD THAT GM IS CHANGING MANUFACTURERS ON THE SENSORS. I HAVE NOT HAD USE OF THE CAR SINCE THE BEGINNING OF JUNE AND AM STILL WAITING FOR GM TO PRODUCE THESE PARTS. IN THE MEANTIME, UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION, DECELERATION, AND GEAR SHIFTING WAS OCCURRING UNDER ALL DRIVING SITUATIONS CAUSING -- IN MY MIND -- A DANGER TO MYSELF, MY PASSENGERS, AND OTHERS. THE DEALER HAS HAD THE CAR ON FIVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS SINCE JUNE 8. THIS LAST SERVICE THEY HAVE HAD THE CAR SINCE JULY 20. *TR
FOR THE THIRD TIME IN LESS THAN A YEAR THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON WITH A MESSAGE TO "SERVICE AIRBAG." TODAY WHILE STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT MY WIFE SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING BUT COULDN'T DETERMINE THE ORIGIN. 15 MINUTES LATER AFTER PICKING UP OUR 5 YEAR OLD FROM KINDERGARTEN AND STARTING THE CAR, THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT AND MESSAGE CAME ON. WE WILL AGAIN GO TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR (OUR DEDUCTIBLE IS $200 ON THE WARRANTY). I HAVE THREE CHILDREN AGE 2, 5, AND 12 THAT RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE. PREVIOUSLY, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THAT WHEN THIS LIGHT COMES ON THE AIRBAGS MAY NOT WORK OR MAY DISCHARGE INVOLUNTARILY EVEN WITHOUT A COLLISION. *TR
DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS BURN OUT ON GMC ACADIA. LIGHT GETS SO HOT, THEY MELTED AND BURNED THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. THIS IS A POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD. I HAVE HAD THE LAMPS REPLACED 4 TIMES BY THE DEALERSHIP, BETWEEN BOTH HEADLIGHTS ASSEMBLIES. LESS THEN 60,000 MILES, THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS SO BADLY BURNT AND BRIDLE, IT FELL APART IN THE TECHNICIANS HAND AND IT WOULD NOT HOLD A LAMP ANYMORE. THE WHOLE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY NEEDS REPLACED. THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY HEAT FROM THE HALOGEN LAMPS. AN EASY FIX COULD BE REPLACING THE HALOGEN LAMPS WITH LEDS. THESE ARE DAY TIME LAMPS ONLY AND ARE ON ALL THE TIME. THIS IS A VERY POOR DESIGN AND CRAFTSMANSHIP BY GMC AND A SAFETY ISSUE THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO CORRECT. I HAVE TRIED ADDRESSING THE ISSUE DIRECTLY WITH GMC WITH NO LUCK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ARCADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE PASSENGERS SIDE AIR BAG HAD A COIL FAN THAT WAS ON HIGH RESISTANCE ON STAGE ONE AND THAT IT WAS NOT A COMMON FAILURE. THE DEALER HAD TO ORDER THE NECESSARY PARTS TO MAKE THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,500.
WHINING WHILE DRIVING AND CLANKING NOISE WHILE GOING OVER BUMPS-WAS TOLD THE WHINING WAS THE POWER STEERING, AND NEEDED THE POWER STEERING PUMP TO BE CHANGED. I WAS TOLD THE CLANKING NOISE WAS DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH THE RACK AND PINION. BOTH ARE DIRECTLY RELATED. I WAS TOLD THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE RACK AND PINION, BUT GMC WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM RIGHT NOW, IT WAS A PROBLEM THAT'S "ON HOLD." *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN THE MIDDLE ROW SEAT BEGAN TO FRACTURE FROM THE BASE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REATTACH THE SEAT TO ITS BASE. AN OCCUPIED CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM WAS SECURED TO THE MIDDLE ROW BY THE LATCH SYSTEM DURING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT PURCHASED A NEW CHILD RESTRAINT HOWEVER THE FAILURE PERSISTED INTERMITTENTLY AND ONLY WHEN THE CHILD RESTRAINT WAS SECURED TO THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A ROCK UNDER THE VEHICLE CUT THE HARNESS WIRE SINCE IT WAS UNPROTECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,800. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,000.
I WISH TO INFORM YOU OF A CRITICAL STEERING DEFECT IN THE 2008 GMC ACADIA. AT 42,000 MILES I NOTICES A DECLINE IN POWER STEERING FLUID. WHEN QUESTIONED GMC INFORM ME THAT IS WAS LOW DUE TO AIR POCKETS IN THE FLUID SYSTEM RELEASING OVER TIME THUS CAUSING VOLUME LOSS. AT 50,000 ALL THE POWER STEERING FLUID RAN OUT ON MY DRIVEWAY. GMC OF COURSE CHARGED ME $420 FOR THE SAID REPAIR. WHEN CONTACTED AGAIN (FOLLOWING THE REPAIR) GMC DISMISSED THE PROBLEM AND OFFERED ME AN OIL CHANGE FOR MY TROUBLES. THE CONSUMER END OF THIS IS THAT ALONG WITH THE CHANCE OF FIRE, THE VEHICLE'S DESIGN REQUIRES THE ENTIRE FRONT GRILL TO BE REMOVED IN ORDER TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT WIRING HARNESS AND HOUSING. THIS LABOR INTENSIVE METHOD MEANS THAT REPLACING THIS PART CAN COST UPWARD OF $900. AND IT STILL DOES NOT ADDRESS THE INITIAL PROBLEM OF THE OVERHEATING THAT CAUSED THE WIRING HARNESS TO MELT INTO THE HOUSING. I CALLED GMC TO REPORT THIS AND THEY SAID THEY HAD NO COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE. THE MIDDLE BELT EXTENDS FROM THE ROOF DOWN TO THE SEAT. HE OBVIOUSLY PULLED IT OUT ENOUGH TO WRAP IT AROUND HIMSELF ONE TIME AND THEN THROUGH WIGGLING CAUSED IT TO TIGHTEN AND THEN AS HE STRUGGLED TO GET OUT, IT KEPT TIGHTENING. WHEN I FINALLY PULLED OVER TO HELP HIM, THE BELT WAS SO TIGHT I COULD NOT EVEN GET A FINGER BETWEEN HIM AND THE BELT. HE WAS GASPING FOR AIR AND CRYING. THIS BELT NEEDS A REGULAR BELT LATCH. *TR

I PURCHASED MY GMC ACADIA '08 SLT-2 IN FEBRUARY, 2008 FROM THE FIRST OWNER WITH ONLY 4800 MILES. A MONTH LATER, I NOTICED WATER DRIPPING FROM UNDERNEATH THE GLOVE BOX AND IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT IN FOR THE "RECALL." THEY "FIXED" IT, AND MUCH TO MY DELIGHT, I HAD NO PROBLEM UNTIL ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO (ALMOST A YEAR WITH NO WATER). THEN I NOTICED THE LEAK AGAIN--SAME SPOT. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER, AND THEY ATTEMPTED THE REPAIR ONCE MORE, CLAIMING IT WAS SOME SORT OF LOOSE GROMMET. AGAIN, THEY "FIXED" THE PROBLEM AND SENT ME ON MY MERRY WAY. THE NEXT DAY, IT POURED, AND EVEN MORE WATER CAME FROM BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX. I AGAIN TOOK THE CAR IN, AND THIS TIME, THEY HELD IT FOR THREE DAYS AND APPARENTLY FOUND TWO LEAKS, THE MORE SIGNIFICANT OF WHICH WAS FROM THE LACK OF ADEQUATE SILICONE FASTENING THE PLASTIC SHIELD UNDERNEATH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THIS IS IN REGARDS TO THE WINDOW SEAL ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOW. IT HOLDS WATER IN THE SEAL AND HAS A VERY STRONG OFFENSIVE MOLD/MILDEW ODOR. EACH TIME YOU ROLL DOWN EITHER WINDOW THE SMELL IS SO STRONG THAT YOUR ALLERGIES ARE IMMEDIATELY AFFECTED. I DON'T THINK IT IS HEALTHY TO CONSTANTLY SMELL MOLD WHEN YOU'RE DRIVING YOUR VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER A COUPLE OF TIMES AND THEY AGREED THAT IT WAS HORRIBLE, BUT ONLY SUGGESTED THAT I TAKE AN AIR HOSE AND BLOW OUT THE TRAPPED WATER. THAT DOESN'T WORK BECAUSE EACH TIME IT RAINS OR YOU WASH YOUR VEHICLE IT SMELLS AGAIN. I HATE DRIVING A NEWER VEHICLE THAT SMELLS LIKE A MOLDED TRASH CONTAINER. I WOULD LIKE A BETTER SOLUTION FOR THIS NEVER ENDING PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WITH A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SHE NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATING, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THE PASSENGER MUST BE AT LEAST 70 POUNDS FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG TO FUNCTION; THEREFORE, IT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR WHENEVER SMALLER PASSENGERS WOULD SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE FAILURE WOULD ALSO INTERMITTENTLY RECUR WHEN AVERAGE SIZED ADULTS WOULD SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE WAS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND IT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
BOLTS FELL OUT OF FRONT DRIVE SHAFT CAUSING DRIVE SHAFT TO BECOME DISLODGED AND HANG DOWN STRIKING ROADWAY. WOULD ACT AS A VAULT POINT AT HIGHWAY SPEED. MINOR DAMAGE TO BOTTOM OF VEHICLE FROM ROTATING/ BOUNCING DRIVESHAFT. DEALER INSTALLED "AN UPGRADED BOLTKIT" THIS MAKES ME THINK THIS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IF THE BOLT KIT IS UPGRADED. *TR
