TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MANEUVER THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT POWER STEERING OR BRAKING ABILITY. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS HEADLIGHTS KEEP BURNING OUT. I HAVE REPLACED THE DRIVERS SIDE 3 TIMES AND THE PASSENGER SIDE 2 TIMES IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS THIS IS A FAMILY CAR AND THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.
RANDOM LOSS OF POWER STEERING DURING TURNS...AS OTHERS...LOSS OF POWER STEERING OCCUR THROUGH DURATION OF TURNING...ONCE TURN HAS BEEN FORCED, POWER STEERING RETURNS....HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 GMC ACADIA. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. ADDITIONALLY, THE HEADLAMP CONNECTOR WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES FOR OVERHEATING AND MELTING THE WIRES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR WINDOWS WERE INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURES WERE INTERMITTENT. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. VEHICLE IS SHOWING A P0008 CODE WITH 92,000 MILES THIS IS A CRANKSHAFT MISALIGNMENT THAT I WAS TOLD MEANS THE TIMING CHAIN WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS APPARENTLY A WIDESPREAD ISSUE AMONGST GMC ACADIA OWNERS.
MY TIMING CHAIN WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY 4 YEAR AND 50,000 MILES AGO. NOW I AM HAVING TO REPLACE IT AGAIN. I CONTACT GMC ABOUT RECALL10287 PREMATURE CHAIN WEAR FOR REPROGRAMMING OF THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. I WAS TOLD THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO MY YEAR AND THERE WAS NO PART LISTED BECAUSE IT JUST A GENERAL STATEMENT. NOT SURE WHERE TO GO FROM HERE. HERE IS MY CASE # FOR GMC 8-4704107640. I AM STILL AWAITING THE PART INFORMATION FROM THEM.
THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT TEN TIMES NOW ALL WITHIN THE PAST 3-4 MONTHS. I WILL BE DRIVING AND GO TO MAKE A TURN AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND THE ENGINE DIES. THE BRAKES STILL WORK SO I AM ABLE TO STOP THE CAR, TURN THEY KEY OFF AND RESTART IT. IT HAD HAPPENED TO ME ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE REST OF THE TIMES HAVE BEEN STOP AND GO TURNS IN THE CITY BUT ONCE WAS WHILE TURNING LEFT ONTO ON CMONG TRAFFIC AND MY CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF IT. I TOOK IT TO 3 DIFFERENT AUTO PLACES AND ALL TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. I THEN RESEARCHED THIS AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. I CONTACTED THEM AND THEY SET ME UP WITH A DEALERSHIP TO GET IT FIXED. GMC SAID IF IT WAS UNDER 150,000 MILES THEY WOULD PAY FOR IT AND IF IT WAS OVER THEN I WOULD STILL QUALIFY FOR A PAYMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. HOWEVER A DAY AFTER DROPPING OFF MY CAR TO GET FIXED THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME AND SAID THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX MY CAR AND TO COME GET IT OUT OF THEIR PARKING LOT. WE TOLD GMC ABOUT THIS AND THEY SAID IT'S NOT THERE PROBLEM. I'M AT A LOSS AT THIS POINT AS NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO FIX THE CAR AND IT IS A DEATH TRAP FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. I'M ALSO NOT JUST GOING TO SELL TO THE CAR TO SOMEBODY LIKE THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME TO DO BECAUSE 'THEY WOULDN'T WANT THEIR SON OR DAUGHTER DRIVING THAT THING' (EVEN THOUGH THEY SEEM PERFECTLY FINE TO HAVE ME DRIVE IT OFF THEIR LOT ASAP AND NOT BE THEIR PROBLEM ANYMORE) BECAUSE I WOULDNT FEEL RIGHT SELLING A CAR TO SOMEONE KNOWING IT COULD KILL THEM THROUGH NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO HERE. THE RIGHT THING TO DO WOULD BE TO PUT THAT CAR IN THE JUNKYARD AND BUY A NEW ONE BUT I DON'T HAVE THE CASH. WOULD LIKE SOMEBODY TO TELL ME HOW TO FIX THIS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NYE BUICK GMC (LOCATED AT 1421 GENESEE ST, ONEIDA, NY 13421, (315) 363-2200) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000. *TT CONSUMER STATED TIMING CHAINS WERE REPLACED.*JB
THE PASSENGER SEAT SEATBELT AND AIRBAG LIGHTS COME ON WHEN NO ONE IS IN THE SEAT, OR WHEN SOMETHING VERY LIGHT, SUCH AS A COKE CAN IS IN THE SEAT. THIS CAN HAPPEN AT ANY POINT DURING A TRIP, AND I HAVE TO BUCKLE THE SEATBELT TO STOP THE WARNING BELL. IT MAKES ME NERVOUS THAT THE SEAT IS SO SENSITIVE, AND I FEAR THE AIRBAG MAY BE SENSITIVE AS WELL. I MAKE MY DAUGHTER SIT IN THE BACK, BECAUSE I'M CONCERNED FOR HER SAFETY. THE VEHICLE CAN BE STATIONARY OR IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IT USED TO HAPPEN RANDOMLY, BUT IT'S BEEN HAPPENING EVEN IF NOTHING IS IN THE SEAT THE LAST FOUR DAYS. THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE.
I OWN A 2010 GMC ACADIA... I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE LOW BEAMS ON BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE NUMEROUS TIMES!!!!!!!! I'M A SINGLE MOTHER OF 3... NOT ONLY IS IT EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR YOUR HEADLIGHTS TO GO OUT AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT(ESPECIALLY WHEN MY CHILDREN ARE IN THE VEHICLE... NOT TO MENTION OTHER MOTORISTS CHILDREN) BUT ITS ALSO COSTLY!!!!! THIS ALL STARTED BACK IN AUG 2018... THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS!!! I'VE DONE MY DUES... WORKED HARD TO PAY MY VEHICLE OFF...ALL I WANTED WAS A GOOD AND RELIABLE VEHICLE FOR MY FAMILY... AND IT'S FAR FROM SAFE!!!!
AS I ATTEMPT TO MAKE TURNS, WHETHER RIGHT OR LEFT I LOOSE MY POWER STEERING FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS AND THEN IT COMES BACK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT RESTRAINT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V266000 (SEAT BELTS). THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT WILCOXSON CADILLAC BUICK OF PUEBLO (902 N SANTA FE AVE, PUEBLO, CO 81003, (719) 544-4423); HOWEVER, THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE SEAT BEAT RESTRAINT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
WHILE IM DRIVING MY DOORS LOCK AND UNLOCK TH WA BMY RPM JUMPS UP TO 5OR6 CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION SKIP GEARS THEN IT WILL CUT OFF. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHOP SINCE JUNE 5TH. THEY REPLACED SO MANY THINGS ON IT INCLUDING THE TRANSMISSION AND WHEN I PICKED IT UP ON 7-27-18 WHILE ON 95 MY TRUCK DID THE SAME THING, SCARIEST THING IVE EVER DEALT WITH CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO GO TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD CAUSE MY DOORS LOCKED AND UNLOCKED RPM JUMPED TO 6 AND SMELLED LIKE SOMETHING WAS BURNING AND IT CUT OFF.
WHEN I MAKE TURNS, IT LOSES POWER STEERING, THEN COMES BACK AFTER THE TURN IS COMPLETED.
THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED ON THE 2010, WHICH IS THE SAME ISSUE GMC HAD WITH THE 2009S, HOWEVER, THE 2010 ISN'T COVERED, BUT THE 2009 WAS. I'VE READ THAT GMC KNOWS THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE, BUT THEY JUST AREN'T COVERING IT YET.
WHILE DRIVING, MY TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING OCCASIONALLY AND THEN IT BECAME A DAILY OCCURRENCE AND MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY OCCURANCE. WHEN IT SLIPPED, I COULD FEEL IT AND THE RPMS WOULD INCREASE. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE A 3/5 WAVE PLATE FAILURE. THE BROKEN PARTS DAMAGED THE REST OF MY TRANSMISSION AND I HAD TO HAVE A COMPLETE REBUILD. I WAS LUCKY THAT I BROUGHT IT IN TO BE CHECKED AS I FOUND OUT THAT THIS ISSUE COULD HAVE CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO FAIL COMPLETELY WHICH COULD HAVE PUT THE OCCUPANTS OF MY VEHICLE AT RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH DUE TO AN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY LOSS OF POWER DUE TO A DRIVETRAIN FAILURE. I HAVE ALSO READ THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON THE 07-09'S AND THAT RECALL WAS #14404 SPECIAL COVERAGE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH WAVE PLATE. I HAVE ALSO READ THAT THE SAME PART WAS USED IN 2010 BUT THAT GM REFUSES TO EXTEND THIS TO 2010 MODELS EVEN THOUGH 2009 PARTS WERE USED. I HAVE CONTACTED GM AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. IT SHOULD BE SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS MADE IN 2009.
TIMING CHAIN NEEDS TO BE REPLACES AND ISN'T COVERED ALTHOUGH IT'S THE SAME PARTS AS THE 2009 MODEL THAT IS COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. GMC IS AWARE OF THIS ONGOING ISSUE AND SHOULD COVER IT
THE STEERING IS BECOMING PROGRESSIVELY DIFFICULT PARTICULARLY AT LOW SPEEDS. IT APPEARS TO ALMOST LOCK UP. I CONTACTED GMC BECAUSE THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VERY THING AND IT IS QUITE COSTLY TO REPAIR. GMC REFERRED ME BACK TO THE DEALER. THIS IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT IN THIS VEHICLE AND IS A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS CAUGHT UNABLE TO STEER THEIR MOVING ACADIA WITH DISASTEROUS CONSEQUENCES. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT WITH A HISTORY OF THIS PROBLEM FROM 2014 THIS CAR WOULD NOT HAVE LEFT THE DEALERS LOT WITH THE POTENTIAL OF THIS ISSUE YET I PURCHASED IT JUST LAST YEAR. WHAT DO I DO NOW? I SEE THAT I AM THE 129TH OWNER TO COMPLAIN....GMC SHOULD OWN THIS ISSUE AND REPAIR/RECALL IT IMMEDIATELY.
SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH POWER STEERING. APPARENTLY THE DRIVESHAFT IS BROKEN AN IT MAKES THE CAR ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. I HAVE TO USE BOTH HANDS/ARMS AND ALL OF MY STRENGTH TO TURN THE CAR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND GMC HAS ALREADY RECALLED MANY OF THEIR VEHICLES FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. ACADIAS NEED TO BE ADDED TO THAT LIST.
POWER STEERING GETS HARD TO STEER WHILE TURNING, PULLING IN TO PARKING SPACES, GOING AROUND CURVES. BEING TOLD I HAVE TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION AND THEN GM WILL REPLACE THE PUMP. MIDDLE ROW MIDDLE SEATBELT IS LOCKED WON'T PULL OUT. HAD TO REPLACE ALL FRONT SUSPENSION. THIS VEHICLE IS POORLY MADE.
TAKATA RECALL WHEN I GO TO TURN IT SEEMS SOMETIMES LIKE THE POWER STEERING GOES OFF AND I HAVE TO USE ALL MY STRENGTH TO TURN. I'VE ALMOST HIT SOMETHING NUMEROUS TIMES. MY NEIGHBOR HAD TO DRIVE ME TO HOSPITAL AND PANICKED WHEN THAT HAPPENED. SHE SAID SHE WOULD NOT DRIVE THAT CAR AGAIN UNTIL IT WAS FIXED. IT DOESN'T DO IT EVERY TIME YOU DRIVE IT. I TOLD THE CAR DEALER(WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR) ABOUT THIS MY LAST OIL CHANGE. THEY DROVE AROUND THE BLOCK AND SAID IT DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WITH THEM. SO NOTHING WAS DONE. IT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. WHEN I DRIVE MY CAR NOW, I AM SO AFRAID IT WILL DO THIS UNTIL I ALMOST COME TO A STOP BEFORE TURNING. I LOVE MY ACADIA AND AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT NOW. PLEASE HELP ME!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 GMC ACADIA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THE DEALER (WALKER AUTOMOTIVE, 1616 MACARTHUR DRIVE, ALEXANDRIA, LA) INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS ABOUT TO DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE DUE TO A LOOSE SCREW. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AND SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE. LATER IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINED DIED - THERE WAS NEVER EVER WARNING LIGHTS OR WARNING THAT THERE WAS TROUBLE WITH THE CAR. IT IS A 3.6L SIDI VG ENGINE. IT WAS VERY UNFORTUNATE AS WE HAVEN'T EVEN OWNED THE CAR FOR A YEAR BEFORE IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. THE COST WAS WAY TOO HIGH TOO FIX SO WE ENDED UP GIVING IT TO A SALVAGE PLACE AND BOUGHT A 2009 GMC ACADIA. NOT EVEN A YEAR INTO THAT CAR AND IT ALSO NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. SAME ENGINE, A 3.6L SIDI V6 ENGINE. OUR AUTO PLACE SAID THEY ARE HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING THAT ENGINE BECAUSE MANY PEOPLE NEED THAT ENGINE FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. CAN NOT BE A COINCIDENCE. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC AND THEY DON'T CARE.
AFTER TAKING VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND PAYING TO HAVE THE EVAP SYSTEM FIXED MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON BEFORE EVER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP. NO CODES WOULD SHOW WHEN CHECKED. NOW THEY ARE SAYING THAT IT MUST BE THE TIMING CHAIN AND THAT IT WILL COST OVER $2000 TO REPAIR. I HAVE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL OTHER MECHANICS WHO HAVE STATED THAT IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN THIS MODEL CAR. AFTER CHECKING IT SEEMS THAT SEVERAL OTHER YEARS HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND NO CHANGES WERE MADE TO THE PRODUCT BUT YET THE 2010 IS NOT INCLUDED BUT IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THAT YEAR AS WELL. I BELIEVE GMC SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX THIS SINCE IT IS A KNOW DEFECTIVE SYSTEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 GMC ACADIA. WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE LIFTGATE AND IT CLOSED BY ACCIDENT. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RE-OPEN THE LIFTGATE, BUT IT DID NOT OPEN. THE CONTACT NOTICED A "LIFTGATE OPEN" MESSAGE ILLUMINATED BY THE GEARS, WHICH CAUSED THE INTERIOR LIGHTING TO REMAIN ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED (QUIRK FORD, 333 MEMORIAL DR, CHICOPEE, MA 01020) AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT LISTED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO KEEP ALL THE PAPERWORK FOR POSSIBLE REIMBURSEMENT PURPOSES SHOULD SHE DECIDE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
OWNED THE CAR FOR ABOUT A YEAR WITH A 5 YEAR, $20,000 LOAN ATTACHED TO IT. THE CAR RANDOMLY STARTED SMOKING AND ALL KINDS OF WARNING LIGHTS WENT OFF ON THE WAY BACK FROM THE STORE (ABOUT A MILE AWAY). I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND WALKED HOME, WENT BACK AFTER A COUPLE HOURS TO LET IT COOL DOWN AND IT WOULDN'T START. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND IT WAS DEEMED MY CAR WITH AROUND 80,000 MILES ON IT HAD A BLOWN ENGINE DUE TO SOMETHING WITH BELT (SAME ISSUE 2009 MODEL WAS RECALLED FOR) AND IT WAS GOING TO COST OUT OF MY OWN POCKET $7500 TO REPLACE IT WITH A USED ENGINE WITH NO GUARANTEE THAT THE REPLACEMENT ENGINE WON'T HAVE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. IN THE 3 WEEKS IT TOOK US TO DECIDE ON IF IT WAS EVEN POSSIBLY TO COME UP WITH THAT MUCH MONEY, ENGINE PRICES HAD ROSE ANOTHER $500 BECAUSE THEY ARE IN SUCH HOT DEMAND. ENDED UP HAVING TO LET THE BANK REPO IT, RUINING MY CREDIT, NO VEHICLE TO TAKE MY NEWBORN TWINS TO THEIR DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS, OR ANYWAY TO GET TO WORK. GMC NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR NOT PROMPTLY RESPONDING TO THIS DEFECT INSTEAD OF TURNING A BLIND EYE. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE DAY A CLASS ACTION SUIT IS FILED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTROL ARM AND STRUTS FAILED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
DRIVING IN THE RAIN AND THE TRACTION SAFETY CAME ON AS I MAY HAVE SLED ON SOME VERY WET LEAVES. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SHOULDER AND GET OUT OF TRAFFIC, AS I GATHERED MYSELF AND GOT THE CAR READY TO DRIVE OFF THE TIRES STARTED SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL I AWESOME TRYING TO GET TRACTION THEN THE ABS LIGHT APPEARED AND THE BRAKES STARTED GRINDING. THEN THE VEHICLE SWITCH GEARS AND THE CAR BEGIN TO GO IN A JERKY MOVEMENT AT 6 TO 8 MPH THE RPMS WOULD NOT GO UP AND THE CAR WOULD NOT RETURN BACK TO NORMAL GEAR. AFTER PRAYING I MAKE IT TO MY DOOR THE DASH THEN SAID CALIBRATE VEHICLE BY DRIVING IN A CIRCLE. THE CAR CUT OFF TWICE BUT WOULD IMMEDIATELY START RIGHT UP THEN THE DASH STATED ENGINE IS HOT TURN AIR OFF. NO AIR WAS ON AT ALL. THE THERMOSTAT TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS ALL THE WAY UP AND ALL THE NEEDLES WERE FLIPPING UP AND DOWN AT DIFFERENT TIMES. I COULD NOT SEEM TO GAIN TRACTION ONLY IN REVERSE AND NO ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY INDICATION OF ANY MALFUNCTION. CAN YOU SEE WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE BECAUSE AS I SEARCHED TO SEE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM IT HAS BEEN HUNDREDS OF CONSUMERS WITH THIS ISSUE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE TO ALL DRIVERS. GMC NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEIR SO CALLED SAFETY FEATURES THAT ARE NOT SAFE AT ALL. GMC RECALL WAS FOR STEERING PUMP BUT IS MAKING CUSTOMERS REPLACE RACK AND PINION STATING ITS UNRELATED AND IF NOT REPLACED IT WILL NOT HONOR THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY ON THE STEERING PUMP REPLACEMENT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHT MELTED AND LEFT A HOLE IN THE LAMP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT CALLED VICTORY CHEVROLET BUICK AT 734-245-2569 (LOCATED AT 1250 DEXTER ST, MILAN, MI 48160) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.

RACK AND PINION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. WHEN CALLING AROUND TO DEALERSHIPS, THEY SAID THAT ITS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ACADIAS. WHEN A RACK AND PINION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, IT CAUSES THE STEERING WHEEL TO LOCK UP WHEN TURNING. IT IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM. REPLACEMENT COSTS IS AROUND $1,800

AFTER THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED TEMPORARILY, IT RETURNED TO ITS NORMAL FUNCTION. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED WITH THE FOLLOWING CASE NUMBER BY GENERLA MOTORS: C83224002597. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TIMING CHAIN NEEDED REPLACEMENT DUE TO STRETCH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AT 137,882 WHICH COST $2,049. THIS ISSUE WAS COVERED UNDER SPECIAL WARRANTY FOR 2007-2009 MODEL YEARS, BUT THE 2010 IS NOT COVERED. MY UNDERSTANDING OF GMC'S FIX IS THAT NOTHING CHANGED WITH THE TIMING CHAIN AND THE OIL SYSTEM LIFE WAS LOWERED AS TO WHEN AN OIL CHANGE WAS RECOMMENDED BY THE VEHICLE (MORE FREQUENT OIL CHANGES). I HAVE COMPLETED ALL SCHEDULED OIL CHANGES BASED ON THE AUTOMATED PROMPT FROM THE VEHICLE AND STILL HAD TO COMPLETE THIS COSTLY REPAIR OUT OF POCKET. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS KNOWN ISSUE ALSO COVERED BY THE SPECIAL WARRANTY ON NEWER VEHICLES AND BE REIMBURSED FOR MY EXPENSES.
CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY. ENGINE WAS RUNNING SMOOTH. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES ON HWY TO WORK GOT OFF ON CITY STREET AND CAR STARTED SHAKING BAD. PULLED OVER INTO PARKING SPOT AND ENGINE CUT OFF. WOULDN'T RESTART. CALLED TOWING TO OUR REPAIRSHOP. THE FIRST CYLINDER SPARK PLUG WAS BENT RESULTING IN MAJOR ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO TIMING BELT STRETCH. NEED A NEW ENGINE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS BIG PROBLEM WITH GMC ENGINES. BOUGHT THE CAR LESS THAN A YEAR AGO AND IT CURRENTLY HAS 138K MILES. 7K TO REPLACE ENGINE INCLUDING LABOR. WOW MOTHER OF 3 KIDS AND I'M STILL PAYING BIG PAYMENT FOR THE CAR AND INSURANCE.. SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE I JUST FOUND OUT WITH GMC COVERING THE ISSUE UP AND NOT BEING RESPONSIBLE

A CERTIFIED MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE MOTOR BURNED AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I THOUGHT IT WAS THE GAS CAP AS IT CONTINUED TO GO ON AND OFF. I HAD SOMEONE CHECK THE CODES AND IT CAME BACK WITH P0017 AND P0008. IN ADDITION NOW THE A/C BUTTON WON'T STAY ON. IT BLINKS THEN TURNS OFF. I'VE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS FROM OTHER OWNERS AND THAT GMC WILL NOT HONOR THEIR POOR MANUFACTURER WORKMANSHIP. IS ANYONE HELPING THE CONSUMER?
MY CAR HAS LESS THAN 73000 MILES ON IT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CODE INDICATED IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN. THE CAR BROKE DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO A VERY LARGE NUMBER OF OWNERS OF BOTH CHEVROLET TRAVERSE AND GMC ACADIA. THE PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE BEEN FIXED AFTER 2009 BUT 2010'S AND LATER MODELS ARE STILL HAVING THIS PROBLEM. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. GM WILL NOT HELP WITH REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON IT. THAT WAS THE ONLY RUNNING VEHICLE WE HAD!
WHILE I WAS DRIVING TONIGHT MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF IN MID TURN CAUSING LOSS OF POWER STEERING. WHERE THIS HAPPENED IS A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED IT CAME ON FOR A SECOND THEN SHUT OFF AGAIN. THEN WAS ABLE TO GET IT RUNNING AGAIN. I HAD MY WIFE AND 6 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR AND THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DIFFERENT OUTCOME. I HAVE READ MANY OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM IN THESE VEHICLES. I REALLY FEEL THAT GM NEEDS TO TAKE A SERIOUS LOOK AT THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMETHING MAJOR HAPPENS.

SAME ENGINE AS 2009 AND NOT COVERED. FAILED INSPECTION IN NH DUE TO CODE...$2300 IN REPAIRS NEEDED. FILED COMPLAINT WITH GMC...PLAN TO PRINT EXTENSIVE COMPLAINTS FOUND HERE AND HEADING TO DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT.
PURCHASED 2010 GMC ACADIA USED. AT 125000 MILES, ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING, RENDERING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. HAD TO GET TOWED IN. MECHANIC SAID CORROSION IN SOME WIRES. 2 WEEKS LATER, WOULDN'T START, CALLED TOW TRUCK, SUDDENLY STARTED. HAD TO SPEND $1200 HAVING SENSOR REPLACED FROM WATER DAMAGE. HAD TO PAY $300 FOR NEW WINDSHIELD BECAUSE SAID THAT IS WHERE IT WAS LEAKING. 3 WEEKS LATER, WOULDN'T START, MECHANIC SAID TWO FUSES NEEDED REPLACED. 1 WEEK LATER, WOULDN'T START, PAID ANOTHER TOW, THEN STARTED. TOW TRUCK FOLLOWED ME TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP CALLED, SAID IT WAS STARTING FINE. COULDN'T DIAGNOSE IF IT KEPT STARTING. TOLD ME TO COME GET IT. ON MY WAY TO DEALERSHIP, THEY CALLED BACK TO SAY, "BINGO", IT STARTED. NEXT DAY, DIAGNOSED IT IS THE ONSTAR MODULE. WTH! $700 MORE DOLLARS DOWN THE DRAIN. SERIOUSLY! IT ISN'T COVERED UNDER ANY RECALLS. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER GMC.................EVER! COSTING A FORTUNE TO KEEP IT GOING. I'M ON A FIXED INCOME FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. STILL OWE FOR THE VEHICLE, TRADING MY LEMON IS NOT AN OPTION AT THIS POINT.
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE I GET A "SERVICE AIRBAGS" WARNING. I PUSH THE DASH BUTTON THAT CLEARS THE DISPLAY AND IT DOES NOT COME BACK ON. ONLY WHEN I AM STATIONARY AND HAVE JUST STARTED THE ENGINE. I MENTIONED IT TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID, "OH, THAT COULD BE EXPENSIVE." I HAVE YET TO GET IT SERVICED BECAUSE OTHERS HAVE STATED THE PROBLEM AND SPENT LOTS OF MONEY TO NO AVAIL. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT AND COULD BE LIFE THREATENING IF EVER INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE 159,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND THE WARNING BEGAN IN THE LAST 18 MONTHS.
TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE GM GARAGE FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND TO REPORT A SQUEAK IN THE FRONT END. TOLD ME THAT THE POWER STEERING BOX WAS SHOT AND HAS BEEN FOR SOME TIME AS THE LIQUID WAS EMPTY. KNOWING THE VEHICLE'S HISTORY I SAID OH REALLY, MY PARENTS HAD THE VEHICLE IN HERE YEARS AGO RE: THE WHINING WHEN THEY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THEY HAD SAID THAT WAS NORMAL. THAT WAS BACK IN 2012. NOW I HAVE TO PAY $1600 TO GET IT FIXED. HOW CONVENIENT NOW THAT IT IS OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD AS IT IS A 10 HOUR JOB. WHEN I ASKED THE DEALER IF THEY HAVE HEARD OF SUCH COMPLAINTS RE: THE STEERING THEY SAID NO. THEN I TOLD HIM ABOUT MY FRIEND WHO OWNS A CHEVY TRAVERESE AND THEY HAD THEIR POWER STEERING BOX REPLACED TWO YEARS AGO. THEY SERVICE PERSON JUST ACTED LIKE OH WELL.

CAN HAPPEN AT ANY MILEAGE AND WITHOUT WARNING OTHER THAN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. TIMING CHAINS STRETCH CAUSING ENGINE TO BE OUT OF SYNC AND EVENTUALLY ENGINE DAMAGE/FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. MINIMUM COST OF REPAIR IS $2500+ AS ENGINE HAS TO BE REMOVED TO DO THE REPAIR. GM HAS KNOWLEDGE OF THE PROBLEM AND EVEN ISSUED EXTENDED SPECIAL WARRANTIES TO COVER THE PROBLEM ON 2007-2009 MODELS ONLY EVEN THOUGH 2010 AND NEWER MODELS HAVE SAME PROBLEM WITH SAME ENGINE. ANY INTERNET SEARCH WILL YIELD HUNDREDS OF OTHER OWNERS WITH SAME ISSUE.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED NO SOLUTION CONCERNING THE REMEDY AND DEALER REPAIRS.
