FAULTY FUEL GAUGE ON 2005 GMC ENVOY, SLT. EVERYTIME THE TANK IS FILLED, THE GAUGE IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER READS EMPTY - SOMETIMES IT WILL RISE TO ABOUT AN EIGHTH OF A TANK, BUT SHORTLY THEREAFTER, IT WILL GO RIGHT BACK TO EMPTY. THIS PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED FOR OVER A YEAR NOW. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PARTICIPANTS ON ONLINE FORUMS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL VARIOUS GM BRANDS. THE AVERAGE COST TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM IS WELL OVER $500.00. THE PROBLEM NOT ONLY AFFECTS RECENT MODEL VEHICLES BUT, IT APPEARS TO AFFECT EARLIER GM MODEL VEHICLES AS WELL, SOME AS OLD AS 1998. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN DEFECT, AS MANY PEOPLE HAVE TAKEN THEIR VEHICLES TO MECHANICS AND/OR THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE PROBLEM ADDRESSED. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM NOR PROVIDE A RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. THE SITUATION CAN MANIFEST INTO A MORE SEVER PROBLEM SHOULD SOMEONE HAPPEN TO RUN OUT OF GAS ON THE HIGHWAY DUE TO A MISCALCULATION OF FUEL CONSUMPTION OR, EVEN ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENTATION FAILURE [WHICH IS ALSO HAPPENING WHEN ATTEMPTING TO READ HOW MANY MILES ONE HAS DRIVEN]. *TR
FUEL GAUGE READINGS ARE INACCURATE, DEALER WANTS TO REPLACE THE GAUGING SYSTEM IN THE TANK AT CONSUMERS COST. I BELIEVE IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE A WARRANTIED ITEM. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 ENVOY THAT I PURCHASED LESS THAN A YEAR AGO FROM A LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. ON THE DAY OF THE FAILURE, I DID NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO WORK. WHEN I RETURNED HOME, I FOUND THAT THE BACK TRUNK HATCH HAD SOMEHOW OPENED ON ITS OWN, CAUSING IT TO SEPARATE FROM THE GLASS. THE TRUNK HATCH WAS BROKEN IN SUCH A MANNER THAT IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BROUGHT ON BY ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL OR OBJECT. AFTER NOTICING THIS DEFECT, I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP. THE AUTOMOBILE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY WHERE THEY FILED A CLAIM WITH THE WARRANTY COMPANY. HOWEVER, THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN DECIDED THAT THE STRUTS WERE NOT THE CAUSE OF THE DEFECT AND WORKED PROPERLY AND COULD NOT HYPOTHESIS ON WHY THIS FAILURE HAD OCCURRED. HE REPORTED THIS TO THE WARRANTY COMPANY WHO THUS DENIED THE CLAIM BECAUSE THEY DO NOT COVER THE GLASS ON THE AUTOMOBILE. I WAS DISPLEASED WITH THE OUTCOME AND CONTACTED BOTH THE WARRANTY COMPANY AND THE GMC HEADQUARTERS MYSELF, HOPING THAT THIS INITIATIVE WOULD RESOLVE THE SITUATION. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THERE IS SOME TYPE OF DEFECT THAT CAUSED THE HATCH TO OPEN ON ITS OWN. THE COMPANY WILL ONLY REPLACE THE STRUTS AND ARE REQUIRING ME TO PAY FOR THE GLASS REPLACEMENT AND LABOR FOR SOMETHING THAT I NEITHER CAUSED NOR COULD HAVE PREVENTED. *TR
HELLO, I PURCHASED A 2005 ENVOY DENALI LAST YEAR. RIGHT AFTER I GOT THE VEHICLE THE FUEL LEVELING SENSOR CAME ON (I THINK 1 OF EVERY 2 GET THIS PROBLEM AND STILL NO RECALL). I LET IT GO BUT NOW ITS TIME FOR INSPECTION! WELL WITH THE LIGHT ON IT CANNOT BE INSPECTED AND THEY ARE CHARGING ME WITH WHAT THEY SAID COULD BE WELL OVER $700. I WISH THEY WOULD STAND BY THERE PRODUCT AND HAVE A RECALL OF THIS BECAUSE ITS REALLY A HUGE PROBLEM IF I'VE EVER SEEN ONE. I AM NOT SAYING THIS JUST BECAUSE I HAVE THIS PROBLEM BUT MANY MANY PEOPLE DO. DO A EBAY LIST FOR AN ENVOY AND I GUARANTEE YOU THAT YOU'LL SEE ALMOST HALF IF THEY SHOW YOU THE DASH BOARD HAS THIS PROBLEM. I DID NOTHING WRONG BUT FILL UP MY TANK AND I GOT THIS ERROR. PROB #1 DRIVING DOWN STREET REAR DOOR CAME OPEN AND WOULDN'T CLOSE. ALREADY REPLACED THE DOOR LATCH ON PASS REAR DOOR. IF I HAD CHILDREN IN THE CAR THIS WOULD'VE BEEN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. TALKING TO OTHERS THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. PROBLEM #2 FUEL GAUGE JUST STOP WORKING, LOW FUEL LIGHT BEEPS CONSTANTLY. NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN CAR. COST TO REPLACE OVER $500! *TR
FUEL GAUGE ERRATIC AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED. KNEW IT WOULD BE EXPENSIVE REPAIR. LIVED ON RESETTING TRIP ODOMETER EVERY 200 MILES AND WOULD FILL UP. THIS INCONVENIENCE LASTED TWO YEARS UNTIL CONSTANT AUDIO AND VISUAL LOW FUEL SIGNALS. ENDED UP PAYING $450 FOR REPAIR. COMPLETELY CONFIDENT THAT GM KNEW THE ORIGINAL WAS FAULTY. *TR
FUEL SYSTEM ISSUES FOR 2005 GMC ENVOY. FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY IN LATE 2008. READS EMPTY ALL THE TIME REGARDLESS OF FUEL LEVEL. TODAY, 03/03/09, I EXPERIENCED A DEGRADED POWER SYMPTOM (AND WARNING ON THE DASH) RELATED TO THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED TO CONTINUE DRIVING. *TR
I BOUGHT A USED 2005 GMC ENVOY XL A YEAR AGO AND AFTER THREE MONTHS OF OWNING IT THE SPEEDOMETER HAS QUIT ON ME WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I DRIVE ON THE INTERSTATE EVERYDAY TO GO TO SCHOOL AND NEVER KNOW WHAT SPEED I AM ACTUALLY TRAVELING. AT STOP SIGNS MY CAR HAS JUMPED FORWARD ON ME SEVERAL TIMES. LATELY THE CAR HAS BEEN SHUTTING OFF FOR NO REASON. MY HUSBAND IS A MECHANIC AND CAN NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. WE CONTACTED A GM DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR AND THE CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS COME IN WITH THIS PROBLEM ALL THE TIME. WE WERE TOLD IT WOULD COST US BETWEEN TWO AND THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS TO FIX IT. WE CAN'T AFFORD THAT KIND OF MONEY TO FIX SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE FIXED BY GENERAL MOTORS. IT'S THEIR DEFECT! SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I HAVE TO DEAL WITH EVERYDAY WHILE DRIVING MY TWO KIDS AROUND. *TR
OPENING THE HATCH ON MY 2005 ENVOY XLS APPROX 1 TIME PER DAY CAUSED THE PISTONS AND THE BALLASTS TO GO BAD. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD CONTINUAL PROBLEMS WITH THE BACK DOOR HANDLES AND INTERIOR MECHANISMS FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS, WITH REPEATED TRIPS TO THE DEALER TO FIX THE PROBLEM. STILL NOT FIXED. *TR
POWER STEERING HOSE RUPTURED ON MY WIFE'S 2005 GMC ENVOY THANKFULLY JUST AS SHE WAS ENTERING OUR DRIVEWAY. I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE HOSE ASSEMBLY AS THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 48,000 MI ON IT AND IN 40+ YEARS OF DRIVING HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE ROADWAY I BELIEVE IT MAY HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS IT RESULTED IN ALMOST TOTAL LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. THE DEALER WAS EXCELLENT WITH THE REPAIR, BUT GM WAS UNWILLING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEFECT. I FIND IT STRANGE THAT THE 06 MDL YEAR HAD POWER STEERING HOSE PROBLEMS AND A RECALL BUT THIS MDL YEAR WAS NOT INCLUDED,AS IT BURST IN THE EXACT WAY DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. I FEEL THIS NEEDS INVESTIGATING AS THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED JUNE 2005 AND THE RECALL WAS DATED OCT 2005. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED. THE CONTACT RAN OUT OF GAS WHILE THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED INACCURATELY THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS HALF FULL BUT WAS ACTUALLY EMPTY. THE CONTACTS MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND ADVISED THAT THE TANK AND SENSOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
IN 2008, OUR VEHICLE'S GAS GAUGE WOULD FLUCTUATE ON THE AMOUNT OF GAS. WE WOULD FILL IT UP AND THE GAUGE WOULD SHOW FULL BUT AS SOON AS WE WOULD START DRIVING WOULD DROP DOWN TO EMPTY AND EVENTUALLY AS OF TODAY WHEN WE FILL OUT VEHICLE UP ALL THE WAY, THE GUAGE ONLY SHOWS LESS THAN A 1/4 FULL THEN DROPS TO EMPTY. AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK AND THE GAUGE SHOWING FULL AND DROPPING TO 1/4 FULL THEN I RAN OUT OF GAS WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY, CAUSING MY GMC ENVOY TO SHUT DOWN AND MY STEERING WHEEL TO LOCK UP, LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO STEER OFF TO THE SHOULDER WITH MUCH FORCE TO THE WHEEL. AS OF TODAY, OUR GAUGE NO LONGER RISES TO SHOW ANY SORT OF AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE TANK. WE USE THE GAS USED ON THE DASH TO KEEP TRACK OR MILEAGE TO TRACK WHEN WE NEED TO FILL UP AND MAKE SURE WE DON'T GET DOWN TO CLOSE TO EMPTY. WE HAVE NOT FIXED THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE WE HAVE READ SO MANY COMPLAINTS THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL MADE BY GMC. I HAVE CALLED GMC AND ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR OUR VEHICLE AND TO MY SURPRISE NONE! I BELIEVE GMC NEEDS TO CORRECT THEIR MANUFACTURER DEFECT! *TR
I STARTED THE VEHICLE ONE DAY AND THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED TO WORK. IT IS A CONTINUOUS FAIL. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO REPAIR IT. COST OF PART IS APPROXIMATELY $280 AT LOCAL NAPA STORE. *TR
REAR GLASS DOOR CAME UNGLUED AT HINGES DAMAGING THE STRUTS AND ALMOST FALLING ON MY HEAD. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND REPLACING THE GLASS DOOR WAS SUGGESTED AT $1500.00. REPAIRING ATTEMPTED USING GLUE AND GLASS DOOR CAME LOOSE AGAIN. IT WAS A NEAR MISS, COULD BECOME A FATALITY. MAIN REAR DOOR STRUTS WERE DAMAGE AND THE DOOR ALMOST HIT ME AGAIN. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 GMC ENVOY I6 THAT I PURCHASED IN MARCH 2005. NOVEMBER OF 2006 WE REPLACED THE FUEL SENSOR THAT IS UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO WHEN I WOULD FILL UP THE GAS TANK THE GAUGE WOULD GO TO EMPTY AND WOULD EVENTUALLY MAKE IT TO FULL AFTER ABOUT 100 MILES DRIVEN. NOW A YEAR AND A HALF LATER THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING AND THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS CONFIRMED IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND WOULD COST AROUND $1100 TO FIX THE ISSUE THAT SHOULD HAVE ALREADY OF BEEN FIXED THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT IN. *TR
EMISSIONS LIGHT WOULD COME ON FOR A DAY OR TWO AND THEN GO OFF FOR WEEKS. WHEN HAVING VEHICLE 50,000 MILE SERVICE THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER AND GOT BOTH A P0128 BAD THERMOSTAT CODE AND A P0463 FAN CLUTCH FAILURE CODE. THIS CARE IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE PROBLEMS. THE THERMOSTAT WAS REPLACES AS WELL AS THE FAN CLUTCH AT GREAT EXPENSE AS THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE THERMOSTAT OR THE FLUSH OF THE COOLANT SYSTEM THAT WENT ALONG WITH REPLACING SAID THERMOSTAT. *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS A SEVERE HESITATION WHEN THE ENGINE IS UNDER A LOAD. THIS HAS BEEN CALLED A SURGE BY ONE MECHANIC. HAD TRUCK 2 MONTHS BOUGHT IT USED WITH 29,000 MILES IT'S A GMC ENVOY. WHILE GOING UP HILLS ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH, THE ENGINES STARTS TO MISS/SURGE/HESITATE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE SPEED AND RPM'S. AS YOU SLOWLY PRESS THE GAS PEDAL TO GAIN SPEED THE ENGINE MISSES MORE. I HAD THIS TRUCK TO THE DEALER 6 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. THEY CHANGED THE FUEL MODULE ON THE ENGINE THEN REBUILT THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS TOLD BY THEM IT'S THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
AT APPROXIMATELY 50,000 MILES, THE FUEL SENDING UNIT ON MY 05 GMC ENVOY XL QUIT WORKING. THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATOR WILL FLUCTUATE BUT MOSTLY READS EMPTY AND EMITS LOW FUEL WARNING BUZZER EVEN AFTER I HAVE FILLED THE GAS TANK. I SPOKE TO A SERVICE WRITER AT A LOCAL DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE PROBLEM. HIS RESPONSE WAS THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT WOULD LOOK AT MY VEHICLE FOR ABOUT $300.00-NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM-JUST DIAGNOSE IT. HE ALSO SAID THAT I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE TOO MUCH.*TR

DEALER SERVICE ADVISOR STATED PROBLEM IS THE FUEL SENSOR SUPPRESSOR LOCATED IN THE FUEL TANK, STATES TANK MUST BE DROPPED DOWN DURING REPAIR, RECOMMENDED SHOULD REPLACE FUEL PUMP NOW SINCE TANK WAS ACCESSIBLE GOOD OPPORTUNITY IN REPLACING ALSO THIS ITEM AND I WOULD BE COVERED WITH LIFETIME WARRANTY IN FUTURE IF NEED OF REPAIR. FUEL PUMP PRICE $480.00. I DECLINED REPAIR ONLY FUEL SENSOR/SUPPRESSOR, CHECK SPEEDOMETER GAGE. SERVICE ADVISOR STATED THIS ITEM WAS NOT RECALLED OR COVERED, THIS FINANCIALLY SETS ME BACK NOW SINCE ON A SET INCOME.THIS BECAUSE MYSELF A DISABLED VIETNAM VETERAN. HOPE NO MORE PROBLEMS WOULD BE FOUND ON MY VEHICLE THESE. THIS PART ALONE WOULD COST $380.00 NOT INCLUDING REPAIR CHARGES. I OWN A CLASSIC ORIGINAL 1947 PONTIAC 8 FLATHEAD, 4 DOOR STREAMLINER.TODAY JUST DISAPPOINTED WITH THESE ISSUES MAY HAVE RESULTED TO ACCIDENTS LEADING TO BODILY INJURIES, OR FATALITIES. COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED WITH THIS MODEL AMONG OTHER ISSUES.& CONCERNS. PURCHASED A USED (HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN GMC EXEC'S) 2005 GMC ENVOY IN SEPTEMBER 2005. SINCE JANUARY 2007 WE HAVE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS SUCH AS THE HEADLIGHTS DIMMING ON AND OFF WHILE WE'RE DRIVING, THE AIRBAG SENSOR SAYING OFF EVEN WHEN MY WIFE IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, AND THE DRIVER SIDE POWER SEAT WOULD MOVE UP, BUT WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD. HOWEVER, THE BIGGEST PROBLEM AND SAFETY ISSUE HAS BEEN THE VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING IT. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHERE WE HAVE BEEN ON BACK ROADS, RUSH-HOUR FREEWAY TRAFFIC, ETC. AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF, LOST ALL POWER INCLUDING POWER STEERING AND YOU CAN'T PUMP THE BRAKES-YOU HAVE ONE SHOT TO HIT THE BRAKES. LAST THURSDAY, MARCH 6, 2008 THIS HAPPENED TO US 5 TIMES IN ONE DAY!! MY WIFE WAS ON HER WAY HOME FROM A JOB INTERVIEW AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF ON HER 3 TIMES. THEN, IT SHUT OFF ON HER AGAIN WHEN SHE WAS DRIVING TO PICK ME UP FROM WORK. ON OUR WAY HOME IT SHUT OFF FOR THE 5TH TIME THAT DAY AND IT DID IT IN THE MIDDLE OF HEAVY, RUSH-HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE RAILROAD TRACKS! THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE 866-790-5600 X 32380 COMPLAINT FILE 71-585106455; ROBERT JOHNSON STATED THAT THE SERVICE MANAGER OF THE REPAIRING DEALER IN JULY 2006, PREMIER IN RITTMAN, OHIO WOULD NOT REPLACE LOCKS BECAUSE PARTS BEYOND 12 MONTH WARRANTY. I EXPLAINED THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND EXPLAINED THE DANGER OF DEFECTIVE LOCKS; ROBERT JOHNSON STATED THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE HE WOULD DO. ASIDE FROM THE POOR QUALITY, LOCKS ARE CRUCIAL TO VEHICLE SAFETY, AND LOCKS ON A 2005 VEHICLE SHOULD NOT FAIL IN 2006 AND 2007. ISSUES "FUEL LEVEL LOW" WARNING AFTER REFUELING AND FOR NEXT 3 TO 4 TIMES VEHICLE IS STARTED HEADLIGHTS DIM BRIEFLY WHEN ACCELERATOR IS RELEASED. FREQUENT NEED TO REPLACE EXTERIOR LAMPS THE PROBLEMS FIRST MANIFEST IN THE NEED TO REPEATEDLY CHANGE BRAKE AND TAILLIGHT BULBS, AND THE DIMMING OF THE HEADLIGHTS, WHICH CONTINUES. THEN, SPORADICALLY, THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED FUNCTIONING, OR ONLY REGISTERED A FRACTION OF THE SPEED THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING. AFTER THAT, AT START UP, THE "FUEL LEVEL LOW" WARNING, WHICH ACTIVATES WHEN THE VEHICLE DETERMINES IT HAS FUEL TO TRAVEL 40 ADDITIONAL MILES, STARTED TO CHIME WHEN THERE WAS MORE THAN ONE-HALF TANK OF FUEL. THE WARNING ALSO NOW ISSUES WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS REFUELED. THE POTENTIAL FAILURE OF THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING SYSTEM PRESENTS A CLEAR HAZARD TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE AND OTHERS - THE DRIVER WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SEE WHERE HE IS GOING, AND OTHER DRIVERS WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SEE THE VEHICLE HEADING TOWARD THEM. THE FUEL SYSTEM ISSUES COULD LEAD TO UNEXPECTEDLY RUNNING OUT OF FUEL, CREATING THE POTENTIAL FOR A DISABLED VEHICLE OR ITS DRIVER BEING HIT BY ANOTHER. IN ADDITION, DEPENDING ON THE CAUSE OF THE MALFUNCTION, THE VEHICLE COULD BE SUSCEPTIBLE TO FIRE. WITHOUT A FUNCTIONING SPEEDOMETER, THE DRIVER CAN EASILY TRAVEL TOO FAST FOR CONDITIONS, OR ENDANGER HIMSELF AND OTHERS IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE. CURRENTLY, UNTIL THE SPORADIC PROBLEMS BECOME REGULAR, THE GARAGE WILL NOT FIX THE VEHICLE. *TR

ONE FELLOW SAID HE TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. RECALL - AND NOW THE PROBLEMS WITH THE GAS GAUGE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. MY HUSBAND WAS LAID OFF FROM HIS JOB AND WE CAN'T EVEN AFFORD THE 1/2 THAT GM IS OFFERING TO FIX THE THING IN THEIR RECALL. IF THEY KNEW IT WAS A FAILURE OF THEIR EQUIPMENT WHY ARE THEY NOT PAYING THE ENTIRE AMOUNT? *TR

MY 2005 GMC ENVOY CONTINUES TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM OVER AND OVER. I'M TAKING IT IN AGAIN TODAY FOR THE 4TH TIME. IT LOSES POWER GOING UP HILLS. THEY SAID IT WAS THE OXYGEN SENSOR, AND CARBON BUILD UP ON THE FUEL SOLENOID. ONCE AGAIN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THIS TIME I HAD ONSTAR DO A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS A POWER TRAIN SYSTEM MALFUNCTION. WHICH IS THE PART OF THE ENGINE SYSTEM THAT PROVIDES POWER TO MOVE THE VEHICLE. OBVIOUSLY THIS HAS BEEN THE PROBLEM ALL ALONG THAT THE DEALERSHIP CAN NOT SEEM TO FIX. OF COURSE THE GAS MILEAGE IS TERRIBLE DUE TO THIS SITUATION, AND WITH GAS PRICES THE WAY THEY ARE IT'S KILLING ME. *JB

SAID IT COULD BE THIS OR THAT, BUT OUT OF WARRANTY AT MY EXPENSE. I TOLD THEM I WOULD PAY FOR IT, BUT IF IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM I WOULD NOT. THEY REFUSED TO WORK FURTHER ON IT. *TR
RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY RAN OUT ON MY 05 GMC ENVOY THE GAS GAUGE STARTED BEEPING WHEN YOU WOULD FILL UP THE TANK. THEN IT STARTED TO NOT READ FULL WHEN IT WAS FILLED. NOW IT NEVER READS FULL AND WHEN THE TANK IS HALF EMPTY THE LIGHT WILL COME ON. IT WILL ALWAYS BEEP WHEN I FIRST START IT. THIS UNIT SHOULD NOT HAVE WENT OUT AFTER 36,000 MILES. THIS IS A FAULTY UNIT AND I BELIEVE THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD REPLACE IT. IF I WAS TO REPLACE IT MYSELF IT WOULD COST ME OVER $500.00 . BOUGHT MY 05 ENVOY XL WITH ABOUT 55,000 MILES SINCE THEN THE FUEL GAUGE READS EMPTY WHEN ITS FULL. THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE IS MAXED OUT BUT IT WILL WORK NORMAL EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW FUEL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHEN THE GAS TANK WAS FULL. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FLOAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
OUR 2005 ENVOY HAD A GAS GAUGE MALFUNCTION AROUND 2 TO 3 YEARS AFTER WE BOUGHT IT AS BRAND NEW. GOOD THING IT WAS STILL COVERED BY OUR INSURANCE BUT AFTER A YEAR AND A HALF, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED, AND IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE INSURANCE ANYMORE SINCE IT'S ALREADY PASS 3 YEARS. HAVING IT FIXED IS QUITE COSTLY. I JUST RECENTLY FOUND OUT THAT THERE WERE 285 PEOPLE WHO COMPLAINED ON THE SAME PROBLEM. I DO HOPE THAT GMC WILL DO A RECALL ON 2005 GMC ENVOYS. *TR
