2005 GMC ENVOY GAS GAUGE DOES NOT WORK. CAR HAD 42000 MILES WHEN IT QUIT. CAR NOW HAS 50200 MILES ON IT. GAS GAUGE READS EMPTY AND SOMETIMES WILL FLOAT JUST ABOVE EMPTY EVEN WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS. FUEL LEVEL SENSOR, WHEN FILLING TANK, GAUGE GOES TO EMPTY, FUEL GAUGE IS UNRELIABLE, I'M AFRAID OF RUNNING OUT OF GAS ON THE FREEWAY IN TRAFFIC. *TR
FUEL LEVEL SENSOR, WHEN FILLING TANK, GUAGE GOES TO EMPTY, FUEL GAUGE IS UNRELIABLE, I'M AFRAID OF RUNNING OUT OF GAS ON THE FREEWAY IN TRAFFIC.
INACCURATE FUEL GAUGE READING. CAR CAN RUN OUT OF GAS UNLESS CAREFULLY MONITORED BY OPERATOR. GAUGE BECAME FAULTY WITH TIME WHEN CAR WAS 3.5 YEARS OLD. AT FIRST WHEN TANK WAS FILLED, THE EMPTY LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THEN SUDDENLY REGISTER AS FULL AFTER APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES OF OPERATION. GAUGE NOW ONLY REGISTERS 1/4TH TANK OR NOT AT ALL AFTER TANK IS FILLED. WITHOUT CAREFUL WATCH, THE CAR COULD RUN OUT OF GAS ON A HIGHWAY AND BE STRUCK OR CAUSE SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS. DEALER ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIR = $650.00 AND STATED THAT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL. I DO NOT WISH TO PAY THIS EXORBITANT AMOUNT FOR REPAIR. IT APPEARS FROM MY RESEARCH THAT THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND RAMPANT WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. *TR
A FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE THE GMC DEALER REPLACE THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE FLUCTUATES WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP SENSOR FAILED AND THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT SHE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS SINCE THERE WERE NO RECALLS. 2005 GMC ENVOY INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER PROMBLEMS GAS GAGE PPROBLEM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE LOW FUEL LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT DROVE TO A GAS STATION TO FILL UP THE TANK; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY TAKE $10 WORTH OF FUEL. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
2005 GMC ENVOY HAS ERRATIC SPEEDOMETER. NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WHEN SPEEDOMETER KEEPS GETTING STUCK. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 GMC ENVOY THAT IS HAVING A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE GAS GAUGE AND THE SENDER UNIT. APPARENTLY NUMEROUS CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE ON THEIR GM SUVS AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL SO CUSTOMERS ARE HAVING TO FOOT THE BILL FOR THE MANUFACTURERS FAULTY WORKMANSHIP. *TR
FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS WHEN I TURN ON MY TRUCK THE AIRBAG LIGHT TURNS ON AND STAYS ON FOR A FEW HOURS STATING THAT IT NEEDS SERVICE. IT HAPPENS EVERY FEW WEEKS AND IT CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS. IF I WERE TO BE INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT THE AIR BAGS MAY OR MAY NOT DEPLOY. I HAD TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND THEY SAID IT WAS OK, THAT I MUST OF PASSED A BUMP TOO FAST CAUSING IT TO TURN ON, BUT IT HAS BEEN QUITE A WHILE AND IT CONTINUES TO DO THE SAME THING. I GUARANTEE NO BUMP WOULD CAUSE A AIR BAG LIGHT TO TURN ON AND MALFUNCTION. AS IF THAT WAS NOT ENOUGH OF A PROBLEM IN THE BEGINNING OF THIS MONTH (MARCH) I STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE GAS GAUGE. AT FIRST WHEN I WOULD FILL IT UP IT WOULD READ EMPTY AND WOULD REGISTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES LATER TO THE CORRECT LEVEL. NOW IT DOESN'T REGISTER AT ALL, IT JUST MOVES FROM SIDE TO SIDE, STATES EMPTY WHEN I FILL UP AND EVERYMORNING WHEN I TURN THE TRUCK ON AND SAYS I HAVE A QUARTER TANK THERE AFTER. WHAT SAD IS THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS PROBLEM AND IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. THIS CAN BE A SAFETY HAZARD AND CAUSES DISTRACTIONS WHEN DRIVING. *TR
FUEL PUMP NOT READING GASOLINE LEVELS CAUSING THE GAUGE IN THE DASH NOT TO WORK AND BE ON EMPTY AT ALL TIMES. FUEL LIGHT ALSO STAYS ON. *TR
WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL NOT STOP WIPING WHEN CONTROL IS MOVED TO STOP. MUST STOP VEHICLE, TURN IGNITION OFF IN ORDER TO TURN THE WIPERS OFF. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY. THE CONTACT STATED SHE HAD FUELED THE VEHICLE MOMENTS BEFORE. THE CONTACT STATED THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED FUNCTIONING. WHILE PARKED, THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED A READING OF 135 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER FOR THE FUEL GAUGE TO READ PROPERLY. THE FUEL GAUGE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. GAS GAUGE AND SPEEDOMETER NO LONGER WORK. NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE CAR. *KB
BOTH OF MY WINDOWS WHICH SLIDE DOWN WITH THE PUSH OF A BUTTON DO NOT WORK! THEY HAVE BOTH BUSTED. ONE IS STUCK DOWN. THE OTHER I HAVE TO SHOVE UP BECAUSE WHILE DRIVING FROM THE VIBRATIONS IT FALLS. VERY UNSAFE. THEY BOTH STOPPED WORK WHILE I WAS OPERATING THEM BY PUSHING THE BUTTON FOR THEM TO SLIDE DOWN. I HAVE NOT REPLACED THEM YET. ITS VERY COSTLY. ITS HARD TO BELIEVE NO RECALL HAS BEEN DONE. I HAVE FOUND MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS. *TR
PURCHASED THE 2005 GMC ENVOY XUV USED IN 2009 WITH 41000 MILES. WITHIN 3 MONTHS THE ENVOY STARTED HAVING REAR DOOR LATCH FAILURES. THE REAR DOOR AND GLASS CAN BE OPENED IN A TRADITIONAL SIDE DOOR MODE OR A TRUCK BED MODE. FREQUENTLY THE ELECTRONIC LATCHES THAT OPERATE TO LET THE DOOR FUNCTION IN EITHER WAY WOULD FAIL. THE ENVOY HAS BEEN IN SEVERAL TIMES OVER THREE YEARS TO HAVE ALL THE LATCHES REPAIRED AND OR REPLACED. EACH LATCH HAS BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN THE LATCHES FAIL, AND THEY HAVE FAILED IN A CONFIGURATION THAT WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR IN A SIDE DOOR WAY, THREE LATCHES LET LOSE AND THE DOOR FELL OPEN WITH ONLY ONE LATCH HOLING THE REAR DOOR ON. I WAS FORCED TO HAVE TO LIFT THE DOOR BACK INTO THE SLOTS WHERE THE DOOR PEGS LOCK INTO THE LATCHES. ONE TIME THREE LATCHES FAILED AND I HAD TO USE BUNGEE CORDS TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED SO THAT I COULD DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE LATCHES REPLACED. THE DEALER CHARGES ME 50 DOLLARS PER VISIT PER THE WARRANTY, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE HAS TO GO IN AT LEAST 3 TIMES A YEAR TO HAVE THE LATCHED LOOKED AT AND REPAIRED OR REPLACED. THEY REPLACE THE FIXED LATCHES AT NO COST BUT I STILL GET CHARGED 50 DOLLARS FOR THE VISIT. THE WARRANTY IS SOON TO BE OFF THIS VEHICLE. ALSO THE GAS GAUGE FAILED TO OPERATE CORRECTLY WITHIN MONTHS OF OWNING THE ENVOY. THE GAS GAUGE WOULD SHOW MORE FUEL THEN WHAT I HAD, OR SHOW NO FUEL WHATSOEVER EVEN THOUGH I HAD JUST FILLED THE GAS TANK UP. THE GAUGE NEEDLE WOULD BOUNCE BACK AND FORTH ALL THE TIME OR GET STUCK FULL OR EMPTY AS WELL. IT WAS FOUND THAT THERE WAS A BAD FUEL LEVEL SENSOR IN THE TANK. IT WAS REPLACED. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT PINIONS OF THE ENVOY TWICE DURING THE THREE YEARS I HAVE OWNED IT BECAUSE THEY WERE LEAKING. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO HAVE THE DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER OVERHAULED BECAUSE THE FRONT DIFFERENTIALS WERE BOTH LEAKING. THESE PINIONS AND DIFFERENTIAL REPAIRS WERE THREE DIFFERENT VISITS TO THE DEALER, NOT AT ONCE. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2005 GMC ENVOY XL STARTED ACTING ERRATICALLY AND AT ANY TIME CAN SHOW THAT I'M DOING 70 WHEN I AM STOPPED, BE PEGGED, OR SOMETIMES IT WORKS. I HAVE TO USE MY GPS TO DETERMINE MY SPEED. I TOOK IT TO A GM DEALER TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THIS ISSUE BECAUSE I HAD HEARD THAT THERE WAS FOR VEHICLES UP TO 7 YEARS OLD OR UP TO 70,000 MILES. THE DEALER TOLD ME THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE AND THAT IT WOULD COST $400 TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAUGE CLUSTER. *TR
AT 65,000 MILES THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. GAUGE DROPPED TO EMPTY IMMEDIATELY AFTER A FILL AND HAS SINCE REMAINED THERE. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AS I WAS TOLD BY THE LOCAL GMC DEALER IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER PAST FUEL GAUGE RECALLS, AND I REFUSE TO REWARD GMC FOR SUPPLYING FAULTY PRODUCT BY PAYING THE QUOTED $800-$1000 TO REPLACE IT. THE SAFETY CONSEQUENCES OF RUNNING OUT OF FUEL ARE EXTENSIVE, FROM SLOWING AND BEING REAR ENDED TO BEING HIT ALONGSIDE THE ROAD WHILE GOING FOR GAS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED SEVERAL FAILURES WITH THE FUEL GAUGE IN HER VEHICLE. AFTER FILLING UP THE VEHICLE WITH GASOLINE, THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EMPTY. AFTER DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE FUEL GAUGE BEGAN TO DISPLAY THE CORRECT FUEL LEVEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYS INCORRECT INFORMATION DURING INNER CITY DRIVING. HOWEVER, ONCE ON THE INTERSTATE, THE GAUGE OPERATES NORMALLY AFTER DRIVING FOR A COUPLE OF MILES. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,387.
FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTION. I FILLED THE TANK OF MY VEHICLE, 2005 GMC ENVOY XL, I RAN OUT OF GAS GOING UP AN INCLINED LEVEL OF A PARKING GARAGE TWO STORIES UNDERGROUND DURING RUSH HOUR IN D.C. I COULD HAVE EASILY LET MY SUV RUN INTO THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME BUT, I WAS FORTUNATE TO REACT QUICKLY AND AVOID HARM'S WAY. THE PROBLEM WITH GAUGE IS IT WILL READ FULL WHEN EMPTY AT TIMES AND; SHORTLY THEREAFTER, YOU HAVE TOTAL FAILURE OF THE GAUGE - IT WILL NO LONGER PROPERLY READ OR REGISTER HOW MUCH GAS ONE HAS IN THEIR FUEL TANK. I THOUGHT THAT THIS MIGHT BE A LIMITED PROBLEM TO A FEW SUVS MANUFACTURED BY GMC BUT, AFTER DOING RESEARCH OF SEVERAL CAR FORUMS INTERNET SITES I DISCOVERED THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE PURCHASED A GM WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM - INCLUDING SOME VEHICLES OLDER THAN THE YEAR 2000. WHAT RECOURSE DO WE AS CONSUMERS HAVE , IF ANY? THE POSSIBILITY OIF DAMAGE OR A VEHICLE CRASH WAS AVOIDED, AS I REACTED QUICKLY TO AVOID NEAR-DISASTER WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE , OR EVEN, WORSE, HITTING A NATURAL GAS PIPE IN THE PARKING GARAGE. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 GMC ENVOY THAT HAS JUST STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE FUEL GAUGE. I HAVE FILLED THE GAS TANK AND THE GAUGE READS EMPTY WITH THE FUEL LIGHT ON. THEN 10 MINUTES LATER THE LIGHT GOES OUT AND IT READS THAT I DO HAVE FUEL. THEN A LITTLE LATER IT STARTS GOING DOWN AND READS EMPTY AGAIN. I HAVE RE-STOPPED TO GET GAS TO FIND THAT THE TANK IS FULL. THIS IS WRONG AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS ITEM. IT DRAWS THE DRIVER'S ATTENTION AWAY FROM DRIVING AND MUST HAVE CAUSED ACCIDENTS SOMEWHERE IN THE USA. *TR
GAS GAUGE DOES NOT REGISTER CORRECTLY. FIRST STARTED WHEN FILLED UP WITH GAS AND WOULD NEVER SHOW FULL TANK, ONLY 3 QUARTERS AT MOST. NOW IT DOES NOT REGISTER AT ALL. ALWAYS ON E AND LOW FUEL LIGHT ALWAYS ON. VERY ANNOYING. NOTICED THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH GMC ENVOY, TRAILBLAZER, ETC. HOW MANY SIGNATURES DOES IT TAKE FOR A RECALL? *TR
GAS GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED ON THREE OTHER GM SUV'S (1999-2005 MODEL YEARS) IN MY FAMILY. COINCIDENCE? NO WAY. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR AND ONE CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR. I HAVE NOT SEEN THIS HAPPEN ON ANY OTHER VEHICLE THAT I OR ANY MEMBER OF MY FAMILY HAS DRIVEN (VW, CHRYSLER, HONDA, SUBARU, JEEP) BUT THAT THE SAME PART HAS FAILED ON FOUR GM SUV'S IN THE SAME FAMILY TELLS ME THAT THIS IS A WIDE-SPREAD PROBLEM AND THERE IS A DEFECT IN THIS PART. *TR
FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR DOES NOT WORK, INDICATING INCORRECT LEVELS OF GAS AVAILABLE IN VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD-ON CRASH. THE CONTACT WAS SEVERELY INJURED AND THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS CRUSHED. ALL FOUR TIRES BLEW OUT AND THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO OTHER PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE AND NO MAINTENANCE WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED FROM THE SCENE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MILEAGES, SPEED, AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.
I HAVE HAD MY 05 GMC ENVOY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW AND HAVE TAKEN IT TO BE REPAIRED AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH! MY ISSUE IS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND THE HEADLIGHTS AND CONSOLE "FLASHING" AT NIGHT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND THE FIRST TIME THEY CHECKED THE BATTERY, SOME CABLES AND GAVE IT BACK TO ME SAYING THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT BACK ABOUT A MONTH LATER BECAUSE THE LIGHT WERE STILL FLASHING. THE DEALERSHIP HAD IT FOR 2 DAYS AND TOLD ME IT WAS MY ALTERNATOR. I DID NOT BELIEVE THEM AND DID NOT GET MY ALTERNATOR CHANGED ($675.00) AND MY CAR HAS BEEN STARTING AND RUNNING FINE. MY HEADLIGHTS STILL FLICKER, BUT THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT IT. I HAVE READ SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND MOST OF THEM GO THROUGH A NEW BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR AND IT STILL DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS SOMETHING GMC NEEDS TO LOOK INTO AND FIX BECAUSE IT IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
2005 GMC ENVOY; THE FUEL GAUGE HAS BEEN ACTING CRAZY LATELY, SO I DECIDED TO RESEARCH THIS MATTER ON THE INTERNET, AND HAVE BEEN FINDING MORE AND MORE INCIDENTS WHERE THE GAS GAUGE EITHER STAYS ON EMPTY OR FLUCTUATES FROM EMPTY BACK TO FULL AND EVENTUALLY STOPS WORKING. AT APPX. 46,000MILES, MY GAS GAUGE STARTED DOING THE SAME AS PREVIOUSLY STATED, GOING FROM EMPTY TO FULL, AND SPORADICALLY REPEATING THIS EVEN IF THE FUEL TANK WAS FUEL. THE FUEL GAUGE BEING AT THE EMPTY LEVEL, BUT THE TANK IS FUEL, CAUSES A CONSTANT ALARM BELL TO GO OFF EVERY 10 SECONDS OR SO, EVERYTIME YOU GET IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND THE FUEL SENSOR TO REPLACE IT, BUT IT SEEMS THAT YOU HAVE TO PURCHASE THE HOLE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY WHICH RUNS AROUND $400, AND I AM NOT GOING TO REPLACE IT, IF EVERYONE THAT HAS A GMC ENVOY OR CHEVY TRAILBLAZER ARE ALL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. FROM WHAT I GATHER, FROM MY RESEARCH, EVERYONE SEEMS TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM ON ALL FORUMS THAT I HAVE READ. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 51,000MILES ON IT RIGHT NOW, AND THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS NOW. *TR
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD "IT'S OK. FORGET IT." ON 01-09-2009 WHILE TRAVELING ON TEXAS HIGHWAY 60, I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL SET FOR 70 MPH. TRAFFIC WAS NORMAL BUT CONTINUALLY PASSED ME AS IF I WAS GOING SLOWER. I PULLED OVER AT A CONVENIENCE STORE AND PARKED THE VEHICLE. THE SPEEDOMETER REGISTERED 45 MPH IN PARK. I CONTINUED HOME GAUGING SPEED BY THE OTHER TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. ON 01-14-2009, MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE IN THE VEHICLE RETURNING FROM SCHOOL. THE SPEEDOMETER APPEARED TO BE WORKING. AT APPROXIMATELY 3:00 PM WHILE DRIVING HOME, THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS BEGAN TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THEMSELVES. AT THE SAME TIME, THE A/C WENT TO MAXIMUM HEAT AND HIGH BLOWER. MY WIFE STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND PUT IT IN PARK. THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, STRIKING MY DAUGHTER IN THE LEFT TEMPLE RESULTING IN A MILD CONCUSSION. ONSTAR NOTIFIED THE POLICE OF A COLLISION. I CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO REFERRED ME TO GMC CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE. THE AGENT TOLD ME THAT THIS KIND OF THING HAPPENS WHEN TRAVELING TOO FAST AND TURNING TOO SHARP. AN INVESTIGATOR WAS DISPATCHED TO GATHER COMPUTER INFORMATION AND DETERMINE IF THERE HAD BEEN A COLLISION. HIS RESULTS WERE THERE WAS NO COLLISION AND THE BAGS DEPLOYED PER COMMAND FROM THE VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM BASED ON THE VEHICLE TRAVELING 20 MPH AND TURNING TOO SHARP. THE VEHICLE WAS ACTUALLY TRAVELING 20 MPH ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET IN A STRAIGHT LINE. TURNING RIGHT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN GOING THROUGH A FENCE AND LEFT WOULD HAVE PUT THE VEHICLE IN A PARK. GMC REFUSED TO INVESTIGATE THE DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN THE COMPUTER AND THE DRIVER'S ACCOUNT FURTHER. I CONTACTED A LOCAL GM DEALER WHO HAS AS MUCH CONCERN ABOUT THIS INCIDENT AS I DO. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN INITIATED TO DATE AS IT IS UNCLEAR WHAT IS AT FAULT. SEVERAL GM TECHNICIANS AND SERVICE MANAGERS BELIEVE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEM BUT ARE UNABLE TO PROCEED WITHOUT APPROVAL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FUEL LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THIS INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LOW ON FUEL, BUT IN REALITY, THE VEHICLE WAS FULL OF GASOLINE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS FULL, THE GAUGE WILL DISPLAY HALF OF A TANK. WHEN HALF OF A TANK OF FUEL IS IN THE VEHICLE, THE GAUGE DISPLAYS THAT IT IS EMPTY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

PASSENGER DOORS WILL NOT OPEN, PASSENGERS COULD NOT EXIT VEHICLE AFTER A 4 HOUR RIDE. THERE IS NO SEAL TO PREVENT WATER, SALT, DEBRIS FROM ENTERING THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR AND THE DOOR LATCH MECHANISMS DURING NORMAL VEHICULAR OPERATION. 3. DOOR LATCHES WERE REPLACED. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 GMC ENVOY. I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY SHIFT LEVER; IT GOES IN PARK AND STAYS THERE FOR ABOUT THREE MINUTES BEFORE IT RELEASES THE KEY (TO BE TAKEN OUT OF THE IGNITION). WHEN I START THE TRUCK, IT WILL NOT GO INTO ANY GEAR FOR ABOUT THREE MINUTES, THEN I HEAR A CLICK WHICH THEN RELEASE THE SHIFT SO IT CAN BE MOVED INTO ANOTHER GEAR. IT BEGAN ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO AND HAS GOTTEN WORST OVER TIME. ONCE IN ANY GEAR ACCEPT PARK IT CAN BE SHIFTED TO ANOTHER GEAR WITHOUT ANY STRAIN. THE CONSEQUENCE OF THIS PROBLEM IS NOT BEING ABLE TO GET OUT THE VEHICLE WITH MY KEY ONCE IN PARK UNTIL AFTER THE LEVER CABLE "SNAPS IN PLACE." I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DO MUCH OF ANYTHING ABOUT IT THUS FAR DUE TO FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES. *TR

ALSO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON SPORADICALLY, ALTHOUGH DIAGNOSIS BY ENGINE TECH CONFIRMS NO BAD CODES ARE CAUSING THIS WARNING LIGHT TO GLOW. RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND TALKING WITH DEALERSHIPS AND MECHANICS HAVE CONFIRMED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON DEFECTIVE PART PROBLEM THAT GM HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON. HUNDREDS, PROBABLY THOUSANDS OF FRUSTRATED DRIVERS. IT EFFECTS GMC ENVOYS, CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS, AND OTHER GM MAKES IN 2004 - 2006. THANK GOODNESS TAXPAYER DOLLARS ARE KEEPING THEM AFLOAT! I HAVE OWNED MY 2005 ENVOY XL SINCE JUNE OF 2006. ONCE, I PASSED 36,000 MILES, I STARTED EXPERIENCE LOTS OF ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE. I STARTED HEARING A KNOCKING NOISE IN THE REAR WHEN I WOULD TURN ON THE AC AND THE STEERING WAS OFF SOMEWHAT. I HAD THE STEERING FIXED FOR AROUND $400 BUT THE KNOCKING WAS GOING TO COST AROUND THE SAME AMOUNT. LESS THEN 10,000 MILES LATER, THE KNOCKING NOISE IS MORE PERSISTENT AND IS RELATED TO ISSUES WITH THE FUEL PUMP. MY GAS HAND WILL MOVE TO EMPTY WHEN I FILL THE TANK UP AND WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD FOR DAYS AT A TIME. TODAY, MY KIDS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE AC NOT WORKING IN THE SECOND AND THIRD ROW SEATS. 2005 GMC ENVOY DENALI W/37,800 MILES. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE COMPLETELY STOPPED, THE VEHICLE WOULD SLIGHTLY LUNGE FORWARD AS IF GOING TO ACCELERATE ALTHOUGH THE BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. WHEN LOCAL GMC SERVICE DEPT. WAS CALLED BY OWNER TO INQUIRE ABOUT PROBLEM, SERVICE TECH SAID HE HAD NO REPORTS OF SUCH SITUATION. THE SURGE HAPPENED AGAIN ON 10/31/08 AND THERE WAS A PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE WHO ALSO EXPERIENCED THE SENSATION. ON 11/17/08 WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP, AFTER TURNING WHEELS SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT TO GO AROUND A ROAD EQUIPMENT VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT, UPON REMOVING FOOT FROM BRAKE, THE DENALI LUNGED FORWARD ENOUGH TO BUMP THE TIRE OF THE EQUIPMENT VEHICLE AND THEN IT ACCELERATED AS IF THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ACTIVATED. THERE WERE NO BRAKES WHEN AN EFFORT WAS MADE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. STEERING OF VEHICLE WAS HARD DUE TO POWER STEERING FAILURE . VEHICLE JUMPED UPON A CURB, DRIVER FORCEFULLY TURNED STEERING WHEEL TO AVOID HITTING A BRICK BUILDING AS ACCELERATION WAS STILL ONGOING. VEHICLE CRASHED THROUGH A STEEL GARAGE DOOR AND CONTINUED UNTIL IT CRASHED INTO A RETAINING COLUMN AT WHICH TIME THE MOTOR WAS TURNED OFF. THE IMPACT OF THE COLLISION COULD BE FELT UP TO THE SECOND FLOOR OF THE BUILDING. THE DRIVER WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT. THE ONSTAR SERVICES DID NOT INITIATE RESPONSE TO DRIVER DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE FRONT BUMPER OF THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE, NOR DID THE DRIVER AIRBAG DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. VEHICLE WAS TOWED AWAY FROM THE SCENE. DRIVER WAS TRANSPORTED TO HOSPITAL BY EMS FOR INJURY EVALUATION. SEVERAL WITNESSES DESCRIBED INCIDENT AS "VEHICLE OUT OF CONTROL". *TR UPDATED 10/29/10
ONE DAY MY OIL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. A FEW MONTHS LATER THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING AND EVENTUALLY EVERY GAUGE IN MY PANEL STOPPED WORKING. THIS ALL STARTED AROUND NOV OF 2008. I COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON. I CHECKED ALL FUSES, BULBS AND WIRING. NOW TWO DAYS AGO MY HEAD LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING ON LOW BEAM. NOTHING WAS FOUND TO BE THE PROBLEM. ONE DAY WHEN I FILLED MY GAS TANK UP THE GAS GAUGE STILL SHOWED THAT MY TANK WAS EMPTY.
