TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, IT STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
FILLED UP GAS TANK TO FULL, WHEN PULLING OUT OF GAS STATION, FUEL LIGHT CAME ON AND GAS GAUGE SHOWED IT WAS EMPTY. AFTER DRIVING FOR A SHORT WHILE GAUGE STARTED TO GO TO FULL. THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME I FILL UP FOR GAS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT UNDISCLOSED SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER DECLINED TO OFFER ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE FIRST DAY WE HAD THE TRUCK THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED THE WRONG SPEED AND HAS BEEN THAT WAY. IT WORKS OCCASIONALLY. THEN A WEEK LATER THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. THEY CAME BACK ON AFTER A FEW MINS. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN A FEW DAYS AGO. THE FUEL GAGE IS IN ACCURATE AS WELL. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY SAID THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BUT FOUND NO ISSUES WITH THE HEAD LIGHTS BUT THERE IS DEFINITELY AN ISSUE WITH THE HEADLIGHTS AND THAT IS VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
AFTER FILLING MY VEHICLES GAS TANK, THE GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY, AN THE LO E FUEL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT IS ENGAGED. INITIALLY, THIS ONLY HAPPENED WHEN THE FUEL LEVEL WAS ABOVE HALF OF A TANK, THEN THE LEVEL WOULD SHOW CORRECTLY FROM ONE HALF OF A TANK AND LOWER. EVENTUALLY, IT NEVER SHOWED CORRECTLY AND ALWAYS AS EMPTY WITH LOW FUEL WARNING. *TR
AT LEES THAN 1/4 TANK OF FUEL THE GAS GAUGE IS CLOSE, AFTER REFUELING, THE FUEL GAUGE GOES WAY PAST FULL AND WILL STAY LIKE THAT UNTIL FUEL IS BELOW 1/4 TANK. LAST TIME THE TRUCK TOOK 19.85 GALLONS IN A 20 GALLON TANK UNTIL IT STARTED WORKING CORRECTLY AGAIN. ONE TANK IT WORKED FINE AND NEXT FILL UP IT WAS WAY BEYOND FULL AGAIN. AT THE SAME TIME WHEN FUEL GAUGE IS WRONG, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL BE OFF. MANY TIMES FREEZING AT 35MPH WHILE TRAVELING 65MPH. AFTER MANY RESETS OF IGNITION, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL COME BACK. ALSO WHEN ALL OF THIS IS HAPPENING WITH THE SPEEDOMETER AND FUEL GAUGE, THE RADIO HAS NO AUDIO. EVERY NOW AND AGAIN, THE RADIO WILL COME BACK AND WORK ON ONE SPEAKER. MOST OF THE TIME IT IS OUT. WHEN WEATHER IS WARMER, ALL 3 FUNCTIONS SEEM TO WORK REGULARLY. BELOW 50 DEGREES, ALL MALFUNCTION. *TR
MY 2005 GMC ENVOY HAS STARTED EXPERIENCING A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER SIDE. IT STARTS APPROXIMATELY A MINUTE AFTER THE VEHICLE STARTS AND STOPS WITHIN A MINUTE OR SO. IT HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING OR IDLE. THIS STARTED YESTERDAY EVENING. NOT SURE WHAT IS CAUSING IT. EVERYTHING IS RUNNING FINE IN THE VEHICLE. THERE MUST BE OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND RESOLUTIONS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY DENALI XL. THE CONTACT STATED ABS AND SERVICE BRAKES LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON HER INSTRUMENTAL PANEL. THE CONTACT TOOK HER VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THE EBCM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED HOWEVER, ONLY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WOULD BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS AND BECAUSE A SYSTEM UPDATE WOULD NEED TO BE REFORMED AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED GMC DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER STATED THE PART WAS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND IT WOULD BE UNKNOWN HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE REPRODUCE THE PART NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 123,000. RK
THE VERY SAME THING DESCRIBED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN 14V755000, GM SAFETY RECALL 14291, BEGAN HAPPENING TO MY 2005 GMC ENVOY XL. MY HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED OFF AND ON. IN TIME, MY HEADLIGHTS STAYED OFF LONGER AND LONGER. ONLY THE LOW BEAMS AND THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS SEEMED TO BE AFFECTED. I COULD FIND NO DISCERNIBLE REASON OR CONNECTION TO ANY ACTION OR SETTING ON THE CAR. WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT WHEN I AM DRIVING AT NIGHT AND REMAIN OFF FOR MORE THAN A SECOND OR TWO, IT IS VERY DANGEROUS, SO I QUIT DRIVING AT NIGHT IN THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE TAKEN IT TO A GM SERVICE CENTER FOR REPAIR. THE RECALL 14291 LETTER POSTED AT HTTP://WWW-ODI.NHTSA.DOT.GOV/ACMS/CS/JAXRS/DOWNLOAD/DOC/UCM471691/RIONL-14V755-2465.PDF DESCRIBES MY SAFETY SITUATION EXACTLY. SERVICE MANAGER SAID MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. *TR
SEEMS THAT THE FUEL GAUGE READS EMPTY EVEN AFTER I FILL IT UP. IT WILL CHIME, ILLUMINATE THE LOW FUEL LIGHT AND READ --- FOR RANGE LEFT TILL EMPTY. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE. AFTER YOU DRIVE AND USE ABOUT 5 GALLONS IT WILL THEN GO FROM F TO E EVERY FEW MINUTES AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WITH CODE P0463. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE. GM STATED THAT THEY DID SEND OUT AT ONE TIME A OFFER TO PAY HALF OF THE ASSOCIATED COST IF WE CHOSE TO FIX THIS AND IT WAS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR A SHORT TIME. I WAS DEPLOYED OVERSEAS AT THE TIME SO I NEVER GOT THAT MAIL AND I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO ANYTHING AT THAT POINT IN TIME ANYWAY, HOWEVER THEY COULD HAVE ALLOWED ME TO DO IT UPON MY RETURN, NOPE!!! THEY SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE NOW, AND IT IS VIEWED ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS. THEY TOLD ME TO SEE THEIR LIAISON AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, HE WILL THEN CALL THE GM REP. IT HAS NOW BEEN OVER A WEEK AND STILL NO REPLY. WHEN I CALLED GM BACK ON MY OWN, IT SEEMS THEY CLOSED MY CASE BUT DID NOT HAVE A REASON WHY IT WAS CLOSED AND I WAS PLACED FROM ONE SUPERVISOR TO ANOTHER. I HAVE REPAIRED OR REPLACED SO MANY THING ON THIS SUV IN EXCESS OF 7K ALREADY ITS NOT FUNNY.( POWER PEDAL RELAY, AND MODULE, SELF LEVELING SUSPENSION, AC CONTROL HEAD, FAN CLUTCH MOTOR, AC ACCUMULATOR, ENTIRE FUSE BLOCK, ENTIRE SHORT BLOCK OF ENGINE AND HALF THE TOP END.)NOW THE HEAT AND AC SYSTEM ARE GIVING ME ISSUES WITH THE ACTUATOR DOOR AS WELL AS THE CONTROL BOX WHERE NO AIR COMES THRU THE DASH VENTS ONLY THE FLOOR AND GMC STATED THAT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT HAS AFFECTED MANY BUT THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THAT EITHER. OF COURSE NOW I AM OVER THE ALLOTTED MILEAGE AND WARRANTY. SOME OF US LIVE IN RURAL AREAS WHERE ITS NOT A QUICK TRIP TO A LOCAL STORE BUT A 17 MILE ROUND TRIP JUST TO GET TO A SMALL STORE. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER HAS GOTTEN STUCK AT 120 MPH & WILL NOT RESET... THIS HAS HAPPENED OFF & ON & I WAS USUALLY ABLE TO RESET THE SPEEDOMETER BY TURNING ON AND OFF THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES... BUT NOW, IT HAS OFFICIALLY STAYED AT 120MPH. I AM UNABLE TO TELL HOW FAST I AM ACTUALLY DRIVING. I KNOW GMC HAD SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THEIR CHEVROLET VEHICLES - & THAT RESULTED IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT TO HAVE THEM ISSUE A RECALL.... I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE A RECALL ON THIS... IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THIS WAY!! *TR
AT VARIOUS SPEEDS INCLUDING AT REST, INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS FAILED AND THEN COME BACK UP AFTER CUTTING TRUCK OFF AND RESTARTING IT. NOW THE SPEEDOMETER AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES ARE GREATLY INACCURATE. THE SPEEDOMETER WORKS INTERMITTENTLY AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE IS ALWAYS SHOWING HOT. CONCERNING!!! *TR
I WAS DOING PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE ON MY 2005 GMC ENVOY AND WHILE I HAD THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL OFF I HAD NOTICED A FAIRLY LARGE RUSTED HOLE IN THE SIDE OF THE FRAME TO THE LEFT OF THE SHOCK TOWER. I COULDN'T BELIEVE THAT A 2005 VEHICLE HAD FRAME RUST THAT WENT CLEAR THROUGH THE VEHICLE. I HAVE A 1981 JEEP THAT I USE AS A FARM VEHICLE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE FRAME RUST THROUGH. I AM SURE THAT BEFORE THIS VEHICLE IS PAID OFF IT WILL HAVE A BROKEN FRAME SOON. I JUST CHECKED THE HOLE YESTERDAY AND IT IS GETTING LARGER. VERY POOR METAL USED IN THESE FRAMES. NOT SATISFIED. A FRAME OUGHT TO LAST LONGER THAN THAT. *TR
THIS PIECE OF CRAP VEHICLE IN WHICH THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAS COMPLETELY FAILED STARTING WITH THE FUEL GAUGE. THIS FAILURE THEN LED TO THE FAILURE OF ALL THE GAUGES MINUS AS OF RIGHT NOW THE SPEEDOMETER. THE TAC WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO. GMC NOW HAS WENT BACK AND WANTS TO "FIX" THE SENDING UNIT ONLY TO THE GAS TANK (GEE....THANKS FOR THE RUSH GM CONSIDERING THIS IS A 2005 VEHICLE AND THE YEAR IS NOW 2013...AND PEOPLE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING FOR DARN CLOSE TO 10 YEARS ABOUT THEM NOW!! NICE JOB STEPPING UP!!).....THUS CORRECTING THE GAS GAUGE ..WE HOPE (WHICH I HAVE BEEN TOLD WILL PROBABLY LAST FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR...IF WE ARE LUCKY....OH JOY FOR US!!!) YEA...THANKS GM...I NOW KNOW I WILL HAVE 3/4 OF A TANK OF GAS WHEN MY FREAKIN VEHICLE OVERHEATS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY SINCE THE REST OF THE GAUGES DO NOT WORK BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE WILL NOT BACK YOUR G.D. GMC ENVOY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. ALL POWER LOST. VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP JUST A FEW FEET BEFORE AN INTERSECTION. DEALER REPLACED IGNITION SWITCH, DUE TO "MULTIPLE CODES STORED IN THE ECM." IRONICALLY, ALMOST 2 YEARS PRIOR, SAME ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE HAPPENED ON THE EXPRESS WAY. WE WERE LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BEFORE THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED DURING THAT INCIDENT AS WELL. TWO IGNITION SWITCHES HAVE BEEN REPLACED IN THE SAME VEHICLE OVER THE COURSE OF 2 YEARS. I'M SURPRISED THAT THIS VEHICLE ISN'T PART OF THE GM IGNITION RECALL! *TR
IN MARCH 2012 I HAD MOTOR MOUNTS INSTALLED ON MY 2005 GMC ENVOY AT THE DEALERSHIP JAY GMC BUICK COLUMBUS GEORGIA. ON AUGUST 26,2013 THEY ARE TELLING ME I NEED NEW MOTOR MOUNTS BECAUSE OF THE AGE OF VEHICLE AND MILES THEY NEED TO BE REPLACE. I GUESS PARTS ARE OLD AND PROFESSIONAL INSTALLING IS OLD TO. DURING THIS SAME TIME HAD A TUNE-UP {MAJOR} AND NOW HAVE TO HAVE COIL AND PLUG INSTALL. THIS MAKE IT SEEM PAYING FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVE IS A WASTE OF TIME. MY FUEL INJECTOR ALSO NEEDS CLEANING AGAIN. IN THE FUTURE I CAN ONLY EXPECT 40,000 MILES ON ANYTHING FIXED BY DEALER. *TR
LOW BEAM RELAY (HEADLAMP DRIVER MODULE (HDM) BURNED OUT--SAME THING HAPPENED 4-9-2015. THIS TIME MELTED THE FAN RELAY AND FUSED THE TWO RELAYS TOGETHER. 2006 & 2007 ENVOYS WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME IDENTICAL PROBLEM. THE HDM OVERHEATED AND CAUSED HEADLAMP AND DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS TO FAIL AND NOT ILLUMINATE. GMC PLANS TO CHARGE APPROXIMATELY $800 FOR ENTIRE NEW SET UP BECAUSE BOX IS NOT SOLD WITHOUT ALL RELAYS. WAS TOLD POSSIBLE FURTHER EXPENSE IF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ARE FOUND. *TR
I FILLED UP AT THE LOCAL EXXON GAS STATION AND WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE FUEL GAUGE READS EMPTY WITH THE YELLOW LIGHT ILLUMINATED. TRIED STARTING THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES,TO NO AVAIL.CARRIED CAR TO A MECHANIC AND DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE SENDING UNIT IN THE FUEL TANK. REPAIR COST ROUGHLY $800 - $1000 DOLLARS. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY ANYMORE. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM IN GMC ENVOYS, BUT GM WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE NOR FIX THE ISSUE. SPEEDOMETER CURRENTLY SHOWS I'M DOING 60 MPH WHILE PARKED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE DRIVERS DON'T REALLY KNOW HOW FAST THEY ARE GOING...... *TR
FUEL LIGHT CAME ON, SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING, ENGINE CUT OFF. BEFORE THAT, THE MUFFLER STARTED MAKING RUMBLING NOISE. I HAD JUST FUELED THE VEHICLE. FINDINGS BY AAA: ABS BAD HAD TO BE REPLACED 1056$ AND REALIGNMENT. 2. EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND PIPE REPLACEMENT 400. DON'T KNOW ABOUT FUEL SYSTEM YET BRAKES /ABS IS 3RD TIME SINCE BUYING THE CAR IN 2006. 2ND TIME FOR ENGINE ISSUES. CAR STARTED OVERHEATING ON BELTWAY THIS WEEK AND BLOWER MOTOR NOT WORKING RIGHT. ALSO HAVE ISSUES WITH WINDOW PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WONT WORK NOW AND REAR WIPER STOPPED WORKING. HOLY YOU KNOW! THINK I GOT A LEMON! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY XL 370. WHILE TRAVELING A HIGHWAY RATE OF SPEED, THE REAR WINDOWS FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A GLASS REPAIR SHOP WHERE BOTH WINDOWS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO YEARS LATER, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE REAR WINDOWS FRACTURED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE GLASS REPAIR SHOP WHO REPLACED THE REAR WINDOWS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. UPDATED 09/09/15*LJ
WE WERE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND THE HEAD LIGHTS WENT OUT LEAVING US IN THE DARK. WE HAVE CHECKED THE FUSES BUT THEY ARE ALL FINE. THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT COME OFF OF EMPTY EVEN THOUGH WE FILL IT UP. *TR
FUEL GAUGE SENSOR 2005 ENVOY XL DENALI. 70153 MILES. AFTER FUELING THE VEHICLE FUEL GAUGE REGISTERS EMPTY UNTIL ABOUT AN EIGHTH OF A TANK HAS BEEN USED THEN THE FUEL GAUGE WORKS JUST FINE. HAVE TO DISCONNECT THE POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL FOR APPX. TEN MINUTES TO GET THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT TO STOP ILLUMINATING. OCCURS EVERYTIME I FILL THE VEHICLE. IT CAUSES AN INACCURATE FUEL READING. TURNING IN TO DEALER TOMORROW 06-19-2013 FOR REPAIRS. CODE PRODUCED P0463. *TR
I FILLED MY TANK AT A GAS STATION AND WHEN LEAVING THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON AND THE FUEL GAUGE DROPPED DOWN TO "E" AND LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER 10-15 SECONDS THE FUEL GAUGE WENT ALL THE WAY TO "FULL". A FEW MINUTES LATER IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN, AND HAS CONTINUED. *TR
A RECALL HAS JUST BEEN ISSUED FOR GMC ENVOY. DRIVER SIDE DOOR PANEL SHORTS OUT AND MAY CAUSE A FIRE. RECALL FOR 2006 AND 2007 MODEL YEARS. MY CAR IS A 2005 AND THE DRIVER DOOR CONTROLS HAVE BEEN SHORTING OUT FOR ABOUT A YEAR. I HAVE NOT YET HAD A FIRE BUT WHY WAS MY MODEL YEAR NOT RECALLED AND WHAT STEPS CAN I TAKE TO HAVE THIS MODEL YEAR INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL? *TR
WE PARKED OUR GMC ENVOY IN THE DRIVEWAY THE EVENING OF 6/8/13 AROUND 7:30 PM. I HADN'T USED THE REAR HATCH AT ALL ON THIS DAY. MY HUSBAND WAS OUTSIDE AND LEFT AND CAME BACK IN HIS VEHICLE AFTER MIDNIGHT. SO SOMETIME IN THE EARLY HOURS OF 6/9/13 THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODED. AT FIRST WE THOUGH SOMETHING OR SOMEONE BROKE IT, HOWEVER THERE WERE NO FOREIGN OBJECTS FOUND THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED IT THE BREAK. IT WASN'T A NICK OR CRACK, THE GLASS WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. MOST OF THE GLASS WAS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ALL OVER THE SIDE WALK WITH ONLY A SMALL AMOUNT ON THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED FROM THE INSIDE. AFTER DOING AN INTERNET SEARCH I FOUND MANY OTHER INSTANCES OF THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENING TO OTHER GMC ENVOYS. IN SOME CASES PEOPLE WERE NEAR ENOUGH AND SOME BEING INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND INCURRED INJURIES WITH NO KNOWN OR APPARENT CAUSE FOR THE GLASS TO BE SHATTERED. THANK GOODNESS WE WERE INSIDE SLEEPING AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE PROBLEM COMES IN THAT I CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED EVEN WITH MY INSURANCE AS MY DEDUCTIBLE HASN'T BEEN MET, SO WE HAVE PLASTIC OVER IT. WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE RAMP, MY HEADLIGHTS STARTED TO FLICKER IN AND OUT. AT ONE POINT THE LIGHTS WENT COMPLETELY OUT. AFTER HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. WENT TO THE MECHANIC AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG. *TR
UPON FILLING GAS TANK TO FULL, FUEL GAUGE INDICATED EMPTY AND LOW FUEL LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THIS INDICATION NOW COMES AND GOES AND IS ERRATIC AND UNRELIABLE. NOTE: I RECEIVED A LETTER ( NOT A RECALL ) FROM GM LAST YEAR SAYING IF MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM TO NOTIFY MY DEALER FOR SERVICE. APPEARS TO ME, GM KNEW IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE I EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS BY GM ENVOY OWNERS SINCE THEN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. MY LOCAL GM DEALER SAYS THAT GM WILL FIX THE PROBLEM AND PAY ONLY HALF THE COST. THIS WELL KNOWN PROBLEM IS OF EPIDEMIC PROPORTION. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN UPGRADED TO A RECALL. *TR
ON WAY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 8:00 PM CENTRAL TIME AT NIGHT TO MOTHERS HOUSE AT SPEED OF 45 MPH WHICH IS SPEED LIMIT 55 MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE DRIVING, THE HEADLIGHTS START FLICKERING ON AND OFF. AS I STILL DRIVING, THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKERING ON AND OFF GOT WORSE AND WORSE. I WAS IMMEDIATELY CONCERN WITH THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD THAT I HAD TO STOP AT A STORE TO CHECK THE LIGHTS. LIGHTS AND VEHICLE IS INTACT AND NOTHING SEEM TO CAUSE ANY OBSTRUCTION FOR THE LIGHTS TO FLICKER ON AND OFF. I IMMEDIATELY CAME HOME WHICH I WAS ONLY 15 MILES FROM THE HOUSE. *TR
MY PROBLEM IS COVERED UNDER RECALL 14291 BUT MY YEAR ISN'T INCLUDED. DESPITE NUMEROUS BULB REPLACEMENTS AND MECHANIC VISITS, MY VEHICLE'S LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHTS DO NOT WORK. I'VE CONTACTED GM, BUT THEY OFFERED NO SOLUTION THAT'S AFFORDABLE. I HAVE NO HEADLIGHT OTHER THAN HIGH-BEAMS. PLEASE HELP AND MAKE GM INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM ON ALL THEIR 2005 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES.
THE FUEL GAUGE ON MY VEHICLE STARTED TO GO UP AND DOWN AND THEN THE YELLOW EMPTY LIGHT CAME ON ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE DRIVING. EVEN AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT READ CORRECTLY. I'M NOW AT THE POINT I HAVE TO KEEP TRACK OF MY GAS USAGE BY USING MY TRIP METER AND TRACKING THE MILES THAT I DRIVE. I'M AFRAID TO TAKE MY VEHICLE ON LONG TRIPS, NOT KNOWING WHEN I MAY RUN OUT OF GAS. *TR
WE STARTED NOTICING AFTER A FILL UP AT THE GAS STATION THE GAS GAUGE STILL SHOWED EMPTY. THE GAUGE TOOK OVER AN HOUR OF DRIVING TO MOVE UP TO FULL. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK LAST WEEK THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF GAS AND STALLED. WE ADDED HALF A TANK, BUT THE GAUGE STILL SHOWED EMPTY THE NEXT FEW TIMES IT WAS DRIVEN SOMEWHERE. LAST WEEKEND I FILLED UP AGAIN AND THE GAUGE SHOWED EMPTY STILL WITH WARNING INDICATOR ON. AGAIN IT TOOK OVER AN HOUR OF DRIVING FOR THE GAUGE TO REGISTER THE TANK EVEN 3/4 FULL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE INVESTIGATOR THAT WAS DEPLOYED WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000. *TR
THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED ON 2-15-2013 ON PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE SE DURING RUSH HOUR THE OTHER CAR DID NOT YIELD TO ONGOING TRAFFIC ON PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE AND DODGED OUT FROM A SIDE STREET AND HIT MY VEHICLE ON THE FRONT SIDE AND MY SON WHO IS 13 HEAD HIT THE DASHBOARD AND MY DAUGHTERS DOG FLEW FROM THE BACK SEAT UP TO THE FRONT. THE OTHER VEHICLE AIRBAG DID DEPLOY BUT MINES DID NOT. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE IN THE EVENING, THE SPEEDOMETER BECAME "STUCK" AT ABOUT 30 MPH. WE PULLED OFF AT A REST STOP AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, HOPING THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD RESET ITSELF. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE SPEEDOMETER SAT AT 60 MPH, EVEN THOUGH WE WERE STILL SITTING AT THE REST STOP--NOT MOVING. WE TRIED TURNING OFF THE ENGINE AGAIN AND THIS TIME WHEN WE RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE "STUCK" AT OVER 120 MPH--AGAIN WE WERE NOT MOVING. THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE STAYED PAST THE 120 MPH MARK FOR THE ENTIRE TRIP HOME. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE ABLE TO FOLLOW SOME FRIENDS HOME. A FEW DAYS LATER, WE TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC. HE INDICATED THAT HE HAD SEEN THE SPEEDOMETER PROBLEM BEFORE WITH OTHER GMCS AND HE THEN REPLACED THE "INSTRUMENT CLUSTER" IN OUR VEHICLE. WE ALSO DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT SEVERAL GMC MODELS HAD BEEN RECALLED DUE TO PROBLEMS WITH THE SPEEDOMETER, BUT THE RECALLS DID NOT APPEAR TO INCLUDE THE 2005 GMC ENVOY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, BOTH OF THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHUT OFF AND THE HEATER FAN CONTINUED TO OPERATE. THE CONTACT HAD TO UNPLUG THE BATTERY TERMINAL IN ORDER TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FUSE BOX WAS MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE FUSE BOX AND OTHER PARTS THAT WERE DAMAGED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT AND THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE OIL GAUGE WENT OUT FIRST AND THE DEALER STATED THE OIL SENDING UNIT NEED TO BE REPLACE AND IT WOULD COST ME OVER 300. 00 DOLLARS, THEN NEXT THE ENGINE COOLANT GAUGE STARTING GOING CRAZY. I TOOK MY CAR BACK FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER NEEDS REPLACING. I WENT BACK TO HAVE MY ENGINE COOLANT GAUGE LOOK AT BY THE DEALER BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO BE STRANDED SOMEWHERE WITH MY 4 YEAR TODDLER IN THE CAR AND PAID FOR THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE ENGINE COOLANT THERMOSTAT BASED ON THEIR INSTRUCTIONS. STILL MY OIL PRESSURE GAUGE WAS PEGGED OUT AND NOW THE SPEEDOMETER GAUGE HAS COMPLETELY STOP WORKING, SO I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE GMC DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER NEED TO BE REPLACE AND THAT WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE TOO. I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OVER $570.00 DOLLARS TO REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER AND THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE BY ITSELF. I AM VERY UPSET AFTER BEING QUOTED AND TOLD THE FIRST TIME BY THE DEALER THAT THEY COULD FIX THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE AT ONE PRICE AND NOW TELL ME THAT WITHOUT REPLACING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER FOR THE SPEEDOMETER GAUGE THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPAIR THE OIL GAUGE. I NEED ASSISTANCE WITH THIS PROBLEM DUE TO THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE IN WHICH TO TAKE MY PRESCHOOL CHILD BACK AND FORTH TO SCHOOL AND MANY DAYS OTHER DRIVES FROM BEHIND HAVE BLOWN THEIR HORN AT ME DUE TO GOING TO SLOW BECAUSE I AM UNSURE WHAT SPEED I AM GOING. I WAS USING THE RPM GAUGE TO HELP OUT BUT IT HAS NOW STOP WORKING TOO. I CONTACTED GMC ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT THEY DIRECTED ME TO THE GMC DEALER, WHICH I AM STILL WAITING ON A RESPONSE FROM. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM FOR ME TO BE DRIVING A CAR IN WHICH THE INSTRUMENT GAUGES JUST STOP WORKING AT ANYTIME. *TR
I HAD TROUBLE WITH THE GAUGE THAT SHOWS OVERHEATING.I TOOK THE CAR IN TO PUT IN A THERMOSTAT THINKING IT WAS THE PROBLEM,BUT WHEN I TOOK IT IN THEY SAID THAT MY CLUSTER WAS BAD AND THE GAUGES WERE MESSED UP.I PAID $392.00 FOR THE CLUSTER AND $100.00 FOR LABOR.I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED WITH 119,000 MILES ON IT ON 6/20/2011 AND ON 2/23/2013 I HAD THE CLUSTER REPLACED WITH MILEAGE OF 132,356. I PUT ON NEW BRAKES AT THIS TIME SINCE THE HAD A HABIT OF GRABBING AND MAKING ME SLIDE AND JERK TO A STOP.THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE NOW IS THE THE DOOR LOCKS MESS UP ONCE IN AWHILE BUT OTHER THAN THAT I TAKE MY ENVOY IN EVERY 4000 MILES FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND A CHECK UP IT IS NOW 12/15/2015 AND I ONLY HAVE 142,000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS STILL RUNNING OK.I KEEP CHECKING ONCE A MONTH FOR RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE SOMETIMES A DOME LIGHT WILL COME ON .BUT NOT OFTEN.MY ENVOY HAS NOT RUST AND THE INTERIOR IS IN AS GOOD AS IT WAS WHEN I PURCHASED IT FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER WHICH IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION

HALF THE GLASS WAS INSIDE VEHICLE AND HALF THE GLASS WAS BLOWN BACKON THE HOOD AND BUMPER OF MY SECOND CAR WHICH WAS PARKED DIRECTLY BEHIND SAID VEHICLE. NEITHER ONE WAS IN MOTION. *TR
ELECTRICAL FIRE APPEAR TO HAVE STARTED UNDER DASH ON THE RIGHT SIDE WHERE THR BLOWER MOTOR IS LOCATED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 118,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH NOT JUST MY VEHICLE, BUT AFTER A VERY SIMPLE WEB SEARCH A VAST NUMBER OF THESE GMC ENVOY VEHICLES. WHEN TRAVELING NORMALLY THE SPEEDOMETER DECIDES TO EITHER DROP ITS SPEED BY 20-30 MPH OR RAISE IT EVEN AS HIGH AS 120MPH. WHEN TRAVELING IN THE CITY OR HWY WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT ZONES VARY RATHER FREQUENTLY AND IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, THE DRIVER NATURALLY REACTS TO THE NEEDLE UNAWARE THAT THE SPEEDOMETER IS ACTUALLY FAULTY. I HAVE THEREFORE BRAKED HARD TO REDUCE MY SPEED WHEN IN FACT I WAS GOING THE SPEED LIMIT. THAT CAN RESULT IN AN INSTANT TO A REAR END CRASH BASED ON NORMAL REACTIONS. GM OBVIOUSLY ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AS THERE ARE MULTIPLE ON LINE COMPLAINTS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE AND INDEED THEY ISSUED A RECALL FOR SIMILAR GM TRUCKS. THEY HOWEVER CONTINUE TO IGNORE THE ENVOY PROBLEM AND LEAVE THE OWNERS "LIVE OR DIE" WITH THE PROBLEM. HOW THIS CANNOT BE CONSIDERED A HIGH PRIORITY SAFETY ISSUE IS A MYSTERY TO ME. EVEN 10 MPH VARIATIONS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC MEAN POTENTIAL ACCIDENTS FROM BUMPER HUGGING DRIVERS BEHIND. THIS ISSUE IS MORE COMMON IN THE EXTREME COLD WEATHER AND THUS I AM OF THE OPINION THAT THERE IS A DEFINITE TESTING VALIDATION PROBLEM. *TR

IN DECEMBER OF THIS PAST YEAR (2012) MY 2005 GMC ENVOY BEGAN TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE SPEEDOMETER. I WOULD BE TRAVELING DOWN THE A BUSY ROAD AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT BARLEY MOVING AND THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD READ 80MPH. THE NEEDLE WOULD FLUCTUATE ANYWHERE FROM 20 MPH ALL THE WAY UP TO 120 MPH AND PEG THERE. ONE OCCASION THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD GO BACK TO NORMAL 0 MPH AND WORK NORMALLY, BUT NOW THAT IS AN EXTREMELY RARE OCCURRENCE. *TR
REAR WINDSHIELD/BACK WINDOW SHATTERED ON IT'S OWN WHILE PARKED IN PARKING LOT. COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY OR WHAT HAD CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SHOP FOR WINDSHIELD TO BE REPLACED, AND WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR TO LEAVE THE SHOP THE REAR WINDSHIELD SHATTERED AGAIN. MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE BACK SEAT AT THE TIME AND THIS SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF BOTH OF US. THE SHOP COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS AND REPLACED THE WINDOW FOR A 2ND TIME. WHEN I GOT HOME I GOOGLED 'GMC ENVOY, REAR WINDOW' AND SEE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OTHERS WITH ENVOYS OF DIFFERENT YEAR MODELS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO HERE FOR THE SAFETY OF THOSE OF US DRIVING THESE VEHICLES. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING AFTER ABOUT TWO HOURS OF DRIVING. IT GOES TO ZERO. IT SOMETIMES STARTS AGAIN IF THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND STARTED AGAIN, BUT IT WILL QUIT WORKING IF A LONG DRIVE CONTINUES. IT WORKS PERFECTLY WHEN DRIVING AROUND TOWN ON SHORT TRIPS. THE SERVICE BULLETIN APPARENTLY SAYS TO "CLEAN GROUND CONNECTION". HOWEVER, THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM TOLD I NEED TO HAVE SPEEDOMETER REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $600.00. *TR
