TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. AFTER SOME TIME, SEVERAL OF THE GAUGES ON THE DASHBOARD MALFUNCTIONED AS WELL. THE HEAD LIGHTS ALSO BEGAN TO FLICKER ON AND OFF INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS SCHEDULED FOR DIAGNOSIS BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
THE SPEEDOMETER FAILS TO REPRESENT TRUE VEHICLE SPEED. USING A GPS WE CAN MONITOR THE INACCURACY IN THE GAUGE READING. THE SPEEDOMETER REFLECTS A SPEED OF 25 WHEN ACTUAL SPEED IS 45. THIS BECOMES WORSE AS THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AS THE SPEEDOMETER COMPLETELY FAILS TO REGISTER SPEED. AN IDENTICAL ISSUE WAS PRESENT ON A 2003 CHEVROLET TRUCK WE OWN WHICH WAS REPAIRED BY GM UNDER AN IN-HOUSE PROGRAM RESULTING FROM A LAWSUIT. GM HAS DECLINED TO REPAIR THIS SAME PROBLEM ON THIS MODEL. IF A DRIVER CANNOT ACCURATELY DETERMINE HIS/HER SPEED AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT THE POSSIBILITY FOR SAFETY RELATED INSTANCES ARE INCREASED FOR THE DRIVER AND OTHERS. *TR
SERVICE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON EVEN AFTER REPAIRED , GAS GAUGE GOES CRAZY, TACHOMETER DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY LIGHTS DIM AND FLASH, WINDSHIELD HAS RECALL NEEDS REPLACED , GAS GAUGE QUIT WORKING ELECTRICAL SYSTEM KEEPS FAILING. THREE RECALLS NEED TO BE REPLACED GMC ADMITS FAULT TO ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, NOTED ON WEBSITE SAFERCAR.GOV. WANT TO KNOW WHAT DEALER TO BRING MY CAR TO FOR REPAIRS. I AM A CANCER PATIENT WITH METASTATIC LIVER CANCER I HAVE THOUSAND OF DOLLARS WORTH OF MEDICAL, I CAN'T KEEP PAYING FOR THIS CAR TO BE REPAIRED WHEN GMC OWNS UP TO THE FACT THAT THESE DEFECTS ARE THEIR FAULT PLEASE TELL ME WHERE TO TAKE THIS ENVOY FOR THEM TO FIX ALL THESE PROBLEMS THANK YOU *TR
LEFT REAR DOOR FLEW OPEN GOING AROUND CORNER. COULD NOT GET THE DOOR TO LATCH. REMOVED LATCH ASSEMBLY AND ATTEMPTED TO CLEAN. TOO MUCH RUST AND CORROSION. SOME OF THE DEBRIS LOOKS LIKE IT CAME FROM THE STRIKER. HAD SAME TROUBLE WITH RIGHT REAR DOOR AT 80,000 MILES. DISASSEMBLED AND CLEANED. WORKS FOR A WHILE. SOME ONE GOING TO FALL OUT OF ONE OF THESE SUV'S. GM NEEDS TO STEP UP AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
GASOLINE AND OIL PRESSURE GAUGES STOP WORKING SUDDENLY ON A GMC ENVOY 2005. *TR
INFORMED BY MECHANIC THAT EXHAUST MANIFOLD HAS CRACK AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT. *TR
I NOTICED THAT WHEN I FILLED UP THE TANK THE LIGHT CAME ON AS IF THE TANK WAS EMPTY. I ACTUALLY STOPPED WHEN I WAS PULLING OUT OF THE GAS STATION AND LOOKED AT MY RECEIPT AND QUESTIONED THE ATTENDANT. THE TANK WAS FULL. THE GAUGE WAS ERRATIC FROM THEN ON GOING FROM FULL TO EMPTY IN A MATTER OF TWO TO THREE MILES AND IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING REGULARLY. THE FUNNY THING WAS THAT I JUST GOT A LETTER FROM GMC ADVISING ME OF THIS PROBLEM AND MAGNANIMOUSLY OFFERING TO PAY FOR 50% OF THE COST. I COULDN'T BELIEVE THE TIMING. THINKING IT WAS A MINOR THING I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT AND FOUND OUT THAT I AM FACING A MINIMUM OF $600.00 FOR DROPPING MY GAS TANK AND CHECKING TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. SERIOUSLY!!!???? WHEN I RESEARCHED THIS IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A RAMPANT PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL?? WHY AM I BURDENED WITH THIS RIDICULOUS COST WHEN IT IS APPARENT THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS A FALSE READING ON THE GAS GAUGE COULD MAKE THE DRIVER THINK THEY HAVE A FULL TANK WHEN IN FACT IT IS EMPTY AN THE VEHICLE COULD STALL OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND CAUSE A HORRIFIC ACCIDENT. I WOULD LIKE TO ADD MY REQUEST FOR ACTION FROM GMC TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY AT THEIR EXPENSE - NOT THE CONSUMERS'. *TR
ONE INCIDENT WHERE THE DOOR MALFUNCTIONED IN A POSITION WHERE THE DOOR CAME COMPLETELY OFF THREE OF THE LATCHES AND THE DOOR WAS ONLY BEING HELD ON BY THE NON-ELECTRONIC LATCH, THE DOOR FELL INTO MY ARMS AND I HAD TO HOLD THE DOOR UP AND MANUALLY PLACE IT INTO POSITION SO I COULD GET IT TO CLOSE. HAD I NOT CAUGHT THE DOOR, IT WOULD HAVE FALLEN TO THE GROUND. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DAMAGED. IT COULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE THAT THE DOOR FELL OUT ONTO ME, CAUSING INJURY. ON OCTOBER 1ST, 2011 THE DOOR CAME OPEN WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, AS THE VEHICLE PULLED AWAY AT A GREEN LIGHT THE DOOR FLUNG OPEN IN A TAILGATE FASHION(TRUCKBED STYLE) AND SLAMMED AGAINST THE STOPS CAUSING THE WINDOW TO SHATTER ON THE ROAD. PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING, WE WERE LOADING GROCERIES INTO THE BACK WITH THE DOOR OPENED IN THE SWING DOOR FASHION( TO THE SIDE) WHEN WE ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DOOR, IT JUST BOUNCED BACK AND DID NOT SECURE. WE KEPT TRYING TO SECURE THE DOOR AND FINALLY THE DOOR SECURED, BUT IT WOULD ONLY SECURE WITH ONE ELECTRONIC LATCH AND THE MANUAL LATCH, THE TOP LEFT LATCH WOULD NOT CLOSE. IT SHOWED AJAR ON THE DASH. AS STATED ABOVE WHEN WE PULLED AWAY AT A GREEN LIGHT, THE DOOR FLUNG OPEN LIKE A TRUCK BED STYLE WITH THE WINDOW UP. THE DOOR IS NOT DESIGNED TO OPEN TRUCKBED STYLE WITH THE WINDOW UP, THE WINDOW NEEDS TO BE IN THE OPEN POSITION BEFORE IT WILL OPEN TRUCK BED STYLE. EVEN IF YOU WERE TO ACTIVATE THE TRUCKBED LATCH OPENER, THE DOOR WOULD SENSE THAT THE WINDOW WAS UP AND DEFAULT TO THE SIDE SWING METHOD. THE TAILGATE DOOR IS A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF THE DOOR WHICH ALLOWS WATER AND DIRT/SAND TO INFILTRATE THE LATCHES AND CAUSE UN-WANTED OPERATIONS WHICH COULD CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH. *TR
EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS CRACKED. HAD EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND GASKETS REPLACED. TOOK 5 WORKING DAYS TO FIX. CHECKED ON LINE AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE ENVOY AND TRAILER BLAZER 'S MANIFOLD. *TR
ON SEPTEMBER 16TH, 2011, I WAS INVOLVED IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT THAT WAS A HEAD ON CRASH. THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED AND I SUSTAINED BACK INJURIES. ON SITE OF THE ACCIDENT MY BACK WAS HURTING SOME BUT DID NOT GO TO HOSPITAL UNTIL LATER THAT EVENING, AFTER THE ADRENALIN AND THE SHOCK WORE OFF. I NOW HAVE SEVER BACK PROBLEMS WITH A LOT OF PAIN AND WAS DECLARED DISABLED IN 2012. AT THE TIME OF DOING RESEARCH I WAS TOLD BY ON-STAR, WHICH NEVER CAME ON, THAT IF MY AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY THEY WOULDN'T COME ON.. BUT, THE FRAME WAS BENT SO BAD THAT THEY TOTALED THE VEHICLE, WITH A LOT OF OTHER DAMAGE. THE WHOLE FRONT WAS DAMAGED, THE BUMPER WAS DESTROYED ALONG WITH DAMAGE TO THE MOTOR. AND WE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
"GMC ENVOY FUEL SENSOR MAY FAIL PREMATURELY". I GOT THIS INFORMATION FROM GM IN A LETTER. THEY WILL PAY 1/2 COST TO HAVE IT REPLACED IF THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD AND HAS =<120K MILES. MY VEHICLE HAS 148K AND IS A 2005 MODEL. GM TELLS ME THEY WILL NOT HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM DUE TO THE HIGHER MILES. I CONSIDER THE FACT THAT THE FUEL SENSOR MAY READ EMPTY EVEN WHEN FULL OR FULL WHEN IN FACT THE TANK IS EMPTY TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD. I AM ASKING FOR YOUR HELP TO HAVE GM RECALL THE AFFECTED MODELS AND REPAIR AT NO COST TO ME OR THE THOUSANDS OF OTHERS WHO IN FACT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE NEVER FILED A COMPLAINT BEFORE AND HOPE THAT I HAVE PROVIDED ENOUGH INFORMATION FOR THE BOARD TO TAKE POSITIVE ACTION. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 ENVOY GMC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FATAL MAY RESULT IN A FATAL INJURY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BOOT AND VACUUM SEAL NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED ADDITIONALLY THE VACUUM BOOSTER ON THE BRAKE LINE AND CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
OUR 2005 GMC ENVOY HAS ALWAYS HAD A FAULTY FUEL GAUGE AND HAS CAUSED OUR FAMILY TO BE STRANDED A FEW TIMES WITHOUT GAS WHILE TRAVELLING FAR FROM HOME. WE TOOK IT INTO A GMC DEALER WHO WANTED $ 950 FOR PARTS AND REPAIRS. WE JUST DONT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY. GMC HAS ALWAYS BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAS NOT OFFERED TO FIX IT NOR HAVE A RECALL ON THIS FAULTY GAS GAUGE. 856,000 GM SUVS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR FAULTY FUEL GAUGES FEDERAL REGULATORS ARE INVESTIGATING 865,000 GENERAL MOTORS SUVS, INCLUDING THE 2005-?07 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER AND BUICK RAINIER,FOR FAULTY FUEL GAUGES THAT ARE INACCURATE. MY 2005 GMC ENVOY SL ONLY HAS 47,000 MILES. I EXPERIENCED DASH ELECTRONICS CONCERNING WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS ("POWER TRAIN COOLOING FAN AT 46,000 MILES") AND GAS TANK LEVEL GAUAGE STOPPED WORKING AT 40,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS ISSUE RELATED TO AN OVERALL SENSOR PROBLEM AND WILL EFFECT THE HEADLIGHTS AND OTHER SAFETY RELATED ISSUES. *TT

LET ME START LIKE THIS. MY FAMILY INCLUDING MY GRANDFATHER ALWAYS HAD CHEVROLET OR GMC CARS. I WAS RAISED LEARNING HOW STRONG THEY WERE, SMOOTH DRIVING AND EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE. I BOUGHT A CHEVY TRAILBLAZER 2002 IN 2006 WHICH I LOVED, BUT UNFORTUNATELY SOMEBODY HAD CRASHED AND AFTER FIXING I SOLD. NEXT, I DECIDED TO BUY AN ENVOY SLT V6 2005 WITH 27KMILES IN 2008, WHICH I HAVE UNTIL TODAY AND I LOVE SO MUCH. SMOOTH DRIVE, COMFORTABLE, POWERFUL, GREAT LOOKING, SPACIOUS AND GREAT ENGINE. AS MY GRANDFATHER USED TO SAY, "SON ALWAYS HAVE A NORMAL MAINTENANCE AND THIS CAR WILL LAST FOREVER". I NEVER HAD ANY SERIOUS PROBLEM, EXCEPT NOW THAT THE FUEL SENSOR LEVEL IS DEAD AND I HAVE THE CHIME ALWAYS SIGNALIZING LOW FUEL EVEN IF I FILL OUT THE TANK. WELL I WAIT FOR MORE THAN 3 MONTHS FILLING OUT THE TANK AND TRACKING THE MILEAGE. 2 WEEKS AGO I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GMC WITH MY VIN NUMBER STANDING THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT THEY FIND OUT AND THEY ARE WILLING TO PAY 50% OF THE COST. I DID CALL THEM IN FACT TO KNOW THE AUTHENTICITY OF THE LETTER AND THEY CONFIRM THE ISSUE RECOMMENDING TO TAKE TO THE DEALER. I DID, AND THIS PROBLEM HAS A COST EQUIVALENT OF ALMOST A THOUSAND, WHICH WITH 50% OF DISCOUNT WITH THE LETTER WILL BE CLOSE TO FIVE HUNDRED. GMC IS AVOIDING HAVING THIS PAID 100% SINCE IT'S A RECOGNIZED AND IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. I REFUSE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IT'S A MANUFACTURING DEFECT PART. MY CAR HAS 86K MILES TODAY AND ITS STILL WITH THE PROBLEM. I CALLED GMC MORE THAN 3 TIMES AND THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS THE SAME "WE'LL PAY 50% OF THE TOTAL COST". THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!! I WANT THIS SOLVED. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE !!! I WANT THIS PAID 100%. *TR

FUEL GAUGE STARTED GOING FROM FULL TO EMPTY (AFTER FILLING), AND NOW IT PRETTY MUCH IS IN THE EMPTY POSITION EVEN WITH THE TANK FULL. VEHICLE HAS 79K MILES. LOW FUEL WARNING LAMP AND SOUND ARE ENGAGED. *TR
GMC ENVOY SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY, WITH OUT WARNING, ON THE EXPRESS WAY. AUTO REPAIR DIAGNOSED THE CAUSE AS A "FAULTY" IGNITION. IGNITION WAS REPLACED. ANOTHER COMPLAINT HAS BEEN SUBMITTED FOR THE SAME VEHICLE. TWO YEARS LATER, THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED, DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE USED IN 2006 AND HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH IT STALLING SEVERAL DAYS A YEAR. NOW MY GAS GAUGE IS NOT WORKING. I FILL IT UP AND IT STARTS BLINKING WITH THE RED LIGHT THAT ITS EMPTY.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR USED WITH APPROXIMATELY 24,000 MILES IN 2006. WITHIN A YEAR OF PURCHASING THE CAR THE CLUSTER PANEL (GAUGES) STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THAT IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $700 TO REPAIR AS THE ENTIRE CLUSTER PANEL WOULD HAVE TO BE REMOVE AND REPLACED. AFTER TALKING WITH CO-WORKERS WITH THE SAME VEHICLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM; I LATER DISCOVERED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE BUT YOU HAD TO BE THE FIRST OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER HAVING THE CLUSTER PANEL REPAIRED, MY GAS GAUGE HAS STOPPED WORKING AND I AM TOLD THAT THE ENTIRE TANK HAS TO BE REMOVED FOR REPAIR AND THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE EITHER. THE WINDOW AND DOOR LOCK SYSTEM ON THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR ALSO IS NON-OPERATIONAL. THIS VEHICLE SEEMS TO HAVE SEVERAL MINOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES BUT I AM MOST DISTURBED BY THE FACT THAT AFTER SPENDING THE MONEY TO HAVE THE CLUSTER PANEL FIXED MY GAS GAUGE IS STILL NOT WORKING PROPERLY.

DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I GLANCED TO CHECK MY SPEEDOMETER AND SAW IT REGISTERED ABOUT 100 MPH. I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 40. THE SPEEDOMETER CONTINUED TO CLIMB AND WENT BELOW THE HIGHEST REGISTERED NUMBER, WHICH IS 120, AND THAT'S WHERE IT NOW SITS APPARENTLY FOR GOOD. NOW I CANNOT TELL MY SPEED. THE NEEDLE REMAINS BURIED BELOW 120 MPH AND DOES NOT MOVE AT ALL NO MATTER WHAT SPEED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE POWER STEERING FEATURE MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL BUT WITH SOME DIFFICULTY. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE DEALER DISCOVERED A BROKEN METAL TUBE THATS CONNECTED TO THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THE CONTACT NOTICED NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 05V455000 (STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST:HOSE, PIPING, AND CONNECTIONS) BUT DUE TO THE VIN NUMBER THE VEHICLE DID NOT APPLY. THE CONTACT STATED WITH THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONING A FIRE COULD HAVE OCCURRED OR EVEN RESULTED IN A CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,300.
I HAVE A 2005 ENVOY, TODAY I WAS DRIVING GOING THE NORMAL SPEED AND GOT TO A STOP SIGN ALL A SUDDEN THE TRUCK STARTED REVVING UP ON ITS ON AND THEN WOULD STOP. THEN I BEGAN TO GIVE IT GAS AND TO MY SURPRISE IT DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO GET UP A HILL.MINUTES LATER THE TRUCK BEGAN TO MOVE AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG.I HAVE ONSTAR SO I CALLED FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK, THEY STATED THAT THE COOLING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE CHECKED , THE ANTIFREEZE MAY BE LOW AND CAN EFFECT THE WAY THE TRUCK IS PERFORMING.WELL AFTER GOING TO THE GAS STATION TO PURCHASE THE ANTIFREEZE THEN I START THE TRUCK AND IT BEGINS TO REV AGAIN ON ITS OWN AND SUDDENLY I CAN NOT MOVE...I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALER....IS THERE A RECALL ON THIS ..IM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS IS DANGEROUS....I HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN......SOMEONE PLEASE ADVISE......I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS BEFORE.... *TR

TANK THE GAUGE SUDDENLY STARTED GOING WILD AND WITHIN 1 MILE OF DRIVING THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" APPEARED. AFTER INVESTIGATING NUMEROUS ON-LINE RESOURCES IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ONLY LIMITED TO THIS VEHICLE BUT IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM IN THE GM LINEUP. DEALERSHIP REPAIR COSTS ARE ESTIMATED IN THE $800.00 TO $1000.00 RANGE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A PROBLEM THAT GM KNOWS TO EXIST YET REFUSES TO TAKE ANY UNILATERAL ACTION ON. *KB
FAULTY FUEL GAUGE. AFTER FILLING UP TANK WITH GAS, FUEL GAUGE READS EMPTY. AFTER SOME DRIVING, FUEL GAUGE INDICATES A CHANGING LEVEL OF FUEL WITH THE RANGE INDICATOR FLUCTUATING FROM 0 TO ~114 MILES LEFT. USUALLY GAUGE READS 0 REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE TANK, BUT SOMETIMES IT WILL INDICATE A HIGHER READING THAN WHAT THE TANK ACTUALLY HOLDS. THIS ISSUE HAS CAUSED 1 INCIDENT WHERE THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF FUEL WHILE THE GAUGE INDICATED THERE WAS STILL FUEL IN THE TANK. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM TO BE WITH THE SENDING UNIT ON THE GAS TANK.
THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT ACCURATELY RECORD THE SPEED WHILE TRAVELING FOR MY 2005, GMC, ENVOY, SLT MODEL. IT WILL INDICATE THAT I AM TRAVELING 20 MPH OR EVEN 0 WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND SEEMS TO INCREASE MY RPMS WHILE MALFUNCTIONING. THIS HAS CAUSED SEVERAL TICKETS AS I CAN NOT PERSONALLY TRACK HOW FAST/SLOW I AM GOING WHILE DRIVING. THIS MALFUNCTION HAPPENS EVERYDAY. JULY 26, 2011 I FILLED MY VEHICLE UP WITH GAS AND NOTICED THAT MY GAS GAUGE SHOWED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS ON EMPTY....AFTER DRIVING IT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR THE GAS GAUGE STARTED WORKING PROPERLY. OVER THE NEXT MONTH IT CONTINUED TO DO THIS OFF AND ON. THEN I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GMC STATING THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH 2005 GMC ENVOY'(WEIRD HOW THE LETTER APPEARED AS I WAS STARTING TO HAVE THE ISSUE) AND THAT THEY WOULD PAY 50% OF MY COST TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AT A GMC DEALERSHIP. WITHIN TWO WEEKS MY FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. I NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH GAS I DO OR DO NOT HAVE IN MY VEHICLE. WHAT IF I RUN OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC!! I FILLED UP MY 2005 GMC ENVOY XL SLT WHEN IT HAD 71,000 MILES. I HAD NO PREVIOUS FUEL GAUGE ISSUES. STARTED THE VEHICLE AND FUEL GAUGE WENT TO EMPTY EVEN THOUGH I HAD FILLED IT COMPLETELY. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO REPAIR SO HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT FOR THE PAST MONTH AND THIS HAS BEEN A DAILY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING. THE FUEL GAUGE FLUCTUATES BETWEEN EMPTY AND FULL AND WILL STICK ON EMPTY AND THE BELL CHIMES CONSTANTLY EVEN WHEN I JUST FILLED IT UP. I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING EXACTLY HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THERE EXCEPT TO MONITOR MILES DRIVEN AND FILL IT BACK UP MORE FREQUENTLY. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WHAT IF MY CALCULATIONS ARE INCORRECT AND MY VEHICLE STALLS ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN AND AM AFRAID OF A STALL HAPPENING RESULTING IN A CRASH. THE FUEL GAUGE IS NOT WORKING. ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF. DEALER SAID IT WAS A BAD BRAKE MODULE. AND WOULD NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY.
