I HAVE A 2005 GMC ENVOY AND THE GAS LIGHT AND FUEL TANK GAUGE ARE MALFUNCTIONING. WHEN WE FILL UP WITH GAS THE EMPTY GAS REMAINS ON FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND THEN ONLY MOVES TO 1/4 OF A FULL TANK. LATER IT WILL MOVE UP, BUT WILL DRIVING IT WILL JUST DROP TO EMPTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BEGAN TO DISPLAY IMPROPER READINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS RESET. AFTER A FEW WEEKS, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTIONS AND WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY. WHEN VEHICLE IS FILLED TO FULL TANK LEVEL, THERE IS A CLICK SOUND AND THE GAUGE GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE EMPTY POSITION, THEN WARNING LIGHT AND VERY LOW FUEL INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON. THIS IS THE 2ND GM VEHICLE I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH. ONCE THE WARRANTY EXPIRES EVERYTHING STARTS TO GO WRONG SUCH AS FUEL PUMP/SENSOR, RADIATOR/FAN MOTOR, A/C, FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS. THE MORE I TRY TO MAINTAIN THESE VEHICLES THE MORE PROBLEMS. I WILL PURCHASE A HONDA, NISSAN, TOYOTA NEXT TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. A LETTER WAS SENT TO THE MANUFACTURER WHO IN RETURN, CALLED THE CONTACT AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000. UPDATED 07/08/11 *BF UPDATED 07/18/11
FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT GO ABOVE 1/8 TANK. SPEEDOMETER "STICKS" USUALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND WHEN STOPPED DOES NOT RETURN TO ZERO THEN WHEN VEHICLE IS MOVING AGAIN THE NEW SPEED IS ACCUMULATING ON "STUCK" SPEED. SOMETIMES SPEEDOMETER "STICKS" BEFORE REACHING STEADY SPEED AND WHEN VEHICLE IS STOPPED THE READING IS BELOW ZERO IN THIS SCENARIO WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING AGAIN THE "REGISTERED" SPEED IS BELOW ACTUAL SPEED. AS I DRIVE 1,000 MILES A WEEK, IT IS QUITE IMPORTANT TO KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL I HAVE IN MY TANK AND OF COURSE HOW FAST I AM TRAVELING. *KB
ON REGULAR BASIS WOULD ADD 10 GALLONS PER FILL UP, THEN DURING A LONG TRIP FILLED THE TANK COMPLETELY: WHICH THEN THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWED EMPTY. THEN WENT UP TO ABOUT HALF. NOW AFTER 10 GAL. FILL THE GAUGE READ EMPTY OR ABOUT 1/4. HAVE NOT NONE MUCH AFTER LEARNING THIS IS A VERY COMMON GM PROBLEM. FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE (DRIVING 27 YEARS) RAN OUT OF GAS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY 4WAY INTERSECTION, HONEST TRUTH. DO NOT WANT TO HAVE MY FAMILY IN CAR AFTER THIS INCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY XL 370. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FRACTURED IGNITION SWITCH AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,931. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
PLEASE ADD OUR VEHICLE WITH A GAS GAUGE THAT IS FAULTY. CONDITION BEGAN LAST FALL AND WE JUST ESCAPED RUNNING OUT OF GAS THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED. FUEL LIGHT INDICATES THAT THE FUEL IS EMPTY OR NEAR EMPTY WHEN IN REALITY IT IS FULL OR NEAR FULL. JUST THE OPPOSITE HAPPENS WHEN THE LIGHT INDICATES FUEL IS IN THE TANK WHEN IN REALITY, IT IS ALMOST EMPTY. OUR LOCAL MECHANIC WAS NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE REPAIR COULD APPROACH $150. WE NOW REFUEL WHEN THE TRIP ODOMETER HITS 300 OR SO MILES.
THE FUEL GAUGE ON MY 2005 GMC ENVOY FAILED TO CORRECTLY REPORT THE QUANTITY OF GAS IN THE TANK STARTING AT ABOUT 30,000 MILES. IT ALWAYS REPORTS A VALUE THAT I KNOW IS WILDLY INACCURATE, AND EVEN SETS OFF THE LOW FUEL ALARM WHEN I KNOW THE TANK IS NEARLY FULL. I STOPPED RELYING ON THE GAS GAUGE A LONG TIME AGO, BECAUSE THAT WOULD INEVITABLY LEAD TO THE VEHICLE RUNNING OUT OF FUEL CAUSING VEHICLE STALL WITH NO RESTART, WITH OBVIOUS SAFETY IMPLICATIONS. INSTEAD, I FUEL THE VEHICLE ON THE BASIS OF NUMBER OF MILES DRIVEN, AN INHERENTLY FLAWED METHOD WITH HIGHER PROBABILITY OF FAILURE. MY DEALER HAS ADVISED ME THAT REPAIR WOULD COST OVER $400.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED A WARNING SOUND BEGAN TO INDICATE TO THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY AND THE FUEL GAUGE READING INDICATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY. THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL WAS ADDED TO THE VEHICLE BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE FUEL INDICATOR ALSO DISPLAYED A READING THAT FLUCTUATES AND DOES NOT SHOW THE ACCURATE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: DP10001 (FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:STORAGE:FUEL GAUGE SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. THE FUEL GAUGE READS EMPTY WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS FULL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON.
I OWN A 2005 GMC ENVOY XUV WITH APPROXIMATELY 64000 MILES ON IT. THE COMPLAINT I WISH TO REPORT IS A MALFUNCTION WITH THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR HAS STOPPED WORKING AND READS EMPTY CONSTANTLY, EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS FULL OF FUEL. THE SENSOR CHIMES A WARNING SOUND TO INDICATE FUEL IS LOW. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR US FOR 5 MONTHS. WE HAVE SPENT MUCH TIME RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE TO TRY TO REPAIR IT OURSELVES, AND IT HAS SEEMED TO BE AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS DEALERSHIP ATTENTION. I WAS IN PROCESS OF SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT WITH GMC, WHEN A LETTER FROM GMC ARRIVED IN THE MAIL. THEY WERE ABLE TO LOCATE US BY OUR VIN. IN THE LETTER, GMC FULLY ACKNOWLEDGES THE FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR AND OFFERS TO PAY 50% OF REPAIR COSTS AT A CERTIFIED GMC DEALERSHIP. ALTHOUGH I APPRECIATE THEIR OFFER, THE REPAIR WILL STILL BE APPROXIMATELY $200 AT 50%. I AM WRITING TODAY TO LET MY VOICE BE HEARD THAT THE LAST FEW MONTHS DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY CHALLENGING. I HAVE HAD TO BE CONSTANTLY AWARE OF MY EXACT MILEAGE, AND FEARFUL OF RUNNING OUT OF FUEL, STRANDED ON THE INTERSTATE WITH MY FAMILY. TO ME, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT GMC SHOULD REPAIR AS A COURTESY TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE REPUTATION OF AN AMERICAN COMPANY AND AM HOPING THAT OTHERS ALONG WITH US WILL REPORT THIS ISSUE. *TR
PURCHASED NEW FROM DEALER 2005 GMC ENVOY - FUEL GAUGE READS EMPTY - SOMETIMES - IT WILL TELL YOU HAVE MORE GAS - MOST TIMES IT READS EMPTY. I RAN OUT OF FUEL ON SAT 4/30/11 - STUCK GOING UP A HILLED ENTRANCE INTO A MALL. THERE IS NO ACCURATE WAY TO TELL HOW MUCH FUEL LEFT IN TANK. PLEASE FORCE A RECALL FOR GMC INSTRUMENT PANEL PROBLEMS. ISSUE IS WIDESPREAD. *TR
FUEL GAUGE IN MY 2005 ENVOY QUIT WORKING AFTER A FULL TANK OF GAS WAS PUT IN. THE GAGE GOES UP AND DOWN AT ITS OWN WILL. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS A FUEL SENSORY PROBLEM AND WOULD COST AROUND $600 TO FIX. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GMC VEHICLES. ON ONE SITE ALONE I FOUND 500+ COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE. I THINK ITS TIME FOR A RECALL. *TR
IMMEDIATELY AFTER FILLING GAS TANK BEFORE HEADING OUT OF TOWN ON 4/22/11, FUEL GAUGE REGISTERED EMPTY. GAUGE HAS BEEN ACTING ERRATICALLY FOR THE PAST WEEK NOW. NEWS REPORT OF NHTSA INVESTIGATION MADE ME AWARE THAT I COULD REPORT THIS SOMEWHERE. OIL PRESSURE GAUGE HAS ALSO BEEN ACTING SIMILARLY ERRATIC, STARTING A FEW DAYS BEFORE FUEL GAUGE BEGAN MALFUNCTIONING.

FUEL GAUGE NEVER READS CORRECTLY EVEN AFTER TANK IS FUEL GAUGE DOESN'T REGISTER ANYMORE THAN HALF A TANK WHEN MOVING, ANYTIME VEHICLE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP THE GAUGE GOES TO EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT COMES ON. ALSO GAUGE NEVER READS THE SAME AT ANY TIME VERY INCONSISTENT. *TR
FAILURE OF FUEL GAUGE RESULTING IN STALL IN TRAFFIC, DEALER REPAIR REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF SENDER, FUEL PUMP AND FUEL FILTER ALL LOCATED IN FUEL TANK. *TR
THE GAS GAUGE STARTED FAILING. IT STARTED MARKING RANDOM FUEL VALUES WHICH WERE COMPLETELY INCORRECT. IT WOULD MARK HALF A TANK WHEN IT WAS FULL. IT WOULD RANDOMLY JUMP TO DIFFERENT SETTING AFTER EACH START. AND FINALLY IT GOT STUCK ON EMPTY WITH THE EMPTY LIGHT ON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD READ EMPTY WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL AND THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD READ FULL WHEN THE TANK WAS EMPTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED FOR THE FAILURE OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY XL 370. AFTER ADDING FUEL TO THE VEHICLE TO ITS CAPACITY THE FUEL GAUGE DID NOT DISPLAY THAT THE TANK WAS FULL. THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD THEN DISPLAY VARIOUS IMPROPER READINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 67,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING IN APRIL 2011. SHOWING EMPTY EVEN WHEN FULL. TOOK TO DEALER. MENTIONED I HEARD TRAILBLAZERS ALSO HAVING ISSUE. WAS TOLD NO RECALLS. HAD TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. FINALLY GOT NOTICE CAN GET PORTION OF MONEY BACK. IT TOOK MONTHS TO GET PORTION OF MONEY BACK. I HAD TO KEEP FOLLOWING UP EVEN THOUGH THEY CONFIRMED THEY HAD MY PAPERWORK. STRIKE 1. HAD CAR IN FOR 100,000 MILE SERVICE, 9/24 - 9/25/2012, ONLY TO GO BACK LATER BECAUSE OF CAR SEEMING TO NOW HAVE ISSUES ACCELERATING AND CAR WAS NOT RESET AFTER OIL CHANGE. TOLD NEEDED ENGINE MOUNTS. DISPUTED THIS AS SEEMS STRANGE CAR WAS RUNNING AND SOUNDING FINE BEFORE 100K MILE SERVICE. WENT BACK AND FORTH WITH DEALER.TOOK CAR BACK TO HAVE MASTER TECH CHECK AND ALSO BECAUSE OIL GAUGE STUCK IN ONE SPOT. WENT IN 12/31/2012. WAS QUOTED REPAIR PRICE FOR OIL SENSOR AND NOW REPAIR QUOTE NOT ONLY HAS ENGINE MOUNT REPLACEMENT BUT ALSO QUOTED TRANS MOUNT REPLACEMENT. REALLY....REFUSED REPAIR. STRIKE 2 AND 3. BTW, ALSO NEEDED NEW TIRES. I WENT TO OTHER DEALER APPROXIMATELY 35 MINUTES AWAY INSTEAD TO GET TIRES. ON 3/5/2013, ON WAY HOME NOTICE SPEEDOMETER SHOWING ABOUT 90 MILES EVEN THOUGH GPS SAYS I'M ONLY DOING ABOUT 67. EXITED INTERSTATE, SHUT CAR OFF AND TURNED BACK ON. NO CHANGE. GOT HOME, TURNED CAR OFF. SPEEDOMETER STUCK AT 20 MILES. MORNING OF 3/6/13, STARTED CAR, SPEEDOMETER STUCK AT 7 MILES. WORKED FULL DAY. GOT HOME AND IT WAS BACK TO ZERO AFTER TURNING CAR OFF. CURRENT ODOMETER IS APPROXIMATELY 106,102. THESE PEOPLE NEED TO OWN UP TO THEIR MISTAKES AND ERRORS. WE SPEND ENOUGH MONEY WITH THEM. GRASS MAY NOT BE GREENER WITH OTHER MAKE VEHICLE BUT CUSTOMER SERVICE GOES A LONG WAY!!!!! WILL TAKE A LOT TO GET ME TO BUY ANOTHER GMC OR SIMILAR VEHICLE. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS NO LONGER MEASURING MY SPEED, AND WAS STUCK ON 70MPH. THE NEEDLE REMAINED THERE, OCCASIONALLY LOWERING ITSELF IN 5MPH INCREMENTS AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, BUT THEN GETTING STUCK AGAIN WHEN DRIVING. THE NEEDLE GENERALLY BURIES ITSELF AT 120+ AND DOES NOT READJUST EVEN BY SMALL INCREMENTS ANYMORE. MY FUEL GAUGE IS ALSO NOT WORKING, READS ON E REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE TANK, I WONDER IF THESE TWO PROBLEMS ARE CONNECTED? *TR
2005 GMC ENVOY - GAS GAUGE MALFUNCTION - THE GAS GAUGE WILL REGISTER EMPTY EVEN THOUGH YOU JUST FILLED UP THE TANK. AFTER YOU DRIVE FOR SEVERAL MILES IT STARTS TO REGISTER SLOWLY, BUT DOES NOT REGISTER ACCURATELY. *KB
FUEL GAUGE SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY AFTER FILL UP. MOVES FROM EMPTY, TO 1/2 FULL, TO 1/4 FULL TO EMPTY, BACK TO 1/4 FULL, BACK TO EMPTY. I CAN'T DETERMINE HOW MUCH GAS IN MAY TANK. THIS COULD CAUSE ME TO UNEXPECTEDLY RUN OUT OF GAS WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS APPARENTLY A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN GMC ENVOY AND CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZERS. THERE IS NO WARNING IN THE OWNERS MANUAL OR SUGGESTION THAT THE GAUGE AND SENSORS BE REPLACED. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR - BETWEEN $600 AND $900.
2005 GMC ENVOY XL HAS SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE BATTERY AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES ARE READING OFF THE SCALE PAST THEIR MAXIMUM READINGS. IT SHOULD ALSO BE NOTED THAT THIS VEHICLE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THE FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT AND THE ENGINE THERMOSTAT. *TR

WHILE DRIVING I LOOKED DOWN TO CHECK MY SPEED AND WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THE SPEEDOMETER READING 120 MPH. WHILE DOING RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I FOUND THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT WAS SETTLED IN 2008 BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE WAS NOT LISTED AS COVERED IN THE SUIT. I FEEL IT SHOULD BE COVERED AS MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE ONES COVERED IN THE SETTLEMENT. UNDER THE SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT GM WOULD PROVIDE THE CLUSTER AT NO COST TO ME AND I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LABOR COST.
FUEL LEVEL SENSOR READS FULL AND GOES TO EMPTY BACK AND FORTH AND TURNS ON CHECK ENGINE LIGHT . THIS OCCURES WITH ANY AMOUNT OF FUEL IN TANK FULL TO EMPTY. HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS GM WILL NOT STAND BEHIND PARTS . MY CONCERNE IS WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON HOW WILL I KNOW IF SOMETHING ELSE IS TO FAIL , SUCH AS BRAKES EXT. TALKED TO GM COMPLAINT DEPT. AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD NO KNOWLEDGE . YEA RIGHT. SEEMS MOST GM SUV'S ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM . *TT
I OWN A 2005 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE I NOTICED THAT THE FUEL LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THIS INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LOW ON FUEL, BUT IN REALITY, THE VEHICLE WAS FULL OF GASOLINE. I NOTICED THAT WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS FULL, THE GAUGE WILL DISPLAY HALF OF A TANK. WHEN HALF OF A TANK OF FUEL IS IN THE VEHICLE, THE GAUGE DISPLAYS THAT IT IS EMPTY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,500. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED AFTER REFUELING THE FUEL TANK TO THE FULL CAPACITY LEVEL, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD REGISTER AN EMPTY FUEL TANK. THE INACCURATE READING WAS CONSISTENT. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAULTY FUEL TANK AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN IN FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 66,000. UPDATED 06/17/11 *BF UPDATED 06/30/11
2005 GMC ENVOY GAS GAUGE READS EMPTY WHEN RECENTLY FILLED UP AND CONSTANTLY FLUCTUATES UP AND DOWN. APPARENTLY THE FUEL TANK LEVEL SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE AND COULD RESULT IN THE VEHICLE UNKNOWINGLY RUNNING OUT OF FUEL, STALLING AND BEING REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. *TR

FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY. THE READING ON THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT REFLECT THE AMOUNT OF GAS IN THE TANK. GAUGE MOSTLY READS EMPTY EVEN AFTER FILLING UP. SOMETIMES IT WILL SHOW THERE IS MORE GAS THAN IS ACTUALLY IN THE TANK.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FUEL GAUGE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I WAS GETTING MY TANK FILLED WITH GAS AND THE FUEL GAUGE NEEDLE PEGGED OUT PAST FULL, THEN BOUNCED DOWN TO EMPTY. IT DID THIS THREE TIMES THEN WENT BACK TO FULL. SINCE THEN IT HAS CONTINUED TO BOUNCE AROUND. THE ONLY WAY WE KNEW IF WE HAD ENOUGH GAS WAS TO FILL IT AND USE THE TRIP METER. THE FUEL GAUGE HAS CEASED TO MOVE AT ALL SINCE APRIL 2011. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON CONTINUOUSLY AS WELL SINCE THE INCIDENT. I LOVE THE VEHICLE BUT IT IS A MAJOR PAIN TO KEEP TRACK OF THE FUEL WHEN 3 PEOPLE IN THE HOUSEHOLD RELY ON IT. I LOOKED ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL, ONLY TO LEARN THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. I PRICED A NEW CLUSTER AND IT WAS OVER $500. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE STILL HAVE TO KEEP TRACK OF THE FUEL WITH OUR TRIP METER. GM SHOULD STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND FIX THIS ISSUE. THEY HAD NO PROBLEM TAKING A BAILOUT. MY FAMILY HAS BEEN BUYING GM PRODUCTS FOR YEARS, HOWEVER, NO ONE IN MY FAMILY WILL EVER OWN ANOTHER GM PRODUCT IF THEY CAN'T DO THE RIGHT THING FOR THEIR CONSUMERS, AND DO IT NOW. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED FOR A FAILED INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE FUEL GAUGE ON MY 2005 GMC ENVOY READS EMPTY AND THE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THERE IS PLENTY OF GASOLINE IN THE VEHICLE. I CAN FILL THE VEHICLE UP, OR ONLY PUT $20 IN, AND THE FUEL GAUGE WILL STILL FLUCTUATE BETWEEN EMPTY AND THE AMOUNT OF ACTUAL GAS IN THE VEHICLE. IT READS EMPTY MOST OF THE TIME. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATION AS A DRIVER NEVER REALLY KNOWS HOW MUCH GASOLINE THEY HAVE IN THEIR TANK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY XLT. THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD DISPLAY AN INACCURATE EMPTY READING AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED THE FUEL FLOATER VALVE IN 2009 FOR THE EXACT FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ONCE AGAIN WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY ANY REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE CONTACTS EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
THOUGH I HAD 1/4 TANK OF GAS IN MY CAR, I PUT IN 13.5 GALLONS OF FUEL. WHEN I TURNED ON THE ENGINE, INSTEAD OF THE GAS GAUGE SHOWING FULL, THE INDICATOR DROPPED DOWN TO EMPTY AND THE "LOW FUEL" LIGHTS WENT ON. THIS CONTINUED WITH THE INDICATOR SHOWING 1/4 FULL, EMPTY, FULL, EMPTY UNTIL SEVERAL DAYS LATER, WHEN IT SETTLED AT 3/4 FULL. EVERY TIME I HAVE ADDED FUEL TO THE GAS TANK, THE SAME THING HAPPENS. I HAVE BEEN FORCED TO WRITE DOWN MY MILAGE AND KEEP TRACK OF HOW FAR I HAVE DRIVEN IN ORDER TO ESTIMATE WHEN I NEED FUEL. I CANNOT TRUST WHAT THE GAUGE READS.

REPLACE FUEL SENSOR ALSO RECOMMEND FUEL PUMP MODULE REPLACE AT THE SAME TIME SINCE FUEL TANK WAS OFF VEHICLE ESTIMATE FOR SERVICE $324.88 TAX INCLUDED TO REPLACE FUEL PUMP MODULE PARTS AND LABOR $800.00. VERY COSTLY SINCE ON SET INCOME JUST SERVICE ENVOY REPLACE FUEL SENSOR TOTAL AMOUNT DUE $740.34. RECEIVED LETTER FROM GENERAL MOTORS 8/9/2011 REIMBURSING CHARGES OF 50% ONLY FOR FUEL SENSOR CHARGES PAID. YEAR TO DATE CONTINUAL PROBLEMS WITH FUEL GAUGE READING, RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP ON FEBRUARY 10, 2011 DID EXPLAIN FUEL GAGE READING WERE INACCURATE, SERVICE TECHNICIAN PLACED ON SCOPE & SCANNED FOR MALFUNCTIONS STATED NO PROBLEMS FOUND. PERSONALLY UPSET FOR THE AMOUNT PAID THINKING GM ONLY CARES ABOUT LABOR CHARGES AND PRICE ON PARTS CONTRIBUTES TO THEIR PROFIT NO LOSSES. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NO LONGER THEIR PRIORITY.TODAY SPEEDOMETER OPERATES INACCURATE READS OVER 150+MILES, OIL GAUGE IS LOCKED, RPM GAUGE INACCURATE FLUCTUATES BACK & FORTH, FUEL GAUGE READS FUEL PRESENT ACTUALLY EMPTY INDICATOR LIGHT DISPLAYS EMPTY OR INOPERATIVE STOPS SUDDENLY CONFUSING ME ADDING FUEL ESPECIALLY WITH TODAYS PRICE. WATER TEMP GAUGE READS VEHICLE OVER 180 DEGREES SO INCORRECT. THIS WAS FIXED ONCE UNDER WARRANTY AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS OCCURRED I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR. ON 1/31/2011 MY 2005 GMC ENVOY SHOWED MY GAS WAS DOWN TO A QUARTER OF A TANK. I STOPPED TO FILL UP BEFORE A SNOW STORM CAME IN AND PUT 16 GALLONS OF UNLEADED FUEL INTO MY TANK. IMMEDIATELY AFTER MY GAS GAUGE WENT TO EMPTY AND MY GAS LIGHT CAME ON. IT WENT UP TO A QUARTER OF A TANK AND THEN WENT BACK DOWN AGAIN. IT IS STILL SHOWING EMPTY, WITH THE GAS LIGHT ON, AND I KNOW IT HAS A FULL TANK OF GAS. *TR

DROVE AND IT WOULD GO UP AND DOWN. PARKED OVERNIGHT AND RESTARTED THE NEXT DAY AND GAUGE READ LOW FUEL AND INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON. DROVE A LITTLE THEN GAS LEVEL WENT TO NORMAL AND STARTED FLUCTUATING. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF. *TR
