FUEL LEVEL SENSOR QUIT WORKING
GMC ENVOY 2006 FUEL GAUGE READS INCORRECT FUEL LEVEL BEGINNING ON 8 JUNE 2010 (THE VEHICLE HAD LESS FUEL THAN THE FUEL GAUGE STATED IT HAD). PROBLEM PERSISTS THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE MONTH AND INTO JULY. BEGINNING ON 15 AUG 2010, FUEL GAUGE WOULD CONSTANTLY CHANGE READINGS FROM E TO F AND VICE VERSA FOR A FEW DAYS IMMEDIATELY AFTER EACH FILL-UP. *TR
1) FUEL GAUGE READS EMPTY- HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS. BEGAN AS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, BUT NOW IS ALWAYS ON EMPTY. 2) POWER STEERING: MAKES A WHIRRING SOUND WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL - BEAMAN GMC SERVICE IN NASHVILLE HAS THE DETAILED RECORDS, BUT I BROUGHT IT IN BEFORE FOR THIS, AND IT WAS REPAIRED TEMPORARILY, BUT THE SOUND HAS BEEN BACK AGAIN FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON... FUEL GAUGE SAYS EMPTY... BELL INDICATES NO FUEL. THIS COMES ON RIGHT AFTER I FUEL UP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD READ EMPTY WHEN SHE REFUELED THE FUEL TANK TO CAPACITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED A FAULTY FUEL GAUGE AND ADVISED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000. UPDATED 07/26/11 *BF UPDATED 08/03/11
INACCURATE AND/OR ERRATIC FUEL LEVEL INDICATION, DUE TO FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT, CAN RESULT IN VEHICLE RUNNING OUT OF FUEL WITH NO WARNING TO THE DRIVER ULTIMATELY RESULTING AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION WITH POSSIBLE DANGER TO THE DRIVER, PASSENGER AND SURROUNDING VEHICLES AND PEDESTRIANS. *TR
GAUGE DOES NOT WORK ENGINE GAS LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. GAS CAP INDICATOR IS ON AND OFF. CHANGED ON 3RD GAS CAP. *TR
SUBMISSION FROM CONSTITUENT RE RECALLS-2006 GMC ENVOY. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED, HER HUSBAND WAS DRIVING, WHEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE STALLED. HE WAS ABLE TO COAST SAFELY TO A STOP. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RE-START, AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. ACCORDING TO THE INVOICE, THE IGNITION CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. ALSO, ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED, AND REMAINED ON FOR DAYS. THE CONSUMER REFERENCED RECALL # 06V417000. *JB UPDATED 06/10/14 *JB UPDATED 10/14/14 *JB
DRIVING WHEN THREE LIGHTS SHOWED UP ON INSTRUMENT PANEL STABILITRAK, CHECK ENGINE AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT CAME ON THE ENVOY COMPLETELY TURNED IT SELF OFF. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES THEN STARTED THE CAR. IT STARTED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS THE ONLY LIGHT ON. I GOT HOME AND RESTARTED CAR ALL LIGHTS DISAPPEARED. NEXT DAY DRIVING THE SAME THING HAPPEN. THREE MORE TIMES ON THE WAY TO MECHANIC THE ENVOY TURNED ITSELF OFF. FIND OUT THE PROGRAMMABLE CONTROL MODULE PCM WAS DEFECTIVE. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED AS A CERTIFIED USED VEHICLE 07/08. I THEN FIND OUT THE PART IS READILY AVAILABLE AND NOT A SPECIAL ORDER. THEY REFURBISH THIS PART WITH A ONE YEAR WARRANTY. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT GMC WOULD ENGINEER A CAR TO ENTIRELY SHUT DOWN WHEN DRIVING THIS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS HAD I BEEN ON THE FREEWAY GOING 65 MPH, ALSO THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AS IT IS NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE. THE CODES THAT SHOWED UP WERE APPARENTLY NOT COVERED BY GMC. WITH THIS PART BEING READILY AVAILABLE I MUST NOT BE THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS HAD THIS HAPPEN. THIS WAS A COSTLY REPAIR, AND I FEEL THAT SOMEONE SHOULD LOOK TO SEE IF THIS HAS HAPPEN TO OTHERS, BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. *TR
THE PROBLEM WITH MY 2006 GMC ENVOY IS EVERYTIME I TURN THE AC/HEATER ON THERE IS A FOUL ODOR EMITTING FROM THE VENTS FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO TO THREE MINUTES. I CONTACTED GMC THEY STATE THAT THE PROBLEM IS OCCURRING BECAUSE I LIVE IN A HIGH HUMIDITY AREA OF THE COUNTRY AND THAT A DRYER NEEDED TO BE ADDED TO THE VEHICLE FOR 800 DOLLARS AND THEY COULD ONLY OFFER TO TAKE HALF OF THE PRICE. I STATED TO THE REPRESENTATIVE THAT THIS IS NOT ON THE VEHICLE THAT I BROKE THAT THIS PROBLEMS SEEMS TO HAVE DEVELOPED SOMEWHERE IN THE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE VEHICLE WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO TAKE ON THE RESPONSIBILITY OF REPAIRING IT WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 65 MPH, THE POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCH CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE VEHICLE COULD BE REPAIRED BUT THE PART NEEDED TO MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR ANOTHER SIX MONTHS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 65,000. UPDATED 11/03/10. *LJ
IN EARLY 2010 MY 2006 GMC ENVOY BEGAN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE FUEL GAUGE IMMEDIATELY AFTER A FILL UP. THE GAUGE READS EMPTY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON THEN THE GAUGE WILL RISE AND FALL FOR THE NEXT 50 TO 100 MILES. *TR
ON MAY 3RD 2010, THE TRUCK JUST DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING HOME WITH MY SON AT NIGHT. I HAD TO QUICKLY TRY TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT ANY POWER ASSIST. THE ENVOY WOULD NOT START AGAIN, NOT EVEN TURN OVER. THE SHIFTER WAS LOCKED AND IT COULD NOT EVEN BE PUT INTO NEUTRAL TO PUSH IT OVER TO THE SIDE. VARIOUS MESSAGES SCROLLED BY ON THE VEHICLE DISPLAY AND MANY OF THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE DIMLY BLINKING. I HAD TO GET IT TOWED. I SCANNED THE FOLLOWING CODES P1516 & P1682, LOOKED UP THE SYMPTOMS ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND MANY HITS THAT SAID THE ISSUE WAS WITH A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. AFTER CHARGING UP THE BATTERY WHICH RAN DOWN ON THE HAZARDS WHILE WAITING AN HOUR FOR A TOW, I REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE ENVOY NOW WORKS AGAIN. IT HAS LESS THAN 30,000 MILES ON IT. THIS TYPE OF FAILURE CONCERNS ME VERY MUCH! I CONSIDER IT A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT A VEHICLE CAN DIE WHILE DRIVING AND THEN BE SO COMPLETELY DISABLED BY A $30 PART. THIS COULD OF HAD MUCH MORE DIRE CONSEQUENCES HAD IT HAPPENED ON A FREEWAY AS OPPOSED TO A SUBURBAN SIDE STREET. *TR
FUEL GAUGE FAILURE. *TR
MICHELIN CROSS TERRAIN TIRES HAVE DEVELOPED SIDEWALL CRACKS IN ALL 4 TIRES. THE TIRES HAVE 23,750 MILES ON THEM. THEY ARE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES ON 2006 GMC ENVOY. THEY WERE TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED MICHELIN TIRE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY DID ACKNOWLEDGE THE CRACKS. THEY IN TURN CALLED MICHELIN WHO SUPPOSEDLY AUTHORIZED A 55% CREDIT TOWARDS A NEW SET OF TIRES. IF MICHELIN ALSO ACKNOWLEDGES THE DEFECT, THEN THESE TIRES SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPLACED. *TR
ERRATIC FUEL GAUGE PROBLEM STARTED AT 110,000 MILES ON 2006 GMC ENVOY SLE AWD AND WAS NOTED ON A DEALERSHIP VISIT. UNFORTUNATELY NOW HAS 150,000 MILES WHEN THE . VEHICLE HAS RUN OUT OF FUEL ON FREEWAY WITH WIFE AND CHILDREN, AND ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. IT HAS REQUIRED NUMEROUS AAA CALLS FOR FUEL OVER THE PAST YEARS AND HAS CREATED A MANY HOURS OF INCONVENIENCE AND LOST OF WORK. ME AND MY WIFE HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON THE ROADSIDE OVER 15 TIMES DUE TO FAULTY FUEL READINGS. PROBLEM HAS BEEN TOO COSTLY TO REPAIR SO WE HAVE TO NOW RELY ON RESETTING THE TRIP ODOMETER. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT SHOULD BE MORE THAN A SAFETY BULLETIN FOR ONLY VEHICLES UP TO 120,000 MILES. THIS IS A FARCE TO THE GMC AND CHEVY OWNER COMMUNITY. IS THE NHTSA WAITING FOR PEOPLE TO DIE BEFORE MAKING THIS A TOTAL RECALL TO PAY FOR REPAIRS FOR ALL OWNERS OF THESE PRODUCTS? THIS IS A FAILED DESIGN THAT MUST BE CORRECTED FOR PUBLIC SAFETY SAKE. PLEASE WORK WITH THE MANUFACTURERS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE FAIRLY, EQUITABLE, AND HONESTLY. THANK YOU. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY DENALI. WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED HEAD INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT A REPRESENTATIVE WOULD BE SENT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
GMC ENVOY DENALI XL 2006 FUEL GAUGE ISSUE. 1ST INCIDENT - FUEL GAUGE SHOWED 1/4 TANK GAS AVAILABLE WHILE TRAVELING IN I-70 IL WHEN VEHICLE RAN OUT OF GAS WHILE TRAVELING AT 65MPH PASSING SEMI TRUCK. OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND ME HAD TO REACT TO IMMEDIATE SLOW DOWN OF OUR VEHICLE. MANAGED TO SUCCESSFUL PULL OVER TO VERGE OF ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT. NOT REALIZING FUEL GAUGE WAS FAULTY A WEEK LATER SIMILAR SITUATION OCCURRED - RAN OUT OF GAS AS I WAS PULLING UP TO AN INTERSECTION - LIGHTS HAD JUST TURNED RED AND I WAS UNABLE TO APPLY ENOUGH PRESSURE TO BRAKES AS WE WERE HEADING DOWNHILL THAT I WENT THROUGH RED LIGHT AND 2 CARS HAD TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID CRASHING IN TO ME. 2 YOUNG CHILDREN IN CAR AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT. REALIZING THERE WAS AN ISSUE - ENTIRE FUEL PUMP SYSTEM WAS REPLACED - TOTAL COST OVER $800. *TR
APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO, THE FUEL GAUGE STARTED READING INACCURATELY AND SHOWING EITHER A FULL TANK OR AN EMPTY TANK. FINALLY IT JUST WENT TO THE EMPTY SIDE OF THE GAUGE. I USED THE ODOMETER TO ESTIMATE GAS USAGE AND NEVER LET IT GO OVER 300 MILES W/O A FILL UP. WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE, THE REPAIR SHOP DROPPED THE FUEL TANK AND REPLACED THE FUEL SENDING UNIT, THE BILL WAS APPROXIMATELY $400.00. *TR
2006 GMAC ENVOY. UPON FILLING GAS TANK TO FULL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY. GAUGE WILL FLUXUATE BETWEEN EMPTY AND FULL FOR 10-20 MILES. THEN IT WILL SHOW FULL AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF. FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS IT WILL SWING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN FULL AND EMPTY. THEN IT SEEMS TO WORK, ALTHOUGH I'M NOT SURE, IT JUST DOES NOT SWING QUICKLY. I THINK THIS IS A SEVERE HAZARD...WHAT IF I WAS GOING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN AND IT SHOWS 1/2 TANK, BUT RUNS OUT OF GAS. STEERING WOULD BE IMPAIRED AND AN ACCIDENT COULD RESULT. *TR
DRIVING TO WORK AT 5 AM ABOUT 3/4 OF MILE FROM HOME, AUTO SLOWED, HEADLIGHTS DEEMED SLIGHTLY, RPM'S FELL. BARELY ABLE TO COAST AUTO TO SIDE OF ROAD. CALL FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. WHILE TALKING TO AGENT I OPEN DOOR AND SMELLED GASOLINE. AGENT INFORMED ME TO CALL FIRE DEPARTMENT TO ENSURE AUTO SAFE TO MOVE. FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND SAID FUEL WAS STILL DRIPPING FROM AUTO, BUT THEY DID SPREAD SOMETHING ON FUEL AND WAITED UNTIL ROLLBACK REMOVED AUTO. AUTO WAS TAKEN TO GM DEALER FOR REPAIRS. WHEN NOTIFIED OF REPAIR COMPLETION I WENT TO DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME I MUST HAVE RAN OVER SOMETHING THAT PULLED FUEL LINE OFF, AND THAT IT WAS A 1 IN A MILLION EVENT. I DID NOT RUN OVER ANYTHING SO I DID NOT BELIEVE THIS STATEMENT. I RESEARCH AND FOUND OTHER HAVE HAD SAME PROBLEM. I AM WORRIED BECAUSE ON THE REPAIR TICKET IT STATES CUSTOMER STATES GAS LEAKING AS SOON AS THE KEY TURNED WAS ON, CHECKED AND FOUND QUICK CONNECT LINE PULLED APART IN FRONT OF FUEL TANK. RECONNECTED LINE ALL CHECKS GOOD AT THIS TIME. I DID NOT STATE FUEL WAS LEAKING AS SOON AS KEY WAS TURNED ON. I WAS DRIVING AND ALMOST UNABLE TO GET AUTO TO ROADSIDE. VERY DANGEROUS AND IF THE ONLY REPAIR WAS TO RECONNECT A LINE THAT HAD FALLEN OFF, IT SEEMS VERY LIKELY TO HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR
GAS GAUGE READS EMPTY AFTER FILLING, THEN SLOWLY MOVES UP AFTER DRIVING BUT WILL CONTINUE TO LOSE PRESSURE UNTIL IT READS EMPTY AND THE LIGHT IS ON, THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY DENALI. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS SEEMED TO REFLECT OFF THE WINDSHIELD WHICH HINDERED HIS DRIVING ABILITIES. WHENEVER IT RAINED, SNOWED OR WAS FOGGY OUTSIDE, THE HIGH BEAMS AND FOG LIGHTS WOULD ALSO REFLECT OF THE WIMDSHEILD AND BLIND HIM WHILE HE WAS DRIVING. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE HIGHBEAMS WERE SUPPLIED WITH BRIGHTER BULBS. WHEN HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, HE WAS TOLD THAT WHAT HE WAS EXPERIENCING WAS A NORMAL FUNCTION OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT FEEL THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS A PART OF THE PROBLEM; INSTEAD, HE FELT THAT THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,700. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,800.
2006 GMC ENVOY FUEL GAUGE BEGAN BEHAVING ERRATICALLY MARCH 14, 2010. AFTER REFUELING, GAUGE READS EMPTY. USUALLY RECOVERS AFTER DRIVING 10-25 MILES. DIFFICULT TO KNOW IF REFUELING NECESSARY. VEHICLE WARRANTY RECENTLY EXPIRED. IT APPEARS THERE ARE NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND IT IS EXPENSIVE ($700 - $800) TO REPAIR. WE LIVE IN A RURAL AREA AND OFTEN DRIVE ROUTES WITH 20 TO 60 MILE STRETCHES WITHOUT SERVICE STATIONS. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. PLEASE INVESTIGATE FAULTY MECHANISM. *TR
I OWN A 2006 GMC ENVOY AND MY DAUGHTER HAD GONE OUT TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF THE BACK. SHE CLOSED THE HATCH AND WAS STANDING THERE TALKING TO MY BROTHER-IN-LAW AND THE NEXT THING YOU KNOW, THE WHOLE BACK EXPLODED OUT! IT WAS HORRIFYING. IT SOUNDED LIKE A BOMB GOING OFF! MY DAUGHTER WAS SHATTERED WITH GLASS BUT FORTUNATELY WAS NOT INJURED. *TR
2006 GMC ENVOY - FUEL GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE TANK. SINCE I HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH FUEL IS REMAINING, I HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS SEVERAL TIMES, INCLUDING A COUPLE ON THE INTERSTATE. THE PROBLEM STARTED AROUND OCTOBER OF 2008, BUT COSTS ALMOST $700 TO FIX, STARTED AT 37500 MILES SO IT WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY, AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF POSTINGS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM STATING IT'S A DEFECT WITH THE FUEL PUMP. *TR
BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR HAS FAILED TWICE IN THREE MONTHS. THE SECOND TIME THE 7-WIRE HARNESS FROM THE CONTROLS THAT SELECTS MOTOR SPEED HAD SLIGHTLY MELTED AROUND THE COMMON WIRE. I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE TO BE A FIRE HAZARD. *TR
FUEL LEVEL ERRATIC THEN WAS ON EMPTY REPLACED SENSOR -OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED. TH CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ADVISED THAT SHE TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
GAS GAUGE STUCK ON EMPTY AFTER 65,000 MILES ON 2006 GMC ENVOY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO COMES ON ERRATICALLY. *TR
I OWN A 2006 GMC ENVOY, IN 2007 THE FUEL SENSOR STOPPED WORKING AT APPROXIMATELY 20K MILES, SO I COULDN'T TELL HOW MUCH GAS I HAD, WHEN FULL IT REGISTERS AS EMPTY, IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED AND THEN THE FUEL LINE CAME APART WHILE I WAS DRIVING. NOW I AM ONCE AGAIN HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE FUEL SENSOR, THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 80K MILES. I HAVE CONTACTED GM, BUT THEY ARE OF NO HELP. UPON CHECKING THE MESSAGE BOARDS THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF ENVOYS & TRAILBLAZERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO, AT AROUND 42,000 MILES, AFTER FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK, THE FUEL GAUGE STARTED FLUCTUATING FROM FULL TO EMPTY. FOR A FEW MONTHS THIS WOULD ONLY HAPPEN WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS ABOVE FULL, BUT LATELY THE FUEL GAUGE WILL DROP TO EMPTY FOR LONGER PERIODS OF TIME AND AT ANY FUEL TANK LEVEL NOT JUST WHEN IT IS FULL. I PURCHASED MY 2006 ENVOY BRAND NEW IN 2006 FROM WYATT JOHNSON IN CLARKSVILLE TN . THE REAR AIR SUSPENSION BAGS GAVE OUT IN 2010, THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY SO I TOOK MY SUV TO GET REPAIRED AT WYATT JOHNSON, I ONLY PAID THE DEDUCTIBLE OF $150. IN JAN OF 2012 I NOTICED THAT THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE WAS TAKING A LONG TIME TO AIR UP AND I ASSUMED THE SAME PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED IN 2010 WAS OCCURRING AGAIN. ON OCT 2012 I TOOK MY SUV TO GREINER BUICK GMC DEALERSHIP IN VICTORVILLE, CA AND WAS TOLD THE REAR AIR SHOCK HAD WENT OUT AGAIN AND THE REPAIRS WOULD COST ABOUT 1600, THE DEALERSHIP IS WILLING TO PAY THE COST AND I WILL HAVE TO COME OUT OF POCKET $785. I CALLED GM MOTORS BECAUSE THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT EVEN AFTER I GET IT REPAIR THIS IS AN ITEM THAT I WILL HAVE TO KEEP AN EYE ON AS LONG AS I HAVE THE SUV. WHEN I WAS SOLD THE VEHICLE THE SALES MAN SPOKE VERY HIGHLY OF THE AIR LIFT AND I WAS NEVER AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS AND HEAD ACHE THAT COULD OCCUR FROM HAVING A VEHICLE WITH THIS FEATURE. I FEEL IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD AND I FEEL AS THOUGH PAYING FOR IT TO GET REPAIRED IS NOT THE ANSWER I NEED TO BE ABLE TO EXCHANGE THIS VEHICLE FOR ONE THAT WILL NOT HAVE THE SAME RECURRING PROBLEM AGAIN. *TR

MY 2006 GMC ENVOY STARTED EXPERIENCING GAS GAUGE PROBLEMS. AFTER A FEW CALLS AND FINDING A WEBSITE CALLED TOPIX.COM, I SEE OVER THREE HUNDRED COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, MANY ALSO AT FIXYA.COM. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE FIX AND MOST CAN NOT AFFORD THIS UNLESS IT IS UNDER WARRANTY, WHICH I FIND MOST ARE NOT. *TR
HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE ALTERNATOR REPAIRED THREE TIMES. FIRST TIME 65,000 MILES BECAUSE OF NOISE. SECOND TIME VOLTAGE REGULATOR THIRD TIME REAR BEARING. HAD TO HAVE THE ONBOARD COMPUTER REPLACE AT 90,000 MILES VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AND WOULD NOT RESTART. TOWED. *TR

INCORRECT FUEL LEVEL READING MAY RESULT IN THE VEHICLE RUNNING OUT OF FUEL WITHOUT WARNING TO THE DRIVER
DRIVING AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD REGISTER FULL, THEN WOULD REGISTER EMPTY, THE LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE, AND THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD NOT WORK AGAIN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC, I WAS INFORMED THAT I HAD A BAD FUEL SENSOR. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND URGE THE SAFETY ADMINISTRATION TO FORCE GM TO ISSUE A RECALL. THE SAFETY FACTOR, IS RUNNING OUT OF FUEL WITH NO WARNING ON A STREET OR HIGHWAY AND NO SAFE WAY TO PULL OFF THE ROADWAY OUT OF HARMS WAY.

IT SEEMS THAT MY VEHICLES FUEL SENDING UNIT IS DEFECTIVE AFTER ONLY 40,000 MILES AND THROUGH FURTHER INVESTIGATION I FOUND THERE ARE MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS LINE OF VEHICLES THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THIS IDENTICAL PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT WILL COST OVER 800.00 TO REPAIR THIS WITH NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I THINK THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE RECALLED AS MOST OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE ARE QUITE UPSET THAT THEY HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS DEFECTIVE PART TO BE REPLACED. *TR
I HAVE HAD 2 PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST ONE WAS AT 28000 MILES, ABOUT 3 WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. THE RESISTOR FOR THE HEAT/AC FAN CAUGHT FIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 5 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE FIRE WENT OUT ON IT'S OWN BY THE TIME I HAD ROOM TO PULL OVER (ABOUT 15-20 SECONDS). I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE PART REPLACED RIGHT AWAY SO I HAD TO DRIVE AROUND IN COLD AND ICY CONDITIONS WITHOUT EVEN BEING ABLE TO RUN THE DEFROSTER. THE SECOND PROBLEM WAS THAT AT ABOUT 32000 MILES MY GAS GAUGE BROKE. I HAD JUST FILLED THE TANK AND WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 65 ON THE HIGHWAY. THE GAS GAUGE NEEDLE DROPPED TO EMPTY AND STAYED THERE. I MADE SURE THAT I WAS NOT LEAKING GASOLINE AND CONTINUED ON MY WAY. IT WORKED INTERMITTENTLY FOR A WHILE BUT IS NOW COMPLETELY BROKEN. WHEN I FILL UP MY TANK THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON FOR THE FIRST 25-100 MILES AND THE GAUGE READS EMPTY WITH THE FUEL LIGHT ON. I AM UNCOMFORTABLE WITH USING THE 4WD OR TOWING VERY MUCH BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH I KEEP TRACK OF MILES DRIVEN THESE THINGS EAT UP MORE FUEL. I DON'T WANT TO RUN OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN IT FIXED BECAUSE OF THE REPAIR COST.
VEHICLE HAS BEEN LOSING VOLTAGE WHEN CAR IS STARTED AND IN IDLE POSITION. WHEN CAR IS DRIVING THE VOLTAGE IS ALWAYS READING OK BUT WHEN YOUR AT A STOP LIGHT THEN ALL THE INSTRUMENT LIGHTS DIM AND THE BATTERY GETS DOWN TO 10 AND SOMETIMES THE CAR STARTS TO STALL. BROUGHT THE CAR TO DARCY MOTORS IN JOLIET, IL AND THEY SAID ITS NORMAL AND THE ENVOYS EXPERIENCE THIS. I DON'T BELIEVE THIS AND THE CAR IS 3 YRS OLD AND HAS 80K FOR MILES AND ITS BEEN RUNNING FINE UP UNTIL THE PAST 2MO SINCE WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS. WE EVEN WENT TO SEARS AND PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY AND IT STILL HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS. I BROUGHT THE ENVOY TO AUTOZONE AND PEPBOYS AND BOTH PLACES CHECKED THE ALTERNATOR, BATTERY AND ALL CABLED AND CONNECTIONS AND ALL TESTED GOOD. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS BUT GMC NEEDS TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE ASAP. *TR
