FUEL SENDING UNIT FAILURE. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 42,000 MILES ON IT. MANY FORUMS LIST THIS AS A PROBLEM, SO IT IS OBVIOUSLY A COMMON DEFECT, YET GM WILL NOT ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE FUEL LIGHT (GAS GAUGE) READS EMPTY AND THE INDICATOR LIGHT STAYS ON CONSTANTLY. THE DEALER SAYS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, BUT IT NOT UNDER RECALL BY GMC, SO THE FIX WOULD BE NEARLY $350.00. GM IS AWARE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE 2007 ENVOY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL GAUGE SENSOR FAILED. THE GAUGE WOULD DISPLAY THE FUEL AT LOW LEVELS WHENEVER SHE WOULD REFUEL THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED BUT AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,143.

GMC HAS KNOWN THAT THEY HAVE INTERMITTENT STABILITRAK SYSTEM SINCE OCT 1-2008. DON'T KNOW IF IT ACTUALLY SHUTS OFF ABS BRAKES OR JUST SETS INDICATOR LIGHTS OFF. COMES ON MORE FREQUENTLY IN COLD MONTHS. TSB #08-05-25-005 WHY SHOULD CONSUMER PAY FOR EITHER DEFECTIVE STEERING YOKE YAW SENSOR, REPROGRAMMING OR NEW $400 EBCM OR $250 DEALER SERVICE CHARGE EACH TIME IT COMES UP. IN WINTER, ANOTHER ARTICLE SAID IT WAS BAD CONNECTORS. THAT WOULD BE A MFG DEFECT AS WELL. ALWAYS COMES UP IN SHARP SLOW SPEED TURNS. ALREADY PAID FOR TWO FRONT HUBS AS THEY SAID IT WAS THE SPEED SENSOR, PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. BRAKING OR KNOWN STABILTRAK PROBLEM OVER SEVERAL YEARS SHOULD WARRANT A RECALL NOT TSB WHERE THE COST IS ABSORBED BY THE VEHICLE OWNER.,
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ENVOY. THE FUEL GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL INACCURATELY DISPLAYS THE AMOUNT OF FUEL PRESENT IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE FOR HER MODEL TYPE. HE THEN ADDED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, SO SHE WAS INELIGIBLE FOR A FREE REMEDY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 39,200. SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 6, 2009 MY WIFE WHO IS 8 MONTHS PREGNANT WAS INVOLVED IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT AS WELL AS OUR 4 YEAR OLD SON IN OUR 2007 GMC ENVOY. SHE DID NOT SEE A VEHICLE AS SHE WAS CROSSING A HIGHWAY AND WAS HIT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE JUST BEHIND THE DRIVERS DOOR. THE VEHICLE THAT COLLIDED WITH HER WAS TRAVELING OVER 60 MILES PER HOUR AS MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING ONLY ABOUT 5 MILES PER HOUR AS SHE JUST STARTED THROUGH A STOP SIGN. THE CAR DID 2 COMPLETE 360 DEGREE TURNS AND THEN FLIPPED OVER ON ITS SIDE. THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED DURING THE IMPACT AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP ON ITS SIDE. *TR
FUEL SENDING UNIT IS DEFECTIVE AFTER 40,000 MILES. TANK READINGS INACCURATE. I LIVE IN AN URBAN AREA WHERE IT IS NOT SAFE TO BE OUT OF FUEL AND BROKEN DOWN ON SIDE OF ROAD. DEALER ADMITS THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON FOR GM ENVOY/RAINER/TRAILBLAZER - NUMEROUS ONLINE FORUMS LIST THIS AS A DEFECT - YET GM DOES NOTHING TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. I WAS SO HAPPY TO READ ONLINE THAT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION IS FINALLY CHECKING INTO THE PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GAUGES ON 2007 GMC ENVOYS. I STARTED TO HAVE A PROBLEM JUST BEFORE MY ENVOY WAS 3 YEARS OLD AND ABOUT TO GO OUT OF WARRANTY. THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAD A PROBLEM IT STALLED WHEN I STOPPED AT A LIGHT AFTER EXITING I-95. THE NEXT DAY IT STALLED WHEN I WAS COMING OFF OF I-95. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THE THROTTLE MECHANISM NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. HAD THE SERVICE DONE AND IT STILL WAS STALLING. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY KEPT IT FOR 3 DAYS AND SAID THAT BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT FIND A CODE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND IT WOULD BE TOO COSTLY FOR THEM TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER. THE CAR CONTINUES TO STALL OUT JUST WHEN MY GAS TANK IS GETTING LOW (1/4 OF A TANK OR LESS). IT SEEMS TO BE OKAY WHEN IT IS RUNNING AT A HIGH SPEED BUT WHEN I SLOW DOWN ON AN EXIT OR COME TO A STOP IT STALLS. SOMETIMES THE ENGINE WILL REV AND THEN CATCH AND SOMETIMES IT WILL STALL OUT. SOMETIMES IT JUST QUIETLY QUITS --- NOTHING SHOWS UP ON THE DASH - NO LIGHTS OR GAUGES SHOW ANYTHING. I HAVE NOTICED THAT MY MILES REMAINING IS USUALLY MUCH LOWER AFTER IT STALLS THAN BEFORE. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GM AND I WAS MADE TO FEEL LIKE I WAS A FOOL. THEY INSISTED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG AND THAT THEY HAD NO COMPLAINTS. THE DEALER ALSO TREATED ME THE SAME WAY. I HAVE CONSIDERED GETTING RID OF THE CAR BUT I BASICALLY LIKE IT AND WORK AROUND THE PROBLEM BY NOT LETTING THE GAS TANK GO BELOW 1/4. I HOPE THAT YOUR ORGANIZATION WILL BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING TO HELP. IT REALLY IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND COULD CERTAINLY RESULT IN A REAR END COLLISION. PLUS I PAID A LOT OF MONEY AND HAVE A RIGHT TO EXPECT THAT WHEN THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH A GMC PRODUCT GMC WOULD KNOW HOW TO FIX IT.. *TR

2007 GMC ENVOY ENTIRE ELECTRICAL (INSTRUMENT AND IGNITION) FAILURE AND SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. PLACED IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART WHILE ON THE ROLL, LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKING ABILITY. *TR
FUEL SENSOR FAILED ON VEHICLE LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD BUT PAST WARRANTY. SYMPTOMS WERE FUEL GAUGE FAILED TO WORK OR WORKED INCORRECTLY AND ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. I WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH GAS WAS IN TANK. HAD TO PAY $630 FOR PARTS AND LABOR TO REPLACE FUEL SENSOR SINCE I AM 5K MILES OVER THE 36K WARRANTY. *TR
REPEATED, INTERMITTENT FAILURES OF STABILITRAK SYSTEM IN 2007 GMC ENVOY DENALI WITH V-8 ENGINE. PROBLEM HAS EXISTING THROUGHOUT FIRST 37,000 MILES OF VEHICLE. DEALER (TULLEY GMC, NASHUA, NH) REPORTS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY CAUSE OR FIX.
SENDING UNIT INSIDE OF GAS TANK: WHEN FULL OF GAS, GAUGE SAYS BELOW EMPTY & GAS LIGHT COMES ON. WHEN 7/8 FULL TO ALMOST EMPTY GAS GAUGE READS CORRECT, WHEN EMPTY GAS GAUGE READS 2ND TO LAST LINE, CAR RUNS OUT OF GAS & NO GAS LIGHT COMES ON. WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AT 50 MPH AND RUN OUT YOU COULD CRASH. WHEN CAR IS PARKED FOR 4+MIN. GAUGE GOES BELOW EMPTY & FUEL LIGHT COMES ON. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ENVOY 360. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT BEGAN TO SMELL SMOKE. HE NOTICED THE SMOKE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL. HE PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND CALLED 911. BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED, THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS ELECTRICAL DUE TO THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
MALFUNCTIONING GAS GAUGE 2007 GMC ENVOY CAR ONLY HAS 20,000 MILES. HAS TO BE A DEFECT. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP. SOLD CAR AS IS NO WARRANTY! *TR
ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING DOWN AN INCLINE WITHOUT ANY INDICATION UNTIL APPLYING THE BRAKES TO FIND THE POWER BRAKES HAD BEEN LOST. WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE SLICK AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SPIN AND COULD NOT BE CORRECTED DUE TO LOSS OF POWER STEERING. VEHICLE COULD NOT BE SLOWED USING THE LOWER ENGINE GEARS. ONCE THE VEHICLE COASTED TO A STOP, THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN PARK, TURNED THE KEY TO THE ENGINE-OFF POSITION AND THEN ON. ONSTAR DIAGNOSTICS DID NOT DETECT ANY PROBLEMS IN SYSTEM TESTS. FUEL LEVEL WAS APPROX. 3 GALLONS. ***************************************************************************************************THE FAILURE ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT OF RUNNING OVER A PEDESTRIAN AND COLLISION WITH OTHER VEHICLES (NO CONTROL AND NO WARNING FROM THE VEHICLE SYSTEMS OF STALL). THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT; INITIAL INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE LEAVING INCLINED DRIVEWAY - POTENTIAL OF ENTERING ROADWAY. MY CHILD WAS RIDING AS A PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE FOR BOTH INCIDENTS. *************************************************************************************************** *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ENVOY 360. ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SWITCHED FROM 2 WHEEL DRIVE TO 4 WHEEL DRIVE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING AN ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE FAILURE, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,400.
FUEL GAUGE STARTED NOT WORKING PROPERLY. INITIALLY IT WOULD SHOW HALF FULL WHEN FILLING UP, THEN THE GAUGE STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY CAUSING ME TO BE STRANDED ON THE INTERSTATE. THE COST INVOLVED TO FIX IT AT THE DEALERSHIP WAS TOO HIGH SO I HAVE CHOSEN TO CALCULATE MY MILEAGE WHEN I FILL UP. *TR
I STARTED MY GMC ENVOY SO THAT IT MAY WARM UP. AS IT WAS WARMING UP I STARTED TO SMELL SMOKE. I HIT THE ONSTAR BUTTON AND WAS SPEAKING TO THE CUSTOMER REP WHEN THE SMOKE GOT HEAVY AND SPARKS CAME FROM THE DRIVERS DOOR PANEL. I IMMEDIATELY BACK THE CAR OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT MY HOUSE TO BURN IN CASE THE CAR WENT UP IN FLAMES. THE ONSTAR REP CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WHO CAME AND RIPPED APART THE DOOR PANEL, DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND PULLED OUT A BURNED WINDOW HARNESS UNIT. THE FIRE CHIEF SAID THAT IT WHAT STARTED THE FIRE. THE TOW TRUCK CAME AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHERE I WAS TOLD I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE THE WARRANTY WAS OVER, MIND YOU THIS IS A 2007 GMC. WHEN I TOLD HIM IT WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND IT DID NOT MATTER WHETHER OR NOT I HAD WARRANTY OR NOT GMC SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE. HE SAID THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY IF I WANTED MY CAR FIXED. I HAD TO RENT A CAR BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT EVEN HONOR THEY'RE 5 YEAR 100K MILE COURTESY CAR WARRANT AND I HAD TO PAY ALMOST $1000.00 APART FROM THE RENTAL TO HAVE MY CAR REPAIRED. WHEN I FINALLY GOT MY CAR BACK THE RECEIPT CONFIRMED WHAT HAPPEN. THE SERVICE MANAGER EVEN STATED THAT THE FIRE STARTED FROM THE WIRE HARNESS AND THERE WAS A SHORT SOMEWHERE IN THE CAR THAT THEY HAD TO REPAIR AS WELL. MY CAR HAS NOT BEEN MODIFIED IN ANY WAY. *TR
2007 ENVOY- DECIDED TO ROLL DOWN PASSENGER WINDOW TO LET FRESH AIR IN, CABLE MECHANISM FOR PASSENGER WINDOW BROKE IN HALF WINDOW FELL DOWN THE DOOR, WINDOW IS NOW BEING HELD UP BY DUCT TAPE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, NOTHING IS WRONG WITH VEHICLE, THE LOW FUEL LIGHT IS ON CONSTANTLY EVEN WHEN IT HAS A FULL TANK. THIS IS A 2007 ENVOY WITH ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS, HAS BEEN GREAT VEHICLE SINCE 2 WEEKS AGO WHEN IT GOT EXTREMELY COLD AND ALL THE PROBLEMS OCCURRED. *TR
ON OCTOBER 20 THE 2007 I PURCHASED A 2007 ENVOY SUV FROM RAMEY FORD IN TAZEWELL VA. ON OCTOBER 27, 2007 I HAD BACKED INTO MY DRIVE WAY PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK HAD THE KEYS IN MY HAND AND WALKED AROUND THE VEHICLE TO GET MY DAUGHTER OUT OF THE CAR SEAT. THIS IS WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ROLLING I THEN JUMPED IN THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AND TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE BEFORE I COULD STOP THE VEHICLE WE (MY DAUGHTER AND I) WERE OVER A FIVE-FOOT ROCK WALL INTO THE BUSHES MY FATHER STOOD THERE AND WATCHED THE WHOLE ACCIDENT. MY LEGS WERE HANGING OUT OF THE VEHICLE I WAS VERY BRUISED UP. THANK GOD THAT MY DAUGHTER HAD NOT BEEN UNBUCKLED FROM HER CAR SEAT. AFTER MY FATHER CHECKED TO SEE IF WE WERE OKAY I HANDED MY FATHER THE KEYS AND HE MOVED THE VEHICLE THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE DASH IN THE PARK POSITION ( I HAVE PICTURES) THE DASH LIGHTS WERE READING PARK BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD MOVE AS THOUGH IT WAS IN DRIVE. AFTER MOVING THE VEHICLE THE KEYS WOULD NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. WHEN I WRECKED AND MOVED THE VEHICLE THERE WAS SAND EVERYWHERE ON THE SCENE FROM THE VEHICLE IT WAS LIKE BEACH SAND. MY QUESTION IS WHY DID THE KEYS COME OUT OF THE IGNITION IF THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN PARK AND NOW THAT THE KEYS ARE IN THE IGNITION YOU CAN DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN THE PARK POSITION AND THE KEYS WILL NOT COME OUT????? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ENVOY 360. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TAIL GATE FAILED TO STAY IN PLACE WHEN IT WAS SHUT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE LATCH FAILED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,700 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,680.
I BOUGHT A 2007 ENVOY 10 MARCH 2007. WHEN THE WEATHER GOT WARM I TRIED TO USE MY AC. THIS IS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 5,000 MILES AND THE AC DIDN'T WORK. I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD IT WAS FIXED. WHEN WE WENT ON A TRIP AND ARRIVED IN FL AND IT HEATED UP, THE AC DIDN'T WORK. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS REPAIRED I WAS TOLD IT WAS A SENSOR. THE NEXT TWO TIMES THEY REPLACED THE COMPRESSOR. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS COOL WHEN WE LEFT AND I TRIED THE AC AND IT WAS COLD. I HAD TO TAKE IT IN 3 TIMES BEFORE IT WORKED CORRECTLY. NOW IT IS GETTING HOT AGAIN AND I THINK I AM GOING TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS ONLY 70 AND MY 1997 CHEVY CAVALIER COOLS BETTER THAN MY 2007 ENVOY. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT HAVE ONLY RECENTLY BEEN RESOLVED. EACH TIME I TOOK IT IN I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I HAD A LEAK IN THE REAR COMPARTMENT, THE DRIVERS SEAT WOULD NOT ADJUST SOMETIMES AND THE STABILITRAK CONSTANTLY GAVE ME A SERVICE LIGHT. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 1 YEAR OLD. *TR

I TOTALED MY 2004 GMC ENVOY ON BLACK ICE, I HIT MY NEIGHBOR PRETTY MUCH HEAD ON. MY AIR BAG DID NOT GO OFF NOR DID MY SEAT BELT HOLD MY IN PLACE, I REPORTED THIS ACCIDENT AND DYSFUNCTION TO GM AND AFTER THEIR INVESTIGATION THEY SAID THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS COULD BE, WE BOUGHT THE ENVOY NEW THE AIR BAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED AS WELL AS THE SEAT BELT SHOULD HAVE LOCKED ME IN PLACE, AS IT WAS I HIT THE WIND SHIELD, HAD SWELLING IN MY BRAIN, I ALSO HIT THE TOP OF THE ENVOY AND CAME DOWN AND HAVE TWO CRUSHED VERTEBRAE IN MY BACK STILL TO THIS DAY, I HIT THE DRIVERS DOOR AND THEN BROKE THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE CENTER CONSOLE WITH MY BODY, AGAIN BECAUSE THE AIR BAG DID NOT GO OFF NOR DID THE SEAT BELT HOLD ME IN PLACE.
