2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR ANTI-LOCK BRAKE FAILURE ON GMC 2000 SIERRA 1500 FOR CORROSION, 7/1/2004 AND 10/6/04. REPLACED HUBS. VIN 2GTEK19T8Y127
DT: THE CONTACT STATES THERE ARE TWO NHTSA RECALLS CAMPAIGN #05V379000 AND 05V161000 CONCERNING THE ANTILOCK BRAKES AND THE PARKING BRAKE. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALLS, BUT IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS DUE TO VIN. *AK UPDATED 12/27/2005 - THE ABS LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AND THERE IS NO ABS. THE PARKING BRAKE HAS NOT WORKED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON 8/12/2003. *NM
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT. CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MECHANIC WAS WAITING FOR CONFORMATION APPROVAL TO REPLACE THE BRAKES PADS. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER MORE THAN ONCE, AND THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING A 5 MPH CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THEY FAILED. THERE WAS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE, AND CONSUMER'S VEHICLE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE WHICH WAS PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP. AND A TECHNICIAN UNPLUGED THE ANTILOCK BRAKE FUSE. *AK
DT: 2000 GMC SIERRA PICKUP. ALL OF THE ROTORS AND BRAKES WERE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER CURRENTLY HAD TO REPLACE THE SENSORS FOR THE ABS. THE DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT. THE ABS LIGHT WOULD COME ON WHEN IT SHOULDN'T. THE WHEEL SENSORS WERE BAD. OVER THE COURSE OF 6 MONTHS, THE CONSUMER HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES FOR $1, 000. *AK AFTER REPLACEMENT, THE CONSUMER HEARD A CLUNKING SOUND. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOUND THAT RUST HAD FALLEN INTO THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. *SC
SEATBELT UNLATCHES WITHOUT DRIVER EFFORT- SEVERAL INSTANCES GM STATES THIS IS AN "OUT-OF POCKET" REPAIR. *AK
ABS LIGHT WENT ON DURING NORMAL OPERATION. ABS PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WITHIN 3 MONTHS, ABS WERE ENGAGING AT VERY LOW SPEEDS DURING STOPPING, CAUSING MANY NEAR-ACCIDENTS. ABS MODULE REPLACED BY DEALER. PROBLEM PERSISTED, DEALER REPLACED WHEEL SPEED SENSOR. *JB
THE REAR ROTORS PREMATURELY WORE OUT. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK GMC STATED THAT THIS WAS NORMAL WEAR. THE ROTORS HAD METAL FLAKING THAT WAS BELOW LEGAL TOLERANCE. *SC *JB
WHILE APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE. AFTER APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL NUMEROUS TIMES THE VEHICLE JUMPED AND SURGED FORWARD. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES ABS BRAKE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. THIS CAUSED A LOSS OF BRAKE POWER. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE PRESSURE MODULATOR VALVE WAS NOT FUNCTIONAL, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
FAILURE OF THE ABS SYSTEM ON MY 2000 GMC SIERRA PICKUP. ABS WOULD ACCTIVATE AT SLOW SPEEDS AND WOULD MAKE STOPPING TRUCK VERY HARD.HAD TO DE ACTIVATE ABS SYSTEM SO TRUCH WAS USEABLE.DEALER STATED THAT PROBLEM WAS DUE TO REGION OF COUNTRY THAT THE TRUCK WAS USED IN AND WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM!
DT: THE ABS SENSOR IN BRAKE SYSTEM HAS BECAME A PROBLEM. IT HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE BUT NOW IT IS A PROBLEM AGAIN. UNDER 5 MPH THERE IS A TOTAL LOSS OF THE BRAKES. COSNUMER FEELS THIS IS A SAFETY RELATED DEFECT. HAS BEEN TO DEALER FOR REPAIR FOR THE FIRST INCIDEN.T WAS PAID FOR OUT OF POCKET BY CONSUMER, AND NOW CONSUMER MUST PAY FOR THIS 2ND REPAIR AGAIN. DID CONTACT GM MANUFACTURER AND SUGGESTED TO TAKE TO A DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER NOTED THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH ABS WHEEL SPEED SENSOR AND IT NEEDED REPLACED. *AK
AFTER DRIVING THROUGH 12 INCES OF SNOW FOR APROX. 100 FEET, A THUMPING NOISE STARTED IN THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL AREA. TWO MECHANICS CHECKED IT AND SAID IT WAS NOTHING. AFTER 2 MONTHS THE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT FAILED, WAS REPLACED AND THE SOUND STOPPED. SHORTLY AFTER WE STARTED HAVING TROUBLE STOPPING AT SLOW SPEEDS, THE ABS WOULD KICK THE PEDAL UP, AND THE STOPPING DISTANCE AT 10 MPH BECAME 50 -100 FT. WHEEL SENSOR BEARING WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $800. THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR WINDOW LEAKS AIR, THE DOOR WEATHERSTRIPING ON BOTH SIDES FALL OFF ON A REGULAR BASIS.THE GAS GUAGE SOMETIMES READS EMPTY WHEN THE TANK IS JUST FILLED, AND SOMETIMES BOUNCES FROM PLACE TO PLACE. THE DRIVERS SIDE PWR WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED AND PULLED THE GLASS OUT OF THE TRACK. PWR MIRROR SWITCH FAILED CANNOT ADJUST MIRRORS EXCEPT TO THE LEFT AND UP. DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS BLOW BULBS CONSTANTLY. TIRES HAVE STRANGE WEAR, ONE LUG HIGH, ONE LUG LOW, ALL FOUR TIRES, PROPERLY INFLATED.BACK DOOR DOESN'T LATCH IN COLD WEATHER, DRIVERS DOOR LATCH FROZE OPEN THIS WINTER. WASHER FLUID SWITCH ONLY WORKS WHEN PUSHED "BEYOND NORMAL" POSITION. REAR VENTS IN CONSOLE WON'T CLOSE. AND THE WHOLE TRUCK VIBRATES VIOLENTLY AT SPEEDS ABOVE 55 MPH HARD TO HOLD ON, HAVE TO SLOW DOWN AND PULL TOWARD SIDE OF ROAD TO AVOID ACCIDENT. HAPPENS MANY TIMES PER DAY.
ABS ACTIVATING EVEN ON DRY PAVEMENT WITH MODERATE BRAKING, SIGNIFICANTLY EXTENDING BRAKING DISTANCES
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
ANTILOCK SYSTEM ENGAGES WHILE COMING TO A SLOW STOP HAPPENS ALMOST CONSTANTLY. THROTTLE STICKS ON INITIAL CONTACT. *AK
WHEN I WENT IN FOR OIL CHANGE AT 66,000 MILES I WAS TOLD THE PARKING BRAKES WERE WORN OUT. SINCE I DO NOT USE THES THEY MUST HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE.WILL REPLACE WHEN CAN MAKE THE 100 MILE TRIP TO DEALER THAT FOUND PROBLEM. DEALER WHERE PURCHASED WOULD NOT OTHER FIX PROBLEMS WHEN VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY.SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW IN MARCH OF 2000 THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS FOUND TO BE CRACKED THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD SLIP AT START ALMOST HIT THREE TIMES BEFORE FIXED, THE DRIVESHAFT WAS BAD THE DIFFERIENTIAL WAS PUT IN AT WRONG ANGLE THE BACK WINDOWS LEAKED AIR AND WATER THE GAS PEDAL HAS BEEN WORKED ON TWICE IS STARTING TO STICK AGAIN REPORTED THIS TOYOU IN AUG 2002 STILL NO RECALL. FOUR PICES OF TRIM FELL OFF AIR CONDITIONER SWITCH WAS REPLCED TWICE HEAT SHEILD WAS INSTALLED WRONG CAUSING DASH TO VIBRATE.CLEARLY GM IS MAKING SOME VERY DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS.WHEN THE ORIGINAL DEALER WOULD NOT GET PROBLEMS REPAIRED I ASKED GM FOR HELP I HAD TO FIND A DEALER TO HELP ME ON MY OWN.MOST OF THESE PROBLEMS WERE FIXED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. THREE OF THEM ARE SATY PROBLEMS THE TRNSMISSION TOOK OVER A YEAR TO GET RESULTS AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A ACCIDENT ANY TIME GM KNEW OF THIS.I NOW AM GETTING A KNOCK OUT OF SECOND ENGINE. I WILL PUT DOWN TODAYS DATE BECAUSE THESE PROBLEMS OCCURED OVER SUCH A LONG TIME.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM MALFUNCTION
WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED AT 10 MPH , THE BRAKES FAILED TO OPERATE. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND RUST COVERING THE FRONT WHEEL SENSOR, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE. FOUR MONTHS PRIOR, THE ROTORS DETERIORATED BECAUSE OF THE TYPE OF FACTORY METAL USED. THE DEALERSHIP CLEANED THE FRONT WHEEL SENSOR, WHICH CORRECTED THE BRAKE FAILURE. *AK THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD BECOME HARD AND PUSHED BACK. THIS WAS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS AT LOW SPEEDS. *SC *JB
NHTSA #04V129000 GM RECALL #04007 MY VIN:[XXX] GM TELLS ME THAT MY TRUCK IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. GM'S RECALL NOTICE THAT I SEE ON MYGMLINK.COM AFTER ENTERING MY VIN STATES "ON SOME OF THESE VEHICLES, THE GALVANIZED STEEL TAILGATE CABLE THAT SUPPORTS THE TAILGATE IN THE FULL OPEN POSITION MAY CORRODE, WEAKEN, AND FRACTURE." I HAVE GALVANIZED STEEL CABLES WHICH ARE CORRODED AND WEAKENED. ONE FRACTURED ABOUT A YEAR AGO, THE OTHER IS CLOSE TO BREAKING. I CONTACTED GM ABOUT GETTING TEMPORARY REPLACEMENTS THAT THEY ALSO STATE IN THE RECALL. THIS IS WHEN THEY TOLD ME THAT MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. MY QUESTION IS, HOW COULD IT NOT BE PART OF THE RECALL? I HAVE A 2000 SIERRA AND MY CABLES ARE CORRODED, WEAKENED AND FRACTURED. I WOULD THINK ALL CABLES THAT WERE MANUFACTURED WITH GALVANIZED STEEL HAVE A PROBLEM WITH CORRODING BECAUSE OF MOISTURE. GM EVEN STATES IN THEIR RECALL QUESTION/ANSWER SECTION THAT "MOISTURE AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINANTS MAY ENTER BETWEEN THE METAL STRANDS OF THE CABLE AT EITHER END OF THE CABLE AND IN SOME CASES, THE BLACK PLASTIC SHEATHING MAY BECOME CRACKED OR TORN DURING NORMAL USAGE CREATING A PATH FOR MOISTURE ENTRY. MOISTURE MAY COLLECT AND CONCENTRATE NEAR THE CENTER OF THE CABLE DURING NORMAL USAGE OF THE TAILGATE, THE CABLE IS FLEXED AT THE MIDPOINT. REPEATED FLEXING, PLUS CORROSION CAUSED BY THE MOISTURE AND CONTAMINANTS, MAY WEAKEN THE METAL STRANDS, AND THEY CAN EVENTUALLY SEVER UNDER LOAD." THE FACT IS, THE CABLES ARE BREAKING DUE TO THE GALVANIZED STEEL CORRODING. IT SEEMS LIKE GM IS TRYING TO GET BY WITH REPLACING AS FEW OF THE POORLY DESIGNED CABLES AS THE NHTSA WILL LET THEM GET BY WITH. IF YOU WOULD LIKE DIGITAL PHOTOS OF MY BROKEN/CORRODED CABLES, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE YOU CAN PROVIDE WITH GETTING MY CABLES REPLACED. BUT MORE THEN ANYTHING, I THINK GM SHOULD BE FORCED THE CORRECT THIS ISSUE ON ALL THEIR VEHICLES THAT USE GALVANIZED STEEL IN THEIR CABLES. WHEN DRIVING 10 MPH CONSUMER TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TOWARDS THE RIGHT AND IT LOCKED UP. THE BRAKES WERE ALSO DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. *AK THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THEY DETERMINED THAT THE SHAFT IN THE POWER STEERING PUMP BROKE. THE DEALER ALSO INDICATED THAT THERE WERE METAL PIECES IN THE ABS FLUID WHICH PROBABLY CAUSED THE SYSTEM TO FAIL. *NM
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATED WHEN THE SPEED WAS AT 10 MPH ON HIS 2000 GMC PICKUP TRUCK. THE FRONT WHEEL SENSOR WAS REPLACED ON THE FRONT END. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE ABS WAS INOPERATIVE AND WERE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE OWNER HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR WORK. THIS HAPPENED IN 2004. THE OWNER DID NOT CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER AT THE TIME OF PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER HAS NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE TRUCK SINCE THEN. *JB *SC
WHILE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC AT 5 MPH ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE ABS MODULE NEEDED REPLACEMENT. *AK *NM
I PURCHASED A 2000 GMC SIERRA 9 MONTHS AGO AS A "GMC CERTIFIED USED VEHICLE" FROM A DEALER WITH 33,000 MILES ON IT.NOW, AT ONLY 10,000(NOT HARD) MILES LATER,THE FRONT BRAKE PADS CAME APART & TOOK CHUNKS OF METAL OUT OF BOTH ROTORS,RESULTING IN A $500.00 FRONT BRAKE JOB(NEW ROTORS & PADS).I DON'T THINK 10,000 MILES IS LOT TO ASK FROM A SET OF PADS & ROTORS,THAT THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPT SAID HAD 40% LIFE LEFT @ DELIVERY. *LA
AT 60,000 MILES ROTORS RUSTED, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE . *AK
ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS VEHICLE EXPERIENCED ABS FAILURE. WHEN THIS OCCURRED THERE WAS A 2 SECOND DELAY REACTION BEFORE THE ABS ENGAGED. VEHICLE HAD NO BRAKES FOR 2 SECONDS. *AK WITHOUT WARNING BETWEEN 4 TO 7 MPH, ABS SYSTEM BLOCKS THE BRAKING ACTION WHICH CAUSED AN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. *LA
HEARD A WHINING NOISE AND WOULDN'T SHIFT PROPERLY. IT WOULD ONLY MOVE VERY SLOWLY FORWARD AND WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. *JB
THE BRAKE HUBS WERE COMING APART AND RUSTING. BIG CHUNKS OF RUST WAS FALLING OUT OF THE HUB. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 31,000 MILES. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. BRAKE ROTOR SURFACES FOUND TO BE DELAMINATED AND RUSTY. VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. *TT
ABS BRAKES GOTO FULL RELEASE BELOW 10 MPH UNABLE TO STOP. *AK

CONSUMER OPENED THE TAILGATE AND NOTICED THAT RIGHT SIDE TAILGATE STRAP BROKE. *AK *LA
I JUST BOUGHT A 2000 GMC SIERRA 1500 PICKUP WITH THE 5.3 LITER ENGINE. THE THROTTLE STICKS WHEN YOU START OFF IN IT FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THE ACCELERATOR HAS A TIGHT SPOT IN IT WHEN YOU FIRST PRESS ON IT. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS IF IT STICKS TOO MUCH WHEN IT BREAKS LOOSE THE TRUCK WILL GO FORWARD REAL QUICK AND YOU COULD HIT SOMEBODY OR SOMETHING. SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT THE BUTTERFLY HAD CARBON BUILT UP ON IT AND IT NEEDED CLEANING. I CALLED A GM DEALER AND TALKED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND HE SAID IT WAS REPORTED BEFORE AND HE WOULD CLEAN THE THROTTLE VALVE FOR $90.00. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER AND BESIDES IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN WHEN CARBON BUILDS UP ON IT AGAIN. A PERMANENT FIX NEEDS TO BE PUT IN PLACE AS A RECALL ITEM I THINK. *JB
INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 15 TO 20 MPH AND APPLYING THE BRAKES. PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. *AK
I WENT INTO A SLIDE ON ICE ,SPINNING 180 DEGREES, I CAME TO A STOP WITHOUT HITTING ANYTHING. AFTER I GOT CONTROL I HAD NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. I DROVE THE TRUCK HOME AND INVESTIGATED THE PROBLEM WITH THE HELP OF FRIENDS AND A SPECIFIC REPAIR MANUAL. THE PROBLEM IS THE POWER STEERING SHAFT COMPLETELY SEVERED.*AK
VALVE TAP ON COLD START LASTS APPROXIMATELY ONE MINUTE. GMC CLAIMS IT IS CARBON BUILD UP IN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER AND WILL NOT DAMAGE THE ENGINE. THIS IS UNSATISFACTORY. ANY TAPPING SOUND IS INDICATIVE OF LACK OF LUBRICATION AND WILL PREMATURELY WEAR THE ENGINE OR ITS COMPONENTS PARTICULARLY AFTER WARRANTY RUNS OUT. SEE SERVICE BULLETIN #01-06-01-028A. OR DOCUMENT #1271016 "ENGINE KNOCK ON COLD START". *NM
CONTINUALLY RUSTING, CORRODED, PITTED BRAKE ROTORS REQUIRING FREQUENT REPLACEMENT. REAR ROTORS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, 9/21/01, ODOMETER=7,743. REAR ROTORS REPLACED AGAIN, 1/22/04, ODOMETER=24,612 AT MY EXPENSE. FRONT ROTORS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED (RUSTING HEAVILY) BEFORE NEXT STATE INSPECTION (MAY 04). *LA
INTERMITANT POWER STEERING FAILURE ESPECIALLY LEFT TURNS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING WITH TAILGATE DOWN IT DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. TAILGATE ASSEMBLY WAS NOT REPAIRED. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC SIERRA 2500. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 3-10 MPH THE ABS ACTIVATED WHEN THE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT GO DOWN NO MATTER HOW HE PRESSED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED MOVING FORWARD. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SERVICE BRAKES (RECALL# 05V379000). THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE DISABLED THE ABS BY REMOVING THE FUSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
TAILGATE STRAP ON PASS SIDE OF TRUCK BROKE WHILE TAILGATE WAS DOWN AND TAILGATE ACTUALLY CAME OFF AND DAMAGED TAILGATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AFTER THIS. MY 17 YEAR OLD SON DRIVES THIS TRUCK AND 1 TIMES THIS HAPPENED HE WAS ON A BUSY STREET AND COULD NOT GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DRUG THE TAILGATE ABOUT 1/4 OF A MILE BEFORE HE COULD GET OUT OF TRAFFIC TO REATTACH THE TAILGATE. I HAVE NOT HAD THE TAILGATE REPAIRED, BECAUSE OF THE FEAR OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN AND CAUSING EVEN MORE DAMAGE. I HAVE AT THIS POINT REMOVED THE TAILGATE FROM THE TRUCK UNTIL I CAN FIND A RESOUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM. *AK

TRUCK DRIVE TRAIN MAKES CLUNK NOISE WHEN I FIRST START OFF FROM A STOP, ALSO IN REVERSE. WHEN I STOP AT A RED LIGHT IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE JUST HIT ME FROM BEHIND. IT STARTED AT ABOUT 39000 MILES AND HAS BEEN GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND NOW IT HAS WORN OUT THE BUSHING IN THE TAIL SHAFT OF THE TRANSMISSION ,WOW $32000 DOLLARS FOR THIS TRUCK AND NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS .I AM TRULY SCARED OF THIS TRUCK PLEASE HELP. *JB

MY PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW ROLLS DOWN VERY SLOWLY. I WAS TOLD THAT ALL 1999 GM TRUCKS AND UP WITH POWER WINDOWS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. *LA
PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCK WOULD NOT OPEN WITH THE REMOTE OR MANUAL INSIDE OR OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLES @37000 MILES HAD TO PUT KEY IN DOOR LOCK AND HOLD KEY TO EXTREME LEFT AND PULL HANDLE AT SAME TIME TO GET PASSENGER OUT. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IT IS STILL BROKE. *JB
TAILGATE CABLE FAILURE, I ALWAYS GENTLY LOWER MY TAILGATE HOWEVER I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE BOTH TAILGATE CABLES BECAUSE OEM CABLES FAILED. TAILGATE HAS HAD NO HEAVY LOAD. BOTH OEM CABLES WERE RUSTED THROUGH AT THE MIDPOINT.*AK GMC CLAIMS MY CABLES ARE GOOD AND DO NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. I CALLED GMC COUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD MY TRUCK WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL.
THE TAILGATE CABLES RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKE, CAUSING THE TAILGATE TO DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE. *AK THE TAILGATE WAS BEING LOWERED WHEN THE CABLES UNEXPECTEDLY SNAPPED AND RESTED ON THE BUMPER. THIS HIT THE CONSUMER ON THE LEGS BUT CAUSED NO INJURY. *SCC *JB
WHILE DRIVING, THE BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. *AK THE BRAKES PULSATED AND FELT LIKE PAPER. THE REAR BRAKE ROTORS WERE RUSTED AND HAD COME APART IN SHEETS AND RUINED THE REAR BRAKE PADS. THE FRONT ROTORS RUSTED. *SCC *JB
