THIS BRAKE LINE RUPTURE HAPPENED WHILE MY WIFE WAS @ 15 MPH STOPPING FOR TRAFFIC .HOW SHE MANAGED TO STOP I DON'T KNOW. SHE DOES NOT LIKE DRIVING THIS GMC 2500 HD PICKUP BECAUSE IT IS SCARY FOR HER, AFTER THIS BRAKE LINE RUPTURE SHE WILL PROBABLY NEVER DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AGAIN. THANKS GENERAL MOTORS A BUNCH FOR THE NONEXISTENT WARNING ABOUT THIS COMMON OCCURRENCE. THE GENERAL MOTORS PROFIT MEANS MORE TO THEM THAN THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS PRECIOUS FAMILIES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH IN A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED WHEN SUDDENLY THE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD ABNORMALLY. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE VEHICLE FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. THE CONTACT NOTICED BRAKE FLUID LEAKING ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THERE WAS AN OPEN AND CLOSED INVESTIGATION PERTAINING TO THE SIERRA MODEL UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE10010 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST:HYDRAULIC:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS). THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,000.
BRAKES FAILED DUE TO RUPTURE OF RUSTED BRAKE LINE, NO WARNING LIGHT WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. WAS BARELY ABLE TO STOP BY PRESSING BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. ABS DID NOT ACTIVATE. TOOK VEHICLE TO MECHANIC. MULTIPLE BRAKE LINES RUSTED OUT. *TR
BRAKE LINE RUPTURED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT. HAD TO VEER INTO ADJACENT LANE TO AVOID REAR ENDING TRUCK STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. VERY FORTUNATE! *TR
STEPPED ON BRAKE PEDAL TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK INTO REVERSE,PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR GOT OUT AND FOUND BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING FROM FRONT LEFT OF TRUCK UNDER THE DRIVERS DOOR ON FRAME. LOOKED UNDERNEATH AND SAW SEVERELY CORRODED BRAKE LINES ON OUTSIDE OF FRAME, COULD NOT SEE LEAK AS IT WAS HIDDEN ON TOP OF FRAME,BRAKE LINES TOO CORRODED TO FIX HAD TO REPLACE ALL. I AM VERY GRATEFUL THIS HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WITH OUR 2 KIDS AND THE BRAKE LINE BURST BY THE REAR WHEEL CAUSING THE BRAKES TO FAIL. BRAKES ARE TOO IMPORTANT FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. *JS
WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 40 MPH ON FLAT PAVED ROAD THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN I TESTED THE BRAKE, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE WARNING LIGHT WENT OFF THEN FLASHED BACK ON. ON THE SECOND OR THIRD PUMP THE WARNING LIGHT DID THE SAME THING. AT THAT TIME I HAD REGAINED A VERY SOFT AND LITTLE BRAKE. UPON INSPECTING THE BRAKE SYSTEM IT WAS FOUND THAT THE BRAKE LINE AFT OF THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL, BEHIND THE INTER-FENDER COVER WHERE IT PASSES OVER THE FRAME MEMBER HAD FAILED DUE TO SERIOUS RUSTING AND HAD BURST. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT AN AUTO BODY SHOP FOR UNRELATED REPAIRS, THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME WAS CORRODED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
WHEN MY ISSUES STARTED, I WOULD FILL MY GAS TANK AND THE GAS GAUGE WOULD PLUMMET TO EMPTY. WHILE DRIVING, IT WOULD GO TO FULL, BACK TO EMPTY OR BE ANYWHERE IN BETWEEN. AT THAT TIME, THERE NO NO MECHANICAL ISSUES, JUST THE ANNOYING FACT THAT YOU HAD NO IDEA HOW MUCH FUEL YOU ACTUALLY HAD. THIS WENT ON UNTIL THIS SPRING, WHEN I HAD THE FIRST POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS INCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A COUNTY HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY THE SPEED LIMIT AND THE TRUCK'S ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF. NO POWER STEERING, NOTHING. IT HAPPENED JUST AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP SIGN THANKFULLY. I WAS ABOUT 50 MILES FROM HOME AND WAS ABLE TO CALL A FRIEND THAT MANAGES THE COLLISION CENTER OF A LOCAL CAR DEALERSHIP TO SEE ABOUT GETTING A TOW OR HIS OPINION AS TO WHAT WAS WRONG. AFTER ABOUT TEN MINUTES AND AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS, IT RESTARTED. I TALKED TO SEVERAL MECHANICS AND GOT THE SAME ANSWER FROM ALL OF THEM: THE FUEL PUMP AND SENDING UNIT FAIL IN GMC TRUCKS AROUND THE MILEAGE, 95,000 MILES, THAT I CURRENTLY HAVE ON THE TRUCK. THE GAS GAUGE IS STILL ERRATIC, I HAVE HAD TWO EPISODES OF THE VEHICLE STALLING AND NOW THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT IS COMING ON AND WHEN IT IS PUT ON AN ANALYZER IT SAYS EMISSIONS, BUT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM. I HAVE ALSO TALKED TO OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THEIRS REPLACED AND EVERYONE SAYS TO GET A FACTORY MADE PUMP BECAUSE THE CHEAP AFTERMARKETS BREAK DOWN EVEN QUICKER. I GOOGLED THE INFORMATION AND THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE WIDESPREAD. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING CLOSE TO MY HOME AND WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN ON A COUNTRY ROAD. I WENT TO APPLY MY BRAKES WITH NO RESULT. THE PEDDLE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO LOW GEAR AND FINALLY MADE IT HOME. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TRANSPORTED TO A SHOP FOR REPAIRS. THE COST TO FIX THE BRAKES LINES, MASTER CYLINDER - $1000. NOT HAPPY WITH GMC AND WILL PROBABLY NEVER BUY ANOTHER AMERICAN MADE VEHICLE. I ALSO HAVE A CHEVY TAHOE AND I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THAT VEHICLE AS WELL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FILLER NECK WAS RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,005.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC SIERRA 2500HD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR WITH A DELAYED RESPONSE. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR BECAME COMPLETELY EMPTY DUE TO EXCESSIVE LEAKAGE OF FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEN TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE CORRODED BRAKE LINE. THE IDENTICAL FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,500. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
FIRST POWER STEERING AND HYDROBOOST LINES RUSTS THROUGH. BRAKE LINES RUPTURES IN CRASH DUE TO ACCIDENT. GM NEEDS TO RECALL THEIR TRUCKS AND FIX THE PROBLEM OF THERE FAULTY RUSTLY BRAKE AND POWER STEERING SYSTEM LINES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACTS HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY CONFIRMED THE VIN FAILED TO QUALIFY FOR A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V521000(ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 29,000.
I HAVE A 2001 GMC SIERRA THAT HAS BEEN LOSING COOLANT FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS NOW. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE TRUCKS JUST WANDERING WHY NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. *TR
A SECOND BRAKE LINE RUPTURED AS A RESULT OF RUST CORROSION CAUSING THE BRAKES TO FAIL AT 76,158 ORIGINAL MILES. I NARROWLY AVOIDED A REAR END COLLISION INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE CARRYING A FAMILY WITH CHILDREN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A GM DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED. THE COST ESTIMATE FROM THE GM DEALER TO REPLACE ALL OF THE RUSTED BRAKE PARTS IS $5,125.00 THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT OF BRAKE FAILURE AS A RESULT OF RUSTED OUT BRAKE LINES. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED AT 73,870 ORIGINAL MILES. A CALL WAS MADE TO GMC IN AN EFFORT TO SEEK ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR AMOUNT AND THEY ADAMANTLY REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD PICKUP TRUCK. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH COOPER DISCOVERER ATR TIRES, TIRE SIZE 245/75/16. THE DOT NUMBER WAS 3DCBD0406. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED SEVERE TREAD AND OUTER SIDEWALL SEPARATION ON ALL FOUR TIRES, WHICH OCCURRED PREMATURELY. THE WIRE BELTS WERE VISIBLE IN THE FOUR TIRES. THE TIRES HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. UPDATED 5/7/12 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED ONE OF THE TIRES STEEL BELTS WERE SHOWING AND THE OTHER TIRES HAD RUBBER COMING OUT OF THEM/ ALL THREE TIRES WERE REPLACED.

THE CONTACT STATED WAS DRIVING10 MPH AND ENTERING A RESIDENTIAL DRIVE-WAY WHEN THE REAR BRAKE LINE FRACTURED, CAUSING ALL BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK AND THE CONTACT TO LOSE BRAKING CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE BRAKE AND DISCOVERD THAT ALL OF THE REAR BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED AND EXTREMELY CORRODED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, HE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE COASTED TO A STOP. THE CONTACT EXAMINED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND NOTICED THAT ALL THE BRAKE FLUID LEAKED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE REPLACED THE FUEL LINES AND PUMPS IN THE PAST DUE TO CORROSION. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 150,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE DEPRESSED REPEATEDLY IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A STOP. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT UPON STOPPING, THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO REPLACED BOTH FRONT WHEEL ABS SENSORS. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
STOPPED IN FRONT OF HOUSE AND WHEN ALMOST STOPPED THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD NO BRAKES EXCEPT FOR A VERY SLIGHT "DRAG". I STOPPED AND LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK AND SAW FLUID COMING FROM UNDER THE FRONT OF VEHICLE. IT APPEARED TO BE BRAKE FLUID AND IT WAS TRACED TO A METAL BRAKE RUNNING ACROSS THE FRONT FRAME MEMBER TO THE BRAKE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL. THE LINE WAS EXTREMELY RUSTY AND LEAKING PROFUSELY. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION ALL METAL BRAKE LINES ARE SEVERELY RUSTED AND NEED REPLACED. I HAVE SEEN MANY VEHICLES BUT NONE WITH THIS AMOUNT OF RUST ON EVERY PART OF ALL LINES AND THE FRAME. THIS TRUCK IS 10 YRS OLD AND IS NOW UNSAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL ALL BRAKE LINES ARE REPLACED AT SUBSTANTIAL COST AND EFFORT. AS YOU WOULD EXPECT I AM NOT PLEASED BUT CONSIDER MYSELF VERY LUCKY. I COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE OR MYSELF. PLEASE WARN OTHERS THIS HAZARD EXISTS. *TR
WHILE BLEEDING THE PASS. REAR BRAKES I HAD A VERY SUDDEN LOSE OF PRESSURE ON THE PEDDLE AND THE PEDDLE WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR OF THE TRUCK WHEN PRESSED. AFTER LOOKING UNDER THE TRUCK I NOTICED THAT I HAD A BRAKE LINE RUPTURE ALONG THE FRAME UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION I REALIZED THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES IN THAT AREA WERE VERY RUSTED AND IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT. LUCKILY I WAS NOT DRIVING THE TRUCK AND NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED. *TR
THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT SOFT, THE BRAKE SYSTEM LOST PRESSURE, MAJOR BRAKE FLUID LEAK FROM METAL LINE(S) ADJACENT TO THE ABS PUMP/MODULE ASSY. SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION REVEALED THAT ALL OF THE METAL BRAKE LINE(S), (PIPES), WERE HEAVILY RUSTED AT THE POINT WHERE THEY ARE ROUTED ABOVE THE VEHICLE FRAME, APPROXIMATELY 18" IN FRONT OF THE ABS PUMP ASSY. *TR
I WAS VERY LUCKY MY CHILDREN WERE NOT HURT, THEY USE THE TRUCK ALL THE TIME. I WENT TO MOVE MY TRUCK IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE BRAKES HIT THE FLOOR. I GOT UNDER THE TRUCK AND SAW THAT BRAKE LINES ARE REALLY RUSTED BAD. I HAVEN'T HAD A BRAKE LINE PROBLEM SINCE THE 1960S. READ THAT GMC AND CHEVY BRAKES ARE NOW ALL FALLING PART FOR ANYONE WHO BOUGHT THEM IN THE LAST 10 YEARS. GMC / CHEVY CHOOSE TO PUT PEOPLE AT RISK. *TR
EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BROKE ON DRIVER SIDE, BACK TWO. THESE BOLTS ARE FAR TOO SMALL FOR THE JOB AND THIS EXPOSES HEAT AND EXHAUST GASES TO THE ENVIRONMENT. CREATING A FIRE DANGER TOO. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC 2500 HD TRUCK EQUIPPED WITH BCT HI-RUN TIRES, TIRE SIZE 275/245/75/16/ (N/A), DOT NUMBER: UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A LOUD NOISE. THE CONTACT MOVED THE VEHICLE FROM THE ROADWAY AND UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, FOUND THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS BLOWN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD EXPERIENCED FOUR TIRE BLOW OUTS WHEN THE SAME BRAND OF TIRE ON FOUR SEPARATE VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC, BUT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A SPARE BY THE CONTACT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE FOR THE TIRE WAS 12,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE WAS 239,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 242,000.
BRAKE LINE FAILURE DUE TO RUST ON LINES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC SIERRA 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF HOWEVER, ABS CONTINUED OPERATING AND DRAINED THE BATTERY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A SHORTAGE IN THE ABS AND THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES WITHIN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL FOR AN ABS PROBLEM ON MY VEHICLE. I HAD THIS RECALL COMPLETED SEVERAL YEARS AGO. RECENTLY, THIS RECALLED PART FAILED AGAIN. GM DENIED MY CLAIM WHEN I HAD THIS RECALL FIXED FOR THE SECOND TIME. GM CLAIMS THAT A RECALL IS A ONE TIME DEAL. I FIND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC SIERRA 1500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ABNORMALLY DEPRESSED INTO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT FOUR BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,154.
UPON STARTING THE TRUCK, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKE FLUID DRAINED UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. A BRAKE LINE RUSTED THROUGH CAUSING A LACK OF BRAKING POWER. THERE WERE NO ALARMS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE TRUCK IS NOT DRIVABLE IN THIS CONDITION. NONE OF THE BRAKES GRAB AND IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, SOMEONE WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. UPON EXAMINATION, ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. SINCE GM DOES NOT MANUFACTURE REPLACEMENT BRAKE LINES, EACH LINE WILL NEED TO BE BENT AND FITTED BY HAND. I UNDERSTAND THAT NHTSA IS INVESTIGATING THE PROBLEM AND SAYS THERE ARE 6.2 MILLION VEHICLES THAT ARE POSSIBLY AFFECTED. *TR
I HAVE A 200 GMC SIERRA AND HAVE FOUND NOW THAT ALL THE BRAKE LINES HAVE RUSTED THROUGH, AND THE FRAME IS SO BADLY RUSTY IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. AS I REVIEW THE INTERNET THERE ARE HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS, MANY RESULTING IN CRASHES. YOU MUST MAKE GMC FACE UP TO THIS PROBLEM AND GET THESE DANGEROUS VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE BRAKE LINES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,005. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
EXHAUST BOLTS BROKE OFF AND NOW GASKET HAS FAILED. *TR
WHILE BLEEDING THE REAR DISK BRAKE CALIPERS IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE STEEL HYDRAULIC TUBING FROM THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER TO THE REAR BRAKE CALIPERS BURST DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST. THE RESULT WAS A QUICK LOSS OF HYDRAULIC BRAKE FLUID. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY, ALL BRAKING WOULD HAVE BEEN LOST DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE HYDRAULIC FLUID RESERVOIR IS NOT DIVIDED INTO FRONT/REAR COMPARTMENTS. AFTER THE LEAK, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR. *KB
WHILE SLOWING DOWN AT MY NEIGHBORHOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL I APPLIED THE BRAKES AT THE STOP SIGN. THE BRAKE PEDAL BEGAN TO PULSE. I DROVE AROUND THE BLOCK TO MY HOUSE. UPON INVESTIGATION, A 12" SECTION OF THE INSIDE OF MY LEFT REAR BRAKE ROTOR BROKE OFF. WHEN THE ROTOR CONTINUED TO TURN, THE REMAINING SECTION OF THE BRAKE ROTOR CAUGHT THE CALIPER PISTON AND SHEARED IT OFF. LUCKILY, I WAS ONLY DRIVING AT 18 MPH. IF I HAD BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING 55-65 MPH, THE LOSS OF BRAKING WOULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. THE PIECE THAT BROKE OFF WAS COVERED WITH RUST ON THE INSIDE - THE SIDE MANUFACTURED WITH COOLING OPENINGS WHICH ARE LOCATED BETWEEN THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE BRAKE ROTOR. *KB
A STEEL BRAKE LINE WAS RUSTED AND FAILED LEAVING LIMITED BRAKING FOR THE VEHICLE. ALL FLUID DRAINED FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER. *KB
BRAKE FAILURE (LOSS OF BRAKING POWER AND PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR). CAUSED BY CORRODED STEEL BRAKE LINE RUPTURE. INSPECTION OF BRAKE LINES SHOWED EXTENSIVE HEAVY RUST, ESPECIALLY ALONG THE FRAME MEMBERS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC ALSO ADVISED THAT THE FUEL LINES NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 07V521000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

I OWN A 2001 GMC SIERRA 1500 HD SLE WHICH I LOST MY BRAKES WHILE ENTERING A INTERSECTION THE OTHER DAY BROUGHT IT TO A SHOP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT THEY INFORMED ME I HAVE ROTTED BRAKE LINES AT THE ABS MODULE UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. THE MECHANIC SHOWED ME THE ROTTED LINES I TOOK SOMETIME TO CHECK THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THERE WHERE OTHERS HAVING THIS PROBLEM THERE SEEMS TO BE THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. ALSO THE REAR LEAF SPRINGS SHACKLES HAVE ROTTED OUT. *TR
THE MASTER CYLINDER BRAKE LINE RUSTED THROUGH CAUSING THE BRAKES TO FAIL. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED BY AAA EMERGENCY SERVICE WHERE THE BRAKE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED. THE COST TO REPLACE THE FAILED BRAKE LINE WAS $270.79 THE REST OF THE UNDER-CARRIAGE OF THE TRUCK IS BADLY RUSTED AS WELL. *KB
2001 GMC SIERRA - 8.1 ENGINE. ENGINE SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING AND/OR FAILURE TO RESTART AFTER SHUT DOWN. THERE WAS AN NHTSA CASE FOR RECALLS, 07V521000, BUT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL CAMPAIGN 06083 BY GM FOR A DEFECTIVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. GM WOULD NOT INCLUDE MY VEHICLE IN THE RECALL IN SPITE OF IT BEING AN IDENTICAL FAILURE. I BELIEVE THERE ARE MORE VEHICLES WITH DEFECTIVE SENSORS THAT WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL. IT COST OVER $700 TO REPAIR WHAT I BELIEVE IS A BIG SAFETY PROBLEM. I WAS LUCKY TO NOT GET IN AN ACCIDENT AFTER MY ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE SHUT DOWN RESULTED IN A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES SO IT WAS DIFFICULT TO COAST TO A SAFE LOCATION ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR

I OWN A 2001 GMC SIERRA 1500. I HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN EXCEPTIONAL CARE OF MY VEHICLE. THE MOTOR HAS ALWAYS HAD A KNOCK WHEN YOU START IT,WHICH DEVALUES THE TRUCK & IT ALSO HAS ALWAYS USED OIL. THE RACK & PINION HAS STARTED LEAKING. I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED A TRUCK & HAVE NEVER HAD A RACK & PINION GO OUT LET ALONE AT 152000 MILES.IT ALSO IS LOSING ANTIFREEZE BUT THERE ARE NO LEAKS. THE FUEL GAUGE HAS NEVER WORKED PROPERLY,NOW ITS ALSO FLASHES LOW COOLANT LIGHT WHEN ITS NOT LOW. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON LINE CONCERNING THESE SAME ISSUES & LAWSUITS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR WAS DAMAGED DUE TO CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO INFORM THE CONTACT WHAT REPAIRS NEEDED TO BE DONE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS A RECALL BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
