TRANSMISSION: BEEN FIXED 3 TIMES AND FINALLY REPLACED A/C: REPAIRED ONCE FRONT END-STEERING: REPAIRED 3 TIMES AND STILL NOT FIXED. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER AND OIL GAUGES STOPPED READING OIL PRESSURE, SPEED, AND TEMPERATURE GAUGE THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC AND THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD BE EXPENSIVE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE REPAIR PERFORMED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN AUGUST OF 2007, BUT THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED THE MILEAGE REQUIREMENT. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 76,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. UPDATED 01/03/08 . *LJ UPDATED 12/12/07
MY SPEEDOMETER STICKS, FLUTTERS, OR DOSEN'T WORK AT ALL. I HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES OVER A TWO YEAR PERIOD AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT PIN POINT THE PROBLEM. I WAS RECENTLY TOLD THAT THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THERE IS A DEFECTIVE PART IN GM VEHICLES. THIS IS A SAFTEY HAZARD AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS AND IT SHOULD BE FIXED AT NO CHARGE TO ME. *TR
THERE HAVE BEEN NO INJURIES DUE TO THE FRONT HUB BEARING BEING WORN BUT WHEN WE MAKE A TURN WE ALWAYS FELT A KNOCKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH MADE US THINK OF SOMETHING BEING LOOSE. WE HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT JUST BY SHAKING THE WHEEL YOU COULD TELL SOMETHING WAS WORN. WE ARE TRYING TO FIND OUT IF THERE IS OR GOING TO BE A RECALL ON IT BECAUSE THE TRUCK IS A 2003 SIERRA AND ALL MECHANICS WE'VE SPOKE TO DO NOT BELIEVE THE BEARING SHE BE WORN ALREADY. WHILE RIDING WITH A FRIEND IN HIS 2001 SILVERADO PICKUP, I NOTICED WHAT SEEMED TO BE A GRINDING SOUND FROM THE BRAKES JUST BEFORE THE TRUCK CAME TO A STOP. ABOUT A WEEK AGO, AROUND NOV. 1ST. MY 2003 GMC SIERRA PICKUP STARTED MAKING THE SAME GRINDING SOUND, (ANTI-LOCK ACTIVATION). THIS HAPPENS ON CLEAR, DRY PAVEMENT WITH NO REASON FOR THE ANTI-LOCK SYSTEM TO ACTIVATE. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR EVERY TIME I STOP AND I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN DURING INTENTIONAL HARD STOPS. I NOTICE THAT MY STOPPING DISTANCE IS EXTENDED WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT GM HAS HAD A RECALL IN CANADA FOR THIS ISSUE BUT HAS NOT HAD ENOUGH COMPLAINTS IN THE US TO INITIATE A RECALL. MY TRUCK HAS 37,000 MILES ON IT AT THIS TIME. *JB
I BOUGHT THE 2003 SIERRA NEW IN 2003. AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME A CLUNKING OCCURRED WHEN GOING AROUND GRADUAL CURVES AND OVER SMALL BUMPS. WHEN IT GOT WORSE I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE STEERING SHAFT WAS LOW ON LUBRICANT. THEY FILLED IT UP NO CHARGE UNDER WARRANTY AND THE STEERING FELT LIKE NEW AGAIN. NOT TOO LONG AFTERWARDS, THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED, GRADUALLY AT FIRST THEN WORSENING. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE GOING TO REPLACE THE PART THIS TIME INSTEAD OF REFILLING IT. THAT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THE STEERING FELT GOOD AGAIN. NOW ITS OCTOBER 25, 2005 AND I AM GOING TO HAVE TO BRING IT IN AGAIN FOR THE SAME PART PROBLEM. THIS TIME I AM OVER THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY AND HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. AT THIS RATE I WILL HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY YEAR. *JB

TRAVELING 47 MPH OR HIGH, WIPER BLADE LIFTS OFF WINDSHIELD AND DOES NOT COME INTO CONTACT TO CLEAN WINDSHIELD. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD/DIESEL. THE CONTACT COMPLAINED ABOUT A STEERING PROBLEM.. THE STEERING VIBRATED WHEN MAKING LOWER SPEED TURNS. THIS HAPPENED WHEN MOVING OR SITTING STILL. IT HAS BEEN FIXED APPROXIMATELY 4 TIMES, AND IT RECURRED AFTER ABOUT 3,000 MILES. AT 10,000 MILES WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE STEERING LOCKED. ALSO, WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE CONTACT LOST THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT GOT SOFT AND SPONGY. THEY DID NOT PULSATE. ALSO, THIS AFFECTED THE STEERING, THE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING, AND THE BRAKES, WHICH WERE SEPARATE ISSUES. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HE SAID THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN CONCERNING THIS ISSUE, BUT THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. *AK
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS: DISC:ROTOR WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, THERE WAS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE ROTORS WERE RUSTED THROUGH AND WORE OUT PREMATURELY AT APPROXIMATELY 8,000 MILES. A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT WAS INDICATED. *NM
2003 GMC SIERRA 2500HD WITH DURAMAX DIESEL STARTED RUNNING ROUGH BECAUSE OF LOW FUEL. LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. PUT 4 GALLONS OF FUEL IN VEHICLE AND SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT FOR 08/02/05 WITH GUNN CHEVROLET SERVICE, SAN ANTONIO TEXAS. MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND ANY TROUBLE CODE. WAS TOLD BY SERVICE ADVISER BRIAN LECOURSE THAT THERE IS NO CALIBRATION OR STANDARD FOR LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON AND IT MAY COME ON WHEN VEHICLE IS RUNNING OUT OF FUEL. I FILLED UP THE VEHICLE WITH 25.2 GALLONS OF FUEL FOR A 26 GALLON TANK. THE LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT STILL WAS NOT ON AND THE DRIVER INFORMATION SYSTEM SHOWED 36 MILES LEFT TO TRAVEL. I WENT BACK TO GUNN CHEVROLET AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE FIXED. GENERAL MANAGER CHARLEY O'DANIEL SAID THAT THE PEOPLE THAT DESIGN THE VEHICLES ARE SMARTER THAN THE PEOPLE THAT FIX THEM AND THAT TECH LINE STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. CHARLEY O'DANIEL SAID NOT TO LET THE VEHICLE GET BELOW 1/4 FULL AS DAMAGE COULD OCCUR TO THE ENGINE FUEL PUMP. *JB
THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2003 GMC SIERRA SLE IS FAULTY. IT BEGAN AT APPROXIMATELY 37,000 MILES AND READS BETWEEN 20-60 MPH HIGHER THAN MY ACTUAL SPEED. THE PROBLEM WAS INITIALLY ISOLATED TO THE SPEEDOMETER, BUT NOW MY TACHOMETER IS NOW READING 800-2000 RPM HIGHER THAN ACTUAL AND THE AMP METER HAS ALSO STARTED TO READING HIGH. I CONTACTED A LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP AND GOT AN ESTIMATE OF AROUND $600 DOLLARS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE TECHNICIAN I SPOKE TO AT THE GMC DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM GMC OWNERS BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN INITIATED. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND DISCUSSION FORUMS WHERE MANY OTHER GMC OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND GMC CONFRONTED WITH A SOLUTION. *JB
2003 GMC SIERRA DURAMAX 3 INJECTORS FAILED AND REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY @ 25,000 MILES 8 INJECTORS FAILED AND REPLACED @ 35,000 MILES AND REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY 4 INJECTORS FAILED @ 120,000 AND NO WARRANTY COVERAGE OBVIOUSLY THERE IS AN INJECTOR PROBLEM. *NM
I HAVE A 2003 GMC DIESEL PICKUP. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN TWICE FOR ELECTRICAL REPAIRS IN THE LAST 9 MONTHS. THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS OBSERVED INCLUDE: AIRCONDITIONER CUTTING IN/OUT, RADIO CUTTING IN/OUT, POWER WINDOWS NOT WORKING, DASH GAUGES CUTTING IN/OUT, IDIOT LIGHTS COMING ON (ABS, BRAKES, CHECK ENGINE ETC). IT WAS REPAIRED ONCE BY THE DEALERSHIP AT A COST OF $500. NOW, 9 MONTHS LATER, THE VEHICLE IS BACK IN FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THE TECHNICIAIN TOOK IT FOR A RIDE AND HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS, HE WAS AFRAID HE WOULDN'T MAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP.
HVAC SYSTEM WILL HANG UP ON DEFROST, IT WILL NOT RETURN TO ANY OTHER POSITION UNTIL VEHICLE IS RESTARTED WITH SWITCH IN DIFFERENT POSITION. ALSO WHEN USING VENT ON THE HIGHER FAN SETTINGS YOU CAN HEAR AND FEEL A SURGING OF AIR THE FAN IS NOT A PRODUCING A CONSTANT FLOW OF AIR. *TR
WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY TO THE LEFT IT WILL LOCK IN THIS POSITION AND CONTINUE IN A CIRCLE.
LEFT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPERATED FROM SIDE WALL OF TIRE. HAPPENED ON I-25 INTERSTATE NORTH OF COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. TREAD ON TIRES ARE AT 10/32NDS. TIRE IS A FIRESTONE STEEL TEX A/T SIZE 245/75R16.
REAR WINDOWS ON EXTENDED CAB BLEW WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY DUE TO IMPROPER INSTALLATION. THERE WERE NO SEVERE CONSEQUENCE DUE TO WINDOWS BLOWING OFF FORTUNATELY AND THE WINDOWS WERE RETRIEVED. WINDOWS WERE REPLACED BY GM DEALERSHIP AT OWNERS EXPENSE EVEN THOUGH MECHANIC STATED THIS WAS A COMMON DEFECT. *NM
I OWN A 2003 GMC 3500 SIERRA WITH A DURAMAX DIESEL ENGINE. IT IS USED RECREATIONAL, AND HAS UNDER 30K MILES, BUT IS NOW 36 MONTHS OLD. THIS SUMMER 1/2 OF MY FUEL INJECTORS FAILED AND WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. I'M CONCERNED THERE THE REST OF THE INJECTORS WILL FAIL, AS HAS BEEN FREQUENTLY REPORTED BY OWNERS SHARING CONCERNS ON VARIOUS ONLINE FORUMS. I AM ADDITIONALLY CONCERNED THAT THIS FAILURE WILL OCCUR AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRES. I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST THAT THE INJECTOR ISSUES BE RESEARCHED FOR 2003 DURAMAX ENGINES, AND THAT A RECALL BE ISSUED TO UPDATE VEHICLES WITH NEW INJECTORS THAT DON'T EXHIBIT THE SAME FLAWS/FAILURES, OR REQUEST THAT THE ENGINE WARRANTY BE EXTENDED TO 200,000 MILES AS WAS DONE ON THE 2001-02 MODELS. THE DATE OF THIS INCIDENT IS ESTIMATED. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR PASSENGER BRAKE WAS OUT OF CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP , AND THEY DETERMINED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR TIRES. THERE HAVE BEEN NO REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. *AK UPDATED 1/4/2006 - THE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WAS KNOCKING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. *NM

DRIVING MY 2003 GMC SIERRA AND THE SPEEDOMETER WENT OUT , IT WAS GOING 100 MILES PER HOUR WHEN I WAS GOING AROUND 50 - 55 ? HARD TO TELL IT NEVER RIGHT ANY MORE AND I ONLY HAVE 58,000 ON THE ODOMETER . THIS A SAFETY PROBLEM AND GMC SHOULD RECALL THESE CLUSTERS BEFORE PEOPLE START GETTING HERT BECAUSE THE SPEED IS WAY OF , AND THE DEALERS WANT USE TO PAY AROUND 1200.00 TO FIX. THIS IS A GMC FIX NOT. *JB
2003 SIERRA PICKUP TRUCK, LOST STEERING AND BRAKES. *BF THE POWER STEERING AND HYDRAULIC FLUID WAS REPLACED. *JB
DT: CONSUMER STATED THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL ON HIS VEHICLE GRABBED, AND PULLED THE VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT. THE SERVICE DEALER STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. CONSUMER STATED THE ABS LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *JB ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WOULD LOCK UP CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO JUMP ACROSS LANES BEFORE THE VEHICLE STOPPED.*TT *SB
I HAVE EXPERIENCED SIGNIFICANT VIBRATION WHEN I STEER MY 2003 GMC SIERRA PICK UP TRUCK. THE VIBRATION IS DISTRACTING AND I WAS WORRIED THAT THERE MAY BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM SO I TOOK IT INTO THE GMC DEALER TO BE LOOKED AT. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT AND THAT IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. HOWEVER, I FEEL THAT ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE IF IT WAS TO FAIL WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE RESULTS COULD BE CATASTROPHIC. THE VIBRATION ALSO CREATES UNNECESSARY DISTRACTION, WHICH IS ALSO A SAFETY CONCERN. THE DEALER AND GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE HAVE INFORMED ME THAT THERE ARE 200,000 INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFTS ON BACK ORDER - SO THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME IT COULD BE 3 MONTHS BEFORE I COULD GET THIS REPLACED. MY TRUCK IS ONLY 1 1/2 YEARS OLD WITH 52,000 MILES. THERE CURRENTLY IS NO RECALL. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GMC (SERVICE REQUEST # 1-304994219), BUT I DO NOT THINK THERE RESPONSE WAS ADEQUATE. THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE SHAFTS WERE READY AND THAT THEY ARE CURRENTLY NOT PERFORMING THIS WORK UNDER A RECALL. THERE LACK OF CONCERN WAS TROUBLING AND I DO NOT WANT TO TRUST MY FAMILIES SAFETY TO A CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT, WHICH HAS BEEN DIRECTED ON WHAT TO SAY. I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT OR INCIDENT RESULTING FROM THIS PROBLEM YET, BUT I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION. *NM
CONTINUED PROBLEMS WITH INTERMEDIATE SHAFT. CLUNKING NOISE AND STEERING WHEEL PULSE PRESENTS A DRIVING HAZARD. GM NEEDS TO FIX THE PROBLEM AS THE CURRENT TSB ONLY PROVIDES A TEMPORARY REMEDY. *JB
WHEN TURNING IN EITHER DIRECTION A RATTLING NOISE WAS PRODUCED FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. THE DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING SHAFT WHICH HAD MALFUNCTIONED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB *TC
AT ABOUT 20,000 MILES I STARTED HEARING A SLIGHT KNOCKING NOISE IN THE STEERING WHILE SLIGHTLY TURNING TO THE RIGHT, AND WHILE HITTING MINOR BUMPS IN THE ROAD. NOW AT ABOUT 22,500 MILES IT CONTINUES TO GET WORSE. BEING A FORMER MECHANIC I CHECKED IT OUT AND FOUND THE UPPER STEERING SHAFT U-JOINT, BY THE FIREWALL, TO BE THE CAUSE. I CALLED THE DEALER AND TALKED TO THE PARTS DEPARMENT. THE PARTS GUY SAID IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE COMPLETE SHAFT AND U-JOINTS. "THERE ARE ABOUT 400,000 ON BACK ORDER." IT WILL TAKE MONTHS TO GET IT IN. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE PROBLEM AT THIS TIME. WHY NOT NHTS, WITH THIS MANY NEEDING TO BE REPLACED.*AK
RIGHT FRONT WHEEL HUB FAILED AT RELATIVELY FEW MILES. MAKING A VIBRATION AND NOISE AT ANY SPEED, HEATING UP.*AK
DT: THE CONSUMER OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA. THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL GAUGE, FUEL PUMP, AND FUEL FILTER. THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT WORK, HE HAS TO CONSTANTLY FILL UP HIS TRUCK TO MAKE SURE HE HAS ENOUGH GAS. IT STARTED AT 38000 MILES JUST OUT OF WARRANTY WHEN IT STOPPED WORKING. HE HAD THE PART ESTIMATED BY A MECHANIC AND IT IS GOING TO COST AROUND 700 DOLLARS JUST FOR THE PART. HE DOES KNOW OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME TRUCK AND THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEM. THE FUEL GAUGE READS COMPLETELY WRONG WHEN HE IS ON 3 QUARTERS OF A TANK IT WILL BE EMPTY.*JB

MY 2003 GMC SIERRA 1500 HAS A "CLUNKING" SOUND, COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN, WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. ALSO, MY FRONT BRAKES HAVE A "RUBBING SOUND" AND THE PEDDLE GETS "SPONGY" WHEN I ACTIVATE THE BRAKES AT A LOW SPEED. *NM
WHILE DRIVING ANY SPEED, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD READ THE WRONG SPEED. THE CAUSE WAS NOT DETERMINED. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT OWNED A 2003 GMC SIERRA 1500 HD. CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FOR AUTOMATIC SEAT FAILURE. WHEN GETTING OUT OF THE VEHICLE SEAT WAS SUPPOSE TO MOVE BACK TO LET CONSUMER OUT, BUT INSTEAD IT WAS MOVING FORWARD, CAUSING CONSUMER TO GO UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL. CONSUMER CALLED THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE LAST SIX MONTHS, THEY KNEW THE PROBLEM EXISTED, BUT WERE UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEREFORE, THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO RIGHT NOW. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WILL JUST CAME ON WITHOUT ANYONE TOUCHING ANYTHING. THE PROBLEM WITH THE SEAT HAPPENED AT LEAST ONCE A DAY. IT WILL RESET ITSELF ALL THE TIME.*AK
THE BRAKE PADS FELL OFF. AS A RESULT THE ROTORS WERE RUINED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK *NM
THE THERMOMETER IN THE MIRROR THAT READS THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY WHEN THE SNOWPLOW IS ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE. WHEN SNOWPLOWING, IT IS CRITICAL TO KNOW THE FREEZING POINT, AND IS THE TIME THAT THE THERMOMETER IS NEEDED THE MOST.GIVING AN INACCURATE TEMPERATURE (ABOVE FREEZING WHEN IT IS REALLY BELOW FREEZING) WILL CAUSE SKIDDING ACCIDENTS. THE DEALER AND THE GMC FACTORY HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THE "DESIGN DEFECT" BUT HAVE FAILED TO CORRECT IT OR OFFER A REFUND FOR THE COST OF THE THERMOMETER OPTION. DEALER HAS REPLACED TEMPERTATURE SENSOR, BUT ITS LOCATION IS WHAT PREVENTS IT FROM WORKING WHEN THE SNOWPLOW IS ATTACHED. I HAVE ASKED THE DEALER TO RELOCATE THE SENSOR, BUT THEY SAID THEY CANNOT ALTER THE VEHICLE'S DESIGN. THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT ON ALL 2003 & 2004 GMC PICK UP TRUCKS WITH SNOWPLOWS ATTACHED, AND YET GMC HAS OFFERED TO DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. BEAR IN MIND, THESE VEHICLES ARE BEING MARKETED WITH "COLD CLIMATE" PACKAGES AND DEALER INSTALLED SNOWPLOWS. A SKIDDING ACCIDENT CAN AND WILL RESULT WHEN THE THERMOMETER READS 45 DEGREES FARENHEIT AND IT IS ACTUALLY 28 DEGREES FARENHEIT OUTSIDE. *AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING 70 MPH, AND WAS UNABLE ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IT CRASHED INTO DITCH. BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. CONSUMER HAD AFTER MARKET PRODUCT FOOSE WHEEL. WHILE DRIVING PASSENGER'S SIDE WHEEL SHEARED OFF. THIS CAUSED THE ACCIDENT. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK
VEHICLE STARTED TO MAKE NOISE. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE TIRES CHECKED. FRONT TIRE AXLE NUT WAS FOUND TO BE LOOSE. ALSO, THE ROTORS AND BEARINGS HAD TO BE REPLACED. *AK

ON SIERRA 1500 HD, REAR LEAF SPRING WASHERS ROUTINELY COME LOOSE AND FALL OFF, CAUSING REAR SPRINGS TO SLAP EXCESSIVELY, CAUSING REAR OF VEHICLE TO SHAKE EXCESSIVELY, MAKING IT MORE DIFFICULT TO STEER. *JB

STARTING AT <5K MILES THE VEHICLE POWER TRAIN CLUNKED WHEN SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. NOW AT 70K MILES IT CLUNKS WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN ALL GEARS EXCEPT FINAL DRIVE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE OUTPUT SHAFT ON THE TRANNY, THEN THE U-JOINTS, AND MODIFIED THE ELECTRICAL SHIFT PATERN. IT STILL CLUNKS. POWER STEERING INTERMITTENTLY LOCKS UP AT SLOW SPEED TURNS, ESPECIALLY WHEN BRAKING. LIGHT BULBS BURN OUT ALMOST EVERY THREE MONTHS. HAD TO PAY ($486.00) FOR REPLACING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET WHEN VEHICLE HAD LITTLE OVER 40K MILES. BRAKES FADE AND THE PEDAL ALMOST GOES TO THE FLOOR, AGAIN INTERMITTENT. I HAVE ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS DUE TO THE STEERING AND BRAKE ISSUES. GMC ISSUED A LETTER STATING "THIS IS A NORMAL OCCURANCE AND WILL NOT CAUSE DAMAGE." WELL, IT'S GETTING WORSE IN SOUND AND CLUNKING HARDER DURING SHIFTING. *TR
FIRE STONE STEELTEX TIRE NOT COVERED BY LATEST RECAL. TIRES ARE COMMING APPART AT 30K MILES. LARGE PEICES OF RUBBER MISSING FROM TIRE. DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE UNDER TIRE WARRANTEE. I THINK THAT BECAUSE OF THE DEALER/MANUFACTURER'S REFUSAL TO ADMIT THAT THESE ISSUES ARE RELATED TO THE TIRES AND NOT THE "USE" YOU ARE GETTING INACCURATE DATA ABOUT THE NUMBER OF DEFECTS IN THESE POOR QUALITY PRODUCTS.*AK
DRIVER SEAT CAN'T BE PRESET FOR DRIVER 1 OR 2. OFTEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED, THE SEAT GOES ALL THE WAY UP UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL. AT OTHER TIMES THE SEAT REMAINS SO FAR BACK THAT NOBODY CAN REACH THE GAS/BRAKE PEDAL. EACH TIME ANYONE DRIVES THE VEHICLE THE SEAT MUST BE RESET OR READJUSTED. GMC HAS BEEN TAKEN TO A REPAIR FACILITY MANY TIMES BEFORE THE WARRANTY WAS UP, BUT THE REPAIR CENTER SAID THEY HAD NO IDEA OR REMEDY FOR THIS PROBLEM. *JB
AFTER DRIVING OVER ABOUT 40 MILES AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE TRANSMISSION WILL BEGIN SLIPPPING IN OD. RPM SLOWLY CLIMBS TO ABOUT 3200 (NORMALLY 2100 AT HIGHWAY SPEED) WITH NO CHANGE IN VEHICLE SPEED, AND EVENTUALLY THE 'TRANSMISSION HIGH TEMPERATURE' WARNING APPEARS ON THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY. SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL AND ALLOWING THE ENGINE TO IDLE FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS AND THEN RETURNING TO DRIVE WILL TEMPORARILY CLEAR THE PROBLEM, BUT IT SOMETIMES RETURNS.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, AND APPLYING THE BRAKES THERE WAS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE ROTORS WERE RUSTED AND WORE OUT PREMATURELY AT 7,700 MILES. THE FLOOR MANAGER AY THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED TO THE CONSUMER THIS WAS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND TO THIS DATE HAD NOT RESPONDED. *AK
