TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO INACCURATELY READ A SPEED OF 90 MPH. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND WHEN RESTARTING, THE SPEEDOMETER WAS STILL READING INACCURATELY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE EXAMINED FOR THE CAUSE OF FAILURE AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
GMC 2500 DIESEL HD SLE SIERRA REARWHEEL DRIVE INSTRUMENT PANAY IS INOPERATIVE. HAVE TO USE IPHONE FOR SPEED AND GUESS AT GAS EFFECTING CRUISE CONTROL INTERIOR LIGHTS FAN SPEED AND CD PLAYER
ON SEPTEMBER 29, 2010, I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK ON RT. 66 WEST APPROACHING LINDEN VA. AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN TRAFFIC BEGAN TO STOP ABRUPTLY BECAUSE OF ROADWORK. I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE AND APPLIED MY BRAKES. AT THIS TIME MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD BEGUN MY STOP FAR ENOUGH AWAY FROM TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME THAT I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN WITHOUT HITTING ANYONE IN FRONT OF ME. I MOVED MY TRUCK OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER, THEN ONTO THE RAMP FOR THE LINDEN VA. EXIT AND THEN PARKED ON THE SHOULDER THERE. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK I FOUND A PUDDLE OF BRAKE FLUID QUICKLY FORMING UNDER MY TRUCK, BELOW THE LEFT FRAME RAIL BEHIND THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL. WHEN I LOOKED UP TO SEE WHERE THE FLUID WAS COMING FROM, I FOUND THE LEAK COMING FROM A BUNDLE OR FOUR BRAKE LINES, THAT WERE HEAVILY CORRODED, THAT RAN BESIDE THE FRAME RAIL. AT THIS TIME I MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED TO MY RESIDENCE. AT THE TIME I WAS TOWING A SINGLE AXLE UTILITY TRAILER. THE TRUCK HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THIS TRUCK IS A 2003 GMC SIERRA 1500 HD CREW CAB SHORT BED, 8600 GVW. IT IS NEARLY IDENTICAL IN EQUIPMENT TO A 2500 HD CREW CAB SHORT BED. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW. *TR
TRAVELING TO WORK AND VEHICLE CUT OUT INFRONT OF MY TRUCK. APPLIED BRAKES TO AVOID COLLISION AND HEARD POP AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. UPON ARRIVING AT WORK A FEW MOMENTS LATER FOUND REAR BRAKE LINE CORRODED AND PERFORATION WENT THROUGH CAUSING LEAK. REPLACED THE REAR BRAKE LINE TO CORRECT BUT BRAKES STILL INOP. OLD PIECE OF CORRODED LINE IS AVAILABLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, I TRIED TO STOP AT A STOP LIGHT. PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. GOT IT STOPPED BY USING THE PARKING BRAKE. SERVICE BRAKE LIGHT ON. AFTER PARKING THE TRUCK, NOTICED LIQUID ON DRIVEWAY. TRACED THE LIQUID BACK TO A RUSTED BRAKE LINE. *TR
ON 9/17/2010 WHILE ON MY WAY TO WORK I WAS CUT OFF BY ANOTHER VEHICLE WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES AND THE SYSTEM WENT INTO ABS MODE THE VEHICLE STOPPED. HOWEVER AFTER THAT STOP I LOST BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE. AFTER CHECKING THE VEHICLE I FOUND THAT THE BRAKE LINE BLEW OUT AS A RESULT OF THE STOP. I FOUND THAT THE BRAKE LINE HAD SPLIT. THE VEHICLE I WAS DRIVING IS A 2003 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. *TR
FRONT BRAKE LINES FAILED ON BOAT RAMP ON 9/15/2010 REAR BRAKE LINES FAILED ON 7/20/2011, TRANSMISSION LINES FAIL ON 5/10/2012 I AM SURE GAS LINES ARE NEXT. TRUCK IS A COMPLETE RUST BUCKET UNDERNEATH.
PURCHASED 2003 GMC SIERRA 1500 USED FROM PRIVATE PARTY ON SEPT 10, 2010 AND UPON NYS SAFETY INSPECTION ALL STEEL BRAKE LINES WERE DISCOVERED TO BE COMPLETELY ROTTED OUT. COST TO REPAIR EXCEEDED $700.00. *TR
HIT THE BRAKES ON MY 2003 GMC SIERRA 2500HD FAIRLY HARD TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I SLOWED DOWN ENOUGH TO AVERT ANOTHER CAR, BUT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE AND BRAKE FLUID EXPLODED ALL OVER MY ENGINE. MY BRAKES NO LONGER WORKED AFTER THIS INITIAL BRAKING. PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. HAD TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP AND GET TOWED. VERY CLOSE CALL. *TR

DEALER REPLACED POWER STEERING ASSEMBLE PT# 88965789 S/GR REM 6.508 THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW ON THIS TRUCK. *TR
FUEL LINE CORROSION RESULTING IN MULTIPLE LEAKS IN PRESSURIZED FUEL LINE. FUEL DRIPPED CONTINUOUSLY ONTO THE TRANSMISSION, INCLUDING SOME ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS, AS WELL AS ONTO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, CLEARLY REPRESENTING A FIRE HAZARD. WHEN PROBLEM FIRST STARTED, GASOLINE VAPOR WAS NOTICEABLE IN THE CABIN. 2003 GMC SIERRA 2WD EXT CAB FUEL LINE ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACE BY LOCAL MECHANIC ~$640 PARTS AND LABOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA 2500 WITH FIRESTONE STEELTEX A/T TIRES, LINE SIZE LT245 75/R16, DOT NUMBER VN11BAC1403. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TREAD SEPARATED ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE. IN ADDITION, THE TREAD WAS ALSO EXHIBITING SIGNS OF PREMATURE TREAD SEPARATION ON THE REMAINING THREE TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT ON RECALL AND WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO REGISTER INACCURATELY THEN STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA 2500. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND NOTICED THAT THE STOPPING DISTANCE OF THE VEHICLE INCREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE BRAKE LINES, FRONT AND REAR ROTORS, AND BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 49000.
BRAKE LINES RUSTED CAUSING BRAKES TO RUST COMPLETELY AND NOT WORK PROPERLY. *TR
I OWN A 2003 GMC SIERRA 1500 HD. THIS PAST WINTER I ALMOST HIT A SNOW PLOW DUE TO A BRAKE LINE RUPTURE. UPON INSPECTION IT WAS FOUND THAT ALL THE BRAKE LINES WERE SEVERELY RUSTED AND VERY BRITTLE. I HAD THE ONE LINE REPLACE WHICH COST ME NEARLY $300. NO THIS PAST WEEK ANOTHER RUPTURE ALMOST CAUSED ME TO REAR END ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS TIME I'M GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE EVERY LINE IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. ALSO THE ABS SYSTEM KICKS IN WHEN TRAVELING AT SLOWER SPEEDS (5-10 MPH). THE CAUSE OF THIS IS UNKNOWN TO ME AT THIS TIME. UPON DOING A LITTLE RESEARCH ONLINE I FIND THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME MODEL AND NEARLY THE SAME YEAR VEHICLES, HAVING EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEMS. THEN I FIND ON YOUR SITE WHERE YOU HAVE STARTED AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE PROBLEM. NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE10010 THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THESE LINES TO BE FAULTY IN ONLY 6-7 YEARS TIME. IT'S LIKELY TO COST ME NEARLY A $1,000 TO HAVE ALL OF THESE LINES CHANGED. MY QUESTION IS IF THE NHTSA FINDS GM RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE FAULTY LINES AND THEY ISSUE A RECALL, WILL I BE REIMBURSED FOR HAVING ALREADY PAID FOR THE REPAIR? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MANEUVER A BOAT INTO THE WATER, THE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE COMPLETE BRAKE LINE WAS CORRODED. THE BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED AT THE CONTACTS EXPENSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THE BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,583 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,566. WHILE DRIVING IN RAIN WITH WIPERS ON INTERMITTENT, THEY SUDDENLY RAN FULL-TIME AND WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. ONLY WAY TO TURN OFF WIPERS IS PULL THE FUSE. WITH FUSE OUT, WIPERS DO NOT WORK AT ALL, AND DRIVER'S DOOR MUST BE OPENED TO ACCESS FUSE AREA. THIS IS A HAZARD, AS WIPERS ARE NOT AVAILABLE WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT OPENING DOOR. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE CORRODED AND RUPTURED WHILE HE WAS DRIVING DOWN A HILL AT 25 MPH. HE WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL WHICH WENT DOWN TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOP. THE CONTACT THEN SAW BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHERE THE BRAKE LINE RUPTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT MANUFACTURER WOULD DECIDE IF THEY WOULD ASSIST IN THE REPAIRS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 76,948.
LOST APPROXIMATELY 80% OF BRAKING POWER IN A 2003 GMC SIERRA 1500 WITH 60,000 MILES. SMALL LEAK DEVELOPED IN THE METAL BRAKE LINES. THERE WAS NO SENSOR INDICATION THAT FLUID WAS LOW DESPITE BRAKE FLUID BEING ONE QUART LOW. *TR
TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE ON A 2003 GMC SIERRA PICKUP TRUCK 62,000 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE AND ATTEMPTING TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR. HE STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT WAS FORCED TO APPLY CONTINUOUS PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE CONTACT STEPPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED FLUID LEAKING FROM THE BRAKE LINE WHICH WAS COVERED WITH RUST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT ALL FOUR BRAKE LINES WERE COVERED WITH RUST. ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES WERE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,448. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,548.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILED SEVERAL TIMES. THE FAILURE PROGRESSED AND THE GAUGE WOULD NOT FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED AT A DEALERSHIP BUT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN BUT THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 118,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 114,000.
HAD DEALERSHIP REPLACE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WHEEL BEARING BECAUSE IT WAS MAKING A GRINDING NOISE. A COUPLE MONTHS LATER THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED. AFTER THE BRAKES WERE SERVICED, I STARTED NOTICING THAT THE BRAKES WERE PULSATING, WHICH WAS FELT IN THE PEDAL, AT LOW SPEEDS. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID DURING THE TEST DRIVE THAT THE ABS SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATING UNNECESSARILY. THEY THEN PUT IT ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE FOR SOME REASONS. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO REPLACE BOTH WHEEL ABS SENSORS. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE ABS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. WHEN THE PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED, AGAIN THE VEHICLE WAS PUT ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE, BUT DIDN'T PICK UP THAT THE SENSORS WERE FIRING. I'M DOUBTING IT IS COINCIDENCE THAT THESE THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT RANDOM. THERE HAS TO BE SOME KIND OF CORRELATION BETWEEN THE WHEEL BEARING BEING REPLACED, THE PADS AND ROTORS BEING REPLACED, AND NOW THE SENSORS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. MY VEHICLE IS A 2003 GMC SIERRA AND HAS 47000 MILES ON IT. ALL THIS HAPPENED WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS AND 1500 MILES. *TR
I PREVIOUSLY HAD TO HAVE THE POWER STEERING COOLER REPLACED BECAUSE OF LEAKING CORRODED LINES. JUST RECENTLY HAD TO HAVE TRANS COOLER REPLACED BECAUSE OF LEAKING CORRODED LINES. MECHANIC SAID ALL LINES UNDERNEATH (BRAKE, STEERING, ETC) ARE TERRIBLY CORRODED AND WE WILL DEFINITELY PAY ATTENTION TO ALL CORRODED LINES, ETC IN FUTURE OIL CHANGE VISITS. THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF MY TRUCK IS A CORRODED DISASTER. THE ROCKER PANELS ARE GONE. CORRODED RAILER HITCH WAS REPLACED. LUCKILY NOTHING HAS TOTALLY FAILED YET TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
2003 GMC TRUCK FAILED SAFETY INSPECTION DEW TO EXTREMELY RUSTED BRAKE LINES. *TR
REGARDING NHTSA INVESTIGATION PE10010. I HAVE A 2003 GMC SIERRA AND THE STEEL BRAKE LINES ARE CORRODED BEYOND RECOGNITION. A RECALL TO REPLACE THESE LINES NEEDS TO BE INSTITUTED. *TR
THE BRAKE LINE ON MY 2003 GMC SIERRA RUPTURED FROM CORROSION BETWEEN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE CONTROLLER AND THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE. THE RUPTURE WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE FIRE WALL. I WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK AND HEARD A RELEASE OF WHAT I THOUGHT WAS AIR FROM AIR BRAKES, THIS OCCURRED ON TWO OCCASIONS LESS THAN A MINUTE APART. I NEW THE NOISE WAS FROM MY TRUCK BUT I WASN'T SURE FROM WHERE. I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WALKED AROUND THE TRUCK AND DETERMINED I DIDN'T HAVE A LOW TIRE. WITH THE TRUCK STILL IN PARK I PRESSED ON THE BRAKES, WHICH LED TO THE BRAKE LINE RUPTURING. I SAW STEAM FROM THE BRAKE FLUID THAT SPRAYED ONTO THE MANIFOLD. I WAS ABLE TO RETURN SAFELY TO MY HOME, WHICH WAS LESS THAN TWO MILES FROM WHERE I STOPPED THE TRUCK. I VISUALLY INSPECTED MY BRAKE LINES AND SAW CORROSION IN THE AREA OF THE BRAKE LINE RUPTURE. *TR
BRAKES FAILED BECAUSE OF CORRODED BRAKE LINES THAT FAILED ON THE WAY TO WORK . IT WAS FIXED,AND ANOTHER BROKE WHEN BEING TESTED! BECAUSE OF THIS WERE AFRAID TO DRIVE VEHICLE UNTIL RECALL IS IN EFFECT ! *TR
I HAVE 2 GM PRODUCTS, A 1996 CHEVY IMPALLA & A 2003 GMC TRUCK. BOTH HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. AT VARIOUS TIMES AND WITHOUT NOTICE THE POWER STEERING WILL LOCK UP AND WON'T TURN FOR A BRIEF TIME. AFTER A FEW SECONDS IT WILL GO BACK TO NORMAL. ALSO IF YOU ARE STANDING STILL AND TRY TO TURN TO THE LEFT THE WHEEL IS VERY HARD TO TURN OR WON'T TURN AT ALL. FORTUNATELY THIS HAS NOT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT OR INJURY, BUT I COULD SEE A SITUATION WHERE UNDER THE WRIGHT CONDITIONS THIS COULD BE LIFE THREATENING.
2003 GMC HALF TON SIERRA TRUCK. 3 TIME SINCE 2003 THAT I'VE HAD TO TAKE IT IN FOR CLUNKING NOISE FELT THRU STEERING WHEEL. LUBED A COUPLE TIMES THEN REPLACED THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. STILL NO GUARANTEES THAT IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN. ALSO VERY HARD TO STEER WHEN BRAKING AND BRAKES DON'T RESPOND WELL WHEN APPLIED QUICKLY. THE FIRST TIME THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT NEEDED ATTENTION THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 15,000 MILES ON IT. THE SECOND TIME WAS 30,000 MILES AND THE LAST TIME WAS 45,000 MILES AND OCCURRED IN MARCH 2010. *TR
BOTH FRONT ABS SENSORS FAILED DUE TO CORROSION, CAUSING INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE. *TR
ABS ENGAGES AT LOW SPEEDS (~5MPH). FRONT END CHATTER RESULTS AND STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASES. ALSO PULLS CAR TO ONE DIRECTION. THIS IS A 2003 GMC SIERRA 2500HD. *TR
PREMATURE FAILURE OF BRAKE LINES DUE TO ACCELERATED CORROSION. ALL METALLIC PORTIONS OF BRAKE LINES EXHIBITING SEVERE CORROSION ALONG TOTAL LENGTH AND LOSS OF THICKNESS TO THE POINT OF FAILURE. HAVE INSPECTED 6 OTHER TRUCKS OF SAME YEAR AND MODEL AND ALL EXHIBITED SIMILAR DEGREE OF CORROSION. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT BRAKE LINE MATERIAL OF CONSTRUCTION IS DEFICIENT.
CORRODED BRAKE LINES ON 2003 GM SIERRA 1500 LONG BOX PICKUP TRUCK. FIRST FAILURE WAS IN JANUARY 2009. SECOND FAILURE IN FEBRUARY 2010. WHEN TRUCK WAS INSPECTED IN NOV. 2009, INSPECTOR INDICATED THAT GM TRUCK BRAKE LINES ARE A KNOWN SAFETY HAZARD. HE LOOKED OVER MINE, BUT DID SEE EVIDENCE OF NEED FOR IMMEDIATE REPAIR. TRUCK WAS BOUGHT NEW IN OCT. 2003 BY ME, AND NOW HAS ONLY 24,500 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT. GM SHOULD MOST DEFINITELY BE REQUIRED TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND REPLACE ALL CORROSION-PRONE BRAKE LINES WITH CORROSION-PROOF ONES. THERE IS NO GREATER SAFETY CONCERN THAN BRAKING. I AM TAKING TRUCK TO HAVE ALL LINES REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE, IN THE INTEREST OF MY AND OTHERS' SAFETY. BUT, GM SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO FOIST JUNK WITH MASSIVE SAFETY CONSEQUENCES UPON CONSUMERS AND GET TO WALK AWAY FROM IT. MY SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2003 SIERRA 2500HD BECAME ERRATIC AND THEN STUCK AT ABOUT 140 MPH AND STAYED THERE. *TR
MY 2003 GMC SIERRA PICK-UP HAS ERRATIC SPEEDOMETER READING. SPEEDOMETER READS VARIOUS SPEEDS WHILE VEHICLE IS AT A STOP. IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE ACTUAL SPEED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. GM ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN AND OFFERED FREE REPLACEMENT TO ALL EFFECTED VEHICLES. NO NOTICE WAS SENT TO OWNERS. WHEN I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE SERVICE BULLETIN, IT WAS TOO LATE. THERE WAS A TIME RESTRICTION ON IT. APPARENTLY MY SPEEDOMETER LASTED A BIT LONGER THAN MANY. HOWEVER MY PROBLEM IS EXACTLY THE ONE REFERENCED IN THE BULLETIN. I THINK GM SHOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE LOCAL DEALER SAID IT WOULD COST ME $470.00. I'VE OWNED MANY VEHICLES, AND NEVER ONCE HAS A SPEEDOMETER FAILED DUE TO "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR." *TR
2003 GMC SIERRA DENALI WITH BRAKE LINE FAILURE PROBLEMS. *TGW THE CONSUMER COMPLAINED OF A VERY SOFT PEDAL AND SOMETIMES THE PEDAL WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR BEFORE STOPPING. THE DEALER CLAIMED NOTHING WAS WRONG. THE CONSUMERS WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND WHEN SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES, ON AN INCLINE, SHE TRAVELED BACKWARDS OUT OF CONTROL AND STRUCK THE NEIGHBORHOOD SIGN. SHE EXPERIENCED NECK AND BACK PAIN. THE CONSUMER ARRIVED AT THE SCENE TO FIND MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING DOWN THE FRAME FROM ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES LOCATED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE BRAKE LINES HAD EXCESSIVE CORROSION AND FAILED. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO STOP, THE BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED. THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED WITH A HOLE COMPLETELY THROUGH. THE CONSUMER STATED THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE LINE WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE SECOND TIME THE INCIDENT HAPPENED THE DEALER REPLACED THE ENTIRE BRAKE LINE SYSTEM. *JB
VEHICLE REPEATEDLY GOES INTO "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" WITHOUT WARNING. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN YOU ARE ON THE HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY LOSE POWER. HAS BEEN HAPPENING INFREQUENTLY FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS. NOW HAPPENS ALMOST DAILY. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS EXAMINING HIS VEHICLE HE NOTICED THAT THERE WAS OIL DRIPPING FROM THE TRANSFER CASE UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A COVER SHOULD BE PUT ON THE TRANSFER CASE TO STOP THE LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY THE DEALER AND THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 76000.
GOING DOWN THE ROAD PULLING A TRAILER, WENT TO BRAKE AND THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR. ENDED UP HAVING TO USE THE TRAILER BRAKES TO STOP. *TR
WHEN TRAVELING AT A SLOW SPEED, LESS THAN 10 MILES PER HOUR, IF BRAKE IS APPLIED THE PEDAL RUMBLES AND THE TRUCK CONTINUES TO MOVE UNLESS I PUMP THE BRAKES. THIS IS HAPPENING DURING CLEAR DAYS NO RAIN, SNOW OR LOOSE GRAVEL. THIS INCIDENT IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE ONE DESCRIBED IN CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V379000. *TR
BRAKE LINE RUPTURE, 2003 GMC SIERRA 2500HD PICKUP. TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKING WHILE STOPPING FOR TRAFFIC AT 60 MPH. ALL LINES WERE ROTTED AND HAD TO REPLACED. CRASH WAS AVOIDED BECAUSE OTHER CARS REALIZED I HAD LOST BRAKING AND MOVED OUT THE WAY. DID NOT REPORT UNTIL NOW(DEC 2010) BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. NOW FINDING OUT THAT IT IS PREVALENT, SO MUCH, THAT I HAVE WARNED FRIENDS ABOUT IT AND AM FINDING IT TO BE QUITE COMMON. *TR

DRIVING 2003 SIERRA 2500 HD 4WD CREW CAB AND ALL OF SUDDEN THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE QUIT STOPPED ON ZERO AND NEVER MOVED. THEN THE INSTRUMENT GAUGES OR CLUSTER COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. THE DEFECTIVE STEPPER MOTOR IN THE CLUSTER IS THE PROBLEM. *TR
