GMC REPLACED ALL 8 FUEL INJECTORS UNDER WARRANTY AT 95,000 MILES. SAME PROBLEM AGAIN AT 135,000 AND WILL NOT COVER THEM. ESTIMATED $5,500 TO REPLACE BY CONSUMER WITH ONLY A 12 MONTH WARRANTY. CREATES POOR FUEL ECONOMY, EXCESSIVE SMOKE AT IDLE AND WILL NOT PASS SMOG IF NOT CORRECTED.
ALL FUEL AND BRAKES LIKE ROTTED. THE BRAKES FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME. ONE BRAKE LINE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED APPROX. 1 YEAR AGO. BOTH TIMES VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE TOWED FOR REPAIR. TOTAL COST FOR MOST RECENT REPLACEMENT/REPAIR WAS $1202.13. *TR
DIESEL FUEL LEAKS FROM INJECTORS INTO ENGINE OIL PAN AND CONTAMINATES ENGINE OIL THEM LEAKS OIL FROM BREATHER & REAR MAIN OIL SEAL AND GM KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT WONT DO ANY THING FOR THIS PROBLEM SAID ITS OUT WARRANTY ON TIME NOT MILES. *TR
I WAS LEAVING MY DRIVEWAY AND COMPLETELY LOST ALL BRAKES AND COULD NOT STOP. I HAD TO SLAM ON THE PARKING BRAKE TO STOP. A BRAKE LINE BLEW. ALL THE BRAKE LINES AND FUEL LINES ARE COMPLETELY ROTTED.THIS VEHICLE ISN'T EVEN 10 YEARS OLD YET. THE FUEL LINE AND BRAKE LINES ARE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THIS TRUCK IS A 2500 AND I USE IT FOR TOWING TRAILERS IF THAT BRAKE LINE WENT WHILE TOWING IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THE ENTIRE UNDERNEATH OF THIS TRUCK IS SO RUSTED THE FRAME BRAKE LINE AND FUEL LINES ARE TERRIBLE. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED FROM GM'S CHEAP STEEL. *TR

FUEL TANK HAS RUSTED STEEL SUPPORT STRAPS; REAR STRAP BROKE AND TANK DROPPED A FEW INCHES PLACING ADDITIONAL PRESSURE ON RUSTED FRONT SUPPORT STRAP. TANK WOULD BOUNCE UP AND DOWN DUE TO BUMPS IN ROAD. FORTUNATELY MY FRIEND, FOLLOWING MY TRUCK, ALERTED ME AND WE SECURED TANK WITH A LENGTH OF ROPE. HAD HE NOT ALERTED ME IT IS LIKELY FRONT STRAP WOULD HAVE FAILED, DROPPING TANK ONTO PAVEMENT. THE DEFECT WAS NOTED JUST BEFORE I WAS ABOUT TO PROCEED ONTO INTERSTATE 93. HAD THE FRONT STRAP FAILED, THE FUEL TANK WOULD HAVE DRAGGED FOR A DISTANCE AT HIGH SPEED, POSSIBLY CAUSING AN EXPLOSION/FIRE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER HAD A FUEL TANK DISLODGE AND I NORMALLY KEEP VEHICLE FOR 150,000 MILES AND 10 YEARS. HIGHLY RECOMMEND VEHICLES WITH STEEL FUEL TANK SUPPORT STRAPS BE RECALLED FOR INSPECTION; IN NORTHEAST WHERE SALT IS USED ON HIGHWAYS, STEEL ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF A VEHICLE WILL RUST. FUEL TANK SUPPORT STRAPS SHOULD BE MADE OF STAINLESS STEEL OR ANOTHER MATERIAL THAT IS NOT SUBJECT TO DEGRADATION/CORROSION DUE TO ROAD SALT. OCCUPANTS OF VEHICLES, FIRST RESPONDERS AND OTHERS ARE AT RISK DUE TO THIS DESIGN FLAW. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA 3500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE BECAME RESISTANT TO ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT ALL EIGHT FUEL INJECTORS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE MADE, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE AND HAD THE FUEL INJECTORS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TRADED FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,411.
ALLISON TRANSMISSION HOUSING FAILED AT 54,000 MILES. GM PAID PARTS, I PAID 1,200.00 LABOR , WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS 2 BULLETINS OUT ON DEFECTIVE HOUSING AND WHEN THEY FINISHED REPAIR THEY SAID THEY INSTALLED UPDATED HOUSING SO I WOULD NOT HAVE PROBLEM AGAIN. DON'T THINK I SHOULD HAVE PAID ANYTHING TO HAVE IT REPAIRED! AT 105,000 MILES TRANSFER CASE FAILED , COST 1,150.00 TO REPAIR, HAVE HAD TO TAKE BACK 2 MORE TIMES AS REPAIR WAS NOT DONE RIGHT. AT 112.000 MILES SPEEDOMETER BECAME ERRATIC WAS TOLD IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM ,AND SEE ON COMPLAINT SEARCH IT IS , CONSIDER THIS A GREAT SAFETY DANGER AS I DO NOT KNOW WHAT SPEED I'M GOING CAN ONLY GUESS NOT FIXED YET FOUND SOME WHO SELLS REBUILT ONES FOE 150.00 ,SAID THEIR REBUILDING THEM DUE THE LARGE NUMBER THAT ARE FAILING. ALSO AT 112,000 MILES PARK NEUTRAL SWITCH STARTED ACTING UP ,CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON ,SHIFT BAR LIGHT GOES AWAY, TRUCK WON'T SHIFT PROPERLY AND STAY IN CERTAIN GEARS WITHOUT SHIFTING UP ,EFFECTS DOOR LOCKS. LOOKED UP PARK NEUTRAL SHIFT AS PART AND CAME ACROSS BULLETINS STATING THAT DURING LEFT HAND TURN FRONT TIRE SPRAYS WATER ONTO PARK NEUTRAL ,SWITCH CAUSING PROBLEM ,NEEDS FRONT & REAR SHIELD INSTALLED TO SOLVE PROBLEM. HAVE TAKEN TRUCK BACK IN WAITING FOR INFORMATION. ALSO AROUND 90,000 MILES HAD VERY HARD TIME STARTING TRUCK AND TRUCK RAN POORLY,PROBLEM BECAME WORSE TOOK IN, FUEL INJECTORS WERE BAD AND WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT 112,000 MILES NO NEED TO SAY I'M NOT A GMC FAN ANYMORE , EVEN THOUGH I LIVE IN LANSING MI ( A GM TOWN)AND HAVE LOTS OF FRIENDS AND FAMILY EMPLOYED THERE. TL*- THE CONTACT STATES THAT SOMETIME IN AUGUST OF 2006, FUEL INJECTED NUMBER 8 FAILED IN HER VEHICLE. ON DECEMBER 4TH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED TO WORK INVOLVING INJECTED NUMBER 8. ON DECEMBER 11TH, INJECTED NUMBER SIX ON CONTACT DIESEL ENGINE TRUCK FAILED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH. THE CONTACT STATES THAT HE HAS SPENT OVER $1,000 OF DOLLARS REPAIRING HIS TRUCK AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW, IF THE MANUFACTURER HAS CONFIRM THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL INJECTORS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIR SEVERAL OF TIMES, CONTACT CAN PROVIDE ANY REPAIR INVOICES IF NEEDED
DIESEL POWER KEEPS REDUCING. TRUCK HAS BEEN TO DEALER TWICE. ALL MAINTENANCE IS PERFORMED PER OWNERS MANUAL, INCLUDING FUEL FILTERS. TRUCK HAS BEEN TO DEALER TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM. I SUSPECT INJECTOR FAILURE OR OTHER FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEM. AT 5000 MILES THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD A NEW INJECTOR PUMP REPLACED. I FEEL THAT THIS MAKES THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO TRAILER WITH. I HAVE TROUBLE MAINTAINING SPEEDS ON EVEN THE SMALLEST OF GRADES NOT TOWING MUCH WEIGHT. I HAVE CONTACTED GM, WHICH WAS LESS THAN HELPFUL. DEALER INSISTS THAT IT NEEDS THE "THROTTLE BODY CLEANED", NO THROTTLE BODY ON A DIESEL! TRUCK IS NOW GOING TO A RECOMMENDED, COMPETENT MEDIUM DUTY DEALERSHIP. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL GAUGE IS INOPERATIVE. THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY AT ALL TIMES. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FUEL SENDER ASSEMBLY, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN ALERTED. UPDATED 7/21/2006 - THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE HAS EXHIBITED THE PROBLEM SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. MANY COMOPONENTS WERE REPLACED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BUT NONE OF THEM WORKED TO PERMANENTLY REPAIR THE PROBLEM. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA DORMAX DIESEL (NA). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL INJECTORS PRODUCE WHITE SMOKE. OCASSIONALLY, THE VEHICLE BECOMES DIFFICULT TO START. THE CONTACT SERVICED THE INJECTORS EVERY 10,000 MILES, BUT THE FAILURE IS PERSISTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY KEPT REPLACING THE INJECTORS, BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT 75 MPH IN CRUISE CONTROL MODE VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER PROCEEDED TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED 4 TIMES, SIMULTANEOUSLY WHILE IN ROUTE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. *AK *NM
