I HAVE HAD THE LOWER STEERING ARM REPLACED THREE TIMES DUE TO A BAD BUSHING. ONCE UNDER WARRANTY & TWICE I HAD TO PAY FOR IT WHICH IS OVER $300.00 EACH TIME. THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVROLET & GMC TRUCKS. THIS IS ONLY NOTICEABLE WHILE IN MOTION.
TRANSMISSION MAKES A NOISE ALL THE TIME. BROUGHT IN TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES IN THE PAST 7 MONTHS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH OR GREATER, THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSATED WHEN DEPRESSED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND THEY TURNED THE ROTORS. APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. AS OF JULY 30, 2007, THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED ON THREE OCCASIONS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,964 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. THE NINTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 09/26/07. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE LOOSES POWER STEERING AT LESS THAN 5MPH OR WHILE STOPPED AND APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS AT LEAST SIX TIMES. DURING THOSE OCCASIONS, THE DEALERSHIPS REPLACED THE GEAR BOX, SHAFT SECTOR, POWER ASSIST HOSE, PUMP AND THE PRESSURE VALVE. THE POWER STEERING PROBLEM STILL EXIST.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT BELT TIGHTENS UP VERY TIGHT ON THE CHEST. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE ALERTED ABOUT THE PROBLEM.
CRASH, INJURY, FRONTAL IMPACT, BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND QUICKLY ENOUGH. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *JB
DT:THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING HEARD A NOISE AND THE VEHICLE FISH TAILED IN THE REAR. HE IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE TREAD ALONG THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SEPARATED. A BLACK POWDER SUBSTANCE WAS ON THE INSIDE OF THE DAMAGED TIRE. THERE WERE NO OBVIOUS ROAD HAZARDS. VEHICLE HAS A VERY ROUGH IDLE AFTER WARMING UP. WHEN STOPPED FOR A LIGHT THE VEHICLE STUMBLES SO BAD IT CAUSES THE CAB TO SHAKE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY DOWNLOADED THE COMPUTER AND COULD FIND NO DEFECTS. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NORMAL FOR THIS YEAR GROUP WITH THE 5.3L ENGINE. *NM
TOW HITCH ON TRUCK CRACKED HAD I NOT SEEN THAT THE HITCH WAS BENDING THE TRAILER I WAS HAULING WOULD HAVE BROKEN LOOSE WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. *NM
WHEN LISTENING TO THE RADIO ONLY IN ACCESSORY MODE FOR APPROX. 2-4 HOURS THE BATTERY IS DRAINED WITHOUT WARNING TO THE POINT THAT THE TRUCK WILL NOT START, THE ONSTAR GOES DEAD -WE ARE UNABLE TO SUMMON HELP IF NEEDED, AND THE RADIO GOES COMPLETELY DEAD. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS GIVEN A BULLITEN FROM GM (DOCUMENT ID# 1689523). GENERAL MOTORS CUSTOMER SERVICE IS WORKING WITH US, BUT THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE TRUCK HAS APPROXIMATELY 3600 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, WHEN PURCHASED IN JUNE THE TRUCK HAD APPROXIMATELY 590 MILES. *NM
WHILE TRAVELING WEST OF DENVER, COLORADO MY 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500HD EQUIPPED WITH THE DURAMAX DIESEL OVERHEATED TO THE POINT OF THE VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN. THIS HAPPENED ON A STRETCH OF HIGHWAY WHERE THERE WAS NO SHOULDER TO PULL OFF ON RESULTING IN AN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS CONDITION. I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE ON-LINE RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THE 2004.5 AND 2005 MODEL YEAR CHEVROLET AND GMC HD SERIES TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH THE DIESEL MOTOR. NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE TAKEN THEIR TRUCKS TO LOCAL CHEVROLET AND GMC DEALERSHIPS BUT GM HAS BEEN UNABLE OR UNWILLING TO HELP THUS FAR. THESE TRUCKS ARE CREATING DANGEROUS SITUATIONS THAT I FEAR WILL RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. *JB
I OWN A 2003 2500 HD 4X4, A WONDERFUL VEHICLE IT WOULD BE EVEN MORE WONDERFUL IF I COULD FIND A DEALER THAT WOULD STAND BEHIND HIS PRODUCT. MY NEXT CAR PROBABLY WILL NOT BE GMC OR CHEVY. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR SINCE JUNE OF 2003. DUE TO THE NATURE OF MY BUSINESS I ALREADY HAVE 98,000 MILES. DURING THAT TIME I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT FUEL MILEAGE. THE REPORTS LIE. NOBODY WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE FUEL MILEAGE. BECAUSE IT CAN'T GET ANY BETTER BECAUSE THEY LIED. I HAVE LOST A VACCUME PUMP, AND A LEFT FRONT WHEEL HUB WHICH HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. WHAT PROMPTED MY COMPLAINT IS THAT I HAVE STARTED DEVELOPING A VIBRATION AT 77-83 MPH. DEALER REP SAYS YOU SHOULDN'T BE DOING 80 MPH. THEREFORE SINCE OUR MECHANICS CAN'T SPEED IN YOUR VEHICLE ( COMPLETELY UNDERSTANDABLE) YOU DON'T HAVE A VIBRATION. DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE VIBRATION OCCOURS AT 80MPH I STILL HAVE A VIBRATION AND JUST BECAUSE IT IS AGAINST THE LAW, ( 75 IS ABOUT THE NORM ON OUR HIGHWAYS), DOESN'T MEAN I DON'T HAVE A VIBRATION. MY GUESS IS THAT IT IS EITHER ANOTHER WHEEL HUB, OR SOMETHING IN THE INSTALLATION OF THE NEW VACCUME PUMP. BECAUSE AFTER THEY REPLACED THAT IT RAN GOOD FOR AWHILE. THE VIBRATION IS GETTING WORSE AND I AM AT 97-98,000 MILES. VEHICLE IS ALSO STARTING TO SURGE, BUT NOT ALL THE TIME. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ABOUT THE OTHER COMPLAINTS IT COULD BE THE AC ACTING UP. BUT SINCE IT WASN'T SURGING THIS TIME, WELL IF YOUR A CONSUMER READING THIS YOU KNOW THE STORY. I HAVE TOLD YOU ALL THE BAD. NOW FOR SOME GOOD.... THE BRAKE SYSTEM ON THIS CAR IS BEAUTIFUL I AM STILL LESS THAN HALF ALL THE WAY AROUND. THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS PERFECTLY TUNED FROM FRONT TO BACK. I HAVE HAULED CARS AND TRAILORS FROM TIME TO TIME AND THE ENGINE TRANSMISSION AND BRAKES ALL WORK TOGETHER BEAUTIFULLY. ITS THE SERVICE I AM COMPLAINING ABOUT.
PURCHASED 2005 NEW GMC SIERRA CREW CAB, 349 MILES, ON 19 JULY 2005 FROM RANZ MOTOR CO., INC., CHANUTE, KS, VIN [XXX]. ON 8/21/05 THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, THE FRONT BRAKES LOCKED UP, THERE WAS A DISTINCT ODOR EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE, AND SMOKE WAS ROLLING OUT FROM UNDER THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF THE TRUCK. RANZ MOTORS REPLACED A BAD BRAKE BOOSTER IN ACCORDANCE WITH BULLETIN EPIT3685 AND CHECKED OPERATION. ON 9/1/05 THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED THE SAME DEFECT AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. THIS TIME CAR WAS TAKEN TO COAST TO A SLOW SPEED BEFORE EXITING THE HIGHWAY BY MY HUSBAND, A 27 YEAR RETIRED POLICE LT, WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE STEERING SHOOK SO VIOLENTLY, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS JERKED FROM BOTH HANDS, THE VEHICLE CROSSED THE CENTER LINE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC NARROWLY AVOIDING A HEAD-ON ACCIDENT. SLOWLY DROVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO RANZ MOTORS (APPROXIMATELY 50 MILES ROUND TRIP). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AT THAT TIME, BUT THE NEXT DAY A SERVICE TECH DROVE THE VEHICLE ONLY .21 MILES BEFORE THE VEHICLE AGAIN EXHIBITED THE SAME DEFECT. THE TECH PULLED UP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND VIBRATION STOPPED (REF: [XXX]). ANOTHER BOOSTER WAS INSTALLED, VEHICLE WAS ROAD TESTED 295 MILES WITHOUT ANY DUPLICATION OF PREVIOUS PROBLEM. I HAVE LOST ALL CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE, IT'S USE IS NOT ONLY AS A FAMILY VEHICLE, BUT IS ALSO USED TO PULL A 4 HORSE TRAILER. NO OLD PARTS WHERE SHOWN TO EITHER MYSELF OR MY HUSBAND EITHER TIME. I'VE DISCUSSED WITH RANZ MOTORS TRADING THE VEHICLE BACK IN ON SOMETHING ELSE AND STEVE RANZ "WASN'T COMFORTABLE SELLING THAT VEHICLE TO SOMEONE ELSE WITH IT'S HISTORY OF PROBLEMS". OTHER DEALERS HAVE DEPRECIATED THE VEHICLE SUBSTANTIALLY BASED ON IT'S REPAIR HISTORY. I PROCEEDED WITH THE GMC BUY BACK PROGRAM WHERE I WAS OFFERED $794.00 AND AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, AND TOLD IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN WE WILL CONSIDER BUYING IT BACK. GMC 3500 CREW CAB DUALLY WITH THE 6.6 DURAMAX DIESEL AND ALLISON AUTOMATIC CAN TO PERFORM ITS DESIGNED JOB WITH OUT OVER HEATING. TRUCK IS RATED FOR 23,500 GCWR AND A 16000 TOWING CAPACITY. HOWEVER IT STRUGGLES TO PULL 7000 POUNDS AND ENGINE TEMPERATURE GOT OVER 230, AND TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE OVER 210. THE COOLING FAN STRUGGLES TO CONTROL THE HEAT AND RUNS CONSTANTLY, THE NOISE IS UNBEARABLE. IF ONE WERE TO ATTEMPT TO PULL MY RV UP A MOUNTAIN GRADE IN THE SUMMER I WOULD BE LEFT STRANDED ON THE ROAD OR IN TRAFFIC. *NM
FACTORY SYLVANIA RUNNING LIGHT BULBS TO HOT AND SCORCHING/MELTING THE PLASTIC SOCKETS IN GM PICKUP TRUCKS. 2005 TO 2009 THAT'S WHY YOU SEE SO MANY GM TRUCKS INCLUDING CADILLAC ESCALADE WITH ONE OR BOTH OF THE DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS NOT WORKING THE SOCKET HAS MELTED FROM THE HEAT OF THE LIGHT BULB. *TR
I HAVE A GMC PICKUP TRUCK WITH A DIESEL ENGINE THAT HAS A CHRONIC OVERHEATING ISSUE. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH SUCH AN ISSUE, AS THERE ARE LITERALLY HUNDREDS, MAYBE EVEN THOUSANDS WITH THIS PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE IS EXCLUSIVE TO GM DIESEL PICKUPS WITH THE 6.6 LITER DURAMAX DIESEL ENGINE MODEL YEAR 2004.5 AND 2005. I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK FOR ONLY 2 MONTHS AND AM TAKING IT TO THE DEALER FOR THE SECOND TIME. I HAVE READ THAT GM HAS HAD TO BUY BACK SEVERAL OF THESE VEHICLES. WHILE SOME DEALERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY ARE RECOGNIZING THE PROBLEM AND TELLING CUSTOMERS THAT GM IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, MANY ARE DENYING ANY DOCUMENTED SERVICE BULLETINS OR THAT A PROBLEM EVEN EXISTS. THIS PROBLEM IS PREDOMINANT WHEN TOWING AND HAULING, WHICH IS WHAT THESE VEHICLES ARE DESIGNED FOR. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE SPECIFICALLY TO TOW A TRAVEL TRAILER WITH. I CAN'T DO THAT WITHOUT HAVING AN ENGINE OVERHEATING ISSUE. THE POTENTIAL DANGER OF TOWING A TRAILER AND YOUR VEHICLE OVERHEATING IS QUITE OBVIOUS. MY DEALER TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM FOUND WHEN THEY TESTED MY VEHICLE. THEY COULD NOT SIMULATE THE SITUATION CAUSING AN OVERHEAT. THE BEST THEY COULD DO WAS GET THE TRUCK TO HEAT UP TO 230 DEGREES, WHICH BY THE WAY IS ABOUT 15 DEGREES OVER NORMAL OPERATING TEMPS. I AM TAKING MY VEHICLE BACK TO MY DEALER FOR ANOTHER CHECK. DO I HAVE TO BE STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD POTENTIALLY ENDANGERING MY LIFE AND THE LIVES OF SEVERAL MOTORISTS BEFORE GENERAL MOTORS DOES SOMETHING? *NM
OVERHEATING OF 2005 GMC DURAMAX DIESEL ENGINE WHILE PULLING SMALL 5TH WHEEL IN MOUNTAINS OF COLORADO. THIS CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO SLOW DOWN TO THE POINT WHERE I WAS A HAZARD TO MYSELF AND OTHERS ON THE HIGHWAYS BECAUSE OF MY VEHICLE CAUSING A TRAFFIC OBSTRUCTION. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 3500. WHILE BRAKING FROM SPEEDS OF 10 MPH, THE PEDAL FELL INTO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT ENGAGE. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THE DATE OF PURCHASE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED TO BE FURTHER INSPECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,198.
EXTREME OVERHEATING OF 3500 DURAMAX WHILE TOWING. LOSS OF POWER AND OVERHEATING OF TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE. NUMEROUS CONTACTS WITH GENERAL MOTORS AND ATTORNEY GENERAL IN MICHIGAN. GM ACKNOWLEDGES THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS THEREFORE NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. ARE CONTINUING TO FIND A FIX. WE TOW A 5TH WHEEL IN THE COLO. MOUNTAINS AND THIS COULD LEAD TO VERY SERIOUS PROBLEMS IF THE ENGINE SHOULD BLOW AND WE WOULD HAVE LOSS OF STEERING AND BRAKING. *JB
NOISE STARTED FROM THE REAR END ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASE. THERE IS A LOUD NOISE THAT COMES FROM DRIVESHAFT OR REAR END WHEN THE TRUCK SHIFTS DOWN OR UP IN LOW GEARS AND IS TWICE AS BAD AFTER TURNING . THE DEALER HAS CHECKED THE TRUCK 3 TIMES AND TOLD THEY COULD PACE GREASE IN SOMETHING IN THE REAR, BUT IT WOULD STOP THE NOISE A SHORT TIME AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AS IT WAS FACTORY DEFECT. IT IS NOW ONE YEAR OLD AND IS GETTING WORSE EVERY WEEK. THE TRUCK HAS ONLY 10,300 MILES ON IT. *NM

DT: THE POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS. THE DEALER DOES KNOW THAT IT IS GOING OUT AT LOW SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FIVE TIMES, THEY BROUGHT IN A FIELD ENGINEER. THEY OFFERED AN INCENTIVE TO PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT HIGH SPEEDS, BUT THEY COULD DUPLICATE IT AT LOW SPEEDS. THIS STARTED ON JUNE 15, 2005. THERE WAS NO WARNING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT AT LOW SPEEDS ALL THE TIME. *AK
05 DURAMAX IS RUNNING VERY WARM AND OVERHEATING WHILE TOWING. FOUR TIMES WE HAVE TOWED AND ALL FOUR TIMES THE TRUCK RAN WARM THE LAST TIME THE HEADS UP DISPLAY SAID ENGINE OVER HEATING. THIS TRUCK IS RATED TO TOW 16,000 + POUNDS AND I'M TOWING AROUND 15,500 AND IT CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT OVERHEATING THE COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION. *JB
THIS IS MY 2ND GMC 6.0L THAT HAS BROKEN EXHAUST BOLTS FIRST TRUCK BROKE 3 BOLTS AT 32,000 MILES, REPLACED BY DEALER AND BROKE BOLTS OFF AGAIN AT 39,000 MILES. NOW HAVE 2005 WITH 51,000 MILE WITH THREE BROKEN MANIFOLD BOLTS AND AN EXHAUST LEAK. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT IS A DESIGN PROBLEM. *TR
2005 GMC SIERRA SLT VIN [XXX] I DROVE THE TRUCK 237 MILES HOME AND NOTICED IT WAS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. I CALLED GMC TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEMS. THE TRUCK HAS BINDING IN THE FRONT AXLES, BRAKES, OR DIFFERENTIAL. THIS CAUSES THE TRUCK TO UNDERSTEER HEAVILY AS THE TRUCK WORKS TO TURN THE FRONT WHEELS OVER THE ROAD SURFACE. THIS ALSO MAKES THE TRUCK DIFFICULT TO STEER, U TURNS ARE ESPECIALLY A PROBLEM, THE TRUCK HAS SLUGGISH ACCELERATION AND STAYS LONGER IN THE LOWER GEARS. THE REAR TIRES ARE PRONE TO LOSE TRACTION DUE TO THE INCREASED ROLLING RESISTANCE FROM THE FRONT WHEELS, BRAKING PERFORMANCE IS COMPROMISED, THE TRUCK WILL SWAY BACK AND FORTH AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AS THE ROLLING RESISTANCE OF THE FRONT WHEELS VARIES FROM SIDE TO SIDE. THE TRUCK TENDS TO PULL TO THE LEFT, AND THE SUSPENSION IS ALWAYS PRELOADED FROM THE ADDITIONAL STRESS. THE ENGINE LABORS TO MAINTAIN SPEED ON LEVEL GROUND WITH THE VEHICLE UNLOADED. ON OCCASION THE FRONT WHEELS WILL HOP OFF THE PAVEMENT AS IT IS EASIER FOR THEM TO COMPRESS THE SUSPENSION/TORSION BARS THAN BE TURNED OVER THE ROAD. IT IS DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT LINE WITH THE TRUCK SINCE THE FRONT WHEELS TEND TO FOLLOW THE CONTOURS OF THE ROAD. THE FRONT WHEEL ASSEMBLIES MAKE A LOW FREQUENCY SOUND WHEN DRIVING. THE TRANSMISSION, ENGINE, AND DRIVETRAIN COMPONENTS ARE ALWAYS LOADED AND DRIVING ON SNOW OR ICE WOULD BE TREACHEROUS SINCE THE FRONT WHEELS WOULD STOP TURNING ON THE LOW FRICTION SURFACE. DRIVING IN THE RAIN IS BAD ENOUGH AND THE REAR WHEELS TEND TO BREAK LOOSE. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEHAVED STRANGELY, STUTTERING ON OCCASION AS IT TRIED TO FIND THE PROPER GEAR, IT HAS SLIPPED OR FREEWHEELED AS I WENT TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. THE WRONG OIL FILTER WAS INSTALLED, THE AIR CLEANER IS LOOSE AND RATTLES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. DT: 2005 GMC SIERRA. THE VEHICLE SPRAYED FUEL OUT OF IT'S GAS TANK. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THERE WAS NO SOLUTION FOR THE PROBLEM. THE FUEL DID NOT STOP PUMPING FROM THE REAR TANK TOT HE FRONT TANK. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD NOT TO PUT FUEL IN THE REAR TANK, BUT THE GAUGES DID NOT WORK ON THE VEHICLE, AND HE DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE FRONT TANK WAS FULL. THIS HAS ALWAYS HAPPENED WITH THE VEHICLE. HE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP 3 HOURS AFTER PURCHASING IT AND TOLD THEM OF THE PROBLEM. HE HAS ALSO CALLED GENERAL MOTORS AND THEY KNOW IT WAS A PROBLEM, BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE A SOLUTION FOR IT. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE SPRAYED DIESEL FUEL ALL OVER A MOTORCYCLIST, SOAKING HIM IN FUEL. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER, THEY REACH IN AND BEND THE FLOW OUT OF THE WAY, BUT IT DID NOT FIX IT.*AK *NM
DT: THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE RAN HIS VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD, RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WENT OVER AN EMBANKMENT . UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES. *AK UPDATED 11/29/05. *JB
DT: A NEW TIRE HAD A TREAD SEPARATION. GMC TRUCK THAT IS ONLY 4 MONTHS OLD. THE TIRE FAILED, AND THERE WAS A SEPARATION OF TREAD. *AK THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE OUTSIDE TREAD. *SC
DT: THE CONTACT STATES WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS HE EXPERIENCED AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH TIRE FAILURE. HE DOES NOT BELIEVE THIS IS RELATED TO ANY ROAD HAZARDS. HE HAS EXPERIENCED COMPLETE TREAD SEPARATION ON ALL FOUR TIRES. HE HAS BEEN CONSULTING WITH THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURE REGARDING THIS ONGOING PROBLEM. HE HAS REPLACED THE TIRES WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND OF TIRES AT HIS OWN EXPENSE. THE DEALER REPLACED ONE OF THE TIRES. HOWEVER AT THIS TIME THE MANUFACTURER IS UNWILLING TO OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING SHAFT DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH GREASE AND CAUSES THE STEERING TO STIFFEN UP WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST FIVE TIMES FOR THE STEERING SHAFT TO BE RE-GREASED, BUT THAT HAS NOT REMEDIED THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT FEELS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE STEERING STIFFENS AND MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE, WHICH COULD LEAD TO A CRASH. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.

DT: WHEN THE CONSUMER PRESSES THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY DOWN IT DOES NOT SPEED UP QUICKLY. IT IS A FEW MOMENTS BEFORE THE VEHICLE WILL SPEED UP. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE PURCHASE. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE PASSING GEAR AND THE RESUME ON THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHETHER OR NOT THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ON. WHEN THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, THEY TOLD HIM THAT IT WAS HOW THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED.*AK
GMC SIERRA 1500 CREW CAB; HILE DRIVING AT INTERSTATE SPEED, THE DRIVESHAFT FELL OFF THE VEHICLE AND SHATTERED. THERE WAS SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE INCLUDING MUFFLER, YOKE, HEAT SHIELD & DRIVESHAFT. THESE PARTS WERE REPLACED WITH NEW MANUFACTURER PROVIDED PARTS. *AK
I HAVE ISSUES WITH MY ALIGNMENT, DEALERSHIP CAN NOT FIX THE PROBLEM IT HAS BEEN IN SERVICE 9 TIMES FOR THE ALIGNMENT. I ALSO HAVE KNOCKING NOISE AND A STEERING SHAFT PROBLEM AGAIN DEALERSHIP HAS NOT RESOLVED THE ISSUE. *JB
STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT RATTLES / HAS EXCESSIVE SLACK IN IT. HAVE HAD IT REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY AND IS NOW DOING IT AGAIN. DEALER WILL NOT FIX AGAIN WITHOUT CHARGING. I FEEL LIKE IT IS A DANGER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. HAVE FOUND MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM VIA THE INTERNET. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE AND THE STEERING COLUMN BEGAN TO VIBRATE. HE DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE I SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SOON AFTER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ON THREE MORE OCCASIONS DUE TO THIS FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER BECAUSE HE RECENTLY BEGAN HEARING THE KNOCKING NOISE AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND INFORMED HIM TO RETURN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND STATED THAT THE I SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THIS TIME. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
WHEN BOUGHT NEW, BETWEEN 40 AND 60 MPH THERE IS A BOUNCING IN THE SUSPENSION. FIX WAS TO PLACE 400 LBS JUST BEHIND THE TAILGATE. I PUT 330 LBS ACROSS THE REAR AXIAL WITH GOOD BALANCED TIRES. BEEN THIS WAY SINCE 2005 AND IT'S A STUPID FIX.
DT: THE ENGINE HAS DIED, ONCE WHILE DRIVING AND ONCE AT A STOP SIGN. THE TRANSMISSION WAS JUMPING AND WAS PUT IN NEUTRAL TO STEER TO ANOTHER LANE. THE OTHER TIME THERE WAS NO SIGN OF A PROBLEM BEFORE ENGINE STALLED OUT. THERE HAS BEEN MANY TIMES THIS HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP DUE TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. HAVE BEEN WITH GM A FEW TIMES AND THEY CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THEY WOULD SEND A REPRESENTATIVE TO CHECK OUT THE TRUCK. THEY NEVER SENT ONE, AS OF TODAY, GM SAID THAT THEY DIDN'T DO THAT. CONSUMER WANTED A BUY BACK. CONSUMER TALKED TO BBB TODAY, THEY SAID THAT THE CONSUMER MIGHT BE GETTING A CALL FROM GM. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES, ALL DUE TO TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE RELATED PROBLEMS. DEALER HAS TRIED TO FIX PROBLEM 3 DIFFERENT TIMES, BUT THAT IS NOT WORKING AND HAS MADE CONDITION WORSE THAN BEFORE. *TT
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE TRUCK HAD A TRANSMISSION LEAK. AFTER FIVE TIMES TRYING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM HE LET THE VEHICLE GO BACK, AND LOST MONEY ON THE TRUCK WHEN HE TRADED IT IN. HE HAD THE RECEIPTS AVAILABLE. THEY REPLACED SEALS ON THE REAR SHAFT AND THE REAR SHAFT HOUSING. HE CALLED GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY HAD A KIT SO THEY HAD TO REPLACE A BUNCH OF SEALS IN IT. THREE WEEKS LATER THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM SINCE THE DATE OF PURCHASE WHICH WAS NOVEMBER 15, 2004. ALSO, HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CD PLAYER. THEY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE ENTIRE CD PLAYER.*AK
THE CONSUMER FOUND THE DIRECTION IN THE OWNERS MANUAL ON HOW TO CHANGE THE TIRE VAGUE . WHILE CHANGING A FLAT TIRE USING THE JACK WHICH CAME AS STANDARD EQUIPMENT ON THE VEHICLE, THE JACK SLIPPED OFF THE BRACKET AND FELL SIDEWAYS. *NM THE CONSUMER AND HIS BROTHER WAS INJURED IN THE PROCESS. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE JACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WITH A LARGER BASED HYDRAULIC JACK. *JB
THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE MIRRORS DO NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE VIEW WHILE HAULING A 102 INCH WIDE CAMPER. *TC *SC *JB
THE NUTS ON THE HUB CAPS BECAME SO HOT, THEY BLEW THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE HUB CAPS OFF. THE CALIPERS, ROTORS AND HUB CAPS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. *JB THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT EH HUB CAPS WERE BEING REDESIGNED TO WITHSTAND HEAT. *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WOULD SEIZE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE TO STOP WHEN THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, CRUISE CONTROL, AND THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
MY GMC SIERRA I BOUGHT NEW IN 2006 IT HAS 68,800 MILES ON IT WHEN I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL LOST PRESSURE AND WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED AND BRAKE FLUID WAS POURING OUT WHEN I TAPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. IF I WAS MOVING AT THE TIME THIS HAPPEN SOMETHING REAL BAD COULD HAVE HAPPEN. I OWN A 1948 CHEVROLET PICKUP AND THE BRAKE LINES ARE STILL GOOD ON THAT 70 YEAR OLD TRUCK. GM IS USING POOR QUALITY PARTS FROM LOW BIDDERS ON CONTRACT PUTTING THE PUBLIC AT RISK.
