I OWN A 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500HD. I AM HAVING THE SAME ABS PROBLEMS IN CAMPAIGN # 05V379000. AS I COME TO A STOP THE ABS SYSTEM KICKS IN AND INCREASES MY STOPPING DISTANCE. *TR

TICKING NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. *TR
FOUR WHEEL DRIVE FUNCTIONS INTERMITTENTLY. REPLACED SWITCH AND TRANSFER MOTOR. EVERY 6 MONTHS FOUR WHEEL DRIVE BECOMES INOPERATIVE OFTEN AFTER A HIGHWAY RUN. COSTS TO REPAIR HAVE EXCEEDED $1000. CONVERSATIONS WITH OTHER OWNERS OF SIMILAR VEHICLES, INCLUDING SILVERADOS, EXPERIENCE SIMILAR ISSUES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. AS OF NOVEMBER 19, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT COMPLETED THEIR INSPECTION TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 69,500.
1. DRIVING ON INTERSTATE IN MY 2005 GMC SIERRA WITH MY MOTHER WHO NOTICES SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE AIR VENTS. IT WAS NOT SAFE TO OTHER VEHICLES TO PULL OVER FOR ABOUT .5 TO 1 MILE AT WHICH POINT IT WAS ALL WE COULD TO EVACUATE THE TRUCK AS IT WAS GOING UP IN FLAMES. 2. GM'S THIRD PARTY ADMINISTRATOR ESIS DENIED MY CLAIM WITHOUT EVEN CONDUCTING AN INVESTIGATION. I DID RECEIVE A LETTER FROM ESIS WITH INFORMATION ABOUT SUBMITTING A FORMAL CLAIM AGAINST GM. I NEITHER HAVE NOR CAN AFFORD AN ATTORNEY TO ASSIST ME WITH THIS DOCUMENTATION. I LOST MANY PERSONAL ITEMS INCLUDING CASH, MY WALLET, PHONE, AND TOOLS. I AM A CONTRACTOR AND HAVE MISSED MANY WEEKS FROM WORK AND HAD TO FORFEIT WORK BECAUSE I CAN NO LONGER AFFORD A RENTAL TRUCK. THIS INCIDENT HAS CAUSED ME MANY PROBLEMS AND EMBARRASSMENT BOTH FINANCIALLY AND PERSONALLY. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED AFTER 60,000 MILES. *TR
HEATER /AC FAN 5 SPEED NOT WORKING AND WIRES TO BLOWER UNDER PASS SIDE HOT TO THE TOUCH AND PLASTIC JACKET ON WIRES BURNING OFF ALSO CONNECTOR WITH SAME LEADS TO BLOWER MELTING TO SOCKET UNABLE TO UNPLUG ( UNABLE TO USE HEAT OR FAN WITHOUT BUILD OF HEAT ON WIRE) LOTS OF BURNING SMELL. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ERUPTED INTO FLAMES APPROXIMATELY THREE HOURS AFTER IT WAS PARKED. THE FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS STATED THAT THE FIRE ORIGINATED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 54,000.
WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE DIES. WE CAN'T STEER, WE CAN'T START THE TRUCK, WE CAN'T MOVE IT. WE ARE STUCK FOR AT LEAST 10 MINUTES. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES, WITH NO ANSWERS. THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG, BUT THE TRUCK IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
THE BLOWER MOTOR WOULD WORK AND THEN NOT WORK AND WHEN IT WORKED FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, SMOKE WOULD COME OUT FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER DASHBOARD. I REMOVED THE CARDBOARD COVER AND SAW SMOKE FROM THE CONNECTION TO THE BLOWER LOTER AND THE CONNECTION WAS HOT TO THE TOUCH SO I PULLED IT OFF FROM THE BLOWER. *TR
THERE IS A PIECE OF PLASTIC UNDER THE CENTER CONSOLE WHICH PROTRUDES ABOVE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. ESPECIALLY WHEN WARM, THE PLASTIC PIECE PROTRUDES FAR ENOUGH TO CATCH MY SHOE AND HOLD IT ON THE ACCELERATOR WHEN I TRY TO BRAKE. I DID HAVE A CRASH WHEN SOMEONE STOPPED QUICKLY IN FRONT OF ME, AND I LATER HAD A NEAR MISS WHEN I WAS TRYING TO BRAKE.
PARTS OF THE CLUSTER, TACHOMETER, FUEL GAUGE, OIL PRESSURE, AMP GAUGE HAVE FAILED ONE AFTER THE OTHER. ALTHOUGH 04 MODEL WAS COVERED UNDER A RECALL, THE SAME EXACT CLUSTER WAS USED IN THE 05 GMC AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE AND NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SEVERAL GMC OWNERS HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE. *KB
EXITED THE INTERSTATE AND WHILE ROUNDING A CORNER WHEN I STARTED BRAKING AT LOW RPM THE STEERING LOCKED UP AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS JUMPING UNDER MY FOOT. FINALLY GOT VEHICLE STOPPED BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AS I MADE MY WAY HOME. *TR
SPEEDOMETER READS WRONG. WILL BE DOING 55 MPH AND THE SPEEDOMETER SAYS 120 MPH. AT A STOP IT SAYS I AM DOING 80 MPH. GMC WANTS OVER $500 TO FIX THIS. I AM NOT ALONE IN MY COMPLAINT THERE ARE HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS OF OTHERS. TRUCK IS NOW 6 YEARS OLD, JUST OVER 70,000 MILES. 3 TO 4 YEARS AGO (MAYBE MORE) THE #5 SPEED ON THE AIR SYSTEM BLOWER STOPPED WORKING. PERHAPS LAST SUMMER OR FALL, I CHECKED THE FUSES: ALL GOOD. I FINALLY FOUND THE WIRING HARNESS PLUG TO THE FAN AND FOUND THE #5 LINE HAD MELTED INSULATION AND THE SURFACE OF THE CONTACT PRONGS BLACKENED. I SANDED THEM AND REINSTALLED THE PLUG. ALL SPEEDS WORKED, FOR A WHILE, BUT SOON BECAME INTERMITTENT. THEN ALL SPEEDS STOPPED WORKING TOTALLY. AT LAST, I REMEMBERED THAT I STILL HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH MASTERTECH, CHECKED IT AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE HARNESS REPLACED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE WORKMAN WHO DID THE REPAIR SAID THAT THIS ITEM WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 SIERRA. WHILE I DO NOW HAVE A WORKING FAN CONTROL, I AM AFRAID TO USE THE #5 FAN SPEED. *TR
STEERING ASSEMBLY SHIMMIES RIDICULOUSLY. I HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED ABOUT THE RECALL OF THE STEERING SHAFT. CAMPAIGN # 05V018000. I AM SURE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ASSEMBLY AT THIS POINT. FORTUNATELY THERE HAVE BEEN NO CRASHES OR COMPLETE FAILURE. HOWEVER I AM ANGRY I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM, IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. I THOUGHT MY TIRES WERE OUT OF BALANCE AND HAD THAT CHECKED TWICE, AND ROTATED. I DROVE THROUGH CURVES ON CANYON ROADS EVERYDAY TO AND FROM WORK AND I NOW THAT I AM AWARE OF A PROBLEM I AM VERY CONCERNED. *AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT PROVIDING A READING. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,200.
FAN SPEED 5 WILL NOT WORK AND SPEED 4 SMELL LIKE BURNING WIRES, DRIVERS TEMP CONTROL WILL NOT WORK ONLY COLD AIR. CONNECTOR UNDER PASSENGER SIDE FAN BLACK WIRE BURNED INTO AND MELTED CONNECTOR. GMC PARTS MAN SAID THERE WAS A NATIONAL BACKORDER ON PARTS BECAUSE SO MANY WES GO BAD. *TR
THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE IT JUST QUICK WORKING CORRECTLY. THE SPEEDOMETER THAT IS ALSO PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING, AS WELL AS THE DAYTIME LIGHT ON THE FRONT IS ALWAYS BURNING OUT. *TR
AT ABOUT 30,000 MILES I NOTICED A CLUNKING IN MY STEERING COLUMN. I HAVE HAD THE FRONT END CHECK EVERYTHING IS TIGHT. I WAS TOLD IT IS IN THE STEERING COLUMN. *TR
TL* - THE CONTACT CALLED REGARDING THE 2005 GMC SIERRA. THE PASSENGER'S FRONT TIRE WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER AT 6000 MILES BECAUSE THERE WAS NO TREAD LEFT ON THE TIRE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE HAD WORN UNEVENLY, AND THE PASSENGER'S FRONT TIRE WAS STARTING TO WEAR OUT AS WELL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE IS 9,691. THE DEALER STATED THE REASON FOR THE PREMATURE WEAR WAS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ALIGNED ACCORDING TO GMC SPECS. GMC OFFERED TO GIVE THE CONTACT $500 TOWARDS THE PURCHASE OF NEW TIRES, BUT THE CONTACT REFUSED THE OFFER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,691.*AK
INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT HAS BEEN RATTLING FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW, AND MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 38,000 MILES. I'M TOLD THAT LUBRICATING IT WILL ONLY STOP IT SHORT TERM. *TR
2005 GMC SIERRA - IF THE VEHICLE SITS FOR 3-4 DAYS WITHOUT BEING DRIVEN, THE BATTERY GOES DEAD. NOTHING HAS BEEN LEFT ON. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA HYBRID TRUCK. TWO WEEKS AGO WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL AND THE BRAKES LOCKED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIFT TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE ALSO VIBRATED, AND MADE A WHISTLING SOUND. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE'S LOST POWER AT RED LIGHTS; HOWEVER, IT RESTARTED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, THEY WERE ALSO WAITING FOR A TECHNICIAN TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERE FOR THREE WEEKS. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHERE THE PARTS WERE COMING FROM, YET THEY'VE ORDERED THE PARTS. THE CONTACT WAS CURRENTLY RENTING A VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS PRESENT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND THE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT APPEARED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE WATER PUMP. THE CONTACT ALSO SPOKE TO GM AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE THE DEALER. THE CONTACT THOUGHT THERE WAS A FAILURE WITH THE BATTERY, IT WAS DEFECTIVE AND SERVICED UNDER THE WARRANTY. *AK
TRUCK HAS BEEN IN DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR SEVERE NOISE OF POWER STEERING PUMP, LOSS OF BRAKE BOOST AND STEERING ASSIST AT LOW SPEEDS. PUMP WAS REPLACED AND NOISED DISAPPEARED FOR JUST OVER 2 WEEKS AND STARTED AGAIN. DEALER EXPLAINED THAT GM IS AWARE OF PROBLEM, BUT IS ONLY TAKING CALLS ABOUT THE PROBLEM FROM ONE AREA CODE WHILE THEY TRY TO ISOLATE. DEALER THEN REPLACED THE STEERING GEAR WITH NO CORRECTION OF PROBLEM. AT A STANDSTILL, TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL ABOUT 3/4 TURN RESULTS IN COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST AND SOMETIMES BRAKE BOOST, PLUS EXCESSIVE PUMP NOISE. DEALER IS NOW TRYING TO TELL ME THIS IS NORMAL. THERE IS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN ON THIS PROBLEM. GM HAS INSTRUCTED DEALERS NOT TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP. AS THEY HAVE RECEIVED TOO MANY PUMPS UNDER WARRANTY THAT APPEAR TO HAVE NO PROBLEM. DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 1200 RPM AND STEERING RIGHT OR LEFT WILL GENERATE A GROANING NOISE THAT DROWNS CONVERSATION IN THE CAB AND AT TIMES RESULTS IN REDUCED OR FAILED BRAKE BOOST. THE SAME LOUD GROANING NOISE OCCURS WHEN SLOWING THE VEHICLE FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITHOUT ANY TURNING OF THE STEERING WHEEL, AS THE ENGINE RPM FALLS THROUGH THE 1200 RPM RANGE. SOUNDS LIKE A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM WITH AIR IN THE SYSTEM, LOW FLUID OR BEING PUSH TO OVER-CAPACITY. GM IS NOT BEING RESPONSIVE TO THE EXCESSIVE NUMBER OF CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS. I KNOW OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ON SEVERAL YEARS OF 2500HD DURAMAX TRUCKS. IT IS NOT AT ALL DIFFICULT TO FIND OTHERS WITH THIS EXACT SAME COMPLAINT. THE NOISE APPEARS TO BE AN UNDER CAPACITY HYDRAULIC SYSTEM FOR POWER STEERING AND BRAKE BOOST. GM IS EITHER IGNORING THE PROBLEM OR HOPING THE PROBLEM TRUCKS WILL EXPIRE WARRANTY. MORE OWNERS NEED TO COMPLAIN AND FORCE A RECALL TO REPAIR THIS DEFECT IN DESIGN. CONTRARY TO MY DEALER'S ASSERTION, THIS IS NOT NORMAL. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING LONG ENOUGH TO KNOW "NORMAL" AND A "PROBLEM DODGE" WHEN I SEE IT.
TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT WORKING. WHILE DRIVING REGARDLESS OF SPEED, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL DISPLAY A HIGHER SPEED OTHER THAN WHAT HE WAS DRIVING. THE SPEEDOMETER SOMETIMES REGISTERS AS HIGH AS 120 MPH, AND WHEN DECREASING SPEED THE SPEEDOMETER JAMMED AND VARIED BETWEEN NORMAL AND A HIGHER SPEED. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT, FILE # 71-473831886 WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT IS AWARE OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED DUE TO THE SPEEDOMETER, AND THE FAILURE OCCURRED FREQUENTLY. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE RAN HOT AT SPEEDS OF 50 MPH AND GREATER. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS IF IT WAS SHIFTED INTO LOW FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER ON FIVE OCCASIONS FOR THIS FAILURE. THE DEALER CURRENTLY POSSESSED THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 20,300 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.*AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE FRONT BRAKES GRABBED THEN FADED DUE TO THE FACT THE REAR BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE PADS FOUR TIMES; ONE SET OF FRONT ROTORS AND CALIPERS, AND ADJUSTED THE REAR BRAKES SIX TIMES, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT ACCIDENTALLY ENGAGED THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR INTO REVERSE WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS A RESULT, SHE FELL OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND WAS DRAGGED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO SHIFT THE GEAR INTO PARK. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY SEVEN MONTHS LATER, A SEAL ON THE TRANSMISSION BLEW OUT. THE DEALER REBUILT AND INSTALLED THE TRANSMISSION. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR SHIFTED INTO DRIVE WITHOUT WARNING. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET IN AND STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE SOFTWARE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,089.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PARKED AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE GRADUALLY MOVED. THE BRAKES AND STEERING WERE ALSO NOT WORKING. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNALS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, HOWEVER THE CONTACT HAD NOT RECEIVED RESULTS FROM THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A PENDING RECALL. UPDATED 11/30/06 *JB
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE, TACHOMETER, AND SPEEDOMETER ARE INOPERABLE, BUT ALL OTHER GAUGES, SUCH AS FUEL LEVEL, BATTERY METER, OIL PRESSURE, COOLANT TEMPERATURE, AND TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE GAS ARE STILL FUNCTIONING. OWN ANOTHER 2005 1500 WITH 32,632 WHICH HAS JUST STARTED DOING THE SAME. *TR
FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS I HAVE NOTICED THAT MY STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHEN I SLOW DOWN AT STOP SIGNS. I ALSO HAVE NOTICED A CLICKING/KNOCKING NOISE WHEN I MAKE TURNS AND I CAN FEEL IT THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL. I WILL BE SCHEDULING AN APPT. FOR THIS IMMEDIATELY. *JB
SINCE WE PURCHASED THE 2005 GMC SIERRA WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE RADIATOR HOSE BURSTING WITHIN THE FIRST FEW MONTHS AND HAVING TO HAVE IT TOWED. SINCE THEN WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL OVERHEATING PROBLEMS. THE DEALER CONSTANTLY SAYS THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. WE INSISTED THEY CHANGE THE THERMOSTAT ON ONE OF OUR TIMES THERE = THEY REPLACED THAT AND A HOSE. WE CAME HOME AND ANTI-FREEZE WAS LEAKING. WE THOUGHT IT MAY BE THEY OVERFILLED IT. THEN IT KEPT LEAKING AND THE TRUCK OVERHEATED AGAIN 4TH OR 5TH TIME. THIS WAS JUST DRIVING HOME FROM ABOUT 10 MILES. WE HAD IT TOWED IN AGAIN AND AGAIN WERE TOLD THEY CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG!!! WE WANT ANSWERS TO THIS PROBLEM. THIS TRUCK IS USED FOR OUR BUSINESS AND IN A YEAR HAVE HAD TO HAVE A NEW VEHICLE TOWED IN 3-4 TIMES AND DRIVEN IN. WE WANT ANSWERS. WE SUGGESTED THEY CHANGE THE WATER PUMP AFTER TALKING TO ANOTHER MECHANIC AND THEY SAID THEY HAD PROBLEMS WITH THAT IN A DIFFERENT YEAR TRUCK, BUT HAVE SINCE FIXED IT. SO INSTEAD THEY SEND YOU HOME AND DO NOTHING. *JB
KNOCKING NOISE AND VIBRATION IN STEERING COLUMN. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 2 OCCASIONS AND THEY'VE SAID IT'S A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND THAT THEY ARE WORKING ON A REPLACEMENT. THEY GREASED THE COLUMN TWICE AND THE VIBRATION AND NOISE ALWAYS COMES BACK. *NM
INTERMEDIATE STEERING COLUMN BEGAN RATTLING AND FELT EXTREMELY LOOSE AT 12,000 MILES. DEALERSHIP LUBED PART BUT DID NOT REPLACE. RATTLING AND LOOSE FEELING HAVE RETURNED AND TRUCK WILL EVENTUALLY NEED TO BE RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANOTHER LUBE OR A REPLACEMENT PART. CURRENTLY, I HAVE 19,000 MILES. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION ACCESSORY MODE, AN UNATTENDED CHILD SWITCHED THE COLUMN GEAR SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED DOWNHILL CRASHING INTO A TREE. MINOR INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE POLICE WERE ALERTED AND A REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A BODY SHOP FOR THE BODY DAMAGE. VEHICLE SHIMMIES WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES AT SPEEDS 45 MPH. DURING HEAVY BRAKING VEHICLE IS HARD TO CONTROL AS THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES HEAVILY. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE GARAGE 3 TIMES FOR PROBLEM. 1ST GARAGE VISIT GROOVES WERE PRESENT IN THE ROTOR 2ND VISIT ROTORS WERE TURNED AND 3RD VISIT ROTORS WERE TURNED AGAIN. WHEN CLIMBING A SIGNIFICANT GRADE , 6%, WHILE TOWING 12.500# 5TH WHEEL ON A DAY WITH HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURE , 95% ENGINE TEMPERATURE, IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO CLIMB AND REACHED ALMOST OVERHEAT WHEN I FORTUNATELY FOUND A PLACE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. INCIDENT TOOK PLACE ON THE GRAPEVINE IN CA. IF I HADN'T BEEN ABLE TO PULL OVER I WOULD HAVE BEEN STUCK IN TRAFFIC LANE WITH 18 WHEELERS RIGHT BEHIND ME. 2 DEALERS WERE UNABLE TO HELP.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE DRIVES HIS VEHICLE UPHILL WITH A TRAILER IN TOW, THE VEHICLE SLAMS INTO THIRD GEAR, JERKS, AND OVERHEATS. THE FAILURE OCCURS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. UPDATED 5/13/08 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED SEVERAL DEALERS WERE TELLING HIM DIFFERENT THINGS AS TO WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE. ONE DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER THE WRONG TRANSFER CASE WAS IN THE VEHICLE. A NEW SERPENTINE BELT WAS INSTALLED, THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL WAS REPLACED, BECAUSE THE AXLE SHAFT WAS STUCK, THE AXLE SEAL WAS LEAKING AND BOTH HIGH PRESSURE LINES OF THE HYDROBOOST WERE LEAKING AS WELL. THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CHARGE AIR COOLER WAS LEAKING RESIDUAL OIL FROM THE LOWER RIGHT CORNER. UPDATED 05/13/08.
RETURNED TO DEALER 4 TIMES FOR: BRAKES GOING OUT (4 NEW SETS INSTALLED) ABNORMAL WEAR ON TIRES (F) VALVES CHATTERING AT 10-65 MPH RETURNED TO DEALER 3 TIMES FOR: STEERING SECTOR KNOCKING FRONT AXLE MAKING WARPING NOISE TRANSMISSION CLUNKING WHEN SHIFTING UP OR DOWN RETURNED TO DEALER 2 TIMES FOR: VARIOUS ELECTRICAL/LIGHT PROBLEMS SMOKING IN PASSING GEAR OR HARD TAKE OFF ALL OF THE ABOVE PROBLEMS ARE STILL ON-GOING AND HAVE NOT BEEN REPAIRED. *TR
THE STEERING WAS MAKING A CLANKING NOISE. WHEN IT GOT WORSE I TOOK IT TO DEALER UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEY FIXED IT BY REPLACING IT WITH GREASE. THEY STATED THAT WHEN IT RETURNE D AND I WILL BE OUT OF WARRANTY I WILL HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED" AGAIN.*AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHER SPEEDS THE VEHICLE PULSATED AND UNDER PANIC BRAKING THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LOCKED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER ON FIVE OCCASIONS FOR THIS PROBLEM WHERE THE DEALER, ON THE LAST VISIT, REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS AND THE REAR DRUMS. AFTER 4000 MILES THE PROBLEM RECURRED. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE BREAK PADS, ROTORS, SHOES, AND DRUMS. AT ONLY 30,000 MILES, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS ON 5 OCCASSION TO GRIND DOWN THE BRAKES AND ROTORS. NONE OF THE REPAIRS FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE PROBLEM WAS AT 20,000 MILES. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERNS THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT NEED THIS MANY REPAIRS AT THIS MILEAGE . THERE WERE NO INCIDENTS PRIOR TO THIS PROBLEM THAT CAUSED THE BRAKES TO GO BAD.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ALL MY TRUCK LIGHTS DIM VERY LOW WHEN I ROLL THE WINDOWS UP OR DOWN WHEN DRIVING, WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES ALL LIGHTS DIM AND VOT. DROPS WE HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO THE SHOP A LOT FOR THIS AND STILL NO FIX. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON AND MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE DOESN'T WORK I TOOK IT IN AND THEY SAID THIS PROBLEM IS ONLY IN ALASKA AND THERE IS NO FIX. FRONT DIFF HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE THE DAY WE PICKED IT UP THE HAVE FIXED DIFFERENT THINGS ON IT. *JB

ALTHOUGH THERE WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT, THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT FENDER, THE COMPRESSOR AND THE RIGHT REAR TIRE OF THE VEHICLE WHILE BEING TOWED. THE CONTACT INCURRED AN INJURY TO LEFT KNEE. THERE WAS NO POLICE REPORT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SERVICE DEALER WHERE THE FUEL SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDED LOCATIONS FOR THE TRAILER AND COMPRESSOR TO BE REPAIRED.
