DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, A PASSING MOTORIST MOTIONED TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WHITE SMOKE ERUPTED FROM BETWEEN THE BED AND CAB OF THE TRUCK AS WELL AS UNDERNEATH. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ALERTED, AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. ALSO, THE POLICE WERE ALERTED, AND A REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE FIRE DAMAGE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THERE WAS A SMALL HOLE IN THE FUEL TANK WHICH RESULTED IN GASOLINE LEAKING ONTO A NEARBY WIRING HARNESS AND ULTIMATELY CAUSING AN IGNITION SOURCE WHICH LED TO A FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ALERTED.
MY TIRES STARTED FALLING APART AROUND 11000 MILES. THE SIDEWALLS ARE INDENTING AND THE TREAD IS COMING OFF THE TIRE AS WELL AS EXTREME FEATHERING. THE DEALER HAS TESTED THE ALIGNMENT AND BALANCE. I CURRENTLY HAVE 13000 ON MY TRUCK AND FINALLY GOT THE DEALER TO REPLACE THEM BUT ONLY WITH THE SAME BRAND OF TIRE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TOWING THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED TO A LOWER GEAR WHICH CAUSED THE TIRES TO SKID. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE BOUNCED UNCONTROLLABLY WHEN HITTING A RUT IN THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO DETERMINED BIGGER SHOCKS NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. UPDATED 10/17/2006 - *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 3500. WHILE DRIVING 10-75 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED. THERE WAS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WOULD RESTART BY ITSELF AFTER DRIFTING FOR 50 YARDS. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THICK, BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE OCCASIONALLY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE EXHAUST AND INSTALLED A NEW PROGRAMMER; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,439.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL WOBBLED FROM SIDE TO SIDE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WERE LOOSE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER NEW WHEEL BEARINGS WERE INSTALLED, THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED BEFORE PULLING A NEWLY PURCHASED VEHICLE OFF THE DEALER'S LOT, A VIBRATION WAS NOTICED. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE OBSERVATION AND THEY STATED THAT THE VIBRATION WAS COMING FROM THE TIRE DUE TO SITTING FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME IN THE LOT. THE VEHICLE HAS CONSISTENTLY VIBRATED ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF 65 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE VIBRATIONS WERE COMING FROM THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE.
AIR CONDITIONER FAN RESISTOR FAILED FILLING PICKUP CAB WITH SMOKE. WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY AND FAILED AGAIN, BURNING PART OF THE WIRING HARNESS. *NM
2006 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD BRAKE PEDAL FEELS SPONGY AND HARDER TO STOP WHILE TOWING A BOAT. *KB THE HYDROBOOST SEEMS TO EMIT A HUMMING SOUND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS APPLIED. THE INCIDENT OCCURS WHEN THE TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE REACHES 180- 190 DEGREES ACCORDING TO THE GAUGE. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL VALVE SYSTEM BLISTERED CAUSING AN AIR LEAK. THE CONTACT CHANGED THE TIRE AND THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THE VEHICLE LOST CONTROL AND WAS IN A SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED.
2006 GMC SIERRA 1500 CREW CAB. ONLY A YEAR OLD AND WITH LESS THAN 15,000 MILES, THE RIGHT TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY FELL OFF. THERE HAD BEEN NO ACCIDENT, IMPACT OR ABUSE. THE CAUSE WAS THE BREAKING OF THE TWO PLASTIC THREADS IN THE TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY. THESE FLIMSY, WEAK, THREADED PARTS ARE ALL THAT HOLD THE TAILLIGHT ON AND ARE CLEARLY INADEQUATE FOR THE LOAD. THIS SHOULD NOT BE A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM; IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT. THERE SHOULD BE SOME METAL HOLDING THE SCREWS, NOT THIN PLASTIC. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED HARD WHEN SWITCHING GEARS. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE VALVE BODY INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. GMC OF PLATTSBURGH, NEW YORK (518)-563-2000 WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH CASE NUMBER: 8-3309303524. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000. UPDATED 12/13/2017 *LN CONSUMER STATED DOES NOT SHIFT DOWN GOING DOWN HILLS HALF TO RIDE BRAKES AT ALL TIMES. LIGHT DID NOT COME ON WHEN WE HAD TROUBLE WITH ABS CABLE TO WHEEL BEARING, YOU LOSE BRAKE POWER. ALSO TRANSMISSON DOES NOT SHIFT DOWN. UPDATED 7/18/18*JB
BRAKES MAKING NOISE AT REAR OF VEHICLE THEY HOWLED, I HAVE THE BRAKES RESUFACED AT 12,000 AND AGAIN AT 24000 AND THEY STILL MAKE NOISE. THE DRIVERS SEAT POPS AND CRACKES AND MAKES A METAL TO METAL NOISE IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED COUNTLESS TIMES AND IT STILL MAKES A OBSENE NOISE. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AT A LOW SPEED, THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL COLLAPSED TO THE PAVEMENT WITHOUT WARNING. UPON INSPECTION, THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE WAS INTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE FRONT TIE ROD FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
VEHICLE- 2006 GMC SIERRA 2500HD 4X4 DURAMAX/ALLISON THERE IS A VERY NOTICEABLE CLUNK/LOOSENESS IN THE STEERING. I HAVE GREASED/LUBRICATED THE WHOLE STEERING MECHANISM WITH NO REDUCTION IN THE PROBLEM. MY FEAR IS THE LOOSENESS WILL RESULT IN A COMPLETE FAILURE OR LOSS OF STEERING. PRIOR TO THAT I FEAR POOR DRIVING/MANEUVER ABILITY WHILE THIS ISSUE PERSIST. *JB
WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FROM 2ND TO 3RD THERE IS A HARD CLUNKING, ALSO WHEN IT DOWN SHIFTS FROM 3RD TO 2ND. I HAVE HAD THIS 2006 GMC FOR ONLY 10 MONTHS AND I PURCHASED IT NEW. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER FOR THE PROBLEM AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS IS NORMAL NOISE FOR A FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. I HAVE HAD MANY 4X4 GMS IN THE PAST AND NOT ONE OF THEM HAS HAD THIS KIND OF A SHIFTING PROBLEM. I HAVE PURCHASED THREE NEW GM'S IN THE LAST 4 YEARS AND I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH ALL OF THEM, I THINK I'M GOING TO TRADE IT IN FOR A TOYOTA. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE'S HYDROBOOST WAS TOO SMALL FOR THE TRUCK AND MADE TOO MUCH NOISE WHEN THE BRAKES OR STEERING WERE USED. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE VEHICLE HAS NO PROBLEMS, BUT THE CONTACT EXPRESSED THERE WILL BE DIFFICULTY DOING TOWING WORK PARTICULARLY GOING UPHILL AND DOWNHILL. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY TWO MONTHS OLD AND HAS BEEN DEMONSTRATING THIS PROBLEM SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE SECOND MONTH.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THREE OF THE FOUR ORIGINAL TIRES HAVE GONE FLAT BECAUSE THE VALVE STEMS LEAK AIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE VALVE STEMS WERE REPLACED. *AK
BRAKES FADE NEAR THE END OF A BRAKING CYCLE. NO WARNING LIGHTS DISPLAYED EVEN THOUGH BRAKE PEDAL FELT LIKE IT HAD INCREASED TRAVEL OR MUSHINESS. CAUSE; EXCESSIVE AND PREMATURE CORROSION AND PITTING OF ALL FOUR ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT BRAKE ROTORS. ALSO, EXCESSIVE CORROSION OF BRAKE SENSORS AND BRAKE CALIPERS NECESSITATES AN EXTENSIVE REPAIR. ORIGINAL BRAKE PADS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION REPAIRS NEEDED; REPLACEMENT OF ROTORS, SENSOR, CALIPERS AND BRAKE PADS. BOLTS SEIZED BY CORROSION BROKE ON REMOVAL OF BRAKE COMPONENTS AND THIS RESULTED IN REPLACEMENT OF SENSOR AND ALL CALIPERS. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $2100.00. MY OPINION; POOR QUALITY METALS IN ORIGINAL FACTORY ROTORS CAUSED A SIGNIFICANT BRAKE FAILURE ON THIS VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED BRAKING SAFETY ISSUES AND AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE; POOR BRAKING OCCURS AND THE HIGH COST OF REPAIR WILL MEAN SOME OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE WILL PUT OFF REPAIRS AND CONTINUE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE WITH DAMAGED BRAKE SYSTEMS. I THINK THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED BECAUSE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD TAKE AT LEAST SOME RESPONSIBILITY TO REPAIR THIS MODEL. THE 2500 (3/4 TON) SERIES THAT I OWN IS MOSTLY USED BY CONTRACTORS AND OTHERS WHO PULL OR HAUL HEAVY LOADS. SO, THE BRAKES REALLY DO NEED TO WORK. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 50 MPH, A BUMPING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE CONTACT LOOKED IN THE REARVIEW MIRROR, NOTHING WAS NOTICED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT FOUND THE DRIVER SIDE TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS HANGING BY THE WIRES. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE TABS HOLDING THE TAILLIGHT FRACTURED AND ORDERED A NEW TAILLIGHT ASSEMBLY.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED AN INCORRECT READING UP TO 10 MPH MORE THAN THE DRIVEN SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS SEEN BY A DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THIS WAS DUE TO THE OVERSIZED TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WHICH AFFECTED THE OVERALL TELEMETRY. THE VEHICLE WAS SENT TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP AND AN AFTER MARKET HYPER-TECH COMPUTER CHIP WAS INSTALLED TO OVERRIDE THE COMPUTERIZED TELEMETRY OF THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 05/30/06. *AK
SEATS POPPING NOISE WHEN WEIGHT SHIFTS (START,STOP,ETC.)FIRST ATTEMPT WAS TO REPLACE THE SEAT BACK. SECOND WAS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE SEAT MINUS THE COVER. THIRD TIME IN THE SERVICE MANAGER WANTED TO CONTACT THE AREA GM MANAGER FOR DIRECTION. THE GM AREA MANAGER TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER TO MAKE NO REPAIR AND DIRECT ME TO CALL GM. THIS TRUCK ALSO HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE TO THE BRAKE ROTORS TO BE RE SURFACED WITH ONLY 4,600 MILES ON THE TRUCK. THE TRANSMISSION HAS RE CALIBRATED TWO TIMES ONE FOR THE LOCK-UP TORQUE CONVERTER,AND ONCE FOR A HARD SHIFT FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. THE TRUCK HAS A HARDER SHIFT NOW THAN BEFORE. *JB
LOSS OF TRACTION ON WET ROAD , HIT ROCK CUT AT 50 MPH NO BRAKE NO ANTI-LOCK NO STEERING NO CONTROL . VERY THIN WATER ON ROAD DID NOT FELL SLICK AFTER CRASH BY HAND OR MY SHOES. 8JB
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006/GMC/SIERRA 1500, WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH TIRE SIDEWALL BLEW OUT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2000 MILES. THE CONTACT'S TIRES ARE GENERAL TIRE & RUBBER CO. , SIZE P235/70R16. THESE WERE THE ORIGINAL TIRES, THE VEHICLE WAS DELIVERED WITH PASSENGER TIRES NOT LIGHT TRUCK TIRES. THE DEALER WOULD NOT ADJUST THE TIRE, BUT RECOMMENDED FOR THE TIRES TO BE REPLACED AT SEARS. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE TIRES AT HIS OWN EXPENSE. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHEN HE APPLIED THE BRAKE. AFTER THREE ATTEMPTS THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. ANOTHER DEALER INFORMED HIM THIS WAS THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HIM TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. *AK UPDATED 11/29/05. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THAT AS SOON AS HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE SOME KIND OF SMELL STARTED, AND THEN IT STARTED MAKING A RUBBING NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE THE SERPENTINE BELT OR SOME KIND BEARINGS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS MAKING THE NOISE. *AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE INEFFECTIVE AND EXCESSIVE PRESSURE HAD TO BE APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO FULLY STOP THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SULLIVAN AUTOMOTIVE GROUP (2406 N SECTION ST, SULLIVAN, IN 47882, 812-268-4321), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 0. *BF *TR
2006 GMC 1500 SIERRA WITH 16,734 MILES, THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGES AROUND 5 MPH AND WHEN THE TRUCK WILL ACTUALLY STOP IS ANY ONE'S GUESS. VERY DANGEROUS IN PARKING LOTS, AND AROUND PEDESTRIANS AS WELL AS NORMAL DRIVING. I SEE THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB. PLEASE PUT MY TAX DOLLARS TO WORK AND DO SOMETHING. 2006 GMC SIERRA WITH A FRONT WHEEL BEARING BURN OUT. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE WHEEL BEARING BURN OUT WAS PRIOR TO THE TIRE WEARING OUT. GM DECIDED TO SEAL THE BEARING TO PROLONG THE LIFE. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH. ONCE HE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED THE BRAKE LINE HAD BROKEN AND A FIRE HAD IGNITED UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE AXLE AND ALL THE BRAKE COMPONENTS HAD TO BE REPLACED. *JB
