TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE SERVICE 4-WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE TRANSFER CASE ENCODER MOTOR AND TRANSFER CASE SELECTOR SWITCH WERE BOTH REPLACED. THREE YEARS LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CONTACT'S PERSONAL MECHANIC AND THE SAME PARTS WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,012 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 115,603 UPDATED 7/26/12*CN UPDATED 08/07/12
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A NON-LEVELED SURFACE, IT ROLLED BACKWARDS INTO A RIVER. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. AFTER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT CONCLUDED THAT THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT ENGAGE ITSELF INTO PARK, WHICH ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE. HE IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 54,000. UPDATED 5/7/09 *CN UPDATED 05/12/09.*JB
I HAVE A 2006 GMC SIERRA 2500 WITH THE LBZ DURAMAX AND ALLISON TRANSMISSION. TWO OF THE TRANSMISSION COOLANT LINES BEGAN LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID AT THE CRIMP ENDS IN MARCH OF 2009. THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 32,000 MILES, BUT WAS 3 MONTHS BEYOND THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY PERIOD. SERVICE UNDER WARRANTY WAS DENIED. AN ON-LINE SEARCH REVEALS SEVERAL OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THAT THE DEALER INSTALLED OEM REPLACEMENT LINES ARE NO BETTER (DEVELOPING LEAKS SOON AFTER REPLACEMENT), YET NO TSB OR CORRECTIVE ACTION HAS BEEN ISSUED BY GM. LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID IS A FIRE AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. THE LEAKS ARE GETTING WORSE. *TR
NEW LOOKING SNOW TIRE, TREAD SEPARATED FROM TIRE. APPROX. 62 MPH DOING DAMAGE TO TRUCK WHEEL WELL. TIRE DID NOT GO FLAT. CHECK OTHER THREE MATCHING TIRES , ALL LOOKED OK. CONTINUED ON TRIP, PARKED FOR THE NIGHT. APPROX. 70 MORE MILES INTO TRIP OTHER REAR TIRE SEPARATED AND WENT FLAT, CAUSING DAMAGE TO OTHER SIDE OF PICKUP WHEEL WELL. CALLED AAA TOW TO TIRE STORE FOR A NEW SET OF FOUR. PICKUP IS AN GMC 2500 HD, 2006. BETWEEN THE TWO SEPARATIONS APPROX. 6500.00 DOLLARS DAMAGE. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD WITH 32000 MILES. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES AND ROTORS TWICE BECAUSE THEY HAVE RUSTED AND ROTTED AWAY. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY EXHAUST BECAUSE OF RUST AND THE ENTIRE UNDER CARRIAGE AND FRAME ARE HEAVILY RUSTED. I HAVE JUST RECENTLY NOTICED THAT THERE IS EVEN RUST INSIDE THE CAB, INTERIOR DOORS, CHROME IS BUBBLING. *TR
2006 GMC SIERRA BRAKE ISSUES. ROTORS HAVE BEEN TURNED 6 PLUS TIMES IN 90K MILES. BRAKES SQUEAK, PULSATE, AND VIBRATE CONTINUOUSLY. DEALER HAS CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES AND ADVISED THAT I JUST NEED MY ROTORS TURNED. *TR
HEATER AND A/C BLOWER MALFUNCTION. WIRES AND CONNECTORS WERE HOT TO THE TOUCH AND AFTER A CLOSER LOOK WIRES PROTECTIVE WIRE COVER WERE EXPOSED AND CONNECTORS WERE MELTED THROUGH. THERE WAS ALSO SMOKE IN THE CAB. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD GOING 35 MILES AN HOUR AND NOTICED A LOUD GRINDING NOISE THEN MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON. MY STEERING WAS MUCH LESS RESPONSIVE. I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD AND MY TRUCK RAN INTO A FENCE. I HAD TO CHANGE THE WHEEL BEARINGS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *TR
I AM THE SHOP FOREMAN FOR A CONSTRUCTION COMPANY IN ALASKA. I DROPPED OFF A 2006 GMC 2500 PICKUP LAST WEEK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A LEAK LOOKED AT. I GOT A CALL BACK FROM THEM SAYING MY TORQUE CONVERTER WAS BLOWN. THEY SAID GMC IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ALLISON TRANSMISSION AT COLD TEMPS (CAMPAIGN # 07293) I HAD THIS TRUCK IN AT 25000 MILES TO BE RE-PROGRAMMED AND AGAIN AT 49000 MILES. NOW, AT 58,000 MILES THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS BLOWN AND AFTER ARGUING WITH GMC, THEY WILL NOT WARRANTY THE WORK, THEY WANT ME TO PAY HALF OF THE 3200. I DROVE UP IN OUT COMPANY'S BRAND NEW '08 GMC 3500, HAD THE DEALERS MECHANIC LOOK AT IT. HE SNIFFED THE TRANNY DIPSTICK, GRIMMANCED, AND SAID THAT IT TOO WAS BLOWN. AT 4120 MILES, ANOTHER BLOWN TORQUE CONVERTER. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID 17 TRUCKS SO FAR IN FAIRBANKS ALASKA HAVE SUFFERED SIMILAR FATES, DUE TO THIS MANUFACTURER ERROR. I AM LIVID, TO SAY THE LEAST! GMC NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS, AND OWNERS NEED TO BE CONTACTED AND TOLD THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM! THERE IS A SAFETY ANGLE AS WELL, ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC--AT A STOP LIGHT, THE TORQUE CONVERTER WENT OUT, LOCKED UP, AND PUSHED THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE LIGHT! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED ON HIS VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FRONT END, HOOD, AND GRILL WERE DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FROM THE SCENE AND RETURNED TO THE SHOP IT WAS REPAIRED AT THREE MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAS CALLED DIFFERENT GMC DEALERS AND REPAIR SHOPS TO PURCHASE A MASTER CYLINDER, BUT THERE ARE NONE IN STOCK. IT WOULD TAKE A WEEK FOR THE PART TO ARRIVE SO THAT THE REPAIR CAN BE COMPLETED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
DRIVING INTERSTATE 95 LEFT FRONT WHEEL BEARING FAILURE CAUSING LOUD NOISE AND STEERING SHAKE. *TR
I OWN A 2006 GMC 2500HD DURAMAX/ALLISON CREW CAB. I TOOK OWNERSHIP IN FEB OF 2007 WITH 32K MILES. TRANSMISSION LINES WERE LEAKING AT THAT TIME. DEALER REPLACED THE LINES UNDER WARRANTY. NOW AT 100K MILES AND SAME "NEW" LINES ARE LEAKING ONCE AGAIN. THIS IS A FLAMMABLE FLUID AND CONSTITUTES A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. *TR
GENERAL AMERITRAC TIRES ON A 2006 GMC SIERRA CREW CAB 2WD ARE SHOWING EXCESSIVE WEAR AND TREAD LOSS. THE TIRES HAVE ONLY 24000 MILES AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. DURING A RECENT RAINSTORM I WAS HYDROPLANING ON THE FREEWAY. THE TIRES HAVE HARDLY ANY TREAD LEFT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FRONT TIRES. THE TIRES WILL BE REPLACED IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE BLOWER MOTOR STOPPED WORKING. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE RESISTOR FOR THE FAN MOTOR OVERHEATED AND FUSED WITH THE WIRING HARNESS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,422 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
THIS COMPLAINT IS ABOUT AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE WIRING AND PLUG GOING TO THE FAN MOTOR ON THE INSIDE CAB OF MY 2006 GMC TRUCK. THIS TRUCK HAS 43000 MILES ON IT AND CARRIED IT IN TO BE FIXED AND WAS TOLD NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE I FEEL THAT THIS IS A HAZARD. THIS PLUG HAS BEEN GOING BAD FOR SOME TIME NOW BECAUSE I COULD SMELL THE ODOR IN THE TRUCK BUT COULD NOT PINPOINT WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. AFTER THE FAN MOTOR STOPPED WORKING I TRACED THE PROBLEM DOWN TO THE PLUG AND FOUND WHERE IT HAD BEEN MELTING AWAY. THIS IS WHEN I DROVE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A DEFECT AND NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE A WARRANTY ISSUE. THIS PLUG GOT VERY HOT FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME AND MELTED IT COULD HAVE STARTED A FIRE. *TR
DOWN HILL AT 80MPH BRAKES ON MY 2006 GMC 1500 CAUSED MY STEERING WHEEL TO SHAKE SO HARD MY HEART WAS IN MY PANTS. 18K MILES ON MY TRUCK AND HAD TO HAVE MY ROTORS TURNED AND SHOES ADJUSTED IN REAR DRUMS. SIGN OF GLOBAL MARKET. LOW BIDDER GETS THE JOB TO MFG ALL PARTS AND YOU GUYS AT NHTSA GET A PAY X TWICE A MONTH. NHTSA HAS TWO OTHER STORIES RE BAD BRAKES ON 2006 GMC 1500. NO ACTION UNTIL SOMEONE GET HURT IS THE WORD OF THE DAY. PS: I DON'T DRIVE AT 80MPH BUT GET FAST ON CA ROUTE 15 OR GET RUN OVER BY CAR/BIG RIGS SO YOU SHOULD AT ALL TIMES HAVE PERFECT BRAKES AND WORRY ABOUT THE OTHER SMALL STUFF.PLS CALL GM AND TELL THEM MY LIFE IS IN THEIR HANDS AND IN THE COMING YEARS NO MORE GM PRODUCTS FOR ME IF THEY CAN'T MFG A BRAKE SYSTEM THAT CAN GO MORE THEN 18K. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER WOULD SHUT OFF INDEPENDETLY AND THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL BURNING ODOR NEAR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS DEACTIVATED, THE BURNING SMELL CEASED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWELVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. JCC
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 2500. THE CONTACT HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLE WITH THE WRONG HYDRAULIC FLUID IN THE CLUTCH SYSTEM. THIS COULD CAUSE THE CLUTCH TO FAIL WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSES THE CLUTCH PEDAL, IT DOES NOT ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION AND STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY. THE CLUTCH AND ALL THE HYDRAULIC PARTS WERE REPLACED MORE THAN ONCE, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTS. HE CALLED GMC AND WAS INFORMED THAT ALL THE VEHICLES WERE MADE WITH THE INCORRECT FLUID. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
DRIVING INTERSTATE 95 RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING FAILURE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE CONTACT HEARD AN EXCESSIVELY LOUD GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE NOISE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY REPLACED THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS AND HUBS UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR IDENTICAL FAILURES, BUT THERE WERE NO RESOLUTIONS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE LOUD NOISE WAS NORMAL. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE IF HIS VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07E106000 (WHEELS:CAP/COVER/HUB). CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
WENT TO GMC DEALER BECAUSE TRUCK HAS A TRANSMISSION OIL LEAK. TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT ALL THREE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINE ARE LEAKING. ACCORDING TO INTERNET FORUM (HTTP://DIESELPLACE.COM/FORUM/SHOWTHREAD.PHP?T=202078), THIS IS A KNOW DEFECT ON THE 2006 SILVERADO AND SIERRA TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH DIESEL ENGINE AND ALLISON AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. SEVERAL OWNERS HAVE HAD 2 OR MORE INCIDENTS. REPLACEMENT LINES ARE NO BETTER THAN THE ORIGINALS. I AM AN ENGINEER AND HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN VEHICLE FIRE INVESTIGATIONS IN THE PAST, SOME WERE CAUSED BY LEAKING TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES DRIPPING ON HOT EXHAUST PIPES AND MANIFOLDS. THIS IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD! THIS REQUIRES A NEW DESIGN FOR THESE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINES. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 GMC SIERRA THAT HAS HAD TRANSMISSION LINES REPLACED AND THAT KEEP HAVING TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF HOSE LEAKING EVERY YEAR. *TR
TRANSMISSION COOLER LINE LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID AT AN ALUMINUM CRIMP THAT CONNECTS A RUBBER HOSE TO THE TRANSMISSION COOLER; AN INFERIOR DESIGN. AS SUCH, A TRANSMISSION OIL LEAK IS A FIRE HAZARD. I AM AWARE OF TWO CAR FIRES THAT WERE CAUSED BY LEAKING TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES. THE LAST ONE INVOLVED A FORD TAURUS STATION WAGON WHERE THE OWNER HAD THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT BY HIS LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP (A NATIONAL FRANCHISE TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP) AND THEY CROSS-THREADED THE LOWER COOLER LINE AT THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED ON TO THE EXHAUST CROSS-OVER PIPE AND THE CAR BURNED TO THE GROUND ON THE SIDE OF ROAD IN THE INTERSTATE. THE OWNER'S INSURANCE COMPANY SUBROGATED AGAINST THE TRANSMISSION SHOP FOR THE DAMAGES. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE GOT HURT, BUT THEY CAME CLOSE. *TR
SUDDEN AND COMPLETE FAILURE OF BRAKES AND STEERING. STARTED VEHICLE, PLACED IN REVERSE, UNABLE TO STOP OR STEER. NO EMERGENCY ASSIST FROM ACCUMULATOR, MANUAL BRAKES ONLY. VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN NEUTRAL, THEN STOPPED WITH E-BRAKES AND SERVICE BRAKES. POWER STEERING RESERVOIR OVERFLOWING, PUDDLE ON GARAGE FLOOR OF FLUID, FLUID GUSHED WHEN CAP REMOVED. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER WHERE IT OPERATED NORMALLY! DEALER UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE AT TIME OF THIS WRITING. SIMILAR COMPLAINT FROM RELATIVE WITH THE EXACT SAME VEHICLE, HAD SAME THING HAPPEN 4 TIMES. HYDRO-BOOST SYSTEM ON A DIESEL 2500 HD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM AT THE LOWER ANCHOR POINT ON THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE, IN ADDITION TO THE NUTS THAT HOLD DOWN THE LOWER ANCHOR ARE NOT TIGHT ENOUGH FOR ANYONE USING THE LATCH SYSTEM. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 22,000.
I HAVE A 2006 GMC 2500HD THAT HAS 31000 MILES ON IT. THE TRANSMISSION COOL ER LINES ARE LEAKING AND THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THE NEW PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER, MEANWHILE THE TRUCK LEAKS TRANSMISSION OIL ON THE GROUND WHICH COULD BE A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD ALONE WITH AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. MANY GMC 2500HD OWNERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT YET A RECALL BUT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR
A/C & HEATER FAN CONTROL AND PASSENGER AIR BAG RESISTER/CONNECTOR FOUND UNDER THE PASSENGER DASH, POSSIBLE FIRE AND SAFETY ISSUES IF VEHICLE IS PARKED IN A GARAGE. *TR
TRANSMISSION COOLING PIPES HAVE BEEN REPLACE TWO TIMES IN LAST THAN 20 MONTHS BECAUSE OF FLUID LEAKING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 2500. THE FLY WHEEL, WHICH RUNS WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND HELPS CHANGE GEARS HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED THREE TIMES WITHIN TWO YEARS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH DURING THE FIRST FAILURE, THERE WAS A LOUD CLICKING NOISE AND IT BECAME LOUDER OVER TIME. THE DEALER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE NOISE WAS MUCH LOUDER; HOWEVER, A DIFFERENT DEALER 2 HOURS AWAY DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE FLY WHEEL FAILED. AFTER BEING REPAIRED 24,000 MILES AND A YEAR LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FLY WHEEL WAS REPLACED AGAIN AND LASTED 5 MONTHS BEFORE IT FAILED. THE POWER STEERING SHAFT ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO IT BEING WORN OUT AND FAILED AGAIN NINE MONTHS LATER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,800 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000. UPDATED 06/08/09 *BF THE POWER STEERING GEAR WAS LEAKING DUE TO LEAKING GEAR ASSEMBLY, THE HVAC BLOWER WAS INOPERATIVE, THE FLYWHEEL WAS CRACKED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE STRIPPED AND BROKEN EXHAUST STUDS. UPDATED 06/18/09.*JB
AT THE FIRST OIL CHANGE IN MY NEW 2006 GMC SIERRA, I FOUND PIECES OF METAL (ASSEMBLY FROM THE ENGINE) ATTACHED TO THE MAGNETIC DRAIN BOLT. SUCH IS USUALLY SYMPTOMATIC OF A DEFECTIVE BEARING OR SOMETHING. NO PROBLEM AS OF YET WITH THE VEHICLE, BUT REGISTERING THIS OBSERVATION. FOR RECORD PURPOSES. THE ATTENDANT AT THE PLACE WHERE I GOT THE OIL CHANGED SAID MY VEHICLE WAS THE FOURTH ONE HE'S OBSERVED WITH THE SAME KIND OF METAL PIECES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA. THE VEHICLE HAS GOODYEAR WRANGLER AT, SIZE LT255/85R16 TIRES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BEAD AREA OF ALL THE TIRES WAS EXTREMELY INDENTED. SHE NOTICED A HUGE BULGE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE. THE DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THE FAILURE AND REPLACED THREE OF THE SIX TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO REPLACE THE REMAINING THREE TIRES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,100 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 21,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT STRUCK A DEER. THE DEER WENT UNDER THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A TREE AT 45 MPH. THE FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE BODY SHOP. THE INSURANCE COMPANY IS INVESTIGATING THE FAILURE AND THEY ALSO WANT GMC TO EXPLAIN WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 25,300.
DRIVING 2006 GMC SIERRA PICK UP IN UTAH ON HWY 191 IN A CROSS COUNTRY MOVE AND PUSHED OFF THE ROAD TO THE SIDE BY A TRUCKER FRANTICLY TELLING ME TO RUN FROM THE TRUCK,IT WAS ON FIRE. LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT CONCLUDED THEIR INVESTIGATION THAT IT WAS THE FUEL LINE LEAKING AS CAUSE OF ORIGIN. ALSO STATE HIGHWAY PATROL CONCLUDED THE SAME AT A LATER DATE. I SUBMITTED A CLAIM FOR THE CONTENTS TO GM AND WAS LIED TO FOR 2 MONTHS BEFORE THEM SAYING IT WAS NOT THEIR FAULT. THEY INVESTIGATED THE VEHICLE WITHOUT CONSENT FROM STATE FARM. THE ONLY CONSENT WAS TO PHOTOGRAPH. THEY SPENT 3.5 HOURS COMPLETELY INVESTIGATING WITH NO SUPERVISION. THE WOMAN HANDLING THE CLAIM AT GM SAID TO ME AT THE END THAT QUOTE "SOMETIMES THEY STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND SOMETIMES THEY DON'T,SORRY" AND DENIED THE CLAIM. NOW THEY REFUSE TO SPEAK TO ME OR RELEASE THEIR REPORT SO I CAN RETAIN AN ATTORNEY. THEY HAVE LIED AND CHEATED THROUGH THIS WHOLE PROCESS WITH OTHER BURNED LATE MODEL GM PU'S ARE BURNED RIGHT NEXT TO MINE IN THAT YARD. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN STOLEN FROM, RIFLED THROUGH,A ND COMPROMISED BY RAIN AND GM. NOW IT IS FINALLY SHRINK WRAPPED IN PLASTIC AND WAITING FOR THE NEXT STEP. VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY ENOUGH TO JAR YOUR INTERNAL EQUIPMENT EVEN IF YOU GO OVER THE SMALLEST BUMP OR EXPANSION JOINT IN THE ROAD . VEHICLE HAD BANGING UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER'S FEET WHILE GOING OVER THE SLIGHTEST BUMP. ALSO VERY LOOSE FRONT END SWAY. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THE REPLACED THE LEFT FRONT TORSION BAR MOUNT, CORRECTING PROBLEM. MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN RIDE PERFORMANCE. *TR
I ATTEMPTED TO PREVIOUSLY MAKE SEVERAL REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST OF THE PROBLEMS OCCURRED WHEN DRIVING. THE SUSPENSION MADE LOUD GRINDING NOISES AND AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS MADE IT WAS REPAIRED. NOW THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO HAVE RETURNED AND I AM NOT SURE WHAT I SHOULD DO. *TR
THIS CONCERNS AN GENERAL TIRE P245/70R17. THIS TIRE WAS ON MY GMC SIERRA PICK-UP TRUCK. THESE TIRES CAME WITH THE TRUCK. WITHIN A MONTH OF OWNING THIS TRUCK THE TREAD TORE AWAY FROM THE TIRE LEAVING LARGE HOLES THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THOSE TIRES IN 2006. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED JUNE 23, 2007. THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH. IT ONLY HAD 17600 MILES ON THE TIRE. THE INCIDENT LED ME TO LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DAMAGE TO THE RIM AS I TRIED TO PULL OVER. THE DEALERSHIP SAID GENERAL WOULD NOT REPLACE THIS TIRE BECAUSE THIS CAN HAPPEN AND IS A RISK YOU TAKE, I DISAGREE. IF THIS HAD BEEN ON THE FRONT TIRE I HAVE NO DOUBT I WOULD OF EITHER CAUSED AN ACCIDENT OR LOST TOTAL CONTROL. *AK

IDENTICAL COMPLAINT WITH IDENTICAL REPAIR REPEATED 4 TIMES WITHIN 85,000 MILES. FIRST REPAIR OCCURRED AT 34,000 MILES. LATEST (4TH) PERFORMED AT 85,919 MILES. *JS

THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE GROVES NEEDING TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. THE ROTORS WERE MAKING A GRINDING NOISE AND THE DEALER WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR FREE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE ARE NO FAILURES WITH THE BRAKES. THE GROVES ARE GETTING DEEPER AND DEEPER, BUT THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. HE HAS CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT NO ONE IS INVESTIGATING THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 11,450 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000.

SUSPENSION MADE A 'THUNKING' NOISE WHILE DRIVING OVER BUMPS. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE R. REAR TENSIONER LEAF SPRING WORN OR WAS WORN AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. I NEVER GOT A STRAIGHT ANSWER AS TO WHY, BAD METAL OR WHAT? I'VE NEVER TOWED ANYTHING AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY HEAVY LOADS IN THE BED CAUSING OVER COMPRESSION OF THE LEAF SPRINGS. TRUCK HAS ALWAYS SEEMED TO LEAN TO ONE SIDE AND LOOKS LOWER THAN FACTORY HEIGHT. DEALER FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. IT NOW SEEMS TO BE MAKING A SIMILAR NOISE BUT FROM THE FRONT SUSPENSION AREA WHILE DRIVING OVER SPEED BUMPS AND INTO DRIVEWAYS. I HAVE TO VERIFY THIS AND GET IT BACK INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR MORE WORK...AND TRY TO GET ANSWERS. *JB
I WAS DRIVING DOWN AIRLINE HWY NORTH BOUND BEFORE PEQUE LANE RIGHT BY GOLF COURSE AT BRIDGE THE ROAD IS NOT REALLY A POT HOLE BUT ROAD IS VERY DISTORTED AND THE WAY I HIT IT, IT PUT A BIG EGG AND SPLIT IN MY TIRE. THIS IS AN AREA WERE IT HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR AWHILE AND IF YOU HIT THAT SPOT IT WILL MESS YOUR CAR UP OR MAKE IT HARD TO CONTROL YOUR CAR. THE TIRES I OWN ARE VERY HIGH PRICED AND I PURCHASED NOT TO LONG AGO. I WOULD LIKE HELP IN REPLACING THE TIRE. I DID GO BACK AND TAKE PICTURES OF THE AREA IN WITCH I HIT TO CAUSE THIS TO HAPPEN TO THE TIRE. THE TIRES ARE $700 TO $800 EACH BUT ONLY ONE FRONT RIGHT TIRE WAS DAMAGED. I WILL HAVE TO ORDER IT. *JB
ACCORDING TO THE DISTRICT DISTRIBUTOR REPRESENTATIVE FOR FIRESTONE HE SAID THE TERM "STONE CHIPPING" IS WHAT'S HAPPENING TO SOME OF THEIR TIRES. WHEN I LOOK AT MY TIRE, I SEE CHIPS OF RUBBER COMING OUT OF THE TIRE EVEN IN THE TREAD. *JB
