I HAVE CRACKS ON MY DASHBOARD OF MY TRUCK. BOTH ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSANGER. I'M AFRAID THAT IF I HAVE AN ACCIDENT THAT PEICES OF THE PLASTIC COULD HARM ME AND MY GRANDCHILD. ALSO COULD THE CRACKS GET BIGGER AND FORM A HOLE IN MY DASH? THAT DOES NOT SEEM VERY SAFE.
METAL BRAKE LINES RUSTED PREMATURELY @ 29,900 MILES CAUSING BRAKE LINE TO RUPTURE. THIS CAUSED BRAKE FAILURE. TRUCK HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED RUSTED BRAKE LINES. FOR FUTURE SAFETY ALL METAL BRAKE LINES ON TRUCK REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. FAILURE OCCURRED IN WORK PARKING LOT SO NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED DUE TO FAILURE.
DASH HAS CRACKED AT THE CORNER OF PASSENGER AIRBAG AND ABOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. RUSTY BRAKE LINES LOST BRAKES, THINK THAT A VEHICAL SHOULD GO 10 YEARS WITHOUT BRAKE LINES RUSTING AWAY I WAS LUCKY WHEN THEY BROKE I WAS HOME BUT JUST GOT BACK FROM ANOTHER STATE AND WAS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
I HAD A MINOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THEY WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. I HAND MY VEHICLE TOWED TO SHOP AND IT WAS FOUND THAT THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED THRU IN THE BRACKET ON THE FIREWALL.
UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS BAD AT 88K. BOUGHT FROM DEALER OCT 2015, FULL ENGINE REPLACEMENT JANUARY 2016 AT 87K
TAKATA RECALL. IN 2016 I RECEIVED A NOTICE OF POSSIBLE RECALL FOR MY AIRBAGS, A FEW WEEKS PRIOR TO RECEIVING THIS NOTICE THE CHECK AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON IN MY VEHICLE AND HAS BEEN ON SINCE. TWO YEARS OF AN AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WITH A NOTICE OF UNSAFE AIRBAGS IS CONCERNING TO ME.
DRIVER DOOR. WON'T UNLOCK HAVE TO GET OUT OF TRUCK ON RIGHT SIDE , TOOK IT TO DEALER SAID IT NOT AND EASY FIX OVER 1200 DOLLARS TO REPAIR, LOOK ON LINE A LOT OF OTHER WHO HAVE SERRIA TK HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE LOCKING SYSTEM NOT WORKING, WITH THE DOOR NOT UNLOCKING HAS TO BE A SAFTEY ISSUE.
ATTEMPTED TO START VEHICLE. FAILED TO START. WHEN TURNING THE IGNITION, ACTED AS IF THERE WAS A DEAD BATTERY. ATTEMPTED TO START AGAIN, BURNING SMELL AND SMOKE FROM THE ENGINE COVER. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. SERVICE ADVISES THAT MAIN BEARING WAS THROWN, SEIZING THE ENGINE AND SMOKE WAS FROM THE STARTER BURNING UP. ENGINE HAS 87,000 MILES. ALSO BURNS APPROXIMATELY 1 QUART OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES. VEHICLE PURCHASED OCTOBER 2015. DEALER ADVISES REPLACE WITH NEW ENGINE. REPLACEMENT IN PROGRESS. DATE OF LOSS 23 JANUARY 2016. OIL LEVEL WAS FULL.
RUSTED OUT BRAKE LINE AT 72000 MILES. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT BUT IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE I AM THE ONLY ONE. ITS A SHAME GM DOESN'T MAN UP AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM OF RUSTED OUT BRAKE LINES. LUCKILY I WAS IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE WHEN IT FAILED AND NOT RUNNING DOWN THE ROAD PULLING MY 4000 LB. BOAT. AND YES I HAVE READ ALL THE INFO ONLINE ABOUT THE NHTSB INVESTIGATING THIS PROBLEM AND LET GM OFF THE HOOK BY SAYING OWNERS SHOULD WASH THEIR CARS TO REMOVE THE ROAD SALT THAT CAUSED THIS PROBLEM. I GUESS FORD AND DODGE OWNERS CRAWL UNDER THEIR TRUCKS IN THE WINTER AND DO THIS AS THERE WAS NO INVESTIGATION ON THEM. BY THE WAY I LIVE IN TN WHERE WINTERS AREN'T THAT BAD. AND ONE OTHER THING WHAT MARKETING BUZZ SAW DECIDED IT WOULD BE BETTER NOT TO HAVE A SPLIT BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR SO AT LEAST I WOULD HAVE 1/2 OF MY SYSTEM, HAD NO BRAKES FRONT OR REAR BECAUSE OF THIS.
BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON. DUE TO BRAKE LIGHTS STAYING ON CRUISE CONTROL IS DISABLED. VEHICLE BRAKE OPERTATION IS DOING THE OPPOSITE, WHEN IN MOTION STAY ON AND WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR STOPPED BRAKE LIGHTS TURN OFF. CALLED GMC AND INFORMED THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SAME YEAR BUT FOR THE CHEVY MALIBU. TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR TO REPAIR AND PAID TO HAVE THE BODY CONTROL MODULE REPLACED ON 02/15/2016, ALMOST 7 MONTHS LATER THE ISSUE HAS RETURNED. ATTEMPTED TO HAVE DEALERSHIP THAT REPLACED PART LOOK AT BUT TOLD THERE IS ONLY A 12,000 MILE OR 12 MONTH WARRANTY AND VEHICLE HAS REACHED OVER THE 12,000 SO NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. WE WERE ALSO INFORMED THE WAS ONLY A "TEMPORARY FIX, AND THE BCM DOESN'T FIX THE BREAKS." DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THE SECOND PART THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED,WHICH WE DECLINED, WOULD HAVE PERMANENTLY FIX THE ISSUE. PART HAD ALREADY BEEN PURCHASED AT $10 AND WAS GOING TO BE CHARGED BY DEALERSHIP $150 FOR THEM TO PROVIDE AND INSTALL. CALLED GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR ASSISTANCE TO CORRECT THIS SAFETY ISSUE. GMC CALLED TO INFORM US THAT AS A COURTESY AND THE APPROVAL BY THE MANAGERS AT DEALERSHIP, WILL BE ABLE TO GIVE A $2000 VOUCHER TOWARDS A NEW VEHICLE OR USED. CALLED DAYS LATER AS VOUCHER DID NOT COME THROUGH VIA EMAIL AND INFORMED UNFORTUNATELY VOUCHER AS THE VEHICLE MUST BE UNDER 100,000 MILE FOR TRADE IN. PER GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THIS TIME UNABLE TO RESOLVE CORRECTING THE SAFETY ISSUE WITH BODY MODULE CONTROL AND IT WOULD BE THE EXPENSE OF CUSTOMER TO REPLACE AGAIN AFTER ITS BEEN REPLACED A LITTLE OVER 7 MONTHS AGO. VERY FRUSTRATED AS DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE IS 8 MONTHS PREGNANT AND DUE TO BREAK LIGHTS NOT WORKING MAY GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. WE WERE NOT INFORMED THIS WOULD ONLY BE A TEMP FIX. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V381000 (AIR BAGS) EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR REPAIR. THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTIFICATION IN JANUARY OF 2016. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH ROBBINS CHEVROLET OF HOUSTON (18611 US 59, HUMBLE, TX 77338, (281)446-3021) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAG MANUFACTURER WENT OUT OF BUSINESS. THE NEW AIR BAG MANUFACTURER USED BY GMC WAS UNABLE TO KEEP UP WITH THE AIR BAG DEMAND AND GMC DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH PARTS. THE DEALER ALSO ADVISED THE CONTACT NOT TO CRASH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND FLASHED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

AS TRUCK WAS STARTED AFTER ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND BEING PULL OUT OF GARAGE ON11/10/15 THERE WAS A FIRE UNDER THE FRONT OF TRUCK. WHEN THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED, THE MECHANIC SAW THAT THE WIRING WAS EXPOSED DUE TO CONTINUOUS SCRAPING AGAINST TRUCK FRAME.
THE PRIMER PUMP HOUSING DEVELOPS A SMALL LEAK AROUND A ELECTRICAL CONNECTION. THIS COULD LEAD TO A FIRE AS FUEL DROPS ON THE ENGINE. GM IS AWARE OF PROBLEM IT HAS BEEN ON GOING FOR SEVERAL YEARS. IT ONLY OCCURS WHEN VEHICLE IS RUNNING. NOTE-NO FIRE HAS HAPPEN TO MY VEHICLE, NOR DO I KNOW OF A FIRE OCCURRING. I JUST BELIEVE THIS IS UNSAFE. THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM IS TO REPLACE PRIMER PUMP HOUSING.
CRACKED DASH OVER DASH BEZEL AND AROUND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME DUE TO A FAILURE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED AND INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO MANUFACTURER RECALL TO ADDRESS THE REPAIR, AND PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE CONTACT NEEDED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, AND REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 16V383000 (AIR BAGS) AND 16V381000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DASH BOARD CRACKING!!! HAVE THE SLT/LTZ INTERIOR. DASH HAS CRACKED, CAUSING ME A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. SHARP PLASTIC COULD MAKE MY AIRBAGS NOT WORK PROPERLY.
THERE ARE CRACKS ON THE DASHBOARD CONNECTED TO THE AIRBAG. I'M CONCERNED THIS MAY BE A SAFETY HAZARD THAT COULD SEND SHRAPNEL IF AIRBAGS DEPLOY LIKE THE RECENT TAKATA RECALL. IT STARTED WITH ONE SMALL CRACK AND HAS DEVELOPED INTO THREE ACROSS THE DASHBOARD. THE LARGEST AROUND TEN INCHES LONG. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PREVALENT ISSUE WITH THIS AND SIMILAR GM MAKES AND MODELS BUT I DID NOT FIND A RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE ISSUE. I CONTACTED GMC AND THEY DO NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY.
DASH IS CRACKING AROUND AIR BAG LEADING TO SAFETY CONCERNS IF AIR BAG DEPLOYS WITH SHARP PLASTIC PIECES FLYING. I WILL INSTALL THE THIRD DASH IN THE TRUCK DUE TO THE CRACKING TO PREVENT INJURIES IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT.
NOTICED A PUDDLE OF FLUID ON THE GARAGE FLOOR. INVESTIGATED AND FOUND IT TO BE BRAKE FLUID. THE ENTIRE RESERVOIR EMPTIED ON THE FLOOR AFTER A DAY. I HAD A HOLE IN ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE. LOOKING UNDER THE TRUCK ALL THE LINE WERE TERRIBLY CORRODED AND COULD BREAK AT ANY TIME . TAKING IT TO MY MECHANIC NEXT WEEK TO REPLACE ALL THE LINES. 9/1/2015
MY DASH HAS LARGE GAPS/CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD. THESE RANGE FROM THE WINDSHIELD ALL THE WAY THE FRONT PIECE OF TRIP. THE DASH IS COMPLETELY SEPARATED. RIGHT IN THE CENTER OF THE DASH, AROUND THE AIRBAGS, AND THE OTHER SMALLER PARTS OR THE DASH ARE CRACKED TOO. I USE A SUN SHIELD, SO THAT IS NOT THE CASE. MY DAUGHTER AND I HAVE BOTH CUT OUR HANDS ON THE DASH. SHE WAS SO SURPRISED WHEN SHE GOT IN THE TRUCK THAT SHE ASKED IF I HAD A WRECK, AND THEN RAN HER HAND OVER THE DASH AND CUT HER PALM AD TWO FINGERS. I ALSO CUT MY HAND WHILE TRYING TO CLEAN IT SO THAT STUFF DOES NOT DROP DOWN THE CRACK, SUCH AS DIRT OR DUST, CAN'T THAT START A FIRE WITH THE WIRES AND THE HEATER DOWN THERE? ANOTHER THING IS MY VENTS DON'T WOK LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO. THE DASH IS SO BROKEN YOU CAN HEAR SOUNDS OF PLASTIC VIBRATING AND BLOWING IN THE VENTS. THIS DIRECTLY EFFECTS THE AIR FLOW TO, IT'S LIKE ITS NOT EVEN CONNECTED. THIS ALL HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE GARAGE STATIONARY NOT RUNNING.

WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE PATCHED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THIS WAS THE THIRD INSTANCE OF THE FAILURE OCCURRING ON THE VEHICLE. WILDCAT CHEVROLET (5525 HOPKINSVILLE RD, CADIZ, KY) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THE FAILURE, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE FORWARD, THE BRAKES WOULD ERRONEOUSLY ACTIVE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE SENSOR LIGHT ACTIVATED AND REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.

USES OIL..LOTS OF IT. AND WITH IT USING OIL SEEMS SLUGGISH..NO PASSING SPEED. BURNS 1 QUART EVERY 2000 MILES. LOTS OF OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES WITH OIL CONSUMPTION AND EXCELERATION
BRAKE LINES FAILED ON MY 2007 GMC 1500 AND MY 2007 GMC 2500. IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GMC VEHICLES FROM 2003 TO 2009. WHY WASN'T THESE VEHICLES RECALLED FOR THIS. I WAS TOLD THAT GMC WAS OFFERING A DISCOUNTED PRICE FOR FAILED BRAKE LINES, BUT THE DEALER CHARGED ME FULL PRICE. $1,667.00. THE DISCOUNTED PRICE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE $500.00.
TAKATA RECALL. I THINK IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT SOMETHING THIS IMPORTANT HAS YET TO HAVE A FIX AVAILABLE. I AM NOT IN THE FINANCIAL POSITION TO STOP DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND PURCHASE ANOTHER WHILE STILL PAYING FOR ONE THAT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. OUR FAMILY USES ALL SEATING AVAILABLE IN THE VEHICLE AND THAT MAKES IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE ! I WOULD LIKE PERMISSION TO HAVE THE DEFECTIVE PART REMOVED IF THERE IS NO FIX AVAILABLE. OUR ENGINE STOPPED WORKING. HAD IT TOWED TO A SHOP THEN ONTO A DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE MOTOR.
MULTIPLE CRACKS ON THE DASH BOARD. THE EDGES OF THE PLASTIC ARE VERY SHARP AND COULD BE HAZARDOUS IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION. THE FIRST CRACK APPEARED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ON THE JUST ABOVE THE AIR BAG. IT IS NOW CRACKING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I HAVE HAD CHUNKS OF PLASTIC FALL OFF WHILE DRIVING AND THE FALL THROUGH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND STEERING COLUMN TO THE FLOOR.

THE SEAT BELT BECAME UNBUCKLED AND THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION AND CUT ON THE LEG, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. AS I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 35MPH APPROACHING A RED STOPLIGHT I PROCEEDED TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, WITH NO BRAKING OF THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND AVOID COLLISION. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION I FOUND THE HARD BRAKE LINE RUNNING TO THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL HAD RUPTURED CAUSING THE LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID. THE LINE RUPTURED IN AN AREA WHERE IT WAS SEVERELY CORRODED AND UPON INSPECTION, THE OTHER HARD BRAKE LINES OF THE SYSTEM LOOKED SEVERELY CORRODED ALSO. ALL WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED! THIS FAILURE COULD HAVE HAD A VERY BAD CONSEQUENCES AT A HIGHER SPEED, CLOSER PROXIMITY TO OTHER VEHICLES, OR WITH A LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVER! *TR

I DRIVE A COMPANY TRUCK DURING THE WEEK AND MAKE A HABIT OF DRIVING MY SIERRA ONCE A WEEK AS WELL. I WAS GOING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY TO THE MAIN ROAD WHEN THE PEDAL FELL TO THE FLOOR. NO BRAKES WHATSOEVER. I USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO COME TO A SAFE STOP. I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD TO REALIZE THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED AND HAD BLOWN A HOLE. THIS TRUCK IS NOT THAT OLD AND I DO NOT LIVE IN A NORTHERN STATE WHERE SALT CORROSION IS AN ISSUE. I BABY MY TRUCK AND KEEP IT UP. I LATER DID A SEARCH ON THE WEB AN FOUND OUT THAT THOUSANDS OF OTHERS ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE AS WELL. THIS IS RIDICULOUS, THIS IS A BAD MATERIAL CHOICE FOR BRAKE LINES. GMC NEEDS TO REALIZE THIS AND RECALL ALL OF US AND INSTALL COATED, OR BETTER YET, BRAIDED/POLY-COVERED LINES TO MAKE SURE THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN. WHAT IF I WERE TRAVELING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED AND HAD MY FAMILY IN THE CAR? I CAN SEE THEIR STAND ON THIS BEING A MAINTENANCE ISSUE, BUT I HAVE FRIENDS WITH EARLY 80'S AND 90'S MODEL TRUCKS THAT STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL BRAKE LINES IN THEM, NOT CORRODED OR RUSTED, AND STILL WORK GREAT. I HAVE OWNED MY 2007 GMC SIERRA 1500 FOR A FEW YEARS NOW AND AM CONCERNED ABOUT A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. I NOTICED RECENTLY THAT THE DASH BOARD IS CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES. I HAVE NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE VEHICLE IS MOSTLY GARAGE KEPT. WHAT CONCERNS ME IS THE CRACKING THAT IS AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG AND THE POSSIBILITY OF THE CRACKED PIECES BECOMING PROJECTILES IF THE AIRBAG WERE TO DEPLOY. ONCE I FOUND OUT THAT THESE CRACKS WERE PRESENT I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON TRAIT AMONG 2007-2013 GM TRUCKS. I HAVE SEEN PICTURES ONLINE ON THE GM TRUCK FORUM AND ON A DEDICATED FACEBOOK PAGE REGARDING MANY OTHER OWNERS WHO HAVE VEHICLES WITH THESE CRACKS. SOME OF THEM EVEN OWN VEHICLES IN THE 20,000 MILE RANGE. I WANTED TO BRING THIS TO YOUR ATTENTION, AND LET YOU KNOW THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WHICH COULD BECOME A SAFETY CONCERN FOR MANY GM TRUCK OWNERS. I WENT TO A LOCAL RECYCLE BUSINESS TO DROP OFF SOME CANS. UPON ENTERING THE BUILDING AT ABOUT 10 MPH, THIS GUY MOTION ME TO STOP AND WALKED IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK. I HIT THE BRAKES AND THE PEDDLE ALMOST WENT TO THE FLOOR, BUT DID STOP. JUST MISSING THE GUY THAT WALKED IN FRONT OF ME. REALIZING THAT A BRAKE LINE BROKE AND THAT THE DEALERSHIP WASN'T FAR AWAY, I DROVE REALLY SLOW TO GET THERE. I LEFT IT OVER THE WEEKEND. MONDAY THEY FOUND THAT THE BRAKE LINE THAT RUNS FROM FRONT TO REAR RUSTED AND BURST. $ 463. LATER I TOOK THE TRUCK HOME. AFTER CRAWLING UNDER THE TRUCK WHEN I GOT HOME, I NOTICED MORE BRAKE AND FUEL LINES WITH ALLOT OF RUST. I APPLIED SOME PAINT THAT'S SUPPOSED TO SLOW DOWN CORROSION. I'M GLAD I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY GRAND KIDS IN THE TRUCK. OR WORSE, THE FUEL LINES COULD BREAK. I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE BRAKE AND FUEL LINES. HOW MUCH WOULD IT HAVE COST FOR THE MANUFACTURER TO HAVE INSTALLED STAINLESS STEEL LINES WHEN THE TRUCK WAS BUILT? I'M SURE IT WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN MUCH. RUSTED REAR BRAKE LINE TUBING - LOSS OF FLUID - NO BRAKING POWER ON ANY WHEELS - EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS THE ONLY WAY OF STOPPING THE TRUCK. *TR
TRAVELING AT A LOW SPEED ON MY PROPERTY AND THE TRUCK ENTERED INTO A "REDUCED POWER" MODE. WHICH CUT OFF ALL POWER TO THE DRIVE TRAIN. YOU WERE LEFT WITH NO ABILITY TO GO FRONT OR BACK. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE TRUCK AND RESTARTING IT RETURNED TO NORMAL. LOCAL GMC DEALER SAYS HE GETS ONE A MONTH FOR THIS CONDITION. COSTS TO REPAIR EXCEEDS A $1000. LOST OF POWER COULD HAPPEN ANY TIME. 2007 GMC SIERRA CLASSIC WITH APPROXIMATELY 54,000 MILES WAS BEING DRIVEN INTO A GARAGE TO HAVE WHEELS BALANCED. AS THE TECHNICIAN APPLIED THE BRAKES ENTERING THE GARAGE, THE BRAKE LINES ON THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE RUPTURED AND THE BRAKE PEDDLE WENT TO THE FLOOR. BRAKE FLUID POURED OUT ONTO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKES BECAME COMPLETELY UNUSABLE. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED A FEW HOURS EARLIER IN THE DAY AS I WAS TRAVELING ON STEEP MOUNTAIN HIGHWAYS IN WEST VIRGINIA I HAVE NO DOUBT AN ACCIDENT AND PROBABLE FATALITY WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. ALL RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE HAD BEEN PERFORMED AT THE GM DEALER WHERE THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED AND NO WARNINGS FROM GM WERE GIVEN THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE SHOWING ANY SIGNS OF WEAR OR THAT A COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE LIKE THIS COULD HAPPEN. *TR

AS A RESULT, THE BRAKE CALIPERS ALONG WITH BRAKE LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
