TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. IN COLD WEATHER, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FREEZE UP AND FAIL TO WIPE THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE PART TO THE WINDSHIELD, BUT COULD NOT FIND A WINTER BLADE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO ASSIST AND STATED THAT THERE WERE MANY COMPLAINS ABOUT THE WINTER BLADES NOT BEING AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 6,200. 2008 GMC SIERRA CREW CAB. THE VEHICLE IS 18 MONTHS OLD, HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP 8 TIMES TO REPLACE OR REPAIR FRONT AND REAR BRAKES. PROBLEM STILL EXIST AND DEALERSHIP DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX PROBLEM. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED, MAJOR VIBRATION OCCURS AND VEHICLE IS HARD TO HOLD ON THE ROAD. PROBLEM STARED AT 25,474 MILES AND VEHICLE NOW HAS 53,000 MILES. *TR
WHILE SLOWLY BACKING MY 2008 GMC SIERRA PICK-UP TRUCK INTO THE GARAGE, THE MIRROR SURFACE CONTACTED THE SIDE OF THE GARAGE, CRACKING THE MIRROR. INSURANCE COMPANY RECOMMENDED HAVING AN AUTO GLASS SHOP REPLACE THE MIRROR, BUT A SMALL, FLIMSY PLASTIC CLIP THAT HAD BROKEN ON THE BACK OF THE MIRROR PREVENTED THEM FROM DOING SO. CUT HAND ON BROKEN MIRROR SURFACE AFTER REMOVED BY GLASS SHOP. DEALER ESTIMATED REPAIR AT $213.02. GM CORPORATE REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE DEFECT IN MIRROR BACKING CLIP AND REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE WHATSOEVER (DISTRICT SPECIALIST LEVEL REFERRAL FROM OWNER RELATIONS CENTER. I THOUGHT THAT FLEXIBLE MIRROR ASSEMBLIES WERE SUPPOSED TO SURVIVE MINOR COLLISIONS - A PREVIOUS GM VEHICLE (BLAZER) PERFORMED ADMIRABLY IN A 25 MPH COLLISION WITH A CHROME F250 TRUCK MIRROR W/NO DAMAGE TO THE BLAZER MIRROR OR ASSEMBLY. THE GMC "PROFESSIONAL GRADE" (TERM USED VERY LOOSELY HERE) TRUCK THAT I NOW OWN WON'T EVEN STAND UP TO A MINOR CLIP ON THE SIDE OF THE GARAGE AT SLOW SPEED. ENGINEERING DEFECTS ARE 1) MIRROR ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY IS OF POOR QUALITY AND/OR WORKMANSHIP AND 2) MIRROR ASSEMBLY MOVES UP SLIGHTLY WHEN PIVOTING, WHICH PROBABLY CONTRIBUTED TO THE BREAKAGE AT SUCH SLOW SPEED (WAS SLOWLY BACKING UP AN INCLINE INTO THE GARAGE). APPARENTLY, I WAS NOT CONVINCING ENOUGH TO GM THAT THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH FLIMSY MIRRORS - PERHAPS NHTSA AND BBB CAN BE MORE PERSUADING. ALL I ASKED FOR WAS THAT THEY COVER THE FLIMSY PLASTIC ACTUATOR AND PART OF THE $93 LABOR QUOTED FOR THE JOB BY THE DEALER. THE MIRROR ITSELF I HAVE NO QUALMS PAYING FOR. OLD PARTS ARE AVAILABLE ON THE TRUCK - I PLAN TO DRIVE MY NEARLY NEW TRUCK "AS IS" FOR A WHILE AS A SYMBOL OF GM'S POOR QUALITY OF WORKMANSHIP AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I ALSO PLAN ON TELLING AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE ABOUT HOW FLIMSY GM MAKES THEIR VEHICLES AND HOW NON-EXISTENT THEIR CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE DUE TO FAULTY BRAKES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT FOUND OUT THAT THE BRAKES WERE FAULTY FROM THE MECHANIC. THE DEALER WANTS THE CONTACT TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE HAD FAULTY BRAKES AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 850 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. UPON PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE PAINT JOB WAS ORANGE PEEL. THE DEALER STATED THAT ALL THE VEHICLES WERE PAINTED IN THAT MANNER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,200 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10. UPDATED 10/14/08. *LJ UPDATED 10/16/08. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE VEHICLE IS USED TO HAUL A TRAVEL TRAILER THAT WEIGHS 6,500 POUNDS. THE VEHICLE IS DESIGNED TO HAUL UP TO 8,500 POUNDS. THE MANUFACTURER PLACED SIZE 245/70/R17P PASSENGER TIRES ON THE VEHICLE, WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE AND COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE A CRASH. THE VEHICLE REQUIRES MINOR TRUCK TIRES, SIZE LT245/70/R17. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE TIRES CURRENTLY ON THE VEHICLE ARE THE CORRECT SIZE; THEREFORE, THEY WILL NOT BE REPLACED BY THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 650 AND CURRENT MILEAGE IS 3,688. UPDATED 11/12/08 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. UPDATED 11/18/08. *JB
DOOR LOCKS QUIT LOCKING WITH THE AUTO LOCKER AND REMOTE ON THE DRIVER DOOR 1ST 1TRIP. TOOK THREE MONTH TO GET PARTS TRIP TO FIX. AND THEN THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR QUIT ANOTHER TRIP TO GET LOOKED AT. NOW WAITING TO GET THE REAR DOOR PARTS AND SOMEONE TOLD ME IT COULD DO IT TO ALL 4 DOORS........MY TRUCK HAS SEEN MORE TIME AT THE SHOP THEN IN MY DRIVEWAY. *TR
STANDARD EQUIPMENT ON A NEW 2008 SIERRA 1500 CREW CAB WAS NOT ON THE VEHICLE. THE ITEM BEING NOTED AS THE DIC OR DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER IS THE DASHBOARD COMPUTER THAT SHOW MPG, TIRE AIR PRESSURE AND OTHER BASIC INFORMATION VITAL TO EVERYDAY DRIVING, FUEL MANAGEMENT AND SAFETY. AGAIN, THIS IS LISTED AS STANDARD EQUIPMENT. AND IT WAS DISCOVERED WITHIN THE FIRST 100 MILES OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE THAT THE ITEM WAS NOT ON THIS/OUR PARTICULAR VEHICLE. THE DELETION OF THIS EQUIPMENT ALSO SEVERELY DECREASES THE VALUE (RESALE OR NOT) OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I HAVE PURCHASED A NEW 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500 PICKUP ON MARCH 1 2008 AND CURRENTLY HAS 10, 400 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I HAVE POUNCING AND VIBRATING BRAKES AND HAD THEM CHECKED AT A GM DEALER IN MY TOWN, THE BRAKE ROTOR HAVE MEASUREMENTS OF 1.17 AND 1.16 LEFT, IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT ROTORS BE REPLACED AT A MEASUREMENT OF 1.1. VEHICLE IIS NOT SAFE TO OPERATE WITH ROTORS IN THIS CONDITION AND HAVE TO BE MANUFACTURES DEFECT TO BE IN THIS CONDITION ALREADY. THE VEHICLE AS AT A REGISTERED GM DEALERSHIP IN LIGONIER PA BUT THIS DEALER IS A BUICK AND PONTIAC DEALER AND DOES NOT SELL GMC TRUCKS. GMC WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY AT THIS LOCATION AND THIS RESULTS IN MY OPERATING A VEHICLE THAT IS NOT SAFE. THIS IS A COMBINATION OF GM ARROGANCE IN POLICY AND THE INSTALLMENT OF INFERIOR BRAKE ROTORS TO BEGIN WITH. *TR
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V383000 (AIR BAGS) WAS RECEIVED IN JUNE OF 2008. AFTER CONTACTING THE LOCAL DEALER (WHITESIDE CHEVROLET, 50714 NATIONAL RD. E., ST. CLAIRSVILLE, OH) AND THE MANUFACTURER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE DEFECT WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
RODENT PROBLEM CAUSING A MAJOR GAS LEAK DURING OPERATION OF VEHICLE, 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. THIS IS THE EXPLANATION FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER AT FOX CHEVY IN LAUREL MD. THERE SOLUTION TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IS TO REPLACE PLASTIC FITTING THAT WAS SUPPOSEDLY EATEN BY A RODENT. WHICH LEADS TO MY CONCERN THAT IF THIS COULD HAPPEN TO ME ONCE IT SURELY COULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND WITH DISASTROUS RESULTS. I'VE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE AND I HAVE STARTED A CASE, FILE #71-623647784. I WANT THE PUBLIC TO BE AWARE OF THIS BECAUSE OF ITS HAZARDOUS NATURE. I WAITING TO HEAR FROM GMC"S CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST TO SEE IF THERE IS A RESOLUTION, SUCH AS SHIELDING THE GAS FITTING FROM POSSIBLE RODENT ACCESSIBILITY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING A BRAND NEW 2008 GMC SIERRA, 4 DOOR, 4 WHEEL DRIVE WITH ONLY 872 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, GOING APPROXIMATELY 30 TO 40 MPH, THE STEERING KNUCKLE HOLDING THE TIE ROD BROKE ON DRIVERS FRONT SIDE. THE DRIVER IMPACTED A PULL CAMPER TRAILER EXPLODING THE TIRE UPON IMPACT WITH THE CAMPER. THE WHEEL RIM WAS TURNED SIDE WAYS AS IT IMPACTED THE TIRES OF THE CAMPER FLATTENING 2 TIRES CURLING THE CAMPER WHEEL RIMS AND CAUSING DAMAGE ALONG THE SIDE OF THE CAMPER. THEN IMPACTED A FORD CAR DOWN THE DRIVERS SIDE THAT WAS FOLLOWING THE CAMPER. THE IMPACT CAUSED THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY IN THE TRUCK. THE TIRE ON THE TRUCK WAS FOUND OVER 200 FEET FROM THE IMPACT. THE MARKINGS ON THE TIRE WERE CONSISTENT WITH THE STEERING KNUCKLE BREAKAGE. INSPECTION BY BOTH THE TOW TRUCK OWNER AND THE COLLISION REPAIR SHOP NOTICED THAT THE PART LOOKED DEFECTIVE AND POINTED IT OUT TO THE OWNER OF THE TRUCK. THE TOW TRUCK OPERATOR OWNS AN IDENTICAL TRUCK AND WAS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF HIS OWN VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. IF FAILURE WOULD HAVE OCCURRED A FEW HOURS LATER ON INTERSTATE 95 AT 70 MPH (A PLANNED TRIP) THE OUTCOME COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH DIFFERENT. *TR
TAKATA RECALL REMEDY HAS STILL NOT BEEN COMPLETED. THE MANUFACTURER'S WEB SITE STATES, "RECALL INCOMPLETE - REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE." THIS RECALL HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND STILL THERE IS NO REMEDY AND NO BODY CAN PROVIDE A TIME WHEN THERE WILL BE A REMEDY. AS A RESULT, THE RISKS ESCALATE. PLEASE HAVE THE MANUFACTURE REPAIR THE PROBLEM ASAP.
PREVIOUS COMPLAINT # 11041047 DATED 10/30/2017 STILL NOT RESOLVED. I HAVE RECEIVED NO COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE OUTSTANDING RECALL OF MY VEHICLES AIRBAGS. I WOULD LIKE MY AIRBAGS REPLACED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
TAKATA RECALL-I HAVE CALLED TO HAVE MY RECALL TAKEN CARE OF SEVERAL TIMES ONLY TO BE TOLD THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE YET. CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME IF AND WHEN THIS PART WILL BE AVAILABLE? THIS VEHICLE IS DROVE EVERYDAY WITH MY FAMILY IN IT!!
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. AFTER THE CONTACT PARKED AND EXITED THE VEHICLE, IT BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARD IN HIS GARAGE. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE GARAGE DOOR AND THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURES. THE CONTACT CALLED GMC AND A REPRESENTATIVE CAME OUT TO TAKE PICTURES AND INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,202.
2008 GMC SIERRA. CONSUMER EXPRESSES DISCONTENT REGARDING RECALL *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE FIX WAS TOTALLY UNSATISFACTORY. THE PART SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH A PROPERLY FUNCTIONIONG SYSTEM AND NOT DISABLING AND REMOVING IT. RECCALL 08V441000. *JB
2008 GMC SIERRA. CONSUMER WRITES REGARDING HEATED WASHER FLUID SYSTEM *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL REGARDING THE HEATED WASHER FLUID SYSTEM. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DISABLING OF THE SYSTEM WAS SIMPLY NOT ACCEPTABLE. THE CONSUMER LIVES IN AN AREA WHERE THERE ARE BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES AND HE ALSO TRAVELS OVER MOUNTAINS PASSES WHERE ICING OF THE WINDSHIELD IS A COMMON PROBLEM. *JB
