MY 2008 GMC SIERRA DENALI'S AUTOMATIC LOCKS HAVE FAILED ON THREE OF THE FOUR DOORS. I DIDN'T REALIZE THEY WERE NOT ENGAGING UNTIL I TOOK TWO CHILDREN TO DINNER AND HAD ONE OF THEM OPEN THE DOOR WITHOUT UNLOCKING THE DOOR. I HAD THE CHILD SAFETY LOCKS ENGAGED AND THOUGHT I WOULD BE SAFE, BUT IT TURNS OUT THE LOCKS NEVER ENGAGED (THUS, MAKING THE CHILD LOCKS IRRELEVANT). THIS IS AN ISSUE BEYOND INCONVENIENCE. *TR
ON SEPT. 28TH ABOUT 1PM I WAS TRAVELING ON A DIRT ROAD WHEN I APPROACHED SOME POT HOLES. THE DAY WAS SUNNY AND DRY AND I WENT TO APPLY MY BRAKE BUT AS I HIT THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN I HIT THE FIRST COUPLE AND MY SIDE IMPACT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE COMPUTER ADVISED IT WAS IN A ROLL AND DEPLOYED THE SIDE IMPACT AIR BAGS AND ALSO THEY ADVISED THE COMPUTER SENSED THERE WAS SOMEONE IN THE PASSANGERS SEAT WHEN THERE WASN'T SO MAYBE THE SEAT SENSORS A BIT SENSITIVE. IT WAS EVIDENT I WASN'T IN A ROLL AND THEY REFERRED ME TO GM CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO TOOK MY INFOMRATION AND SENT A 3RD PARTY I BELIEVE RAYTHEON TO DO AN INSPECTION. I CALLED GM YESTERDAY AND THEY ADVISED THEY RECEIVED THE RESULTS AND PER THEIR ENGINEERS AND THE DATA THEY PULLED THEY DETERMINED THAT THE POT HOLES THAT I HAD HIT (WHICH WERE NOT LARGE) WERE LARGE ENOUGH TO TELL THE COMPUTER THAT I HAD LOST STABILITY AND TO DEPLOY THE AIR BAGS. WITH THAT THEY DETERMINED THAT THE SYSTEMS WERE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AND THAT THEY WERE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY ISSUES OR COSTS. I HAD SPOKEN WITH JOE THE SUPERVISOR AND I HAD ASKED HIM THAT WHEN I GET THIS FIXED AM I TO BE LEARY OF POT HOLES IN THE FUTURE THAT IT MIGHT SET THEM OFF AGAIN AND HE DIRECTLY ANSWERED THAT THAT IS A POSSIBILITY THAT IF THE COMPUTER SENSES THAT THE TRUCK HAS LOST STABILITY THAT THEY WILL DEPLOY AGAIN. AGAIN HE ADVISED EVERYTHING WAS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. AT THIS POINT I HAVE TO GET MY TRUCK FIXED BUT I'M DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT AS IF THIS HAD HAPPENED AT FREEWAY SPEEDS I COULD HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I DID SEE ANOTHER SAFETY REVIEW THAT I BELIEVE HAD A NHTSA REVIEW # 10205258 WHICH APPEARS JUST LIKE MY INCIDENT BUT THAT ONE FOR A 2007 GMC YUKON. GM ADVISED THAT THE REPAIRS WOULD COST $2700 AND IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN I WOULD AGAIN BE LIABLE FOR THE COST EVEN THOUGH IN MY MIND IT'S A DESIGN OR ENG. FLAW. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE EXITING A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY AT LOW SPEEDS, THE SIDE WINDOW AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER AND REAR PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES FROM THE AIR BAG. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 33,800.
THE TIRES SEAL AT THE WHEELS LEAK AIR CONTINUOUSLY. CAUSING THEM TO BE REFILLED. IF THEY GO DOWN POSSIBLE ACCIDENTS CAN RESULT. GM WILL DO NOTHING. THE WHEELS ARE CORRODING AND CAUSING THE PROBLEM. RIGHT WHERE THE TIRE MEETS THE WHEEL. *KB
I NOTICED SOME CORROSION ON THE FRAME AND UNDERCARRIAGE WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, BUT PURCHASED A WARRANTY THINKING I'D BE COVERED IF IT GOT WORSE. THE CORROSION IS NOT COVERED AND THE CORROSION IS GETTING MUCH WORSE VERY QUICKLY. MY FRAME WILL RUST THROUGH AT SOME POINT. *TR
TOOK 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500 4X4 TO TIRE STORE TO ROTATE TIRES. THEY INDICATED THAT THE LOWER FRONT BALL JOINTS WERE LOOSE. THIS TRUCK HAS 77,000 MILES SO I WAS SKEPTICAL. TOOK TRUCK TO GMC DEALER FOR SERVICE & REQUESTED THAT THEY CHECK THE LOWER FRONT BALL JOINTS. THEY INDICATED THAT THE BALL JOINTS HAD ONE QUARTER OF AN INCH OF VERTICAL PLAY AND WERE INDEED LOOSE & NEEDED REPLACEMENT. I HAVE EARLIER GMC TRUCKS WITH OVER 200,000 MILES AND HAVE NOT HAD WORN LOWER BALL JOINTS. I BELIEVE THAT THE LOOSENESS IS DUE TO THE BALL JOINT PULLING APART. THE WEAR WAS NOT SIDE TO SIDE AS WOULD BE EXPECTED. I WANT TO REPAIR THIS DEFECT SO AS TO AVOID A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION. I WANT TO USE OEM PARTS BUT I AM CONCERNED THAT THESE BALL JOINTS ARE DEFECTIVE. THE GMC DEALER ADVISES THAT EVEN THOUGH THE TRUCK HAS A 100,000 MILE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY, THE BALL JOINTS ARE NOT COVERED. *TR
2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THUMP UNDER THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL *TGW THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL HAD A CRACK IN IT AND THE REAR MIDDLE LEAF SPRING WAS BROKEN. *JB
DASH IS CRACKED IN FIVE PLACES. THE EDGE ON THE CRACKS ARE SO SHARP THAT YOU COULD CUT YOUR HAND IF IT'S MOVED ACROSS IT. ALSO HAVE TESTS BEEN DONE TO MAKE SURE THE CRACK IF AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED DOES NOT BECOME PROJECTILES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING UP AN INCLINE AT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO SPEEDS EXCEEDING 45MPH. EXCESSIVE PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 8,600.
PASSENGER AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK QUIT WORKING FIRST. AFTER 6 MONTHS OR SO THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LOCK QUIT WORKING ALSO. THEN WITHIN MONTHS AFTER THE DRIVERS DOOR LOCK FAILING BOTH REAR DOOR LOCKS QUIT WORKING WITHIN A MONTH OF EACH OTHER. NOW NONE OF THE DOORS LOCK AUTOMATICALLY OR WHEN THE LOCK BUTTON IS PUSHED. *TR
GMC DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS FAIL AT A VERY HIGH RATE. DOORS WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK/UNLOCK WHEN YOU PUT THE VEHICLE PARK/DRIVE. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK WOULD NOT LOCK EVEN WHEN ATTEMPTING TO LOCK THE VEHICLE MAUNALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR MANUFACTURER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
AT ABOUT 37K MILES THE FRONT DOORS OF MY 2008 SIERRA WILL NOT UNLOCK HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK DOORS AND FOB WILL NOT LOCK EVEN UNLOCK DOORS RESULTING IN POSSIBLE THEFT. BACK DOORS WORK PROPERLY. ALSO FOG LIGHTS DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. A/C IS MAKING A LOUD NOISE. *TR
POWER DOOR LOCK FAILURE. CANNOT LOCK OR UNLOCK 3 OUT OF THE TRUCKS 4 DOORS WITH REMOTE OR THE ON BOARD LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON. THE DRIVER DOOR FAILED 3 WEEK AGO, THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR FAILED LAST WEEK AND THE PASSENGER SIDE READ DOOR FAILED YESTERDAY. THIS IS BOTH A SAFETY AND SECURITY ISSUE. THE BACK DOOR LOCKS CAN ONLY BE ACCESSED FROM INSIDE THE TRUCK IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY WITH NO KEY ACCESS. FROM A SECURITY STAND POINT THE FAILURE IS NOT KNOWN UNTIL THE DOOR EITHER DOES NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK AND YOU NOTICE THE FAILURE. THIS BECOMES AN ISSUE AS YOU MAY THINK THAT THE VEHICLES DOORS ARE LOCKED BUT THEY ARE NOT. ALSO THE INABILITY TO LOCK THE DOOR IN THE EVENT SOMEONE IS TRYING TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE I.E. CARJACKING. I HAVE SCHEDULED A REPAIR WITH THE DEALER WHO ADMITTED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. *TR
2 OF THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS FAILED. *TR
ALL OF MY POWER DOOR LOCKS ARE NOT WORKING. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN YOU HAVE CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT AND THEY TRY TO OPEN THE DOOR WHILE IN TRANSIT. I HAVE HAD THE LOCKS REPAIRED ONCE ALREADY WHILE THE TRUCK WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND NOW THEY ARE FAULTY AGAIN. THIS IS NOT WHAT I PAID FOR WHEN I CHOSE TO TRUST IN GMC. I THINK A LEMON LAW LAWSUIT IS IN ORDER IF THEY DON'T RESOLVE THIS ISSUE FREE OF CHARGE. GMC IS RISKING THE LIVES OF NOT ONLY MY CHILDREN BUT EVERY OTHER FAMILY THAT TRUSTED IN GMC. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA DENALI. THE CONTACT STATE THAT DURING RAINY WEATHER, WATER WOULD LEAK INTO THE VEHICLE FROM THE SUNROOF RESULTING IN SEVERE WATER DAMAGE TO THE HEADLINER. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
ENGINE CUTS OFF GOING DOWN THE ROAD IN MY 2008 GMC SIERRA. SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT IS HAD BY MANY OTHERS SINCE 2001...VERY DANGEROUS AND DUE TO A STICKY THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR. *TR
TWO LARGE CRACKS ON DASHBOARD. ONE IS ABOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HUMP AND IT'S APPROXIMATELY 5" IN LENGTH. THE OTHER IS JUST ABOVE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AND THAT ONE IS APPROXIMATELY 3" IN LENGTH. *TR
BRAKE ROTORS WARPED AT 15K MILES, HAD THEM TURNED UNDER WARRANTY AT DEALER VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM. AT 30K MILES ROTORS WARPED AGAIN, THIS TIME 1 BRAKE PAD WAS WORN DOWN TO 2MM THICK, THE REST APPEAR ALMOST NEW IN THICKNESS. DEALER TURNED ROTORS AGAIN AND REPLACED PADS FOR $200. REQUESTED AND WAS DENIED THAT THE BRAKE WORK BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BY DEALER AND GM CS. I TOOK OLD BRAKE HARDWARE HOME WITH ME AND STILL HAVE IT. I CONTEND THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE DESIGN OR MATERIALS IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM OF THIS TRUCK CAUSING PREMATURE WEAR AND FAILURE OF "NON WARRANTY" BRAKE ITEMS SUCH AS THE PADS AND ROTORS. I CONTEND THAT THERE HAS BEEN A HANGING BRAKE PAD CAUSING THE ROTORS TO OVERHEAT AND WARP SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW AND ANY WORK PERFORMED AT THE TIME OF THE 15K MILE ROTOR TURNING DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IF BRAKE WORK NEEDS TO BE PERFORMED ON THIS TRUCK EVERY 15K MILES THERE IS A REASON THAT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. ONE TIME FREAK FAILURE I CAN SEE, TWO TIMES EVENLY SPACED AT 15K MILE INTERVALS AND I THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLES BRAKES DESIGN AND/OR MATERIALS. VEHICLE IS DAILY DRIVER, 15 MILES A DAY TO AND FROM WORK. GARAGED DURING THE WINTER, TAKEN OFF ROAD (FROZEN CORNFIELDS, DIRT FIELD ROADS) FOR A WEEK IN LATE FALL. USED TO TOW A FISHING BOAT A FEW TIMES A YEAR. OWNER IS A FORMER ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND IS NOT AN AGGRESSIVE USER OF THE BRAKES. MEANING I BRAKE FIRMLY AND EVENLY WHEN BRAKING IS NEEDED, LIFTING MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL ONCE STOPPED AND APPLY ONLY ENOUGH PRESSURE TO HOLD VEHICLE STILL. *TR
MY 2008 GMC SIERRA DENALI HAS WATER CONDENSATION IN BOTH OF THE TAIL LIGHTS. ITS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE ON ANY OF MY GMC TRUCKS AND THIS DENALI WASN'T CHEAP.
AT 35K THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT DOOR ACTUATOR FAILED AND WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. AT 40K THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR ACTUATOR FAILED. I WAS TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE DUE TO DEFECTIVE PARTS USED BY GMC. WITH NO ABILITY TO OPEN OR CLOSE THE PASSENGER DOOR FROM THE DRIVERS CONTROL, A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE EXISTS. E.G. UNABLE TO PREVENT AN INTRUDER FROM ENTERING THE CAR AT A STOP LIGHT, OR ALLOW A SCARED CHILD TO EXIT AFTER AN ACCIDENT. *TR
EXTERNAL LEFT REAR DOOR HANDLE PULLED OFF WHEN SIMPLY OPENING THE DOOR 11/15/2010. EXTERNAL LEFT FRONT DOOR HANDLE PULLED OFF WHEN SIMPLY OPENING THE DOOR 12/15/2012. TWO DOOR HANDLES POP OFF ON A NEW VEHICLE NOT A DEFECT? SAME FLIMSY PLASTIC FASTENER ATTACHMENT BROKEN IN BOTH CASES. GOOGLE SEARCH INDICATES THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT EXPERIENCED BY NUMEROUS OWNERS THAT GMC AND CHEVROLET WILL NOT ADMIT TO. THE GMC DEALER EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED IT'S A DEFECT! REPAIR COST - $300/HANDLE! *TR
2008 GMC SIERRA 1500 TRUCK ELECTRIC LOCK ACTUATORS ARE DEFECTIVE - THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON LINE - MINE ARE NO LONGER WORKING AND 2 OF THE 4 HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPLACED. *TR
GMC HAS THE DOOR HANDLES MADE IN MEXICO OUT OF PLASTIC. WHEN YOU GO TO OPEN THE DOOR THE HANDLE BREAKS OFF IN YOUR HAND. GMC KNOWS THIS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW BUT REFUSES TO STAND BEHIND THE PROBLEM. JUST GOOGLE "GM DOOR HANDLES BREAK" AND HUNDREDS OF POSTINGS COME UP! MY CHILD WENT TO GET INTO THE TRUCK THE OTHER DAY AND THE HANDLE BROKE OFF IN HIS HAND CAUSING HIM TO FALL BACKWARDS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND THE DOORS LOCKED. UPON TRYING TO ENTER THE VEHICLE USING A SEPARATE REMOTE KEY THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT UNLOCK. HE HAD TO ENTER THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR BY MANUALLY UNLOCKING THE DOOR. ONCE HE ENTERED THE VEHICLE HE SMELLED A SLIGHT MELTING ODOR. HE COMPARED THE ODOR TO THE SMELL OF BURNING WIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EXAMINED BY THE DEALER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT HE HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND PAY TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 47,000.
RANDOM DOOR LOCK FAILURE LEADING TO PERMANENT FAILURE OVER SEVERAL MONTHS. OWNER IS UNAWARE OF PROBLEM UNTIL SEVERAL WEEKS OR MONTHS AS PROBLEM PROGRESSES TO COMPLETE FAILURE. DOOR LOCKS WILL SOMETIMES LOCK AND SOMETIMES UNLOCK, BUT TOTALLY UNAWARE TO THE OWNER UNTIL THE PROBLEM FINISHES WITH COMPLETE FAILURE. OFTEN TIMES VEHICLE IS LEFT UNLOCKED WHEN OWNER ASSUMES IT IS. THE PROBLEM CREATES OPPORTUNITY FOR CRIME AS WELL AS MANY OTHER SAFETY CONCERNS. THE OTHER MAJOR CONCERN IS THE INTEGRITY OF THE DOOR LOCKING SYSTEM DURING A CRASH ..... WHEN YOU KNOW YOUR DOORS MAY NOT BE LOCKED. I HAVE GRAVE CONCERNS FOR CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEATS OF VEHICLES THAT SHOULD BE LOCKED BUT AREN'T. BECAUSE OF FLAWS IN COMPONENT INTEGRITY. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO 3 (INCLUDING MYSELF) OUT OF 5 TRUCKS OWNED BY FRIENDS OR FAMILY MEMBERS. THE INTERNET IS FLOODED WITH THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WE HAVE SERIOUS CONCERNS REGARDING THIS MATTER. THANKS FOR YOUR CO-OPERATION. *TR
2008 GMC SIERRA 1500 SLE HAS HAD TO HAVE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED AT 20,000 MILES. REPLACED ROTORS AND PADS WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS. AT 30,000 MILES PADS AND ROTORS ARE WORN DOWN TO METAL AGAIN. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT CALIPERS ARE WORKING BUT REAR BRAKES NEED TO BE REPLACED ALSO. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD BRAKE ISSUES SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT THE TRUCK BRAND NEW WITH BRAKES OVERHEATING. *TR
DASH BOARD CRASH ALL OVER AND BY THE AIR BAG
BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW IN 2008 .AFTER A YEAR TO 1 1/2 DEVELOPED CRACK IN DASH IN CORNER BY AIRBAG. HAD DASH REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. DASH CRACKED AGAIN WITHIN 1 1/2 WAS OUT OF WARRANTY THEN AND THEY WANTED ME TO PAY A PERCENTAGE. I REFUSED TO PAY FOR THERE DEFECT
2008 GMC SIERRA DENALI HAS 2 CRACKS ON THE DASHBOARD, ONE BY THE AIRBAG AND THE SECOND OVER THE DRIVERS SIDE DASHBOARD. THIS IS DEFINITELY A MANUFACTURES DEFECT THAT GMC IS TOTALLY IGNORING. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO BE MAIMED OR KILLED BEFORE THEY TAKE REASONABLE ACCOUNTABILITY INSTEAD OF JUST DENYING EVERYONE UNTIL WE GO AWAY? WE NEED GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION TO HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE. THE DASH BOARD RATTLES AND SHAKES OVER EVERY LITTLE BUMP!
WENT TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE, ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK TO FLOOR. WAS DOING 90-100 MPH BEFORE I COULD GET THE KEY TURNED OFF, WHICH CAUSED THE PEDAL TO POP BACK UP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A GMC 2008 SIERRA 1500. THE VEHICLE HAD MICHELIN AMERITRAC TIRES, TIRE SIZE P245-70-R17. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH AND THE ROAD PERFORMANCE WAS ROUGH WITH A NOISE COMING FROM THE TIRES. THE SNOW AND MUD TIRES WERE PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED AT THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,900. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
09/2009 ' BEGAN TO HEAR FRONT BRAKES INTERMITTENTLY SQUEAKING WHEN I APPLIED BRAKES. 10/2009 - TOOK VEHICLE TO MIDAS FOR INSPECTION. TECHNICIAN DISCOVERED BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKES WERE WORN DOWN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, TRUCK HAD APPROXIMATELY 19,000 MILES PAID FOR BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKES TO BE REPLACED. 2/2010 ' WENT TO LOCAL MOUNTAINS (BIG BEAR) FOR THE DAY WITH MY FAMILY. WHILE COMING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN I NOTICED MY BRAKE PEDAL STARTING TO GET SOFT. PULLED OVER ONTO A TURN OUR POINT AND NOTICED MY FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL WAS SMOKING. PLEASE MY HANDS CLOSE TO THE WHEEL AND FELT HEAT COMING FROM THE BRAKES, DID THE SAME ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WITH THE SAME RESULTS. WAITED 30-40 MINUTES FOR THEM TO COOL DOWN. TESTED BRAKING IN THE TURN OUR AND PROCEEDED HOME. 2/2010 (THE NEXT DAY) ' TOOK TRUCK BACK TO MIDAS (WITH APPROXIMATELY 24,000 MILES) FOR THEM TO INSPECT. THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED THE DISK WERE 'BLUE' AND RECOMMEND THEY BE REPLACED. HE ALSO SHOWED ME THE RUBBER BOOTS THAT WERE MELTED ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DUE TO THE EXTREME HEAT THAT WAS GENERATED. I REQUESTED THAT MIDAS CHANGE THE BRAKES (WHICH THEY DID) AND PURCHASED NEW ROTORS AS THE TECHNICIAN HAD ADVISED AND THEY ALSO EXCHANGED THE BRAKE FLUID. I HAD PLANNED ON TAKING THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE DRIVER'S SIDE CALIPER REPLACED. 2/2010 (THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND) I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO FOOTHILL RANCH CHEVROLET AND EXPLAINED THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO MY VISIT. I EXPLAINED TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE CALIPER BOOTS WERE BURNT AND I WANTED THEM REPLACED. HE NOTICED MY CONCERNS AND TOOK MY VEHICLE. 2/2010 ' (THE FOLLOWING WEDNESDAY) RECEIVED CALL TRUCK WAS READY AND PICKED UP AND THAT MY CALIPER HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED AS IT WAS FOUND TO BE IN ACCEPTABLE WORKING ORDER EVEN WITH BURNT BOOTS. 3/2010 ' CALLED 800-222-1020 (GM CUSTOMER LINE) INCIDENT # 71-814348680 TO LODGE A COMPLAINT AND ASK FOR MY DRIVERS SIDE CALIPER TO BE REPLACED. *DT
TAKATA RECALL: GMC HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE WAY TO LONG AND STILL TO THIS DATE CANNOT GIVE ME A DATE OR TIME FRAME WHEN THEY CAN FIX MY ISSUE. THIS SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN CORRECTED. THE SECOND ISSUE IS THE EPIDEMIC DASH CRACKING THAT IS OBVIOUSLY AN ENGINEERING ISSUE AND GMC SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO CORRECT THIS DEFECT IN THEIR DASHES. MY DASH CRACKS ARE ALMOST IDENTICAL TO THOUSANDS OF OTHER GMC OWNERS AND WHEN THERE IS AN OBVIOUS FLAW, THEY SHOULD CORRECT IT. DOWN AT THE BOTTOM WHERE IS SAY WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN? I KNOW IF HAPPENED IT 2010, BUT NOT A SPECIFIC DAY OR MONTH.
WHY CAN WE NOT GET A NEW AIRBAG THAT IS SAFE???? THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS. IN THE MEANTIME, WE ARE AT RISK OF DEATH CAUSED BY OUR AIRBAG. THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THEM.....NO QUESTIONS ASKED !
Dashboard is completely broken. It started by the airbag area in 2010 and now completely broken in all areas.
HEADLIGHTS DIM WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, WHEN THE TRUCK SHIFTS FROM 1ST TO SECOND GEAR AND WHEN THE BLINKERS ARE USED AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS. CONTACTED GM AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS NORMAL IN ALL VEHICLES. ALSO HAVE HAD 3 DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS AND 1 WINDOW MOTOR REPLACED. HAD TO HAVE THE FRONT STEERING/RACK AND PINION REPLACED. CURRENTLY HAVING PROBLEM WITH FRONT DOOR NOT OPENING. *TR
TRUCK SHAKES BETWEEN 45 AND 60. DOES IT ALL THE TIME. TOOK TO GMC DEALER AND THEY CHECK IT OUT AND SAID IT WAS THE WAY THE TRUCK WAS GET USED TO IT. CALLED DETROIT AND GOT THE SAME THING. IT'S NOT RIGHT. IT ALL STARTED WITH AROUND 14,000 MILES .THE TRUCK DIDN'T DO IT AT ALL UNTIL THEN. THE SERVICE STATION THAT I USE TO SERVICE IT FOUND THE TIRES TO BE OUT OF ROUND AND THE SIDEWALLS WERE COMING UNDONE. PUT A NEW SET OF TIRES ON AND IT HELPED A LITTLE BIT BUT NOT A GREAT DEAL. THEY ALSO TOLD ME TO PUT WEIGHT IN THE BOX TO HELP. I TRIED AND IT DIDN'T HELP. ALL I WANT IS THE TRUCK MADE RIGHT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS THE CONTACT BECAME UNCONSCIOUS AND CRASHED INTO A UTILITY POLE. THE POLICE AND AMBULANCE ARRIVED AND THE DRIVER WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE AIR BAG SYSTEM FAILED TO DEPLOY WITH THE MASSIVE LEVEL OF IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE CONTACT HAS CONCERNS OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. APPROX 26,000 MILES. THE CHROME HANDLES ON THE DOORS, 2 HAVE COME LOOSE. I CALLED THE CHEVY/GMC DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE A COST OF APPROX. $125 PER DOOR TO FIX.
DASHBOARD CRACKED IN THE MIDDLE. PLENTY OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED
ALL FOUR POWER DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE FAILED. FIRST THREE FAILED BEFORE REACHING 30000 MILES. DEALER ADVISED THEY WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I ARGUED WITH THEM, BY THE TIME MY TRUCK HAD 50000 MILES ALL FOUR HAD FAILED AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 36000 MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND GM REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE MILLIONS OF VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE. GM WANTS $300 PER DOOR TO REPAIR. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY THEM $1200 FOR SOMETHING I PAID FOR WITH THE PRICE OF THE TRUCK.
MY VEHICLE HAS A THUMP WHILE APPLYING AND RELEASING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE MANUFACTURER HAS TRIED TO REPAIR THE DRIVE LINE/ SHAFT SEVERAL TIMES. NOW THE MANUFACTURER IS SAYING THAT THERE IS NO REPAIR PARTS FOR THE PROBLEM THAT I'M EXPERIENCING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IF THE AIR BAGS HAD DEPLOYED, THE DRIVER WOULD NOT HAVE SUSTAINED ANY INJURIES. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 59,000.
2008 GMC SIERRA DENALI HAS INTERMITTENT FUEL GAUGE OPERATION. AFTER FILLING UP THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING THE FUEL GAUGE NEEDLE WILL DROP FROM FULL TANK INDICATION TO EMPTY TANK INDICATION EVEN THOUGHT THE TANK IS FUEL OF FUEL. THE DEALER HAS REMOVED THE TANK AND REPLACED THE FUEL SENDING UNIT, BUT HAS NOT RESULTED IN A FIX JUST AN EDUCATED GUESS. ALSO IN THE MORNINGS THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCES A VERY LOUD KNOCKING NOISE WHICH WHEN CONFRONTED AT THE DEALER WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A NORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN SOLD UNTIL THE RECALL WAS REPAIRED BECAUSE THE WIRE HARNESS MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE, WHICH CAUSED THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A CLAIM INVESTIGATOR WOULD INSPECT THE VEHICLE THE FOLLOWING WEEK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
