TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2008 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED DUE TO THE LOCK MALFUNCTIONING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO DEALER FRO INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DRIVING AND WARNING CAME ON AND IT SAID "ENGINE HOT A/C TURNED OFF" HAD THIS VEHICLE ONLY ONE WEEK WHEN THIS HAPPENED, TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER THE SAID WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY, I TOLD THEM TO KEEP THE TRUCK. THEY PUT ON A NEW THERMOSTAT, TWO WEEKS LATER SAME THING. TOOK TRUCK TO MY MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT. GOOD FOR ABOUT TWO MONTHS, WARNING KEEPS COMING ON. LOOKED ON LINE MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN, A MECHANIC AT A CHEVROLET GARAGE TOLD ME IT IS PROBABLY IN THE CLUSTER PANEL/ COMPUTER?? BIG MONEY. WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS OTHER'S HAVE BEEN HAVING, I THINK IT IS DANGEROUS TRUCK CATCH ON FIRE GOING DOWN THE ROAD. WOULD LIKE AN ANSWER TO THIS PROBLEM. THANK YOU MARY ANN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF OVERHEATING AND THE CONTACT ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO COOL DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO FOR DIAGNOSIS OF REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,664.
CRACKED DASHBOARD IN AREA AROUND PASSENGER AIRBAG. COULD CAUSE DEBRIS WHEN OR IF AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED. ALSO CRACKED ABOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ON DRIVER SIDE.
ON OCTOBER 15, 2013, APPROX 7:45 AM, SINGLE OCCUPANT, WAS ENTERING THE EXIT RAMP FROM FREEWAY WHEN TRUCK CRASHED AND ROLLED TWICE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. TRUCK WAS COMPLETELY TOTALED. OCCUPANT REQUIRED MEDICAL TRANSPORT TO HOSPITAL AND WAS KEPT FOR A WEEK FOR TESTING AND TREATMENT FOR INJURIES. COUNTY SHERIFF ATTENDED TO CRASH SITE AND SUBMITTED TRAFFIC REPORT. WITH ALL THE RECENT RECALLS OF GM PRODUCTS - LIKE IN OTHER CRASHES, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. IGNITION. *TR
VEHICLE WAS IN (D) DRIVE AND I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF. IS THIS NORMAL? I CHECKED WITH MY GMC DEALER AND THEY SAID IT HAD TO BE PUT ON THE COMPUTER TO BE CHECKED, HOWEVER WAS NOT COVERED BY ANY POSTED RECALL. IS THIS RELATIVE TO THE IGNITION RECALL? THANK YOU *TR
ALL FOUR OF MY TRUCKS DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE FAILED. *TR
THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOORS FAILED BEFORE THE TRUCK HAD 35000 MILED ON THE ODOMETER.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED NEW TIRES AUGUST 14. ON AUGUST 30TH MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE WENT FLAT AS I WAS PUTTING AIR IN THE TIRE I NOTICED A KNOT AND AIR COMING OUT FROM THE RIM.I HAD THE TIRE REPLACED THIS PAST SATURDAY SEPT 14TH ON SEPT 17TH THE TIRE I HAD REPLACED DID THE SAME THING.
AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK WORKS INTERMITTENTLY ON PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR. DOOR LOCK HAS TO BE OPERATED MANUALLY TO ENSURE IT IS LOCKED/UNLOCKED
WARNING LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT AIR BAG, TOOK TO GMC DEALER AS GMC HAD NO RECALL ON THIS WARNING GMC DEALER RAN TEST DETERMINED THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR HAD CORRODED AND I HAD TO REPLACE IT AND IT WAS NOT COV BY WARRANTY, SO PD 317.00 TO HAVE REPLACED. SOMETHING THIS IMPORTANT IN THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND SENSOR MOVED TO OTHER LOCATION AS IT WAS CORRODED FROM WEATHER? GMC DEALER TOLD ME 2 THINGS COULD HAPPEN IF I DIDN'T GET IT FIXED, COULD GO OFF RANDOMLY OR WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF IN ACCIDENT THEREFORE BOTH OF WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED FATALITY IF HAPPENED IN OPERATION. WOULD LIKE COMPLAINT FILED AS I WILL NOT GET MY MONEY BACK, BUT GMC NEEDS TO BE AWARE OF THIS IN THIS YEAR TRUCK. MAYBE SAVE SOME LIVES IF IT IS RECALLED AND MOVED TO WHERE WEATHER CANT GET TO IT. GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS OF NO HELP IN GETTING THIS REPLACED OR EVEN A REPORT MADE OF THIS INCIDENT, I HAD THIS REPLACED IN OCT. 2013 AND WAS TERRIFIED EVERYDAY DRIVING IT THAT IT WOULD GO OFF, AND CAUSE ME AN ACCIDENT, AND DEALER ADVISED ME THAT I HAD 2 OF THESE BAGS, SO AT LEAST THEY (SENSOR) DID NOT GO BAD AT THE SAME TIME...THIS WAS A LOT OF MONEY TO ME TO HAVE THIS FIXED PLUS THE 39.00 TO HAVE THEM RUN COMPUTER TEST ON IT. NEEDS TO PROB BE A RECALL ON THIS PART, AND RELOCATION OF WHERE THE SENSORS ARE. THANKS *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 194,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DASH CRACKED TOP LEFT CORNER PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM SIMPLY GOOGLE GMC CRACKED DASH AND YOU SHALL SEE. IF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYS PLASTIC SHRAPNEL WOULD BE SENT ALL OVER THE CABIN. VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT GM IS IGNORING A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. *TR

THE DASHBOARD IS CRACKING DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WHICH CAN CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO TEAR AND OR FAIL TO DEPLOY PROPERLY IN A ACCIDENT. IN RESEARCHING THIS SUBJECT ON THE INTERNET I CAME TO FIND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE IN ALL GMC AND CHEVROLET LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS FROM 2007-2012. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE MAT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT HOWEVER AS THE IGNITION PROBLEM UNFOLDS WITH THE GM PRODUCTS I WANTED TO TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BRING TO THE ATTENTION A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY A YEAR OR SO AGO WITH MY 2008 GMC SIERRA. I TYPICALLY PARK MY TRUCK IN THE GARAGE WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. WE HAVE A LIVE CAMERA IN THE GARAGE AND ONE MORNING AROUND 7 AM AFTER A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AROUND 3 AM I FOUND ON THE CAMERA THE TRUCK RUNNING WITH FLASHING HEADLIGHTS. I WENT TO GARAGE IMMEDIATELY AND WAS HIT WITH VERY HIGH HEAT DUE TO THE TRUCK RUNNING. WITH THE CARBON MONOXIDE POTENTIAL I DID NOT GO INTO THE GARAGE. I GOT MY WIFE'S KEYS AND TRIED A "REMOTE STOP" AND THE HEADLIGHTS STOPPED FLASHING BUT THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN. I OPEN BOTH GARAGE DOORS AND WENT OUTSIDE SO I COULD ENTER THE GARAGE FROM THE OUTSIDE. I OPENED THE TRUCK DOOR AND BARELY TOUCHED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND THE TRUCK SHUT OFF. IT WAS NOT TURNED ON! WITHOUT A DOUBT IT HAD BEEN RUNNING ABOUT FOUR HOURS SINCE THE STORM. I CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER. AFTER TELLING THE DEALER THE STORY THEY BASICALLY LAUGHED AT ME AND SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BRING IT IN WHEN THE NEXT STORM CAME THRU. THEY LATER RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AT GM REQUEST AND FOUND A MYSTERIOUS IGNITION CODE BUT NO SOLUTION. WHAT MAKES THIS EVEN STRANGER IS THAT WE ALSO HAD A 2010 YUKON THAT STARTED ON ITS OWN ONE AFTERNOON WHEN MYSELF, A SHERIFF DEPUTY AND THREE OTHER NEIGHBORS WERE STANDING NEXT TO IT DURING A SEVERE LIGHTNING STORM. THE GARAGE DOOR WAS OPEN, THE KEYS WERE "NOT" IN THE IGNITION BUT WHEN THERE WAS A LOUD LIGHTNING STRIKE IT STARTED.TO RUN. I DID NOT CONTACT ANYONE AND IT NEVER HAPPENED AGAIN UNTIL THE TRUCK STARTED AFTER A LIGHTNING STORM. I HAVE SINCE SOLD BOTH VEHICLES BUT THEY ARE STILL IN THE LOCAL AREA. I REALLY FEEL THE GM IGNITION PROBLEM GOES A LOT DEEPER!! *TR
THE VEHICLE IS A 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LOCKED AUTOMATICALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO DRIVE. ONCE I HAD ARRIVED AT THE DESTINATION THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AS A RESULT. I ATTEMPTED TO USE THE ELECTRONIC LOCK TO RE-LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOOR AND THIS HAD NO SUCCESS. ATTEMPTED ROLLING DOWN THE WINDOW AND OPENING THE DOOR WITH THE OUTSIDE LATCH WHICH ALSO HAD NO SUCCESS. TRIED MANUALLY LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE DOOR AND NOTHING APPEARS TO ALLOW THIS DOOR TO BE OPENED USING THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE DOOR LATCHES. I HAD TO EXIT THE VEHICLE USING THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WHICH OPENED AS IT SHOULD. NEITHER INSIDE OR OUTSIDE DOOR LATCHES FUNCTIONED. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND THIS SHOULD BE PUT ON A RECALL LIST AND THE RESOLUTION SHOULD BE PROVIDED AT NO COST TO THE OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
ON THE MORNING OF APRIL 11 WE HAD A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AT APPROX. 3:00AM. LATER IN THE MORNING AT APPROXIMATELY 6:30AM I FOUND MY 2008 SIERRA TRUCK RUNNING IN MY GARAGE WITH THE GARAGE DOORS SHUT. THE HEADLIGHTS WERE FLASHING AND THE GARAGE WAS EXTREMELY HOT DUE TO THE ENGINE RUNNING. THERE WAS A LOT OF WATER CONDENSATION ON THE FLOOR INDICATING THAT THE ENGINE HAD BEEN RUNNING FOR QUITE SOME TIME. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS AT RUNNING TEMPERATURE. MY KEYS WERE IN THE IGNITION SO I OPENED THE GARAGE TO AIR OUT THE CARBON MONOXIDE AND TOOK MY WIFE'S KEYS AND TRIED TO STOP IT REMOTELY BUT IT WOULD NOT STOP. A FEW MINUTES LATER I WENT OUTSIDE AND CAME IN THRU THE GARAGE DOOR TRYING NOT TO BREATH THE FUMES. BY THEN THE TRUCK WAS NOT RUNNING. I FOUND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. WHEN I TOUCHED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OUT. THE SEAT PRESETS WERE MESSED UP AND THE CLOCK WAS SEVERAL HOURS OFF. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY THE TRUCK WAS REMOTE STARTED. EVEN IF IT WAS IT SHOULD ONLY RUN FOR 10 MINUTES. THIS WAS A VERY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS SITUATION! CONTINUING ON WITH A SIMILAR SITUATION A YEAR AGO, THERE WAS A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM COMING THRU. OUR NEIGHBORS HAD COME TO OUR HOUSE DURING THE WARNING SINCE WE HAD A BASEMENT. WE WERE ALL STANDING IN THE GARAGE WITH THE GARAGE DOOR OPEN AND OUR 2010 GMC YUKON STARTED UP LIKE SOMEONE TURNED ON THE IGNITION. THERE WERE NO KEYS IN THE IGNITION. THE ELECTRICAL STORM WAS ON-GOING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WE SAW OUR NEIGHBOR LEAVE IN HER YUKON SO WE THOUGHT MAYBE SHE REMOTE STARTED HERS SO I FOLLOWED UP WITH HER TO SEE IF SHE HAD REMOTED STARTED HER CAR AND SHE HAD NOT. SHE TRIED TO REMOTE START HER CAR AND IT DID NOT AFFECT OURS WHATSOEVER. IT APPEARS THAT BOTH INCIDENTS SEEM TO BE STORM RELATED. IT IS A VERY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS SITUATION KNOWING THIS COULD HAPPEN WHILE WE WERE ASLEEP OR AWAY FOR A FEW DAYS. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE SENSOR HOUSING WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. ERRATIC DOOR LOCK BEHAVIOR. PASSENGER AND REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK CONSISTENTLY. THE PASSENGER SIDE LOCK NOT LOCKING RESULTED IN THE THEFT OF A HANDGUN FROM MY VEHICLE. THIS DEFICIENCY LEAVES THE VEHICLE SUSCEPTIBLE TO THEFT, CARJACKING, DOORS COMING OPEN ON IMPACT. PASSENGERS, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN ARE AT RISK OF OPENING THE VEHICLE DOOR WHILE IN MOTION. IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY THE DOORS EFFECTED CAN NOT BE UNLOCKED FROM OTHER THAN THE MANUAL LATCH BUTTON TO AID PASSENGERS. *TR
MY 2008 GMC SIERRA HAS HAD THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS FAIL ON THREE OF THE FOUR DOORS. THE FIRST OCCURRED AFTER ABOUT 36,000 MILES AND THE MOST RECENT OCCURRED TODAY AT ABOUT 64,700 MLES. THE FIRST REPAIR COST OVER $300. I HAVE BEEN HESITANT TO HAVE THE OTHER TWO DOORS REPAIRED BECAUSE OF COST, BUT SAFETY IS A CONCERN. THE TWO REAR DOORS NOW WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED IN DRIVE, PRESENTING A HAZARD ESPECIALLY WHEN TRANPORTING CHILDREN. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET. SHOOULDN'T GM ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM? *TR
DASH IS CRACKING IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS. MY TRUCK IS HARDLY IN THE SUN AND I ALWAYS USE A SUN SHADE IN THE WINDSHIELD. THERE ARE SEVERAL CRACKS AROUND THE DASH AND I AM WORRIED THIS WILL HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE AIR BAG SYSTEMS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FROM GMC. *TR
MY CONCERN IS THREE DOOR POWER LOCKS HAVE GONE BAD AND REPLACED TWO SO FAR. MY CONCERN IS THE REAR DOORS ARE KEYLESS AND YOU CANT UNLOCK THEM FROM FRONT. I SPOKE TO GM AND THEY DON'T SEE A NEED TO RECALL TRUCK. I TALKED TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND GM DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE SEEING A LOT OF FAILED POWER LOCKS ON THIS MODEL TRUCK. CAN I GIVE YOU A WHAT IF SCENARIO SAY THEIRS A FIRE IN FRONT AND I CANT UNLOCK REAR DOORS TO GET MY CHILDREN OUT WOULDN'T THAT BE A LIABILITY ISSUE IF I COULDN'T GET THEM OUT TO SAVE THEIR LIVES. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE WILL NOT OPEN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. THE WINDOW HAS TO BE ROLLED DOWN IN ORDER TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE.... BASED ON THE GMC FORUMS I HAVE READ THIS HAPPENS TO A LOT OF PEOPLE. THE REPLACEMENT COSTS CAN RUN FROM $200-$800 DUE TO PLASTIC PIECES AND CABLES BEING USED THAT MELT AND BREAK EASILY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF SOMEONE WERE TO EVER GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AND THEY NEED TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE QUICKLY THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IF THAT IS THE ONLY OPTION TO BE ABLE TO GET OUT. THEY WILL HAVE TO KICK THE WINDOW OUT IN ORDER TO OPEN THE DOOR WITH THE OUTSIDE HANDLE. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE TRUCK AND AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THIS HAS APPENDED AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE. *TR

MY 2008 GMC DASH IS CRACKED IN TWO PLACES ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. AFTER SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET THIS CRACK(S) ARE A CHRONIC DEFECT IN THE 07/08 GENERAL MOTORS TRUCKS AND SUV'S. NO REASON FOR THESE CRACKS, NO IMPACT, ETC... THERE IS A COMMON CONCERN THE OWNERS SHARE THAT THIS DEFECT COULD IMPACT THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. *TR
I JUST READ THE SAFETY NOTICE FOR GMC 2007 YUKON INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES DELAMINATING AND CREATING SHARP CUTTING EDGES (EA 10004). THE EXACT SAME THING HAS HAPPENED ON MY 2008 GMC DENALI SIERRA (DRIVER SIDE) - I'VE SLICED MY FINGER A 3RD TIME AND AM NOW HAVING THE HANDLE REPLACED AT A COST OF $240. WHEN I CALLED GMC CUSTOMER COMPLAINT LINE THEY OFFERED NO HELP JUST EXCUSES...POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE...WOW, NO WONDER GM WENT BANKRUPT!! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A COMMON AND THAT THEY WERE WORKING TO FIND A REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WE HAVE HAD THREE OF THE POWER LOCKS GO OUT - FIRST WAS FRONT PASSENGER, WHICH WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND COVERED FREE OF CHARGE, SO WAS THE SECOND - THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE. BUT, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WENT OUT A YEAR LATER AND NOW THEY WILL NOT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. MY CONCERN IS THAT, HAVING SMALL CHILDREN, I HAVE HAD THEM LOCKED INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THE UNLOCK DOESN'T WORK, SO I HAVE TO CLIMB THROUGH TO ACCESS THE DOOR LOCK. IN AN EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, WHERE TIME IS OF ESSENCE - THIS IS A SEVERE ISSUE. *TR
THE DASH ON BOTH SIDES OF THE SPEAKER HAS CRACKED THROUGH TO THE AIR-BAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THROUGH SEVERAL INCHES OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DASH COVER ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THIS HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE UNTIL THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY VIBRATES WORSENING THE CRACK UNTIL IT APPEARS THAT IF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED, PIECES OF THE DASH MATERIAL COULD DISINTEGRATE AND INJURE SOMEONE. I'VE BEEN WATCHING THIS FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS. THIS IS A PRODUCT DEFECT AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER.

I HAVE TO LOCK AND UNLOCK BOTH OF MY PASSENGER SIDE DOORS MANUALLY, BECAUSE THE LOCKS DOESN'T WORK WITH THE KEY FOB NOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT GM SHOULD RECOGNIZE BECAUSE SOMEONE COULD HAVE VALUES STOLEN OUT OF THEIR VEHICLES IF NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE STOLEN IF THEY FORGET TO MANUALLY LOCK DOORS WHEN THERE IS A PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY CONTRIBUTING TO THE INJURY OF THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 69,000.
ALL FOUR DOOR LOCKS WERE INTERMITTENTLY INOPERATIVE & ONLY ABLE TO FUNCTION MANUALLY FROM THE INSIDE. TAKEN TO DEALER AND DIAGNOSED AS INTERNAL FAILURE IN DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLIES/ACTUATORS. ALL FOUR DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLIES WERE REPLACED AT A CUSTOMER COST OF $900+. THIS IS MY SECOND GMC VEHICLE THAT HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET THIS SEEMS TO BE A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM. EVEN THE DEALERSHIP MECHANIC MENTIONED SURPRISE THAT IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED OR GMC HAS NOT BEEN FORCED TO FIX THE PROBLEM CONSIDERING HOW OFTEN HE HAD PERSONALLY DIAGNOSED & FIXED THIS SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE CUSTOMER IS UNABLE TO RELY ON THE DOOR LOCK SYSTEM OR LOCK/UNLOCK THE DOORS AS USUAL. MULTIPLE TIMES, MY VEHICLE SAT AT THE AIRPORT FOR DAYS UNLOCKED BECAUSE OF THIS FAILURE. SIMILARLY, MY TODDLER-AGED CHILDREN WERE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOORS TO THE BACKSEAT WITH THE VEHICLE IN MOTION DUE TO THE FAILURE IN THE AUTOMATIC ASSEMBLY. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2008 GMC SIERRA PICKUP IN 2012 FROM GEORGE GEE AUTOMOTIVE IN LIBERTY LAKE WA. I EXPERIENCED THE FIRST AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT SHORTLY AFTER THE PURCHASE. I INFORMED THE DEALER GEORGE GEE ABOUT THIS AND WAS COMPLETELY IGNORED. I THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO PARKWAY AUTOMOTIVE IN DEER PARK WA.. PARKWAY NEVER REALLY FIGURED OUT WHY THE AIR BAGS HAD THE ERROR BUT AFTER TRYING A FEW THINGS THE ERROR LIGHT WENT OFF AND STAYED OFF UNTIL MARCH 26TH 2014 WHEN IT CAME BACK ON. AT FIRST IT WAS ON OCCASIONALLY FOR A FEW DAYS. NOW IT IS ON STEADY ALL OF THE TIME. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO PARKWAY TODAY 03/31/2014 AND WAS TOLD IT IS A MODULE ISSUE AND MY AIR BAGS ARE DISABLED BECAUSE OF IT. PARKWAY IS NOT A GM DEALER THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO REPAIR IT. I HAVE READ MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME AIR BAG ISSUE IN GM PRODUCTS AND FEEL THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING. *TR
VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON COLLISION WITH TWO CONCRETE WALLS, CAUSING A LIFE THREATENING TBI AND ALSO SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE LEFT ARM WHICH RESULTED IN IT'S INABILITY TO CONTROL/USE BELOW THE ELBOW, AND ESPECIALLY THE HAND. THIS WAS DUE TO THE BRACHIAL PLEXUS INJURY THAT WAS CAUSED WHEN THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AS THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO. I HAVE ATTACHED THE REPORT FROM POLICE AND INSURANCE COMPANY (WITH PHOTOS).

AFTER EXAMINING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE A FRAME WAS FRACTURED IN HALF ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500 POWER DOOR LOCKS ALL FAILED. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500. I HAVE READ ON ONE POST ALONE ABOUT A "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" MESSAGE BEING DISPLAYED, AND THERE ARE OVER 400 PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS. THE VEHICLES FROM GM GO INTO A REDUCED POWER AND HAVE NO THROTTLE AT SPEEDS OF UP TO 75+MPH. THERE HAVE BEEN WRECKS FROM THIS AND YET GM DOES NOTHING ABOUT IT. I HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE 2 NIGHTS AGO DOING 50 MPH WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD IN THE BACK SEAT. I WAS A LUCKY ONE AND HAD ROOM TO PULL OVER BEFORE SOMEONE SMACKED INTO THE BACK OF MY TRUCK. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR TAIL LIGHT MARKER ASSEMBLY WAS ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A PRIVATE MECHANIC. THE PRIVATE MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS A DEFECTIVE MARKER TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

PASSENGER DOOR LOCK STOPPED WORKING. ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK DOOR, IS BY REACHING ACROSS SEAT AND LIFT LOCK BUTTON. THIS IS UNSAFE IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT, WHERE THE DRIVERS DOOR IS UNABLE TO BE USED FOR EXIT, AND THE PASSENGER DOOR MUST BE USED. *TR
POWER DOOR LOCK FAILED ON DRIVER DOOR. YOU CAN NOT OPEN DOOR WITH OUT LIFTING HAND LATCH. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS-- MEANING YOU CAN NOT OPEN DOOR BY DOOR HANDLE-- THERE IS NO OVERRIDE LIKE PROVIDED ON OTHER VEHICLES. OTHER DOOR FAILED 2 MONTHS LATER. TRUCK LOCKS AND UNLOCKS DOORS WHEN MOVING SHIFTER FROM PARK TO DRIVE, THERE IS NO PROGRAM OPTION TO DELETE THIS OPTION. SO YOU LOCK AND UNLOCK DOORS EVERY TIME YOU SHIFT TRUCK TRANSMISSION TO PARK OR IN DRIVE. THIS IS NOT NEEDED IN MY CASE, SINCE YOU CAN MANUALLY DO SAME. THIS IS MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
