MARATHON IS RECALLING CERTAIN SEAT COVERS, BRAND SUPERHIDES WITH PART NUMBERS 593, 594, 578, 960, 228, 228-09, 267-08, 333, 625, AND 630, SOLD FOR USE AS AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT FOR VARIOUS PASSENGER VEHICLES. THESE SEAT COVERS ARE MADE OF HEAVIER THREAD AND ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH SEATS CONTAINING SIDE AIRBAGS. THE HEAVIER SEAT COVER COULD INTERFERE WITH FULL DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH.
Remedy Status
MARATHON WILL NOTIFY OWNERS OF RECORD AND REPLACE THE SEAT COVER FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MARATHON AT 1-800-735-2769.
2010GMC SIERRA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TAKATA AIRBAG SAFETY RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER ADVISED THE DASHBOARD WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT THE EXPENSE OF THE OWNER, DUE TO A CRACK. THE DEALER ADVISED THE DASHBOARD WOULD MORE THAN LIKELY DISINTERGRATE WHILE REPAIRING THE AIRBAG. THE CONSUMER STATED UPON RECIEVING THE INITIAL LETTER ABOUT THE AIRBAG, THERE WAS NO CRACK, BUT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE TO COMPLETE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONSUMER STATED IF THE RECALL HAD BEEN COMPLETED IN A TIMELY MANNER THE CRACK WOULD NOT HAVE YET FORMED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR IN IT ENTIRETY.
The contact owns a 2010 GMC Sierra. The contact stated that while the son was driving approximately 75 mph, the driver and passenger side curtain airbags erroneously deployed and the vehicle shut off. During the incident, no crash had occurred to cause the failure. The contact stated that her son sustained bruising to the right side of his face however, no medical attention was required. The vehicle would not restart and was towed to the local dealer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 125,000.
The contact owns a 2010 GMC Sierra. The contact stated that while driving at 15 MPH going into an intersection, another vehicle going at approximately 5 MPH, crossed in front of the contact. There were no warning lights illuminated. As a result, the vehicle impacted the other driver on the driver-side front and back door, where it came to a stop. None of the air bags deployed. The contact suffered injuries to his lower back, legs, and a bump on the head with a bruise. The contact's aunt suffered injuries to her back and hip. The contact's uncle's back suffered injuries to his right or left arm; the contact was unsure. The contact and his family member had to have physical therapy due to injuries suffered by a chiropractor. It was unknown if the other passengers in the other vehicle sustained any injuries. There was no property damage. A police report was filed however, the contact does not remember the police report information. The vehicle was towed to a body shop and was repaired. The contact stated he then received an unknown NHTSA notification for the air bags. The contact stated that after the accident sensors on the vehicle malfunctioned, and it has the air bag warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where recall repairs were completed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.
THE DOOR CABLE
CRACKED DASH BETWEEN PASSENGER AIR BAG AND DEFROSTER, CREATED A RATTLE SERVICE MANGER AT GAY GMC SAID THEY ALL CRACK $800 BUT THEY WOULD REPLACE FOR $400 I HAVE EXTENDED COVERAGE $100 DEDUCTIBLE GMC HAS A BIG PROBLEM OF PRODUCT DEFECT NOT FROM WEAR. I WANT IT REPLACED AT NO COST
ENGINE LIFTER ISSUE/LOW OIL PRESSURE PROBLEM RELATES TO HAVING THE LIFTERS REPLACED. THE 5.3 VORTEC ENGINE HAS AFM (ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT). DEALER WANTS $5800 TO FIX THE LIFTER ISSUE, WHILE ESTIMATES TO REPLACE THE ENGINE WITH NECESSARY PARTS RUNS BETWEEN $6900 AND $7200. IS THIS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM? TRUCK HAS 52,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN SERVICED AT REGULAR INTERVALS. TRUCK WAS PARKED WHEN THE ISSUE BECAME EVIDENT DURING THE STARTUP. TRUCK IS NOW AT THE DEALER (TOWED) AWAITING REPAIR.

THE TRUCK WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I GOT IN AND STARTED THE IGNITION. AS SOON AS I DID, THE PLASTIC DASHBOARD CRACKED AT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. ONE WEEK LATER, SAME SITUATION, AS I STARTED THE IGNITION, THE DASH CRACKED ABOVE THE DRIVER'S SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CRACKS HAVE CONTINUED TO GROW SINCE INITIALLY APPEARING. I HAVE A SAFETY CONCERN THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY AS INTENDED SINCE THE INTEGRITY OF THE DASHBOARD HAS FAILED, AND FURTHER CONCERN THAT IF THE AIR BAGS DO DEPLOY, THAT THE DASH HAS BECOME SO BRITTLE THAT THERE WILL BE SHARP CHARDS OF PLASTIC IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AS THE DASH IS SHATTERED INTO PIECES FROM THE IMPACT OF A CRASH.
DRIVERS SIDE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE - CHROME IS PEELING EDGES ARE SHARP CUT HAND OPENING DOOR
VEHICLE HAS CRACKED DASH IN AREA OF PASSENGER AIR BAG WHICH COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE SHRAPNEL IF AIRBAGS ARE DEPLOYED. THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THIS CRACK IN THE EXACT SAME AREA AS MINE. CONTACTED GM AND THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE A PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 GMC SIERRA. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE LEAF SPRING FRACTURED AND PUNCTURED A TIRE AFTER DRIVING OVER A POTHOLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2010 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHORTLY AFTER PARKING, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED BACK TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
A CRACK HAS FORMED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE DASH BOARD NEAR THE AIR BAG. THIS SHOULD NOT OCCUR IN A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WITHOUT ANY MENTION OR ACTION TO REPAIR. I WILL BE CONTACTING THEM ON MONDAY ABOUT COVERING THE REPAIR. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DESIGN ISSUE AND THE DASH SHOULD BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. IN THE MONTH OF JUNE 2015, I HAD TO HAVE MY MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER REPLACED. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS IN JANUARY 2015 OF THIS YEAR AND I FILLED THE MASTER CYLINDER WITH FLUID BECAUSE OF THE BRAKE WARNING SYSTEM CAME ON AND THE BRAKE FLUID IN THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS AT THE MINIMUM LEVEL. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED TAT IT COULD BE THE RESULT OF LOW BRAKES AND TO KEEP AN EYE ON IT AND IF IT LOOSE BRAKE FLUID TO BRING IT IN.WHEN IT OCCUR AGAIN IN JUNE 2015, I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER. IT WAS DETERMINE THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER CAUSING THE WARNING LIKES ON THE DASH TO ILLUMINATE. AT JUST OVER 40,000 MILES, THIS SHOULD BE COVER BY GM AS A WARRANTY ITEM. I BELIEVE I AM DUE A REFUND.
ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING, DASH GAUGES BLANK. I MANAGED TO PULL OVER WITHOUT POWER BRAKES OR STEERING! AFTER A FEW MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO RESTART WITH "REDUCED ENGINE POWER, TRACTION CONTROL OFF, AND STABILITRAC" PROBLEMS DISPLAYED ON DASH. I WAS A MILE FROM HOME IN -10F TEMPS! I PULLED IT INTO MY SHOP. DTC CODE P2135 WHICH HAS TO DO WITH THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. THE DEALER HAS A 2 WEEK DELAY IN GETTING INTO THEIR GARAGE! I FOUND OUT THAT THE THROTTLE BODY/SENSOR IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SO WITH THE COST OF A TOW (CAN'T TRUST THE TRUCK TO MAKE TO DEALER) PLUS THE PART COST, I WILL REPAIR IT MYSELF. THE REASON FOR THIS LETTER, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER GMC TRUCK OWNERS. THEIR VEHICLE QUIT IN THE SAME MANNER. I THINK THAT "REDUCED POWER" IS NOT THE SAME AS NO POWER!!! I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO ME IF I WAS ON THE FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOURS??? BE PREPARED FOR SOME CREATIVE DRIVING! *TR
I WAS TRAVELING HOME FROM VACATION AND ABOUT 70 MILES AN HOUR IN MY 2010 GMC SIERRA AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY TRUCK REVVED UP AND MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. I ABOUT GOT HIT FROM BEHIND. I PULLED OVER AND THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD. I OPEN THE HOOD AND THERE'S TRANSMISSION FLUID FROM THE FRONT TO THE BACK UNDER THE TRUCK. ONE OF THE COOLING LINES RUBBED THE OTHER AND CHAFFED A HOLE. COST ME 150 DOLLARS IN TOWING FEES. GM DOESN'T WANT TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY REMOVED THIS PART OFF THEIR WARRANTY IN 2009. TRYING TO COVER UP THEIR MISTAKE .I CALLED GM PRIORITY CARE AND THEY HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO BECK AND MASTEN GM. THEY ARE TRYING TO CHARGE ME FOR THE REPAIRS WHEN ITS A DEFECT ON GM'S PART. MY QUESTION IS HOW MANY INNOCENT DRIVERS ARE GOING TO GO BANKRUPT PAYING FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION WHEN IT WAS GM'S MISTAKE IN DESIGN. OR EVEN WORSE HOW MANY WILL GET KILLED ON THE HIGHWAY. ON 10/29/2014 I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH ODI NUMBER 10650997 ABOUT THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLES ON MY 2010 GMC SIERRA SINCE THREE OF THEM HAD BROKEN OFF SINCE DECEMBER 2013. THEN ON 11/6/2014, THE PASSENGER BACK DOOR HANDLE CAME LOOSE & IS PULLING OUT OF THE DOOR. THIS IS THE ONLY ONE OF THE DOOR HANDLES THAT HAS NOT BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPLACED. ALL OF THE DOOR HANDLE FAILURES HAVE OCCURRED SINCE DECEMBER 2013. THIS PRESENTS A POTENTIAL HAZARD. IT HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE ON THE DOOR WITH BROKEN HANDLES THAT IF THE DOOR HANDLE COMES COMPLETE OFF, IT IS HARD TO GET THE DOOR TO LATCH PROPERLY CAUSING IT TO POP OPEN WHICH COULD EASILY HAPPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION PUTTING ANYONE SITTING BY THE DOOR IN HARM'S WAY. IT IS VERY DISCONCERTING TO ME THAT ALL FOUR DOOR HANDLES HAVE NOW FAILED. I WOULD DEFINITELY THINK THIS IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW WITH THESE VEHICLES. TWO OF THE HANDLES WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY HOWEVER, THE COST TO REPLACE THE REMAINING TWO IS $200+ EACH. TO DATE GMC IS NOT WILLING TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. *TR
THE DASH IS MY TRUCK HAS STARTED TO CRACK. FROM RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I SEE THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON OCCURRENCE. THE DEALER SAID IT IS NOT COVERED ALTHOUGH I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I AM UNSATISFIED WITH GM AND FEEL THIS CRACK DASH COULD BE A HAZARD IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR. I WOULD LOVE A COMPROMISE FROM GM TO AT LEAST OFFER TO PAY SOME OF THE COST OF REPLACEMENT, IF NOT ALL OF IT. *TR
ON OR ABOUT THAT DATE, DRIVING ABOUT 25 MILES ON RURAL ROADS AT SPEEDS FROM 45 TO 55 MPH, THE DAMPNESS IN THE AIR CAUSED CONDENSATION HAZE TO FORM ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDOW. I TURNED ON THE DEFROSTERS WHICH CLEARED OFF THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW SO I COULD SEE BUT THE PASSENGERS SIDE NEVER CLEARED AND I HAD 0 VISIBILITY TO ANYTHING ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD OR PULLING OUT FROM DRIVEWAYS OR ROADS ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO GET REPAIRED TO BE TOLD GM HAD A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS THAT SHOWED THEM HOW TO REPROGRAM THE SYSTEM TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. ALSO THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A REAR CAMERA SYSTEM THAT IS INTERMITTENT IN ITS OPERATION, SOMETIMES BLURRED IMAGES OR SOMETIMES BLANK COMPLETELY. THE DEALER DISCONNECTED AND RECONNECTED THE CAMERA SYSTEMS THINKING THE CONNECTION MIGHT HAVE AN ISSUE BY BEING CONTAMINATED,OXIDIZED, OR LOSS. NOT SURE IF RELATED BUT THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED MY RIGHT REAR SPEAKER SEVERAL TIMES CLAIMING THAT THE SPEAKER IS SEEING SHORTS AND/OR HIGHER POWER OR SHORTING INTERNALLY. BEING THIS IS MULTIPLE TIMES (3 OR 4 TIMES FOR THIS SAME REPAIR) WHAT OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEMS WILL I BE SEEING AND WILL ANY OF THESE LEAD TO FIRES OF ADDITIONAL SYSTEM DAMAGE. EVEN WITH THESE KNOW ISSUES AND SERVICE BULLETINS ISSUED ON THE BLOWER SYSTEM AS DOCUMENTED ON THE REPAIR INVOICE, WHILE KNOWING THAT LOSS OF VISION THROUGH THE WINDOW IS POSSIBLE, GM HAS NOT INITIATE ANY CAMPAIGN TO PROACTIVELY FIX THIS. ONLY AFTER THE PROBLEM OCCURS AND IF THE PERSON IS LUCKY TO AVOID ACCIDENTS WILL THEY ADDRESS THIS WHEN YOU COME INTO COMPLAIN ABOUT, BUT BY THAT TIME THEY HOPE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY SO THEY CAN CHARGE YOU. AFTER ALL IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THIS SYSTEM WORKING PROPERLY SO PEOPLE WILL PAY TO GET THIS FIXED. *TR
THE DASH BOARD ON MY 2010 GMC HAS CRACKED IN SEVERAL AREAS, INCLUDING AT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. I HAVE STRONG CONCERNS THAT THE DASH WILL BREAK APART IN AN ACCIDENT IF THE AIRBAG WERE TO DEPLOY AND POSSIBLY INJURE OCCUPANTS IN THE CABIN. THE PLASTIC IS VERY BRITTLE AND COULD EASILY CUT SOMEONE. *TR
