THE PARKING BRAKE DID NOT ENGAGE WHEN DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE OWNER HAS CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THE OWNER RECEIVED A SECOND OPINION AND WAS TOLD THAT THE POSITIONING OF THE PARKING BRAKE WAS DEFECTIVE. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. FUEL PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE. HAD FUEL PUMP REPLACED.
DT:CONSUMER STATES: VEHICLE LOST POWER GOING DOWN HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH, VEHICLE LOST BRAKES, LIGHTS, GAS. CAN'T DO ANYTHING. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND DEALER REPLACED FUEL PUMP. NORMALLY HAPPENS WHEN IT IS WARM OUTSIDE.*AK
HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH BRAKES. THEY DO NOT STOP PROPERLY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THEY ARE GOING TO WORK OR NOT. MY WIFE HAS ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS ON THE FREEWAY APPLIED THE BRAKES QUICKLY AND THE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR, THANK GOD THERE WAS AN EMERGENCY LANE WHERE SHE SWERVED OUT TO. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO ME. WE ARE TOLD THAT YOU DO NOT PUMP THE BRAKES ON AN ABS BRAKING SYSTEM, WELL MY WIFE CAME HOME AND TOLD ME BY PUMPING THE PEDAL THE BRAKES SEEM TO STOP A LITTLE BETTER. NOW WHAT DO YOU THINK THAT IS TELLING YOU??? I HAVE BEEN IN THE AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS FOR OVER 40 YEARS, AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. THEY HAVE YET TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG, AND SINCE THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME IN ON A HOOK AND OR WAS NOT IN A ACCIDENT THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING. WE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE BRAKES SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. AT THIS POINT I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER GMC AGAIN, AND I AM LETTING EVERYONE KNOW THIS. BOTH HEATED REARVIEW MIRRORS CRACK SIDE NEXT TO CAR AT HEATING ELEMENT AND THEN THE CRACK MOVES ACROSS THE MIRROR. *NM
INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT VERY SLOW SPEED. AND APPLYING THE BRAKES PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, AND THERE WERE NO BRAKES. THIS RESULTED IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH VEHICLE LOST POWER. WITHOUT WARNING. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT A CARBON BUILD UP ON THE PISTON CAUSED THE KNOCKING. *AK
WHEN SHIFTING THE GEARS TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTED ON ITS ON. VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO WORN OUT PARTS. *AK
TREAD SEPARATION ON FIRESTONE WILDERNESS TIRE. *AK
DEC 24 2004 I RETURNED TO MY PARKED CAR AND STARTED THE ENGINE, THE FRONT DEFROST BLOWERS WENT TO HIGH SPEED AND WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. AT MY NEXT STOP I STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES BUT THE FAN KEPT RUNNING. REMOVING THE KEYS OPENING THE DOOR DID NOTHING. AFTER REMOVING THE FUSE TO THE FRONT HAVC THE FAN STOPPED BUT STARTED AGAIN WHEN THE FUSE WAS RE-INSTALLED. AFTER RETURNING HOME I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY FOR A HALF HOUR THE FAN STAYED OFF, THE CONTROLS WORKED PROPERLY. DEC 28TH STOPPING FOR GAS, I TURNED THE CAR OFF BUT THE FAN CAM ON AGAIN AT FULL SPEED. I CHECKED ON LINE AND IT SEEMS SEVERAL PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM BUT THE DEALERS HAVE NOT COME UP WITH A FIX. AT THIS TIME I HAVE PULLED THE FUSE TO KEEP THE FAN FROM BLOWING BUT IT'S TOO COLD TO BE DRIVING WITH NO HEAT OR DEFROST IN THE CAR. WHEN I GET HOME WHERE I HAVE TOOLS I WILL AGAIN DISCONNECT THE BATTERY.
WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK THERE WOULD BE A HOWLING NOISE AS IF SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE POWER BOOSTER AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD VIBRATE. THE PROBLEM ONLY OCCURRED AROUND 10 MPH. *SC *JB
BLOWER MOTOR FOR HVAC SYSTEM COMES ON WHENEVER IT WANTS-EVEN WITH THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 11 TIMES FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. FOR COMPLETE DETAILS VISIT WWW.STEVENRASBACH.COM/GMC
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC YUKON XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE ENGINE WOULD COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. OCCASIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WOULD IMMEDIATELY RESTART, BUT OTHER TIMES, IT WOULD TAKE A WHILE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE STALLED THE MOST DURING DECELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED ONCE AND THE DEALER MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT THE FAILURE, BUT HAS BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,409 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,523. UPDATED 04/29/08. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE HAVE BEEN NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. UPDATED
DEFECTIVE ENGINE (PISTONS KNOCKING IN CYLINDERS, AS DOCUMENTED BY DEALER) ON 2002 YUKON SLT; 19,500 MILES
FUEL TANK LEAKS WHEN FILLED BEYOND 2/3-3/4 FULL. GAS TANK LEAKED GAS ON GARAGE FLOOR DAMAGING COATED/SEALED FLOOR. FORTUNATELY LEAKAGE WAS DISCOVERED BEFORE IT WAS ABLE TO IGNITE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER AND I WAS ADVISED THAT IN FACT THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY GAS TANK. I WAS ALSO ADVISED INITIALLY THAT A REPLACEMENT TANK WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL JANUARY, 2004. AS IT TURNS OUT, THEY OBVIOUSLY HAVE HAD A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF THESE COMPLAINTS AND I SUSPECT THAT THEY HAVE HAD TO REDESIGN AND PRODUCE A SAFER REPLACEMENT TANK. MY DEALER HAS REPLACED "SEVERAL" OF THESE TANKS. WHY WAS THERE NOT A NOTICE SENT OUT TO THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES WHEN THEY ARE AWARE OF THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROBLEM. ARE WE GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE LEAKAGE OF FUEL IN OUR GARAGES IS IGNITED WITH A WATER HEATER COMING ON WHILE WE ARE SLEEPING? THIS PROBLEM MUST BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. I PURCHASED ANOTHER IDENTICAL YUKON XL WITH MY DAUGHTER FROM THIS SAME DEALER. THIS VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY OUT OF SERVICE AT THE DEALERS LOCATION WAITING FOR A REPLACEMENT GAS TANK. *LA
DT: THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THAT THERE ARE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE GMC. THE WATER PUMP WAS OUT, THE RADIO HAS QUIT WORKING 5 TIMES, AND HAS BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES, THE WINDOWS ON THE PASSENGER QUIT, AND THE REGULATOR WAS REPLACED 4 TIMES. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT 35,000 MILES. *AK
TIRES ON 2002 GMC YUKON XL FIRESTONE WILDERNESS P265R70-16 ARE CUPPING AND ARE WORN OUT. 26000 MILES. GMC DEALER SAYS IT IS TIRE DEFECT, FIRESTONE DEALER SAYS IT A DESIGN DEFECT IN VEHICLE. FIRESTONE DEALER SAYS THEY SEE NUMEROUS CASES OF PREMATURE TIRE WARE DUE TO DESIGN DEFECT IN VEHICLE FRONT SUSPENSION. NEED ASSISTANCE IN RESOLVING ISSUE OF DEFECT TIRE VS VEHICLE. *LA
VECHICLE HESITATION, I WAS PROCEEDING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN WHEN MY DENALI HESITATED TO MOVE AND I WAS STUCK IN AN INTERSECTION, IT TOOK MY VECHILE MORE THAN 5 SECONDS TO KICK INTO GEAR LUCKILY THERE WAS NO CARS COMING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OR MY DAUGHTER AND MYSELF WOULD PROBABLY NOT BE HERE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MORE THAN A YEAR AND A HALF. WHICH OF COURSE THE DEALER CANT DIAGNOSE, CHANGING THE THROTTLE BODY & TURBINE SHAFT HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING FOR MY VECHILE IT STILL HESITATES....I REPORTED IT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE VECHICLE. IT IS DEFINITLY AN UNSAFE VECHILE TO DRIVE.
I REALIZE THIS MAY NOT SEEM LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE; BUT BEAR WITH ME. WE HAVE A YUKON XL GMC 2002 MODEL. WE HAVE HAD THE CARPET REPLACED 3 TIMES!! THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE CARPET ON THIS MODEL. IT SHEDS, NOT A LITTLE HAND FULLS. IF YOU ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN "FUZZ" FROM THE CARPET IS FLYING EVERYWHERE. AFTER DISCUSSION WITH ANNE MARIE EXECUTIVE FOR GMC, I LEARNED THAT 2002, 2003, AND SOON TO BE 2004 CARPET IS LIKE THIS. THIS WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT COUNT ON IT. YOU ARE SO CAUGHT OFF GUARD AT THE FLYING CARPET. PLEASE JUST LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. I RECEIVED AN ANSWER OF THAT IS JUST THE WAY IT IS AND WE DON'T HAVE TO CHANGE IT.
I HAVE A 2002 GMC YUKON XL. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN JUNE OF 2002. AT 376 MILES MY BRAKE SYSTEM LOCKED UP. I HAVE CONTINUED TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM EVER SINCE. AS YOUR DRIVING THE BRAKES APPLY AND YOU LOOSE CONTROL OF YOUR STEERING. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR ALL THE TIME, BUT DOES HAPPEN. THEY HAVE REPLACED MY MASTER CYLINDER, POWER BOOSTER, AND ALL 4 ROTORS. THIS PROBLEM IS STILL NOT FIXED AND BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP CAN NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM WHILE THEY ARE DRIVING IT, THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED ON 9/11/03 IT WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP, THEY HAVE INFORMED ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I HAVE LEFT THE VEHICLE THERE BECAUSE I FEAR DRIVING IT. LAST THING I HEARD WAS THEY WERE SHIPPING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE IT WAS THERE PROBLEM. MODEL: 2001 GMC YUKON 4WD DATE OF PURCHASE: SEPTEMBER 25, 2001 RIGHT NOW OUR YUKON IS AT FIORE'S IN ALTOONA, PA FOR THE THIRD TIME TRYING TO BE FIXED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS THE THIRD DAY THAT THEY HAVE HAD OUR CAR. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP WHEN TURNING RIGHT AND BRAKING. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. HISTORY: JULY 26, 2003: WHILE VACATIONING IN DELAWARE THE STEERING BEGAN TO FAIL (THE STEERING WOULD ALMOST LOCK UP AND MAKE IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL). THE FAILURE ALWAYS OCCURRED WHILE TURNING THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE PROBLEM DIDN'T ALWAYS OCCUR, HOWEVER DURING THE 5-HOUR DRIVE BACK HOME ON JULY 27, THE STEERING FAILED SEVERAL TIMES CAUSING EXTREME STRESS. JULY 28, 2003: CALLED THE DEALER WHERE THE YUKON WAS PURCHASED (FIORE PONTIAC GMC, ALTOONA, PA) AND TOLD THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ABOUT THE STEERING PROBLEM. THE CAR WAS SCHEDULED TO BE SEEN ON THURSDAY, JULY 31, 2003. JULY 31, 2003: THE YUKON WAS SEEN BY THE FIORE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A STEERING SENSOR THAT NEEDED REPLACED. THE PART WASN'T AVAILABLE AND HAD TO BE ORDERED. I HAD TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS TO FIND THE STATUS OF THE PART. THE PART WAS NOT DELIVERED UNTIL TUESDAY, AUGUST 5, 2003. AUGUST 5, 2003: THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SCHEDULED THE PART TO BE INSTALLED ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 7, 2003 AUGUST 7, 2003: THE NEW SENSOR WAS INSTALLED AUGUST 9, 2003: WHILE VACATIONING IN DELAWARE, THE STEERING AGAIN FAILED AS BEFORE. THERE WAS NO CHANGE EVEN AFTER THE NEW SENSOR WAS INSTALLED. RETURNED FROM VACATION ON AUGUST 13, 2003. THE STEERING FAILED SEVERAL TIMES DURING THIS PERIOD. AUGUST 13, 2003: CALLED FIORE PONTIAC SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO NOTIFY THEM THAT THE STEERING PROBLEM HAD NOT BEEN CORRECTED. WAS TOLD TO BRING THE CAR IN THE AFTERNOON OF AUGUST 18, 2003. DURING THE NEXT 5 DAYS, THE STEERING CONTINUED TO FAIL AND TIGHTEN UP SEVERAL TIMES.
I BOUGHT A NEW 2002 YUKON XL WHICH CAME WITH FIRESTONE WILDERNESS LE TIRES INCLUDING THE SPARE. I HAVE ROTATED ALL TIRES PROPERLY AND ACCORDING TO THE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE, EVERY THREE TO FIVE THOUSAND MILES. I HAVE HAD THE FRONT END ALIGNMENT CHECK OUT, WHICH WAS FOUND TO BE PERFECTLY IN ALIGNMENT. THE TIRES HAVE 24,000 MILES ON THEM. ALL FOUR OF MY TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE WITH HIGH/LOW SPOTS ON THE OUTSIDE AND INSIDE TREAD. THE THREE CENTER ROWS OF TREAD ARE WEARING PERFECTLY CORRECT AND EVEN. THE TIRE SHOP AND THE DEALERSHIP RECCOMMENDS REPLACING ALL THE TIRES BECAUSE THEY ARE A SAFETY HAZARD AND COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT AT HIGHER HIGHWAY SPEEDS.*AK
PURCHASED A NEW 2002 GMC YUKON XL, AT ABOUT 6800 MILES THE STEERING DEVELOPED A RATTLE, DEALER UNDER WARRANTY REGREASED THE STEERING SHAFT, THIS HELPED FOR A ABOUT A YEAR AND IT STARTED AGAIN. DEALER RE-GREASED WITH WHAT THEY SAID WAS A NEW GREASE THAT SHOULD SOLVE THE RATTLE PROBLEM. IT HAS STARTED THE RATTLE AGAIN AND ONLY HAS 38000 MILES. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A REDESIGNED STEERING SHAFT THAT SOLVES THIS RATTLE PROBLEM. HERE IS THE BULLETIN TO SOLVE THE POOR SHAFT DESIGN, SHOULD BE A RECALL BUT LOOKS LIKE GM IS ONLY REPLACING ON A CASE BY CASE ISSUE WAITING FOR YOUR WARRANTY TO BE OUT, AT WHICH TIME THEY CHARGE YOU FOR THE POOR DESIGN STEERING SHAFT. ELECTRICAL FAILURE OF THE LOAD LEVELING DEVICE. FUSES CONSISTANTLY FAIL WHEN COMPRESSER ACTIVATES WHEN LOAD IS IN OR ON VEHICLE. THIS OCCURS WITH OR WITHOUT A TRAILER HOOKED UP. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLE SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE IN MID 2002. ATTEMPTED TO BE FIXED THREE TIMES IN THE LASE 30 DAYS. DEALER UNABLE TO ISOLATE THE PROBLEM. INDEPENDANT MECHANIC SAYS DUE TO ELECTRICAL PROBLEM HIGH PROBABLY OF FIRE OR BURN OUT OF WIRING.*AK
ON 07/14/03 AT 22602 MILES, WE TOOK OUR 2002 YUKON XL (REGENCY EDITION) TO SUSS PONTIAC IN DENVER, COLORADO, TO INVESTIGATE A CLUNKING/KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE SUSPENSION WHEN TURNING WHICH CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO VIBRATE. ON OCCASION, THE STEERING WHEEL HAD EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE WHEEL AND WOULD HESITATE WHEN TURNING. SUSS PONTIAC VERIFIED THE COMPLAINT AND FOUND THE "INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT" DRY AND CLUNKING. THE SHAFT WAS THEN LUBED AS PER BULLETIN #II-00-02-35-003B AND WE WERE TOLD AT THE TIME THAT THE PROBLEM SHOULD NOT REOCCUR. THE PROBLEM RECURRED DURING THE FALL OF 2005 WHILE VACATIONING IN TEXAS. AFTER DISCUSSING THE INCIDENT OVER THE PHONE WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN, MORE OF AN IRRITATION TO THOSE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND WE SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM GETTING HOME. WE MADE IT BACK TO DENVER WITHOUT INCIDENT, BUT VERY ANNOYING. ON 10/25/05, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP (LEN LYALL OF AURORA, CO) ONLY TO LEARN THAT A NEW BULLETIN (# UNKWN) HAD BEEN ISSUED REQUIRING THAT THE "INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT" BE REPLACED. LEN LYALL THEN PULLED A VEHICLE SERVICE INQUIRY LISTING ALL SERVICES PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER, IT WAS NOTED IN THE SUMMARY THAT THE SHAFT HAD BEEN REPLACED, BUT MY COPY OF THE INVOICE REFERRED TO THE SHAFT BEING LUBED. I AM NOW TROUBLED BY THE FACT THAT GMC FOUND IT NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE SHAFT AND STILL TELLING ME THAT IT IS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN. I WOULD THINK THAT ANYTHING HAVING TO DO WITH THE ESSENTIAL COMPONENT (BRAKES, STEERING, TIRES, ETC) IS A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE. DOES IT TAKE SOMEONE TO BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR DIE TO INSTITUTE A MANDATORY RECALL? *JB

I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 70 MPH WHEN MY LEFT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. TIRE HAD ABOUT 26,600 MILES AND WAS IN GOOD CONDITION UNTIL THIS TIME. TIRE HAD ABOUT 35 PSI. *NLM
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BECOMING DISCONNECTED FROM THE HINGES, WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO ENTER AND EXIT THE VEHICLE. *JB
2000 GMC YUKON XL. FUEL LEAK IN MY GARAGE AFTER FILLING GAS TANK. LEAKED AT LEAST 6-8 GALLONS OF FUEL INTO GARAGE. SERVICE FACILITY DIAGNOSED PROBLEM TO BE FAULTY PLUNGER IN FUEL PUMP. VERY DANGEROUS, SINCE MY GARAGE CONTAINS GAS HOT WATER HEATER WITH PILOT. HAZARDOUS MATERIAL CLEANUP (REQUIRED BY FIRE DEPARTMENT) COST $1600. *NLM

I BELIEVE THE DESIGN OF THE GMC YUKON POSSES A GREAT RISK OF COSTLY REPAIRS AND THE POSSIBLITY OF A FATAL ACCIDENT. I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO THE DEALER BECAUSE WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE RADIO WENT OUT. I ASSUMED THAT MAYBE A FUSE HAD WENT OUT. BUT WHEN ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO REPLACE THE BLOWN FUSE, THOSE FUSES BLEW ALSO. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER, I WAS INFORMED THAT A SHORTING OF THE WIRING OCCURRED BECAUSE SODA WAS SPILLED IN THE REAR CUP HOLDER. THIS CAUSED THE RADIO, SPEEDOMETER, HEAT, ETC... TO GO OUT ON THE FRONT DASH PANEL IN ADDITION TO MAKING SOMETHINGS COME ON WHEN THEY WERE IN THE OFF POSITION. BECAUSE OF THE SPILLAGE CLAIM FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THIS I WAS TOLD WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. MY PROBLEM IS THIS, IF A LEAKAGE FROM A CUP-HOLDER CAN CAUSE SO MUCH DAMAGE, SHOULD THOSE WIRES BE SO EASILY EXPOSED? SHOULDN'T THERE BE SOME TYPE OF SAFETY MECHINISM IN PLACE TO PREVENT THIS FROM OCCURRING. THIS VEHICLE IS PROMOTED AS A FAMILY CAR, BUT IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE SAFE FOR A FAMILY. IF THE WIRES ARE SO CLOSE TO THE SURFACE UNPROTECTED THAT SODA COULD GO INTO IT FROM A CUP HOLDER, WHAT ABOUT A LITTLE CHILD HAND. I HAVE A TWENTY MONTH OLD DAUGHTER WHO RIDES IN A CAR SEAT IN THE REAR, SHE OFTEN DRINKS FROM A SIP-IT-CUP WHILE BACK THERE. SIP-IT-CUP RARELY LEAK, SO HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT AN AMOUNT GREAT ENOUGH TO CAUSE THIS MUCH DAMAGE COULD OCCUR? SOME SORT OF SAFETY MECHANISM NEEDS TO BE INSTALL TO PREVENT CONTACT WITH THESE WIRES. THESE WIRES CAUSE QUITE A BIT OF SYSTEMS TO FAIL ON THE VEHICLE. WHAT'S NEXT ? I HATE TO IMAGINE THAT IF THIS OCCURS AGAIN THAT MAYBE IT WON'T BE THE RADIO THAT GOES OUT MAYBE IT WILL BE A FIRE THAT STARTS OR MAYBE THE ENTIRE CAR MIGHT EXPLODE. A SAFETY RECALL IS DEFINITELY IN ORDER.
REAR SIDE MIRROR ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE HAVE HAIRLINE CRACKS. THEY WERE REPLACED AND NOW THEY ARE BACK. THE HAIRLINE CRACK IN THE MIRROR DISTORTS VIEWS AND IS A SAFETY CONCERN. I BELIEVE THE MIRRORS ARE TOO THIN TO HANDLE THE DEFROST OPTIONS ON THE MIRRORS. THEY SEEN TO FAIL ON THEIR OWN. *NM

THE HEADLIGHTS ARE SUPPOSED TO SHUT OFF AFTER THE DOME OVER RIDE BUTTON IS PUSHED FOUR (4) TIMES WITHIN SIX (6) SECONDS PER THE MANUAL BUT THE HEADLIGHTS ARE SHUTTING OFF AFTER SOMETIMES 1 HIT OR 2 OR 3 AND SOMETIMES 4. DRIVING HOME LATE ONE NIGHT ON A BUSY DENVER INTERSTATE WE I HIT THE BUTTON ONCE AND ALL THE LIGHTS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE WENT OFF. VERY DANGEROUS. THE DEALER SAYS THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AS THERE ARE NO MANUFACTURERS NOTICES AND THE COMPUTER SAYS THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS. *NLM

THE BRAKE LINE (A METAL ROD, NOT HOSE) BROKE OFF, ON AN ICE MOUNTAIN ROAD ON DECEMBER 23, 2002. THE CAR WAS BRAND NEW WITH 9800 MILES ON IT AND THERE MY THREE CHILDREN AGES 3, 3, AND 5 WERE IN THE CAR. WE WERE TOWED DOWN THE MOUNTAIN FOR 60 MILES. GENERAL MOTORS FIXED THE BRAKE LINE AND TOOK OVER TWO MONTHS TO GET BACK TO ME WITH A $55.00 REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE CAR RENTAL. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC FOR MY FAMILY. VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH ANOTHER SUV ("T-BONE"). SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 35-45 MPH HIT BRAKES, BUT OTHER VEHICLE PULLED IMMEDIATELY OUT IN FRONT OF VEHICLE IN QUESTION. SMASHED FRONT END OF VEHICLE EQUALLY ON BOTH SIDES (SQUARE IMPACT) AND CAUSED CONTENTS FROM VEHICLE TO COME FROM FAR BACK TO THE FRONT SEATS. WENT FROM 45-0 MPH IN A FEW FEET (ALMOST FLIPPED OTHER SUV), YET AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. FORCE CAUSED SEATBELT TO COMPLETELY STRETCH OUT AND LOCK IN PLACE PERMANENTLY. (WOULD NOT RETRACT AFTERWARDS) ALL WITNESSES INCLUDING POLICE, TOW TRUCK, AND INSURANCE COMPANY SAY AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. THE CAR IS SCHEDULED FOR REPAIRS AND WE ARE TERRIFIED TO GET IT BACK IN REPAIRED CONDITION. WE DO NOT WISH TO ENDANGER THE LIVES OF OUR FAMILY AND GM IS NOT REPLYING. DT

Front passenger seatbelt has always locked up after being put on, which does not allow the passenger the ability to move more than a couple of inches at best.
