I LIVE IN FLORIDA- IT WAS APPROX 8 AM, SITTING OUTSIDE DRINKING COFFEE ON MY PORCH. VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED SINCE PRIOR AFTERNOON AND WAS LOCKED (ALARM ENGAGED). SUDDENLY, MY REAR WINDOW SPONTANEOUSLY 'EXPLODED'. THERE WAS GLASS EVERYWHERE BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER RESEARCHING WHAT COULD'VE CAUSED SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO HAPPEN, THERE ARE INNUMERABLE REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO OTHER GMC OWNERS WITHOUT ANY PLAUSIBLE EXPLANATION. THIS IS A VERY CONCERNING ISSUE AS GLASS FLEW EVERYWHERE IN AND AROUND MY VEHICLE AND IT IS BY PURE LUCK THAT MY 15 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND USUALLY AT LEAST 1-2 OF HER FRIENDS, ALONG WITH MY ONE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, WHO NATURALLY, IS IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. MYSELF OR ANYONE ELSE MERELY WALKING BY THE VEHICLE COULD'VE BEEN INJURED JUST WALKING BY. HAD SOMEONE BEEN NEAR MY VEHICLE IN A PUBLIC PLACE, I.E. GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT, ETC. THEY COULD'VE BEEN INJURED BY THE SHARDS OF GLASS THAT SHOT OUT AND LANDED 4+ FEET FROM THE VEHICLE, LEAVING ME AT RISK OF FURTHER CIVIL ACTIO AND POSSIBLE SUIT. I AM ALSO A PROTECTIVE INVESTIGATOR FOR THE STATE OF FLORIDA AND OFTEN TIMES HAVE OTHER CHILDREN IN MY VEHICLE. THIS IS BOTH A HUGE CIVIL, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, SAFETY CONCERN. THIS IS NOT OKAY AND IS NOT A FLUKE INCIDENT BASED UPON SO MANY REPORTED INCIDENTS FROM SO MANY OTHER GMC OWNERS. GMC REFUSES TO HELP. A RECALL ON THESE REAR WINDSHIELDS ARE A MUST AND I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT ONE IS NOT BEEN ISSUED IN ALL OF THE YEARS THAT THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO PEOPLE. THIS IS NOT OKAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD AS THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR TAILGATE GLASS SHATTERED. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT REMEMBERED THAT THE REAR DEFOGGER WAS TURNED ON; HOWEVER, SHE WAS UNSURE IF IT WAS ON AT THE TIME THE GLASS SHATTERED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE REAR TAILGATE GLASS WAS REPLACED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 225,000.
THE BACK GLASS LEFT SIDE HINGE SEPARATED FROM THE GLASS AND BROKE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. THE GLASS COULD HAVE COME OFF FROM SUCTION AND HURT SOMEONE. THERE IS A RECALL OUT FOR OTHER GMC SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES BUT NOT FOR THIS VIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER OF THE VEHICLE WAS RUSTED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE PAINT ON THAT FENDER WAS BUBBLING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,832.

THE REAR HINGE ON THE LFT GLASS CAME AWAY FROM THE GLASS, LEAVING THE REAR WINDOW UNSAFE. FORTUNATELY I NOTICED AND HAD IT REPAIRED (REPLACED) BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED. *TR
WHEN IT RAINS WATER LEAKS IN THROUGH THE SUNROOF. *TR
THE HINGE HOLDING THE REAR WINDOW TO THE LIFTGATE IS PULLING AWAY FROM THE GLASS. I AM AFRAID THAT THE WINDOW IS GOING TO FALL OFF OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE WINDOW HAS SHIFTED FROM ITS INTENDED POSITION SO THAT WHENEVER I OPEN THE LIFTGATE, THE TOP OF THE WINDOW CATCHES ON THE TOP OF THE BODY. *JB
THE WINDOW HINGE ON THE REAR WINDOW OF MY 2003 GMC YUKON BECAME DISCONNECTED FROM THE WINDOW. THIS HAS BEEN USED VERY RARELY, AND THE VEHICLE IS ALWAYS GARAGED. IT SEEMS LIKE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT, OR DESIGN FLAW...NOT SOMETHING THAT FAILED BECAUSE OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. WITHOUT REPAIR, THIS COULD LEAD TO WINDOW SEPARATION AND HARM TO OTHER VEHICLES FOLLOWING ME ON THE HIGHWAY. *JB

THERE ARE SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH MY 2003 YUKON DENALI. FIRST, THE DASH TRIM IS CREAKY AND MAKES ALOT OF NOISE. THE AIR CONDITIONER IS NOT VERY COLD. WHEN I BREAK AND SLIGHTLY RELEASE I GET THIS MOANING LIKE NOISE FROM UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK. FINALLY, ON ONE OF THE RUNNING BOARDS THE PAINT IS PEALING OFF. I AM NOT VERY PLEASED BY ALL THESE DEFECTS, ESPECIALLY FROM A 50,000 DOLLAR TRUCK.*AK
MY NEW 2003 YUKON XL HAS AN ABSOLUTELY INTOLERABLE CAB REVERBERATION PROBLEM ! THIS DEFECT CAUSES THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS A THUMPING EAR PAIN ! I LITERALLY CANNOT DRIVE 1 BLOCK WITHOUT A THUMPING SENSATION IN MY EARS. THIS VEHICLE WAS LEFT AT THE DEALER FOR 4 DAYS, ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM ! OF COURSE, I WAS NOT SATISFIED ! THIS VEHICLE WAS ONLY TWO WEEKS OLD ! I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO LIVE WITH THIS UNTIL THE GM ENGINEERS COULD FIND A FIX. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THIS WAS NOT HIGH ON THE LIST OF PROBLEMS TO SOLVE ! THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO HELP ME AT ALL. THE SALES DEPARTMENT WOULD NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK. I CALLED GM WHO HAS SENT ME TO ONE DEPARTMENT AFTER ANOTHER FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS. STILL NO RESOLUTION! UPON NOTIFYING GM THAT I NEEDED TO SEEK A DOCTORS CARE FOR THE UNBEARABLE EAR PAIN WHEN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, I WAS SENT TO THE DEPARTMENT FOR COMPLAINT ALLEGATIONS. THIS DEPARTMENT SIMPLY WANTED TO ACCESS THEIR RISKS OF LOSS ! STILL NOTHING RESOLVED. I HAVE ASKED GM TO SIMPLY " DO THE RIGHT THING ". I DON'T THINK THAT THIS ISSUE SHOULD COME DOWN TO ANY TYPE OF LAW SUIT. HOWEVER, IT APPEARS AT THIS POINT, THAT A LAW SUIT MAY INDEED BE THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE MATTER RESOLVED. I PROPOSE TO THE NHTSA THAT THIS DEFECT ( IN ALL 2003 SUBURBAN AND YUKON XL MODELS ) SHOULD WARRANT AN INVESTIGATION AS TO POSSIBLE RECALL. AS YOU CAN TELL, I AM VERY UPSET AT THE POOR QUALITY OF CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE RECEIVED FROM BROWN AND WOOD DEALERSHIP IN GREENEVILLE, NC AND GM. IT APPEARS THAT NEITHER PARTY WISHES TO BE RESPONSIBLE. CYNDI BOWEN . *NLM
