THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON AND OFF IN MY VEHICLE. WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP IN MAY AND JUNE AND AGAIN IN NOVEMBER. THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DETECT PROBLEM. GM HAS SPOKE WITH MYSELF AND THE DEALERSHIP. GM HAS TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO, IF THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE PROBLEM IS THAT IS GOES ON AND OFF AT DIFFERENT TIMES AND THERE IS NO PATTERN TO IT. IT DIDN'T COME ON FOR 3 MONTHS AND IS NOW COMING ON AGAIN. I HAVE CONTACTED ON-STAR WHEN IT COMES ON AT TIMES AND THEY HAVE INFORMED ME THAT THE AIR BAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY PROPERLY. I AM WORRIED THAT THE AIR BAGS WILL GO OFF WHEN I'M JUST DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I HAVE 2 CHILDREN AND DO NOT FEEL THAT IT IS SAFE FOR THEM, MYSELF, OR THE OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. I AM HIGHLY DISCOURAGED THAT GM IS NOT BEING MORE ACTIVE IN TRYING TO HELP WITH THIS SITUATION THAT COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH! *NM
THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING IS A HORRIBLE BUBBLING OR GARGLING SOUND EMMITING FROM MY 2004 YUKON EXHAUST. IT SOUNDS REALLY BAD, ENOUGH TO TURN PEOPLES HEADS WHILE I'M SITTING AT THE CONVENEIENCE STORE OR A DRIVE THRU. THE DEALER IN WHICH I BOUGHT IT FROM STATES THAT THEY ALL MAKE THIS SOUND, BUT I'M NOT STUPID. I KNOW OTHERS WITH THE SAME MAKE AND YEAR MODEL AND THEY DO NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I JUST WANT IT FIXED. IF I'M WILLING TO PAY $44,000 FOR A VEHICLE I EXPECT IT TO LOOK AND SOUND GREAT OR AT LEAST LOOK AND SOUND LIKE A NEW ONE. PLEASE HELP! *AK
BRAKE PEDAL EFFORT IS EXCESSIVE, RESULTING IN SEVERAL NEAR MISSES DUE TO INABILITY TO STOP RAPIDLY. HAVE NOTIFIED DEALER(S) SEVERAL TIMES, AND THEY HAVE STATED THAT BRAKES WERE OKAY. I PERSONALLY FEEL THAT BRAKE PADS AND/OR ROTORS WERE TOO SMALL FOR WEIGHT OF THE TRUCK.*AK
WHILE RESTRAINED THE CHILD WAS ABLE TO REACH THE STANDARD SAFETY BELT AND WRAP IT AROUND HIS/HER NECK TWICE. THE RETRACTOR LOCKED THE BELT STRANGLING THE CHILD. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO REMOVE CHILD FROM THE BELT BEFORE BEING STRANGLED TO DEATH. *AK *JB *NM
WHILE DRIVING, THE DRIVER'S POWER SIDE SEAT BEGINS TO MOVE FORWARD. THE DEALER STATES THERE WAS NO SOLUTION AT THIS TIME. *AK THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON TWELVE OCCASIONS. THE DRIVER'S SEAT MEMORY SWITCH WAS INOPERATIVE, THERE WAS NOISE AT IDLE AND WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED, THE SATELLITE RADIO WOULD LOSE FREQUENCY, THE SEAM ON THE DRIVERS SEAT MATERIAL WAS WEARING AND THE HORN WAS DELAYED. *SC *JB
I PURCHASED A NEW 2004 YUKON XL DENALI ,AT TIMES THE REAR HEATER WILL NOT WORK , THE FAN WILL BLOW BUT ONLY COLD AIR. AT OTHER TIMES YOU CAN TURN THE ENTIRE AC/HEAT UNIT OFF IN THE FRONT AND IT WILL CONTINUE TO BLOW FROM THE VENTS, I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FROM THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM, THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO UNTIL GM ISSUES A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. *AK
SINCE GETTING THIS CAR IN 2005, MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE EXPERIENCED REDUCED ENGINE POWER. WHETHER GOING 40MPH ON A 2 LANE ROAD OR 70 ON THE INTERSTATE, THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. WE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE "FIXED" TWICE, SPENT ABOUT $1000 ON 2 SEPARATE "REPAIRS," YET THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW SCARY IT IS TO BE GOING WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AND THEN HAVE YOUR ENGINE POWER REDUCED. TO BE GOING 70 AND THEN FORCED BELOW 70 IS DANGEROUS. WE COULD HAVE BEEN HIT AND KILLED TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND PASS SOMEONE. THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED. I KNOW NUMEROUS GM OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM ACROSS NUMEROUS VEHICLES. WHY HAVEN'T YOU FORCED THEM TO FIX IT? IS IT BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT BAILED THEM OUT, AND IT WOULD BE DETRIMENTAL TO THE ECONOMY? SAFETY AND RELIABILITY ON ROADWAYS SHOULD BE IMPORTANT, TOO. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2004 YUKON XL ON 10-19-04 AND I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLES AIR BAG SYSTEM EVER SINCE. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN ON AT LEAST 12 OCCASIONS, WITH REPEAT VISITS FOR SAME PROBLEM USUALLY THE SAME DAY. MY CAR HAS GIVEN OFF NUMEROUS CODES WHICH INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: B0026, B0040, B0041, B0043, B2470, B0229, B3770. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO 3 SEPARATE DEALERSHIPS WHERE THEY HAVE REPLACED HARNESSES, WIRES, CONNECTORS ETC. NONE OF THIS SEEMS TO HAVE WORKED. I HAVE FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS ALSO HAVE HAD NY HORN BLOWING INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE CALLED ONSTAR TO PERFORM DIAGNOSTICS ON MY VEHICLE AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THE CAR HAS NUMEROUS CODES COMING UP, AND THAT I SHOULD NOT DRIVE MY VEHICLE UNTIL CORRECTED, BECAUSE THE AIR BAG MAY DEPLOY ON ITS OWN OR IT MAY NOT DEPLOY IF MY CAR IS WRECKED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY CAR, BUT I DO NOT HAVE ANY OTHER CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE AN EXTRA $40,000 TO BUY A NEW ONE. I HAVE EXPLAINED ALL OF THIS TO GMC'S ARBITRATION DEPARTMENT, BUT THEY HAVE SENT ME SEVERAL LETTERS STATING THAT THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO BUY MY CAR BACK. MY FAMILY'S LIVES ARE NOT REPLACEABLE, AND I WORRY EVERY TIME I GET IN THE VEHICLE THAT SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN, AND THIS IS HORRIBLE FEELING FOR A MOTHER, WHOSE JOB IS TO PROTECT HER CHILDREN. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO SAY THAT I FEEL VERY SORRY FOR THE INDIVIDUAL DEALERSHIPS, BECAUSE THEY HAVE ALL GONE OUT OF THEIR WAY TO TRY AND FIX THESE PROBLEMS, BUT ALL HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL. IT IS NOT THE DEALERSHIPS FAULT, IT IS THE MANUFACTURER OF THE VEHICLE. I TRULY BELIEVE AS MY KIDS HAVE SAID THAT THIS VEHICLE IS TRULY POSSESSED, AND IN MY OPINION NOT FIXABLE. *NM
WE PURCHASED A 2004 GMC YUKON XL IN SEPTEMBER ON 2004. THE VEHICLE HAD A RECALL NOTICE ON THE TRANSMISSION AND THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT PREFORM THE REPAIR. IN ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 27TH, 2004 THE TRANSMISSION BLEW AND THE VEHICLE WAS SENT TO A DEALERSHIP LOCALLY, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ON THE BRAND NEW SUBURBAN, MY CONCERN IS THAT THE DEALERSHIP AND GM HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO REPLACE THE PROBLEM PRIOR TO SELLING THE VEHICLE AND THE FACT THAT THEY SOLD THE VEHICLE KNOWING THE PROBLEM EXISTED AND DID NOTHING ABOUT IT SCARES ME. WE RUN A TRANSPORTATION COMPANY IN THE MTNS OF COLORADO, HAD THAT TRANSMISSION FAILED ON ONE OF THE PASSES WE COULD HAVE KILLED SEVERAL PEOPLE. THE DEALERSHIPS RESPONSE WAS "WELL THAT DID NOT HAPPEN DID IT" FROM RICK DUNCANS OWN MOUTH. WE HAVE DECIDED TO FILE A LAWSUITE AGAINST THE DEALERSHIP AND GM DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS FAILURE IN VEHICLE EQUIPMENT. *AK
I HAVE THREE SEPARATE COMPLAINTS: 1) IN DECEMBER 2004 I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THEN SUDDENLY THERE WAS A LOUD CRASHING SOUND THAT CAME FROM UNDERNEATH OF THE HOOD OF MY YUKON. IT WAS APPARENT THAT SOMETHING CAME APART FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD BECAUSE WHEN I LOOKED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, AND THEN PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY; THERE WAS NOTHING VISIBLE IN ANY OF THE FREEWAY LANES WHICH WOULD INDICATE THAT I RAN OVER SOMETHING. WHATEVER CAME APART, YOU COULD HEAR IT BEING DRUG FROM THE FRONT, ALL THE WAY TO THE REAR OF THE TRUCK. IT TORE THE ENTIRE LEFT FENDER WELL APART, IT CUT A WHOLE INTO MY LEFT CUSTOM TIRE, AND IT CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE , ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. MY HUSBAND TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE NEAREST GMC DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM, AND THE SERVICE PERSON TOLD HIM THAT WE WOULD BE CHARGED FOR THEM TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. MY HUSBAND WAS ALSO TOLD THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO ENDURE THE COST TO HAVE THE LEFT REAR FENDER WELL THAT WAS DAMAGED FROM THIS INCIDENT. (2) IN MARCH 2005 MY YUKON'S DIGITAL READING KEPT STATING SERVICE AIR BAG. ALSO, IT DISPLAYED THE PICTURE OF A PERSON IN THE SEAT WITH THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS WITH A VEHICLE THAT IS FAIRLY NEW, THAT HAS ONLY 18,007 MILES ON IT. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FOR SAFETY PURPOSES, AND NOW I HAVE TO DEAL WITH DEFECTS THAT THE DEALER IS NOT WILLING REPAIR AT NO COST TO ME. (3) THE TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTING GEARS VERY ROUGHLY, AND AT TIMES WHEN IT IS PLACED INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE IT JERKS VERY HARD, AND OTHER TIMES WHEN PROCEEDING TO DRIVE IT DRAGS AS IF IT HAS NO POWER. *AK
INSTRUMENT PANEL SOMETIMES WORKS AND SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI XL. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE, THE TIRE SERVICE MONITOR INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THERE WAS NO FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WERE UNAWARE OF HOW TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER COULD ALSO NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
THE REAR HATCH OF OUR DENALI WORKS ITSELF OPEN. WE SHUT IT SUFFICIENTLY HARD, AND IN TIME, DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE WARNING LIGHTS OVERHEAD AND ON THE DASH BOARD COME ON TELLING US THAT THE REAR HATCH IS OPEN. WE HAVE TO STOP TO OPEN AND RESHUT IT. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME BUT HAS BEEN CONSISTENT SINCE WE PURCHASED IT. *NM
ONE SIDE OF ENGINE BLOCK IS BURNING OUT ALL 4 SPARK PLUGS; NEED DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION SENT TO OUR MECHANIC SO HE CAN FIX THIS PROBLEM. NO RESPONSE. ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. TOTAL MILEAGE ON 2004 YUKON LL PURCHASED FROM DAVE SMITH AUTO, KELLOG IDAHO IN NOV OF 2004 IS 1,292. YES, THIS IS CORRECT. ONE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED AND NINETY TWO MILES! I WOULD THINK GMC OR DAVE SMITH WOULD BE INTERESTED IN FIXING THIS PROBLEM ESPECIALLY WITH A NEW VEHICLE. WAITING FOR THEM TO REPLY TO WARRANTY WORK. WE ARE A REMOTE SITE WOMEN'S SHELTER. WE NEED A VEHICLE THAT RUNS! *JB
2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUED TO GO ON BUT THERE NEVER SEEMED TO BE A PROBLEM WITH IT. *CW THE DEALER STATED THE PROBLEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, HOWEVER GMC DENIED ANY RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD OVER 100,000 MILES. *JB
DURING NORMAL DRIVING, BRAKE PEDAL WILL SOMETIMES GO TO THE FLOOR WHEN ATTEMPING TO STOP, AND VEHICLE WILL NOT SLOW DOWN AT ALL. AFTER SECOND ATTEMPT, BRAKES START WORKING AGAIN. NO ERRORS REPORTED BY VEHICLE COMPUTER. WE HAVE ALREADY HIT A MAILBOX TRYING TO AVOID A CRASH, AND ALMOST ROLLED OVER ANOTHER TIME DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO SLOW DOWN IN TIME. TWO GM DEALERS HAVE FOUND NO PROBLEMS, AND WE HAVE BEEN TOLD TO NOT BRING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THEM AS THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. PROBLEM HAPPENS APPROX. EVERY 5 WEEKS, NO CONSISTENCY OR EVENTS LEADING UP TO BRAKE LOSS.

WHILE PARKED THE REAR GLASS WINDOW EXPLODED. *AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SEAT RADIO FUNCTION WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. THE CONTACT NOTICED THE CONSOLE WAS EXTREMELY HOT. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS NOT PERFORMED. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE DAYTIME RUNNING HEADLIGHT BULB WAS REPLACED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. THE CONTACT NOTICED THE LIGHT BULBS THAT WERE REMOVED WERE BLACK AND APPEARED MELTED ON THE BOTTOM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE RADIO FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60.
9-28-04: MY 2004 GMC YUKON HAD 22643 MILES ON IT. I WENT TO GET IN THE CAR THAT MORNING TO START IT UP AND IT WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. MECHANIC STATED THAT MY FUEL PUMP HAD WENT OUT. I WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL PUMPS ON THESE VEHICLES WERE FAULTY. THEY REPLACED MY FUEL PUMP. 5-24-05: MY YUKON HAD 50012 MILES ON IT. I GOT IN THE VEHICLE THAT MORNING TO START IT AND IT WOULD NOT START. ONCE AGAIN IT HAD TO BE TOWED INTO THE DEALERSHIP. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT MY FUEL PUMP WENT OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THIS TIME IT COST US APPROXIMATELY $900.00 TO REPAIR. THEY INFORMED US THAT THE NEWEST FUEL PUMP HAD A LIFETIME WARRANTY AND IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN WE WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. WHEN MY HUSBAND ASKED WHY THE 2ND FUEL PUMP THEY PUT ON DID NOT HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY, WE WERE TOLD THAT GM DOESN'T WARRANTY ANY WARRANTY PARTS. BOTH TIMES THIS HAPPENED I WAS STRANDED WITH MY 3 YOUNG CHILDREN. EACH TIME THEY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMPS BUT THEY CANNOT TELL ME WHY MY FUEL PUMPS SEEM TO QUIT APPROXIMATELY EVERY 25000 MILES. I HAVE CONTACTED GM AND THEY CAN'T GIVE ME ANY ANSWERS EITHER. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO GET THEM TO REPURCHASE MY VEHICLE.
DT: TRANSMISSION; WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGES AND HITS THE GAS IT FALLS OUT OF GEAR, AND THEN IT MAKES A NOISE WHEN IT GOES BACK INTO GEAR. CALLER DOES NOT DO ANYTHING BUT TAKE HIS FOOT OFF BRAKE AND ONTO GAS PEDAL. IT DOES NOT DO IT ALL THE TIME, BUT HE DOES NOT KNOW WHEN ITS GOING TO HAPPEN. DEALER SAYS IF THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM THEY CAN'T FIX IT. SO THEY SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM. MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED, AND THEY DID NOT RETURN CALL. CONSUMER CALLED THEM AGAIN, AND THEY SENT A SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE. HE SAID IF THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM THEY CAN'T FIX IT. ALSO THE AIR BAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND OFF.*AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER BY COASTING THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER. THEN VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER TRIED TO RESTART VEHICLE BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. THEN, NOTICED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL SMOKE WAS COMING FROM IT. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
SPARE TIRE HAS A NEW SECURITY DEVICE NOT AS DESCRIBED IN MANUAL. I HAD A FLAT IN HORRIBLE CONDITIONS AND COULD NOT THE SPARE OFF THE WINCH. GMC REFUSED TO CORRECT ALL MANUALS.*AK
AFTER ENGINE IS WARMED UP, USUALLY AFTER DRIVING JUST A FEW MILES, THERE IS A LOUD BANGING NOISE THAT APPEARS TO BE COMING FROM THE MUFFLER. IT HAPPENS APPROX EVERY 8-12 SECONDS WITH THE TRUCK RUNNING OR OFF. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY DIDN'T HEAR IT, ALTHOUGH THE SALES MANAGER THAT SOLD ME THE VEHICLE HEARD IT. THEY SAID TO BRING IT BACK LATER AND THAT THERE IS A BULLETIN OUT ON IT BUT GMC HAS NOT RELEASED THE PARTS SO THEY CAN'T FIX IT EVEN IF THEY DID HEAR IT. WHEN I AM SITTING NEXT TO ANOTHER VEHICLE, FOR EXAMPLE AT A LIGHT, IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS HITTING THEIR VEHICLE AND IS COMING FROM MINE. WITH ROAD RAGE BEING WHAT IT IS THESE DAYS I AM AFRAID THAT SOMEONE WILL NOT UNDERSTAND THAT GMC HAS "NOT RELEASED THE PARTS" TO FIX IT.*AK
FAILURE TO START ENGINE. OVER LAST 6 MONTHS, INTERMITTENT NON-STARTING WHEN KEY IS TURNED IN IGNITION. ALL LIGHTS AND INTERNAL EQUIPMENT (RADIO, HEATER) ALL COME ON BUT ENGINE DOES NOT MAKE ANY NOISE. THERE IS NO PATTERN (FULL LOG OF ISSUES AVAILABLE BY OWNER). VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN TWO DEALERSHIPS FOR DIAGNOSIS AND PROBLEM CAN NOT BE IDENTIFIED.SOME DAYS THE CAR WILL START AFTER 1 OR 2 TRIES, OTHER DAYS I HAVE WAITED UP TO 20 MINUTES WITH 45 - 50 ATTEMPTS TO START.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY CAR HAS COMPLETELY DIED THREE TIMES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE FIRST TIME WAS JULY 2004, THE SECOND TIME WAS EARLY OCT 2005 AND THE LAST TIME WAS JAN 19, 05. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THREE DIFFERENT STATES AT THREE VERY DIFFERENT ALTITUDES. WHEN THE CAR DIES I HAVE NO BRAKES, POWER STEERING OR ANYTHING ELSE FOR THAT MATTER. THE CAR WILL RESTART AFTER A WHILE. THE FIRST TIME IT DIED, I THOUGHT I WAS GOING OFF A CLIFF ON A PASS. THE LAST TWO TIMES WERE ON BUSY INTERSTATES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO CANNOT FIX IT. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC DURING THIS ENTIRE PERIOD OF EPISODES, NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY ARE VERY NICE BUT IT IS ONLY LIP SERVICE. I FINALLY GOT MY HANDS ON A GMC SERVICE BULLETIN DOCUMENT ID#1530787. IT DESCRIBES MY PROBLEMS EXACTLY. IT PARROTS WHAT I HAVE TOLD THE DEALERSHIP EVERY TIME I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN. I LIKE MY CAR AND JUST WANT IT FIXED. THIS VEHICLE JUST QUITS RUNNING BY ITSELF AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THEN YOU CANNOT CONTROL THE BRAKES, STEERING OR ENGINE. I REPORTED THIS TO ODI IN MARCH OF 2006 CONFIRMATION #10153178. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN TO GMC DEALERS TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE MANY TIMES AND EACH TIME I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE MY PROBLEM. EXHAUST SYSTEM ON MY NEW 04 YUKON DENALI HAS AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF POPPING AND CRACKING NOISE AFTER IT IS TURNED OFF. I HAD AN 03 DENALI PRIOR TO THIS AND IT DID NOT DO THIS. THIS HAS GONE ON SINCE I GOT THE VEHICLE. DEALER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT.*AK
IN MY 2004 YUKON DENALI THE STEERING WHEEL PUMP WENT UP. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON MAY 8, 2004 AND TO MY DISCOVERY THE FAILURE OCCURED ON JUNE 26, 2004. WHILE DRIVING I NOTICED A LOUD HUMMING SOUND COMING FROM THE TRUCK. IT WAS NOTICEABLE WHEN I DEPRESSED THE GAS PETAL AND ALSO WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. I CONTACTED ONSTAR TO PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC OF THE VEHICLE IN HOPES THEY COULD DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. ONSTAR WAS ABLE TO ASSESS MY TRUCK AND INFORMED ME THAT NOTHING WAS MALFUNCTIONED ELECTRICALLY WHICH INDICATED A MANUAL DYSFUNCTION. FOR A MATTER OF THIS MAGNITUDE TO HAVE GONE WRONG IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, LEADS ONE TO BELIEVE THAT THE DEALERSHIP SOLD ME A LEMON OR DID NOT PERFORM A THOROUGH ASSESSMENT OF THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO SELLING IT TO ME. ON THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY, JUNE 28, 2004, I DROVE MY TRUCK INTO THE SERVICE CENTER, ANDERSON AUTOMOTIVE OF HUNT VALLEY MARYLAND FROM WHICH IT WAS PURCHASED. TO BEGIN WITH, WHEN I RESEARCHED AND CHOOSE THE SUV OF MY LIKING, I WENT TO ANDERSON AUTOMOTIVE OF HUNT VALLEY AND TEST DROVE THE TRUCK I WANTED. THE STOCK NUMBER OF THE TEST DRIVEN VEHICLE WAS 4J269973. THE DEALER ASSURED ME THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND WOULD NOT BE SOLD TO ANYONE AND WAS ON HOLD FOR ME. AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, THE STOCK NUMBER OF THE VEHICLE SOLD TO ME WAS 4J195367 (A CLEAR MISMATCH FROM THE ONE I TEST DROVE). MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS DEALER INTENTIONALLY SWITCHED AND SOLD TO ME A FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLAR DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. THIS INCIDENT HAS RAISED RED FLAGS IN MY TRUST WITH THIS DEALERSHIP AND THEIR CONSUMER PRACTICES. WHEN MY 2004 GMC YUKON WARMS UP, A LOUD REPETITIVE CLANGING NOISE EMINATES FROM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THIS CAN BE HEARD WHILE DRIVING AND CONTINUES FOR A PERIOD AFTER THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. THE YUKON WAS PURCHASED NEW ON 5/31/04 AND BEGAN MAKING THE NOISE WITHIN 500 MILES. GMC SAYS ENGINEERING HAS BEEN WORKING ON THE PROBLEM SINCE 11/03 AND IT INVOLVES METAL IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM BEING DEFORMED BY THE HEAT. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH SEVERAL OTHER YUKON OWNERS AND MADE A POINT TO LISTEN TO OTHER YUKONS ON THE ROAD AND HAVE NOT FOUND ANOTHER YUKON EXHIBITING THE SAME PROBLEM. GMC REFUSES TO REPLACE THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. IF THE METAL IS DEFORMED, HOW DO I KNOW THAT IT IS NOT LEAKING FUMES INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT?
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS TO BE PUSHED VERY HARD TO GET DECELERATION TO OCCUR. WHEN I HAD TO STOP QUICKLY AFTER GOING 65 MPH I ALMOST HIT THE ARK HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT DUE TO THE LACK OF CONTROL OF STOPPING. *AK
DT: CONTACT STATES WHILE RIDING AS A PASSENGER IN FRONT OR BACK WHEN MOVING FORWARD OR THE BRAKES ARE PRESSED THE SEAT BELT WILL LOCK AND WILL NOT RELEASE. UNTIL THE SEAT BELT IS RELEASED THE OCCUPANT MOVES TRYING TO RELEASE THE TENSION. THIS CAUSES THE TENSION TO KEEP GETTING TIGHTER. THE ONLY WAY TO RELEASE THE TENSION IN THE SEATBELT IS TO UNLATCH THE SEAT BELT. THE SERVICE DEALER STATED THE SEAT BELTS WERE WORKING PROPERLY. IT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SERVICE DEALER, THEY STATED THIS WAS A DESIGN FAILURE AND THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DO ABOUT IT. THE CONSUMER HAS NOT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. *AK
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND WITHOUT WARNING CONSUMER'S VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR EXAMINATION. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE CHECKING THE AIR PRESSURE FOR THE TIRES OF A NEW PURCHASED VEHICLE CONSUMER NOTICED THE PRESSURE WAS 44 POUNDS. THE STANDARD AIR PRESSURE SHOULD BE 32 POUNDS IN THE DOOR PANEL. ALSO, FIRESTONE RECOMMENDED 32 POUNDS. *AK GM SUGGESTED THAT A 17 INCH TIRE WOULD BE A TIGHT FIT IN THE SPARE CAVITY, WHICH WERE HE SIZE ON THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE. THERE WAS MALFUNCTION IN THE POWER TRAIN DRIVELINE, WHICH RESULTED*JB IN THE TRUCK SHIFTING FROM 2WD TO 4WD BY ITSELF. THE DEALERSHIP HAS SERVICED THE TRUCK 3 TIMES AND REPLACED THE 4WD SWITCH AND THE TRANSFER CASE. THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. *JB

I JUST BOUGHT A NEW 2004 GMC YUKON, 2WD. MILES ON IT WAS 188. AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, I DROVE IT HOME WHICH IS ABOUT 10-15 MILES AWAY. AS I GET CLOSE TO HOME, THE BELL IN THE CAR STARTS TO CHIME, THE ROOF LIGHTS TURN ON, AND ACROSS THE ODEMETER READER, IT READS "PASSENGER DOOR AJAR". I PARKED MY CAR AND HAD HIM SHUT THE DOOR AGAIN. AS I DROVE OFF, THE BELL CHIMES, THE LIGHTS ARE STILL ON, AND IT STILL READS "PASSENGER DOOR AJAR". SO I GET OUT AND OPEN AND CLOSE ALL THE DOORS INCLUDING THE TRUNK. SAME PROBLEM. THIS GOES ON EVEN AFTER I GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP. TOLD THE SALES MANAGER THE PROBLEM. HE SAW IT FOR HIMSELF AND TOLD ME TO BRING IT TO THE MECHANICS. WENT TO THE MECHANICS AND THREE OF THEM SAW THE PROBLEM. ONE OF THEM RECOGNIZED IT AND TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A WIRE LOOSE ON THE PASSENGER DOOR. HE CALLED IT AN "AUSCHUWAITER" (SP?). HE SAID HE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE DOOR APART. THE MANGER CALLED IT A "SIMPLE SITUATION" AND THIS IS WHAT I REPLIED, "IT'S NOT "SIMPLE" WHAT IF I HAD DECIDED TO TAKE THAT DRIVE WITH MY 9 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND THE PROBLEM OCCURS. AND IN THE EXCITEMENT, WHILE I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO, SHE UN-BUCKLES HER SEATBELT AND OPENS THE DOOR, FALLS OUT INTO THE FREEWAY, I PANIC AND LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR. WE CAUSE THIS HUGE TRAFFIC ACCIDENT WITH FATALITIES, MY DAUGHTER COUNTED." MANAGER TOLD ME, IT'S A BIG CAR WITH 100,000 PARTS. NOT ALL OF THEM ARE GOING TO BE PERFECT. 1/5000 WAS HIS ESTIMATE, PROBLEMATIC WISE. THE MECHANIC SAID HE HAD SEEN THIS MANY TIMES ON A GMC, BUT I DID NOT SEE ANY COMPLAINTS FILED SO HERE'S MINE. IT'S JUST BEEN A DAY AFTER I GOT IT REPAIRED BECAUSE THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PART IN ORDER TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WE'LL SEE HOW IT HANDLES NOW.
