I HAVE NOTICED SEVERAL TIMES THAT MY SPEEDOMETER WILL STICK OR STOP WORKING ALL TOGETHER. AFTER SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, I SEE THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR CHEVROLET AND GMC TRUCKS AND LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS. *NM
SPEEDOMETER SHOWS OVER 120 MPH WHEN PARKED AND WHILE DRIVING, OIL GAUGE DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY EITHER, HAPPENED RIGHT AROUND 40,000 MILES, TWO FRIENDS OF MINE PURCHASED THE 2004 ENVOY AND HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, ALL VEHICLES WERE PURCHASED FROM THE SAME DEALERSHIP JUST A FEW MONTHS APART. *AK
I HAVE A 2004 GMC YUKON. THE SPEEDOMETER IS MALFUNCTIONING ,IT DISPLAYS INCORRECT ERRATIC SPEEDS, MAXING OUT AT 40 MPH NO MATTER HOW FAST I AM DRIVING. RECENTLY ON A LOCAL FREEWAY I ALMOST HAD A ACCIDENT WHEN THE TRAFFIC SLOWED AHEAD AND I THOUGHT I WAS GOING 30 MPH BUT MY ACTUAL SPEED WAS ABOUT 65. IT NEARLY KILLED ME. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC BUT HAVE NOT HAD ANSWER TO THIS PROBLEM.
IT IS FUNNY WE HAVE HAD TWO GMC YUKON XL IN OUR FAMILY AND THE SPEEDODIMETER HAS STOP WORKING IN BOTH. THERE MUST BE A PROBLEM WITH THESES. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE IS A RECALL AND WHY NOT? IT SEEMS FROM WHAT WE WERE TOLD AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM. IT HAPPENS WHEN THE CARS JUST GO OUT OF WARRANTY.
WHILE DRIVING, THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2004 GMC YUKON XL DENALI FAILS. IT WILL EITHER READ 0 - 5, OR 70-100. I CAN'T TELL HOW FAST/SLOW I AM GOING. WHEN CALLING THE DEALER, I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, AND WILL COST $500 - 700!!! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND AFTER RESEARCHING, HAVE FOUND OUT THAT MANY, MANY, MANY PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS... PLEASE FORCE A RECALL? SPEEDOMETER VERY ERRATIC. *NM
SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2004 GMC YUKON BECAME VERY ERRATIC, DISPLAYING SPEEDS THAT WERE OBVIOUSLY WAY TOO SLOW OR WAY TO FAST THAN WHAT THE VEHICLE WAS ACTUALLY TRAVELING. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS I CANNOT TELL HOW FAST THE VEHICLE IS GOING. GM SHOULD CONDUCT A RECALL AS THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. *JB
SPEEDOMTER IS BROKEN, BEGAN READING ERRATIC HIGHS SPEEDS, NOW PEGGEG OUT ABOVE 120 MPH AND DOES NOT MOVE. OCCASIONALLY MAKES A SLIGHT CLICKING SOUND. *NM
THE GAUGES IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STOP WORKING. FIRST THE SPEEDOMETER THEN THE TACHOMETER, AND NOW THE AMP METER. ON GOING PROBLEM. DEFINATELY A SAFETY CONCERN BUT NO ONE WANTS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. THE DEALER WANTS 600.00 DOLLARS TO REPAIR IR BUT DOES NOT GUARANTEE IT WILL BE THE FIX. OTHER VEHICALS OF THIS YEAR AND MODEL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE GETTING AN OIL CHANGE, IT WAS NOTICED THE BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW. THE DEALER DETERMINED THE REAR ROTORS AND PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. UPDATED 12/1/2006 - THE REAR BRAKE WERE WORN, PITTED, AND RUSTED. *NM
WHILE TOWING OUR BOAT IN HOT WEATHER THE ENGINE STALLS/KILLS LEAVING THE VEHICLE WITH NO POWER STEERING/BRAKES ETC. DEALER CANNOT REPLICATE FAILURE, GM HAS NO FIX HAS KILLED 8 TIMES OVER 3 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. I WANT A FIX. *JB
VEHICLE HAS PULLED STRONGLY TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT ALMOST CAUSING ONE SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH 4 CHILDREN INSIDE. VEHICLE HAS HAD CHRONIC FRONT END ALIGNMENT/SUSPENSION FAILURES. A TOTAL OF 4 ALIGNMENTS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED AND A 5TH IS NEEDED. VEHICLE HAS 24,000 MILES AND NEEDS A NEW SET OF TIRES. UNUSUAL WEAR CONTINUES ON THE INNER FRONT TIRE TREAD AND THE UNEVENLY WORE TREAD IS BEVELED. GM REFUSES TO ADMIT THERE IS ANY PROBLEM. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE SHIELD ASSEMBLY WAS BROKEN. THE PULL DOWN BAR THAT CONNECTED TO THE CAR SEAT FRACTURED. ALSO, A SPRING DISCONNECTED RESULTING IN VISIBLE AND TANGIBLE SHARP EDGES. THE CAR SEAT MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED AND OFFERED A REPLACEMENT CAR SEAT. COSCO, MODEL# 02-537-EBK, DOM- 09/07/2001. *AK
MY 2004 GMC YUKON STARTED HAVING SPEEDOMETER TROUBLES A FEW MONTHS AGO. SOMETIMES IT WOULD WORK JUST FINE, BUT SOMETIMES IT WOULD READ 120 MPH WHEN I WAS PARKED, OR SOMETIMES IT WOULD READ 0 MPH WHEN I WAS GOING ABOUT 65 ON THE HIGHWAY. SOME DAYS IT WOULD WORK JUST FINE, OTHER DAYS, IT WAS VERY OFF. IT GOT TO WHERE I COULD NOT RELY ON MY SPEEDOMETER TO TELL HOW FAST I WAS GOING. I HAD TO USE A GPS TO GET MY SPEED. *NM
MY SPEEDOMETER BROKE AT 51,000 MILES. I HAVE TALKED TO 5 OTHER YUKON,TAHOE OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED A HUMMING SOUND WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE VEHICLE'S STEERING, WHICH GOT PROGRESSIVELY LOUDER UPON ACCELERATION, TURNING, AND BRAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE HYDROBOOST UNIT WAS FAULTY. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL # 04V045000, REGARDING THE HYDRAULIC SERVICE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.
SPEEDOMETER STICKS ON MY 2004 GMC YUKON XL, IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN ON A DAILY BASIS. I HAVE "RESET" THE SPEEDOMETER NUMEROUS TIMES BY TURNING THE IGNITION KEY ALMOST TO THE START POSITION BUT AFTER @ 10 MILES, IT WILL BE STUCK AGAIN. *JB
SPEEDOMETER IS ERRATIC AND/OR JUST GETS STUCK AFTER EXPIRATION OF VEHICLE WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL AT APPROX COST OF $1,000.00. *JB
I PURCHASED A 2004 GMC YUKON, IN 2005. OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS OR SO, MY SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN ACTING ERRATICALLY - WHEN IT IS HOT OR HUMID THE SPEEDOMETER STARTS TO JUMP A LITTLE THEN STARTS TO REGISTER A HIGHER SPEED THAN I AM MOVING. FOR EXAMPLE: I WAS SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND MY SPEEDOMETER READ 90 MPH. I NOTICED THAT WHEN I WOULD TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND REPEATEDLY START UP AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, THE SPEEDOMETER READING WOULD REDUCE BY APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AT A TIME, WHICH MEANS I HAD TO START UP AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE 18 OR MORE TIMES FOR IT TO RETURN TO 0. THIS HAPPENS QUITE OFTEN. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL GMC DEALER REPAIR DEPARTMENT WHO KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WAS GOING ON - EVIDENTLY THIS IS QUITE THE COMMON THING WITH THESE TRUCKS AND OTHERS - AND TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL REPLACED. PRICING AROUND $375 FOR THE PART AND ANOTHER $100 OR SO FOR INSTALLATION. I HAVE INVESTIGATED COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FOR THIS PROBLEM, WITH GM VEHICLES, AND THERE ARE FAR TOO NUMEROUS OUT THERE FOR THIS TO BE A SINGLE INCIDENT. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS IS A DEFECT. IN MY OPINION, GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR WITH A RECALL. I CAN SEE WHERE IT WOULD DEFINITELY CAUSE ALARM AS FAR AS A SAFETY CONCERN. FORTUNATELY I HAVE NOT HAD AN INCIDENT YET, BUT DEFINITELY FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO FURTHER. I JUST WANTED TO NOTE THAT I ALSO SAW ON AN INTERNET WEBSITE FOR LAWYERS THAT THEY ARE GATHERING COMPLAINTS TOGETHER FOR A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST GM. I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BETTER TO REPORT THIS FOR INVESTIGATION FIRST. *JB

FIRST MY OIL GAUGE STARTED GIVING FALSE READINGS ON MY 2004 GMC DENALI, I COULD LIVE WITH THAT. THEN MY SPEEDOMETER READINGS ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE...ALL THE TIME WITH DIFFERENT READINGS. I AM SCARED FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS. FROM READING ONLINE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON GMC VEHICLES AND I FEEL SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE BY GMC TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM!!! *NM
ABOUT 4 WEEKS AGO (3000 MILES) MY SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO PERIODICALLY MALFUNCTION. IT WOULD BEGIN TO SHOW ACCELERATION IN EXCESS OF 120 MPH EVEN THOUGH I WOULD BE TRAVELING AT SPEEDS LESS THAN 45 MPH. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF IT WOULD SEEM TO WORK NORMALLY. THIS PROBLEM QUICKLY DEVELOPED INTO A FULL-TIME PROBLEM. NOW WHEN MY VEHICLE IS IN PART IT MAY REGISTER FROM 70 TO 90 MPH. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE GMC DEALER FOR A QUOTE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD FIXED THIS SAME PROBLEM ON A NUMBER OF YUKONS AND THAT I NEEDED A NEW INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. *JB
THIS VEHICLE CONTINUES TO LEAVE US ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER IT IS THE FUEL PUMP. THEY HAVE REPLACED 3 TIMES NOW BUT STILL STALLING, WON'T START, DIES WHILE DRIVING, ETC... SO FAR THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED, THE DEALER JUST KEEPS CHANGING THE FUEL PUMP. THEY TELL US GM KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMPS ON THESE SUV'S. *NM
INACCURATE SPEEDOMETER READINGS INCLUDING COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE SPEEDOMETER ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 60MPH, SPEEDOMETER SHOWED 10MPH. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO APPLY BRAKE PRESSURE AT 65 MPH THE BRAKES FAILED RESULTING IN A CRASH. THIS OCCURRED ON A NORMAL ROAD DURING NORMAL BRAKING WITHOUT WARNING AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND NO REPAIRS WERE MADE.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT NO CERTAIN SPEED, THE SPEEDOMETER BECOMES INOPERATIVE. FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN DRIVING AT 10MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER READS 110MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER. THE SPEEDOMETER NOW READS CORRECTLY.
IN DECEMBER OF 2005, STARTING HEARING A LOUD RATTLE COMING FROM THE LEFT FRONT SIDE OF MY 2004 GMC YUKON WITH 26,099 MILES. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER UNDER WARRANTY. THEY WROTE "LUBRICATED BODY MOUNT CUSHIONS". NOW IN FEBRUARY 2007 WITH 46222 MILES THE RATTLE IS BACK. SEARCHING THE INTERNET, I FOUND WWW.TOPIX.NET GMC YUKON SUSPENSION RATTLE WITH COMPLAINTS FROM DOZENS OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. GM HAS EVEN CREATED A LUBRICATION KIT FOR IT'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO USE, HOWEVER IT DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM WHICH IS IN THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING COLUMN. THE DEALER LIED ABOUT THE SERVICE PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE AND GM KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM. MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE ENTIRE INTERMEDIATE STEERING COLUMNS REPLACED, BUT THE RATTLE CONTINUES. APPARENTLY THERE IS ACTUALLY THE LOWER STEERING COLUMN BEARING THAT NEEDS REPLACED. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IF THE STEERING BEARING WEARS OUT. DOES MY STEERING GO OUT? WILL I HAVE AN ACCIDENT? I HAVE CONTACTED GM REGARDING A RECALL AND NOTHING. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. THE ODOMETER CONTINUED TO REPRESENT CORRECT MILEAGE, BUT THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT REGISTER THE SPEED. ALTHOUGH THE DEALER DID NOT INSPECT THE VEHICLE HE SUGGESTED THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER COULD NOT PERFORM THE REPAIR BECAUSE OF A LACK OF PARTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, AND THEY EXPLAINED THE PARTS WERE ON NATIONAL BACKORDER. *AK
MY 2004 GMC YUKON HAS BEEN TAKEN TO SEVERAL GMC SERVICE CENTERS TO TRY AND DIAGNOSE SEVERAL ELECTRONIC ISSUES. 1. THE RADIO AND AC UNIT WILL TURN ON FOR NO REASON AND BOTH UNITS ARE EXTREMELY HOT TO THE TOUCH. 2. THE FRONT DASH RESONATES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT A SLIGHT INCLINE OR DECLINE WHEN THE AC UNIT IS ON. 3. THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD OCCASIONALLY STOP WORKING AFTER RUNNING THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES YET THE DEALERSHIP WAS NEVER ABLE TO DUPLICATE. IT HAS NOW STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. *NM
SECOND ROW OUTSIDE SAFETY BELTS INTERMITTENTLY DO NOT RETRACT OR ALLOW EXTENSION. SEATS ARE PRESENTLY USED WITH BOOSTER SEATS FOR TWIN BOYS, AND INTERMITTENT FAILURES HAVE CAUSED US TO HAVE TO MOVE BOOSTERS TO OTHER SEATS FOR SAFETY REASONS. *JB
2004 YUKON CUSTOMER STATES THAT IN DEC BEGAN EXPERIENCING A RATTLE THAT BECAME LOUDER OVER A PERIOD OF A COUPLE WEEKS**CC THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RATTLING WAS DUE TO THE CAR BEING IN NEED OF LUBRICATED BODY MOUNT CUSHIONS. THE CONSUMER STATES, NOW IT IS JAN 2007 AND PROBLEM IS RECURRING. THE CONSUMER STATES THE WEBSITE WWW.TOPIX.NET HAS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS DEALING WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. GMC HAS EVEN CREATED A LUBRICATION KIT FOR THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING COLUMN, BUT THE LUBRICANT ONLY SILENCES THE PROBLEM FOR A WHILE. *TR
WHEN FILLING GAS TANK, GAS PUMP KEEPS CLICKING OFF AS IF THE TANK IS FULL. ALTHOUGH, THE FILLING PROCESS HAS JUST STARTED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE VEHICLE HAS RECEIVED REPAIRS FOR THIS ISSUE.. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER IS STUCK AT 80 MILES PER HOUR. THE PROCESS TO FIX THE VEHICLE REQUIRES THEM TO TAKE THE PART OFF SHIP IT TO DALLAS OR HOUSTON (MIN 3 DAYS W/O VEHICLE). REPAIRERS HAVE BEEN BEHIND (MIN 1 WEEK W/O VEHICLE). ACCORDING TO MY SERVICE PROVIDER THEY HAVE 5 OTHERS WAITING FOR THE SAME TYPE OF WORKED TO BE PERFORMED. IF THERE ARE 5 PEOPLE WAITING TO HAVE THEIR SPEEDOMETER REPAIRED (AT THE SAME TIME) SOUNDS LIKE A CONSISTENT PROBLEM. I DON'T KNOW HOW "ONE" STICKS THEIR SPEEDOMETER. *JB
WHEN PRESSING MORE THAN ONE DRIVERS WINDOW CONTROL, THE DRIVER'S SEAT OCCASIONALLY MOVES TO THE FULL FORWARD POSITION FORCING THE DRIVER UP AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, IT IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL (STEER) THE VEHICLE.
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 YUKON XL WHICH HE HAD OWNED FOR EIGHTEEN MONTHS WITH ABOUT 12,000 MILES ON IT. THE ROTORS HAD RUSTED AND PITTED ON ALL FOUR WHEELS. THE DEALER SAID THEY MUST BE REPLACED. GM SAID THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRAKES AND CALLED THIS AN ENVIRONMENTAL WEAR PROBLEM. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF THIS ON 10-06-05 DURING A ROUTINE SERVICE CHECK. THE CONTACT THOUGHT THIS WAS A DEFECT IN THE BRAKES ON BECAUSE THE ROTORS SHOULD HAVE NOT HAVE WORN OUT WITH ONLY 12,000 MILES ON THE CAR.*AK UPDATED 11/15/2005 - AFTER THE CONSUMER INDICATED HE WAS GOING TO CALL NHTSA HE RECEIVED A CALL FROM AN AREA REP. THE REP INDICATED THAT GM APPROVED REPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT ROTORS AND CLEANING OF THE REAR BRAKES UNDER WARRANTY. *NM

DT: THE VEHICLE HAS POWER STEERING BUT STEERING TO THE LEFT BECAME VERY DIFFICULT. THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH RIGHT SIDE STEERING. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED ,AND BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY WOULD NOT MAKE ANY CORRECTIONS UNLESS THE CONSUMER WOULD PAY FOR IT. THE CONSUMER OWNS AN AUTO REPAIR BUSINESS AND DETERMINED IT WAS THE STEERING GEAR BOX. HE PURCHASED A NEW STEERING GEAR BOX AND REPLACED THE OLD ONE. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED AT 47,000 MILES. THERE HAVE BEEN NO PROBLEMS SINCE THE REPAIR. *AK
OUR 2004 GMC YUKON CONTINUES TO STALL WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY DURING HOT WEATHER AND ON INCLINES. FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED ON 6/29/05, 7/29/05, AND ON 9/6/05. DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO CORRECT PROBLEM WITH NEW FUEL PUMPS. *NM

ON AUGUST 15,2005 MY HUSBAND DROVE TO PORTLAND TO ATTEND OUR GRANDSONS BIRTHDAY PARTY. HE STOPPED TO PICK UP OUR SON AND HIS FAMILY TO TAKE TO OUR DAUGHTERS. HE RECALLS THAT THERE WERE NO PEDESTRIANS OR HEARING ANY THING HIT THE WINDOW. THE DEALER AND GM HAS REFUSED TO PURSUE THIS SO WE REPLACED THE WINDOW. THE PROFESSIONAL WHO REPLACED OUR WINDOW SAID THAT IT APPEARED TO BLOW OUT FROM THE INSIDE. HE ALSO STATED THAT HE HAS SEEN WINDOWS WHILE REPLACING THEM SHATTER FROM LITTLE PRESSURE. WE STRESSED TO OUR DEALER AND GM OUR CONCERN THAT THIS COULD BE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. LUCKILY OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN SITTING IN THE BACK WERE NOT HURT.*JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI XL. THE BOSE GPS NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND RADIO BUTTONS WERE COMPLETELY WORN TO THE POINT THAT THE CONTACT COULD NOT READ WHAT WAS DISPLAYED. IN ADDITION, THE MIDDLE CONSOLE ON THE DASHBOARD WAS PEELING. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT IT WAS REGULAR WEAR AND TEAR. THE MODEL, PART AND SERIAL NUMBER ARE NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS BETWEEN 10,000-15,000 MILES AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH ON A 102 DEGREE DAY, MY FUEL TANK WAS AT 1/2 FULL. THE ENGINE STALLED AND I LOST ALL ACCELERATION, MAKING IT DANGEROUS ON HIGHWAY CONDITIONS. WHEN I SLOWED TO 20 MPH AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, I LOST ALL POWER OF STEERING AND BRAKES. I EXPERIENCED "VAPOR LOCK" ACCORDING TO THE GM CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN WHO EVALUATED MY PROBLEM THE FOLLOWING DAY (UNDER A COOL ENGINE CONDITION).HE FOUND NO DEFECTS WITH A COOL ENGINE ON A 60 DEGREE MORNING.
ON ARRIVAL FROM 80-MILE TRIP, WE PARKED VEHICLE AND TURNED-OFF IGNITION. UPON ALIGHTING FROM VEHICLE, WE DETECTED A BURNING ODOR. INSPECTION REVEALED SMOKE RELEASED THROUGH FRONT GRILLE. RELEASE OF HOOD ALLOWED SMOKE TO BILLOW-OUT. FLAMES EMERGED IMMEDIATELY, SPREADING QUICKLY FROM ENGINE BAY REARWARD, ENGULFING ENTIRE VEHICLE, WHICH WAS DESTROYED, ALONG WITH OTHER VEHICLE PARKED ALONGSIDE. FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO IMMEDIATE CALL FOR HELP AND EXTINGUISHED ALL FIRES WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF CALL. *NM
"STABILITY SYSTEM DISABLED" WAS DISPLAYED PRIOR TO THE BRAKES BEING ENGAGED WITHOUT DRIVER INPUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND A 'YAW SENSOR' REPLACED. THE PROBLEM RETURNED WITHIN 20 MILES. A SECOND SENSOR WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH REPROGRAMMING. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. DEALER STATES "GM HAS TOLD US TO DO NOTHING MORE". NO FURTHER EXPLANATION IS OFFERED BY THE DEALER OR GM "CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE". I BELIEVE THAT A VEHICLE THAT ACTIVATES BRAKES ON DRY PAVEMENT WITHOUT THE DRIVER'S FOOT ON THE PEDAL IS DANGEROUS.
TACHOMETER WILL NOT STAY ACCURATE ,SLOWLEY WORKS IT WAY UP TO BE PEGGED AT 6500 RPMS WITH ENGINE OFF, THEN IT WILL RETURN TO NORMAL AND START OVER.*AK
I PURCHASED 10/2/2004 A 2004 GMC YUKON WHICH HAD ABOUT 1500 MILES LEFT BEFORE THE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE MILEAGE ON THE SPEEDOMETER READ 31144. SINCE I PAID FOR THE VEHICLE CASH I DID NOT PURCHASE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. SOMETIME AFTER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THE SAFETY BELT RECALL IN 8/2005 MY SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY AND MY GAS GAUGE BEGAN TO STICK. WHEN I WAS ADVISED THAT THIS WAS BECAUSE OF A FAULTY CLUSTER AND THE PRICE IT COST I'VE MANAGED TO MAKE DUE AND NOT INCURRING ANY MORE SPEEDING TICKETS AND RUNNING OUT OF GAS. NOW THAT GM HAS TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FAULTY EQUIPMENT WHERE I AM ABLE TO GET THIS FIXED AT NO CHARGE TO ME, GM IS STATING THAT I HAVE EXCEEDED THE 7 YEAR OR 70,000 MILE LIMITATION. I CURRENTLY HAVE 92,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK, HOWEVER, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE 31144 THAT WAS THERE WHEN IT WAS PURCHASED. I FEEL THAT THE GAUGES ON A VEHICLE ARE ESSENTIAL TO THE SAFETY OF THAT VEHICLE AND OTHER DRIVERS. DT: VEHICLE IS A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. WHILE DRIVING 25-35 MPH THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF ON THE CONSUMER. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE SAME DAY, WHICH WAS ON 6-24-05. THE BRAKE LIGHT WILL COME ON THEN THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER. THE CONSUMER CAN GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP BY APPLYING EXTREME PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED WHILE CONSUMER WAS STOPPING AT A STOP LIGHT. LESS THAN 5 MINUTES LATER SHE WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START AGAIN. AFTERWARDS SHE WAS PULLING INTO A GAS STATION WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF THE SECOND TIME. THE CONSUMER HAD TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE SAME DAY. THE VEHICLE REMAINED THERE UNTIL 7-2, AND AT THIS TIME THEY TOLD HER THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. THE THIRD TIME THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WAS ON 7-3. THIS OCCURRED WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING 30-35 MPH. THE CONSUMER HAD TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 7-5. THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. THE CONSUMER PICKED THE VEHICLE UP ON 7-11. AND TODAY 7-12 THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING AND JERKING WHILE GOING 60 MPH. THIS PROBLEM WAS OFF AND ON UNTIL THE CONSUMER HAD STOPPED THE VEHICLE. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE BACK UP AND DRIVING 35-40 MPH IT STOPPED ON THE CONSUMER FOR THE FOURTH TIME. AND AS OF NOW THE VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALERSHIP. ALL REPAIRS WERE DONE BY THE SAME DEALERSHIP AS PURCHASED FROM. THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. AS OF NOW THE CONSUMER HAS NOT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURE. *NM

2004 GMC YUKON SLT -- INSTRUMENT PANEL WHEN TRUCK WAS STARTED. ALL GAUGES (FUEL, BATTERY & WATER) BECAME INACTIVE. SHIFT INDICATOR NO LONGER WORKED AND I WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT GEAR THE CAR WAS IN. AUDIO SYSTEM (CASSETTE, CD PLAYER AND RADIO) BECAME INOPERABLE. CAR TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP -- BECK & MASTEN NORTH IN HOUSTON. I WAS TOLD THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. PREVIOUS ISSUE WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER GOING OUT, CAUSING SPEEDOMETER TO BECOME INOPERATIVE. DEALER ADMITTED THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM ON A NUMBER OF YUKONS. (I HAVEN'T SEEN THIS A A RECALL ON EITHER YOUR SITE OR GMC'S SITE.) GMC HAS VIOLATED FMVSS STANDARD NO. 101 AND PARTS 573 AND 577.
