THE SHIFT LEVER POSITION INDICATOR LOCATED IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DOES NOT ILLUMINATE. WHEN THE SHIFT LEVER POSITION INDICATOR DOES NOT ILLUMINATE, THE DRIVER DOES NOT KNOW WHICH GEAR THE VEHICLE IS IN. *TR
DRIVING VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR APPROX. 1 HOUR CAUSES DIAL-TYPE SPEEDOMETER TO BEGIN REGISTERING INCORRECTLY. INITIALLY THE DEVIATION IS ONLY 3-4 MPH, BUT OVER TIME WILL WORSEN. ACTUAL SPEED IS BEING MEASURED WITH HANDHELD GPS UNIT TO CHECK AGAINST SPEEDOMETER DEVIATION. SPEEDOMETER CAN REGISTER OVER OR UNDER ACTUAL SPEED. AT WORSE, SPEEDOMETER CAN SHOW 0-5 MPH WHILE TRAVELING AT 60-65 MPH ACTUAL, AND AT OTHER TIMES HAS REGISTERED 110-115 MPH WHILE TRAVELING AT 40-45 MPH ACTUAL. IF ENGINE IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, SPEEDOMETER WILL REGISTER ACTUAL SPEED FOR A SHORT TIME, THEN BEGIN DEVIATING FROM ACTUAL AGAIN. PROBLEM DOES NOT APPEAR TO OCCUR WHEN ONLY TRAVELING AT SPEEDS BELOW HIGHWAY SPEED (30-45 MPH), BUT WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS LONG ENOUGH FOR DEVIATION TO OCCUR, SPEEDOMETER WILL BEGIN REGISTERING OVER/UNDER ACTUAL AT ANY ACTUAL SPEED IF VEHICLE IS BEING CONTINUOUSLY DRIVEN (NOT SHUT OFF). *TR
2005 GMC YUKON SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTIONING. OCCURS EVERY OTHER DAY APPROXIMATELY. VEHICLE MAY BE TRAVELING AT 10 MPH WHILE THE SPEEDOMETER MAY REGISTER 50 MPH. *TR
SPEEDOMETER ACTING ERRATIC. AT HIGHWAY SPEED SOMETIMES READS 25MPH. JERKY REACTION AT ALL SPEEDS. OIL PRESSURE GAUGE STUCK ON 80 PSI. *TR
FAULTY SPEEDOMETER 2005 GMC YUKON. I RECENTLY SAW A NEWS REPORT ON FAULTY SPEEDOMETERS WITH GM VEHICLES DONE BACK IN 2007 AND I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 2005 GMC YUKON. CURRENTLY MY SPEEDOMETER SITS AT 60 MPH IN PARK AND GETS PINNED AT 120 MPH ON THE ROAD WHEN I'M ONLY MOVING AROUND 40 MPH. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC AND THEY TOLD ME THE WARRANTY ON THIS PROBLEM IS 5 YRS OR 70,000 MILES. ONE PROBLEM, I AM AT 91,000 MILES AND THEY TOLD ME GMC MAILED OUT LETTERS STATING THE SPEEDOMETER PROBLEMS. I NEVER RECEIVED THIS LETTER!! NOW THEY ARE OFFERING TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR $600!! I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER HELP LINE AND THE SAID THE SAME THING. MY QUESTION IS IF GMC ADMITS TO THE FAULTY SPEEDOMETER THEN WHY DID THEY PUT A 70,000 MILE CAP ON THE WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE WHICH IS CLEARLY A SAFETY HAZARD?? COULD YOU PLEASE HELP? 2005 GMC YUKON SPEEDOMETER WILL NOT WORK HALF THE TIME, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT SPEED YOU ARE DOING THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD CAUSE YOUR NOT GETTING THE RIGHT SPEED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
I WILL BE DRIVING MY 2005 YUKON, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN UNDER DRY CONDITIONS WHEN I TAKE OFF FROM A STOP MY CAR GOES FOR A SECOND, THAN EVERYTHING STOPS, I WILL SLAP THE GAS PEDAL THE ENGINE IS RUNNING BUT DOESN'T REV (SP) AND THE CAR DOESN'T MOVE...I LIVE ON A MAIN ROUTE , THE SPEED LIMIT IS 55MPH IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE, I MAKE SURE I GIVE MYSELF PLENTY OF DISTANCE TO GO AND WHEN I PULL OUT IN FRONT OF TRAFFIC THINKING I HAVE PLENTY OF TIME AND THAN THIS HAPPENS...I AM PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH MY FAMILY...THERE IS NO WARNING THAT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN...A LIGHT COMES ON THE DASH SAYING TRACTION ACTIVE....THAT IS NOT A WARNING....MY CAR DOES NOT GO! I HAVE LOOKED IT UP ON THE INTERNET, AND THERE IS THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS...NO ONE REALLY HAS AN ANSWER TO FIX IT...IT IS HIT AND MISS.....I AM SURE IT IS A RECALL BUT GMC WOULD HAVE TO SPEND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO FIX IT....WHY DOES THE RICH GUY ALWAYS GET THE BREAK.....I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A CLASS ACTION SUIT AND IT SHOULD DEFINITELY BE LOOKED INTO....WE BAIL GM OUT, THAN THEY PLAY DEATH GAMES WITH OUR LOVED ONES.....IF THEY COULD 100% TELL ME WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT, I WOULD HAVE IT FIXED, BUT THEY WON'T FESS UP.....COME ON GM....YOU KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM.....THIS HAPPENS ALWAYS, I DRIVE AROUND WITH THE TRACTION SYSTEM DISABLED...I HAVE TO DO THIS EACH TIME THE CAR IS OFF AND BACK ON. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE REPAIRS WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
THE FUEL GAUGE IS DEFECTIVE. IT IS USUALLY SAYING EMPTY WHEN THERE IS PLENTY OF GAS IN THE TANK. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR A LONG TIME. WHEN I PUT GAS IN THE GAUGE WILL DISPLAY THE PROPER AMOUNT. WITHIN MINUTES IT WILL SAY EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD BECOME ERRATIC. THE OIL GAUGE WOULD REMAIN AT ZERO AND THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD STOP AT 40 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC WAS NEEDED AT THE COST OF $90 TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE SPEEDOMETER FAILURE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE TO DATE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 56,600.
MY 2005 YUKON 4WD WENT OUT. IT STARTED AS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SINCE IT WAS NOT CURRENTLY HAVING PROBLEMS THEY WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE ISSUE. THIS TIME IT WAS OUT FOR SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE I FINALLY TOOK IT IN. ALTHOUGH NOTHING EXTREME HAPPENED, SINCE I WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, BUT IF SOMEONE WAS NOT AWARE OF THE ISSUE THEY COULD POTENTIALLY LOSE CONTROL OF THERE VEHICLE SINCE THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM IS ALSO DISABLED IN THIS PROBLEM. REPLACED THE 4WD ACTUATOR TOTAL BILL 762.00 WAS ALSO TOLD IT COULD POTENTIALLY SHORT OUT THE BRAIN BOX FOR THE 4WD OPERATING SYSTEM. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IT WAS WHEN THE WEATHER WAS COLD, NEVER HAD AN ISSUE ALL SUMMER UNTIL NOW, WHEN THE WEATHER TURNED COLD. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAD 38,000 MILES THE FIRST TIME AND 52,000 THIS TIME. MY 1999 YUKON HAD 158,000 AND I NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH IT. *TR
ON CERTAIN TRUCKS, THE BOLT THAT ATTACHES THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT TO THE STEERING GEAR MAY NOT MEET SPECIFICATION. THE BOLT MAY FRACTURE RESULTING IN THE LOSS OF STEERING. THIS IS FROM A GMC SIERRA TRUCK, BUT I HAVE THIS WRONG WITH MY GMC YUKON. *TR
THE INSIDE TREAD OF EVERY TIRE IS 1/2 INCH SHORTER THAN THE OUTSIDE TREAD AFTER ONLY 30,000 MILES. THE CAR ALIGNMENT WAS CHECKED AND ONLY SLIGHTLY OFF. TWO AUTO MECHANICS HAVE SAID THEY ARE JUNK TIRES AND THAT IS WHY THEY WORE THE WAY THEY DID. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER WENT FROM 70MPH TO 120MPH AND THEN JUST STUCK THERE- OUR SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 70MPH AT THE TIME THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED. *TR
SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO ACT ERRATIC, THEN COMPLETELY FAILED AT 60 MPH...EVEN WHEN STOPPED. THE SPEEDOMETER IS NOT LONGER RESPONSIVE AND UNRELIABLE FOR SAFE TRAVEL. GM OWES THE PUBLIC A RECALL NOTICE, BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED! A NEW INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS REQUIRED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, A 500 DOLLAR FIX. *TR
THE AIRBAG IN MY GMC YUKON 2005 GOT HIT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOYED. I AM US CITIZEN WORKING IN AMMAN JORDAN. *TR
I HAD DRIVEN MY YUKON FOR ROUGHLY A YEAR WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR GLASS HINGE BROKE. IT CAUSED A LEAK AND I HAVE BEEN IN FEAR OF THE BACK GLASS COMING LOOSE OR BREAKING DURING DRIVING. MY RESEARCH HAS LED ME TO SEVERAL STORIES OF THE SAME PROBLEM LEAVING GLASS ON ROADS, CARWASHES, AND EVEN ON FOLLOWING VEHICLES, CAUSING DAMAGE. GM EXPECTS ME TO PAY OVER $1000 TO REPLACE THE GLASS. A REDESIGNED GLASS WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THEY KNOW OF THE PROBLEM AND REFUSE TO HELP FIX IT. *TR
STARTING IN NOVEMBER 2007, I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2005 YUKON SPEEDOMETER. IT WOULD EITHER START AT 60MPH, NOT GO HIGHER THAN 45MPH, AND LATELY IT JUST FAILED. IT'S NOT REGISTERING ANY SPEED. ON JULY 25, 2008, I WAS TOLD BY A GMC DEALERSHIP THAT MY CLUSTER HAS FAILED AND NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THESE THEY HAVE SEEN A LOT OF THESE VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. SUPPOSEDLY, THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2003 AND 2005 MODELS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR SPEEDOMETER. *TR
2005 YUKON SLT GAUGE CLUSTER MODULE QUITS WORKING, SPEEDOMETER, GAS GAUGE AND WARNING LIGHTS COME ON PERIODICALLY FOR NO REASON. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR AT 1,800 RPMS THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED INTO SECOND GEAR. THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND THE CONTACT PULLED OFF THE ROAD. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH. THE VEHICLEWAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL EITHER BE TORN DOWN OR REPLACED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 45,180, AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.*AK

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE DEALER RE-LUBED THE STEERING SHAFT. RECENTLY, THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000.
ON MY 2005 GMC YUKON, AFTER ABOUT 6 MONTHS OR SO, DURING BRAKING, THERE WAS A LOUD GRINDING/SLIPPING FEELING, THAT FELT LIKE IT CAME FROM THE FRONT END. AFTER GETTING THE BRAKES CHECKED OUT, I WAS TOLD THEY WERE FINE. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER PLACE, AND THEY DUPLICATED THE SOUND AND CHANGED THE REAR BRAKES. DIDN'T HEAR THE NOISE FOR ABOUT A MONTH, THEN IT CAME BACK. STILL FEELS AND SOUNDS THE SAME. TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP. THEY SAID THE FRONT BRAKES WERE FINE BUT I WANTED THEM CHANGED ANYWAY. SO THEY DID. NOISE STILL THERE. ANYONE ELSE WITH THIS ISSUE? THE NOISE AND FEEL OCCUR WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP OR TURN FROM NORMAL TRAVEL SPEEDS ON HIGHWAY OR ROADWAY. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE PLACED INTO REVERSE GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR AWHILE BEFORE IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP, DIAGNOSTIC TESTS WERE PERFORMED. THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE REVERSE INPUT PISTON SEAL. IT WAS CUT AND NOT HOLDING PROPER PRESSURE. THE SEAL WAS REPLACED HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WAS STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM AFTER REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO 2 OTHER DEALERSHIPS WHERE DIAGNOSTIC TESTS WERE PERFORMED. THE DEALERSHIPS ARE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
BEARING AND TICKING NOISE COMING FROM TRANSFER CASE WHEN USING 2H AT 65 MPH & GREATER. NOISE GOES AWAY IN AUTO 4 WHEEL. *NM
WE HAD OUR SECOND BRAND NEW 2005 YUKON SLT FOR ABOUT 1 WEEK, WITH APPROXIMATELY 250 MILES ON IT WHEN THE "STABILITRAK" AUTOMATIC STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LOCK UP. WE GOT THIS VEHICLE AFTER OUR 1ST YUKON LOCKED UP APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH EARLIER. WE HAD JUST LEFT OUR HOME AND WERE ON THE STREET WE LIVE ON DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, WHEN WE FELT SOMETHING WEIRD, HEARD A GRINDING NOISE, AND THE VEHICLE LOCKED UP. THE "SERVICE STABILITY" LIGHT WAS ON. THE IS EXACTLY THE SAME SCENARIO THAT HAPPENED ON OUR OTHER 2005 YUKON. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY DIAGNOSTIC CODES PRESENT IN THE COMPUTER, OR ANY ROUTE CAUSE. WE FEEL VERY UNCERTAIN OF THE "STABILITRAK" SYSTEM AND FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY REVIEW. HAD THIS HAPPENED AT A SPEED OF 60 MPH OR FASTER, WE COULD BE INJURED OR DEAD. THERE MUST BE OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS MALFUNCTION. THROUGH RESEARCH, WE FOUND THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED SEVERAL MONTHS APART AND AT DIFFERENT MANUFACTURING FACILITY THAN THE FIRST YUKON. WE WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO CALL US REGARDING THIS IMPORTANT ISSUE, THIS IS THE SECOND YUKON TO HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THE STABILITRAK SYSTEM. *NM
WE HAD OUR BRAND NEW 2005 YUKON SLT FOR 1 WEEK AND IT HAD APPROXIMATELY 226 MILES ON IT, WHEN THE "STABILITRAK" ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LOCK UP. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON MY NORMAL ROUTE, A FAIRLY STRAIGHT ROUTE, WHEN THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE, BECAME IMPOSSIBLE TO MANEUVER, AND TOTALLY LOCKED UP. HAD I BEEN DRIVING FASTER, I AM CONFIDENT THAT WE COULD HAVE ROLLED OR BEEN IN AN AWFUL ACCIDENT. THE "SERVICE STABILITY" LIGHT WAS ON. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO PINPOINT THE CAUSE OF MALFUNCTION. GENERAL MOTORS CONCLUDED THAT THE YAW SENSOR HAD NOT BEEN CALIBRATED, CAUSING IT TO ENABLE THE STABILITRAK PROGRAM WITHOUT REASON OR WARNING. WE DID NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THAT EXPLANATION FROM GENERAL MOTORS. THE DEALERSHIP AGREED AND GOT US ANOTHER BRAND NEW YUKON. WE WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO CALL US REGARDING THIS SERIOUS ISSUE. *NM
DT: IN THIS VEHICLE THE CONSOLE IS WIDER AND THE SEATS ARE NARROWER. THE CONSOLE IS IN THE CONSUMER'S ARM AREA SPACE WHEN MAKING A HARD RIGHT TURN AND FOR ANY REASON, THE CONSUMER WOULD HIT THE CONSOLE OR THE ARM REST. NOTICED THIS EARLY ON. TALKED TO GMC, THEY TOOK THE INFORMATION AND SAID THAT THE ENGINEERS WILL CONTACT CONSUMER . *AK THE CONSUMER STATED NO ONE HAS CONTACTED. *JB

I RENTED A 2005 GMC YUKON FROM ENTERPRISE AT THE SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA. AIRPORT LOCATION. WHILE DRIVING HOME ON HIGHWAY 101 NORTHBOUND OVER CUESTA GRADE ON THE DECENT OF THE NORTH SIDE OF THE GRADE THE HOOD POPPED OPEN, FORTUNATELY THE ADDITIONAL LATCH CAUGHT THE HOOD THUS PREVENTING THE HOOD FROM FLYING BACK AND SMASHING THE WINDSHIELD. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC AT THAT MOMENT AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND SECURE THE HOOD. I DETERMINED THAT THE HOOD RELEASE LEVER LOCATED NEAR THE FLOOR BOARD ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DRIVERS AREA HAS VERY LITTLE RESISTANCE AND IS FAR TO EASY TO RELEASE. I HAD BEEN LISTENING TO THE RADIO, TAPPING MY LEFT FOOT AROUND AND WITHOUT KNOWING IT I HAD CAUGHT THE HOOD RELEASE WITH MY FOOT AND POPPED THE HOOD OPEN. I FEEL THAT AN AFTER MARKET REPAIR COULD BE MADE BY CREATING A ATTACHABLE FLAP STYLE DOOR THAT WOULD COVER THE RELEASE LATCH UNTIL IT WAS ACTUALLY NEEDED. I ALLERTED THE RENTAL AGENCY OF THE DEFECT AND ADVISED THEM NOT TO RENT THAT VEHICLE OUT UNTIL A CORRECTION TO THAT DEFECT HAD BEEN COMPLETED. I ASKED THAT THEY PASS THIS INFORMATION ON TO THE COMPANY AND THAT THEY LET GMC KNOW AS WELL. THANK YOU, HILY GREENE. *AK
