The third row seat attachment from the seat to the frame has broken. It is a hook type mechanism that holds the entire row of seats to the latch in the floorboard. This car was not in an accident and the seats broke when the vehicle stopped. There should be a recall. Also the back seatbelt was on a recall for this vehicle but doesn't show up anymore. Please restore the recall. Thank you
The contact owns a 2005 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that after his wife turned off the vehicle, the blower motor control module continued to operate and would not shut off as needed. The contact was able to drive the vehicle back home and had a mechanically inclined friend to disconnect the blower motor wiring harness. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where he was provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
The contact owned a 2005 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at 80 MPH in an interstate with her in the passenger seat and her two children in the rear seats, the steering wheel seized inadvertently and the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle veered off to the left side of the road. The contact stated as her husband was trying to regain control of the vehicle, the tires hit the pavement and the vehicle rolled over 7 times in a ditch, within 180 yards and landed on its passenger side. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact and her husband noticed that the children were no longer in the vehicle and they immediately exited the vehicle through the front driver's side window to search for them. The contact stated that her 12 year old daughter who was sitting in the rear passenger side seat of the second row with a seat belt, was ejected through an unknown window and landed in a bush, 80 yards away from where the vehicle had landed. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 05V163000 (Seat Belts). The contact's 20 year old son who was sitting in the rear driver seat of the second row with no seat belt, was ejected through an unknown window and landed 50 yards away from where the vehicle had landed. The contact and her family were transported to the hospital with the assistance of emergency units. The contact's son sustained a concussion, swollen knee injury, laceration on the head with 18 staples in the back of his head, 3-4 stiches on his thump and lacerations all over his body. The contact's daughter, who had been airlifted from the first hospital to a second hospital, sustained fractured skull, epidural hematoma, 2 internal brain hemorrhages, an unknown fractured part of the body, 2 dislocated primary teeth , deep laceration on her left hand that required 10 stiches and could lead to permanent nerve damage, deep laceration on her torso that required 8-10 staples. The contact's husband sustained a dislocated right elbow, laceration on face, arms and other parts of the body and a severe concussion. The contact sustained a severe concussion, significant bruising on the right side of the body, an hemangioma and CT scan showed lesions on her liver. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot where it was totaled. A police report was filed. The contact stated that the police officer and the towing company advised that the accident may have been caused by damaged rear shocks. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 270,000
MESSAGE ON DASH SAYING AIRBAG IS DEFECTIVE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD ABNORMALLY WHEN DEPRESSED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER (KEYES WOODLAND HILLS BUICK GMC, 6133 TOPANGA CANYON BLVD, LOS ANGELES, CA 91367) WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A RECALL DID NOT EXIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V103000 (SERVICE BRAKES), BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
WHEN DRIVING MY TRUCK THE TRACTION CONTROL COMES ON FREQUENTLY WHEN IN MOTION. SOMETIMES IT EVEN COMPLETELY DOESN'T MOVE FOR A FEW SECONDS EVEN WHEN GIVEN GAS THEN LURKS FORWARD, WHICH FRIGHTENS ME BECAUSE IT HAS HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHICH COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I'VE BEEN READING UP ON THIS ISSUE AND IT SEEMS PRETTY COMMON, THIS IS ALARMING THAT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN PUT INTO EFFECT! BESIDES THAT MY TRUCK RUNS BEAUTIFUL, WHAT CAN I DO? THIS IS AN ONGOING THING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THERE WAS A STRONG FUEL ODOR COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WERE HOLES IN THE FUEL LINE DUE TO THE LINES BEING TOO CLOSE AND RUBBING TOGETHER. THE FUEL LINES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 275,000.
LOST BRAKES COMPLETELY. THE WAS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE IN THE CLUSTER OF BRAKE LINES IN FRONT OF ABS MODULE DUE TO RUST WHICH LEFT A PUDDLE CONTAINING ALL OF THE BRAKE FLUID ON THE GROUND. LUCKILY THE VEHICLE WAS IN A CHURCH PARKING LOT WHEN IT HAPPENED AND A SUDDEN STOP WAS NOT NEEDED FROM A HIGHER SPEED. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN BAD IF THAT WERE THE CASE. TOO BAD GM DID TO SPEND A FEW EXTRA DOLLARS ON RUST-PROOF BRAKE LINES GIVEN HOW EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS THEY ARE.
3 OF THE 13 EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS ARE BROKEN OFF FLUSH WITH THE BLOCK. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ONLINE AND THOUSANDS OF OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING. LOOKING FOR GMC TO COVER THE COSTS TO FIX THIS (SHOULD BE RECALL) ISSUE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT NOTICED A FUEL ODOR COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED FROM THE ELBOW ON THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE 2005 YUKON BRAKE LINES HAVE RUSTED THROUGH, AND WHILE DRIVING OF ALL PLACES TO THE INSPECTION STATION IN UPSTATE NY. WHILE IN THE SHOP FOR REPAIR, IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE ALUMINUM ANTILOCK DISTRIBUTION BOX HAS MAJOR CORROSION AS WELL. IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
MY YUKON XL 1500 YEARS 2005 MIL 144,254 MY OIL IS FULLY SYNTHETIC EVERY 3MONTHS WHY IS MY LIFTERS IS KNOCKING? I DRIVE MY YUKON XL ON A LONG ROAD TRIP. ON EVERY LONG DRIVE ME AND MY FAMILY. I DO MY OIL SO IT'S FRESH. HOPE YOU CAN HELP ME?
MY WIFE, WITH THREE CHILDREN IN THE CAR, ATTEMPTED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROX. 35 MPH AND THE BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED. AFTER GOING THROUGH ONE ADDITIONAL STOP SIGN AND RED TRAFFIC LIGHT, SHE WAS ABLE TO SAFELY BRING THE CAR TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER. UPON INVESTIGATION IT WAS FOUND THAT ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES HAD COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH AND RUPTURED. WE ARE LUCKY THAT THEY ARE ALIVE. BASED ON THE NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, AND POTENTIAL SEVERITY OF THIS TYPE OF BRAKE FAILURE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL OF THESE CLEARLY DEFECTIVE BRAKE LINES.

IN ADDITION, THE CABLE UNDER THE DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE CAUGHT FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SENDING UNIT FOR THE FUEL PUMP RUSTED AND FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06E043000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
A KNOWN ISSUE AND PREVIOUS RECALL FOR LIGHTED IDENTIFICATION OF GEAR SHIFT SELECTOR THAT TELLS YOU WHAT GEAR THE CAR IS IN. LIGHT BURNS OUT ARE STOPS FUNCTIONING, RESULT YOU HAVE NO IDEA OF THE GEAR YOU ARE IN. SUPPOSEDLY MY VIN DID NOT FALL WITHIN THE RECALL RANGE. INTERNET DISCLOSES MANY OTHER OWNERS WITH SAME PROBLEM NOT INCLUDE IN PREVIOUS RECALL. A EXPANDED RECALL NEEDS TO BE MADE TO INCLUDE ANY VEHICLES THAT HAVE THIS KNOWN ISSUE. THIS INCLUDES A NUMBER OF GMC PRODUCTS, SIERRA, YUKON ETC. ALL DEALER STATED IT WAS NOT WITHIN RECALL RANGE. SO I AM STUCK WITH A DANGERS VEHICLE THAT YOU CAN NOT TELL WHAT GEAR THE VEHICLE IS SHIFTED IN. INDICATOR DOES NOT LIGHT IN STOPPED OR MOVING POSITION! LIGHT FADED, FADED AND FINALLY FAILED 3 MONTHS AGO!
I HAVE NOTICED OVER THE PAST YEAR THAT THE SHIFT INDICATOR IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAS BEEN INTERMITTENT/NOT VISIBLE DURING ANY OPERATION OF CAR OPERATION. THIS HAS BEEN A COMPLAINT TO THE LOCAL DEALER DO TO A SAFETY ISSUE IN WHICH YOU DO NOT SEE WHAT POSITION THE SHIFT INDICATOR IS IN.

THE ONSTAR DIAGNOSTIC CHECK DETERMINED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
THE SECOND ROW SEATS WILL NOT FOLD DOWN FLAT. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS. *TR
WHEN I WENT TO PULL THE YUKON INTO THE DRIVEWAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I BARELY MADE IT INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND STOPPED. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE GM DEALERSHIP. I WAS CALLED WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS AND TOLD THAT THE BRAKE LINES HAD BURST AND HAD CORRUPTED ALL OF THE ROTORS AND THE COST WOULD BE OVER $3K TO REPAIR/REPLACE. NOTE: THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED SEP 2013 AND HAD LESS THAN 1K MILEAGE. I CALLED GM CORPORATE TO ASK FOR RELIEF ON 10/6/14 AND WAS TOLD I WOULD RECEIVE A CALL WITHIN 24 HOURS BY A SENIOR ADVISOR. AFTER NOT HEARING BACK, I CALLED ON 10/10/14 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. I CITIED ALL THE CASES ON LINE ABOUT FAULTY BRAKE LINES AND NHTSA EA11001 AND THE LADY HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF ANY ISSUES. SHE STATED IT WOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE DEALERSHIP AND NOT GM. SHE STATED SHE WOULD CALL THE DEALERSHIP THE SAME DAY AND TURN IT OVER TO THEM. THERE WAS NOTHING GM WOULD DO TO ASSIST SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. PLEASE HELP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED AS WELL AS CORRODED PREMATURELY CAUSING THEM TO FRACTURE. THE BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON A DIVIDED HIGHWAY AND WENT TO SLOW DOWN TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN AND THE BRAKES INITIALLY WORKED BUT AT ABOUT 30 MPH THERE WAS A TOTAL FAILURE AND THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO STAND ON THE PEDAL, SO TO SPEAK, TO GET THE 2005 YUKON TO STOP BEFORE HITTING THE TRAFFIC STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED HOME AND UPON INSPECTION THE BREAK LINE HAD FAILED RIGHT BELOW THE RADIATOR WHERE IT CONNECTS TO A PLASTIC RETAINER CLIP. I WAS AMAZED AT THE FACT WITH ONLY 118,000 MILES I HAD TOTAL RUST THROUGH ON BRAKE LINES. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS ON A VEHICLE AND WOULD EXPECT THE LINES TO LAST LONGER. I LIVE IN SOUTHERN INDIANA ABOUT 40 MILES FOR CINCINNATI, OH. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!! SINCE I REPAIRED THIS FAILURE, THE TRANS LINE AND ANOTHER BRAKE LINE HAVE FAILED DUE TO RUST.!! I HAVE OWNED GM PRODUCTS MY WHOLE LIFE AND HAD A 1998 YUKON WITH 235,000 MI. ON THE TRUCK AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH RUST THROUGH ON THE LINES. I WISH THERE WAS SOMETHING GM WOULD DO TO HELP FIX THIS PROBLEM. I WORRY EVERY TIME I USE THE TRUCK THAT ANOTHER LINE WOULD BREAK AND CAUSE A MASSIVE ACCIDENT. *TR
AT THE INITIAL START UP AND THE FOLLOW ON DRIVE SELECTION OF THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVE SELECTOR INDICATOR ON THE (SPEEDO) SPEED CLUSTER FAILS TO LIGHT UP TO BE ABLE TO SEE THE EXACT GEAR THE VEHICLE IS IN. DURING LOW LIGHT TIMES THE INDICATION IS BARELY VISIBLE AND DAY LIGHT HOURS YOU ARE UNABLE TO SEE THE INDICATION TO ENSURE THE PROPER GEAR OF VEHICLE WHICH COULD RESULT IN SELECTING WRONG GEAR. *JS
BRAKE LINES FAILED WHILE DRIVING THROUGH PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE STOPPED JUST SHORT OF COLLIDING WITH OTHER VEHICLES IN THE LOT. ALL LINES INCLUDING TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES AND LINES FROM CALIPERS TO BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO EXCESSIVE CORROSION. UPDATED 4/24/2015 *JS
THIS IS THE 2ND OCCURRENCE OF THE SAME INCIDENT IN 3 MONTHS. WHILE MOVING SLOWLY THROUGH A PARKING LOT, THE ENGINE JUST STOPS. NO SHUDDER, NO ROUGH IDLE, NO WARNING. WITHOUT POWER, STEERING IS IMPAIRED OR IMPOSSIBLE. TURNING THE IGNITION KEY RESTARTS THE ENGINE NORMALLY. JIGGLING THE KEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT ONE OF THE CYLINDER HEADS HAD FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
REAR LIFT GATE GLASS HINGE CRACKED AS A RESULT REAR GLASS SEPARATED. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
THE SPARE TIRE IS STORED UNDER VEHICLE AND LOWERED FROM BENEATH THE VEHICLE BY A CRANKING A CABLE. IT ALSO HAS A SECONDARY LATCH TO KEEP IT FROM FALLING ON ROAD IF THAT CABLE SHOULD FAIL. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE LATCH IS DESIGNED VERY POORLY AND QUITE SUSCEPTIBLE TO RUSTING FROM ROAD SALT. THIS PREVENTS IT FROM RELEASING THE SPARE TIRE FROM THE VEHICLE. THE REASON THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT THE SPARE TIRE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO USE WITHOUT PRIOR KNOWLEDGE ON EXACTLY HOW TO RELEASE A FROZEN SAFETY LATCH. IT IS VERY UNLIKELY ANYONE WOULD BE ABLE TO DO SO WHILE STRANDED ROADSIDE WITH A FLAT TIRE. IT WOULD AT LEAST GREATLY EXTEND THE AMOUNT OF TIME PERSON WOULD BE WORKING ON THEIR VEHICLE ALONG THE ROAD. *TR
TRACTION ACTIVATION ENGAGES FOR NO REASON USUALLY WHEN STARTING FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND VEHICLE REACHES APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. THE GAS PEDAL LOCKS UP BRIEFLY AND ENGINE APPEARS TO WANT TO DIE, WITHIN A FEW SECONDS THE ACTIVATION LIGHT GOES BACK OUT AND TRUCK IF FINE. IF I DRIVE AN HOUR THIS PROBLEM OCCURS 3 TIMES. MY MECHANIC ADVISED NO RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM FROM GMC. THE CAR WAS CHECKED TWICE WITHIN A WEEK AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON, BUT WHEN TESTED WITH THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING EQUIPMENT I WAS ADVISED IT'S A CENSOR PROBLEM, BUT THE DENALI HAS 4 CENSORS AND THE TESTS CAN'T DETECT WHICH CENSOR IS BAD UNTIL IT GOES OUT COMPLETELY. I WILL CONTACT MY LOCAL GMC DEALER BUT, FROM CHECKING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS FROM PERSONS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PROBLEMS I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT BEING TAKEN FOR A RIDE. NOW I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BEING INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHILE I'M WAITING FOR THIS CENSOR TO TOTALLY GO OUT. GMC KNOWS PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH TRACTION CENSORS AND SHOULD DO THE HONORABLE THING BY RECALLING THESE VEHICLES BEFORE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OCCURS. THE AVERAGE CITIZEN WHO PURCHASES A VEHICLE IN GOOD FAITH SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY HUNDREDS AND OR THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WHILE MECHANICS KEEP CHARGING YOU FOR TESTS THAT AREN'T SOLVING THE PROBLEM. GMC SHOULD REPLACE ALL THE CENSORS SINCE THEIR TESTS CAN'T DETECT WHICH ONE IS BAD. *TR
I WAS PULLING UP TO A STOP LIGHT, AND THE BRAKES WENT OUT. I RAN INTO THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME WHILE GOING BETWEEN 20 TO 25 MPH. THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP SAID MY BRAKE LINE WAS CORRODED AND IT SNAPPED. *TR
THE CONSUMER WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE SEAT BELT DID NOT HOLD, WHICH RESULTED IN HER HITTING THE DASHBOARD. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED SOME BRUISING.

THE FRONT END AIR BAG SENSOR #2 (B0104) GAVE OUT ALONG WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SENSOR (C0760-LR). *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR HATCH LOCK MALFUNCTIONED AND WAS UNABLE TO BE UNLOCKED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE LOCK ACTUATOR MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE LOCK ACTUATOR REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
INTERIOR VEHICLE FIRE IN DASH. 1ST SMOKE THEN CENTER OF DASH ERUPTED INTO FLAMES. VEHICLE IS NOW TOTALLED. GMC IS AWARE OF THIS CONDITION AND ISSUED NO RECALLS. APPEARS SERVICE BULLETINS WERE ISSUED ABOUT REPLACING OVER HEATING RESISTORS FOR THE (HAVC) OPERATING SYSTEM. THE FAN WOULD EITHER STOP WORKING IN A FEW POSITIONS /STOP WORKING ALL TOGETHER OR OVERHEAT AND SET FIRE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS PROVIDING INACCURATE FUEL LEVEL READINGS. THE DEALER DIGNOSED THAT THE FLOAT ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V055000 (POWER TRAIN). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A MANUFACTURER RECALL FOR HIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE BUT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
WHILE DRIVING FROM CHICAGO TO MILWAUKEE ON 1/26/11 MY SPEEDOMETER STARTED TO INDICATE VERY ABNORMAL SPEEDS. MY PORTABLE GPS INDICATED I WAS TRAVELING 62 MPH YET MY YUKON'S SPEEDOMETER READ 110 MPH. WHEN I REACHED MY DESTINATION IN MILWAUKEE AND TURNED MY YUKON OFF, THE SPEEDOMETER REMAINED AT 55 MPH. I IMMEDIATELY GOOGLED FAULTY YUKON SPEEDOMETERS AND FOUND A LARGE QUANTITY OF SITES CONTAINING DEFECT INFORMATION ABOUT GMC YUKON'S SPEEDOMETERS. I ALSO READ THAT GM SUPPOSEDLY SENT OUT LETTERS TO CUSTOMERS. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT I NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER ABOUT THIS. HAVING 3 SMALL CHILDREN I WOULD NOT LET SOMETHING AS SERIOUS AS THIS GO UNFIXED HAD I BEEN MADE AWARE. I AM NOW AT 96,000 MILES AND SEE THAT GM'S "RECALL" ENDS AT 80,000 MILES. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED SO I COULD HAVE HAD THIS REPAIRED. THIS IS EXACTLY ONE OF THE MANY REASONS PEOPLE HAVE LOST FAITH IN GM AND OTHER AMERICAN CAR MANUFACTURERS. *TR
2005 FAULTY GMC YUKON DASH SYSTEM. DEALER ORIGINALLY TOLD ME IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP BUT SUGGESTED IT MIGHT BE ALCOHOL IN THE GASOLINE. I TRIED USING ETHANOL FREE GAS AND IT WORKED. I COULDN'T FIND ANY ETHANOL FREE GAS ON DEC 25TH SO I HAD TO USE 10% ETHANOL AND MY ENTIRE DASH HAS QUIT WORKING. I CAN'T TELL HOW FAST I'M GOING, IF I HAVE FUEL OR HOW MANY MILES I HAVE ON MY VEHICLE. THE GMC DEALERSHIP WANTS ME TO REPLACE MY FUEL PUMP, DASH BOARD AND THEY ESTIMATE IT WILL COST AROUND $1500. IT WORKED FINE WITHOUT ETHANOL! *TR

FOUND TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS POSSIBLY RELATED TO MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE (TSB#050941001; NHTSA#10013456) AND (TSB#PIT-4662; NHTSA#10026744). CALLED GMC SERVICE CENTER; THEY CLAIMED UNABLE TO ASSIST. SUGGESTED TAKING IT TO LOCAL GMC DEALER TO RUN CODES AT MY EXPENSE. AND THEN, POSSIBLY, DEPENDING ON RESULTS/DIAGNOSIS, GMC "MAY" BE ABLE TO OFFER MONETARY ASSISTANCE FOR REPAIRS. SO, FIRST HAVE TO FIND THE TIME AND THE MONEY TO TAKE IT IN. MEANWHILE, TOLD REP I WOULD PROBABLY JUST DISABLE THE SRS. THE LIGHT IS ANNOYING AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS DISABLED ANYWAY WHILE THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. REP SEEMED AMUSED AND SAID THAT HER HANDS ARE TIED.
FAILURE OF REAR WINDOW HINGE IN GMC 2005 YUKON. HINGE AND GLASS SEPARATE, WINDOW IS LOOSE; CAN BE PULLED OFF DUE TO SUCTION FROM OTHER VEHICLES OR THE WIND. CONTACTED GMC, CUSTOMER SERVICE REP, CHRISTIAN, SAID NOT COVERED DUE TO WARRANTY EXPIRED ON VEHICLE, NO RECALL IN EFFECT. I EXPLAINED THERE ARE SEVERAL POSTS ALL WITH THE SAME ISSUE REGARDING THE REAR HINGE FAILING. HE OFFERED TO PROVIDE A SERVICE PROVIDER, BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE EXPENSE OF REPLACING THE ENTIRE BACK GLASS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM TO GMC, SOME POSTS INDICATED COVERED BY DEALERS, OTHERS WERE NOT. ONE LISTING OF BACK GLASS FALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING. THIS OCCURRED WHEN WE OPENED THE BACK GLASS TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE IS GARAGED AT HOME, AND WHILE AT WORK. REAR WINDOW IS RARELY OPENED. NEVER TOWED ANYTHING BEHIND VEHICLE. AS MUCH INFO THAT HAS BEEN WRITTEN ABOUT THIS ISSUE, I'M HOPING GMC WILL RE-CONSIDER AND PLACE A RE-CALL. SOON. ONLY 65K MILES, PURCHASED NEW IN MAY 2005. FUEL GAUGE NOT WORKING, JUMPS ALL OVER THE PLACE... SHOWS HALF TANK AND THEN RISES TO FULL WHILE DRIVING OR THE OTHER WAY AROUND. CALLED GMC AND THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, SAID FUEL PUMP NEEDS REPLACING AND IS HAPPENING ON MANY VEHICLES BUT ITS NOT A RECALL. *TT
I RECENTLY HAD MY VEHICLE IN MY SERVICE DEPT. FOR AN ON-GOING PROBLEM , WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE WOULD LOSE POWER AND NOT MOVE AFTER ABOUT 20 FEET OR SO AND A TRACTION ACTIVE MESSAGE WOULD APPEAR ON THE DISPLAY. THIS WAS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AS THE VEHICLE WOULD END UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH LOSS OF POWER AND CARS BEHIND ME WILL ALMOST RE END MY CAR. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT HAPPENING 6 OR MORE TIME DAILY, WOULD HAPPEN WHEN I WOULD DRIVE FROM A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT. TO REGAIN POWER, YOU HAD TO LET OFF ON THE GAS PEDDLE AND THE DRIVE WOULD RE-ENGAGE. WE HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS FOR A WHILE AND IT GOES AWAY WHEN WE TURN OFF THE STABILITY CONTROL WHICH IT IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY FEATURE KNOWING THAT MY BABIES ARE IN THE TRUCK WITH ME. AFTER DOING A SEARCH THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING MY SAME PROBLEM, THIS IS AS SAFETY HAZARD AND IS GOING TO CAUSE A FATALITY. *LN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON. WHILE PARKED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, THE CONTACT COULD SMELL GASOLINE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. UPON EXAMINATION HE COULD SEE GASOLINE SPRAYING OUT LIKE MIST FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AS GASOLINE BEGAN TO DRIP FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. HE LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM TWO SMALL HOLES PIERCED THROUGH ONE OF THE FUEL LINES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE EXAMINED FOR THE CAUSE OF FAILURE AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A STEERING SHAFT CLANKING NOISE WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN. THE UNIVERSAL IN THE STEERING COLUMN FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE FAILURE BUT HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THEY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE.
