STEEL BRAKE LINE CORROSION CAUSED BRAKE LINE TO RUPTURE CAUSING BRAKES TO FAIL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE STARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE IMPACT AIR BAG SENSORS NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. UPDATED 06/10/14*LJ UPDATED 06/12/2014 *JS
NOISE COMING FROM DRIVERS SIDE LIKE LIFTER NOISE FOUND FIRST TWO BOLTS ON THE HEAD BROKEN FOR THE MANIFOLD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC YUKON DENALI XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD ABNORMALLY UPON ENGAGING. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO DECELERATE UNTIL AFTER THE GEAR LEVER WAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED BRAKE FLUID LEAKING ON THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKE LINE WAS REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE TRANSMISSION OIL LINE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
GOING APPROXIMATELY 5-10 MPH ON A SIDE STREET THE ENGINE SURGED WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK. HAD TO PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK TO STOP. SUV WAS IMMEDIATELY TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP REPORTS NO COMPUTER RECORD OF INCIDENT NOR PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE OR BRAKES OVER A PERIOD OF A WEEK OF TESTING. *TR *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR LIFTGATE WOULD NOT OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTICS WHERE THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE PLASTIC HOUSING AROUND THE CABLE THAT CONTROLLED THE REAR LIFTGATE MECHANISM WAS MELTED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE LATCH MECHANISM PART WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
ON 4/22/2012 MY REAR GLASS WINDOW EXPLODED IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR NO REASON. NO ONE WAS AROUND IT ARE TOUCHED THE VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST 3 HOURS. GOOD THING MY NEWBORN WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE AND THAT I WAS NOT DRIVING. *TR
I HAVE CONSTANTLY HAD TO REPLACE MY BACK BRAKES AND ROTORS DUE TO A INSUFFICIENT ALUMINUM DISC THAT GMC INSTALLED I HAVE RECEIPTS TO PROVE HOW MANY BACK BRAKES IN ROTORS I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE. THANK GOD I WAS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY MY SIX CHILDREN AND I ALMOST LOST ARE LIFE THE BRAKES WENT OUT WE HAD TO VEER OFF INTO THE TERRAIN JUST TO COME TO A STOP IN THE MEAN TIME MY TIRE POPPED FROM ALL THE EXCITEMENT AND ME AND MY KIDS WAS STUCK ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY FOR 6 HOURS BEFORE WE WAS TOWED IN BROUGHT TO SAFETY. I AM ASKING FOR THIS DISC PROBLEM BE REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY FOR MY FAMILY SAFETY. *TR
RECENTLY, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 2006 YUKON DENALI XL W/ A 6.0 ENGINE. THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST SHOWED A GAS CAP PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THIS DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A CLICKING SOUND. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. WHILE IN THE SHOP, THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED 2 BOLTS THAT WERE BROKEN ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND IT WAS FOUND THAT ONE OF THE BOLTS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS BROKEN, BUT THE PASSENGER SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS NOT YET LEAKING. THE AUTO SHOP WAS ABLE TO EXTRACT ONE OF THE BOLTS, BUT HAS FOUND IT IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE THE OTHER ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WITHOUT PULLING THE ENGINE. THIS IS A NECESSARY REPAIR BECAUSE IMPROPER EXHAUST IS A DIRECT VIOLATION OF EPA STANDARDS. FURTHERMORE, ENGINE FIRES CAN RESULT FROM THIS TYPE OF ISSUE. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER GM VEHICLE OWNERS WITH A SIMILAR EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLT PROBLEM. IN FACT, THERE IS A VIDEO CREATED BY CARQUESTIONS ON THIS EXACT ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN HE WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE REAR LIFT GATE. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ACTUATOR FOR THE REAR LIFT GATE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AIRBAG FAILED FUNCTION DUE TO LACK OF INFLATOR PERFORMANCE DURING MY HUSBANDS HEAD-ON CRASH AND HE SUFFERED COLLAR BONE AND RIB FRACTURES,MASSIVE HEAD TRAUMA RESULTING IN A CRAINIOTOMY,BRAIN DAMAGE AND DEATH ONE MONTH LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELLING AT 45MPH ON A PAVED TWO LANE STREET.
AFTER FILLING MY GAS TANK COMPLETELY ON MY 2006 YUKON, THE FUEL GAUGE REGISTERS EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT COMES ON. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN MY GAS TANK GETS BELOW A HALF TANK. THIS IS AN ERRATIC PROBLEM CAUSING CONCERN OVER THE CORRECT LEVEL OF FUEL IN MY VEHICLE. MY PARENTS 2008 TRAILBLAZER ALSO HAS THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. *TR
ALL 4 DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED IN LESS THAN 3 YEARS. THE 2 TODAY TOTAL OVER $500 IN PARTS AND LABOR. *TR
ON AUGUST 31, 2010 WHILE DRIVING NORTH NEAR RED BLUFF, CALIFORNIA ON INTERSTATE 5 (I-5) AT 60 MPH WHEN WE INCURRED A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE RIGHT REAR GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRE ON OUR GMC YUKON DENALI. THESE TIRES ARE OEM TIRES FROM GMC AND HAVE NEVER BEEN OFF THE VEHICLE FOR ANY REPAIRS ' ONLY REGULAR TIRE ROTATIONS. WE IMPACTED NO ROAD HAZARDS TO CAUSE THIS FAILURE AS WITNESSED BY THE FOLLOWING: 1.I OBSERVED NO ROAD HAZARDS PRIOR TO TIRE FAILURE. 2.GRANT - LES SCHWAB TIRE CENTER EMPLOYEE WAS RIGHT BEHIND ME AND OBSERVED NO ROAD HAZARDS. GRANT STOPPED TO ASSIST US WITH CHANGING THE TIRE. 3.THE TIRE BEAD WAS SEPARATED AND SIDEWALL SPLIT YET NO DAMAGE WAS CAUSED TO THE WHEEL RIM AS NOTED BY REDDING, CA. WINGFOOT EMPLOYEES AND GRANT AND DON - LES SCHWAB TIRE CENTER EMPLOYEES. THE LOGIC BEING THAT IF A ROAD HAZARD CAUSED FAILURE OF THE BEAD IT WOULD HAVE DAMAGED THE RIM TOO. I HAVE PICTURES ON FILE. FROM WHAT WINGFOOT AND LES SCHWAB EMPLOYEES PLUS INTERNET ARTICLES TELL ME, THE FAILURE OF THIS TIRE WAS DUE TO A DEFECT IN MANUFACTURING. WITH THIS AND THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY IN MIND, I REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES DESPITE STILL HAVING 50% TREAD LIFE LEFT ON THE GOODYEAR TIRES. THE DAMAGED TIRE WAS DROPPED OFF AT WINGFOOT, LLC REDDING, CALIFORNIA FOR FEDEX PICKUP TO THE GOODYEAR FACTORY FOR EXAMINATION. I HAVE RECEIVED A CLAIM DENIAL LETTER FROM GOODYEAR AFTER TIRE EXAMINATION STATING THAT OVER DEFLECTION CAUSED THE TIRE FAILURE. LOGIC DOES NOT HOLD TRUE FOR THIS DETERMINATION. IF TRAVELING ON A STRAIGHT HIGHWAY THE TIRE OVER DEFLECTION WOULD HAVE OCCURRED TO THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE DAMAGING IT AS WELL AS THE RIGHT REAR BUT ONLY THE RIGHT REAR TIRE SUFFERED A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. *TR
A PANASONIC DVD PLAYER, FACTORY EQUIPMENT AND INSTALL, IS SITTING BEHIND THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND 1/3 WAY INTO THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT. IT HANGS DOWN ABOUT 4". MY 4 YEAR OLD SON IS UNABLE TO GET INTO HIS CAR SEAT WITHOUT HITTING HIS HEAD. I HIT MY HEAD WHILE ENTERING THE CAR AND RECEIVED A CONCUSSION. I HAVE PERMANENT BRAIN DAMAGE AND DISABILITIES NOW. GMC IS AWARE OF THE SAFETY ISSUE, (DEALER REP) BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. THE STYLE OF DVD PLAYER WAS CHANGED TO A SMALLER SIZE AND SET IN THE CENTER FRONT. WHAT ARE THE HEAD ROOM STANDARDS? PLEASE! THE DEALER ADMITS FAULT, BUT IS ONLY WILLING TO GIVE ME A "GOOD DEAL" ON A TRADE IN. FAILED COMPONENTS DID NOT HAVE MY ISSUE. SELECTED ANOTHER TO SEND COMPLAINT. *TR UPDATED IVOQ 03/06/12
WHEN I AM STARTING OUT OR TURNING A CORNER THE VEHICLE WILL INTERMITTENTLY BOG DOWN. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT 5-6 YEARS. I HAD TAKEN IT TO A DEALERSHIP IN COLUMBUS OHIO WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A PROBLEM IN THE STEERING COLUMN BUT NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. IT WAS GOING TO COST ME $300 TO HAVE FIXED. THIS SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR TO THE TWO COMPLAINTS MADE 1/11/2010 NHTSA ID#10299018 AND 9/21/2015 NHTSA ID#10766680. THIS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE STABILITRAK SYSTEM. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED BY A DEALERSHIP NO QUESTIONS ASKED. I JUST DISCONNECT IT AT THE DASH AND PUT UP WITH THE YELLOW WARNING LIGHT. FOR A GM VEHICLE THAT LISTED FOR $58,735 11 YEARS AGO I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH GM. THE SUNROOF HAS NOT WORKED FOR YEARS ( A $1,000 FIX ITEM) REPLACED THE FAN BLOWER MOTOR (SOMEWHERE AROUND $400+) AND I ONLY HAVE 109,000 MILES ON IT. THE NOTED ITEMS OCCURRING IN THE 50-75,000 MILE RANGE. I CAN SEE WHY HONDA, ACURA, TOYOTA AND LEXUS HAVE SUCH A GREAT FOLLOWING. THEY LEAD AND I WILL FOLLOW WITH MY NEXT VEHICLE.
INTERMITTENTLY, WHEN MY 2006 GMC YUKON DENALI XL IS AT A STOP LIGHT OR SIGN AND I AM DRIVING LESS THAN 10MPH AND I GO TO ACCELERATE (NOT SPINNING THE TIRES AND NOT ON WET OR SLIPPERY SURFACES) THE "TRACTION ACTIVE" MESSAGE DISPLAYS AND I LOSE ALL POWER FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS. THIS MANY TIMES HAS LEFT ME IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WITH ON-COMING TRAFFIC. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS TRACTION ACTIVE AND THERE ARE MANY ARTICLES FROM OTHER YUKON OWNERS STATING THEY HAVE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE THAT I AM HAVING. I PRINTED OFF 9 PAGES AND TOOK TO MY DEALER/SERVICE DEPARTMENT (SIMMONS ROCKWELL IN BATH, NY) AND AFTER LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE, THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I EVEN SUPPLIED THEM WITH AN ABS RECALL DOCUMENT ID # 1819672 OF WHICH THE SUBJECT IS 'PRODUCT SAFETY ' FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CORROSION #05068B. THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE A CONDITION PERMITTING CORROSION TO OCCUR BETWEEN THE FRONT HUB/BEARING ASSEMBLY AND THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR. IF THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF GREATER THAN 3.7 MPH BUT LESS THAN 10 MPH, THE CORROSION MAY CAUSE AN UNWANTED ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ACTIVATION. IF THIS CONDITION OCCURRED WHERE STOPPING DISTANCE IS LIMITED, A CRASH COULD OCCUR.' MY DEALER SAID THE COMPUTER DIDN'T SHOW ANY ISSUES, BUT AS SOON AS I DROVE HOME IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I DON'T THINK MY DEALER EVEN LOOKED AT THE DOCUMENTS I PROVIDED TO THEM TO HELP THEM DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND I WONDER HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH GMC YUKONS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND HAVE JUST NOT DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
REAR LATCH HAS BROKEN OFF OF THE VEHICLE TWICE NOW. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC YUKON DENALI. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A TELEPHONE POLE, IT BROKE AND FELL ON THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER IS TRYING TO ORDER PARTS AND THE ROOF SKIN; HOWEVER, THE GM MANUFACTURER DOES NOT HAVE IT IN STOCK AND DOESN'T KNOW WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAS BEEN WAITING FOR THE PARTS SINCE OCTOBER 26, 2009. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000. UPDATED 02/17/10. *LJ UPDATED 02/18/10
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC YUKON XL 1500. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE SIDE WALL BLEW OUT. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, HE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE NEAREST SERVICE STATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND THREE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE TIRE DEALER ADVISED HIM TO SPEAK WITH THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE FAILED TIRE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 25,358. THE TIRE WAS FIRESTONE, TIRE LINE WILDERNESS LE, SIZE P-265-70-R16, AND THE DOT IS 11M-S.
THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING AT APPROX. 45 MPH ON SECONDARY ROAD WHEN ALL LIGHTS DIMMED AND THE VEHICLE POWER WENT DOWN TO ALMOST NOTHING. THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WENT OUT AND I HAD TO PULL OFF OF THE HIGHWAY. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES, THEN RE-STARTED WHICH SEEMED TO HAVE RE-SET THINGS. IT RAN OK TO MY DESTINATION. BUT SINCE THEN (A YEAR OR SO) IT BOGS DOWN WHEN STARTING OUT FROM IDLE SUCH AS A TRAFFIC LIGHT, AND THE LIGHTS DIM. AT THE SAME TIME, IT MAKES A GRINDING SOUND AS IF FROM THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDDLE BECOMES STIFF AS THOUGH IT IS TRYING TO OFFSET MY BRAKING. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE STABILITY INDICATOR STATES "TRACTION ACTIVE". ONCE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING AGAIN, IT WILL GO OFF AND THE VEHICLE WILL ACT NORMALLY. I DISCOVERED THAT MANUALLY OVER-RIDING THE TRACTION (SHUTTING IT OFF), IT ELIMINATES THE HESITATION. BUT IT STILL MAKES THE GRINDING/GROANING SOUND ALONG WITH THE BRAKE ISSUE. ONCE IS GETS UP TO SPEED, EVERYTHING IS FINE. ALL OF THIS IS JUST ON STARTING OUT AFTER A STOP. WE HAVE HEARD OTHERS THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IT RESOLVED. IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM, BUT NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUES TO MY KNOWLEDGE. IT IS A REAL DANGER WHEN TRYING TO START ONTO A HIGHWAY OR INTERSECTION.
MY 22 MONTH OLD GRANDSON WAS SITTING IN MY 2006 GMC YUKON PRETENDING TO DRIVE. MY VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING THE KEYS WERE IN THE VEHICLE THE RADIO WAS PLAYING, I WAS STANDING 3 FEET FROM THE VEHICLE WITH MY BACK TO IT. I HEARD THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT. I TURNED TO SEE THE VEHICLE ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. LUCKILY I HAVE A SHORT DRIVEWAY AND LIVE ON A CUL-DE-SAC. BY THE TIME I CAUGHT THE VEHICLE AND PUSHED THE E BRAKE TO STOP IT I WAS AT THE END OF MY DRIVE WAY. I THOUGHT I HAD TO PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK AND INTO GEAR OR NEUTRAL. WHICH IS TRUE UNLESS THE KEY IS PUT INTO ACC MODE. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE DEALER AND THE SERVICE WRITER AND GM CERTIFIED MECHANIC DIDN'T KNOW THAT IF A VEHICLES KEY WAS IN ACC MODE ANYONE CAN SHIFT THE GEARS AROUND. EVEN MY 22 MONTH OLD GRAND SON A SAFETY FEATURE FOR GM VEHICLES IS A PERSON HAS TO STEP ON THE BRAKE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK. THE SERVICE WRITER AND MECHANIC CHECKED A FEW OTHER VEHICLE AROUND THE SHOP AND FOUND THIS TO WORK ON EVERYONE THEY TRIED. SO MUCH FOR THE SAFETY FEATURE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 YUKON DENALI. WHEN DRIVING THE TRACTION ACTIVE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL, AND THEN VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT PROVIDE A REMEDY, BECAUSE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 49000.
ONE OF THE OWNERS OF THE CAR WAS DRIVING IT TO WORK WHEN THE CAR STOPPED PULLING AND WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS. BEFORE THIS HAPPENED, ON A FEW OCCASIONS THE CAR HAD TO GET A JUMP FROM ANOTHER CAR TO START. LAST, THE LIGHTER DID NOT WORK. WHEN THE OWNER GOT OFF WORK IN THE MORNING HE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE CHECKED. LATER THAT DAY THE OWNER WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AND THE PART WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE OWNER WAS ALSO TOLD THAT HE COULD NOT GET A RENTAL CAR. THE NEXT DAY THE OWNER WAS TOLD THAT HEADQUARTERS DIDN'T WANT TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION BUT HE COULD GET A RENTAL. LATER IN THE WEEK THE OWNER WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE RENTAL CAR BACK AND THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT GOING TO PAY FOR THE RENTAL. THE OWNER DOES NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND BELIEVES HE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS DUE TO THE FACT THE CAR IS NOT THREE YEARS OLD UNTIL THE END OF JANUARY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BLOWER MOTOR FAILED. THE BLOWER MOTOR CAUSED THE WINDSHIELD NOT TO BE ABLE TO DEFROST AND THE HEATHER TO FAIL. IN ADDITION, THE REAR DOOR LOCK FAILED AND COULD NOT BE OPENED OR LOCKED/UNLOCKED MANUALLY OR WHEN USING THE ELECTRONIC KEY REMOTE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

ON JUNE 18, 2008 I BLEW MY FRONT AXLE OUT PUSHING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID OUT TAKING 4TH GEAR OUT OF MY TRANSMISSION. GMC HAS MY YUKON NOW REPAIRING @ $4,000.00 CLAIMING MIDAS IS AT FAULT AND MIDAS IS CLAIMING GMC IS AT FAULT. *TR

2006 GMC YUKON XL - PURCHASED IN JAN. 2006, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE 1 MONTH AFTER TAKING DELIVERY FOR FOUL SMELL EMITTING FROM VEHICLE WHILE MOVING. IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL PRODUCING THE ODOR, THEY CHANGED THE FLUID TO THE OLD SYNTHETIC TYPE, AND CLAIMED IT WAS THE SMELL OF THE GRAPE SEED EXTRACT USED IN THE ORGANIC NEW TYPE FLUID. THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM, THE NEXT TIME THE SERVICE CENTER TRIED AN OIL WHICH HAD A HIGHER HEAT RATING, THIS DID NOT FIX THE SMELL PROBLEM. ON THE 4TH VISIT TO THE SERVICE CENTER AND AFTER OPENING A CUSTOMER CLAIMS CASE WITH GM, THEY REBUILT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. THIS SEEMED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT THE FIRST 6-8 MONTHS, THE SMELL RETURNED AND GOT SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE UNTIL I OPENED ANOTHER CASE WITHGM CUSTOMER CLAIMS. WHILE WORKING WITH THEM THE DIFFERENTIAL WENT OUT ON THE VEHICLE LEAVING ME TO RENT A CAR ON MY OWN UNTIL GM DECIDED WHAT THEY WERE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT. I AM CURRENTLY IN A BBB CASE WITH GM.
WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP THE VEHICLE GOES INTO TRACTION CONTROL FOR NO REASON STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. THE DISPLAY FLASHES TRACTION ACTIVE EVEN THOUGH THE PAVEMENT IS DRY AND FREE OF LOOSE DEBRIS. YOU HAVE TO LET THE ACCELERATOR GO AND RE-ACCELERATE TO DEACTIVATE THE TRACTION CONTROL, LEAVING YOU STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. GM HAD A RECALL FOR LARGE SUVS AND PICK-UPS WITH A VERY SIMILAR PROBLEM, THE ONLY DIFFERENCE WAS THE DISPLAY FLASHED AN ABS FAULT BUT THE REPAIR FOR THAT RECALL WAS EXACTLY THE SAME AS FOR THE TRACTION ACTIVE FAULT. ABS IS PART OF THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM, SO JUST BECAUSE GM FOUND A WAY TO THROW A DIFFERENT CODE FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THEY'RE NOT OBLIGATED TO TAKE CARE OF THIS POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT LEAVES YOU IN NO CONTROL OF YOUR VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHILE MOVING FROM A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS HURT OR DEAD FROM GETTING T-BONED BECAUSE THEY CAN'T GET OUT THE WAY. *TR
2006 YUKON MAKES A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL, VIBRATION IS ALSO NOTICED WHEN DRIVING 65 MPH. *TS A MONTH AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED THE CONSUMER STARTED TO NOTICED NOISES COMING FROM THE FRONT END. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SERVICE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THE UPPER AND LOWER CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER REPAIRS OF THE CONTROL ARM THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED AND THEY REPLACED THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE WHICH THEY CLAIMED WAS DEFECTIVE FROM THE FACTORY. ONE WEEK LATER THE CONSUMER NOTICED A CLUNKING NOISE IN THE FRONT END. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE RIGHT REAR UPPER AND LOWER CONTROL ARM WERE BAD FROM THE FACTORY. THE PARTS WERE ORDERED AND REPLACED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER BEING SERVICED THE TECHNICIAN DIDN'T COVER THE SEAT WHILE WORKING AND GOT OIL ON THE SEAT AND STEERING WHEEL. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ENTIRE SEAT WITH A SEAT ON THEIR LOT. THE CONSUMER NEVER AUTHORIZED THEM TO DO THAT. NOW THE SEAT IS MAKING A CLUNKING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHO CLAIMED THAT THE SEAT IS BROKEN AND THAT ALL THE 2006 YUKON DENALI SEAT ARE BROKEN. THE SEAR WAS TAKEN APART AND LONGER BOLTS WERE USED TO SECURED THE SEAT. THE SEAT IS STILL BROKEN. THE DEALER ALSO REPLACED THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH IS NOW MAKING NOISE. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE STEERING BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT THAT THE REPLACEMENT IS NOISIER THAN THE ORIGINAL. THE DASH HAS BEGUN TO PEEL. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT ALL YUKON DENALI DASHES ARE PEELING. THE DASH WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE. THE ENGINE SOUNDS AS IS A LIFTER IS OFF. THE VEHICLE PULLS TO THE LEFT.
BONDDOGBONDDOG AUGUST 2006 EDITED JUNE 2015 IN GMC I PURCHASED MY 2006 YUKON LAST SEPTEMBER 2005. I NOW HAVE 24,000 MILES ON IT. OVER THE LAST MONTH I HAVE HAD IT INTO THE DEALER THREE TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT WILL SUDDENLY LOSE ALMOST ALL POWER. THE INFORMATION CENTER WILL DISPLAY THE MESSAGES: "STABILITY CONTROL DISABLED", "ENGINE POWER REDUCED". AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO OVER 20 MPH ON A LEVEL SURFACE AND BEARLY 3 MPH UP A MODERATELY STEEP HILL. EACH TIME I HAVE HAD IT INTO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR THEY HAVE BEEEN STUMPED BY WHAT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM IS. THEY SAID THAT GM/GMC TOLD THEM THAT "GM IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR IT AT THIS TIME". HOW CAN A MANUFACTURER SELL A VEHICLE THAT HAS A DEFECT AND NOT HAVE A FIX FOR IT? WHEN THE POWER GOES OUT IN A BUSY INTERSECTION OR ON A HIGHWAY THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM.
