This is the 2nd GMC Yukon with a faulty drivetrain I've acquired in 3 years. Both occasions were directly after the vehicle had professional service done related to the faulty system. The transmissions was fully serviced at reputable repair shops and within a month or 2, without warning, the transmissions started having mechanical issues without DTC being triggered. As well as a 2004 Buick Rendezvous with less than 70k miles on it. The 2001 GMC Yukon suddenly lost reverse and park while driving and imploded the transmission in the process. The 2004 Buick Rendezvous started slipping and ceased to move by it's own power when at operating temperature. The 2006 GMC Yukon Denali stopped shifting gears while on the freeway at 55 mph and systematically lost all moving gears within a day also while at operating temperature.
My GMC YukonXL Denali has faulty fuel gauges therefore there is no way I can determine if I'm are out of gas or not. Sometimes it displays that my tank is on empty and sometimes it display that I am full. I found online that over time, the contacts in the fuel-level sensor could wear and cause an incorrect reading on the gas gauge. In 2011 GM said that they would pay to repair.
The Brake lines are not coded so the brake line rusted and when brakes got applied they burst causing accidents for no pressure and can’t stop. Air bags light stays on and will not go out. I have put new lights bulbs in truck but lights are still dim.
IT HAPPENED REPEATEDLY NOW WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY THE STEERING WOULD GET SLOPPY AT RANDOM MOMENTS AND KEEPING THE VEHICLE IN ITS LANE BECOMES DIFFICULT. I REPLACED TIE RODS INNER & OUTER, UPPER/LOWER BALL JOINTS PITMAN ARM AND IDLER, SWAYBAR LINKS SHOCKS/STRUTS. I EVEN HAD TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS LOOK AT THE STEERING COMPONENTS. BOTH SAID EVERYTHING IS IN GOOD SHAPE. THIS ONLY HAPPENS AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK A MONTH AGO
DRIVER SEAT NOT MOVING FORWARD I'VE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ALSO THE GAS GAUGE ISN'T WORK NOR IS THE SPEEDOMETER WE REPLACED STEPPING MOTORS STILL NOT WORKING THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD KNOWING HOW FAST I'M GOING..
CODES P1516, P2135, AND P0120 HAVE RETURNED FOR A THIRD TIME. I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR WENT INTO REDUCED POWER MODE. LUCKILY, I WAS JUST A MILE AWAY FROM HOME AND LIMPED MY CAR HOME. I'VE SINCE CLEANED THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR AND THROTTLE BODY. I'VE CHANGED OUT THE TPS AND ACCELERATION SENSOR. I'VE CHECKED ALL MY GROUNDS AND THESE CODES KEEP COMING BACK. I'VE NOTICED OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUES WHICH IS WHY I DID THE STEPS LISTED ABOVE. I'VE TAKEN IT TO A MECHANIC WHO SAID THAT I DID EVERY STEP THEY'VE WOULD HAVE DONE TO TROUBLESHOOT THIS PROBLEM. SOMEONE FROM GM NEEDS TO THIS ISSUE, AS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT THIS IS OCCURRING TO.
FULL BRAKE FAILURE IN 7/19 AND AGAIN IN 10/19. WE WERE ABLE TO AVOID HITTING OTHER VEHICLE AS LITTLE TRAFFIC. HAD THEM COMPLETELY REPAIRED BOTH TIMES. 1/20 BRAKES FAILED AGAIN CAUSING US TO AVOID HITTING OTHER VEHICLES BY JUMPING A CURB AND HITTING A MILE MARKER SIGN A PARKWAY. THAT IS 3 BRAKES FAILURES IN 7 MONTHS. VEHICLE IS NOW TOTALED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A HUGE ISSUE! NO INJURIES, THANK GOD!
MY STABILITY TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM ENGAGES IN DRY WEATHER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, ADDITIONALLY, THE SYSTEM ENGAGES AT MODERATE SPEEDS WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SLOW SPEEDS IN TRAFFIC. ALSO, THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES ENGAGE IN DRY WEATHER AT SLOW SPEEDS WHEN BRAKING. THESE SITUATIONS HAVE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS FOR THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS
BRAKES FAILED WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS OR AND KIND OF INDICATION . FLUID DRIPPING OUT REAR OF VEHICLE. I WAS ALMOST IN A BAD ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS ,ALSO WENT INTO A PANIC ATTACK. HAD OTHER PEOPLE AND MY LIFE IN DANGER.
THE PASSENGER SIDE UNDER DASH BORED CAUGHT ON FIRE. WILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET IT STARTED TO SMOKE AND I SAW FLAM. I WAS ABLE TO PUT FLAM OUT AND LUCKY WAS A BLOCK FROM HOME. I PARKED IT TURNED IT OFF IT SEAMED LIKE THE FIRE WAS OUT AND NO SMOKE .ABOUT 15 MIN LATER I GO OUT SIDE AND MY TRUCK IS IN FIRE IT BURNT THE WHOLE IN SIDE OF CAB. I BELIEVE IT WAS THE MOTER BLOWER THAT SET ON FIRE DUE TO THATS WERE FIRE CAME FROM .AS WELL WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT STILL PERFECT CONDITION. SO ALL FIRE DAMAGE I'S COMPLETEY INSIDE SUV WERE THE MOTER BLOWER IS .

THE TRACTION ACTIVE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ALSO, WHEN MAKING TURNS, THE STEERING WHEEL MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
REAR LIFT GLASS HINGES ARE DEFECTIVE AND GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE ISSUES FOR YEARS AND HAS NOT ISSUED ANY RECALL TO REPLACE. POOR DESIGN IS THE PROBLEM. GLASS FLEW OFF WHILE DRIVING IN NORMAL CONDITIONS. SAFELITE AUTO (972.379-2704) REPLACED GLASS ON 6/16/18. DEFECTIVE HINGE BROKE AGAIN, ON 7/3/18. SAFELITE REPLACED GLASS WITH OEM PART. DEFECTIVE HINGE FAILED AGAIN FROM OEM PART ON 7/11/18. SAFELITE CONTACT LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP, (CLASSIC CHEVY, PLANO, TX, 469.685.1560). ANOTHER OEM PART WILL BE REPLACED ON 7/16/18. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. KNOWN PROBLEM, BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO RUSTED BRAKE LINES. NEARLY HAD A REAR EMD COLLISION WHEN THEY FAILED TRYING TO STOP AT 50 MPH. A LARGE TRUCK WAS DISABLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I SWERVED INTO THE LEFT LANE, SINCE I COULDN STOP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC YUKON XL. WHILE AT A STOP, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED EVENTUALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED AN ON-SCREEN DRIVING TEST, BUT WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE FAILURE CODES. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED (JOHN PAUL'S GMC, GREENFIELD, WI, 414-482-6246) AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD NOT DUPLICATED BECAUSE THE DEALER USED THE SAME DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM AS THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 180,000.
EXHAUST LEAK BOLT BROKEN PASSENGER SIDE
MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY CAR LOST POWER TO 30 MPH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO 5 MPH.I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR TRYING TO GAIN SPEED WITHOUT SUCCESS THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE MORE THAN 30 MPH, NO MATTER HOW MUCH I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR. WHEN I LOOKED DOWN AT THE DASHBOARD I SAW TWO WARNING LIGHTS GO OFF "STABILITY SYS DISABLED" FOLLOWED BY "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO SAFETY. THE ROAD WAS DRY AND NO BUMPS TO DISABLE STABILITY. THE TRACTION CONTROL IN THIS VEHICLE IS LOCATED FAR FROM MY STEERING WHEEL SO I KNOW I DID NOT ACCIDENTLY HIT THE TRACTION CONTROL BY ACCIDENT. AFTER I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER I WAS ADVISED TO HIT THE TRACTION CONTROL BUTTON TO SEE IF THAT WOULD FIX THE ERROR IN THE DASH. THAT DID NOT WORK. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE DEALER CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY AND THAT OF MY FAMILY. THE DEALER HAS HAD MY FOR SEVERAL DAYS RETURNED MY CAR BACK ONCE STATING THAT IT WAS DUE TO MASTER AIR FLOW SENSOR ALONG WITH THE AIR FILTER ONCE THOSE PARTS WERE REPLACED I PICKED UP MY CAR AS SOON AS I PICKED UP THE CAR AND DROVE IT AROUND THE CORNER I EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. I DROVE IT BACK TO THE DEALER AT 5 MPH AS I WAS NOT ABLE TO GO ANY FASTER NO MATER HOW MUCH I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR. 2ND TIME THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME I WAS TOLD IT WAS JUST THE BUTTERFLY IN THE THROTTLE BODY AND THAT IT WAS REPLACED FOR A NEW ONE. I WAS DRIVING AWAY AND GOT JUST A LITTLE FARTHER THAN THE FIRST TIME WHEN I GOT THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE AGAIN I DROVE IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY THEY REPLACED THAT BUT ITS STILL HAVING ISSUES. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD WHILE DRIVING I WANT THIS NOTED IN CASE THERE IS A MAJOR ACCIDENT WITH FATALITIES.
FROM THE STOPPED POSITION GAS PEDAL GOES DEAD AT ACCELLERATION. THIS IS SUPER DANGEROUS WHEN MOVING ONTO A TRAFFIC SITUATION. THE VECHICLE STALL AND A GRINGDING SOUND APPEARS. THIS HAPPEN I NTERMITENTLY. GMC RECALLED OUTH GMC YUKONS TO CORRECT THIS DEFFECT BUT NOT MINE. PLEASE HELP
SEVERE BRAKE LINE CORROSION AND CORROSION AT WHEEL SPEED SENSORS CAUSES ABS TO ACTIVATE AT LOW SPEEDS. I HAD 2 NEAR MISS CRASHES AND THEN CAR WOULD NOT STOP AND I HIT A FENCE IN MY YARD YESTERDAY. I HAVE 4 OTHER VEHICLES , A DODGE, BMW, AND 2 HONDA, ALL OLDER THAN THIS ONE, AND DO NOT HAVE THE. CORROSION ON THE BRAKE LINES. THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE MATERIAL USED IN THE GMC BRAKE LINES THAT CAUSES IT TO SEVERELY CORRODE. MALFUNCTION OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY.
TRACTION CONTROL IS COMING ON WHEN I TAKE OFF FROM A COMPLETE STOP CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE SPEED. I WAS ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS!
I'M HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE HUB BEING DAMAGED NOTICED A RECALL HOWEVER WHEN I LOOKED AT MY VIN NUMBER IT DID NOT COME UP. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AS IT IS VERY COSTLY FOR ME TO FIX AND I'M NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER SO THEREFORE I WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT IF THIS HUB PROBLEM WITH AXEL WAS EVER FIXED I ALSO HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS LINE IN THE PAST AND NOTICED THERE IS A RECALL FOR THAT WHICH I DID NOT HAVE LISTED UNDER MY VIN NUMBER EITHER CAN SOMEONE PLEASE WRITE ME BACK AND LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WOULD BE COVERED. BRAKE LINES VERY RUSTED AND LEAKING FLUID BOTH FRONT TO REAR LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HAD TO ALSO REPLACE REAR BRAKE PADS & ROTORS THEY WERE PITTED AND GROOVED. NEEDED TO PERFORM BRAKE FLUID FLUSH , BOTH REAR AXLE SEALS LEAKING & REAR COVER GASKET SEAL LEAKING ON PARKING BRAKE SHOES ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HEARD THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH OLDER MODLE SUV'S AND HAD MINE LOOKED AT AND WAS ADVISED NOT TO DRIVE UNTIL THESE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED. I HAVE ALL REPAIR INVOICES TO VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING MY SUV ON THE FREEWAY, THE ABS ,TRACTION CONTROLL,BRAKE LITE ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STARTED FLASHING AND CHIMING. SERVICE STABILITY WAS FLASHING ON THE DIC. THE DEALER SAID THE ABS MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS A LOSS OF HVAC CONTROLL ,NO AC AND VENTILLATION OR HEATING,LOSS OF CRUISE CONTROL. PLEASE ADVICE.
EXHAUST LEAK. BOLT BROKEN ON DRIVER SIDE
ROOF HAS CONSTANT LEAK WHEN IT RAINS. IT LEAKS THROUGH THE FRONT SIDE ON DASHBOARD/RADIO, AND THROUGH DVD PLAYER LOCATED ON ROOF. WE HAVE TO COVER VEHICLE EACH TIME WE HEAR IT IS GOING TO RAIN. I HAVE SEEN THERE ARE MILLIONS OF OTHER DRIVERS WITH YUKONS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. CHECKING TO SEE IF THIS WOULD BE AN ISSUE GMC WOULD RESOLVE FOR OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES? Driver side steering wheel safety air bag defective, warning light on dashboard says not functioning. Nervous about driving vehicle if there is a collision. Gas gauge misreads fuel level and check engine warning light keeps coming on. Ran out of fuel a few times. Has been checks problem keeps coming back on both.
OIL SENDING UNIT... REPLACED 3 TIMES SINCE I'VE OWNED THE TRUCK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS NOT OPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT POWER OFF EVEN WHEN SHIFTED IN THE OFF POSITION. THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY MUST BE DISCONNECTED TO POWER OFF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURES WERE INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BLOWER MOTOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS MADE; HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE BLOWER MOTOR HAD BEEN DISCONTINUED AND THAT THERE WAS AN UPDATED MODEL. THE GOOD CHEVROLET DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT FOR THE HVAC. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT AND REFERRED TO CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.
MY FATHER WAS DRIVING FROM DIALYSIS ON THE DECLINE OF A BRIDGE WHEN HE PASSED OUT BEHIND THE WHEEL. HE WAS WEARING HIS SEATBELT, AND THE VEHICLE RESTED AFTER HITING A TREE. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC AND THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION PENDING, THEY HAVE SENT A REPRESENTAIVE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND I AM AWAITING THE OUTCOME. WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP OR AT A SLOW SPEED THE CAR STALLS LIKE ITS RUNNING OUT OF GAS, WHEN THAT HAPPENS ON THE DIAGNOSTIC CENTER ON THE CAR READS "TRACTION ACTIVE", AND THEN CAR BEHIND ME BLOWS THEIR HORN TELLING ME TO MOVE, THEN THE CAR TAKES OFF. ITS REALLY SCARY WHEN I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC IN THE INTERSECTION OR TRYING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND TRYING TO GO AND IT STALLS. SOONER OR LATER SOMEONE IS GOING TO RUN INTO THE BACK OF ME OR WHEN I'M IN THE INTERSECTION I WILL BE T-BONE AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED. I TOOK IT TO THE GM REPAIR CENTER AT ART MORAN 9/10/2015 AND THEY TELL ME THERE'S NOTHING WRONG. THE SERVICE ADVISOR REGGIE GARRETT ASK IF THEIR WAS A CERTAIN TIME IT WOULD ACT LIKE THIS AND I TOLD HIM IT SEEMS LIKE WHEN ITS HOT OUTSIDE IS WHEN I NOTICE IT. THEN, THE VERY NEXT MORNING ABOUT A HALF MILE INTO THE DRIVE IT DID THE SAME THING. SO I CALLED REGGIE UP AND TOLD HIM IT DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE IF ITS HOT OUTSIDE OR COOL IT DOES THE SAME THING, AND THIS IS ALL WHILE I'M ON MY WAY OVER TO THEIR REPAIR SHOP IT DID THIS 7 TIME ALL AT DEAD STOPS OR SLOW SPEEDS. ONCE I MADE IT TO THE SHOP I ASK REGGIE TO GET HIS TECH. TO DRIVE IT WITH HIS SCANNER PLUGGED IN, BUT HE SUGGESTED I DRIVE IT BUT WHEN IT DID IT THE SCANNER DIDN'T RECORD IT. I GOING BACK THERE THIS WEEK AND ON THE WAY I'M GOING TO RECORD IT ON CAMERA IN AN EFFORT TO DOCUMENT WHAT GOING ON.
ON APRIL 2 2015 I EXPERIENCED "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" WHILE TAKING MY DAUGHTER TO URGENT CARE. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD OVER $2000 WORK WITH MANY DIFFERENT REPAIRMEN INVOLVED. GM ADVISED THEY WERE SORRY BUT NO RECALLS - NOTHING THEY WOULD DO TO HELP. NUMEROUS TIMES, WE HAVE COME CLOSE TO BEING INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN IT OCCURS. WE WILL BE DRIVING AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED, HEAR A BING AND SEE REDUCED ENGINE POWER FLASH ON DISPLAY. VEHICLE WILL IMMEDIATELY GO FROM ORIGINAL SPEED TO NO MORE THAN 30-40 MPH - NO WARNING. IT IS UNSAFE TO BE ON A BUSY ROAD AS ANYONE COULD REAR END US, KILLING MY FAMILY
AGAIN, I AM WRITING. I IMPLORE YOU TO REINVESTIGATION GMC FOR RUSTED BRAKE LINES. WE REPLACED OURS AFTER THEY WERE SO RUSTED, BEING A CAMPING FAMILY, TOWING A TRAILER WE COULD HAVE ALL DIED. I UNDERSTAND THAT YOUR OFFICE HAS INVESTIGATED THIS AND FOR WHATEVER REASON DETERMINED IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR BUT I THINK THAT YOUR DEPARTMENT IS ON OVERLOAD AND DIDN'T WANT TO HANDLE ANOTHER GM RECALL. GM AND CONSUMERS KNOW THAT THE COMPANY GOT AWAY WITH NOT ISSUING A RECALL. YES, I AM ANGRY AT THE $800 WE HAD TO PAY TO REPAIR THIS BUT I AM MORE ANGRY THAT AFTER GM WAS CONTACTED FOR REIMBURSEMENT I GOT NO WHERE AND THEY WERE SNARKY AND ADMITTED AS MUCH THAT THEY WEREN'T MADE TO BE RESPONSIBLE. ALSO THE REMOTE CONTROLS HAVE HAD TO BE RE-KEYED MANY TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS THE ACTUATOR ORIGINALLY REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY STATING THE SERVICE ADVISER "MADE A MISTAKE" AND THE $495.00 WAS IN FACT NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THIS WOULD INDEED HAVE LED TO VERY AN UNFORTUNATE ENDING HAD I BEEN DRIVING AND/OR WITH PASSENGERS AND AN INCIDENT OCCURRED. AFTER A FULL DAY OF DRIVING WITH MY CHILD IN THE CAR I WENT OUT ON MY OWN TO GET HIM MEDICINE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT THE END OF MY BLOCK THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT FUNNY. I WENT TO THE NEXT STOP SIGN AND ATTEMPTED TO STOP AND MY VEHICLE WOULDN'T STOP. I ENDED UP ROLLING RIGHT INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. I REALIZED THERE WAS A BIG PROBLEM SO CRAWLED BACK TO MY DRIVEWAY. I THEN NOTICED THE WHOLE UNDERSIDE OF MY VEHICLE WAS WET AND NOW MY DRIVEWAY WAS SOAKED WITH BRAKE FLUID. ONE OF THE STEEL LINES BURST. AFTER I LOOKED AT THEM I NOTICED THEY ARE ALL RUSTED AND IN VERY BAD SHAPE. I NOW HAVE A MECHANIC HAVING TO REPLACE ALL THE BRAKE LINES IN THE CAR SO THAT I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING MY 1 YEAR OLD AROUND WITH NO BRAKES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC YUKON XL 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VENTILATION SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED PREVENTING THE CONTACT FROM TURNING THE A/C AND OR HEATER ON. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE REAR VENTILATION WAS WORKING PROPERLY BUT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURN OFF THE EXHAUST FAN WAS STILL BLOWING. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT BURNING FUMES WERE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT HAD TO DISCONNECT THE POWER TO THE BLOWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RESISTOR MODULE CONNECTOR AND BLOWER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE REPAIRED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THE REAR LIFTGATE WILL NOT UNLOCK OR OPEN & REAR LIFTGATE WINDOW WILL NOT UNLOCK OR OPEN. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD FOR PERSONS TRAVELING IN VEHICLE, AS THERE WOULD NOT BE ANY MEANS TO EXIT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE VIA THE REAR LIFTGATE OR REAR LIFTGATE WINDOW IN AN EMERGENCY (ESPECIALLY FOR MY CHILDREN WHO SIT IN THE 3RD ROW OF SEATS) ALL 4 STANDARD DOORS STILL LOCK/UNLOCK BOTH MANUALLY AND WITH THE REMOTE CLICKER, HOWEVER, THE REAR LIFTGATE NO LONGER UNLOCKS OR OPENS MANUALLY OR WITH THE REMOTE CLICKER. THIS DESIGN DEFECT OF THE REAR LIFTGATE AND REAR LIFTGATE WINDOW ON THE GMC YUKON IS A SERIOUS HAZARD TO THE SAFETY OF PASSENGERS. NOW THAT THE REAR LIFTGATE AND REAR LIFTGATE WINDOW IS "FROZEN" IN THE LOCKED POSITION, THERE WOULD BE NO WAY TO EXIT THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE FROM THE REAR LIFTGATE OR REAR LIFTGATE WINDOW SINCE THERE ARE NO MANUAL DOOR HANDLES OR LEVERS TO OPEN THE REARLIFTGATE OR ITS WINDOW FROM THE INTERIOR OR EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. PER THE MECHANICAL DIAGNOSIS, THE POOR DESIGN OF THE REAR LIFTGATE 'HOUSING BOX' SURROUNDING THE LIFTGATE CABLE MECHANISM OVERHEATS AND HAS CAUSED THE 'HOUSING BOX' AND CABLE MECHANISM TO MELT, THUS RENDERING THE REAR LIFTGATE AND REAR LIFTGATE WINDOW NON-OPERATIONAL. WITHOUT THIS FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY, THERE IS NO MEANS TO ELECTRONICALLY OR MANUALLY UNLOCK OR OPEN THE REAR LIFTGATE OR REAR LIFTGATE WINDOW, THUS CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD TO PASSENGERS TRAVELING IN VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A RED LIGHT AND TURNING RIGHT, THE POWERTRAIN SUDDENLY DISENGAGED, NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT FROM UNSUSPECTING DRIVERS BEHIND MY YUKON. THE ENGINE REMAINS ON, THE SHIFTER (AUTOMATIC) HAS NOT MOVED AND INDICATES "DRIVE". MOVING THE SHIFTER TO OTHER GEARS DID NOT HELP EITHER. THINKING QUICKLY, I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, PLACED VEHICLE IN "P", RESTARTED, AND SHIFTED BACK TO "D" WHICH DID NOT WORK. I THEN PLACED ENGINE IN "3" AND WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING IN THIRD GEAR UNTIL ARRIVING HOME. THE GMC DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, WENT AHEAD AND CHANGED A SHIFT CABLE FOR $1,100 AND I CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. *JS
I KNOW THE INVESTIGATION IS CLOSED ON RUSTED BRAKE LINES BUT ID LIKE FOR IT TO BE REOPEN. I AM NOT SURE WHY THE NHTSA IS NOT FINDING GMC LIABLE FOR THIS NEGLIGENCE. BRAKE LINES RUST FROM TIME TO TIME. WE GOT IT. BUT MY 2006 DENALI IS DRIVEN APPROX. 4,000 MILES PER YEAR, GARAGED WHEN NOT DRIVEN. I LIVE IN AN AREA THAT SOME YEARS IT DOESN'T EVEN SNOW. SO I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ITS THE WEATHER. I WAS SURPRISED AT MY LOCAL MECHANIC'S GARAGE AT INSPECTION TIME WHEN HE SHOWED US THE PARTS THAT NEEDED REPLACED (I HAVE THOSE IN MY POSSESSION BTW). ITS NOT THE WEATHER THAT'S DOING THIS FOR THE SHEER FACT THAT ITS PRIMARILY GMC THAT HAS THE PROBLEM. NO OTHER CAR MANUFACTURER HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM TO SUCH AN EXTENT. MY FAMILY IS A CAMPING FAMILY AND TOWING AN 8,000 LB CAMPER WITH RUSTED BRAKE LINES COULD HAVE MEANT DISASTER. THANK GOODNESS OUR MECHANIC NOTICED THIS. I HAVE TRIED SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT THROUGH GMC AND OF COURSE THEY DON'T WANT TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THIS. I PAID ALMOST $800 FOR THIS WORK TO BE DONE. I WANT REIMBURSED; ITS ONLY FAIR. WE TEACH OUR CHILDREN THAT WHEN THEY ARE NEGLIGENT THEY HAVE TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT. OUR LEGAL SYSTEM IS ONE IN WHICH IF YOU CAUSE AN INJUSTICE YOU HAVE TO MAKE THINGS RIGHT TIMES THREE. AGAIN, ITS GMC THAT IS HAVING THIS ISSUE AND MY CAR DOESN'T FIT INTO "OH ITS A WEATHER RELATED ISSUE/WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE". PLEASE REOPEN THIS INVESTIGATION. THE UPPER BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHT (BAR) ON TOP OF THE REAR LIFT GATE DOOR MALFUNCTIONED. I DID NOT REALIZE THAT IT HAD NOT BEEN WORKING OR FOR HOW LONG. OBVIOUSLY THIS WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE DEALER CLAIMS IT "BURNED OUT" AFTER DISCOVERING IT DURING INSPECTION OF ANOTHER PROBLEM, HOWEVER, NONE OF MY OTHER VEHICLES HAVE EVER NEEDED REPLACEMENTS FOR THESE LED LIGHTS. AFTER PAYING $300, FOR A NEW BRAKE LIGHT BAR IT WORKED. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IT SHORTED OUT OR MAY HAVE HAD WIRES THAT BECAME CORRODED. JUST ONE OF A MULTITUDE OF CONTINUING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. *JS
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM KICK IN BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP! THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHILE IN TRAFFIC AND IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. DEALER SUGGEST REPLACING THE BRAKE SENSOR OR DISABLING IT. FIRST OCCURRENCE OF THIS EVENT THE VEHICLE HAD 35K MILES. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL GIVEN THE IMPLICATIONS OF A FAULTY SYSTEM.
ON JANUARY 21, 2014 I HAD WRECK IN MY 2006 GMC YUKON THAT ONLY HAD 31K ON IT HITTING A 2011 CHEVY CRUZE THAT WAS STOPPED AT A RED TRAFFIC SIGNAL; I TRIED TO BRAKE AT SPEED OF 45 HOWEVER THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR, DUE TO COMPLETE BRAKE LINE FAILURE DUE TO CORRODED BRAKE LINES. I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE.STEERING HESITATION DURING LOW SPEED TURNING. RPM DIDN'T CHANGE THE HESITATION. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE POLICE PATROL VEHICLES AT WORK. ALL THE POWER STEERING PUMPS WERE CHANGED TO CORRECT THIS HESITATION. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. *TR
I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE. THE REAR WINDOW RELEASE BUTTON IS PUSHED ALL THE WAY IN AND WILL NOT OPEN THE WINDOW. WHILE I HAD THE REAR HATCH APART I WAS GOING TO PUT IN A MECHANISM TO ALLOW OPENING THE REAR HATCH FROM INSIDE. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A FACTORY RECALL TO INSTALL 1. A MORE RELIABLE DOOR AND WINDOW LATCH SYSTEM AND 2. TO PUT IN A INSIDE RELEASE MECHANISM. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE ARE OVER 300 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS LISTED FOR THIS VEHICLE IN THE GMC SITE BUT ONLY 13 ACCORDING TO NHTSA. *TR
IN A CAMPING SITUATION WE COULD ONLY EXIT FROM THE REAR HATCH AND IT COULD NOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. ALSO, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO UNLOCK THE MECHANISM WOULD NOT UNLOCK THE HATCH. THIS WAS A VERY UNSAFE SCENARIO - LOCKED IN THE CAR WITH NO DOOR EXIT. FINALLY, CLIMBED FROM THE WINDOW. ONCE HOME WE REALIZED HOW THIS WAS SUCH A BAD ISSUE SO WE DID RESEARCH. APPARENTLY SINCE 2006 ALL SUBURBAN, YUKONS, AND DENALIS HAVE THIS RECURRING ISSUE COMPOUNDING THE ALREADY UNSAFE DESIGN OF NOT BEING ABLE TO OPEN REAR HATCH FROM THE INTERIOR. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF OWNERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. IT IS A DESIGN FLAW ALONG WITH A POORLY FUNCTIONING LOCKING MECHANISM. THIS WILL END UP IN A FUTURE FATALITY. REDUCED ENGINE POWER FORCED THE VEHICLE TO REMAIN UNDER 25 MPH ON A BUSY ROAD WHERE I WAS UNABLE TO PULL OFF DUE TO LACK OF SHOULDER. RESTART OF THE VEHICLE AFTER I CAME TO A PLACE I COULD STOP, YIELDED THE SAME ERROR AND LACK OF POWER. *TR
I NOTICED A GASOLINE ODOR COMING FROM MY FUEL TANK AREA, I IMMEDIATELY HAD A MECHANIC INSPECT THE ISSUE AS I WAS FEARING A POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD. UPON INSPECTION HE FOUND THE FUEL LINES TO THE FUEL PUMP TO HAVE DISINTEGRATED AND SPEWING FUEL . THE FUMES AND FUEL WERE DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND I FEAR THAT I JUST NARROWLY AVERTED DISASTER. FURTHER INSPECTION BY THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE ALSO ABOUT TO RUST THROUGH AND THE EFFECT OF THAT WOULD BE CATASTROPHIC IN A HIGHWAY OR ANY HARD BRAKING SITUATION THAT COULD INITIATE ENOUGH PRESSURE TO CAUSE THE LINES TO BURST. I AM VERY UPSET THAT GMC HASN'T APPRISED OWNERS OF THIS HAZARDOUS AND LIFE THREATENING SITUATION WITH THESE VEHICLES. I HAVE REPLACED ALL AFFECTED COMPONENTS AND FEEL THAT THIS IS CAUSE FOR A RECALL AND REIMBURSEMENT FROM GMC BEFORE A CATASTROPHIC EVENT TAKES PLACE DUE TO BLATANT NEGLIGENCE OF THE MANUFACTURER. IN DECEMBER 2010 THE CAMSHAFT IN THE 5.3L GM ENGINE REPORTEDLY DELAMINATED CAUSING ONE OR MORE LIFTERS TO GALL AND FAIL REQUIRING A NEW ENGINE. I PURCHASED A FACTORY 5.3L ENGINE FROM A GM DEALER AND HAD THAT INSTALLED BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WITH THE ASSURANCE OF A 3 YEAR 100,000 MILE WARRANTY. 28 AUGUST MY WIFE TOLD ME THE ENGINE WAS NOISY. ON STARTING THE ENGINE IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT OIL WAS NOT PUMPING THROUGH THE LIFTERS. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER ON THE 29TH FOR DIAGNOSIS. ON 30 AUGUST THEY CONCLUDED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATION CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE WAS SHIPPED WITH FAULTY CASTECH HEADS THAT CAUSED COOLANT TO SEEP INTO THE OIL. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. I WOULD LIKE, IF IT IS THE JOB OF THE NHTSA, TO HAVE THE 5.3L ENGINE RECALLED. *TR
