2008 GMC YUKON XL - DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS REPEATED FAILURE - SAFETY ISSUE AS THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY WHILE UNDERWAY AND BECOME A HAZARD. ALSO IN THE EVENT OF NEEDING TO UNLOCK THE DOORS IN EMERGENCY IT REQUIRES MANUAL OPERATION. THIS IS A TREMENDOUS HAZARD AND A KNOWN PROBLEM BY GM AND THEY FAIL TO FIND ADEQUATE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. THEY ALSO REFUSE TO REPLACE THE UNITS OUT OF 36K WARRANTY. THIS IS A CHASSIS WIDE ISSUE FROM CHEVY, CADILLAC, GMC SUV FOR THIS MODEL YEAR. *TR
OUR DASH IS CRACKED AT THE AIRBAGS
2008 GMC YUKON DOOR ACTUATORS GOING OUT REPETITIVELY. I HAVE TO HAVE TWO ACTUATORS REPLACED AT ABOUT $400 EACH FOR NEARLY $800. TWO FAILURES OUT OF FOUR ACTUATORS IS AA TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE FAILURE RATE. THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT. THE FACT THAT THE MANUAL UNLATCH IS UN REACHABLE MAKES THIS ISSUE EVEN MORE OUTRAGEOUS. MANUALLY UNLOCKING THE DOOR INSTEAD OF BEING ABLE TO USE MY KEY REMOTE IS NOT EASY. ONE NEEDS TO CRAWL IN THE BACK SEAT TO UNLATCH THE BACK DOOR. THIS NEED SERIOUS ATTENTION! THIS IS A PAIN AND CAUSES ME TO SERIOUSLY CONSIDER BUYING A DIFFERENT BRAND. DO WHAT YOU WISH GM. YOUR LOSS DOWN THE ROAD AS I WILL TELL AS MANY AS I CAN TO FIND ANOTHER VEHICLE TO BUY. *TR
I OWN A 2008 GMC YUKON. THE VEHICLE HAS POWER DOOR LOCKS AND THE ACTUATOR ON THE DOOR LOCKS HAS GONE OUT ON ALL FOUR DOORS. THEY REPLACED THE FIRST 3 UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THEY WOULD NOT DO IT ON THE LAST ONE AS VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. MY SON HELPED ME INSTALL A NEW ONE IN THE LAST ONE, BUT WE HAD TO BUY THE PARTS. MY SORRY DEALERSHIP WANTED $300 TO FIX SOMETHING THAT IS OBVIOUSLY FLAWED IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE DOOR LOCK HAS NOW GONE OUT AGAIN ON A BACK DOOR THAT THEY HAD ALREADY FIXED, SUPPOSEDLY THEY WILL REPAIR THIS ONE FREE OF CHARGE. I GUESS I WILL TAKE IT IN AND SEE IF THEY WILL HONOR THEIR REPAIR WARRANTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND LOCKED WITH THE KEY FOB. WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO ENTER THE VEHICLE AGAIN, SHE WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WITHOUT USING THE KEY FOB BUT THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM BEGAN TO SOUND. SHE DISENGAGED THE SYSTEM USING THE KEY FOB BUT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT DRIVER SIDE DOOR MOTOR FAILED; IT WAS REPAIRED. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,600 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,680.
PURCHASED A USED 2008 GMC YUKON JAN. 23, 2010 AND APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS LATER THE FIRST ISSUE OCCURRED WITH THE CAR NOT STARTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I THOUGHT IT WAS USER ERROR. A FEW MONTHS LATER COMING OUT OF THE GROCERY STORE WENT TO ENTER MY VEHICLE AND NO START, WENT UNDER THE HOOD AND MOVED THE BATTERY CABLE AND IT STARTED. LATER THAT NIGHT I TRIED TO TIGHTEN THE BATTERY CABLE, BUT IT WASN'T LOOSE. APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH LATER WHILE DRIVING, THE DASH FLICKERED AND "STABILITY TRACTION" LIGHT ILLUMINATED WITH SLIGHT LOSS OF POWER. GOT TO DESTINATION EXITED VEHICLE AND UPON RETURN VEHICLE WOULD NOT START UNTIL I ONCE AGAIN MOVED BATTERY CABLE AROUND. THE LAST INCIDENT WHICH OCCURRED ON AUGUST 30, 2010 WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 15 MPH THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD, ENGINE JUST CUT OFF. WRESTLED CAR TO SIDE, PUT IN PARK AND RESTARTED. THIS WAS THE SCARIEST INCIDENT BECAUSE SOMEONE COULD HAVE REAR ENDED ME. I TOOK VEHICLE TO SHOP GMC DEALER AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. 23,000 MILES ON VEHICLE NOW. PURCHASED WITH 17,500. *TR
FIRST OWNER OF A 2009 GMC YUKON HAS HAD 3 DOOR LOCK FAILURES, WHICH NOT ONLY QUALIFIES UNDER THE LEMON LAW, BUT ALSO POSES A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THE FIRST DOOR LOCK FAILED. GMC DOES NOT CONSIDER DOOR LOCKS AS A WARRANTY ITEM OR SAFETY ITEM SO I WAS FORCED TO PAY FOR A REPLACEMENT. THE NEXT WEEK, ANOTHER DOOR LOCK FAILED. THE DEALER DID NOT CHARGE FOR THE REPLACEMENT. NOW, A THIRD DOOR LOCK FAILED ONLY 10 DAYS AFTER THE LAST REPAIR. WHY IS THIS A SAFETY CONCERN? MY CHILD WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR WHILE ALL DOORS WERE LOCKED. DUE TO E FAILURE, THE DOOR WAS UNLOCKED UNKNOWINGLY. MY CHILD AND ANY CHILD OR PERSON RISKS FALLING OUT OF A MOVING VEHICLE. SECONDLY, SHOULD A CAR ACCIDENT OCCUR, UNLOCKED DOORS COULD RESULT IN A DOOR OPENING AND EJECTING THE PASSENGER LEADING TO DEATH. THERE IS A FLOOD OF COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB FOR THIS ISSUE. GMC HAS NOT OWNED UP TO IT, BUT DUE TO THE MAJOR SAFETY ISSUES, THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND FAULTY ACTUATORS AND THE KNOWN PATTERN FAILURE IN WIRING HARNESS CAUSING THE FAILURES SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS AN IMMEDIATE RECALL. *TR
2008 GMC YUKON. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE DOOR LOCKS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE. *JB
I HAVE A 2008 GMC YUKON XL - I HAVE HAD THE DRIVERS DOOR AND THE BACK DOOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE'S LOCK FIXED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AND BACK DOOR LOCKS ARE NOT WORKING. THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK THESE DOORS IS TO CRAWL INTO THE VEHICLE AND MANUALLY LOCK AND UNLOCK THEM. *TR
2008 DENALI XL - DOOR LOCK FAILURES. 1ST REPAIR WAS UNDER WARRANTY @ 34000 MILES, REPLACED LEFT REAR DOOR LOCK. 2ND REPAIR WAS 8/4/10 FOR LEFT FRONT AND RIGHT REAR DOOR LOCKS REPLACED FOR $487.00 @ 40,000 MILES (OVER WARRANTY). DEALER EXPLAINED THAT MANY 2008 & 2009 GMC DENALIS HAVE BEEN COMING IN WITH DOOR LOCK FAILURES. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS YOU CANNOT UNLOCK THE REAR DOORS FROM THE OUTSIDE WHEN A CHILD IS IN A CARSEAT FOR INSTANCE. SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2008 GMC YUKON HYBRID IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH AND DECELERATING, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. I FELT A MOVEMENT IN THE GAS PEDAL, EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN ACCELERATION, AND I APPLIED THE BRAKES WHICH MADE IT STOP IMMEDIATELY. THIS COULD HAVE HAD A TRAGIC OUTCOME IF I'D BEEN IN A PARKING LOT. *TR
REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK WILL ONLY OPEN MANUALLY. THE KEY FOB AND ELECTRONIC MECHANISMS TO UNLOCK THIS DOOR NO LONGER WORK. THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR NOW OPERATES IN THE SAME MANNER (IT DOESN'T). I SEE A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF PEOPLE ENCOUNTERING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
DOOR LOCK FAILURE. POWER LOCKS ON 3 OUT OF 4 DOORS HAVE FAILED WITHIN THE FIRST 30,000 MILES, UNDER NORMAL USAGE. OVER $600 TO REPAIR TWO DOORS, BUT FAILED AGAIN. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD AS THESE DOORS CANNOT BE UNLOCKED AND THEN OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE. *TR
TRANSMISSION GEAR INDICATOR, PRND3, AND DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER IMPOSSIBLE TO READ UNDER CONDITIONS OF BRIGHT SUNLIGHT. *TR
VEHICLE HAS TRANSMISSION DEFECT. MERGING INTO TRAFFIC IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE TRANSMISSION OFTEN SELECTS TOO HIGH OF A GEAR AND THERE IS NO POWER FOR THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE. THIS PUTS THE DRIVER/PASSENGERS IN DANGER DUE TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS, THE VEHICLE WILL SOMETIMES DOWNSHIFT INTO TOO LOW OF A GEAR, CAUSING IT TO LUNGE FORWARD AT AN EXTREMELY HIGH RATE OF SPEED THAT IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. DEALER AND GMC HAVE LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES AND REFUSE TO FIX THE PROBLEM SAYING IT IS NORMAL OPERATION. *TR

CHROME OVER PLASTIC IS COMING OFF OR PEELING AND THIS PROBLEM RESULTED IN SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVING THEIR FINGERS CUT WHILE OPENING THE DOOR. THE CHROME COVERING WHERE IT HAS PEELED IS LIKE A RAZOR BLADE WHEN PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO UNLATCH THE DOOR. *TR
POWER LOCK FAILURE ON 2008 GMC YUKON, OCCURRING ONE @ A TIME OVER APROX 1 YEAR. 3 YEAR OLD SEATED IN REAR SEAT ABLE TO OPEN DOOR WHILE VEHICLE MOVING AS A RESULT OF DOOR NOT LOCKING WHEN LOCKED ENGAGED WITH POWER LOCKS SWITCH. *TR
MY 2008 GMC YUKON XL HAS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. TWO SEPARATE DEALERSHIPS HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION SEALS TWICE. THE CAR KICKS BACK UPON ACCELERATION QUITE FREQUENTLY, AT ALL SPEEDS. THREE WEEKS AGO, I WAS MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 45 MPH AND THE CAR ACCELERATED ONLY WITHOUT KICKING INTO GEAR, CAUSING ANOTHER CAR TO ALMOST HIT ME. AFTER ABOUT 15 SECONDS THE GEAR FINALLY KICKED IN REALLY HARD THROWING MY SON AND MYSELF FORWARD. IT WAS VERY SCARY. I HAD THE SECOND DEALERSHIP COME AND FLAT BED TOW THE CAR IN OUT OF FEAR OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION THAT THE SEALS WERE LOSE AND TIGHTEN AND NOTHING ELSE WAS WRONG. ONE WEEK LATER I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IS KICKING BACK AND SOMETIMES DOES STOPS SHIFTING INTO GEAR AS I AM TRYING TO ACCEL, THE VEHICLE MOVES THEN IT STOPS BEING ABLE TO CONTINUE. I AM CALLING THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN TODAY. I AM WONDERING IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY OTHER ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLES YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. WHAT SHOULD I DO CONTINUE TO TRY TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AND TAKE A CHANCE OF HAVING SOMETHING BAD HAPPENING TO MYSELF AND THREE CHILDREN. 2008 GMC YUKON XL .NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM AIR VENTS AND SMELLING HOT. THEN FEW DAYS PAST, WHILE DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WE PULL OVER TO SIDE. WAITED 15 MINUTES THEN STARTED. DROVE ANOTHER 10 OR 15 MILES SHUTS OFF AGAIN WAIT 10 15 MINUTES FINALLY MAKE IT HOME . WE TRY TO START ENGINE AFTER TWO DAY PASS .THE ENGINE WILL TURN OVER AND TRY TO START BUT WILL NOT. CALLED A DEALER, HAD IT TOWED UP TO THEM ,THEY DECIDE IT IS THE FUEL CONTROL MODULE . I HAVE LOOKED FOR A RECALL FOR THIS BUT ON A 2008 I COULD NOT FIND ONE BUT ON THE 2009 I DID FIND ONE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM I AM DESCRIBING. *TR

THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED. THE VEHICLE TAKE 5-10 SECONDS BEFORE RESPONDING, RESULTING IN DELAY OF MERGING AND STALLING AT STOP LIGHTS. IT BECOMES DANGEROUS WHEN ENTERING A HIGHWAY AND TAKING OFF, I HAVE HAD INDIVIDUALS ALMOST SLAM INTO ME AND I HAVE RAN INTO A CONSTRUCTION ZONE. IT SUDDENLY TAKE OFF, LEAVING THE DRIVER OFF GUARD. *TR
DASH BOARD HAS CRACKED ABOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND AROUND PASSENGER AIRBAG
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC YUKON XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY ACCELERATE TO 10 T0 15 MPH. IN ADDITION, THE STABILITRAC, ENGINE CONTROL MODULE, AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ONTO THE ROAD SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SOUTHERN GREEN BRIER GMC (1300 SOUTH MILITARY HIGHWAY, CHESAPEAKE, VA 23320, 757-424-2418). THE DEAELER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT LOCATED FAILURE CODES P2122, P2138, AND P2128. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY TWICE AND THE BATTERY CABLES WERE REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FOUR UNKNOWN DEALERS WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: [XXX]. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE DEFECTIVE TAKATA AIRBAGS AND TO DATE GM HAS NOT REPLACED OR REPAIRED THEM. THEY SIMPLY STATE THEY HAVE NO RESOLUTION YET. IN TALKING WITH A LOCAL DEALER HE WILL NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE IN ON TRADE DUE TO THE UNREPAIRED RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC YUKON. WHILE ENTERING THE VEHICLE, SHE NOTICED FLAMES AND SMOKE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THE REPORT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL . THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, AND SHE WAS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 24319.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC YUKON DENALI XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AT 60,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

2008 GMC YUKON DOOR ACTUATORS GOING OUT REPEATEDLY. I HAVE TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOOR INSTEAD OF BEING ABLE TO USE MY KEY REMOTE AS THE DRIVERS SIDE AND 2 PASSENGER DOORS HAVE GONE OUT. THIS BECOMES A SAFETY ISSUE AS I AM AT MY BUSINESS UNTIL 9PM AND WOULD LIKE TO UNLOCK MY DOOR BY REMOTE. *TR
CRACKED DASHBOARD ON MY 2008 GMC YUKON XL 1500. I HAVE TWO BIG CRACKS ALONG SIDE THE DRIVERS SIDE CONSOLE AND ONE LARGE CRACK RUNNING ALONG THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG UNIT. DEALER WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, DEALER TELLS ME I HAVE TO REPLACE THIS AT MY COST OUT OF POCKET.
I HAVE ISSUES WITH ALL FOUR DOOR LOCKS NOT WORKING, THE POWER SEATS WORK SOMETIMES, AND MY RADIO / NV SYSTEM GOES ON AND OFF. *TR
DOOR LOCK MECHANISM MULTIPLE FAILS AND HAVE FOUND THIS IS WIDESPREAD AMONG THESE VEHICLES. FIND IT DANGEROUS AS YOU CANNOT ACCESS THE INTERIOR IN CASE OF EMERGENCY ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN. *TR
WHILE USING REMOTE START THE VEHICLE MAKES LOUD NOISE AND SHUTS OFF ENGINE. IN ADDITION THERE IS A RATTLING NOISE HEARD IN THE ENGINE. MANUFACTURER HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX PROBLEM BUT STATES THERE ARE DOZENS OF VEHICLES THAT WERE MADE INCORRECTLY AND THERE IS NO WAY FOR THEM TO FIX THIS ISSUE. *TR
REDUCED ENGINE POWER INTERMITTENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING VEHICLE WILL NOT GO ABOVE 35 MPH. HAS OCCURRED FIVE TIMES WITH A DIFFERENT "FIX" EACH TIME. ONE OF THE TIMES IT OCCURRED MY TEENAGE SON WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND HAD TO PULL OVER. ANOTHER TIME IT HAPPENED MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND FISHTAILED TAKING A CORNER AND HAD CONTINUED DECELERATION GOING UP THE BRIDGE. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! *TR
DASHBOARD STARTED TO CRACK AND THERE IS A LONG CRACK
SOME DOORS DON'T LOCK OR UNLOCK, I HAVE HAD THIS INTO THE DEALERSHIP ONCE TO GET IT FIXED. AND NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN, AND THANK GOODNESS FOR CAR SEATS BECAUSE MY 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER OPENED HER DOOR WHILE I WAS TURNING A CORNER AND ALMOST HIS ANOTHER CAR BESIDE ME. I AM TAKING MY YUKON IN TO GET FIXED AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ELECTRICAL IN THE DOORS. *TR
2008 GMC YUKON BACK-UP SENSORS FAILED TO ACTIVATE. *NJ
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT RECENTLY PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE DESIGN DOES NOT PERMIT OPERABLE TOWING DUE TO THE NONFUNCTIONAL TAIL LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE IN THE MANUFACTURER'S DESIGN. THERE WAS NO REPAIR AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 7,500 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. UPDATED 02/24/09. *LJ THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE WORK COULD NOT BE DONE ON THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE LIGHTS WERE WIRED THROUGH THE COMPUTER AND THEY COULD NOT WIRE THE UNIT TO HAVE TAILLIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS OR BRAKE LIGHTS. WIRING TO ANY LIGHTS COULD OR WOULD BURN UP THE COMPUTER. UPDATED 02/24/09. *JB
THE VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE FAILURES OF DOOR LOCKING MECHANISMS. MOST RECENT FAILURE HAS AFFECTED THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS WHICH ARE NOT KEYED FROM THE OUTSIDE, SO ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK IS TO CRAWL OVER SEATS TO UNLOCK. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN SINCE WE HAVE HAD SMALL CHILDREN IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE THAT CAN NOT EXIT THEIR SEATS ON THEIR OWN. THIS COULD INCREASE THE CHANGE OF BODILY INJURY IN AN ACCIDENT AND RESULT IN EXTRA TIME NEEDED TO EXTRICATE PEOPLE FROM THE VEHICLE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE AND OTHER GM VEHICLES WITH THE SAME BODY STYLE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS FIXED ONE OF THE ACTUATORS AND INDICATED THAT THEY HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE FAILURES, WHICH MEANS GM IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL TO FIX THESE CLEARLY DEFECTIVE DOOR LOCKING MECHANISMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC YUKON DENALI XL. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE COMPUTER WAS RESET. APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK LATER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RE-ILLUMINATED AND THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND THE LIGHT WOULD SHUT OFF. APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES LATER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SHUT OFF. THREE MONTHS LATER WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE TRACTION CONTROL, ABS, BRAKE AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. WITHIN MINUTES, THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS SHUT OFF AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND WHEN RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ILLUMINATING. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND WAS NOT SERVICED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY EIGHT TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,778.
I AM REPORTING THAT GMC WILL NOT REPLACE THE FAULTY AIR BAGS IN MY 2008 YUKON. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER, AND HAVE REPEATEDLY TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE GMC DEALER TO HAVE THE AIR BAG RECALL TAKEN CARE OF, BUT THEY HAVE NOT DONE SO. NOW I AM READY TO SELL THE VEHICLE AND AM BEING TOLD THAT THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO BE LESS BECAUSE OF THE OPEN RECALL. THIS SHOWS UP ON CARFAX. I SEEM TO HAVE NO RECOURSE.
THE CAR WAS PARKED IN LINE AT MY KID'S SCHOOL, WAITING TO PICK HIM UP. THE CAR ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. WHEN THE CAR WAS TURNED ON, WARNING LIGHTS FOR TRACTION CONTROL, BRAKES AND STABILITRAK CAME ON. AFTER MOVING SLIGHTLY FORWARD, THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP DESPITE FLOORING THE BRAKE. LUCKILY A SPEED BUMP STOPPED THE CAR. WE LEFT THE CAR WHERE IT WAS AND WE TRIED AGAIN THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE SAME LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE BRAKES STILL COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE, THE CAR COASTED TO A STOP. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
ROCKS ENTER A SMALL HOLE OF THE REAR BRAKES CAUSING THEM TO BE LODGED IN THE BRAKE DRUM AND MAKING IT NECESSARY FOR A MECHANIC TO REMOVE. MY CONCERN IS THAT I WON'T KNOW ROCKS ARE IN THERE AND THEY WILL CAUSING A BRAKING PROBLEM RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC YUKON. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES AND THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED TWICE. THE THIRD TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE BATTERY WAS FUNCTIONING AND WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THIS IS IN REGARDS TO GMC BULLETIN #PIP4112J : SAG OR HESITATION ON ACCELERATION (NORMAL OPERATION CHARACTERISTICS) - (JUL 21, 2011). I'VE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM SINCE DAY ONE AND TOOK THE SUV TO MANY DEALERS BUT DEALERS COULD NOT VERIFY THE CONCERN UNTIL NOW. THE 2008 GMC YUKON XL DENALI WOULD STOP ACCELERATING FOR 2-3 SECONDS WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED. MOST OF THE TIME IT IS WHEN I AM TRYING TO PASS A LANE, TRYING TO ENTER HIGHWAY, TRYING TO CLIMB A MILD HILL OR TRYING TO AVOID A POTENTIAL ACCIDENT. AFTER THE DELAY, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD DOWN SHIFT AND I THINK IT DOWN SHIFTS TO EITHER 1ST OR 2ND GEAR CAUSING THE SUV TO ROAR LIKE CRAZY AND SHOOTS OUT LIKE A CANNON. I HAD AN INCIDENT WHERE THE COPS GAVE ME A WARNING WITH THE LIGHTS AND SIREN PROBABLY THINKING THAT I WAS DRIVING RECKLESSLY. THERE WERE ALSO INCIDENTS WHERE I'VE HAD THE GAS PEDAL PRESSED DOWN ABOUT 80%-90% TRYING TO CLIMB A MILD ELEVATION AND EITHER THE ENGINE AND OR TRANSMISSION STARTED TO CHOKE. IT WAS SO BAD THAT THE DENALI ALMOST CAME TO A FULL STOP. YOU REALLY HAVE TO EXPERIENCE THIS ON YOUR OWN TO UNDERSTAND HOW SCARY AND NERVE WRECKING IT IS WHEN YOU HAVE VEHICLES ABOUT TO RAM YOU FROM BEHIND BECAUSE THE SUV SIMPLY WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. MANY TIMES, I HAD TO SWERVE BACK IN TO ORIGINAL LANE IN FEAR OF CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. BECAUSE OF THIS, I DON'T EVEN LET MY WIFE DRIVE THE VEHICLE. SERVICE MANAGER WAS KIND ENOUGH TO RESEARCH ON THIS MATTER AND FOUND BULLETIN #PIP4112J AND HE CAN'T REALLY DO ANYTHING. I'VE BEEN EXPLAINED THAT DUE TO LARGE POWER FROM THE ENGINE, HE HAS SEEN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLES BREAK APART. I FULLY UNDERSTAND THE SERVICE MANGER'S POSITION ON THIS BUT I THINK THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND SOMEONE CAN SERIOUSLY GET HURT BY THIS. *KB
ON ALL 4 OCCASIONS, THE 2008 YUKON HYBRID, LUNGES FORWARD AT LOW SPEEDS, LOOSES BRAKES, POWER STEERING AND ALL POWER. EVERY TIME IT HAS TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES SINCE AUGUST 2008. THE FIRST TIME THERE WAS A FIRE IN THE FUSE BOX, THEN WHILE THE DEALER HAD THE VEHICLE, IT CAUGHT ON FIRE AGAIN. THE DEALER KEEPS TELLING ME THAT IT IS FIXED AND SAFE TO DRIVE. THE YUKON IS BACK AT THE DEALER AND I AM NOT TAKING IT BACK. THIS VEHICLE IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS RIGHT AWAY. I NOW HAVE AN ATTORNEY AND WE ARE CONTACTING GM AS WELL. *TR
"TAKATA RECALL" OUR 2008 GMC YUKON IS UNDER RECALL FOR FAULTY TAKATA AIR BAGS, AND THE GM MANUFACTURER SAYS THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS AVAILABLE. WHEN WILL THE PARTS BE AVAILABLE?
OUR 2008 GMC YUKON WITH TAKATA AIRBAGS HAS BEEN UNDER RECALL FOR MANY YEARS NOW, AND STILL HAS NOT BE RESOLVED. IT SEEMS THAT TAKATA AND GMC HAVE IGNORED THE IMPORTANCE OF REPLACING THE AIRBAGS. IT IS SHOCKING THAT OUR GOVERNMENT HAS NOT FORCED THEM TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE FOR ALL THESE YEARS. WE PURCHASED OUR 2008 GMC YUKON NEW IN AUGUST, 2008. I DO NOT HAVE A PROPER DATE FOR THE DATE LISTED AS WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN LISTED BELOW, SO JUST PUT AUGUST 1, 2008 SO THAT I COULD GET ON TO THE NEXT PAGE, IT WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO LEAVE THAT FIELD BLANK.
VEHICLE BRAKE SYSTEM RESPONDS ERRATICALLY ABOUT ONCE EVERY 100 MILES. IT HAS CAUSED NUMEROUS NEAR MISS ACCIDENTS. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS BUT I'LL DESCRIBE THE MOST RECENT. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A LOCAL HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 50 MILES AN HOUR. TRAFFIC WAS BACKING UP AND CAME TO A STOP. I HIT THE BRAKES (NO DANGER/EMERGENCY, JUST A NORMAL STOP). THE VEHICLE SLOWED NORMALLY TO ABOUT 15 MILES PER HOUR AND THEN THE BRAKES "LET GO" AND THE DECELERATION STOPPED EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I HAD TO RELEASE THE PEDAL AND SLAM ON THE BRAKES ANEW TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP BEFORE SLAMMING IN TO THE TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF ME. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE AND IT SEEMS TO OCCUR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SWITCHING FROM HYBRID TO NON-HYBRID MODE AND/OR WHEN THE REGENERATIVE BRAKING IS CYCLING ON OR OFF. MY VEHICLE IS A 2008 GMC YUKON HYBRID IT'S BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN REPAIRED. I CAN'T RECREATED THE PROBLEM ON DEMAND, BUT IT HAPPENS ON AVERAGE ONCE A WEEK AND SCARES ME SO MUCH THAT I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT ANYMORE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,200.
