TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND RESTARTED INDEPENDENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE DASH AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IS CRACKING.
MY GMC YULON HAS TWO CRACKS ON THE TOP PART OF THE DASH. HAVE COMPLAINED TO GMC AND THEY ARE AWARE THAT IS A DEFECT AND WILL NOT STEP UP TO THE PLATE
I NOTICED MY DASHBOARD CRACKED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. I WAS TOLD FROM MY LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS CAUSED FROM THE HEAT BECAUSE WE LIVE IN A VERY DRY/HOT CLIMATE. THAT MAY BE, BUT I HAVE LIVED IN THE SAME AREA FOR 30 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A DASH CRACK. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!
I HAVE A CRACK IN MY DASH CONNECTING TO THE PASSEGER SIDE AIRBAG. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. GM IS NOT WILLING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM OR ISSUE A RECALL WHEN IT IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURES DEFECT. THEY APPARENTLY DONT CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. THEY HAVE HAD MANY COMPLAINTS AND STILL IGNORE THIS PROBLEM. HOPEFULLY NO ONE WILL HAVE TO BE HURT FOR GM TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I GOT INTO THE CAR TO CRANK IT AND HEARD A LOUD "POP" AND SAW A CRACK ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO HELP OUT WITH THIS. I AM CONCERNED HOW THIS WILL AFFECT THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT ESPECIALLY WITH THE RECALL NOTICE THAT I RECEIVED IN THE MAIL FROM GMC STATING THAT MY FRONT AIRBAGS ARE DEFECTIVE AND ARE ALREADY AT RISK OF PUNCTURING IF THE PROPELLANT DEGRADES TO A CERTAIN LEVEL DURING DEPLOYMENT DUE TO THE AIR BAGS DEGRADING OVER TIME AND BEING EXPOSED TO HEAT AND HUMIDITY. FACTOR THAT IN WITH A CRACKED DASH WITH SHARP EDGES AND THAT EQUALS A DEADLY COMBO! THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OF THIS DASH. I WAS ONLY OFFERED AN ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR OUT OF MY POCKET THAT WAS OUTRAGEOUS!! PLEASE HELP.
DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES FROM ABOVE THE DRIVE SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND SURROUNDING THE AIR BAG LOCATION. CONCERNED THAT IN AN AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, PIECES OF THE DASH MAY BE PROJECTED THROUGHOUT THE INTERIOR CAUSING INJURY.
OUR 2011 GMC YUKON DENALI XL HAS DEVELOPED LARGE CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD. ONE IS LOCATED BEHIND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND AT THE CORNER OF THE AIRBAG. WE HAVE CONCERNS IF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG EVER DEPLOYS, SHARP PIECES OF THE BROKEN DASH MAY BREAK LOOSE AND INJURE PASSENGERS IN OUR VEHICLE.
FIRST CRACK IN THE DASH WAS AT LESS THAN 40K MILES. NOW HAVE MULTIPLE CRACKS AND A FLAPPING DASHBOARD. POTENTIAL ISSUE WITH PIECES OF THE DASH ACTING AS A PROJECTILE DURING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT CAUSING INJURIES.
OUR YUKON HAS A CRACK ON THE CORNER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG, AND ALSO A VERY LARGE CRACK ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL HUMP OF THE DASH. THIS CRACK CONTINUES TO LENGTHEN DAILY. WE HAVE REAL FEARS OF THE PLASTIC BREAKING APART INTO SHARP SHARDS IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. I WORRY ABOUT MY TEENAGERS RIDING IN THE FRONT SEAT AS I DON'T WANT THEM INJURED. ADDITIONALLY WE HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT THE CRACK NEAR THE AIRBAG BREAKING THE DASH INTO PIECES IF THE AIRBAG INFLATES. WE RECEIVED THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL OVER A YEAR AGO, AND ARE STILL WAITING FOR REPLACEMENT. WE ARE MEMBERS OF A FACEBOOK GROUP WITH 6,200+ MEMBERS, ALL WITH CRACKS IN GM VEHICLES IN THE EXACT LOCATION. GM DENIES THAT THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART AND TRIES TO BLAME THE ISSUE ON CAR BEING IN THE HOT SUN, USE OF ARMOR ALL, ETC... BUT IT SEEMS TO ME IF EVERYONE HAS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE, IT'S A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. WE ALSO OWN A 2008 GMC YUKON DENALI XL WITH AN IDENTICAL CRACK AT THE AIRBAG CORNER.
Vehicle has a cracked dash in three places. One over speed odometer the other right at the air bag passenger another in middle. Vehicle is garage kept all year round.
THE DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG OPENING. MY BELIEF IS IF THE VEHICLE ACTIVATES THE AIRBAG IN AN ACCIDENT, THE DASHBOARD MAY SPLIT INTO PIECES AND SEND THE PIECES INTO THE PASSENGERS. I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS FLAW ON THE INTERNET.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V381000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. MARK CHRISTOPHER AUTO CENTER (2131 E CONVENTION CENTER WAY, ONTARIO, CA) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
OBJECTIVE: CRACKED ON DASHBOARD (PASSENGER SIDE) NEAR AIRBAG. DASHBOARD IS NOT SECURELY ATTACHED. RATTLES CONSISTENTLY WHILE DRIVING ON A SMOOTH ROAD, RATTLING INCREASES ALONG WITH A VISUAL SHAKING OF DASHBOARD IF DRIVING ON AN UNSMOOTH ROAD. SUBJECTIVE: CONCERNS OVER POTENTIAL BODILY HARM IF AIRBAG WERE TO BE DEPLOYED IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. POSSIBLE THAT PIECES OF THE DASHBOARD MAY BREAK OFF AND BE PROJECTED TOWARDS PASSENGER(S).
MULTIPLE CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD.
I HAVE TWO CRACKS ON MY DASH ONE AT THE TOP LEFT OF PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IT IS ABOUT ONE INCH LONG. THIS PARTICULAR CRACK IS IN THE SAME LOCATION WHERE 6,000 MEMBERS ON A FACEBOOK PAGE HAVE THE EXACT SAME CRACK. THE OTHER CRACK IS IN THE CENTER OF THE DASH ON THE WINDSHIELD VENT. I AM WANTING A FORMAL INVESTIGATION FOR THIS ISSUE! WE DO NOT KNOW WHEN OR IF WE WILL EVER BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, BUT THE CRACK NEAR THE AIRBAG IS A POTENTIAL HAZARD FOR PLASTIC SHARDS BLOWN OUT AS SHRAPNEL CAUSING MORE INJURY IN THE EVENT THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS.
LARGE CRACK IN DASH ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. FAULTY PRODUCT AS IT HAS NO MECHANICAL PARTS.
MY DASHBOARD CRACKED WITHIN 8 MONTHS OF ME PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. AFTER REPLACING THE DASHBOARD WITH A NEW ONE, THIS ONE IS CRACKING IN THE EXACT SAME SPOTS AS THE PREVIOUS ONE. GMC IS TELLING ME IT WILL COST $1000 TO REPLACE. I FEEL THIS IS FACTORY ISSUE AND A SAFETY CONCERN AS WELL AS IT IS NEAR WHERE THE AIR BAGS ARE. IT SHOULD BE RECALLED.
CRACKED DASH FROM MIDDLE OF DASH TO DRIVERS SIDE INSTRAMENT CLUSTER AND ON PASSENGER SIDE GOES TO AIRBAG. IT CRACKED OVER TIME. UNKNOWN CAUSE BUT MANY HAVE BEEN REPORTED WITH SAME DEFECT
CRACKED DASHBOARD BY THE AIRBAG AND INSTRUMENT PANEL
TRANSMISSION DEFECTIVE @60,000 MILE MARK WITH INITIAL SENSATION OF GETTING BUMPED FROM BEHIND WHEN COMING TO A STOP THAT THE DEALERSHIP ROUTINELY STATED, "OH THAT'S THE WAY THEY ALLURE". DASHBOARD DISINTEGRATING BEFORE MY EYES WITH MULTIPLE PLASTIC SHARDS THAT WILL BECOME DEADLY PROJECTILES IF EVER IN ACCIDENT AND WHO KNOWS HOW BAD IT WILL GET IF AIR BAGS DEPLOY.
THERE ARE 2 CRACKS ON THE FRONT DASHBOARD - ONE ON THE RIGHT AND ONE ON THE LEFT. OUR FEAR IS THAT IF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY THE DASH WILL FLY UP AND INJURE THE PASSENGERS IN THE CAR. WE HAVE 4 CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS IN THE VEHICLE WITH US.
MY 4 YEAR OLD CAR STARTED WITH A SMALL CRACK IN THE DASH AND IS NOT EXTENDING AND THERE ARE SEVERAL CRACKS OVER INSTRUMENT PANEL. AFTER FINDING THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM CONTACTED GM WHO GAVE ME A TOKEN 10% DISCOUNT ON THE 1200$ QUOTE.

MY DASH BOARD HAS TOW CRACKS AND IS READY TO FALL APART. ONE CRACK RUNS THE FULL WIDTH OF MY DASHBOARD AND IS DIRECTLY ABOVE MY SPEEDOMETER AND THE OTHER IS JUST TO THE RIGHT OF MY GLOVE BOX. CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD EVENTUALLY CAUSE ISSUES WITH MY SPEEDOMETER AND AIR BAGS. THE CRACK ABOVE MY SPEEDOMETER STARTED ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO AND THE OTHER 2 YEARS AGO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VALVES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 185,000.
AT 50K MILES A CRACK IN THE DASH HAD BEGUN. NOW AT 80K THERE IS A CRACK ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VENT IN THE CENTER OF THE DASH. ON ONE SIDE, IT HAD 2 CRACKS AND NOW THERE IS A LARGE TRIANGLE SHAPE PIECE MISSING. NO WAY TO KNOW WHERE THAT PIECE WENT AND IF IT WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS DOWN IN THE DASH. VERY DISAPPOINTING GIVEN THE PRICE OF THIS VEHICLE MANY AND GMC ISN'T WILLING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE DASHBOARD HAS PROGRESSIVELY BEING CRACKING FOR OVER A YEAR. IT HAS NOW BECOME VERY BAD IN TWO AREAS. ABOVE THE AIRBAG ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE AND ALL AROUND THE HOUSING ABOVE THE ODOMETERS THERE ARE SEVERAL LONG CRACKS. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THE SPREADING RATE WILL INCREASE WITH PIECES POSSIBLY CREAKING OFF AND SHOULD AN ACCIDENT OCCUR THAT SHARD'S OF PLASTIC COULD INJURY PASSENGERS OR MY CHILDREN. I HAVE CONTACT GMC AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THEY DO NOT SEE ANY PROBLEM AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT ADDRESS THIS SITUATION. AFTER REVIEWING THE INTERNET THOROUGHLY IT IS VERY APPARENT THAT THERE IS A DEFECT PROBLEM AND THEY DO NOT WISH TO ADDRESS. I AM MORE THAN DISAPPOINTED THAT GMC DO NOT TAKE THIS MATTER SERIOUSLY.
DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED IN 4 SPOTS. 2 CRACKS NEAR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG, 1 NEAR THE FRONT SPEAKER AND 1 OVER WHERE THE INSTRUMENTS ARE.
LOOSE DASHBOARD THAT REPEATEDLY RATTLES WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE.
DASHBOARD CRACKED ON DRIVER'S SIDE AND RATTLES REPEATEDLY WHEN OPERATING THE VEHICLE.
DASHBOARD CRACKED 2 YEARS AFTER PURCHASED. REPLACED BY LOCAL DEALERSHIP THEN CRACKED AGAIN 2 YEARS LATER OUT OF WARRANTY. APPARENTLY THE IN STOCK REPLACEMENTS WERE OF THE SAME DEFECTIVE DESIGN AS ORIGINALS.
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS RECALL REMEDIED BY TO NO AVAIL. I AM CONSTANTLY BEING TOLD REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 GMC YUKON DENALI. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE DASHBOARD CRACKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND EXPOSED THE AIR BAG. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN I HEARD A LOUD SNAP BANG UPON THE DASH BY THE WINDSHIELD. UPON INSPECTION I FOUND A LARGE CRACK ON THE RIGHTT SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL MOLDING BY THE WINDSHIELD. A FEW DAYS LATER THERE WERE TWO MORE CRACKS AND ALL WERE OVER 4 INCHES LONG. CONTACTED GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO TOLD ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A GMC DEALER TO DETERMINE IF THE CRACK WAS STRUCTUAL OR MATERIAL DEFECT. GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE EVEN OFFERED TO CALL THE DEALER FOR ME. ANYWAY, TOOK IT TO HARRY ROBINSON GMC IN FORT SMITH, AR AND THE SERVICE MANAGER REFUSED TO DO THE INSPECTION AS I DIDN'T BUY THE VEHICLE FROM THEM. ALSO THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED SO HE DIDN'T WANT ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT. SO I TOOK IT TO BLUE RIBBON CHEVROLET, GMC, BUICK IN SALLISAW, OK AND SEAN THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS SUPER. HE CALLED GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EVEN CONTACTED THE GMC REGIONAL REPAIR REP AND HAD HIM REVIEW THE CRACKED DASH REPORT. THE REGIONAL REP TOLD SEAN TO HANDLE THE CASE AS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY CLAIM AS MY WARRANTY HAD ONLY EXPIRED 3 MONTHS EARLIER AND I HAD LOW MILES ON THE CAR. ANYWAY THE GMC REP SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $100 AS MY COST. SEAN KEPT TRYING TO CALL THE GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE TO GET THE REPAIR FIX WITH NO COST TO ME BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE OVERSEAS GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE CALL SERVICE REPS WOULD NOT GET BACK WITH HIM. SO I SETTLED ON THE REPAIR. BOTTON LINE: PAY OVER $65000 FOR A VEHICLE AND HAVE THE MOLDING CRACK IN LESS THAN 39 MONTHS AND NOT BE FIXED BY THE MAKER IS STUPID. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GM PRODUCT. I WILL BUY FOREIGN AS THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR CARS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 YUKON XL. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WHEN THE ACCELERATE BECAME STUCK AND THE SPEED INCREASED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKES BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT THEN USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WHICH SLOWED THE VEHICLE DOWN, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP SO THE CONTACT JUMPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. IN A HALF MILE, THE VEHICLE CRASHED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES THAT APPEAR TO BE IN DANGER OF PROJECTING SHARDS OF HARD PLASTIC WHEN THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY. THESE CRACKS BEGAN ON THEIR OWN AND NOT AS A RESULT OF ABUSE OR ACCIDENT.
MY DASHBOARD IS SEVERELY CRACKED AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AND CLUSTER, WHICH A MAY CAUSE MALFUNCTIONING OF THE AIR-BAG. I HAVE DONE NUMEROUS SEARCHES ON THE INTERNET AND I AM SEEING THIS SAME COMPLAINT OVER AND OVER. I AM VERY CURIOUS WITH IT HAPPENING SO MUCH WHY THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED AND GMC TAKEN CARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I AM EXTREMELY WORRIED ABOUT SAFETY AND THE HIGH COST OF REPAIRING THIS MYSELF, BUT I KNOW IT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF. I'VE OWNED GMC VEHICLES FOREVER AND HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY, UP UNTIL THIS POINT. A 2011 GMC YUKON DENALI WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW FROM HENDRICK DURHAM AUTO MALL IN DURHAM, NC. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN KEPT IN GREAT CONDITION AND IS SERVICED REGULARLY. THE DASH HAS A LARGE CRACK AND SPLINTERING ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE MANY OTHER GMC AND CHEVROLET PRODUCTS WITHIN THIS LINE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS VEHICLE HAD A STICKER COST OVER $60,000 AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE ISSUE AND ONLY OFFER A DISCOUNT. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING BECAUSE MANY OF THE DASHES ARE ALSO CRACKING IN THE AREA OF THE AIRBAGS. THIS CAN POSSIBLY CREATE SHRAPNEL UPON DEPLOYMENT CONSIDERING HOW BRITTLE THE DASHES ARE. *TR

THE DASH OF MY YUKON XL 2011 IS CRACKING. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND GMC IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. ALSO, THE BUTTONS ON THE A/C ARE WEARING OFF. I THINK FOR WHAT WE PAY FOR THE VEHICLES WE SHOULD HAVE BETTER QUALITY. I HAVE 2 SISTERS THAT ALSO DRIVE THE SAME VEHICLE AND BOTH OF THEIR DASHES ARE CRACKED ALSO. I HAVE A 2011 GMC YUKON, I RECENTLY LEARNED FROM GMC THAT THEY HAVE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES BY WHERE THEY SHUT OFF RANDOMLY WHEN AN RFID KEY TAG IN OR AROUND THE VEHICLE INTERRUPTS THE VEHICLES ELECTRONICS. OUR VEHICLE HAS TURNED ITSELF OFF ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHICH HAS CREATED A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY FAMILY DRIVING OUR YUKON. GMC DISCOVERED/REPORTED THIS ISSUE INTERNALLY IN JUNE OF 2015, AND OUR DEALERSHIP RELUCTANTLY PROVIDED ME WITH A COPY OF THE GMC BULLETIN (SEE ATTACHED). GM SAYS THEY CANNOT FIX THE ISSUE AND WILL NOT REPURCHASE OUR VEHICLE. GM SAYS IT IS NOT A SAFETY CONCERN BUT WILL NOT PUT THAT IN WRITING, THEIR EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK DOES NOT PERMIT THEM TO PUT MATTERS LIKE THIS IN WRITING AS IT CAN BE USED AGAINST THEM IN THE EVENT OF A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. I'VE CONTACTED EVERY LEVEL WITHIN GM, UP TO THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE, IN AN ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE MY ISSUE AND THEY HAVE RUN ME IN CIRCLES AND DENIED THE KNOW PROBLEM IS A RISK TO THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY. THIS MESSAGING WAS REPORTED DOWN FROM THE GM EXECUTIVE LIAISON, LAWANDA DEAN, FROM A MAN NAMED ROD (WILL NOT DISCLOSE HIS LAST NAME) WHO IS THE REGIONAL MANAGER OF GMC, OVER CALIFORNIA. I'D LIKE TO KNOW WHY THIS IS NOT A RECALLABLE ISSUE, WHY GM IS ALLOWED TO NOT FIX SUCH AN ISSUE AND IF THE NHTSA WILL ASSIST ME WITH THIS MATTER. HAD GMC TOLD ME THAT MY YUKON WOULD RANDOMLY SHUT OFF WE NEVER WOULD HAVE PURCHASED IT.
AS I WAS DRIVING I NOTICED IN THE REFLECTION OF MY WINDSHIELD A CRACK IN THE DASHBOARD. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION I SAW THAT THERE WAS A CRACK THAT RAN FROM THE VENT ON THE DASHBOARD UP TOWARD THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AS THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD, GOOD CONDITION, WITH 31000 MILES ON IT. IT IS MY CONCERN THAT THIS CRACK AS OTHERS UNLESS FIXED WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD AND BECOME A LARGER SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. *TR
Manufacturing flaw in the dash in certain model years causing dash to crack in multiple places without any outside influence.
I HAVE A 2011 YUKON HYBRID 2WD. ON AUGUST 234D, 2014 MY (XXX) YEAR OLD SON AND I WERE RUNNING ERRANDS WHILE EN ROUTE TO HIS BIRTHDAY PARTY. AT OUR FIRST DESTINATION HE NOTICED SOME FLUID LEAKING FROM UNDER THE YUKON AND SAID HE HEARD A HISSING SOUND. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST CONDENSATION AND CONTINUED ON. WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE AT OUR SECOND DESTINATION I NOTICED A LOT OF FLUID TRAILING WHERE I HAD JUST DRIVEN THE YUKON. UPON EXITING THE PARKING LOT THE BRAKES TURNED TO MUSH (THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESISTANCE) AND I HAD NO BRAKING CAPABILITIES. I PULLED OFF INTO A PARKING SPACE AND PUT THE CAR IN PARK. WHEN IT WAS TAKEN TO GMC ,THE MECHANIC FOUND THE BRAKE LINE TO BE BROKEN AND WE HAD TO COVER THE FULL COST FOR THE REPAIR. ON MAY 29TH 2015 A SIMILAR INCIDENT OCCURRED. I WAS DRIVING THE YUKON TO DROP MY CHILDREN OFF AT SCHOOL AND UPON APPROACHING THE DROP-OFF ZONE I PUSHED ON THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN AND I LOST ALL BRAKING CAPABILITIES AS THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESISTANCE. THE STABILITRACK MAINTENANCE LIGHT CAME ON AFTER. IN BOTH INCIDENTS, THERE WAS NO WARNING. I NO LONGER WANT TO BE AN OWNER OF A GMC YUKON AS I FEAR FOR THE LIVES OF MY CHILDREN WHEN THEY ARE IN THE VEHICLE.PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
THE VEHICLE'S DASHBOARD NEAR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG CRACKED AND THEN CREATED A HOLE WITH NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO IT BEING DONE. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL OTHER REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO SIMILAR VEHICLES BY OTHER CUSTOMERS. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS AS IT LEAVES SHARP ANGLES AND COULD SERIOUSLY INJURE A PASSENGER IF THE AIRBAG SHOULD DEPLOY. THERE IS A SERIOUS FLAW IN THE DASHBOARD THAT WARRANTS IMMEDIATE FIXES BY GMC. *TR
THE DASHBOARD OF THE VEHICLE HAS CRACKED SIGNIFICANTLY. I'M CONCERNED THAT THE INTEGRITY OF THE DASH IS NOW COMPRISED AND IF I WERE TO BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT PIECES COULD BE DISCHARGED AND INJURE MYSELF OR A PASSENGER. ADDITIONALLY, THE ISSUE COULD BE COMPOUNDED SHOULD THE AIR BAG DEPLOY AND THE BROKEN, LOOSE PORTIONS OF THE DASH BE CAUGHT IN THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG, DISCHARGING AT AN ACCELERATED SPEED.
DASH BOARD IS CRACKING.
TAKATA RECALL - MY AIRBAGS HAVEN'T BEEN REPLACED. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AS A CERTIFIED PREOWNED VEHICLE 6/2014 AND PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. SHORTLY AFTER, I NOTICED MY DASH WAS CRACKED. I TOOK VEHICLE IN AND WAS TOLD ABOUT THE TAKATA AIRBAGS. WAS ALSO TOLD THE SIZE OF THE AIRBAG CAUSES DASHES TO CRACK. THEY REPLACED IT 8/14. APPROX 6 MONTHS LATER IT CRACKED AGAIN, THIS TIME ITS MUCH WORSE. THEY WON'T REPAIR IT FOR FREE OR UNDER WARRANTY. THEY ONLY OFFER A 1 TIME COURTESY REPAIR. THEY ALSO SAID IT WILL CONTINUE TO CRACK BECAUSE OF THE AIRBAG. SO NOW WHAT? I'M SUPPOSED TO DRIVE THIS WAY. THE ENTIRE DASH RATTLES WHILE DRIVING. IF I DRIVE OVER SPEED BUMPS YOU CAN SEE IT BOUNCE. IF THE DASH IS CRACKED AND THE AIRBAGS ARE DEFECTIVE, HOW DO I PROTECTED FOR POSSIBLE INJURY? AM, I SUPPOSED TO KEEP SHELLING OUT $250 FOR DASH REPLACEMENTS THAT WILL CONTINUE TO CRACK? PLEASE HELP! I LIKE MY VEHICLE OTHERWISE, BUT THIS IS NOT SAFE. AND, IT'S A TOP DOLLAR DENALI. UNACCEPTABLE. I'M NOT SURE WHEN IT CRACKED. I WOULD SAY IT WAS STATIONARY, BECAUSE I DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS CRACKED UNTIL I WAS ON THE ROAD AND HEARD IT RATTLE.
ALL 3 OF MY GM VEHICLES HAVE CRACKS IN THE DASHES. ALL THREE IN THE SAME LOCATION OF THE UPPER RIGHT PANEL AND THEN IN OTHER PLACES.
