The contact owns a 2014 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that on four separate occasions, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted after 10 minutes on the first occasion but started a lot sooner during the later failures. Additionally, the contact stated that at the last failure, while idling at a red light, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to a dealer; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 192,150.
FOULED SPARK AND EXCESSIVE DEPOSIT FORMATION IN THE PISTON RING GROOVES ALONG WITH EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION. THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE VEHICLE, BUT IS RATHER A KNOWN ISSUE DUE TO DESIGN DEFECTS WITH THE PCV SYSTEM, WHICH HAS NOT BEEN ADEQUATELY ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER. TSB 10-06-01-008M ADDRESSES THIS EXACT CONDITION. GMC HAS ADVISED ON THE APPROPRIATE CORRECTIVE ACTIONS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES, BUT STILL REQUIRES CUSTOMERS TO BEAR THE COSTS OF CORRECTING THE DEFECT. VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 83,000 MILES ON IT.
