While driving on the highway, engine suddenly shut down, no warnings or alarms were noticed, during the last engine start or during driving, engine is not able to start again, even after trying to jump it, all electronics respond
I was sitting at a stop light and my vehicle completely failed without any warning. Was not able to start, etc. it was completely dead. There was no notice of issues or problems; no messages, no lights, etc. The vehicle had to be towed to a dealer and has been sitting for over 5 weeks waiting for a new motor. I was told that there is no timeline for when a new motor will be available and that it could be months! I travel with my vehicle for work so it is really needed!
We were driving our 2023 GMC Yukon AT4 from Phoenix, Arizona to Flagstaff, Arizona, which is about 2.5 hours north. A few hours into our drive, about 40 miles away from Flagstaff, as we were driving ~75mph on the [XXX] highway (in the middle of nowhere), all of the sudden our GMC just stopped working - it started slowing down on its own, put itself into Neutral, and nothing was working. We were able to pull over to the side of the road where we used OnStar to reach GMC Service, who called us a tow truck. As we were on with OnStar we tried restarting the vehicle and nothing was responsive. For hours our family, two adults and one child, were stuck on the side of the [XXX] highway with semi-trucks flying by us waiting for the tow truck. We were then told the two truck could only fit two persons, so I had to order my own Uber to pickup myself and my son in the middle of nowhere, leaving my husband to wait alone, dangerously, for the tow truck. Important to note a major winter storm was coming in this afternoon, so with no power it was also freezing cold in the broken down vehicle. The GMC was towed to the Chevy dealer/service center in Flagstaff, who was able to have a mechanic look at the vehicle that day. After a few hours they contacted us and let us know the entire engine blew and would need to be replaced. They let us know this is a "known issue" with certain Chevy/GMC/Cadillac SUV's that have the 6.2 engine. We purchased this vehicle brand new in late 2023 - at the time of this "catastrophic engine failure" issue, it had only ~12,000 miles on it. We were forced to leave our GMC in Flagstaff for repair, and told it would likely be 4 weeks or more to get the new engine. We were also left without a 4x4 vehicle for the entirety of our "vacation" in a major winter storm. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to failure. I was traveling on the highway when my 2023 Yukon Denali engine shut off and switched to the neutral gear with any warnings. The dashboard display read "press start again" as I coasted to the shoulder of the highway. I was able to put the vehicle in "park" and re-start the engine after a couple of tries. I got a couple miles down the road, got off on an exit ramp then it shut off again and I again coasted to the shoulder of the highway. Again the display read "press start again", but this time the vehicle would NOT restart at all. I had full electrical power in the vehicle during both engine failures. I had the vehicle towed to my local GMC dealership. The dealership told me that I needed a new engine after assessing the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2023 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle was able to be restarted. The contact became aware that the vehicle had entered LIMP Mode. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 44,000.
This vehicle had a complete engine failure. We lost power and could not start it. We were stranded on a busy highway. This all happened going 65 mph. The dealer told us that we would need a complete engine replacement. We had about 16,500 miles on it. I personally know two other people that this has happened too.
We own a 2023 GMC Yukon Denali with the 6.2L engine. On [XXX], I was driving to work and merging into traffic on [XXX] just south of Nashville. When getting up to speed, the engine shut off and the truck started to decelerate. Only warning light was notification to "Hit Start Button" - which off course I was feverously doing as I was in rush-hour traffic. Luckily, I was able to move across two lanes and came to a stop on the freeway shoulder. Called OnStar services where they sent a tow truck, but the driver didn't know how to tow the truck since he was unable to shift into 'neutral' as the electronic system didn't allow that without the motor on. A second tow truck was sent by my local dealer and then they had to 'drag' the Yukon onto the tow truck bed so they could haul it. After the dealer reviewed the issue, determined we needed an entire motor as the engine oil had metal shavings in it and had frozen the motor. We are one of seven vehicles at our dealership waiting on a new 6.2L motor. GM has provided a large SUV rental during the time we have been waiting. The contact owns a 2023 GMC Yukon. The contact stated while her husband was driving at 75 MPH, the vehicle independently accelerated without depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the transmission started to downshift, and the vehicle started losing motive power. The contact's husband merged to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. While the vehicle was off, the message to press enter to start the vehicle was displayed; however, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer and diagnosed with total engine failure. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired because the vehicle was not under recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.
My engine blew up while merging onto the interstate. The vehicle completely shut down. A few minutes prior I could tell there was an issue but until that moment there were no warning lights or issues that could be detected. Vehicle has been at the GMC dealership almost a month waiting for a new engine that is currently on back order
Vehicle stopped working on a major road almost in the intersection in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The Vehicle is not able to be put in neutral to safely push it away to safer area. Had to be towed back to Texas at my expense of $400 and Service department says it is due to a blown 6.2l motor.
The engine lost power then suddenly stopped running while driving on an interstate.
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY ON 2/21/25. MY 2023 YUKON (WITH GM ENGINE L87 IN IT) WARNING LIGHT CAME ON CALLING THAT THE TRUCK SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, PRESS START. PULLED OVER TO BREAK DOWN LANE, RESTARTED AND WENT ON OUR WAY. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANY TYPE OF ISSUE AND STATED TO BRING BY IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. 8 DAYS LATER THE 2023 YUKON WITH GM ENGINE L87 SIEZED ON 3/1/25 WITH ~23,000 ON IT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. VECHIE WAS TOWED TO GMC DEALERSHIP WHERE THE SUV WAS PURCHASED AND HAS BEEN SITTING EVER SINCE WHILE WE WAIT FOR A NEW ENGINE COME IN. DEALER HAS BEEN HELPFUL, BUT I HAVE READ THAT THERE IS A BIGGER ISSUE WTH THE L87 ENGINE.
The Onstar module becomes inoperable due to a fault with the onstar module. This is a known issue on many forums and GM has yet to issue a fix with mass reported Onstar module failures. This fault renders useless the safety systems.
The contact owns a 2023 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle independently shifted into neutral and stalled in the middle of the highway. An unknown message was displayed. In addition, after restarting the vehicle, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that the transmission then shifted into neutral(N) independently after driving for several miles. The contact stated that the vehicle would not crank and was towed to a local dealer. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to shift into neutral and was towed while in park(P). The vehicle was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the local dealer for further investigation. The contact related the failure to GM investigation: PE25001. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,549.
Engine had catastrophic failure, engine shut down with no warning while driving at highway speed. Huge vehicle safety concern.
On Friday 2/21/25, while driving on the Interstate at Highway speeds, the dashboard said to idle the engine. The engine then stalled and thankfully I had enough speed and there was a shoulder available to pull off on. The dashboard then gave many messages including voltage, overheating, high oil temperature, idle engine, etc... I was unable to restart the vehicle on the side of the interstate. I was towed to the dealer who advised the engine would have to be replaced. This vehicle has a 6.2L gas engine with 39,223 (approx) miles.
catastrophic engine failure
Traveling at 65 MPH on highway when electronic dash went completely blank, audio on car stopped as did the engine! Steering of vehicle remained in tact so I was fortunate to be able to "coast" to the side of the highway. GMC Dealer has confirmed a total engine failure and stated they will need to replace the entire engine. There were no prior warnings, symptoms or problems with my vehicle prior to this incident.
I was driving home from work at around 60 mph. Very sunddly their was a rattling metal sounds and then vehicle struggled to maintain speed. Before pulling off the highway at the next exit. On the exit ramp the engine turned off and would not turn back on. The vehicle was also stuck in neutral and not able to shift out of neutral for towing. There was no worning lamps or messages even after the noise and reduced power. Vehicle was towed to local dealership on Tuesday evening, as this was not scheduled it took them to diagnosis the issue as engine failure and recommending to replace the engine. The vehicle is a 6.2L GMC Yukon Denali with 23k miles. All service has been done at the dealer with no outstanding work prior to the engine failure. Where it gets more disappointing is the lack of information for time to fix. The replacement engine was ordered by the dealer on February 14th. As of February 28th they did not have any information....So i called GMC on that 1800 number listed on GM Document DCS6866 referencing customer satisfaction program N232413430. The first agent disconnected without filing a case. The second agent had to restart the process and was told that there was nothing they would do for 14 days after the case was opened before it would be elevated. When talking to the agent they denied any information related to the GM Customer Satisfaction Program or any knowledge of what seems to be a wide spread defect on 6.2L engines. The service and support for a $90k vehicle from, in fairness they have provided access to rental vehicle from a local auto shop. The vehicle is far smaller and different from our vehicle we purchased. The vehicle is still sitting at the dealership service center and is not functional until the engine is repalced.
The contact owns a 2023 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while reversing, the rearview camera failed to display an image, compromising the back-over prevention system. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 800.
While driving my 2023 Yukon Denali on [XXX] towards [XXX] , the check engine light came on and my truck stopped hard as if I jammed the brea but my foot was still on the gas and the RPM’s was moving. I was lucky that I was in the far right lane and there was no car behind me at the time or I would have caused an accident. I after 30 minutes waiting on the side of the road, I started up my 2023 Denali after letting it sit and put it in drive and drove 30 mph because I did not want to take the chance of my suv stopping abruptly again. I contacted a GMC Dealership and explained the situation and I told I am on my own and I would have to pay up to $10,000 for a engine and it would be no guarantee of being reimbursed by GM should I need a engine. i was with my entire family 3 hours from home on a ski trip loaded with gear and the motor decided to go. i had to pull into an abandoned lot, leave my family in a car with no heat, walk 6 miles up a mountain to get another vehicle and pick up the family. Then i had to call a local tow company to drive out pick up the vehicle and myself and drive 3 hours home drop the vehicle at the dealer and then myself at home. The vehicle was not even pulled in for 2 weeks to be looked at (no other vehicle was available) and then they told us the motor was shot - lifters cam and other things and that the head gasket was on back order indefinitly. This happened the beginning of February its now March 6, the vehicle is in pieces at the dealer with no time frame of when we can get it back. Meanwhile its costing me 1670$/ mo plus insurance. For a 100k$ vehicle to go with 30k miles is wildly unacceptable. I have had no luck getting a return call from a representative with GM which is why i am filing this complaint now.
While driving the 370 miles from Fairbanks to Anchorage with our family and dogs, our vehicle shut down completely with no warning. The drive is through a very remote section of Alaska. While passing a slower vehicle, our Yukon completely shut down, to include the all controls including the dash and lights. We were unable to complete the pass, leaving us in direct line with on coming traffic with no ability to speed up to get around the other vehicle. The other vehicle, not knowing we had lost all power, continued driving the same speed and eventually we were able to get back into the proper lane and coast to a stop on the side of the 2 lane highway. The vehicle would not start and with the temperatures outside at 12 degrees it got chilly fast. Luckily we travel with all of our winter gear. Had this incident happened on one of the many steep descents or curves with snow and ice, the outcome could have been disastrous. My wife has decided that if the vehicle does get fixed, she does not feel safe driving home in it. Reading online forums show that this is a very common occurrence and individuals are looking into a class action lawsuit against GM due to the safety issues associated with this. An individual passing by had a code reader and tried to reset the ECM but could not. I will include the report.
Engine Failure at 19K 14Months old 6.2L 2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate "EVERYONE IS HAVING AN ISSUE THESE ENGINES COMING APART" LOW MILAGE
Motor locked up and went into neutral on it’s on driving 60mph. I was able to restart the vehicle and then it completely shut down at red light in a main intersection.
Driving at a slow rate of speed turning onto my road the engine started making a loud knocking noise, I could actually feel the knocking through the steering wheel and seat. Loss of power due to the problem. No warning before the issue started. Had to have vehicle towed to my local dealer. They are currently looking into the problem.
Our Yukon Denali at around 34k miles lost power while in motion, it automatically put it in neutral and said try to restart. Rolled to a stop in a turn lane and when we tried to start ignition…nothing happened. On star was called and ran diagnostic, showing no issue. Towed vehicle to dealership and the engine seized up. 4 piston rods had broke and the engine needed to be rebuilt.
While we were driving at a high speed all control of the vehicle shut down. There was absolutely no warning that this was going to happen to that anything in the vehicle was breaking down. We were able to get to the side of the road and the vehicle locked into N. From that point on the car did not work. After being looked at my GMC, they decided that it needs a new engine. It only has under 15K miles. We were told that some somehow pieces of metal were in the engine. Engines are currently on a national backorder and we have been without our vehicle for over 4 weeks. They have no expected date that this will be fixed.
Vehicle suddenly lost all power at speed, coasted to a stop. No waring indicators, stopped in a lane of traffic, speed limit was 55mph. Engine is now seized.
On Jan. 19, 2025, while driving home, I started hearing a loud knocking noise from my engine. Lucky I was still on residential streets so I was able to safely pull over to a parking lot. I was planning to drive the 40 miles home on the freeway when my wife said it might not be safe. That was when I decided to drive to my sister's house. Only when I pulled into the drive way the check engine light finally came on. The next day, I had the vehicle towed to the dealership and they diagnosed that I needed a new engine. They did not go into specifics as to why I will need a whole new engine but they did tell me that this was common and that they had other vehicles waiting for an engine also. My vehicle has been sitting there since.
The engine started making a rattling sound while on an interstate. The vehicle was able to make it to the next exit before it immediately lost power leaving it on the shoulder of a narrow road just past the exit ramp of the interstate. The vehicle was towed to a local GM dealership where technicians confirmed the engine was no good. This is the second engine that this vehicle has had replaced one at 18000 miles and one at 20000 miles. The engine failed with no clear warning signs, no check engine light, and no obvious causes like low oil.
The contact owns a 2023 GMC Yukon. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed that it might take approximately 6 months to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,118.
My vehicle was being driven by my Nanny and had my children in the car, the engine started making a strange noise so she was required to pull over on a busy highway bridge in Tulsa, OK. There was no warning of any issues with the vehicle before this incident. It then would not start and had to be towed to a GMC Dealership in Broken Arrow, OK. They informed me the entire engine is locked up and has to be rebuilt.
GM has failed to resolve repeated issues on my vehicle (VIN: [XXX] ). I was never notified of any official buyback denial. GM Customer Assistance continues to avoid clarifying the status and refuses to provide documentation of the denial. This creates an unresolved safety and reliability concern. I need an investigation into the consistent mechanical defects paired with GM’s refusal to properly process my claim. January 16, 2025: Driving down the interstate near Atlanta Ga going 75 MPH, our 2023 Yukon Denali with 28,585 miles on it, abruptly started gearing down. The vehicle would not accelerate, it was coming to a stop on its on. Traffic was very heavy and it was a very scary situation. After managing to get the vehicle barely off the interstate it totally lost power and would not start. The vehicle was towed to the local GMC Dealership and within 30 minutes they told us the engine had locked up. We had to get a rental car to continue our trip and haven’t had much luck, so far, getting reimbursed. As of today February 6th, GMC cannot give us an estimated repair date as our engine is on back order!
The engine turned off while driving TWICE with NO WARNING. The first time the engine turned off without warning doing around 60MPH but was able to be restarted and ran normally for about a week or so. The second and final time that the engine turned off without warning was about a week after the first incident. The engine would not restart, in fact, it would not even crank. The vehicle was towed to the dealership where it was determined to be a crankshaft bearing failure causing a bottom end engine failure. Metal shavings were found in the oil pan. Vehicle is only 14 months old and has 22,754 miles. All service was done by dealer at manufacturers suggested intervals.
While driving, with no preliminary warning, the engine shut down and I lost power. System showed a "PRESS START" message on the dash. I coasted to a stop blocking traffic on a neighborhood street. After two weeks at dealership, I was notified it was engine failure, and I need a new engine. As of now, engines are on back order and there is no ETA.
While driving down the highway, the engine completely locked up upon diagnosis at the dealership we were informed that repairs could take 4 to 8 months
L87 Engine suddenly, withoiut warning started having a severe engine rod knock. Safety put at risk because the engine could blowup and lock vehicle up. Dealer confirmed rod knock and will replace engine under warranty. ZERO prior indication (No SES or other warning lights).
I took my SUV (Yukon SLT 2023) to the GMC Dealership 4/5 months ago because of 2 recalls, Failed Brake Fluid Leak Detection and Serial Data Gateway Model. The car was repaired according to the dealership. About 2 weeks ago, I entered my garage to auto start my vehicle and my SUV would not auto start. I waited a few minutes and tried to start it again from inside the vehicle and it started. When it started, the engine light was on and on the dashboard, brake system failure was displaying. It was very strange. So, I let my vehicle idle for a couple of minutes and tried to move the car in the garage. The car started jerking when I put it in drive and a message displayed on the dashboard telling me not to drive my SUV over 40 mph. The brake system failure and engine light were still on. It was very strange. I parked my SUV and let it sit. I'm taking my SUV back to the dealership on Thursday. I'm thankful I wasn't on the highway traveling to work, who knows what could have happened. There are massive problems with these vehicles, brakes, engine, computer systems, etc. I do not feel safe driving my SUV. I drive 41 miles each way for work and I don't feel safe driving this vehicle now with all the recalls, including the engine.
The contact owns a 2023 GMC Yukon. The contact stated while driving at approximately 65 MPH, there was an abnormal clicking sound from the engine compartment. The contact stated that there were no warning lights illuminated. The contact arrived at the destination and checked under the engine compartment and saw engine oil covering the undercarriage of the vehicle. The contact had recently had an oil change performed by the dealer. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer and was informed that the oil filter was not tightened correctly and refilled the reservoir and replaced the oil filter. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that after returning to his home state, the contact heard the clicking sound and checked the oil dipstick. The contact stated that the dipstick was not reading any oil in the engine. The contact checked under the vehicle, however this time there was no visible sign of an oil leak. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that oil needed to be added. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was shaking as if it was going to stall. The contact stated that there were no warning lights illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
1. The authorized dealer repair center stated my engine has failed and needs to be replaced. It is currently at the dealer so it's unknown if it is available for inspection. I'm sure if the inspector would go to the dealer I can make that process happen. 2. The point of complete engine failure has not occurred as of yet to me so It is unknown how this would effect my safety. One would have to assume that engine failure could always be a safety problem if driving when it occurred. 3. The problem I reported has been confirmed by the authorized dealer. 4. The vehicle has been inspected by the authorized dealer repair center but I am not aware of any other people that performed same inspection. 5. There was a knocking noise come from the engine when I accelerated and loss of power when accelerating. The noise was first detected 12/24/24 and I made an appointment with the authorized dealer repair center online. My vehicle was dropped off the first available day on 12/26/24. I have time & date video of the engine issue if wanted.
The contact owns a 2023 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving on the highway at 60 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that there were metal fragments inside the engine. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 31,000.
On [XXX], at approximately [XXX]., I was driving down a highway and my vehicle engine just stopped. The dash went blank, I lost power and steering and there was no warning. I had enough momentum to partially stop on the shoulder of the highway but part of the vehicle was still in the flow of traffic. It was a dangerous situation for sure, especially since I had my [XXX] son in the car with me. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership where I purchased it, they said it was a connecting rod failure and I would need a new engine. This was on [XXX] and I still do not have my vehicle, they said the engine was on backorder. I have been in regular contact with GMC customer service and they have been largely unhelpful and unwilling to explore any other option that me just waiting for an engine to come it. I am now in my 9th week without my vehicle. The way they have treated me is unacceptable and they have not even acknowledged the danger that this defect put me and my son. My vehicle started making a terrible noise. I had it towed to the nearest GM service center. It was determined that the vehicle, a 2023 Yukon Denali (less than 26000 miles) needed a new engine due to thrust bearing failure causing the engine block to be scored and contamination of debris internally.
my 2023 GMC Yukon Denali (VIN: [XXX] ), which is included in Safety Recall N252494003 for a known defect affecting the L87 6.2L V8 engine. My vehicle was first inspected under warranty in December 2024 at Serra Traverse City Buick GMC due to a burning smell. I was informed at that time that no issues were found. I was later told by the former service manager that the technician who evaluated my vehicle during that visit was let go due to poor workmanship and lack of product knowledge. Since that time, on two separate oil changes — January 8, 2025 and May 9, 2025 — my engine was found completely out of oil, with no oil on the dipstick. The documentation had to be retroactively added after my request. This pattern raises serious concerns about oil consumption or internal engine damage consistent with the recall defect. The dealership declined to replace the engine or perform any further diagnostics beyond the standard recall inspection. I was advised to retrieve the vehicle. However, I remain deeply concerned about the long-term safety and reliability of this vehicle, especially given GM’s acknowledgment that this defect may lead to engine failure and loss of propulsion. I have made multiple efforts to escalate this issue through both the dealership and GM’s customer service line. I was advised by Service Advisor [XXX] to contact the GM representative for regional review. He directed me to file a bbb claim.. Both GM and bbb denied my claim, stating out of warranty. However, the dealer explained that my issue were documented under warranty and would be handled appropriately if the issue persisted. GM contacted me an offered a $4000 credit. Unfortunately the problem still persist. I’m 3000 miles from being due for an oil change and again have no oil on my dipstick. I have been told the MODULE ASM-COMN INTERFAC Part #86581706 has failed and is on back order, with no anticipated in stock date, and not available to be repaired. This controls the vehicles communication with Onstar which is currently not working. Onstar is sold as a safety feature of the vehicle. In addition I do not have access to the location services of the vehicle, also sold as a safety feature of the vehicle. The vehicle is available to inspection. The problem has been inspected by a GMC Dealer. There were no warning lamps, messages or promts when the module failed. I had to have the failure diagnosed by the dealer to locate the failure.
On [XXX] driving to Las Vegas Nevada from Garden Grove California, coming down the hill north on [XXX] just 12 miles from state line our GMC shut off and went into Neutral. The Engine completely shut off and we were lucky to pull over on the side of the road with no power. Our Vehicle was towed to Auto Nation GMC in Henderson NV. The Vehicle is still there due to no engines available. My GMC case number is [XXX]. I have agreed to a repurchase from GMC and accepted their offer, however now they are stalling. While passing on a two-lane road at approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle stalled and acted as if the engine wasn't running. Pulled over to the side of the road and was able to restart the engine after shifting to park. Engine was harder to start than usual and cranked slowly. After restarting, the engine ran fine for the remainder of the trip, but would occasionally have difficulty cranking. After this incident, the engine developed a knock that would vary with engine RPM, and sounded like a defective connecting rod bearing. Pulled the dipstick and noticed metal shavings in the oil. Took the vehicle to local dealership who confirmed the engine was defective and would require replacement. Vehicle has been at the dealership since December 5th waiting for a backordered engine.
The contact owns a 2023 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the transmission shifter failed to shift from park. The contact stated that the "Braking System", Brake Pad Monitor, and Traction Control messages were displayed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 44,871.
