The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently stalled. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after waiting approximately two hours. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.
I saw NHTSA is investigating some Honda vehicles for unnecessary emergency braking incidents. I've had this problem as well and wanted to report it. The 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid, multiple times over the past 3+ years, has engaged the brakes when there were no cars in front of me. From my recollection this happens at medium to high speeds (40mph+) so if someone were behind me they may rear-end my car. This has happened probably a half dozen times over the past 3 years but there is no way to reliably reproduce it as it seems random. I haven't had any inspections, nor are there any warning lamps or messages relating to this. Note: The date I am including is not necessarily when it happened as I don't have those dates. But it's required.
Vehicle repeatedly experiences a "cylinder misfire error" when driving above 45 mph. The check engine light will flash and the car surges like it is stalling. Loss of the ability to accelerate when it occurs. Also, the car shakes violently when the vehicle comes to a stop before turning off the engine. Many times, after restarting problem temporarily stops. I have taken it to the dealership multiple times, but problem is unsolved. Happens at least once a week. Started at 58,000 miles. More recently, the vehicle experiences a safety system failure when driving above 45 mph. 10 system warning lights were activated and will continually appear on instrument panel. Warning lights activated: 1. Hill Start Assist Problem 2. Adaptive Cruise Control System Problem 3. Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem 4. Road Departure Mitigation System Problem 5. Emission System Problem 6. Tire Pressure Monitor System Problem 7.Brake System Problem 8. Electric Power Steering System Problem 9.Vehicle Stability Assist System Problem 10. Brake Hold System Problem
Passenger door well not unlock from key fob (keyless unlock a door) or inside unlock switch. This is an intermittent problem and Honda dealer cannot resolve it. I believe this imposes a safety hazard. I cannot get in unless I use the key or go round to the passenger side and crawl over to the inside door latch.
Twice the brake hold system didn't hold and creeping up on vehicle in front. I stomped on the brakes and it delayed in engaging almost hitting the car in front. For several moments the brakes wouldn't respond. (Where was the car going? We were stopped, brake hold engaged.) Previously the dealership checked the brake hold system, saying it was okay.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated when attempting to park, the vehicle accelerated on its own and hit the vehicle in front of them causing damage to their front driver side headlight and the grill was caved in. The contact had to depress on the brake pedal and hit the ignition switch for the vehicle to stop accelerating. No warning light's illuminated on the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. No one was injured. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an auto body shop that repaired the physical damage to the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who inspected the vehicle but could not diagnose the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired, however, the contact concern was that failure could reoccur. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,504.
We were driving down the road, when my car automatically “detected” a car in front of me and braked extremely hard. Thing is, there were no car or obstacle in front is. I was able to catch that on my dash cam.
2019 HONDA ACCORD. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO A/C CONDENSER SAFETY RECALL. THE CONSUMER INQUIRED ABOUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY IN REFRENCE TO CORROSION AND REFRIGERANT LEAKS DUE TO DEFECTIVE AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSERS. THE CONSUMER STATED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL.
The Lane Departure Warning. Auto Dimming Headlights,, and traffic sign Recognition system stopped working at about 40000 miles. The dealer says they can't fix it. Also, my windshield, like so many others I've read about, spontaneously cracked while parked, on a day with moderate temperature and no hail. The camera was realigned. Still, the 3 sensing aids above still don't work. Uncertain about exact date
On 6/25/21, while driving my 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Ex-L, at a speed of 30-40 mph the car displayed various warnings. I was on a major road with no where to pull over. Within about a block the car unexpectedly braked hard and slowed down from about 40 to 15 mph. I attempted to press on the gas to avoid causing an accident but, the car continued at the slower speed and did not react to my gas press. This issue then cleared and I was able to accelerate. This was very scary but to make it worse about a 1/2 block later my car veered to the left and out of my lane, again at this point I was on high alert and the veer was not correct. I was able to gain control and get the vehicle back in the correct lane. I then pulled into a parking lot(~1 block later). I tried to document all of the warnings at this time. I called Randy Kuehl Honda and decided to drive back roads to the dealership(~4 miles). Prior to arriving(~3.8 miles into drive), additional warnings were displayed. I arrived at the dealership and they said that the issue was because there was a crack in my brake light and water had gotten in. But I am having a hard time accepting that because of a busted taillight it is normal/acceptable/safe for the car to brake and swerve and lose all of the indicated systems. Seems like a pretty big SAFETY CONCERN. I can quickly find other instances similar to mine on the internet. Below is a list of all the warnings I was able to remember. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE NAVIGATION SCREEN WAS REBOOTING OR BLANK. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HERSONS HONDA (15525 FREDERICK RD, ROCKVILLE, MD 20855, (301)279-8600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A SOFTWARE UPDATE NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE REOCCURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE CMBS WILL BREAK AUTOMATICALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN ROUNDING CORNERS WHEN A SEMI IS NEXT TO IT. THE CAR SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN YOU DON'T EXPECT IT IS VERY SCARY. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES.
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD HAS A STRESS CRACK FROM EDGE OF FRAME TO CENTER OF WINDSHIELD. AND IT'S WITH NO APPARENT REASON OR IMPACT. ON THE EXTERIOR, THE CRACK IS APPARENT BY SIGHT BUT CANNOT BE FELT BY TOUCH. THE CRACK LOOKS TO BE INSIDE THE GLASS. THE CAR HAS BEEN DROPPED OFF AT THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP FOUR HOURS AGO AND WAITING FOR THEIR ASSESSMENT.
AT 2000 RPM WITH THE CAR IN MOTION THE ANC UNIT SETS UP A HARMONIC DRONE THAT IS VIRTUALLY DEAFENING AND UNSAFE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW. HONDA DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION AS OF YET AND THE DEALERS ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE SATISFACTION TO THE CUSTOMER.
IN WINTER: FOR THE FIRST 25 MINUTES ALL THE VENTS BLOW WARM AIR. AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 25 MINUTES, THE REAR VENTS AT THE BACK OF THE CENTER CONSOLE START BLOWING COLD AIR ONTO THE REAR SEAT PASSENGERS. IF THE CAR SITS WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, THE VENTS BLOW WARM AIR; BUT AFTER IT STARTS DRIVING, THE REAR VENTS BLOW COLD AIR AGAIN. WHENEVER I HAVE REAR SEAT PASSENGERS, I HAVE TO CLOSE THE REAR VENTS. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AND RECEIVED A MEANINGLESS ANSWER THAT THE HEAT WORKS. THIS HAS HAPPENED BOTH WINTERS I HAVE HAD THE CAR.
VERY LOUD ROARING NOISE WHEN DRIVING ABOUT 50 MPH IN COLD WEATHER ON A HIGHWAY. THIS NOT ENGINE NOISE, BUT SEEMS TO A GLITCH IN THE AUTOMATIC NOISE CANCELLING SYSTEM THAT CAUSES A FEEDBACK LOOP RESULTING IN AN ALARMING ROARING SOUND THAT CAN CAUSE DRIVER TO PANIC OR OTHERWISE BE DISTRACTED FROM DRIVING SAFELY.
ON DECEMBER 26, 2020, I WAS LEAVING WORK, AFTER A 12 HOUR SHIFT AT THE HOSPITAL. WHILE BACKING INTO AN ALLEYWAY MY CAR STRUCK A LARGE ROLL-OFF DUMPSTER (WHICH WAS CADDY CORNERED IN THE ALLEY) OF THE BACK, DRIVER QUARTER PANEL AND BACK DRIVER DOOR. THE REARVIEW CAMERA, BLIND SPOT WARNING, PARKING COLLISION WARNING, THE REAR CROSS TRAFFIC WARNING, NOR THE AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING KICKED IN. I WAS GOING AT A VERY LOW SPEED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT (~1-2 MPH). MY CAR HAD BEEN WARMED UP PRIOR TO GETTING IN IT.I DID NOT SPEND OVER 40K ON A VEHICLE FOR THE THE SAFETY FEATURES TO NOT WORK WHEN YOU NEED THEM TO. I HAVE NOTICED THAT I HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH MY LANE DEPARTURE WARNING AND THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING HAS BEEN NOT WORKING 100% OF THE TIME RECENTLY, BUT THAT NEVER BOTHERED ME BEFORE. WHAT IS UPSETTING IS THAT I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO HAVE HONDA REPLACE THE FRONT SENSOR DUE TO MY CAR THROWING CODES (LKAS, ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL & FRONT COLLISION WARNING) NOT FUNCTIONING, AS WELL AS MY BACK DRIVER DOOR LOCK (ALREADY GONE BAD). NOW THIS. MY CAR ISN'T EVEN 2 YEARS OLD.I TOOK MY CAR BY MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP (PRIORITY HONDA OF ROANOKE) ON 12/30/20 WHERE I WAS TOLD TO CONTACT AMERICAN HONDA BECAUSE OF THE RECALL ON THE BCM ON MY CAR AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS MOST LIKELY CONTRIBUTED TO THE ACCIDENT. AFTER CONTACTING AMERICAN HONDA I WAS BASICALLY TOLD THAT IT IS NOT A SAFETY RECALL BUT A "NON-COMPLIANCE" RECALL AND THAT THE SAFETY FEATURES THEY BOAST ABOUT ARE NOT ACTUAL SAFETY FEATURES OF THE CAR AND SHOULD NOT BE RELIED UPON IN ANY CASE. SO, THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH WORSE AND I AM THANKFUL THAT IT WASN'T, BUT I AM STILL SICKENED OVER THIS! I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW CAR FOR ITS SAFETY FEATURES THAT DON'T WORK, TO BE TOLD BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THEY ARE NOT LIABLE FOR THEIR PRODUCT NOT WORKING CORRECTLY.
I have a 2019 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring. I hear a very loud humming noise coming from the underside (both sides) of the car when I am driving between 50 and 55mph. It gets increasingly louder for a 5 - 10 second span, then goes away completely. It is more prevalent when there is a passenger in the front passenger seat and repeats when I am in that speed range, especially while going around a curve. It has not resulted in any handling issues yet, but I do not know what is being affected.
SHORTLY AFTER STARTING THE CAR, CAR SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELLERATING OVER 40 MPH. DO NOT MATTER WHICH MODE IT IS IN. ALL LEAD TO ENGINE SHUDDERING AND THE FLASHING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. WHEN NOT ENGAGED IN ECO MODE, I RECEIVED A NOTICE SAY CANCELING ECON MODE WHEN THE MODE WAS NOT EGAGED, THE TYPICAL PROCESS IS START CAR AND WITHIN A FEW MINUTES, ACCELERATE ABOVE 40 MPH AND WITHIN SECONDS GET A BLINKING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, A SHUDDERING ENGINE THAT IS SLOWING DOWN BELOW 60 MPG AND GETTING MORE VIOLENT, THIS BEGAN AFTER PICKING UP THE CAR FROM HAVING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED. I KNOW THERE IS OUT FOR THE GENERAL 2019 ACCORD MODEL, JUST NOT MY MODEL, BUT THE FUEL PUMP ISSUE SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR TO WHAT I AM EXPERIENCING WITH MY HONDA ACCORD. THE "SOLUTION" SO FAR IS PULL OVER AND TURN THE VEHICLE OVER AND RESTART IT AND HOPE FOR THE BEFORE, BUT IT ONLY GIVES A TEMPORARY FIX.
LOUD HUMMING NOISE WHEN DRIVING AT 52MPH. HAD SPEAKERS REPLACED WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO CORRECT PROBLEM WITH NOISE CANCELLATION SITUATION THAT WOULD CORRECT THE LOUD HUMMING NOISE BUT THAT DID NOT WORK. STILL HAVE LOUD HUMMING NOISE AT 52 MPH.
THE NOISE ISSUE HAS THESE FEATURES: 1. IT IS INTERMITTENT. IT COMES OUT RANDOMLY ON HIGHWAY, AND MAY CONTINUE FOR A FEW RANDOM SECONDS, THEN GOES AWAY. 2. IT IS LOW-FREQUENCY AND DOESN'T CHANGE. AS A COMPARISON, IT IS LOWER THAN 2500RPM ENGINE SOUND. 3. IT IS LOUDNESS-VARYING. EACH TIME IT COMES OUT WITH LITTLE LOUDNESS, BUT THEN INCREASES FOR THE NEXT FEW SECONDS TO AN UNCOMFORTABLE LEVEL. IT MAY STAY QUIET, OR INCREASE TO ANY LOUDNESS LEVEL BEFORE IT GOES AWAY. 4. IT IS MOSTLY DESCRIBED AS HUMMING NOISE. HOWEVER, IN MY OPINION NOT QUITE THE SAME AS ENGINE SOUND I HAVE HAD THIS NOISE FOR THE PAST 8 MONTHS. THIS NOISE TENDS TO COME ON AT AROUND 52-54 MPH, IT INCREASES IN LOUDNESS AND THEN PROMPTLY GOES AWAY. IT IS NOT ALWAYS REPRODUCEABLE AND EVEN THOUGH I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAY THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS. THEY NOTATE IT AND SEND ME ON MY WAY SAYING THEY CAN'T REPRODUCE THE SOUND. I HAVE RECORDED THE SOUND AND THEY TOLD ME THEY CAN'T HELP ME UNLESS THEY CAN REPRODUCE IT. I AM WORRIED THAT THIS MAY BE SOMETHING SERIOUS?
ON JULY 7TH, 2020 I WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT MY EMPLOYERS. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AS I COASTED INTO THE PARKING SPOT. THE AUTO SUDDENLY LURCHED, ACCELERATED, JUMPED THE CURB AND HIT A BRICK WALL. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE THE ENTIRE TIME. THE WALL IS WHAT STOPPED THE AUTO. I REPORTED THIS TO HONDA. THEY EVALUATED THE AUTO AND FOUND NO COMPUTER NOTIFICATIONS OF A MALFUNCTION AND THEREFORE NO ISSUES WITH THE CAR. I NO LONGER FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS AUTO.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL REVVING SOUND DETECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO STOKES HONDA NORTH (8650 RIVERS AVE, NORTH CHARLESTON, SC 29406, (843) 572-4700) BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED NOR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000.
CAR SUDDENLY BRAKES, PANIC BREAKING, WITH NO WARNING AND FOR NO REASON, CAUSING ME TO BE IN DANGER OF HITTING FROM BEHIND AS THERE IS NOTHING IN FRONT OF ME CAUSING THE PEOPLE BEHIND TO SLOW. ONCE THIS HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE, WITH ALL 3 LANES CLEAR IN FRONT OF ME. I WAS SURPRISED THE GUY BEHIND BE DIDN'T HIT ME, AS MOST DRIVERS ARE FOLLOWING TO CLOSE, COUNTING ON SEEING ANY DANGER IN FRONT OF THEM THROUGH MY WINDSHIELD, AND IN THIS CASE THERE WAS NOTHING.
My wife’s car and she was driving and the car applied brakes by itself and wife was force to move to the side on a highway. Took it to dealership and said that nothing was wrong with vehicle

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING INTO HER DAUGHTER?S DRIVEWAY ON A SLIGHT INCLINE, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS RELEASED AND THE VEHICLE UNINTENTIONALLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO HER THE GARAGE DOOR. THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED CHEST AND REAR OF HEAD INJURES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THORNHILL FORD (U.S. 119 NORTH 500 FORD FAIRLANE, CHAPMANVILLE, WV 25508) THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED AS THE VEHICLE BODY WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AS SHE PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCED ELECTRICAL AND BRAKE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000. *BF CONSUMER STATED CAR WOULD BRAKE ON IT'S OWN SOMETIMES.*JB
2ND OCCURENCE-WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH THE WARNINGS FOR BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE, ACC, LANE DEPARTURE MITIGATIONAND COLLISION DETECTION CAME ON. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS TOLD THAT THE SENSOR HAD BEEN DISLODGED. THIS TIME THEY ARE SAYING THAT THERE IS A CRACK IN THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY WHICH SET OFF THE WARNING SYSTEM. THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND A NEW BRAKE ASSEMBLY IS NEEDED. THE BRAKE LIGHTS WORK FINE. EVEN IF THEY WERE BOTH CONTROLLED BY THE SAME COMPUTER, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON AN OUTPUT FROM THE COMPUTER OR PEDAL SWITCH. THE WARNING SEEMS TO INDICATE THERE MIGHT BE PROBLEM WITH THE SENSOR WHICH WOULD BE AN INPUT SYSTEM. CONTROL, SENSORS, AND INDICATION SYSTEMS HAVE SEPARATE ELECTRICAL PATHS EVEN IF MANAGED BY THE SAME COMPUTER. SO THEIR "DIAGNOSIS" SEEMS HIGHLY UNLIKELY.
THIS IS AN ACCORD HYBRID PROBLEM! IN COLD WEATHER THE VEHICLE ROARS SO LOUDLY YOU CAN'T HOLD A CONVERSATION OR DRIVE SAFELY - IT SOUNDS LIKE A DIESEL TRUCK IS TRYING TO PASS YOU. THEN IT SUDDENLY STOPS! A FEW MINUTES LATER IT WILL DO IT AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 25 AND 55 - SURFACE MAKE NO DIFFERENCE, BUT MUCH GREATER WHEN TEMPERATURE IS BELOW 40 DEGREES. I PUT 2500 MILES ON MY FIRST ACCORD (2018) BEFORE REPLACING IT, NOW THE NEW ONE (2019) IS DOING THE SAME THING! I AM NOT ALONE, THE ACCORD GROUPS ARE FULL OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF THIS AND NOTHING BEING DONE FOR TWO YEARS+. DEALER HAS TOLD ME FOR THE PAST YEARS+ THAT HONDA IS "INVESTIGATING". MILEAGE ALSO SEEMS TO DROP IN 1/2 WHEN THIS CONDITION EXISTS. LETTING OFF THE GAS STOPS THE SOUND IMMEDIATELY, BUT THEN IT WILL START UP AGAIN WHEN UNDER LOAD. ONLY OCCURS IN COLD WEATHER AT SPEED, NEVER WHEN IDLING IN COLD WEATHER. I HAVE TRIED MANY TIMES TO RECORD SOUND BUT NOTHING WORKS. BTW: IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THE MILEAGE CLAIMED ON THIS VEHICLE. I HAD A HYBRID LINCOLN AND ALWAYS GOT BETTER THAN ADVERTISED MILEAGE.
THE CAR INCREASED SPEED ON ITS OWN WHEN TURNING AND MOVING INTO A PARKING SPOT ALONG THE CURB AT THE AIRPORT.
11/24/19 - CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING - VEHICLE BECOME NON-RESPONSIVE WITH REGARD TO ENGINE, WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND STOPPED DRIVING ALTOGETHER. 1ST CODE SHOWN - POWER SYSTEM PROBLEM DO NOT DRIVE. 2ND CODE SHOWN - 12 VOLT BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM PROBLEM. DO NOT DRIVE. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. RETURNED TO SERVICE 11/26/19. 12/5/19 - CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING - VEHICLE BECOME NON-RESPONSIVE WITH REGARD TO ENGINE, WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND STOPPED DRIVING ALTOGETHER. CODE SHOWN - POWER SYSTEM PROBLEM DO NOT DRIVE. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. RETURNED TO SERVICE 12/13/19. 12/15/2019 - CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING - VEHICLE BECOME NON-RESPONSIVE WITH REGARD TO ENGINE, WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND STOPPED DRIVING ALTOGETHER. 1ST CODE SHOWN - CRITICAL FAILURE DETECTED. STOP DRIVING WHEN SAFE. 2ND CODE SHOWN - POWER SYSTEM PROBLEM DO NOT DRIVE. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS.
HIGH PITCHED NOISE PRESENT SO LONG AS ANY POWER IS DRAWN ANYWHERE IN THE VEHICLE. THE NOISE IS A CONSTANT 15KHZ NOISE WITH SPORADIC NOISES OCCUPYING THE 15-20KHZ RANGE. NOTICED IN THE DAYS AFTER BUYING THE BRAND NEW CAR. TAKEN IN TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES, HONDA FLOWN OUT ENGINEERS TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THEY SAID IT'S AN ISSUE BUT IT IS PRESENT IN ALL MODEL YEAR HYBRIDS, SO THEY DO NOT INTEND TO FIX. MOST PEOPLE LOSE THE ABILITY TO HEAR SOUND IN THIS RANGE BY AGE 40. UNFORTUNATELY OF YOU CAN HEAR THIS NOISE IT IS VERY LOUD AND SO HIGH PITCHED THAT I NOW REQUIRE HEARING PROTECTION IN MY LEFT EAR TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. HONDA CLAIMS IT IS NOT AN ISSUE BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE CAN NOT HEAR IT. I HAVE READ STUDIES OUT OF AM AUSTRALIAN UNIVERSITY NOTING THAT EVEN SOUNDS OUTSIDE OUR RANGE OF HEARING CAN CAUSE SIGNIFICANT HEALTH ISSUES (MIGRAINES, HEARING LOSS, NAUSEA ETC.) THEY ARE REFUSING TO RESPOND TO ME IN ANY CAPACITY. I NOW HAVE TO SET UPON THE TASK OF TRADING IN MY CAR WITH LESS THAN 1000 MILES ON IT JUST SO I CAN DRIVE WITH MY EARS UNPLUGGED. I AM TOLD TO EXPECT A LOSS OF AT LEAST $10,000 ON MY TRADE. I HAVE ATTACHED TWO PHOTOS OF A SOUND ANALYSER APP I USED TO CATEGORIZE THE NOISE. FIRST PICTURE SHOWS A CONSTANT BOLD LINE AT 15KHZ RIGHT AS I TURNED MY CAR ON. THE SECOND SHOWS SOME ~20KHZ "CHIRPS" I NOTICED WHILE DRIVING. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE. WHEN DRIVING AT 53 MPH A LOUD HUMMING SOUND EMANATES IN THE INTERIOR OF MY CAR. THIS HAS REPEATED ITSELF MULTIPLE TIMES WARM AND COOL WEATHER AT SAME SPEED. THIS WAS A NEW PURCHASE.
I WAS DRIVING AND ENTERING THE FREEWAY WHEN MY CAR MADE A LOUD EXPLODING POP. THERE WERE NO CARS NEXT TO ME AS I WAS ENTERING THE ON-RAMP. THERE WERE NO OVERHEAD BRIDGES OR TREES. NOTHING FELL FROM THE SKY. I STOPPED THE CAR AND FOUND THE SUNROOF SHATTERED WITH A LARGE HOLE. THERE WAS NO DEBRIS INSIDE OTHER THAN GLASS. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THE SUNROOF THAT CAUSED IT TO SHATTER. IT SHOULD NOT HAVE SHATTERED THIS MUCH WITH JUST NORMAL USE. THIS OCCURRED ABOUT 5 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING MY INDOOR GARAGE SO THE CAR/SUNROOF WAS NOT OVERHEATED. IF THE INNER COVER WAS OPEN AT THE TIME, THE GLASS WOULD HAVE SHATTERED INTO THE CAR AND CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THIS SAME THING HAPPENING AND THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH THE MANUFACTURERS BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED.
THE MAJOR PROBLEM IS THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WILL NOT ACTIVATE WHEN SOMEBODY BETWEEN 65 POUNDS AND 89 POUNDS SET IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. HONDA OWNER'S MANUAL ON PAGE 63 STATES THAT THE AIR BAG IS ACTIVATED AT 65 POUNDS. IN THE YEAR THAT WE HAVE HAD THIS CAR, WITH MY WIFE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THE AIR BAG HAS NEVER BEEN ACTIVE. THE SEAT BELL WARRING WILL SAY PUT ON SEAT BELT, BUT THE AIR BAG WILL NEVER ACTIVATE WHILE DRIVING. SEE ATTACHED EMAIL TO NHTSA AND HONDA IN FEBRUARY, APRIL AND MAY. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST YEAR, BUT IT STARTED IN JUNE 2019 AND IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. ATTACHED ALSO IS THE SERVICE REPORT FROM CHAPMAN HONDA THAT WOULD DO NOTHING ABOUT THE VARIOUS PROBLEMS.*DT CONSUMER STATED HE IS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE SUN ROOF, WOULD NOT CLOSE ON A RAINY DAY.*JB
INCIDENT #1: 04/29/2019, 562 MILES ON ODOMETER. VEHICLE WAS BACKED UP INTO THE PARKING SPOT AND STOPPED THE VEHICLE SHOWED YELLOW "BRAKE SYSTEM" DASH LIGHT AND 2 WARNING MESSAGES ONE WAS GENERIC BRAKE SYSTEM PROBLEM. SECOND WAS ELABORATING THAT BRAKE FLUID MAY BE LOW AND INSTRUCTING TO CHECK IF BRAKES OPERATE NORMALLY. I CHECKED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT HAD NOTICEABLE LESS RESISTANCE. AFTER A MINUTE THE CONDITION CLEANED ITSELF, THE ERROR MESSAGES DISAPPEARED, THE BRAKE PEDAL FEEL RETURNED TO NORMAL. I DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO DOCUMENT THE PROBLEM. I CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL AND IT WAS NORMAL, THEN IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. TECHNICIAN FOUND NO STORED ERROR CODES, PERFORMED. SYSTEM RESET. HONDA RECOMMENDATION WAS TO KEEP DRIVING THE VEHICLE. INCIDENT #2: 07/17/2019, 3268 MILES ON ODOMETER. AFTER A COMMUTE PARKING CAR, THE VEHICLE SHOWED YELLOW "BRAKE SYSTEM" DASH LIGHT AND 2 WARNINGS. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, SHARED PHOTOS. THEY FOUND NOTHING AND RAISED IT TO HONDA CORPORATE, WHO HAD NO SOLUTION EITHER. HONDA RECOMMENDED DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL NEW INCIDENT OCCURS AT THIS POINT, I ASKED FOR VEHICLE TO BE REPLACED UNDER VIRGINIA LEMON LAW, WHICH QUALIFIES SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT AFTER THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, BUT WAS DENIED BY HONDA. NCDS ARBITER SIDED WITH HONDA. SINCE HONDA INTRODUCE NO REPAIRS, THE PROBLEM IS STILL HIDDEN IN THE CAR, IT IS A TICKING BOMB. *JS
