ENGINE CRACK
CONSUMER NOTICED THE ABS LIGHT ILLUMINTATED, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP WHICH STATED THAT SINCE THE ABS SYSTEM WAS NEVER USED, IT HAD UNRELEASED PRESSURE AND BUILD UP AND THE ABS SYSTEM DESTROYED ITSELF, THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT THIS A SAFETY DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER. *SLC
BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. *AK ABS FAILED AND WAS REPLACED. *SLC
A FAULTY FUEL SENDING UNIT, UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROPER AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE FUEL TANK. DEALER /MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED AT THIS TIME. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION ON THIS MATTER.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING NOTICED ABS INDICATOR LIGHT ON. THE DEALER REPLACED MODULATOR AND ACCUMULATOR. TWO DAYS LATER THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CONTROLLER AS A POSSIBLE CAUSE. *YH
ENGINE OIL SEEPAGE FROM FRONT OF ENGINE BLOCK, COST ME $1400 FOR LABOR, HONDA TOOK CARE OF ENGINE COST. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE HONDA CONDUCTED A CAMPAIGN FOR ENGINE OIL LEAKAGE. HONDA SAID, THAT WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR WASN'T CORRELATED TO THE CAMPAIGN. EVERY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE I TOOK MY CAR TO A CERTIFIED HONDA CENTER PLUS THE CAR HAVEN'T DRIVING A LOT IN 2000 SINCE I'M IN THE MILITARY AND DEPLOYED TO KOREA FOR A YEAR WITHOUT MY CAR, MY WIFE WAS ONLY DRIVING THE CAR ON BASE AND SHORT ERRANDS OFF-BASE. I WANT FOR HONDA TO ADMIT THAT WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR WAS A MAJOR SAFETY MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND REIMBURSE ME FOR WHAT I PAID ($1400) TO GET ENGINE REPLACED.*AK
SRS LIGHT ON. DEALER PERFORMED COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC TEST. CODE 08-1. INTERMITTENT CONTROL UNIT FAILURE. CONTROL UNIT NEEDS REPLACEMENT. $695.00 PLUS TAX. *AK
ABS BRAKE SYSTEM FAILLED, HOWEVER, HAVE RELIED ON STANDARD BRAKE SYSTEM. COST OF REPAIR OVER $1,200.00. *AK
DASH LIGHT COMES ON PANEL FOR AIRBAGS BLINKING. CONSUMER HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR A LONG TIME. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK *SLC
THE SRS LIGHT CAME ON WHEN MY WIFE WAS ON A TRIP FAR FROM HOME. WHEN SHE RETURNED, I TOOK THE CAR TO MILTON MARTIN HONDA. THEY PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER, BUT COULD FIND NO FAULT CODE. THEY RESET THE SRS LIGHT, BUT IT CAME ON AGAIN THE NEXT DAY. THEY HAD SAID THAT WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THEY OFTEN HAD TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG COMPUTER. I CHECKED THE NHTSA WEB SITE AND FOUND THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL FOR 1995 HONDA ACCORDS FOR AIR BAG PROBLEMS (NHTSA ITEM NUMBER SB041021). I ALSO FOUND A HONDA TSB ON THE PROBLEM (SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER HON/A90). FINALLY I FOUND A LARGE NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS IN THE NHTSA DATABASE BY OTHER OWNERS OF 1995 HONDA ACCORDS. CONSEQUENTLY I CALLED HONDA OF AMERICA AT 1-800-999-1099 AND SPOKE TO NICOLE ROYER AT EXT. 124157. SHE PROMISED TO CALL ME BACK WITHIN 3 DAYS WITH FEEDBACK ABOUT WHAT HONDA PROPOSED TO DO ABOUT MY PROBLEM. SHE HAS THUS FAR FAILED TO CALL BACK 6 DAYS LATER, AND ALL I CAN REACH IS HER VOICE MAIL WHEN I ATTEMPT TO CALL HER. IT IS CLEAR FROM THE RECALL, THE TSB, AND THE LARGE VOLUME OF COMPLAINTS THAT HONDA HAS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE AIR BAGS IN THE 1995 ACCORD WHICH THEY SEEM UNWILLING TO DEAL WITH DESPITE THE FACT THAT THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY-RELATED COMPONENT. I HOPE THAT NHTSA INSTITUTES AN INVESTIGATION AND COMPELS HONDA EITHER TO RECALL THE 1995 ACCORDS FOR THIS PROBLEM OR AT LEAST PAY FOR REPAIRS WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS. I OWN 3 HONDAS WHICH I BOUGHT BECAUSE OF HONDA'S OUTSTANDING REPUTATION FOR RELIABILITY AND HONESTY, BUT I AM BITTERLY DISAPPOINTED AT THEIR APPARENT LACK OF CONCERN ABOUT THIS POTENTIALLY VERY DAMAGING PROBLEM. I WOULD REMIND THEM AND NHTSA OF THE FORD/FIRESTONE CASE IN WHICH A KNOWN SAFETY PROBLEM WENT UNACKNOWLEDGED UNTIL A NUMBER OF ACCIDENTS WITH INJURIES AND FATALITIES OCCURRED. SURELY HONDA WOULD NOT WISH TO EXPERIENCE SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS.
WHILE TRAVELING AT40 MPH CONSUMER HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY, DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES. *AK
SHE WAS TRAVELING ALONG AND SRS LIGHT CAME ON DASHBOARD. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND MECHANIC SAID THAT THEY WOULD RECODE THE SRS LIGHT. THEN, THEY TOLD HER THAT SHE HAD TO GET AIRBAG SYSTEM REPLACED. *AK
WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT WITH AIR CONDITIONER ON AND OUTSIDE AIR CHOSEN A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE. REPORTED TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT A CARBON FILTER WAS NOT ABLE TO DO ITS JOB BECAUSE OF THE HOT WEATHER. DEALER REPORTED SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM. NO SUGGESTION OF REMEDY.
AIR BAG SENSOR REPLACED UNDER RECALL IN 1996 COMPONENT FAILURE AGAIN

AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY. TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER 8 TIMES AND UNABLE TO REMEDY PROBLEM. THERE WAS A RECALL 96V217000 CONCERNING AIR BAGS, BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT AFFECTED DUE TO VIN. *AK CONSUMER STATES IN 3/01/02 HIS WIFE AND DAUGHTER HAD AN ACCIDENT WITH FRONT IMPACT AT 20-30 MPH WITH NO DEPLOYMENT OF EITHER AIR BAG, THERE WERE 2 INJURIES. *YH

TOOK TO HONDA DEALER; CONFIRMED THAT ABS MODULATOR ASSEMBLY NEEDS REPLACEMENT; QUOTED $1313. AMERICAN HONDA WON'T HELP BECAUSE WE ARE THIRD OWNER, CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, AND THEY DON'T CONSIDER THE LOSS OF THE ABS SYSTEM A SAFETY THREAT BECAUSE THE ANALOGUE BREAKS WILL STILL STOP THE CAR.*AK
WHEN I TURNED ON THE IGNITION THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO HONDA AND THEY SAID THE COMPUTER COMPONENT IN THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE. IT WOULD COST $600 TO $800 DOLLARS TO REPAIR/REPLACE. I CONTACTED HONDA THREE TIMES AND THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM SAYING THAT ALL PARTS ON THE CAR WEAR OUT AND HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IS MY RESPONNSIBILITY. I ARGUED THAT SOMETHING LIKE A SAFETY DEVICE IN STANDBY CONDITION COULLD NOT WEAR OUT SINCE IT WAS NEVER USED. THEY PERSIST IN SAYING ALL PARTS OF A CAR WEAR OUT AND HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I NEED HELP. WATER COULD LEAK FROM THE A/C TO THE BRAKES AND GAS PEDAL. DEALER REPAIRED IT BEFORE. *AK *ML
RADIATOR RETURN HOSE NECK DISINTEGRATING, PIECES INSIDE RADIATOR. HOSE LIKELY TO SEPERATE FROM RADIATOR AND SPEW HOT . *AK
UNEXPECTED AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT
SRS INDICATOR ON AT 65000, BUT UNIT WAS RESET WHICH CLEARED THE PROBLEM. SRS INDICATOR BACK ON AT 134K. DELEAR THINKS THAT BAD ALTERNATOR MAY BE MASKING THE PROBLEM. ALTERNATOR BEING REPLACED (500 DOLLARS). IF THE SRS UNIT CANNOT BE RESET THEN THIS WILL BE ANOTHER 500 DOLLARS PLUS LABOR. THERE IS A RECALL NOTICE OUT BUT IT SEEMS TO BE FOR THE 4 CYL ACCORDS ONLY. LOGGING THIS ENTRY MAINLY TO GET THE WORD OUT. POSSIBLY IF ENOUGH OF US REPORT THIS AS AN ISSUE WE MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET SOME RELIEF FROM HONDA (YA RIGHT).
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 55MPH ON HIGHWAY AND VEHICLE STARTED VIBRATING. AND IT WAS HARD TO STEER. SHE TOOK VEHICLE TO A TIRE PLACE, AND THREE OUT FOUR TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF TREAD HAD SEPARTION. TIRES WERE B.F. GOODRICH, EXCENTIA, 185-70 R14. *AK

ABS LIGHT CAME ON. I BROUGHT CAR TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A BULLETIN OUT TO RESEAL AND RETIGHTEN THE ABS MODULATOR. ABS LIGHT WAS BACK ON WITHIN 4 MONTHS. WENT BACK TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $1400 TO FIX PROBLEM OR IGNORE IT BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD OPERATE PERFECTLY FINE WITHOUT ABS FUNCTION. LATELY THE ABS LIGHT IS COMING ON SOONER AND MORE OFTEN AND I AM HAVING TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL TO KEEP IT FROM GOING TO THE FLOOR. I AM GOING TO THE DEALER TODAY, BUT I AM EXPECTING THE USUAL RUN AROUND.*AK
WHEN DRIVING CONSUMER APPLIES BRAKES, AND PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR, AND IT IS SOFT. BRAKES ARE NOT OPERABLE ENOUGH TO HOLD IN PLACE. *AK
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, WHO FOUND AIRBAG MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED. *AK *SLC
CONSUMER HEARD FAN NOISE. THEN ABS LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM THAT WAS OUT. A PRIVATE MECHANIC SAID HAS SEEN A LOT OF THESE CASES. *AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN DEALER'S SHOP FOR ROUTINE SERVICE DEALER NOTICED A CRACK IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MANUFACTURER'S RECALL. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
NOISE AT STARTUP, ABS LIGHT COMES ON, DEALER REPLACED O-RING AND SEAL ($200), NOISE AND ENGINE CHECK LIGHT STILL COME ON, NOW DEALER SAYS $500-700 TO REPLACE UNIT

ABS LIGHT KEPT COMING ON. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALER ON SIX OCCASIONS, AND VARIOUS REPAIRS MADE /PARTS REPLACED. BUT, PROBLEM STILL REOCCURRING. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
WHILE PUTTING CAR INTO DRIVE CONSUMER TAPPED ACCELERATER AND CAR TOOK OFF AT ABOUT 40 MPH. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP VEHICLE WAS TO HIT ANOTHER CAR. ALSO, AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, AND CAR WAS FULL OF SMOKE INSIDE. CAR HAS BEEN TOWED TO A HONDA DEALER. *AK *ML THE CONSUMER HAD A SECOND ACCIDENT UNDER INDENTICAL CIRCUMSTANCES. THE MANUFACTURER INVESTIGATED THE FIRST ACCIDENT BUT DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONSUMER HAD CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AGAIN AND IS WAITING FOR RESPONSE. *YH
