A BANGING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AND A VIBRATION ARE EXPERIENCED EVERY TIME WHEN I START THE ENGINE. THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT, SINCE THE DEALER LET ME TEST DROVE SEVERAL NEW HONDA CARS IN STOCK AND EVERY 1999 AND 2000 YEAR NEW HONDA ACCORD LX HAS THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE NOISE AND VIBRATION LOOSE SCREWS AND CONNECTIONS FOR THE LONG RUN. SOME OF THOUSANDS OF SCREWS AND CONNECTIONS IN A CAR MAY DROP OUT SOME DAY AND CAUSE ACCIDENT.
WHEN DRIVING ON WET OR DRY PAVEMENTAND UPON DEPRESSING BRAKE PEDAL TO MAKE A GRAUDAL STOP, PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD, CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER, DEALER HAS REPLACED BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. PROBLEM STILL OCCURRING. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK

ENGINE HESTITATES/LURCHES FORWARD AT ANY SPEED WHEN USING REGULAR UNLEADED GASOLINE. PROBLEM LESS FREQUENT WHEN USING PREMIUM GAS, BUT IS CAUSING CARBON BUILDUP ON THROTTLE BODY OVER TIME, WHICH LEADS TO THE ACCELERATOR STICKING. LOCAL DEALER STATED THEY HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. DEALER SUGGESTED LOWER GRADE GASOLINE TO PREVENT CARBON BUILDUP. DEALER OFFERED NO EXPLAINATION WHY ENGINE IS HESITATING.*AK
MY BREAKS HAVE NOT FAILED, BUT SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE CAR THEY HAVE MADE A TERRIBLE SQUEALING NOISE. I HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES TO THE DEALER AND HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT TWICE. I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE OF THE NEW MATERIALS USED TO MAKE BREAKS CAUSES THIS NOISE. I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THAT ANSWER SINCE VERY FEW IF ANY OF THE OTHER NEW CARS I SEE AND HEAR ON THE ROAD ARE MAKING THE SAME NOISE. HAS THIS PROBLEM BEEN REPORTED BY OTHER HONDA OWNERS? IS IT IN FACT DUE TO THE MATERIALS USED TO CONSTRUCT THE BREAK PADS? IT IS REALLY FRUSTRATING TO HAVE A NEW CAR AND HAVE IT SOUND LIKE THE BREAKS NEED REPLACING.
DRIVER'S FRONT AND REAR AND PASSENGER'S REAR TIRE HAD BLOWOUTS. THEY WERE MANUFACTURED BY MICHELIN. ANGLE OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE WINDSHIELD CAUSES A GLARE FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS WHICH RESULTS IN VISUAL DIFFICULTY, AND MAY CAUSE A CRASH. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK

I HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED AT STOP LIGHTS FIVE TIMES IN THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN AT A COMPLETE STOP FOR EACH ONE OF THESE. IN SEARCHING FOR A REASON FOR THIS I HAVE REALIZED THAT THE 1999 HONDA ACCORDS HAVE DIM BRAKE LIGHTS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO PROCEED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. I PULLED MY ACCORD UP TO THE FRONT DOOR OF A SUBWAY SHOP. I SET THE BRAKE, REMOVED KEYS AND PUT MY CELLULAR PHONE IN MY TRUNK. NO MOVEMENT OF CAR TOOK PLACE. I WENT IN THE SHOP TO ORDER MY SANDWICH. KEY CAN BE REMOVED FROM IGNITION WHEN VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE WHICH CAUSED A COLLISION. *AK CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE ENGINE WAS OFF AND THE STEERING WAS LOCKED, CONSUMERS WIFE EXITED THE VEHICLE WITH THE KEYS, AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, VEHICLE THEN SMASHED INTO A WHEEL BARREL, TREE AND A TOOL SHED, THE DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH.*JB
FOR NO APPARENT REASON MY CAR STOPS WHILE DRIVING. THIS ENGINE SHUTS DOWN FORCING ME TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY STOP WHETHER I AM DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY OR SURFACE STREETS. THIS HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY AND REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED AT WHICH I AM DRIVING. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE AUTO REPARI SHOP EACH TIME IT HAS OCCURRED OVER THE LAST 2 WEEKS, FOR A TOTAL OF 7 TIMES. EACH TIME THE CAR IS PROBED AND DIAGNOSTIC TESTING IS CONDUCTED BUT STILL THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE IDENTIFIED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE MECHANICS THAT THE COMPUTER IN MY CAR FAILS TO PROVIDE A CODE WHICH COULD THEN BE USED TO TRACE THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM.
