I HAD THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED IN 2002 UNDER THE RECALL WARRANTY. NOW 7YEARS LATER(2009)120,000MILES, I AM HAVING THE SYMPTOMS OF A BAD IGNITION SWITCH. WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE JUST QUITS. IT WILL START AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. IT WILL RUN FINE FOR ABOUT 3-4 WEEKS AND QUIT AGAIN. I TALKED WITH A HONDA REPAIR MAN AND HE SAID THE WARRANTY REPLACEMENT SWITCHES IN 2002 ARE STARTING TO FAIL NOW. *TR

THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUTS DOWN AND THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 02V120000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH). THE CONTACT WILL CALL THE MANUFACTURER TO INQUIRE IF THE VEHICLE CAN BE REPAIRED FOR FREE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED FIVE MINUTES LATER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 02V120000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH); THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY $700 FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED, BUT THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN 1-2 AND 2-3 GEARS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON REPORTING "PO740 - TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH CIRCUIT ERROR". *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 03V423000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH). SEVERAL YEARS AFTER THE REPAIR, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THE RECALL, THEY WOULD NOT ASSUME ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, TIMING BELT, EXHAUST, AND OTHER COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED IN HOPES THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE CORRECTED. THE REPAIRS WERE MADE AT MORE THAN $3,000 BY AN AUTHORIZED HONDA DEALER. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOUND THAT THE IGNITION KEY SWITCH WAS CAUSING THE STALLING. IF THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION AND SLIGHTLY TOUCHED, THE IGNITION WOULD STALL. THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 160,000.
IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE ON 1999 HONDA ACCORD. NOT ONE OF THE VIN NUMBERS I WAS TOLD THAT WAS INVOLVED IN THE RECALL. HAD TO REPAIR ON MY OWN. THE CAR STOPS RUNNING INTERMITTENTLY WITH NO POWER AT ALL AND THEN RESTARTS. *TR
IN 2002 - 2004 MY 1999 HONDA, ACCORD HAD A RECALL TO REPLACE IGNITION SWITCH, VEHICLE COULD STALL IN TRAFFIC CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I HAD THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED BY HONDA IN 2004. DECEMBER 2008, MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD JUST SHUTS OFF, AFTER A FEW MINUTES RESTARTS. THE VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF STARTS TO GET MORE FREQUENT, SO I TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC, WHO REPLACES THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE FIXED FOR NOW. APPARENTLY HONDA DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM WITH THE FIRST RECALL. *TR
MY 99 HONDA ACCORD EX SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING, THIS STARTED ALMOST TWO YEARS AGO. THE CAR PROVIDES ZERO NOTICE. I RECENTLY ATTENDED A AUTO PARTS SHOP FOR TESTING AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST. I WAS DIRECTED TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP. I RESEARCHED THE MATTER ONLINE AND DETERMINED MY CAR WAS ON RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I BRIEFLY REMEMBER RECEIVING A RECALL NOTIFICATION BY MAIL SEVERAL YEARS AGO BUT DID NOTHING. I CALLED BREAKAWAY HONDA IN GREENVILLE SC AND WAS DENIED RECALL BASED ON MY VIN. WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AT ANY SPEED MY CAR MAY STALL WITHOUT WARNING. SOMETIMES IT OCCURS DURING A TURN, OTHER TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT 30-45 MPH. IT THEN WILL TAKE A COUPLE OF ATTEMPTS TO RESTART. THIS HAS OCCURRED 5 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. *TR

THERE WAS A RECALL NHTSA#02V120000; COMPONENT: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: IGNITION: SWITCH BUT THE DEALER INFORMED HIM HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE COST FOR THE REPAIRS WOULD BE $600. MY 1999 HONDA ACCORD LX BLEW OUT AN ENGINE VALVE WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING 60 MPH. HONDA SERVICE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FAILURE OF THE ENGINE. AT THE TIME THE CAR HAD ONLY 110K MILES. APPARENTLY, IT IS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE VALVE DESIGN. *TR
1999 HONDA ACCORD ENGINE STALLS UNEXPECTEDLY. IGNITION PART WAS RECALLED BY HONDA IN 2003 AND WAS REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. PROBLEM STARTED FEW MONTHS BACK AND IT IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY NOW. HONDA REGIONAL OFFICE REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND BEFORE THE CONTACT COULD TURN OFF THE VEHICLE, IT SHUT ITSELF OFF. LATER, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SERVICE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN 2002 FOR THE ELECTRICAL IGNITION SWITCH, WHICH COULD DEGRADE AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO HESITATE AND/OR CRASH WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT BECAUSE THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ONCE, THEY WOULD NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIRS A SECOND TIME. THE VIN AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 109,000.

THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED IN FEBRUARY OF 2003 ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 02V120000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH). THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE ONLY REQUIRED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE ONCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE IS 77,745. UPDATED 11/6/08 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE SWITCH. UPDATED 11/10/08. *JB
WE HAVE A BLACK 1999 HONDA ACCORD THAT HAS A SEVERE PAINT/CLEAR COAT ISSUE. WE HAVE TAKEN GREAT CARE OF THIS VEHICLE, KEEPING IT GARAGED AND WASHED AND WAXED ON A REGULAR BASIS. WE CONTACTED HONDA REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND THEY TOLD US THAT "IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY AS THE OWNERS TO TAKE CARE OF OUR CAR". THEY ALSO TOLD US THAT BECAUSE OF THE AGE OF THE CAR, PAINT ISSUES 'HAPPEN' AND THEY DON'T OFFER SERVICE ON THAT OLD OF A CAR. THAT IS RIDICULOUS. WE JUST HAD IT IN TO FIX THE IGNITION THAT WAS UNDER A RECALL, AND THEY TELL US THAT THEY DON'T OFFER SERVICE ON THAT OLD OF A CAR? MY WIFE AND I ARE EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED AT HOW WE HAVE BEEN TREATED OVER THIS. THE CAR HAS A DEFECT IN THE CLEAR COAT FINISH THAT WAS BACKED UP BY OUR LOCAL SERVICE TECH WHO SAID IT WASN'T SPRAYED ON THICK ENOUGH, THUS THE PROBLEM. *TR

AFTER MY SECOND HONDA IGNITION SWITCH HAD BEEN REPLACED AFTER ALMOST GETTING ME KILLED BY CUTTING OUT WHILE I WAS GOING 80 (IN A 75), THE REPLACEMENT WHICH HAS BEEN IN MY CAR FOR ABOUT 5 WEEKS AND INSTALLED BY HONDA OF FLAGSTAFF AZ, WITH AROUND 1000 MILES ON IT IS NOW EXHIBITING THE SAME PRE-FAILURE SYMPTOMS EXHIBITED BY THE SWITCH IT HAD REPLACED. FAILURE TO START AFTER BEING LEFT IN DIRECT SUN FOR PROLONGED PERIOD. IT THEN WILL STALL IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING, THEN REFUSE TO TURN OVER AT ALL. ADDITIONALLY, AND HERE IS THE SAFETY COMPLAINT, THE CAR WILL LOSE ITS ELECTRICS AND THEM SPONTANEOUSLY TURN BACK ON WHILE THE CAR IS BEING OPERATED. THE INCIDENT ON AUGUST 9TH OCCURRED ON CITY STREETS IN ESCONDIDO CA AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 15 AND 35 MPH. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED HONDA CENTER AND THEY STATED THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONTACTS IN THE IGNITION SWITCH WERE WORN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
CAR HAS INTERMITTENT STALLING ISSUES WHILE DRIVING. CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED IN LEESBURG HONDA, ONLY KNOWN THRU CARFAX REPORT. LEESBURG HONDA COULD NOT VERIFY IF IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPAIRED FROM RECALL STATUS. VERIFICATION CAME FROM CHARLOTTESVILLE BROWN'S HONDA THAT SWITCH WAS REPLACED BUT NOT BY WHO. TOLD IF KEY WAS SHOOK WHILE RUNNING AND CAR STALLED THEN IT WAS IGNITION SWITCH. CAR STILL PERSISTS INTERMITTENTLY IN SHUTTING OFF WITH NO WARNING SIGNS. SOMETIMES, AFTER STALL, IT TAKES SEVERAL TURNS OF KEY TO FINALLY GET CAR STARTED. STALLING CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME AND HAS IN FAST LANES OF HIGHWAYS MAKING CAR A LITTLE HARD TO STEER OF THE ROAD. ONLY HAZARD LIGHTS WORK TO SEND WARNING SIGN OF CAR TROUBLE. *TR
MAIN RELAY PROBLEMS I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 99 HONDA ACCORD LE COUPE - 6 CYLINDER AUTOMATIC. ONCE I GOT THE CAR HOME I FOUND THAT THE CAR HAD A STARTING PROBLEM. EARLY MORNING WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS COOL THE CAR WOULD START FINE. AFTER SITTING IN THE SUN ALL DAY WHILE AT WORK THE CAR WOULD FAIL TO START. OPENING THE DOORS AND LETTING THE INTERIOR HEAT DROP WOULD ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO START. WITH NO SATISFACTION FROM THE DEALER OTHER THAN LOOKING AT ME LIKE I WAS CRAZY I SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR HONDA HARD STARTING PROBLEM... I FOUND A WEBSITE THAT GAVE THE SAME PROBLEM THAT I WAS HAVING AND DIRECTED TO HOW TO REPAIR THE MAIN RELAY. I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS AS THEY EXPLAINED AND RE-SOLDERED 5 CONNECTIONS ON THE PRINTED CIRCUIT OF THE MAIN RELAY... SINCE THAT TIME THE HONDA WILL START IN ANY TYPE OF WEATHER. JUST SEEMS ODD AFTER SEARCHING THE FORUMS AND THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT I WAS HAVING AND NOBODY HAS SEEMED TO KNOW WHAT IT WAS... SOME SEARCHING TURNED UP A PROBLEM RESOLVE... NOW YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT IM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THE PROBLEM AND HONDA SERVICE CENTERS TELL ME THAT THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A PROBLEM LIKE MINE.... DON'T GET ME WRONG I LOVE THE ACCORD AND CAN LIVE WITH SOME OF THE PROBLEMS BUT AS A CUSTOMER I EXPECT THAT HONDA WOULD AT LEAST ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM AND BY THE DESCRIPTION THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO TELL ME WHAT THEY THINK IT IS AND HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE....I'M NOT CHASING A RECALL... IGNITIONS SWITCH WAS REPLACED DUE TO CAR RANDOMLY STALLING ON AT LEAST 6 OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING RESULTING IN NEAR COLLISIONS DUE TO LOSS OF POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES AND THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE IN ORDER TO SAFELY REMOVE VEHICLE FROM THE ROADWAY. HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE INFORMED ME THAT THE IGNITIONS SWITCH HAD BEEN RECALLED HOWEVER THE IGNITIONS SWITCH HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN REPLACED ON MY VEHICLE SEVERAL YEARS AGO UNDER THIS RECALL AND ANY REPAIR WOULD BE AT MY OWN EXPENSE. REPAIR INVOICE IS AVAILABLE AS CAN VERIFICATION OF THE PROBLEM BY THE REPAIR SHOP WHO EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM WHILE TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I FEEL THIS REPEATED PROBLEM ILLUSTRATES FAILURE ON HONDA TO RESOLVE THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM ASSOCIATED WITH THE DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCH WHICH PRESENTS AN IMMEDIATE TREAT TO LIFE OF ALL OWNERS OF THE 1999 HONDA ACCORD AND THE PUBLIC AT LARGE AFFECTED BY THE ORIGINAL RECALL AND ANOTHER RECALL SHOULD BE MANDATED BY THE NHTSA. *TR

THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE SEAT DETACHED FROM THE BRACKET. ALL DASH LIGHTS GO OUT ON MY 1999 HONDA ACCORD WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE TURNED ON. A SAFETY RECALL WAS DONE FOR THIS PROBLEM CAUSED BY A DEFECTED MULTIPLEX CONTROL UNIT ON THE HONDA ACCORD YEARS 2000 TO 2004. WHY ARE OLDER ACCORDS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL SINCE THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART WAS INSTALLED ON THEM?*TR
HONDA ACCORD IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE LEADING TO ENGINE CUT OUT ON HIGHWAY (GOING 80), ELECTRICAL SHORT CAUSED SMOKING FROM DASH. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD LOSE POWER. ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS FLASHED ON AND OFF AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE THEN RESTARTED BY ITSELF. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE A WEEK AND HAS NOT BEEN REMEDIED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 149,000.
BELOW ARE BITS OF A LETTER I SENT IN AS PART OF A SURVEY TO THE HONDA DEALER: THE HONDA (H) DEALER IN FTWALTONBEACH, FL REFUSED TO REPLACE THE RECALL PART. I HAVE EMAILS AND NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO HAVE IT REPLACED; ONCE I DISCOVERED THERE WAS A RECALL PART, HONDA STILL WOULDN'T AGREE TO FIX IT. INITIALLY, I THOUGHT THEY COULDN'T FIX MY CAR PROBLEM, SO I BOUGHT A HAYNES MANUAL, SEARCHED THE WEB AND ATTEMPTED TO DIAGNOSE IT MYSELF. THAT IS HOW I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL. I CONTACTED THEM ABOUT MY DISCOVERY, AND THEY TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC (WHICH WAS INDICATED TO ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR) TO DETERMINE IF THE PART TRULY NEEDED REPLACING. THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE THE PART. THEY STATED THE PART HAD BEEN REPLACED ONLY 1/2 WAY THROUGH MY STRUGGLE TO GET THEM TO REPLACE IT. I WAS TOLD BY H CORP. THAT IT HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED. HONDA.COM INDICATED THAT IT NEEDED REPLACING, AND THEN MIRACULOUSLY MID-WAYS THROUGH MY BATTLE WITH GSH IT SHOWS UP IN THE COMPUTER AS HAVING BEEN REPLACED. I HAVE HAD THE CAR SINCE BEFORE THE RECALL. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT IT HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED. I DO WONDER HOW MANY OTHER WOMEN AND UNSUSPECTING MEN THEY HAVE GOUGED IN THE POCKET TO RANDOMLY REPLACE GOOD PARTS ($1000 - $2000 FOR ME). MANAGER AND THE GSH MANAGER, RECEIPTS FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF IN WARRANTY PARTS & RANDOMLY REPLACED NEW PARTS, A COPY OF THE FAX I SENT KAI AND A CONFIRM. GOT A CAR TUNE-UP DONE BY A HONDA DEALERSHIP. THE GEARS SHIFTED A LTTLE DIFFERENT BUT I ATTRIBUTED IT TO THE TUNE-UP. IT PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORST SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED. AFTER THEIR ANALYSIS, THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A "BAD DIFFERENTIAL" AND IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE CAR ONLY HAD 78,000 WHEN IT WAS AT THE DEALER FOR THE TUNE-UP THE END OF MAY. MY 99 HONDA ACCORD EX CUTS OFF WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD WITHOUT WARNING. THIS IS DUE TO IGNITION SENSOR WHICH I CORRECTED SHORTLY AFTER BUYING MY CAR WITH RICK HENDRICK HONDA. IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE, SECOND OCCURRENCE. CAR STALLS DURING NORMAL OPERATION. THE ORIGINAL RECALL REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH AND REPAIRED THE INTERLOCK. THE SWITCH FAILED AGAIN. OBVIOUSLY THIS WAS NOT A FIX ONLY A DELAY OF THE NEXT FAILURE SINCE THE SAME COMPONENT FAILED. I USED DETAILED REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE INTERNET TO MAKE THE SECOND REPAIR MYSELF. I REQUESTED "GOODWILL" FROM AMERICAN HONDA WHICH WAS DENIED SO I AM OUT OF POCKET FOR PARTS AND MY TIME TO REPAIR. I BELIEVE THAT HONDA SHOULD BE ACCOUNTABLE SINCE THE REPLACEMENT PART ALSO FAILS AT THE SAME RATE AS THE ORIGINAL COMPONENT. WHEN THIS FINALLY CAUSES AN ACCIDENT OR DEATH I'M SURE THEY WILL SETTLE OUT OF COURT TO PREVENT FURTHER LOSS ON THIS COMPONENT WHEN ALL THEY REALLY HAD TO DO WAS ENGINEER A NON-DEFECTIVE REPLACEMENT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. BROUGHT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE CODE INDICATED A TORQUE CONVERTER CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION. DEALER SUPPOSEDLY CHECKED AND ROAD TESTED AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY RESET THE WARNING LIGHT AND SAID THE TRANSMISSION MAYBE GOING BAD. I WAS CHARGED THEIR TYPICAL OUTRAGEOUS LABOR COST. I SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT IT TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE WHO COULD HAVE TOLD ME THE SAME THING FOR FREE. BUT I THOUGHT THEY WOULD KNOW MORE ABOUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEIR CARS THAN AN AUTO PARTS CODE READER, I WAS TOTALLY WRONG. THE WARNING LIGHT CAME BACK ON DURING MY DRIVE BACK HOME FROM THE DEALER. ALL THE REQUIRED MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN PERFORMED BY THE DEALER SINCE THE TIME I BOUGHT IT NEW. THE CAR HAD AROUND 98,000 MILES WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT FIRST APPEARED. I BROUGHT IT TO A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP NEXT AND THEY REPLACED THE LINEAR SOLENOID AND CHECKED THE OTHERS WHICH WERE ALL FINE, BUT THE WARNING LIGHT CAME BACK ON. THE TRANS. SHOP SAID THIS IS A PREDOMINANT PROBLEM WITH 99 AND 2000 ACCORDS, BUT THE MFR ONLY RECALLED THE 2000 MODELS. I KNOW THIS IS TRUE BECAUSE I ALSO OWN A 2000 ACCORD WHICH WAS RECALLED BY THE FACTORY FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT HONDA SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THIS MODEL YEAR ALSO SINCE THE 99 AND 2000 MODELS WERE ESSENTIALLY IDENTICAL. NOW THE ONLY RECOURSE IS TO OVERHAUL OR REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION WHICH WILL COST LOTS MORE MONEY. THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD RECALL THE 99 ACCORDS AS WELL OR AT LEAST SHOULDER HALF OF ALL THE EXPENSES BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED IN THE LOCKED POSITION WITH THE DOOR CLOSED.
