WHILE DRIVING THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH BOARD. AS A RESULT THE AIR BAGS WERE INOPERATIVE AND WOULDN'T DEPLOY WHEN NEEDED. DEALER NOTIFIED. *NM
THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE CONSUMERS 2000 HONDA ACCORD. *JB THE SEAT BELT/AIR BAG MECHANISM. HONDA ONLY RESET THE SRS BUTTON, BUT WOULD NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY SPECIFIED BY THE VEHICLE'S HANDBOOK. NO FAULTS WERE FOUND. *SC IT TURNED OUT THAT THE SEAT BELT WAS SENDING FALSE INFORMATION T THE AIR BAG MECHANISM *JB
MY TRANSMISSION ON MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD JUST WENT OUT. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND EVEN THOUGH IT FALLS WITHIN THE PERAMETERS OF THE HONDA EXTENDED WARRANITY, THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT. I THINK THESE FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS SHOULD BE RECALLED. *AK
SRS LIGHT ON. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, PAID ALMOST $455 TO REPLACE OPDS UNIT WHICH IS A COMMON AND WELL KNOWN DEFECT BY HONDA.*AK
I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS MANY OTHER OWNERS ARE WITH THE SRS INDICATOR LIGHT STAYING ON. IT SOUNDS LIKE EVERYONE IS GETTING THEIR ALTERNATORS CHANGED AT THEIR PERSONAL COST, BUT THEN THE LIGHT TURNS BACK ON AFTER A FEW DAYS AND THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED. THIS IS DANGEROUS AS THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY WHILST THE LIGHT IS ON. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.*AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL VEHICLE JERKED AND VIBRATED. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYED ON. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON FOUR OCCASIONS, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK *SC
WHILE DRIVING AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK THE DEALER REPLACED THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG. *NM
2000 HONDA ACCORD 6-CYL - SRS LIGHT HAS COME ON 6 TIMES SINCE NEW. AGAIN LAST WEEK. I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH RUNS OUT 11/04. *LA
I HAVE A 2000 HONDA ACCORD LX SEDAN WITH A LITTLE OVER 75,000 MILES ON IT. SATURDAY MAY 4TH OF THIS YEAR ON MY WAY FROM MESQUITE TO ARLINGTON MY CAR JUST FAILED TO MOVE. ENGINE WAS RUNNING BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T PICK A GEAR TO MOVE ON, LUCKILY A GENTLEMAN BEHIND ME HELPED PUSH THE CAR OFF TO THE SHOULDER. I WAS STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF INTERSTATE 35 AND HAD TO REQUEST AAA COME TOW MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP LUTE RILEY IN RICHARDSON. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED SAT BY THE TIME I GOT THERE SO MONDAY MORNING WHEN I WENT IN I HAD RESEARCHED AND DISCOVERED THIS WAS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE SIXTH GENERATION ACCORDS. BUT I WAS INFORMED AT MIDDAY BY MY SERVICE ADVISOR SHAWN THAT I NEEDED TO PAY TO HAVE MY SOLENOIDS REPLACED SINCE THATS WHAT THE TECHNICIAN REPORTS AS THE PROBLEM SO ME BEING A COLLEGE STUDENT AND HEAVILY RELIANT ON MY TRANSPORTATION ESPECIALLY DURING FINALS WEEK PAID FOR IT. SURE ENOUGH COUPLE OF DAYS LATER SAME ISSUE WHERE THE CAR DIES AGAIN IN MY SCHOOL PARKING LOT AND I HAD IT TOWED ONCE AGAIN BY AAA OVER TO LUTE RILEY. THIS TIME WHEN I WENT IN ON THURSDAY MAY 6TH THEY SANG A DIFFERENT TUNE THAT MY TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED AND THAT IT WAS COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BY HONDA SO THEY WILL REPLACE IT FOR FREE BUT WILL NEED TO KEEP IT FOR A WEEK WHILE THEY ORDER ONE. NOW MY ISSUE IS RETURNING THE $350 PLUS THAT I SPENT ON REPAIRING SOLENOIDS THAT WEREN'T IN NEED OF BEING REPLACED. I WILL BE REPORTING THIS TO HONDA'S CORPORATE HQ LIKE SO MANY OTHER HONDA OWNERS HAVE ALREADY DONE. PLEASE DO WHAT YOU CAN TO HELP SAVE OTHER PEOPLE THIS HEADACHE AND POSSIBLE ENDANGERMENT OF LIFE WHEN A VEHICLE FAILS ON OUR HIGHWAYS! ADDITIONALLY I REQUEST THAT YOU INCLUDE HONDA'S RECALL\EXTENSION OF WARRANTY ON ALL 2000-2001 ACCORDS, ODDESSEYS, AND PRELUDES IN YOUR "SAFETY RECALL" SEARCH ENGINE (THIS IS OPEN INFORMATION ON HONDA'S HOMEPAGE BUT IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE IT AVAILABLE IN AS MANY PLACES POSSIBLE).
WHEN CONSUMER TURNED VEHICLE ON THE SRS LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. CONSUMER READ IN THE MANUAL THAT IF THE SRS LIGHT STAYED ON IT INDICATED A PROBLEM WITH THE SYSTEM AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE. *AK *NM
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH HEADLIGHTS ON THEY WILL CUT OFF WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING, LEAVING CONSUMER WITHOUT A VISION OF THE ROAD. DEALER WAS CONTACTED. *AK
FRONT DISC ROTORS CONTINUE TO RE-WARP AND NEED TURNING, DESPITE CAREFUL DRIVING PRACTICES AND NO SUDDEN STOPS AND NO RIDING OF BRAKES. VIBRATION MAKES VEHICLE HARD TO CONTROL DURING NORMAL STOPS. DEALER DENIES THERE IS ANY PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THIS CAUSED THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK
REPLACEMENT OF LEFT AND RIGHT HUB AND BEARING ON THE REAR OF THE CAR. OF ALL THE CARS I OWNED AND THE CARS THAT FREINDS AND FAMILY HAVE THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT ANYBOBY HAS HEARD OF REPLACING THESE PARTS. ALL OF MY CARS HAVE OVER 180,000 MILES ON THEM.
ON APRIL 9, 2004, I WAS BACKING MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD, 4 DOOR TO A PUMP AT A GAS STATION. THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AT SUCH A VELOCITY WHILE BACKING THAT I RAN INTO TWO OTHER CARS AND STOPPED ONLY WHEN I RAN INTO THE SERVICE STATION BUILDING'S WALL. EVEN THOUGH I APPLIED THE BRAKE THE CAR CONTINUED TO CAREEN OUT OF CONTROL DESPITE MY EFFORTS TO STOP IT. IT IS MOST FORTUNATE NO ONE WAS MAIMED OR KILLED. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. CONSUMER CONTACTED WITH DEALERSHIP. *AK
I CAN REMOVE THE KEY FROM MY 2000 ACCORD WHILE THE GEAR SHIFT IS STILL IN DRIVE. I DID THIS ONCE THINKING I HAD PLACED THE CAR IN PARK, AND AFTER EXITING THE CAR IT BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARD. DESPITE THE FACT THERE WAS A RECALL ON 98 AND 99 ACCORDS FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM, THE FOLKS AT HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLD ME I NEED TO TAKE MY CAR TO A HONDA DEALER AND PAY TO HAVE IT INSPECTED. HOWEVER, THEY DIDN'T PROMISE ME THEY COULD DO ANYTHING FOR ME AFTER THE INSPECTION.*AK
BRAKES - I TOOK MY CAR INTO LIA HONDA IN ALBANY IN APRIL 2004 FOR MY NYS INSPECTION AND 30,000 MILE SERVICE. I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED ROTORS TURNED. I WAS VERY SURPRISED THAT I NEEDED ROTORS TURNED AT 29,000 MILES. PERHAPS THIS IS NORMAL BUT PREVIOUSLY I OWNED A NISSAN AND I DID NOT HAVE TO DO ANY BRAKE WORK UNTIL 50,000 MILES. I WANTED TO REPORT THIS IN CASE THERE WERE ANY OTHER OWNERS OF HONDA ACCORDS WITH THIS PROBLEM. I WONDER IF THEY USE A CHEAPER QUALITY BRAKE PARTS THAN NISSAN. *AK
2000 HONDA ACCORD LX SEDAN, HAS 55000 MILES ON IT, VEHICLE COMPLETELY DEAD @65 MPH ON FREEWAY. THIS IS A WELL MAINTAIN VEHICLE, I CHANGE OIL EVERY 3000 MILES AS RECOMMENDED. *AK
WHILE IN MODERATE TRAFFIC VEHICLE WAS STRUCK FROM THE REAR AND ON DRIVER'S SIDE, CAUSING VEHICLE TO REAR END ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT, AND CRASHING INTO A GUARD RAIL. UPON IMPACT, NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. DRIVER SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION, AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR BRUISES. AN AMBULANCE TRANSPORTED BOTH OF THEM TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL. POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. *AK
EGR VALVE WENT BAD ON THE CAR. INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS HAPPENS TO MANY PEOPLE. ASKED DEALER TO FIX THE PROBLEM AS IT WAS A DEFECT. THEY SAID IT WASN'T. I HAD TO PAY SINCE IT WAS AFFECTING MY FUEL ECONOMY. IT WAS REPLACED BY A NEW, DIFFERENT TYPE OF VALVE. THAT MAKES ME THINK THE ORIGINAL PART WAS BAD.*AK
VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A ROUTINE INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO WORN OUT PARTS. *AK
VEHICLE LUNGED OR ACCELERATED IN PARKING SPACE WITH FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR AND ON BRAKE. VEHICLE JUMPED OVER, AND COLLIDED WITH PET MALL BUILDING WALL. THERE WAS NO POLICE REPORT. *AK
REAR SEAT BELTS IN MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD EX ARE TOO SHORT FOR ADULTS. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET THEM ON WITHOUT ACTIVATING THE AUTOMATIC RETRACTION MECHANISM, WHICH MAKES THEM VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. IT OFTEN TAKES 4-6 ATTEMPTS TO GET THEM ON COMFORTABLY, AND IF YOU LEAN FORWARD WITH THE BELT ON, YOU HAVE TO START OVER.*AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP COMPLETELY. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT THIS TIME. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
WHILE DRIVING THROTTLE STUCK. FULL RANGE OF MOTION IS NOT POSSIBLE. *AK *MR
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE SRS LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE AIR BAG MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WHEN HE REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE IN PARK FOR THIS TO OCCUR. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 99 HONDAS FOR THAT SAME PROBLEM, BUT YET NOT ON HIS VEHICLE. *NM CONSUMER STATED THAT THE KEY CAN BE REMOVED WHEN VEHICLE IS NOT SET IN PARK. *LA
WHEN MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD EX V6 WAS ABOUT 2 YEARS OLD, THE LIGHT DISPLAY ON MY AUDIO TUNER/CD WENT OUT. I THOUGHT SOMEONE JUST NEEDED TO CHANGE THE DISPLAY TO GET THE LIGHT BACK ON, BUT IT TURNED OUT THAT THE WHOLE UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER DID REPLACE IT FREE, BUT NOT UNTIL I PUSHED THEM TO SEE THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS. TODAY, ABOUT 2 YEARS AFTER THE UNIT WAS REPLACED, I STARTED MY CAR TO FIND THAT THE LIGHT WAS ON, BUT THE AUDIO UNIT WAS NOT PRODUCING ANY SOUND. I AM CALLING THE DEALER TODAY, BUT I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A RADIO ON A CAR AT ALL, NOW I AM GOING TO REPLACE IT TWICE ON A CAR THAT IS 4 YEARS OLD. SOME HOW I DON'T THINK THIS IS GOING TO BE GRATIS.*AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN THE VEHICLE CRASHED WHILE TRAVELING AT 5 MPH. THE CONSUMERS FOOT SLIPPED OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR HEAD AND NECK INJURIES. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. HE HAS NOT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED, AND IS NOW DRIVABLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. *AK UPDATED 11/29/05. *JB
THE THROTTLE CABLE STICKS IN COLD WEATHER, PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. ONE INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN GEAR. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP WAS TO PUT THE GEARSHIFT IN NEUTRAL AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD.*AK
MY ACCORD DIES OUT ON WARM START UPS WHEN IT IS IN COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS. I ALSO CALLED HONDA USA AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT SUPPOSE TO NO MATTER HOW COLD IT WAS. I BROUGHT IT TO HONDA OF SF TWICE ALREADY, BUT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. A FEW OF MY FRIENDS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THEIR ACCORDS. *CB

WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THEY WERE NOT WORKING. THIS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST MONTH. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE WARMED UP BEFORE APPLYING THE BRAKES. *AK

I HAVE 2000 HONDA ACCORD LX (AUTO) AND I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY AIR BAG SYSTEM. MY SRS LIGHT TURNED ON, HOWEVER I CAN'T RECALL WHEN IT STARTED BUT IT IS SAFE TO SAY THAT IT'S STARTED A COUPLE YEARS BACK. BUT ANY WAYS, I HAVE HAD MY SRS SYSTEM LOOKED AT AND RESET SEVERAL TIMES AND THE SRS LIGHT JUST KEEPS COMING BACK ON. I BELIEVE THERE IS DEFECT WITH THE SRS SYSTEM BECAUSE SEVERAL OF MY FRIEND AND COLLEAGUES AT WORK HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. CAN THE NHTSA PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM. THANK YOU. *JB

DASHBOARD LIGHTING IS NONFUNCTIONING FOR NO KNOWN REASON. DEALER SERVICE RECOMMENDS REMOVAL OF ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FOR REPAIR AND /OR REPLACEMENT OF BULBS AND RECALIBRATION OF ODOMETER AT A COST OF OVER $500. VEHICLE HAS 20,000 MILES AND IS BEYOND ORIGINAL WARRANTY PERIOD.*AK
BROKEN WELD UNDER DRIVER SEAT PERMITTED THE SEAT TO "ROCK" BACKWARDS DURING ACCELERATION WITH POSSIBLE LOSS OF CONTROL.*AK
DISC BRAKE ROTORS WARPED. DEALER TURNED THEM BUT THEY CONTINUE TO RE-WARP. DEALER DENIED PRESENCE OF PROBLEM AND BLAMED THE PROBLEM ON ECESSIVE DRIVING. *AK
FRONT PASSENGER SEAT HAS FOR 3 YEARS FAILED TO LOCK INTO PLACE AFTER THE FRONT SEAT IS MOVED FORWARD TO ALLOW ACCESS IN THE BACKSEAT. MY WIFE WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT SEAT AND UPON A ABRUPT STOP HE SEAT ACCELERATED FORWARD AND SHE HIT HER HEAD ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. EVEN WITH A SEAT BELT ON THIS DANGEROUS DEFECT COULD NOT PREVENT BODILY INJURY TO MY WIFE. THE MANUFACTUER STATES THAT EVEN AFTER LOOKING AT THIS SEAT SEVERAL TIME, IT IS OPERATIONAL AS EXPECTED.*AK
WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FIRST STARTED, THE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND STAYED ON UNTIL THE PADS WARMED UP A LITTLE. THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN TEN TIMES WITH THIS VEHICLE. *JB FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED WHEN IT WAS COLD OUTSIDE. CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DO TO A SENSOR THAT DIDN'T SIT RIGHT AND IT CAUSED THE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. *PH
THE RED SRS LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON FOR A PERIOD OF TWO WEEKS. DURING THIS TIME, THE CAR WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSTIC. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS AND CITED THAT PERHAPS ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT NEAR THE DRIVER SEAT WAS CAUSING INTERFERENCE OF SOME KIND. THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE, AS I HAVE A 2000 (HONDA ACCORD CPE EX V6) AND HAVE ALWAYS HAD A CELL PHONE AND NOT HAD PROBLEMS TILL NOW. THE DEALERSHIP RESET THE LIGHT AND IT HAS NOT COME UP SINCE. BUT I HAVE READ THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED WITH OTHER CARS. I FEEL A RECALL SHOULD BE DONE. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT CAN BE POTENTIALLY SERIOUS DURING AN ACCIDENT IF THE AIRBAGS WERE NOT TO DEPLOY. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT COULD MEAN ANYTHING FROM THE FRONT OR SIDE AIRBAGS. I DON'T THINK THAT THEY SHOULD TAKE THAT RISK.*AK
WINDSHIELD OF MY HONDA ACCORD SE 2000 MODEL SUDDENLY HAD A CRACK. *LA
DELPHI ALTERNATOR FAILED. FIRST NOTICED DUE TO NOISE COMING FROM ALTERNATOR. WITH NO DASH WARNING LIGHTS ON, VOLTAGE MEASURED AS LOW AS ~8 VOLTS, AND ENGINE THEN STALLED COMPLETELY WHEN HIGH BEAM LIGHTS WERE SWITCHED ON. CONFIRMED WIRING GOOD, REMOVED DISCHARGED BATTERY, RECHARGED BATTERY, BATTERY CONDITION LOAD-TESTED GOOD, AND WARNING LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON ONLY AFTER RUNNING ENGINE AT IDLE AND THEN ~3000RPM FOR ~5 MINUTES. VOLTAGE MONITORING CONFIRMED ONLY BATTERY VOLTAGE HAD BEEN PRESENT LONG BEFORE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. ALTERNATOR SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED THIS SOON, BUT NOT HAVING AN IMMEDIATE WARNING INDICATION THAT CHARGING SYSTEM HAS FAILED IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION. (LUCKILY THE CAR STALLED IN MY GARAGE, NOT MINUTES BEFORE IN MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC.*AK
