TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. HE STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING GEARS. HE THEN TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY TO RESET THE ENGINE ERROR CODE. AS A CONSEQUENCE, HIS RISK FOR A VEHICLE CRASH WAS INCREASED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION, NOR HAS IT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 143000.

I HAVE 2000 HONDA ACCORD LX. ON HIGHWAY WHERE THERE WAS ONLY ONE LANE AND I HAD TO OVER TAKE A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE BY MOVING TO INCOMING TRAFFIC LANE. SUDDENLY MY CAR WAS NOT ACCELERATING I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY SLAM THE BREAKS AND MOVE BACK TO MY LANE TO AVOID THE ACCIDENT. LATER I FOUND THAT IT WAS A TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN MY CAR. IT SEEMS TO BE KNOWN PROBLEM WITH HONDA ACCORD AND MOST OF THE PEOPLE ARE GETTING IT IN 70K -100K MILES RANGE. IT IS CAUSING SAFETY HAZARD AND THESE SHOULD BE RECALL OR FIXED BY HONDA. MY HONDA HAS ONLY 80K MILES ON IT. *TR
AT 3 PM I DROVE DOWN TO PICK UP MAIL (FROM CAR WINDOW) AT THE END OF PIPESTEM. BACKED UP TURNING RIGHT TO MAKE U TURN FOR RETURN. STRAIGHTENED WHEELS AND STARTED FORWARD TO BEGIN LEFT TURN ON NARROW ROAD, A MANEUVER I HAVE PERFORMED DOZENS OF TIMES. CAR ACCELERATED DESPITE IMMEDIATE BRAKING AND RAN OFF EMBANKMENT INTO WOODS. UNABLE TO STOP I DELIBERATELY HIT A TREE TO AVOID DRIVING INTO POND. TRIPLE A PULLED THE CAR OUT OF THE WOODS AND CRAFTSMAN AUTO BODY OF CHANTILLY (VA) DID THE REPAIRS. I ASSUMED IT HAD BEEN A GLITCH IN THE ACCELERATOR BUT COULD NOT PROVE IT. I NOW PRACTICE THROWING THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL FROM TIME TO TIME IN CASE IT HAPPENS AGAIN. RECENT NEWSPAPER REPORTS OF SIMILAR CASES INDUCED ME TO MAKE THIS REPORT. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO REVERSE ON ITS OWN. SHE SLAMMED ON HER BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE FAILED. THE DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS OK TO STILL DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE REPAIR WOULD COST $3,800. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS VERY UNPREDICTABLE, BUT HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE. IF THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS 109,000 OR LESS, THEY COULD POSSIBLY REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
IT DOES NOT SHIFT FROM 1-2 GEAR SMOOTHLY. IT GOES INTO HIGH RPM (5000) AND THEN JUMPS TO SECOND. THE JERKS ARE VERY NOTICEABLE WHEN ITS SHIFTS GEARS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT FAILS TO LOCK AFTER THE RESTRAINTS ARE PULLED IN PLACE. SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE "AS IS". THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR, BUT THEY COULD NOT MAKE THE REPAIRS. SHE WAS ADVISED TO CALL THE HONDA MANUFACTURER TO CHECK IF THE RECALL PERTAINED TO HER VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,041.
2000 HONDA ACCORD SRS WARNING LIGHT. HONDA SHOULD REPAIR THIS DEFECT REGARDLESS OF AGE OR MILEAGE OF THIS CAR. MY CAR HAS 159,000 MILES SO IT IS NOT WITHIN THE WINDOW OF THEIR SERVICE BULLETIN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE SPEED CONTROL WAS ENGAGED. THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO DISENGAGE IT BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THERE WAS A SUDDEN FORCEFUL ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN. HE PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO OPERATE IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNABLE TO BE ENTERED INTO THE SYSTEM. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 125,000.
I HAVE 2000 HONDA ACCORD; ODOMETER: 84,196. THE CAR IS EXHIBITING THE EXACT SAME TRANSMISSION PROBLEM FOR WHICH HONDA HAD EXTENDED THEIR WARRANTY COVERAGE FOR 93 MONTHS/109,000 MILES.. THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM USUALLY HAPPENS BECAUSE OF DRIVING THE CAR FOR LONG.. SINCE I DRIVE LESS, I DID NOT HIT THIS PROBLEM UNTIL NOW, BUT MY CAR IS NOW MORE THAN 93 MONTHS OLD.. I WENT TO THE HONDA DEALER , I ASKED THEM TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG MODULE OF MY HONDA ACCORD 2000 . THE AIR BAG OF THIS VEHICLE IS TURNED ON ALL THE TIME . I SHOWED THEM COPY OF THE ODI NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER : 02V080000. THEY CLAIMED THAT I HAVE TO PAY $89.00 TO TEST THE CAR , AND THEN THEY WILL CHECK THE VIN NUMBER. I HAVE A 2000 HONDA ACCORD EX 4-DOOR WITH 4 CYLINDER ENGINE, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED AND THE AND SHIFTED INTO DRIVE, YOU CAN THEN REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. THIS INDICATES A FAILURE OF THE IGNITION SWITCHED INTERLOCK FUNCTION. I CALLED HONDA AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY CAR HAD NO RECALL NOTICES FOR IT'S V.I.N. NUMBER. I AM AWARE THAT THEIR WAS A RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM REF:NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V025000 & NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE05002 . HONDA HAD SUPPOSEDLY UNDER A HIDDEN WARRANTY SWAPPED OUT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IN MY CAR. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED THE FIRST TIME,IDENTICAL PROBLEM HAS RECURRED. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN D4 ON THE DASH STARTS BLINKING AND I COULD ONLY DRIVE TO 3RD GEAR. WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART ITS OK UNTIL I DRIVE FOR A FEW MINUTES. RANDOMLY THE CAR WILL REV BUT THE CAR WON'T GO FORWARD UNTIL IT JERKS VIOLENTLY AND CATCHES GEAR. NUMEROUS OCCASIONS I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER BUT THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY WILL NOT UPHOLD THE SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE BECAUSE MY MILEAGE WAS OVER. TECHNICALLY AFTER THE FIRST REPAIR IN THE SAME AMOUNT MILEAGE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED BUT THEY TOLD ME FROM THE PURCHASE OF THE CAR I AM OVER THE MILEAGE. *TR

MY CAR IS A HONDA ACCORD 2000 4 DOOR. I HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION TWICE IN THIS CAR. THE FIRST TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED IN 2006 THE SECOND WAS APRIL 2009. AFTER TAKING MY CAR TO THE REPAIR SHOP, I WAS TOLD THAT MY TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REBUILT AND THIS COULD COST UP TO $3000. I WENT TO ANOTHER SHOP FOR A SECOND OPINION AND THEY CHANGED THE SOLENOIDS. AFTER A WEEK OF DRIVING FINE, THE SAME INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN WHILE BRINGING MY SON TO SCHOOL. CURRENTLY THE CAR IS BACK IN THE SHOP TO HAVE THE TORQUE CONVERTER CHANGED OR TO POSSIBLY HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT. WHILE SEARCHING ONLINE, I HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH EARLY 2000 HONDA ACCORDS AND ALL THAT HAS BEEN DONE IS AN EXTENSION ON THIS WARRANTY WHICH DOES ME NO GOOD SINCE I AM PAST IT. SRS AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. I HAVE LOOKED INTO THIS ONLINE AND THERE SEEMS TO BE MANY COMPLAINTS PERTAINING TO THE SAME ISSUE. HONDA SAYS THEY WILL NOT CHECK IT FOR LESS THAN 100 DOLLARS. THE ISSUE AT HAND INVOLVES A 2000 HONDA ACCORD (COUPE); I AM ABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION WITHOUT PUTTING THE CAR INTO PARK. I AM NOT SURE OF WHEN THIS ISSUE BEGAN. HOWEVER, IN MID-2008, I MISTAKENLY LEFT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND REMOVED THE KEY WHEN PARKING MY CAR IN A PARKING LOT, I LEFT THE PARKING LOT AND MY CAR PROCEEDED TO ROLL BACKWARD AND STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE AT SOME POINT. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN THIS MONTH. AFTER THIS POINT, I RESEARCHED RECALL INFORMATION AND SAW THAT IN 2005, NHTSA ISSUED CAMPAIGN 05V025000. I TOOK MY CAR INTO A DEALER TO HAVE THE ISSUE INVESTIGATED. MY VEHICLE DID INDEED HAVE THE SAME ISSUE (MALFUNCTIONING INTERLOCK) AS THE ONE IN THE RECALL, BUT MY VIN WAS NOT A PART OF THAT RECALL. IT SEEMS ODD TO ME THAT THOUGH MY CAR FALLS INTO THE DATE RANGE, MAKE AND MODEL OF THIS RECALL AND POSSESSES THE SAME ISSUE DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. I AM NOT CONVINCED THAT THIS IS A COINCIDENCE. I AM IN DANGER OF LOSING COVERAGE AS A RESULT OF THIS MALFUNCTION. *TR

HAVE AND OWNED SINCE NEW A 2000 HONDA ACCORD LX 4-DOOR SEDAN. IT FAILED VA STATE INSPECTION DUE TO A SRS LIGHT ON. DEALER RIGHT AWAY WANTS TO CHARGE $100 TO $120 DOLLARS FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS SRS LIGHT PROBLEMS WITH SAME VEHICLE OWNERS. ALL STATING IT WAS A FAULTY OPDS SENSOR/ OPDS UNIT. DEALER CHARGES FROM $500 TO $900 FOR THIS FIX. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND COSTS ARE OUTRAGEOUS. DIAGNOSTIC TEST SHOULD BE FREE ALONG WITH HONDA FREE REPLACEMENT. I'M NOT HAPPY AT ALL. *TR

RG 03099677) WAS WON IN CALIFORNIA IN 2006 EXTENDING THE WARRANTY OF THE 2000-2001 ACCORDS TRANSMISSION WARRANTY TO 93 MONTHS/ 109,000 MILES. HONDA DEALER DIAGNOSED NEED FOR TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT (APPROX $2800) DUE TO TRANSMISSION SLIPPING BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR AND WHEN CAR STOPPING, JUMPING AND STUTTERING. CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND SERVICED REGULARLY. I CONTACTED HONDA OF AMERICA CORPORATE ABOUT A GOODWILL GESTURE DUE TO CAR BEING UNDER IN MILES OF WARRANTY, BUT OVER IN MONTHS BASED ON DATE OF CAR PURCHASE. WAS INFORMED BY CASE MANAGER (CASE NO.N012009-01-2200226) THAT WARRANTY IS "UP" IN CAR AND THEY WOULD NOT HELP IN REPAIR. *TR

AT APPROX. 130,000 MILES THE CAR BEGINS TO SHAKE AND NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST, WITH MY RPM SOARING TO OVER 3500. THE MECHANIC TELLS ME THE LOWER BANDS ARE "BURNT UP" TO THE TUNE OF 1200$. THAT IS JUST TO HAVE THE BANDS REPLACED, AND WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS I AM HEARING WITH TRANSMISSIONS GOING OUT A 2ND AND 3RD TIME ON THESE YEAR MODEL HONDAS IT IS HARD TO INVEST 1200 DOLLARS INTO SOMETHING THAT MIGHT GO OUT AGAIN. *TR

HONDA STATES THAT THERE IS NO RECALL OR WARRANTY ACTION AVAILABLE AND STATES THAT NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE02072 IS INAPPLICABLE AS THERE IS NO RECALL CODE FOR MY VIN IN THEIR INTERNAL SYSTEM. THEIR ONLY PROPOSED CORRECTION ACTION IS A $ 1,500 PLUS REPLACEMENT OF THE SEAT TRACK, AT MY EXPENSE. *TR

THE STRUTS ON BOTH FRONT AND BACK WENT BAD ABOUT 7 YEARS AGO. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET WITH MY BOYFRIEND AT THE TIME, WHO IS A MECHANIC AND HEARD SOME THUMPING AND OTHER NOISES. HE LOOKED IN UNDER MY HONDA AND TOLD ME THAT MY STRUTS ON BOTH THE FRONT AND BACK ARE BAD AND NEED REPLACING. IT'S GOTTEN A LOT WORSE, FLOATING OVER BUMPS, HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME KEEPING IT UNDER CONTROL WHILE TURNING AROUND ANY TYPE OF CORNER AND IF I HAPPEN TO NOT SEE ANY KIND OF BUMP OR WHOLE IN THE ROAD, IT SOUNDS AS IF MY CAR IS GOING TO FALL APART. I HAVE TAKEN EXCEPTIONAL CARE OF MY ACCORD, BUT CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR ALL NEW STRUTS!!
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK AND LEAK TRANSMISSION FLUID. SHE NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A DELAY EVERY TIME SHE WOULD ACCELERATE. SHE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CONSISTENTLY. THE DEALER ADVISED HER THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SHE PAID $100 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. SHE WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD PAY $200-$300 FOR THE REPAIR BUT SHE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REMAINDER WHICH WAS APPROXIMATELY $2,400. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. I HAVE A 2000 HONDA ACCORD WITH AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND V6 ENGINE. ON 12/13/2008, THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING HARD AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE REBUILT AT THE TUNE OF $3200. HERE HAS BEEN YEARLY SERVICE DONE TO PREVENT ANY OTHER ISSUES. ON 12/28/11, THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING HARD, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND A P740 CODE WAS FOUND. CLEARLY THIS IS A FAULTY TRANSMISSION DESIGN AND A RECALL SHOULD BE IN ORDER. THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE THAT HAD THE SAME ISSUES FROM YEARS 1999 TO 2001. THIS ISSUE IS A HAZARD. *TR
DASH LIGHTS GO OUT; THERE'S A RECALL ON THE LX MODEL AND THE EX MODEL HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITHOUT DASH LIGHTS. HONDA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLDGE PROBLEM. OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

AFTER GOING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD THE FRONT SEAT CAME UN-WELDED ON THE FRONT LEFT SIDE, CAUSING THE SEAT TO TILT BACK AND FORTH. DEALER TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT FIX IT, IT NEEDED TO BE WELDED. AUTO REPAIR SAID THAT IT COULDN'T BE WELDED, I NEEDED AT LEAST A NEW SEAT FRAME ($300-$400) OR POSSIBLY A WHOLE NEW SEAT ($800-$900).*TR
DRIVER SEAT WELDING HAS LOOSENED REQUIRING A REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE SEAT INCLUDING THE SEAT MOUNT. I WAS ADVISED THAT IT COULD NOT BE REWELDED BUT WOULD NEED THE ENTIRE SEAT INCLUDING THE SEAT MOUNT COMPLETELY REPLACED. MY VEHICLE FAILED SAFETY INSPECTION DUE TO THE SEAT COMING LOOSE THEREFORE A BRAKE TEST CANNOT BE COMPLETED. *TR

THE LIGHTING ON THE LICENSE PLATE HAD ALSO BLOWN OUT AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. HE REPLACED THE LIGHTING ON THE VEHICLE. ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2008 I WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WHERE THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH THE BACK OF A STOPPED VEHICLE AT A SIGNIFICANT SPEED. THE AIRBAGS IN MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD DID NOT INFLATE. THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGES TOTALED THE VEHICLE AND I WAS INTERESTED IN DETERMINING IF THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS WERE DEFECTIVE AT THE TIME OF THE COLLISION. *TR
MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD IS SHOWING TRANSMISSION PROBLEM (P0740, P0730) WITH 123K. I HAVE SEEN A RECALL PAGE WITH WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR 100K OR 7 YEARS SO I DIDN'T QUALIFY FOR BOTH. THE WARRANTY CLEARLY TELLS THERE MAY BE A MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP ISSUE. HONDA IS WASHING THEIR HANDS AND ASKING ME TO PAY 2200$ FOR REPAIR. WHY SHOULD I BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR MISTAKES?AND I FIRST FELT THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE IN THE MIDDLE OF A CROWDED HIGHWAY(DURING THE EVACUATION OF HURRICANE IKE) AND LUCKILY SAVED FROM A BIG ACCIDENT,. I HAD 4 PEOPLE AND A KID IN MY CAR. THIS IS SURELY A MATTER OF SAFETY. I COULD SEE A LOT OF HONDA TRANSMISSION ISSUE AFTER THE INCIDENT IN WEB. PLEASE TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION TO TAKE THESE VEHICLES OUT OF THE ROAD AS IT MAY CAUSE BIG ACCIDENTS AND HONDA TO REPLACE ALL FAULTY PARTS. *TR
