SIDE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT BEING IN A CAR ACCIDENT
AFTER TAKING CAR INTO CROWN SOUTHPOINT HONDA IN DURHAM, NC ON SEPT. 30 2019 FOR A RECALL ON AIRBAG AND COUPE PAB INSPECTION,NOW THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. 17024. NOW I'M BEING TOLD I WILL BE CHARGED FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED IN SEPT. 2019 WITH 68,000 ORIGINAL MILES, INSPECTED AT WASP AUTOMOTIVE AND HAS NO MECHANICAL OR ELECTRIC ISSUES. SO WHATEVER THE DEALER DID CONTRIBUTED TO THIS PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH DURING TIME ON A ROAD WITH NO STREET LIGHTS, THE CONTACT COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT SHE DID NOT VIEW WAS ON THE ROADWAY. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. DURING THE IMPACT, THE CONTACT HIT HER HEAD DURING THE IMPACT BUT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME AND THEN TOWED AWAY FOR INSPECTION BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V182000 (AIR BAGS) AND CALLED RICHFIELD BLOOMINGTON HONDA (501 W 77TH ST, RICHFIELD, MN 55423, 612-866-8832). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BECAUSE THE DEALER WAS TOO BUSY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,016.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS AS NEEDED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SPEAK WITH A DEALER, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 04V176000(POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
WIND SHIELD WIPER STOPS WORKING IN RAIN WHILE IN MOTION, STOPS FUNCTIONING DURING COMMUTE, STARTED WORKING FINE NEXT DAY MORNING, LATER QUIT WORKING WHEN IT RAINED AGAIN.
HIGH PRESSURE HOSE FOR POWER STEERING LINE LEAKING GET TO BACK SIDE CAN'T FIGURED OUT HOW TO GET THE PARTS OUT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP LIGHT, BOTH FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED INDEPENDENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT AND FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED RIGHT AND LEFT ARM INJURIES, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
WHILE PARKING CAR AT <2 MPH DRIVER FRONT WHEEL HIT CURB. DRIVERS SIDE SEAT RIPPED OPEN BUT AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND THEY CLAIM CAR WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND THAT DEPLOYMENT WAS NORMAL, AND NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY. SUGGESTED I CONTACT AMERICAN HONDA AND LODGE A COMPLAINT, WHICH I DID AND THEY CLAIM THIS WAS NOT AN AIRBAG MALFUNCTION. IF THE SEAT RIPPED OPEN BUT THE AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED, HOW IS THIS NOT A MALFUNCTION? (IT IS STILL NEATLY FOLDED WITHIN THE SEAT). WHY DID IT GO OFF WHEN HITTING A CURB WHILE PARKING AT EXTREMELY LOW SPEED? THIS SEEMS LIKE AN "AIRBAG MALFUNCTION" . I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO AND THAT IT SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY HONDA NOT AT MY COST.
MY TRANSMISSION IS BROKEN WHY?
STEERING COLUMN INTERMITTENTLY LOCKS UP WHILE DRIVING/MAKING TURNS IN RESIDENTIAL TRAFFIC. BRAKES MUST BE APPLIED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE AND PREVENT AN ACCIDENT. THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK THEN RELEASES AND ALLOWS STEERING TO RETURN TO NORMAL. THIS PROBLEM STARTED WITHIN THE LAST WEEK. ISSUE NOT RELATED TO POWER STEERING. FLUIDS ADEQUATELY MAINTAINED.
AIRBAGS WERE REPLACED PER RECALL. BUT THERE IS A WARRANTY EXTENSION ON THE REPLACEMENTS. HONDA WON'T EXPLAIN WHY. INTERNET SAYS THEY WERE PACKED WRONG BUT AGAIN I CAN'T GET ANSWERS FROM HONDA UNLESS I PAY THEM $125. I'M WORRIED THAT I'M DRIVING WITH UNSAFE AIRBAGS.
TAKATA RECALL: MY SON WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT OVER 60 MPH WHEN THE SIDE AIRBAG (DRIVER SIDE) SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOYED. IT SLAMMED INTO HIS LEFT ARM WITH EXTREME FORCE,KNOCKING HIM TOWARD THE PASSENGER DOOR MAKING HIM SWERVE IN FRONT OF AN 18 WHEELER. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG THEN DEPLOYED AND AS HE WAS TRYING TO PULL OFF THE INTERSTATE THE PASSENGER FRONT AIR BAG DEPLOYED. HE WAS ABLE TO STOP IN THE AREA BETWEEN THE ON RAMP AND THE INTERSTATE, AS HE EXITED THE VEHICLE THE DRIVER FRONT AIRBAG DEPLOYED. MAY 2016 THE AIRBAGS AND IGNITION RECALL REPAIRS WERE DONE. AFTER INCIDENT DEALERSHIP RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND SAID ALL HE COULD SEE WAS THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SRS UNIT. HE ASKED US IF WE HAD MADE ANY ELECTRICAL MODIFICATIONS (WHICH WE HAVEN'T) I ASKED HIM IF THAT PART HAD BEEN CHECKED OR REPLACED DURING THE RECALL AND HE SAID THAT WASN'T PART OF THE RECALL. HE SAID WE SHOULD CALL HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I LEARNED THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON THE REPLACEMENTS BECAUSE OF MOISTURE BEING INTRODUCED DURING MANUFACTURING.ALSO THERE HAVE BEEN PROBLEMS WITH CORROSION AND MALFUNCTION OF THE SRS UNITS DUE TO EXTREME TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT THE HEAT INDEX WAS 110 AND THE HUMIDITY WAS EXTREMELY HIGH. ARKANSAS IS LOCATED IN THE SECOND OF THREE PRIORITY REGIONS FOR THE SRS RECALL.ALSO WHILE RESEARCHING SPONTANEOUS AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT CAUSES, I LEARNED THAT THE SRS UNIT MOISTURE PROBLEM AND THE DEGRADATION OF ACCELERANT FROM MOISTURE CAN NOT ONLY CAUSE THE AIRBAGS TO NOT DEPLOY ON IMPACT, BUT ALSO CAUSE THEM TO DEPLOY WITH NO IMPACT. THIS INFORMATION SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL INFORMATION AND HONDA SHOULD EXPAND THE SRS RECALL. WE ARE LUCKY LIVES WERE NOT LOST IN THIS INCIDENT, BUT THAT MAY NOT BE THE CASE THE NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO SAFETY RECALL NOTICE NHTSA 19V-501 PASSENGER FRONTAL AIRBAG INFLATOR. *AS THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL WAS UNABLE TO BE COMPLETED DUE TO THE VEHICLE HAVING HAD A SALVAGE TITLE. THE DEALER COULD NOT BE SURE THE PARTS ON THE VEHICLE WERE ORIGINAL; THEREFORE, THE CONSUMER HAD TO PAY FOR PARTS BEFORE THE REPAIR COULD BE COMPLETED.*JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND LOST POWER. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT A FAULT CODE WAS NOT RETRIEVED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
AUTONATIC TRANSMISSION
ERROR CODE IDENTIFIED 54-5X FROM DEFECTIVE SEAT BELTS OR AIR BAGS, INTERNAL FAILURE OF SRS UNIT. LIFETIME WARRANTY FOR SEAT BELTS IS BEING DENIED AS APPLICABLE BY HONDA FILED MANAGER AND HONDA DEALER. SUBSEQUENT TO SUCH CONFIRMED DX, RIGHT SIGNAL MARKS BEGAN TO FAIL.
TAKATA RECALL MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD SEDAN IS ON THE LIST OF CARS WITH TAKATA AIRBAGS TO BE RECALLED BUT HONDA IS NOT RECALLING MY CAR. I FEEL THAT IT SHOULD BE RECALLED BUT HONDA IS REFUSING TO REPLACE MY AIRBAGS. HOW CAN HONDA REFUSE TO REPLACE MY AIRBAGS IF IT IS ON THE LIST OF CARS BEING RECALLED FOR AIRBAGS. ACCORDING TO ANNA, WHO IS SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE FROM HONDA OF SEATTLE, JUST GIVING ME AN UPDATE ON MY CAR, SO THE TECHNICIAN VERIFIED THE LIGHTS AND HESITATION WHILE DRIVING IS DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILING INTERNALLY, WHEN WE DRAINED THE FLUID THERE WAS DEBRIS IN THE OLD FLUID AND IT WAS COMPLETELY DARK, WHICH INDICATES THAT THERE IS DAMAGE INTERNALLY. TECHNICIAN SAID REBUILD OF TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO COST ME AROUND $6500. MY CAR HAS HAD 106500MILES.
ON 5/11/2019 I WAS IN A SERIOUS AUTO ACCIDENT TO WHERE MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT ALL. MY CAR WAS COMPLETELY TOTALED AND I'M LUCKY TO BE ALIVE TODAY. I'M CONCERNED WAY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN THERE WAS IMPACT ON EVERY SIDE AND TRIGGER POINTS OF MY CAR. I WANT TO KNOW DID I EVEN HAVE AIRBAGS BECAUSE I EVERYONE THAT HAS INSPECTED THE CAR SAID THEY SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED WITH ALL THE IMPACT TO THE CAR. I RECENTLY BOUGHT A USED HONDA CORD WITH PERFECT CARFAX AND ALL STOCK PARTS. THE BATTERY DIED ON IT TWICE AND IT FAILED TO START WITHIN TWO DAYS OF BUYING IT. I WENT TO REPLACE THE BATTERY AND AS SOON AS I DID MY 3RD GEAR OF MY ENGINE 'WENT OUT' ACCORDING TO THE MIDAS MECHANIC. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGH WAY AND ALMOST YANKED ME INTO THE CONCREATE STREET RAILS. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO?
THE AIRBAG LIGHT TURNED ON WHEN I WAS DRIVING THE HIGHWAY, NO REASON AS TO WHY IT WOULD TURN ON BECAUSE I DIDN'T GET INTO A WRECK OR CRASH AT ALL. I'VE HAD THIS CAR FOR ABOUT A YEAR, BOUGHT IT FROM A PREVIOUS OWNER THEY HAD SAID IT WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION. SO IRRITATED BECAUSE I USE THIS CAR EVERY SINGLE DAY TO DRIVE TO WORK AND FROM AND I ALSO TAKE MY DAUGHTER TO HER DOCTORS APPOINTMENTS IN THIS VEHICLE. II DON'T WANT THE AIRBAGS GOING OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING AND POSSIBLY CRASH BECAUSE I WILL SUE. THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON SINCE LIKE A WEEK INTO BUYING THE CAR AND I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC BUT IT STILL TURNS ON.

I SAW THAT THE CURRENT OWNER MENTIONED THAT THIS CAR FAX WAS CLEAN. THAT IS NOT TRUE. MY DAUGHTER WAS OWNER #2 OF THE CAR. WE BOUGHT IT 10/19/16. ABOUT FIVE MONTHS LATER SHE SLID ON BLACK ICE ON ROUTE NINE IN MA AND CRASHED INTO A CEMENT JERSEY BARRIER. THE CAR WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THIS. YOU SHOULD REPORT IT.
2003 ACCORD EX SEDAN, 4 CYL, 95,970 MILES. THE SIDE AIRBAG (DRIVERS SEAT) DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON WHILE MY 17 YEAR OLD SON WAS DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT, 35 MPH ROADWAY. THE SEATBELT DID NOT LOCK-UP. I CONTACTED THE DEALER SERVICE MANAGER BY PHONE, HE TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS IMPOSSIBLE AND THAT MY SON WAS AT FAULT. HE TOLD ME THAT THE AIRBAGS CAN DEPLOY JUST FROM SLIDING SIDEWAYS. HE ALSO STATED THAT IF I BROUGHT THE CAR TO HIM AND PAID $135.00 HE WOULD CHECK THE CAR (COMPUTER) AND SHOW THAT THERE WAS AN "INCIDENT" THAT DEPLOYED THE AIRBAG. AS A RETIRED STATE TROOPER (RET. 2015) I HAVE INVESTIGATED IN EXCESS OF 4,000 CRASHES. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE CAR, NO INDICATION OF A COLLISION WITH ANYTHING. I ALSO KNOW MY SON. I HAVE ALSO NEVER SEEN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT WITHOUT SOME SORT OF COLLISION. A SIMPLE INTERNET QUERY SHOWS THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM, NOT JUST WITH FRONT AIRBAGS. I DID TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE CAR, BUT CAN'T UPLOAD THEM NOW.
POWER STEERING HOSE CAME APART WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET. STEERING SUDDENLY BECAME DIFFICULT, WHEN I GOT HOME THERE AN EXECUTIVE AMOUNT OF POWER STEERING FLUID UNDER THE CAR ON THE DRIVEWAY. WHEN I INSPECTED UNDER THE HOOD, THE POWER STEERING HOSE HAD COME APART.
I JUST BOUGHT MY HONDA ACCORD 2003 FROM A USED CAR DEALER AND IT HAD 120XXX MILES LITERALLY DROVE IT TWO MONTHS AND IT BROKE DOWN MECHANIC SAID IT WAS THE TEANSMISSION SO I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND I SEEN THAT THESE ACCORDS HAVE BAD TRANSMISSIONS EVERYWHERE I SEEN SOMEONE HAD A PROBLEM WITH TRANS I CHECKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL BUT THEY SAID THERE WASN'T THIS IS REALLY DISAPPOINTED KNOWING I I LYNCH HAD IT TWO MONTHS AND HAVING THE SAME ISSUE OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING
CATASTROPHIC CENTRIFUGAL EXPLOSION OF A FIRESTONE AFFINITY TOURING TIRE WHILE TRAVELLING ON A CONGESTED INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT A FAIRLY HIGH RATE OF SPEED (65MPH). THE FORCE OF THE EXPLOSION TORE OFF THE BUMPER VALANCE, BUMPER CUSHION, BELLY PAN, INNER FENDER WELLS, FENDER SKIRT, FENDER TO BODY MOUNTS AND DAMAGED THE FENDER AND SAME-SIDE DOOR. THE DEBRIS SHOWERED INTO TRAFFIC. TIRE WAS PURCHASED NEW AT A FIRESTONE DEALER IN 2014 AND HAD 26K MILES ACCORDING TO THE FIGURE ON WARRANTY. IT HAD NO INJURIES AND WAS NEVER REPAIRED. IT'S SPEED RATING WAS 92T AND IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN WEEK 31 OF 2012. THIS TIRE AS WELL AS OTHER THREE SHOWED SIGNS OF PREMATURE WEAR AND DETERIORATION. HAVE PURCHASE RECEIPT AND WARRANTY TO SUPPORT THE CLAIM OF PREMATURE WEAR AND DETERIORATION. HAVE THE TIRE AND CAR ALSO. PHOTOGRAPHS ARE AVAILABLE AND HAVE BEEN UPLOADED TO A GOOGLE'S DATA BASE FOR "FIRESTONE CENTRIFUGAL TIRE EXPLOSION."

TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL LETTERS FOR BOTH THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS. THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED IN 2014 AND 2015 BY AN UNKNOWN DEALER; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AFTER THE REPAIR. TAKATA RECALL (POSSIBLY?). I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON JUNE 21, 2018, IN MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD COUPE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, THE ROAD WAS WET, AND I WAS GOING AROUND A CURVE IN THE ROAD (GOING ABOUT 40 MPH). MY CAR LOST TRACTION AND FISH TAILED, THEN ENDED UP SLAMMING INTO A TELEPHONE POLE WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE BEING IMPACTED FIRST. THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AIRBAG WENT OFF, BUT MY DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY, AND BECAUSE I WAS NOT WEARING MY SEATBELT MY FACE SMACKED INTO THE STEERING WHEELL. I HAD TO GET STITCHES ON MY CHIN, LIP, AND NOSE. I ALSO HAD TO GET MY FRONT LEFT TOOTH EXTRACTED, AND SUFFERED A DEVIATED SEPTUM AND ROAD RASH FROM THE IMPACT.
MY DAUGHTER DRIVES A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. SHE STOMPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND FELT SOFT UNDERFOOT.THE BRAKES SLOWED THE CAR BUT DID NOT STOP THE CAR. MY DAUGHTER TOOK AN IMMEDIATE RIGHT TURN INTO AN EMPTY PARKING LOT AND PULLED THE KEYS FROM THE CAR. THE CAR COASTED TO A STOP. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, THE RPMS ACCELERATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED.THE DEALER SAYS THAT THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND THAT MECHANICS DROVE THE CAR AND WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM.

I HAVE ASKED FOR THEM TO STOP SENDING ME NOTICES, WORKED DIRECTLY WITH MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, WHO FAXED THE REQUIRED PAPERWORK AND THE ISSUE IS NOT RESOLVED.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 65 MPH, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR SEEMED LIKE IT WAS BRAKING BY ITSELF WITHOUT ME PRESSING THE BRAKES. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND AFTER SPENDING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, FOUND OUT THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS DAMAGED AND BEYOND THE SECOND GEAR, IT IS SLIPPING. THIS IS WHAT CAUSED THAT DANGEROUS BEHAVIOR ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY LED TO AN ACCIDENT BY BEING REAR ENDED OR WORSE. HONDA SHOULD REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A DETERMINATION OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
