BLACK PAINT BEGAN FADING IN SPOTS ON HOOD AND FENDERS. PAINT IS NOW ALMOST COMPLETELY GONE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED AND LOCKED AT 75 MPH. THE WHEELS SQUEALED LOUDLY. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND AVOID A CRASH. THROUGH ONLINE RESEARCH, SHE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR THIS FAILURE, INCLUDING NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V176000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL HER BACK AND LET HER KNOW IF HER VIN WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IF THE FAILURES ARE IDENTICAL. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 92,000. UPDATED 2/17/10 *CN UPDATED 02/22/10.*JB
AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON ON THE DASHBOARD. HONDA SERVICE SAID THAT THERE IS INTERNAL FAILURE OF SRS UNIT AND THIS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *JS
2003 HONDA ACCORD V6 TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF GEAR, AND IT WILL NOT GO IN REVERSE OR SHIFT BEYOND SECOND GEAR ONCE THIS STARTS HAPPENING. EVENTS LEADING TO THE FAILURE WERE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THIS VEHICLE HAS 120,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE. IT ALSO HAD THE TRANSMISSION RECALL WORK FROM 2004 PERFORMED SHORTLY AFTER IT WAS ANNOUNCED. IT OCCURS SHORTLY AFTER STARTING TO DRIVE AS SOON AS THE TRANSMISSION IS WARM. IT CAUSES EXTREME JERKS DUE TO THE SUDDEN DECELERATION WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT IN TRAFFIC. IT CAUSES PROBLEMS THEN ACCELERATING AND THE CAR IS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN PAST 30-35 MPH. THE CORRECTION IS TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALERSHIP IS LOOKING INTO THIS FOR ME NOW AND MAY HAVE OLD PARTS AVAILABLE. *TR
MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD 3.0 V6 TRANSMISSION STALLED OUT AT A RED LIGHT WITH NO PRIOR WARNING OF FAILURE. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY A MILE FROM MY DAUGHTERS HOME BUT, THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS CAR ACCIDENT RESULTING IN HARMING MYSELF , MY GRANDSON AND ANY OTHERS THAT MAY HAVE REAR ENDED ME. THIS IS THE SECOND TRANSMISSION THAT HAS BEEN IN THIS VEHICLE , A YEAR AND A HALF AGO THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THE 1ST ONE BUT THE CAR AT THAT TIME WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND IT WAS REPLACED. MY CONCERN IS BOTH THESE INCIDENTS HAPPENED WITH NO PRIOR WARNING OF FAILURE, NO WARNING LIGHTS UNTIL THE ACTION HAPPENED IN AN INSTANT , YOU ARE DRIVING NORMALLY AND NEXT SECOND THE CAR STALLS , STILL RUNNING WONT MOVE OR MOVES SLOWLY WITH MUCH SHIFTING OF GEARS. *TR
2003 HONDA ACCORD DRIVING ON FREEWAY, SLOWED FOR TRAFFIC, THEN CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 25 MILES AN HOUR. DROVE TO DEALER TRANSMISSION FAILURE. ALL REQUIRED SERVICE HAD BEEN PERFORMED AS RECOMMENDED, AS WELL AS A RECALL SERVICE IN 2004. TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. HAD A 100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY, FAILURE AT 130,000 MILES. HONDA SEEMS TO KNOW OF DEFECT OFFERED TO PAY 25% "STANDARD DISCOUNT" FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS OUR 2003 HONDA ACCORD V6 AUTOMATIC AT 60 MPH, THERE WAS SUDDEN DOWNSHIFT CAUSING SEVERE ENGINE BRAKING, FRONT WHEELS LOCKED AND I NEARLY HAD A SEVERE ACCIDENT THAT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN FATALITY OR SERIOUS INJURY. APPARENTLY, I AM DISCOVERING THAT THIS A VERY PREVALENT PROBLEM ON 2003 ACCORD V6 AUTO TRANSMISSION. IT HAPPENED TO OUR AUTO TECHNICIAN WHO TRIED TO REPLICATE IT. HONDA SEEMS VERY INDIFFERENT ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND I HOPE AND PRAY NHTSA WILL FULLY INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. THIS IS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE NOT A CAR PERFORMANCE ISSUE! *TR
MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING UP I-85 AND OUR ACCORD JUST STOPPED ACCELERATING AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT TO 6000 RPM+ BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT GO ANY WHERE, TRAFFIC WAS SPEEDING UP BEHIND HIM AND HE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. HE GOT THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SAT THERE FOR IT TO COOL DOWN SOME. NO LIGHTS WERE ON STATING THAT THERE WAS ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. HE WAITED AWHILE AND STARTED THE CAR BACK UP AND IT ONLY MADE IT FOR ABOUT 15 MORE MILES BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION STARTED NOT WORKING AGAIN. THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THERE WAS NO OTHER WARNING OR NO PROBLEMS BEFORE THIS TO ANY INDICATION THAT SOMETHING WAS GOING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I PURCHASED THE HONDA NEW IN 2004, THINKING THAT HONDA WAS A GREAT CAR (SINCE MY DAD IS AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND TOLD ME THAT I COULD NOT GO WRONG WITH A HONDA), NOT KNOWING THAT ONLY AFTER 4 1/2 YEARS LATER I WOULD BE FACED WITH A BAD TRANSMISSION AND MY HUSBAND ALMOST BEING RUN DOWN ON THE INTERSTATE BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD JUST STOP WORKING! I AM WAITING FOR HONDA TO CONTACT ME BACK ABOUT THE REPAIRS, BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY WILL PROBABLY NOT HELP WITH ANY COSTS OR RECOGNIZING THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2003 TRANSMISSIONS IN THEIR VEHICLES. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE MAKERS EARLY 2000 TRANSMISSIONS AND THE SAME PROBLEM IS REPORTED OVER AND OVER AGAIN.I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING FROM HONDA STATING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS. MY HUSBAND AND I TRANSPORT OUR 2 SMALL CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE AS WELL, AND WE THOUGHT THAT WE WERE IN A VERY SAFE VEHICLE, UNTIL THIS INCIDENT TODAY. LUCKILY NO ACCIDENT BUT BY THE GRACE OF GOD. TRANSMISSION ON 2003 V6 HONDA ACCORD BEGAN SLIPPING AND PUT ME IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION 5 TIMES IN MY ATTEMPT TO GET HOME. CAR'S TRANSMISSION LOCKS UP, ENGINES REV AND NO POWER TO MOVE. HAVE BEEN TOLD BY HONDA DEALERSHIP THAT IT WILL COST 4000 DOLLARS TO REPLACE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO A LOWER GEAR, SHE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE MADE A NOISE AND VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE DEALER TOLD HER THAT THE VEHICLE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN REPAIRED ACCORDING TO RECALL 04V176000 (POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 230,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.

2003 HONDA ACCORD EX FAILED TRANSMISSION TWICE. FIRST AT 74,000 MILES AND THEN AGAIN AT 103,000 MILES. *TR
THE CAR ENGINE HESITATES AND SEEMS TO GET STUCK WHEN SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR, LOOSES POWER WHEN CLIMBING A HILL, OR THE ENGINE BEGINS TO REV UP (RPM'S INCREASE) AND THE ENGINE GETS LOUD, BUT THERE IS NO POWER. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS FAILING AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT ONLY 82, 500 MILES. THEY CLAIM THAT THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. A NEW TRANSMISSION WILL COST $3500. *TR

I HAVE A 2003 HONDA ACCORD THAT THE TRANSMISSION WENT ON IT WITH 90K MILES ON IT THAT THE CAR MADE NOISE ABOUT 5 MONTHS AFTER BUYING IT NEW FROM DEALER BUT THEY TOLD ME THAT ALL HONDA MAKE THAT NOISE GETTING TO KNOW THE REPAIR TECH AT HONDA ONE TECH TOLD ME THAT THE NOISE I WAS HEARING WAS FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT IT WAS GOING TO GO AND. YES IT DID IT WENT A COUPLE A MONTHS LATER DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR JERKED HARD THE IT SLOWED DOWN AND LUCKILY I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 60 MPH THAT I COASTED ACROSS TWO LANES WITHOUT GETTING ME OR MY FAMILY KILLED EVERYONE WAS SCARED AND SO I SHUT THE CAR OFF WAITED ABOUT 5 MIN AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT DROVE GOT OFF FIRST EXIT AND DID IT AGAIN SO I STOP AGAIN DROVE AGAIN THEN IT JERKED HARD AGAIN THEN THIS TIME THE CAR DID NOT MOVE AT ALL . *TR
I WAS DRIVING WITH MY FOUR YEAR OLD IN THE CAR, GOING ABOUT 70/HOUR ON THE FREEWAY WHEN MY CAR VIOLENTLY DOWNSHIFTED ON ITS OWN TO ABOUT 30/HOUR. IT FELT AS IF WE HIT A BRICKWALL. LUCKILY NO CARS WERE BEHIND, OTHERWISE THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. WE WERE ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT MY 2003 ACCORD NEEDED A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION. A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET FOUND HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, MANY OF WHICH OCCURRED IN THE SAME DANGEROUS MANNER. HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, BUT HAS FAILED TO ISSUE A RECALL. THE CORPORATE OFFICE COVERED 25%, AND I WAS STILL OUT OF POCKET $2300 FOR A REFURBISHED TRANSMISSION, WHICH I FEAR WILL ALSO FAIL AT A LATER DATE...SEEING AS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THIS COULD HAVE LEAD TO A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT AND WE WERE VERY LUCKY. IF SOMETHING IS NOT DONE, SOMEONE WILL BE KILLED. *TR

I SUBMITTED THE PROBLEM TO 'AMERICAN HONDA', AND BECAUSE OF THE SHEER DANGEROUS CONDITION THE CAR DISPLAYED TODAY, PROBABLY WON'T DRIVE THE CAR UNTIL 'AMERICAN HONDA' DECIDES TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I, OR MY WIFE, KIDS COULD HAVE BEING KILLED IF WE WERE ON A FREEWAY AND IT LOCKED AT ACCELERATION LIKE IT DID TODAY TWICE. WARNING TO OTHERS, THIS IS NOT A SIMPLE HONDA TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, IT IS SEVERE ENOUGH WHERE IT SHAKES THE ENTIRE CAR. I BOUGHT A NEW 2003 HONDA ACCORD SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS SMALL THINGS BREAK OR GO WRONG. THEY WERE SO MINOR AND HONDA TOOK CARE OF MOST OF THEM IT DID NOT MATTER. MAY 11, 2009 WHILE DRIVING ON THE FWY AT 70 MPH THE CAR DROPPED TO 20MPH ON IT'S OWN, AFTER NEARLY GETTING HIT TWICE WHILE GETTING OFF THE FWY I TOOK IT TO MY HONDA DEALER WHO TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED AT 93,000 MILES. I AM ATTEMPTING TO HAVE HONDA HELP WITH THIS AS I AM UNEMPLOYED AND CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY $4,000 MYSELF. *TR

ON MAY 9, 2009, WHILE DRIVING MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD, IT BEGAN TO LURCH FORWARD UNCONTROLLABLY. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO STOP, IT CONTINUED TO GO FORWARD. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR. AFTER I GOT IT STOPPED IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM 2ND GEAR. ALSO, IT WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND IT HAS 118,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IT WILL COST $2,500.00. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN BUSY TRAFFIC, THE TRANSMISSION ON MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD STARTED TO BEHAVE IN A VERY ERRATIC WAY. FIRST THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV TO ABOUT 5000 RPM AND THEN IT WOULD SUDDENLY ENGAGE CAUSING THE CAR TO JUMP FORWARD CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO APPLY THE BRAKES IMMEDIATELY. I WAS VERY CONCERNED BY THIS ACTION. AFTER BRIEF EXPERIMENTATION I DETERMINED THAT IF I APPLIED GRADUAL ACCELERATION AND KEPT THE RPM TO UNDER 2500, I COULD GET THE CAR TO TRAVEL WITHOUT JERKING. IT'S THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER OWNED AN AUTOMOBILE WHERE I FELT CONCERN FOR MY PERSONAL SAFETY. AFTER FIRST ENCOUNTERING THIS PROBLEM, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP WITHIN 2 HOURS OF FIRST OBSERVING THE PROBLEM. I WAS INFORMED BY MY HONDA DEALER THAT THE FIRST STAGE OF MY TRANSMISSION WAS BAD AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AFTER DOING SOME INITIAL RESEARCH ON THE WEB I AM ALARMED AT THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE RATE FOR THE 2003 ACCORD. I AM EVEN MORE SURPRISED THAT YOUR OFFICE HAS DONE NOTHING TO BRING THIS ISSUE TO THE ATTENTION OF OTHER 2003 ACCORD OWNERS AND TO HOLD HONDA ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT APPEARS TO BE A QUALITY CONTROL/ DESIGN ISSUE. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED THAT THE TRANSMISSION BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $ 3,000. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 122,000. FOUND OUT FROM HONDA OF MARYSVILLE, OHIO EMPLOYEE (QUALITY CONTROL DEPT) THAT HONDA HAS BEEN AWARE FOR SOME TIME THAT THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW WITH THIS TRANSMISSION, ESPECIALLY WITH THE '3RD GEAR SHIFT MODULE' AND THAT HONDA SHOULD REPLACE ALL TRANSMISSION THAT FAIL AT NO CHARGE SINCE IT IS A DESIGN FLAW, BUT HONDA DOESN'T WANT TO DO THAT. *TR

2003 HONDA ACCORD V6 TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 64,000 MILES. I HAD PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION SEVERAL YEARS AGO (ROUGH SHIFTING) BUT DEALER COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM. IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING WHEN GOING AROUND 25 - 30 MPH, MENTIONED TO HONDA DEALER AT 60,000 MILE MAINTENANCE BACK IN OCTOBER AND THEY INSPECTED AND CHANGED TRANSMISSION FLUID. WAS OK FOR A LITTLE WHILE, BUT IN LAST FEW WEEKS, IT BEGAN SLIPPING AGAIN. TOOK IT TO DEALER ON 4/21 AND THEY SAID THEY TESTED IT AND COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS. THEN ON 4/22, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHEN GOING 60 MPH ON A HIGHWAY, IT BUCKED, AND DOWNSHIFTED TO 2ND GEAR AND WOULD NOT CHANGE...IMMEDIATE SLOWING OF VEHICLE ALMOST CAUSED CAR BEHIND ME TO HIT ME. I CRAWLED TO DEALER AND THEY TESTED AND SAID SURE ENOUGH THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER REP SAID HE WENT TO HONDA AND THAT THEY WERE ONLY GOING TO PAY 50% OF REPLACEMENT COST, BUT THEN BECAUSE THE REP PUSHED HARDER, INCREASED OFFER TO 75%. I AGREED TO ACCEPT IT SINCE I NEED MY CAR BACK, BUT HONDA SHOULD HAVE PAID THE FULL COST. INTERESTINGLY, I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WOULD HAVE COVERED IT ALL, BUT IT EXPIRED ON 12/28/08. I HAVE LEARNED THOROUGH RESEARCH THAT THIS IS A RAMPANT PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND YET HONDA WILL NOT RECALL/REPLACE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT THE NHTSA MUST TAKE ACTION ON IMMEDIATELY. THE TRANSMISSIONS IN THIS MODEL ARE FRAUGHT WITH PROBLEMS, AND WILL CAUSE ACCIDENTS, INJURIES AND POSSIBLE DEATH. PLEASE TAKE ACTION SOON TO ADDRESS THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC IN A REGULARLY SERVICED 2003 HONDA ACCORD. I SLOWED DOWN AND THEN TRIED TO SPEED UP BUT TRANSMISSION KEPT SLIPPING BACK INTO 1 GEAR AND WOULDN'T ADVANCE TO THE NEXT GEAR. YOU COULDN'T GO OVER 20 MILES PER HOUR WITHOUT JERKING AND DOWN SHIFTING AND IT KEPT DOING THE SAME ALL THE WAY TO HONDA AUTO REPAIR PARKING LOT. WE WERE DRIVING SOUTH ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WITH MYSELF, WIFE AND GRANDDAUGHTER WHO WAS IN THE BACK SEAT, IN OUR 2003 HONDA EX ACCORD V6 WITH 78,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THE TRAFFIC CONGESTION WAS MODERATE TO HEAVY WITH SEMI-TRUCK AND TRAILERS IN FRONT OF US AND BEHIND US. WE WERE TRAVELING AT 65MPH IN DRIVE WHEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED AND WENT FROM DRIVE TO LOW GEAR. THE AUTOMOBILE LOCKED UP THE BACK TIRES AND MADE A SCREECHING SOUND AND THE SMELL OF BURNT RUBBER AND HEAT WAS PREVALENT INSIDE THE CAR. AFTER NEARLY BEING HIT IN THE BACK OF THE CAR, WE PUT ON OUR EMERGENCY FLASHERS AND PROCEEDED TO THE NEXT OFF RAMP. ALTHOUGH AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO DRIVE IN THE HIGH GEAR, THE DRIVE TRANSMISSION WOULD GO BACK TO LOW. AFTER CALLING A TOW TRUCK TO HAVE OUR CAR DELIVERED TO HONDA DEALERSHIP, THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED AND WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. THE OVERALL COST TO US WITH RENTAL, TOW, AND NEW TRANSMISSION WAS APPROXIMATELY $3,700.00. WE WERE NOT REIMBURSED FOR REPAIRS FOR THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THIS WAS NOT USER ABUSE OR NORMAL WEAR AND IN MY OPINION THIS FAILURE CAN ONLY BE CHARACTERIZED AS A HONDA ENGINEERING DEFECT AND SAFETY ISSUE.*TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 53,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,000.

I HAD A SLIGHT WHINE IN THE TRANSMISSION OF MY 2003 HONDA ACCORD V-6 COUPE,(WITH ONLY 79,000 MILES AND WELL MAINTAINED) FOR ABOUT A MONTH WHEN IN ONE DAY IT WENT FROM SLIGHT SLIPPAGE TO COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I WAS TRYING TO CROSS A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION WHEN IT FAILED AND IF NOT FOR DRY ROAD CONDITIONS WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A TERRIBLE CRASH. HE INFORMED ME OF A WELL KNOW PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS HONDA USED IN THE ACCORDS FROM THE EARLY 2000S (MY 2003 INCLUDED). HE TOLD ME IT WAS GOING TO FAIL - IT WOULD JUST BE A MATTER OF TIME. SO ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE APPOINTMENT THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD SO BADLY THAT THE CAR WAS UNDRIVABLE. IN BETWEEN THE SLIPS THE MOTOR WOULD REV UP TO 4500 RPM - SO I IMMEDIATELY PARKED IT. AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH I DISCOVERED I AM ONE OF MANY WITH THE SAME ISSUE - AND THAT HONDA HAS REFUSED TO RECALL THESE TRANSMISSIONS DUE TO "A SAFETY ISSUE" - WELL FOR THE FOLKS THAT HAVE LOCKED UP AND ONE FROM 45 TO 20 - IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE! I CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA IN CA AND REQUESTED ASSISTANCE (GOODWILL REPAIR - PARTIAL AT LEAST) AND THEY ARE IN THE PROCESS OF LOOKING AT IT - AFTER A COST OF $92.00 TO DIAGNOSE. *TR

I HAVE A 2003 HONDA ACCORD V6 WITH 64,000 MILES. I WAS EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. MY CAR WOULD FLARE UP WHILE ACCELERATING AND REV TO THE REDLINE. I GOT ONLINE AND SAW THE VAST NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH NO RECOURSE OR HELP. THIS IS UNSAFE. HONDA'S OWN WEBSITE CONTAINS PRESS RELEASES ADMITTING TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON THIS MODEL. THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL THEY ARE FORCED TO. LET'S TRY BAILING OUT THE CITIZEN THIS TIME, NOT THE CAR COMPANY. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL ON THE HONDA TRANSMISSION AS A WHOLE. VERY INSULTING TO ME, ESPECIALLY SINCE I WAS AND HAD BEEN VERY POLITE DURING THE WHOLE CONVERSATION. GAVE ME CASE NUMBER AND TOLD ME TO WAIT FOR A CALL FROM A REGIONAL CASE MANAGER.
